How To Defeat Gore Magala

Although Zoh Shia is the thematic boss of Monster Hunter Wilds, other beasts can put up a tougher fight. Gore Magala (and especially its Tempered version) are easily in contention for being the most deadly enemies in the game. Not much is more threatening than their high mobility, powerful attacks, and unique Frenzy ailment that forms the basis for your Corrupted Mantle.

That doesn’t mean these fights are impossible! Gore Magala can be defeated if you go in with the right gear and preparation. Let’s go over how to beat this aggressive monster.

How to find Gore Magala

Your first Gore Magala hunt will take place during chapter five of the main quest. The monster will spawn in the Iceshard Cliffs and Wounded Hollow after you’ve defeated it. Keep leveling up your Hunter Rank, and you’ll soon find its tempered version in the same locations as well as the Ruins of Wyveria.

The strongest monsters always have the most distinctive gimmicks, and that’s certainly the case here, too

Saving Gore Magala investigations is ideal if you’re looking to farm the monster’s parts. This will cost fewer Guild Points than repeatedly resting in your tent to force a spawn. More importantly, you’ll end up with multiple chances in case you fail an attempt.

How Gore Magala’s Frenzy Virus works

The strongest monsters always have the most distinctive gimmicks, and that’s certainly the case here. Many of Gore Magala’s attacks will disperse purple clouds that can afflict your hunter with the two-phased Frenzy Virus. Phase one is all about battling your exposure to it, while the second phase is dependent on whether you cured it or not. Here’s a handy breakdown:

  • Phase 1 (Exposure): Presented as a tiny purple gauge among the other status icons above your health bar. It slowly fills up on its own, although taking more Frenzy attacks will accelerate the progress. Eating a Nulberry can lower the gauge, but the only way to cure it is to land multiple hits on a monster.
  • Phase 2 (Infected): Presented as a swirling red cloud among your status icons. Failing to stop the exposure gauge from filling up results in a temporary halt to your natural health recovery and an increase in damage taken.
  • Phase 2 (Cured): Presented as a swirling blue cloud among your status icons. Landing enough attacks will cure you of the Frenzy Virus and provide a temporary increase to your Affinity.

Antivirus is a fantastic skill to bring to this fight. It makes curing the virus a lot easier and provides an increased Affinity bonus for doing so. The one catch is that aside from the Sane Jewel decoration and Sanity Charm talismans, this skill is only available with some of the Gore Magala forged armor pieces. Said armor also has a Set Bonus Skill to self-inflict the Frenzy Virus while fighting any monster, so more confident hunters can use it to their advantage. I’d suggest avoiding the virus altogether if you have trouble dealing with it.

Gore Magala’s weaknesses

There is a lot to keep track of when hunting Gore Magala, and that’s made much harder when it dictates the pacing of the hunt. Utilize the following weaknesses against it to slow the fight down and provide the openings you need:

  • Elemental Weaknesses: Fire
  • Weapon Type Weaknesses: Cut, Blunt
  • Breakable Parts: Antenna, Tail (can also be severed), Wings x2
  • Susceptible Status Ailments: Blastblight (most effective), Exhaust (most effective), Paralysis, Poison, Sleep, Stun
  • Items and Traps: Shock Trap, Pitfall Trap

How to beat Gore Magala

It’s time to put everything into practice. Gore Magala’s biggest blind spot is right underneath it. The big monster will likely need to reposition or use an attack with a sizable wind-up to reach you. This is the best place to be without worrying about any long combos locking you into a dangerous situation.

The camera, of course, will present an issue. Monster Hunter Wilds will prioritize visibility for your character, so the giant Gore Magala might turn invisible when you’re under it. Do your best not to lose track of your target. Trust me that you do not want to randomly get hit by an air dive or any Frenzy-related attack.

Speaking of, you may notice the wings begin to glow purple throughout the hunt. This is a sign that Gore Magala is about to enter the unique Frenzy State. You’ll know this state is fully active once two horn-like antennas emerge from its head. Expect a lot more movement and much more aggressive attacks when this happens. Dealing enough damage to the head is the best way to end this state, but you might need to use some traps to keep it in place. Saving your opportunity to mount will also come in handy at this moment.

I’d be remiss not to highlight the importance of your environment. Both the Ice Shard Cliffs and Ruins of Wyveria have narrow areas that can make this an even bigger pain. Lure the monster to larger areas, or better yet, towards other monsters. Let them fight while you recover and sharpen your weapons. Don’t forget about triggering falling debris whenever possible as well. Any knockdown is a welcome knockdown.

There honestly isn’t much more to this hunt. Gore Magala simply hits hard and then hits a lot harder while in the Frenzy State and when you’re infected with the Frenzy Virus. Always prioritize not getting infected and ending the Frenzy State as soon as possible. If you’re struggling and not aiming for a particular carving reward, remember that you can always capture the monster once it’s weak enough. That’s a lot easier than finishing the hunt by slaying it.

Everything above will also apply to its tempered version, but you should expect a much more difficult fight. Tempered Gore Magala is relentless in its attacks and will enter the Frenzy State a lot faster. Seeing huge chunks of your health disappear is a common occurrence. Be prepared with high defense and preferably a level-three Antivirus skill. If you typically use a weapon that can guard, consider switching out to something different. I’ve found dodging is overall more helpful than guarding due to the high amount of chip damage you can take.

How to Defeat Illuminate Stingrays

You know what? Screw the Illuminate. I played round after round trying to get the Stingrays, also known as an Interloper, to spawn at least once, and those damn Overseers and Harvesters kept walking up and rocking me. In the end, I was victorious. A Stingray approached the airspace with reckless abandon, swooping in with practiced ease as it unloaded a barrage of molten death beams upon my head, and you know what happened? I died. A few times. But eventually, I managed to pop a shot off and I quickly discovered how to defeat Illuminate Stingrays in Helldivers 2.

How to take down Illuminate Stingrays (Interlopers)

Take a moment to think about which enemy in Helldivers 2 you’d consider the most annoying? Got it? Now replace it with the Illuminate Stingray. When these pesky flying headaches spawn, they zoom in from the edge of the map, slowing down momentarily to launch a barrage of lasers in your direction, then speed off into the sunset. If you’re quick enough, when they slow down, you can hit them with a high-powered weapon, likely a support weapon, to take one down.

While they’re speedy, Stingrays don’t have much in the way of armor. The moment they stop, swap to your heavy weapon and unleash hell. Even if all you have is your primary, you can still take one down, but it’ll take longer and likely a more concerted effort from the team.

Best weapons to use against Interlopers

As previously mentioned, your primary weapon would suffice in a pinch, but you’ll want to rely on your heavy support weapon more often than not. Something like:

  • GR-8 Recoilless Rifle: I love the Recoilless Rifle; it’s the ideal multi-purpose support weapon for tackling heavy armor of all types, including Illuminate. As it turns out, it’s also a single-shot weapon, so long as you don’t miss.
  • FAF-14 Spear: Of the many support weapons available to you, when it comes to tackling flying menaces, the Spear locks on and doesn’t let go. Once fired, the rocket continues chasing its target until it either hits or the enemy disappears off the map.
  • EAT-17 Expendable Anti-Tank: Like the GR-8 Recoilless Rifle, a single shot will bring down a Stingray, so long as you can land said shot. As this isn’t a lock-on weapon, you must manually aim and fire, which causes all manner of headaches mid-combat.

One of the more unique Nightlord fights you’ll encounter is Gnoster, Wisdom of Night, during the Sentient Pest mission. The first phase of this boss is a dual fight, which then turns into a single-target encounter halfway through.

Preparation

For starters, this boss’s weakness is fire, so it’ll be helpful to aim for buildings that have the red fire icon when you’re on your expedition. The relic you earned for defeating the first boss, Tricephelos, is helpful here; it grants fire-damage to your starting weapon. The boss can also inflict poison, so if you come across any poison protection during your expedition, make sure to grab that as well.

As for team composition, go with two ranged characters like Ironeye or Recluse, and one close-range melee, or vice versa. Having the correct lineup here is important.

Strategies for fighting Gnoster

During the first phase of the Gnoster fight, the boss is split into two beings: a scorpion-like monster and a moth. Ranged characters should focus on the moth by shooting at it from far away, while the close-range melee characters should focus on the scorpion. You want to divert their attention so that you’re not fighting both of them within close proximity with each other at the exact same time. Luckily, they share the same single HP bar so any damage you land separately on them impacts them both.

The moth shoots magical projectiles at you for its most basic attack. This one is easy to dodge as you can just roll out of the way as they’re homing in. However, if the moth soars higher into the sky and particles start appearing, just run as far away as you can. It’ll shoot a barrage of magic projectiles that’ll rain down in a wide AOE (area-of-effect) area, but as long as you’re out of its range, you should be able to avoid it entirely.

The moth will also conjure up some dark purple cosmic mist that’ll accumulate poison if you don’t get out of its way. Avoiding it is self-explanatory, just get away from the mist as it appears. Lastly, if the moth starts to make some erratic movements, it means that it’s about to lunge and grab you. Roll backwards or to the side just as it lunges forward in order to dodge it.

The scorpion has some pretty basic attacks too. One of them includes stomping its feet on the ground, causing earth spikes to come up. These spikes only hit directly in front, so stay behind or at the side of the scorpion to avoid it. It can also burrow into the ground and disappear for a few seconds. If you’re targeted, keep track of the ground. Sand will begin to rumble under you; that’s your sign to dodge the scorpion’s underground attack.

Around the 50-percent HP mark, the ground will sprout greenery, and both the moth and scorpion will combine into one creature. There are two main attacks that you need to look out for.

If you see your screen brighten up, that’s a sign that you’ve been targeted. The pillar of light will follow you around for a few seconds and then shoot down a giant light laser. This is easy to avoid just by dodging or running right before the pillar of light locks on.

The other attack you have to look out for is when Gnoster charges at you. Gnoster will also simultaneously shoot out magical projectiles directly in front as it gets closer. Don’t make the mistake of trying to dodge backwards, as Gnoster will surely mow you down. Instead, continuously roll or run to the side. Gnoster will typically charge at you three times in a row before stopping.

In addition to these new attacks, Gnoster will also sometimes still use the attacks they had when they were separated, like the poison mist and the earth spike ones.

Stick to these tips to avoid its damage, continuing laying on damage and eventually, Gnoster will go down and you’re one step closer on your way to conquering the other Nightlords.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows: How To Defeat Mitsuhide

It’s finally come to this, the final members of the Shinbakufu are in your sights, and while this isn’t the end of Naoe and Yasuke’s journey—do not get me started on the endgame thing with Hanzo, we don’t have four hours to spend being angry—it’s certainly the bang the game deserves to go out on. Get in loser, we’ve got a traitor to kill.

The Week In Games: What’s Coming Out Beyond Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Preparation

Sure, it’s not technically required to finish out Naoe and Yasuke’s personal journey quests to take on this last mission, but just from a narrative and rule-of-cool standpoint, they’re worth the effort. Naoe’s missions finally establish a proper link to the rest of the Assassin’s Creed series, and also gets her some proper beautiful Assassin garb to run around in. Meanwhile, Yasuke’s stuff doesn’t really affect the endgame, but it does let you get your Django Unchained on, and hunt down the Portuguese slavers who got him in this mess. Seriously, these are probably the best and most badass missions in the game, and the reward is the best armor Yasuke can own. Past those, though, you already have everything you need. Let’s just finish this.

The Mission: “Topple the Traitor”

So, there’s a war going on, and you ain’t in it. Yasuke and Naoe have one target, and they’re gonna fight their way through a castle full of assholes to get him. Pick Yasuke first to do the fun job of killing everything on two legs. Things get messy and crowded quick, though, so whatever you need to do to end fights fast, do it; the only real note to make is that you’re gonna want to take out anybody holding a teppo first. There’s usually two or three of ‘em lurking around every corner, and they can make what should be a mundane murdertask into an absolute clusterfuck. There are also a lot of explosives in the area. Use them wisely.

When you’ve created a nice little meatstack out of the dead bodies in your wake, follow your mission marker, bash through the doors of the main pagoda and head upstairs. You’ll get a cutscene with Mitsuhide and his posse before he legs it. Let Yasuke deal with that, it’s Naoe’s time to chase down Mitsuhide on horseback. Feel free to follow him directly, but if you see an opportunity to cut across a wide open field to catch up, do it.

At the end of the road, Mitsuhide will finally decide to boss up and face our heroes head on. Yasuke will kick things off first, and you’ll need to be a little more patient with this than normal and punish his mistakes more than staying on constant offense. If you see him kick sand in Yasuke’s face, he’ll follow up with an unblockable. A simple dodge will get you out of that. Any combo you hit, back away after the final hit. Try to get spammy with attacks, he’ll retaliate with some pretty painful combos.

Once his armor’s off, Naoe will get the hot tag. Mitsuhide will fight a lot faster to accommodate, meaning everything from Yasuke’s phase, but less room for mistakes. Vault is going to be your savior here; keep him vulnerable, and often.

As soon as he’s done for, you’ll get a bit of conversation, and it’ll be up to you to decide how best to finish him. Naoe’s probably the best choice here. For a bunch of the previous targets, there’s room for a bit of nuance. But not this asshole. He deserves to lose his neck.

Naoe will get the Dragon’s Edge Katana for her trouble, which coincidentally goes real nice with her snazzy Assassin outfit. Now you’re prepared for the final challenge, the culmination of all lessons learned. The final member of the Shinbakufu is waiting for you at Kuramadera Temple in the Genbu Highlands in Yamashiro.

Your vengeance has come. To win, you’ll need all your power, all your cunning, all your skill and determinat—oh, wait, no, you go have a conversation and the dude just hands you the box and it’s over. Your reward is level-45 anti-climax. Enjoy.

Elden Ring Nightreign has plenty of hard boss fights, with some harder than others. And there’s one particular boss that you’re more than likely to have some trouble with. It’s called Fulghor, Champion of Nightglow.

At the roundtable, the Darkdrift Knight mission is where you’ll fight it on the third day. This one is a one-armed centaur with a spear, and he’s certain to be considered one of the hardest Nightlords in the game.

Here are some tips on how to beat Fulghor.

Preparation

It’s absolutely essential that you face Fulghor with a lightning elemental weapon equipped. While it’s still possible to beat him without one, lightning will make the battle easier. Not only is Fulghor weak to this “element”, but it can also stop him from unleashing one of his most devastating attacks. So when exploring Limveld, make sure to prioritize camps that have the lightning icon so you can potentially find the proper weapon.

Class composition isn’t as important for this boss as having a lightning elemental weapon. Given how fast Fulghor is, however, having at least one Ironeye will be helpful as you can immediately attack the boss when needed. This can come in handy as, depending on how close any given melee character is to Fulghor, you might not have enough time to use a melee lightning weapon to break Fulghor out of one of its attacks, and that’s where a well-placed shot .

Fighting Fulghor

Fulghor hits hard and fast. One particularly annoying attack sees it swipe its lance into the ground, creating a shockwave that travels forward. The shockwave is delayed, which makes it difficult to time a dodge. Aside from that, it’ll also do some standard swiping and lunging attacks with its weapon, which are all easier to dodge in comparison.

On occasion, Fulghor will continuously charge around the battlefield, leaving a large trail of light. Not only do you have to dodge the charge itself, but also the shockwave that comes after. The trail of light will eventually explode, so move out of the way.

Later on during the fight, Fulghor will develop a gross second, purple arm. It’ll start slamming the battlefield with it while also attacking you. The best way to avoid this attack is to just dodge roll through it as they aren’t multi-hit moves.

Its most devastating attack is where it charges up like Libra, except this time the charge is much faster. Fulghor will have a glowing aura at its feet, and if it finishes its charge, blades of lightning will come up from the ground and pierce you. This attack is almost instantaneous so it’s difficult to dodge. Fulghor does this fairly often during the fight, so pay attention.

However, this is where your lightning weapon comes in handy. Once it begins charging, simply attack (no Ultimate needed). There’s a chance that a lightning bolt will strike down and disrupt Fulghor’s attack completely. That’s not always a guarantee, though. Fulghor can still finish the attack uninterrupted and inflict huge damage to your squad. But if all three of you have lightning weapons, there’s a more likely chance that one of you will disrupt Fulghor as you’re attacking it.

Fulghor is one of the toughest Nightlords in the game, so don’t be discouraged if you end up losing to it. Preparation goes a long way.

Elden Ring Nightreign: How To Defeat Caligo

In Elden Ring Nightreign, you’ll face off against difficult bosses called Nightlords. These appear on Day Three, after you’ve spent the first two days preparing. They’re your final challenge before completing your expedition.

The Most Sought After Elden Ring Sword Has A Storied History

One of the missions you’ll embark on is called Fog of the Fissure, and the Nightlord you’ll be taking on is called Caligo, Miasma of Night. This one is an ice dragon that specializes in AOE attacks, which can be annoying. However, there’s a special in-game event that could help you out immensely if you’re lucky.

Preparation

Being made of ice, Caligo’s weakness is fire, so it’s important to find a fire elemental weapon during your expedition. Just look for structures on the map with the fire icon and defeat the bosses there for a chance at earning a corresponding elemental weapon..

If the Mountaintop Shifting Earth event is active, trekking up the mountain to get the bonus at the end is worth it. Shifting Earth events are random occurrences in the game that will change a part of Limveld’s map.

If you reach the top of Mountaintop, you’ll earn a passive buff that will greatly increase your frost resistance as well as increase your damage against dragons. Since we’re going up against an ice dragon, Mountaintop is definitely worth tackling on Day Two where you’ll have more of a fighting chance against the monsters there.

Ranged classes like Ironeye are helpful too as you can aim for Caligo’s head.

Strategies for fighting Caligo

Caligo is gigantic, even by Nightlord standards. As such, it doesn’t move nearly as often as others and that can make for an easy target. It’ll typically swipe with its claws, but that attack is easily telegraphed and dodged by rolling forward.

Caligo will start incorporating ice into its attacks, such as its freezing breath. This attack spreads out in a cone, so be sure to dodge roll behind Caligo. There is another breath attack where Caligo will stand on its hind legs and breathe fog directly down in front of it. The same strategy as before applies here—get behind Caligo. This attack can also form icicles on the ground that will inflict damage and build up frostbite should you touch them. Avoid these.

Eventually, Caligo will cover the entire screen with fog. You’ll also sometimes see a gust of black wind heading in a specific direction at the same time. Follow it until you find a pillar of ice to hide behind. This will shield you from Caligo’s upcoming huge ice wave attack.

In a variation of this attack, Caligo will summon a gigantic sheet of ice to come crashing down into the ground. The sound of ice cracking signals this attack. Unfortunately, right now it seems like the only way to avoid this attack is to run as fast as you can away from the noise and pray that you’re out of the ice sheet’s range before the fog lifts and the sheet comes crashing down.

Caligo will also fly around and summon meteors to hit you. This is the most mobile it’ll be through the entire fight. Fortunately, this move is rather rare and easier to dodge than Caligo’s other ones.

Arguably, Caligo is a more annoying boss battle than it is a hard one, especially due to how much space its attacks cover. Timing your expedition with the Mountaintop event will make the fight significantly easier, so make sure you get every advantage you can.

Helldivers 2 has been hit with a fresh burst of negative reviews on Steam over the past couple of days, and it looks like the reason for this uptick is rooted in an alleged Galactic War messaging mix-up involving Chinese players keen to defeat the Illuminate.

The good news is that the squids may soon suffer that exact fate, with the battle for Super Earth now in the final stage of its final stage. Though, it has taken Super Earth’s president getting killed in action to get us to that point.

Manage cookie settings

Taking a look at Steam, HD2 has clocked up just under 3500 negative reviews across May 29 and May 30 so far, as opposed to 1514 positive ones. It’s a tiny drop in the bucket compared to the mass of over 220,000 negative reviews that came with last May’s PSN account linking controversy, but still noticeable.

A glance through these recent thumbs downs reveals that a good portion of them are rooted in unhappiness about recent bugs like the stratagem input one. Though, there are also a bunch that cite the percentage “99.9783%” and express frustration at Arrowhead over a recent development in the the Galactic War.

What’s happened looks to be this: with only two mega cities left to defend from the Illuminate invasion – Equality-On-Sea (located in China on Helldivers 2’s in-game map) and Prosperity City (Super Earth’s capital, placed in Sweden, home of developer Arrowhead) – there was a big effort put in by players, especially those in China, to hold on to the former.

Their efforts meant the Helldivers’ hold on the city got to 99.9783%, but because the Illuminate are still invading en-masse in a manner the divers couldn’t put a full stop to at that point because the current order was still ongoing, there was nothing they could do to make Equality-On-Sea 100% theirs.

According to an alleged “level 150 Chinese Helldiver veteran” with the Reddit username Valkyrie_Yukikaze (thanks, GamesRadar), this lead to frustration among Chinese players, which they claim to have not been helped by the game’s Chinese translation apparently explaining defense percentages in a way that “makes it [seem] like that the city can be completely taken back from the invasion”.

Cue anger, coupled with conspiracy theories about Arrowhead and its game master J.O.E.L railroading players into specific outcomes or plot twists in the war, rather than rewarding them for their efforts and reacting dynamically to them. How you feel about that comes down to what you think the job of a D&D-style dungeon master is, but there are plenty of examples of Arrowhead embracing stuff players have done out of the blue in the past – hello mines people decided to save children over.

Anyway, here’s hoping everyone can chill out and come together for the climax of this pivotal major order. While Super Earth’s president has been killed in action overnight, Arrowhead’s latest news briefing says that the squids are “taking heavy losses” that could soon result in them being “forced to abandon the assault” of Super Earth. That’s assuming the divers can keep on holding out, so here’s hoping they stay strong.

Elden Ring Nightreign is home to many difficult boss battles, especially the Nightlords during Day Three. The Nightlords are your final tests at the end of every expedition, so hopefully you’ve managed to build a good enough character to take them on.

The very first mission you’ll take on is called Tricephelos, and the Nightlord is Gladius, Beast of Night. This is a hound-like Cerberus monster that’ll prove a hard challenge when you first play Nightreign. Gladius will always be the first Nightlord that players will fight against and must be defeated in order to gain access to the remaining Nightlords.

Those who’ve played the beta will undoubtedly recognize Gladius, as it was the final boss of the beta. From my own experience playing the full game, Gladius actually seems to be easier this time around, as it doesn’t use its fire attacks nearly as often. It mostly used its sword attacks. However, during its second phase, it will start using fire elemental attacks more often.

Here are some tips on how to secure your first Nightlord win by defeating Gladius.

Preparation

Any kind of class combination will suffice if all three players are skilled enough, but tanks and melee characters do well here, such as Guardian and Raider. This is because Gladius’s sweeping sword attack (yes it can swing a sword with its tail) seems to have some elevation to it, making it easy to avoid if you stay up close and personal. One person playing a ranged class like the ranger Ironeye is always helpful as well to distract the boss so that teammates can recoup.

To prepare yourself against fire damage, equip any Relics you have that boost fire resistance as that’ll help immensely during battle. Additionally, you might pick up a shield during your expedition that has fire resistance, but that heavily relies on luck.

During your expedition, make sure to target camps and structures with the Holy icon—it looks like a blade with a thin bright circle around it. This indicates that the boss in those structures drop weapons that inflict Holy damage when defeated. Gladius is weak against Holy damage, so it’s important to get any advantage you can.

Strategies for fighting Gladius

During the first stage, Gladius will primarily use its sword attacks, but they won’t inflict any fire damage. This part should be relatively easy as you dodge its attacks, including its bite lunges. After about a quarter of its health is gone, Gladius will then transition to its second phase.

The second phase is when it actually starts using fire attacks. Its most threatening attack in this phase is where it pulls back its sword, and then thrusts it downward into the ground, creating a big explosion. The easiest way to dodge this is to roll through the explosion, or get behind Gladius as the attack primarily lands in front of it.

Gladius will also split into three copies of itself. One will be the main dog carrying the sword while the other two won’t. The best strategy here is to combine forces and focus on taking out one dog at a time, preferably one of the weaker ones without the sword. This part is only temporary. If you wait out long enough, Gladius will eventually reform into one being again.

Lastly, its biggest fire attack is similar to the previous one where it thrusts its sword in the ground. It’ll set its sword on fire and then thrust it into the ground again. Except this time, there’s a short delay before it creates an even bigger explosion out in front. The best strategy to dodge is the same as always. A timely dodge roll through the explosion or be behind Gladius when it goes off.

After you’ve beaten Galdius, congrats! This will unlock the remaining Nightlords. You can challenge them in any order. Additionally, Gladius will drop an old pocket watch that can be given to the Priestess in the white garb to unlock the Duchess class. There’s actually a very small chance (around 510 percent) that the pocket watch will drop even if you lose against Gladius, but defeating it guarantees the drop.

In Elden Ring Nightreign, you’ll face off against many difficult bosses. During Day Three, you’ll fight the Nightlord, your final challenge. Hopefully, you’ve prepared over the first two days to take it on.

On one of the missions, your target is the Equilibrious Beast named Libra, Creature of Night. This goat-like creature can be an incredibly difficult boss, but there’s a solid strategy you can use to make sure it never uses one of its most powerful attacks..

Preparation

For this Nightlord, have at least one person play as the ranged character, Ironeye—this is essential to avoid Libra’s most powerful attack. Two Ironeye characters would be even better if you’re willing to roll with that. Ideally, the third character should use Wylder for its powerful attacks, especially its Ultimate.

Libra uses the Madness element, but it’s also weak to it. Unfortunately, weapons and equipment that inflict Madness are hard to come by during expeditions. However, if you do find them, make sure to take them for this battle.

Libra is also weak against fire and holy attacks, so if you see any camps or structures with those elemental icons on the map, make sure to travel to them, beat the boss, and potentially secure a corresponding elemental weapon.

Strategies for fighting Libra

Libra only has one phase for the entire fight, but there’s one attack in particular you should look out for that we’ll discuss at the end.

First, try to stay close to Libra so that it only attacks you with its staff. If you’re far away, it’ll try to target you with its Madness-inducing spells, including one that invokes a circle under you that triggers an explosion. These attacks aren’t too difficult to dodge; you’re good as long as you’re not in the middle of an attack animation. Another attack to be mindful of is one that sprays a large beam of Madness energy right. This one is very easy to dodge as long as you’re not directly in front of Libra. So keep your positioning in mind.

Crystals are scattered on the map whenever Libra uses magic. Run into these crystals to decrease your Madness meter while also building your Madness resistance.

Libra will also create yellow clouds that rain down Madness. Avoid standing below these clouds.

When Libra starts meditating and encases itself in a bubble, you’ve got problems. This is its most dangerous attack. After three sigils form around it and Libra completes the attack, it will gain a defense boost that you certainly don’t want to deal with.

You can shoot the three sigils down with ranged attacks from characters like Ironeye. This disrupts Libra’s meditation entirely. However, there’s an even more efficient method to disrupting the attack.

Instead of attacking the sigils, have someone on your team use their Ultimate Art on Libra itself while it’s meditating. That will immediately break the attack and cause the three sigils to disappear. Libra will become angry and attack frantically with its staff, but that’s preferable to it getting a defense boost.

Make sure that your other two teammates have their Ultimates on deck in case Libra tries to do this attack again. Rotate between your squad’s three Ultimates to stop the meditation attack, ensuring that Libra will never get that defense boost. Eventually, it’ll fall.

Elden Ring Nightreign has plenty of hard boss fights. The Nightlords, which are your final challenges after reaching Day Three, are among the hardest. Thankfully, there are some that are easier than others.

The Most Sought After Elden Ring Sword Has A Storied History

On one of the missions, Augur, your target is the Maris, Fathom of Night. This amorphous blue monster is actually easy compared to the other Nightlords as it doesn’t seem to attack very often. The soundtrack during the fight also is surprisingly calm too.

Preparation

Preparation isn’t as essential for this Nightlord as it is for others, but be sure to take a ranged character.. Maris floats around in the air, sometimes making it hard to reach. Ironeye or Recluse will be effective here. However, Maris isn’t usually too far out of reach, so melee classes won’t be left out of the action.

While unconfirmed, Maris seems more susceptible to lightning damage, which would make sense given it’s a water elemental being. While traversing Limveld, prioritize camps that have the lightning icon so you can potentially secure a corresponding elemental weapon.

Strategies for fighting Magis

Maris will usually start off with two basic attacks. It fires off around five slow-moving bubbles that hone in on your position and eventually explode for the first attack. The second attack is a simple tidal wave that covers a small area. Both are easy to dodge. For the former, just stay away from the bubbles and don’t be around when they blow up. For the latter, just dodge through the wave or sprint out of the wave to your side.

Maris has two other larger attacks. One sees it spin around, creating a whirlpool around it. This one usually only hits if you’re in close range; if you’re using a ranged character like Ironeye, you should have no problem avoiding it. If you’re up close, just dodge through it.

Maris will charge you for the other attack. This one is easily telegraphed: You can see Maris winding up by doing a flip or two in the air before coming back down. It’s easy to dodge this one.

Eventually, the battlefield will glow more blue, and Maris will start summoning tentacles to attack you if you get too close. They’re stuck in the area they sprouted, so it’s easy to avoid them. During this phase, Maris can start dropping those same slow moving explosive bubbles, except there’s like 10 of them now. Use the same strategy as last time: Just avoid them.

One of the last attacks is when it flies high in the air and lays an egg that slowly descends onto the field. To be honest, I have no idea what happens if the attack is allowed to complete because my teammates always managed to shoot it down before it was able to do anything. You should have no trouble preventing that.

Maris is not very aggressive and its attacks are probably the easiest to learn and avoid out of all of the Nightlords in the game. Just be patient and it’ll eventually go down.
