How Will Bitcoin Defend Against Quantum Computing? This Project Just Raised $6M

by admin June 19, 2025

In brief

  • Project 11 has raised $6 million to protect Bitcoin’s network from quantum computing.
  • Quantum computing is a new type of technology which has not yet been released.
  • Still, some in the crypto space worry that it will one day be able to break Bitcoin’s cryptography.

A startup has raised $6 million in a seed round to protect Bitcoin from quantum computing.

Project 11, which focuses on quantum computing’s hypothetical threat to the leading crypto network, announced the raise Thursday, which was co-led by Variant and Quantonation, and included participation from venture capital firms Castle Island Ventures, Nebular, and Formation.

The firm said that quantum computing is a threat to Bitcoin so “every wallet, every account holder, every smart contract key—all of it—must upgrade to new, quantum-safe cryptography.”

“A cryptographically relevant quantum computer will break the foundational security assumptions of Bitcoin and nearly every digital asset,” Project 11 said in a statement.

“With rapid progress from companies like IBM and Google, that future is no longer hypothetical. It’s coming fast and there isn’t long to prepare.”

Quantum computing is a new type of technology that uses quantum physics to process far larger amounts of information than classical machines.

Such computers aren’t available to the public yet and top tech companies like Google and IBM are working on developing them.

But some in the crypto space have raised concerns that as tech giants make bigger strides to releasing a quantum computer, Bitcoin’s cryptography could be cracked.

The Bitcoin network is currently the world’s most secure computing network—and has never been hacked.

In order to crack the network’s cryptography, a bad actor would have to take control of more than 50% of the Bitcoin network, which would require a huge amount of computing power.

Hardcore Bitcoiners like Strategy co-founder and chairman Michael Saylor have shrugged off concerns about quantum computing, saying that when such a threat exists, other computing networks—used by the likes of banking giants or the U.S. military—will face a bigger risk.

“I don’t worry about it,” he said. “Microsoft and Google market their quantum projects, but they would never sell a quantum computer that cracked cryptography, because it would destroy their own companies.”

Bitcoin was recently trading at about $104,250, roughly flat over the past 24 hours.

Uniswap’s UNI Token Extends Recovery as Buyers Defend $7.14 Support

by admin June 18, 2025

Uniswap’s governance token continues its impressive comeback, trading above $7.46 Tuesday after rallying 70% from its yearly low of $4.551 on April 7. The token has logged seven weekly gains in the past eight weeks—its longest positive stretch since early 2023—and is now firmly trading above key resistance levels that capped earlier recovery attempts.

The broader structure now reflects a classic bullish reversal, with a prolonged downtrend giving way to sharp rebounds, strong support formation, and improving sentiment around Uniswap’s on-chain governance and market role. Buyers absorbed a sharp drawdown earlier in the session and quickly stepped back in, establishing a new base around $7.14–$7.17.

That support zone now defines the lower bound of the token’s recent trading range. The latest rally saw the token push through prior local highs despite some intraday profit-taking near the $7.52 mark. The consistent pattern of higher lows and strong volume near key inflection points indicates a potentially sustainable uptrend, though a clean break above $7.60 would likely be needed to confirm a full momentum shift.

Technical Analysis Highlights

  • UNI traded in a 24-hour range of $0.650, from $7.142 to $7.792, reflecting 8.7% intraday volatility.
  • A sharp sell-off bottomed at $7.142 during the 10:00 hour, with volume spiking to 3.96 million—78% above the daily average.
  • The following hour saw volume increase to 4.69 million as buyers stepped in, triggering a V-shaped recovery.
  • Price reached $7.578 by 15:00 before facing resistance and temporary consolidation.
  • At 17:33, UNI dipped to $7.37, followed by a surge between 17:37 and 17:39, with volume rising to nearly 3x the hourly average.
  • Price peaked at $7.53 during the 18:00 candle with volume of 162K, representing a 5.8% gain from the hour’s low.
  • Despite some profit-taking near $7.52, price action held above mid-range, extending the recovery into a more defined uptrend.

Hypercharge becomes PS5 bestseller after devs defend game

by admin June 3, 2025

Hypercharge, a whimsical action figure shooter, just went from near-obscurity to becoming one of the top 10 sellers on PS5 over the weekend, and it’s all thanks to the developers’ honesty. Every day, thousands of new games are released on major storefronts, and the sad reality is that most won’t make it. Live service titles like Fortnite already hoard most of the user base on any given platform. Some games earn well below whatever it took to make them in the first place. And so we arrive at Hypercharge: Unboxed, a third-person shooter where players control action figures, which was ported at the end of May to Xbox and PlayStation.

Originally released in 2020 on Steam, Hypercharge arrived on the scene with plenty of fanfare. Footage of the game periodically went viral on social media as onlookers were delighted by the prospect of a game that looked straight out of Pixar’s Toy Story. Steam users have granted Hypercharge a “Very Positive’” rating, with one top review on the platform declaring the experience “pure childhood joy.” Not bad for a game made by a team of 5 people.

But that was years ago. In 2025, the shooter landscape is more competitive than ever, which means that success was not assured for Hypercharge. Despite launching with cross-platform support, it seems that interest in the game was minimal at the start of 2025. On Steam, the top-voted review posted on May 12th of this year declared, “Game is dead.”

Players on console soon realized this was the case, with at least one player taking to social media to voice their dissatisfaction. This player claimed there weren’t enough players to form a full lobby, and that there were “literally 5 people online.”

This prompted developer Digital Cybercherries to respond, and the post was surprisingly earnest. The makers of the action figure game acknowledged that there weren’t many people enjoying the game, but that they were OK with that so long as the game brought someone, somewhere joy.

The developers followed up this post with a longer explanation where they said that ultimately, they had made the game they would have wanted as children.

“Making games has never been about getting rich, becoming famous, or having the most concurrent players”

“Making games has never been about getting rich, becoming famous, or having the most concurrent players,” the post reads. “To us, being rich means waking up every day to do what we love with the people we love […] as long as we can pay the bills, feed our families, and keep creating what we care about, then yeah, in our eyes, we’re already rich.”

The devs’ display of vulnerability exploded on social media, where the post has accrued over 600,000 views. This attention was enough to catapult the game into the top 10 sellers on PS5 over the weekend.

“Picked it up yesterday to support you guys on PS5 myself!” one response reads. “I’m gonna get this game when I get paid again,” another says.

While Hypercharge seems to have fallen out that bestseller list now, it’s still at number 5 in the bestselling new releases for PS5. The whirlwind of attention was still welcome by the small developer.

“To be honest, it has been surreal,” Joe Henson, head of marketing for Hypercharge, told Polygon over email. “We are a team of five, with no publisher, no outside funding, and no big marketing budget. Just five friends who grew up loving games and wanted to make one that meant something to us. To see Hypercharge go viral and now stand alongside major AAA titles as the #5 bestselling new release on PlayStation is something we never anticipated. It has genuinely touched us.”

Henson did not share specific player base numbers with Polygon, only noting that the game doesn’t have a “huge” player base but that there are thousands of players across all platforms. He also reiterated that the developers consider the game more of a co-op experience, and the online functionality is more of a bonus.

“I completely understand it can be frustrating if you’re trying to jump into online matches and can’t find anyone,” Henson says. “I hear that. But I don’t think it’s fair to call a game a failure when it’s doing exactly what it set out to do: offer a solid offline and local co-op experience, with online as a nice extra, not the main focus.”

As for what’s next, it’s business as usual. There are bugs to fix, and updates to dole out to ensure cross-platform is working as intended. But the team is still taking some time to bask in the accomplishment.

“It has been a monumental task, but one we are incredibly proud of,” Henson says.

Hypercharge: Unboxed is available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.

Eagleopolis has fallen despite Helldivers 2 players slapping up 2.5 billion squids for an opening victory in the battle for Super Earth, leaving six Mega Cities to defend

by admin May 23, 2025

Do you want the good news or the bad news first? Well, good news, Helldivers 2 managed to win the first major order of the battle for Super Earth by slaughtering over two billion Illuminate. The bad news? It’s not stopped Eagleopolis from falling.

As it turns out, not even the biggest number of Helldivers the game’s had since last spring diving in to help try and hold off the invasion of fresh Illuminate baddies was enough to stop one of Super Earth’s seven Mega Cities being reduced to ruins. It’s ok, don’t cry. Hug your SEAF buddy and watch a clip of someone surfing on a Leviathan if that’ll help.

The previous major order, which was the Helldivers’ initial defense of Super Earth after the Illuminate invasion of their home planet began with the arrival of the Heart of Democracy update, ended this morning. Things looked good, the goal of casually killing 2.5 billion Illuminate had been achieved. Let the good times roll right?

Nope, said Arrowhead. “Eagleopolis, a venerable stronghold of Managed Democracy since time immemorial, lies in ruins,” the studio informed us all via its latest MO briefing, “Its tattered shopping centers stand in warning as to the fate that awaits the rest of Super Earth, should our mission fail.”

So, that’s one of the seven Mega Cities which make up Super Earth destroyed, but there’s still a long way to go in the battle for Super Earth, and that win has seen folks make some progress towards wiping out the entire Illuminate fleet or forcing it to retreat.

“Illuminate Fleet Strength currently stands at 49%,” Arrowhead continued, “Six Mega Cities remain standing. The Helldivers must dig in, alongside their SEAF allies, and continue to fight, day and night, to defend the heart of our Federation. The surviving Mega Cities must be defended at all costs. The Helldivers must deploy to the Mega Cities as Illuminate pressure shifts among them to prevent them from falling. Once they fall, they cannot be reclaimed.”

Hence the latest order’s goal – successfull extract from missions against the Illuminate 20 million times, in order to strike a further blow to the fleet’s big invisible health bar. And, of course, to avenge Eagleopolis, which I’m sure people on the game’s subreddit would be cut up about if they weren’t too busy post fan art about loving their SEAF trooper buddies in a fashion that totally isn’t getting a bit creepy.

Are you shedding super tears for Eagleopolis? Let us know below!
