Pavel Durov Declines To Censor Moldova Election Content on Telegram

by admin September 28, 2025

Telegram co-founder Pavel Durov claimed that French intelligence services asked him to censor content related to the election in Moldova in 2024 in exchange for saying “good things” to the judge overseeing his trial, which he declined to do.

Durov said the messaging platform initially took down some posts that “clearly” violated Telegram’s terms of service, but declined to remove any additional content for political reasons. Durov wrote in a Sunday Telegram post:

“Shortly thereafter, the Telegram team received a second list of so-called ‘problematic’ Moldovan channels. Unlike the first, nearly all of these channels were legitimate and fully compliant with our rules.

Their only commonality was that they voiced political positions disliked by the French and Moldovan governments. We refused to act on this request,” he continued.

The crypto industry rallied behind Durov following his August 2024 arrest in France, and the related developments in his ongoing case, as the battle for free speech between tech platforms and state governments attempting to impose censorship polices unfolds.

French and European authorities previously asked Telegram to censor political content

In May 2025, Durov pointed to a previous incident in which French intelligence services pressured Telegram into censoring Romanian election content, which he also declined to do.

“You can’t ‘defend democracy’ by destroying democracy. You can’t ‘fight election interference’ by interfering with elections. You either have freedom of speech and fair elections — or you don’t,” he wrote.

Following his 2024 arrest, which drew widespread condemnation from the crypto community and human rights activists, he became highly critical of the French government and the direction of the European Union.

France is inching toward societal collapse due to state censorship and the failed policies of the current government, he warned in June.

He also stated that Telegram will exit jurisdictions, including France, before compromising user privacy by handing over encryption keys or building a backdoor into the messaging platform for state surveillance.

Durov’s repeated warnings about state-led attacks against online free speech and privacy came to a head in 2025, when an EU proposal to monitor all chat messages, including encrypted user communications, gained support from 19 member nations of the EU.

DOGE Price Declines 5% as 'Lower Highs' Point to Further Declines

by admin August 30, 2025

News Background

  • Between August 24–25, a whale shifted 900 million DOGE (worth over $200 million) to Binance, sparking fears of distribution from long-term holders.
  • Corporate treasuries and institutional funds have reduced meme-coin exposure as regulatory uncertainty and global macro headwinds mount.
  • Network security strength remains elevated, with Dogecoin’s hashrate topping 2.9 petahashes per second, reflecting robust mining participation despite price volatility.
  • Broader crypto markets remain supported by expectations of Fed policy easing, but DOGE continues to lag majors like BTC and ETH.

Price Action Summary

  • DOGE fell 5% during the 24-hour session from August 28 at 09:00 to August 29 at 08:00, sliding from $0.22 to $0.21.
  • The token traded within a narrow $0.011 range, marked by a high at $0.23 and a low at $0.21.
  • Institutional selling was evident, with 626.3 million tokens transacted during morning trade as $0.22 support gave way.
  • The sharpest move came in the 07:24–08:23 GMT hour on August 29, when DOGE dropped 0.57% from $0.22 to $0.21 on a 27.36 million spike in volume.

Technical Analysis

  • Support: Initial stability around $0.22 was lost; $0.21 now serves as the immediate floor.
  • Resistance: $0.23 remains the near-term cap, repeatedly rejecting rallies.
  • Momentum: RSI hovers near mid-40s, showing neutral-to-bearish bias with limited upside strength.
  • Volume: Daily turnover exceeded 280.5 million tokens; institutional flows were concentrated during peak selling phases.
  • Indicators: MACD lines are diverging bearishly, suggesting further downside risk unless price reclaims $0.22.
  • Pattern: Tight $0.21–$0.23 corridor signals consolidation, but repeated lower highs point to a potential continuation lower.

What Traders Are Watching

  • $0.21 as the critical support — a break risks exposing $0.20.
  • A push through $0.23 could reframe near-term momentum and open the path toward $0.25–$0.30.
  • Monitoring whale exchange inflows after the $200 million transfer to Binance.
  • Futures open interest trends, down 8% earlier this week, as a gauge of speculative conviction.

Pudgy Penguins Token Declines Sharply in August Amid NFT Market Downturn

by admin August 29, 2025

Pudgy Penguins’ native token slipped on Friday despite the project’s new title ranking among Apple’s top downloads.

The PENGU (PENGU) token fell by nearly 4% on Friday, following the launch of Pudgy Party, a battle royale game released on Android and iOS, regardless the game recording over 50,000 downloads on the Google Play store and landing in the top 10 most downloaded games on Apple’s App Store.

Pudgy Penguins is a popular non-fungible token (NFT) project in the crypto space. The project supplements its onchain digital presence with trading cards, plushy penguin-themed toys, video games and other physical merchandise.

According to CoinMarketCap, the token declined by over 20% over the past 30 days.

The price retrace comes amid a broader downturn in the NFT market, which saw other blue-chip NFT projects such as Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and Doodles post double-digit losses in August.

Despite price fluctuations, Pudgy Penguins continues to be a cultural phenomenon within the crypto community and showcases mass appeal to non-crypto users through the project’s focus on physical merchandise, drawing both adults and children to the franchise.

XLM Declines 8% as Institutional Investors Retreat Amid Market Uncertainty

by admin August 29, 2025

Stellar’s native token XLM came under heavy institutional selling pressure in the latest trading session, falling from $0.39 to $0.36 between August 28 at 3:00 p.m. and August 29 at 2:00 p.m. ET. Market data shows more than 41.89 million XLM changed hands, with volumes surging as large holders reduced exposure.

Despite the pressure, Stellar’s enterprise push remains intact. The Stellar Development Foundation reported the network is approaching 10 million registered accounts, boosted by daily growth of 5,000–6,000 new corporate wallets. Strategic partnerships with MoneyGram International and Circle Internet Financial continue to drive adoption of Stellar’s payment rails in cross-border finance.

Analysts highlighted sharp intraday swings on August 29, when XLM dropped 1.38% between 1:26 p.m. and 2:06 p.m., before institutional buyers reentered the market. The token recovered 1.27% during the 15-minute window that followed, closing the session at $0.361 after briefly touching $0.357.

A spokesperson close to Stellar’s corporate strategy stressed that the market turbulence was sentiment-driven rather than a reflection of business fundamentals. The late-session bounce suggested some large buyers viewed the decline as a buying opportunity, underscoring confidence in Stellar’s long-term role in blockchain-based financial infrastructure.

Technical Market Indicators Signal Mixed Corporate Sentiment
  • XLM posted a 7.74% decline from $0.39 to $0.36 during the August 28-29 trading period.
  • Daily trading range reached $0.031 between session high of $0.387 and low of $0.356.
  • Peak selling activity occurred during morning European trading hours on August 29 with volume exceeding the 24-hour average of 41.89 million units.
  • Technical resistance established near $0.373 level as institutional buyers remained cautious.
  • Support levels identified at $0.375 and $0.362, with the lower threshold showing stability during final trading hours.
  • Elevated trading volume during the decline indicates potential institutional accumulation strategies.
  • Intraday price range of $0.005 during the final 60-minute trading period demonstrates continued market interest.
  • Support at $0.357 attracted institutional buying interest before session close.
  • Final hour recovery of 1.27% on volume exceeding 2 million units suggests corporate treasury departments may be accumulating positions.

11.7 Million XRP Locked as Key Metric Declines

11.7 Million XRP Locked as Key Metric Declines

by admin August 29, 2025

  • XRPL AMM hits bare lows
  • XRPL TVL stable

Amid the mixed price actions witnessed across the broad crypto market, XRP has not only stalled in price, its DeFi growth appears to be declining.

According to data from XRPSCAN, the amount of XRP locked across all XRPL automated market maker (AMM) pools has reduced to 11,729,984 XRP as of August 28.

The data shows that the XRPL AMM liquidity has declined to levels last reached in November 2024 as the third-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization continues to experience volatile price movements.

XRPL AMM hits bare lows

With 11,729,984.20 XRP currently pooled in AMM contracts of the XRP ledger, it appears that weakening investor confidence has spurred a retracement in locked liquidity for XRP despite earlier growth this year. The metric had surged to over 14 million about four months ago.

Following the decline in its DeFi activities, the total XRP trading pairs registered on the ledger as of writing stand at 19,953. With the decline in XRPL locked liquidity nearly reaching a one-year low, only a few pools have been added to existing ones, with the total active pools reaching 22,053 on August 28.

You Might Also Like

Notably, the downturn in the amount of XRP locked on the AMM pools suggests fading enthusiasm across the XRP community as on-chain metrics suggest momentum is fading. Thus, the negative trend suggests that some liquidity providers on XRPL are increasingly withdrawing capital amid shifting sentiments caused by prolonged market uncertainty.

This contraction in AMM liquidity coincides with mixed price action for XRP, which has struggled to sustain upward momentum in recent sessions. The token has struggled to maintain the $3 support level amid recurring price corrections.

XRPL TVL stable

Despite the decline in locked liquidity on the ledger, data from DefiLlama shows that the total value locked (TVL) across XRPL stands at $99.47 million on August 28, showing zero increase or decline in the last 24 hours.

Source: DefiLlama

While this suggests dormant DeFi activities as XRP liquidity providers are increasingly taking caution, the data further shows that the XRPL DEX remains the dominant protocol, with nearly $80 million TVL, though it has seen a 1.65% weekly decline.

However, it is important to note that stablecoin liquidity on XRPL has surged slightly higher, with the stablecoin market cap increasing 2.20% over the past week to $168.08 million.

BTC, ETH, DOGE Price News: Declines Pick Up Speed

by admin August 25, 2025

Hopes for a quick reversal from the weekend crypto plunge faltered on Monday with bitcoin BTC$110,210.61 slipping all the way back below $110,000, just barely ahead of its then-euphoric price of $109,400 touched ahead of President Trump’s Jan. 20 inauguration.

The largest crypto’s recovery attempt was quickly rejected at $113,000 during the U.S. session, and it fell precipitously to a seven-week low, CoinDesk price data shows. Recently, BTC traded at $109,700, down 2.7% over the past 24 hours and lower by about 7% since soaring above $117,000 in wake of Fed Chair Jay Powell’s dovish Friday Jackson Hole speech.

While major altcoins held up relatively well during the Sunday crash, they succumbed to the market weakness on Monday. Ethereum’s ether (ETH) plummeted nearly 8% over the past 24 hours below $4,400. Solana’s SOL (SOL), dogecoin DOGE$0.2091, Cardano ADA$0.8401, Chainlink LINK$23.30 also declined 6%-8%.

Today’s price swing liquidated nearly $700 million in leveraged trading positions across all crypto derivatives, surpassing the Sunday flush, CoinGlass data shows. Some $627 million of the liquidated trades were longs anticipating higher prices.

What may further spook traders is weak seasonality as the end of August nears. September has brought historically the weakest returns for BTC and ETH with 3.77% and 6.42% losses on average for the month, respectively, per CoinGlass data.

UPDATE (Aug. 25, 20:28 UTC): Adds liquidation data by CoinGlass.

NFT Market Cap Drops $1.2B as Ether Declines; Penguins Overtake Apes

by admin August 18, 2025

The non-fungible token (NFT) market lost more than $1.2 billion in value in less than a week as Ether’s rally slowed, according to sector data.

On Monday, NFT Price Floor data showed that the total valuation of NFT collections had dropped to $8.1 billion, a 12% decline from Wednesday’s NFT market cap of $9.3 billion, which had surged 40% since July.

NFTs losing $1.2 billion in valuation in less than a week coincided with a 9% drop in Ether (ETH) prices. At the time of writing, Cointelegraph data showed ETH traded at $4,260, down from a high of about $4,700 on Wednesday.

Many NFTs are minted on the Ethereum network. With valuations and sales denominated in ETH, bullish or bearish momentum in the crypto asset often translates into increased or decreased value in the NFT sector. As ETH went down 4% in the last 24 hours, a majority of the top 10 collections also showed declines in value.

NFT market cap drops by over 12% as ETH declines

While it continued to be the top collection by market capitalization, CryptoPunks saw about $300 million wiped from the collection’s value.

At the time of writing, data showed it was worth $2.1 billion, down 12% from its 2.4 billion market cap on Wednesday.

CryptoSlam data showed that the collection’s sales volume reached $12.7 million, a 34% drop in the last seven days. Total sales only reached 51, down 28% in the last week.

The Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), which was ranked second in overall NFT market capitalization on Wednesday, dropped to third place on Monday, as the collection declined to $482.3 million.

This represented an almost 20% drop from Wednesday’s $602 million.

Meanwhile, Pudgy Penguins climbed to the second-highest valuation despite erasing about $100 million in overall value.

On Monday, the collection’s market cap was $491 million, down 17% from Wednesday’s $591 million.

Last week, publicly traded blockchain company BTCS Inc. announced that it added three Pudgy Penguins NFTs to its corporate digital asset treasury.

This showed that companies are beginning to recognize blue-chip NFT collections as legitimate assets for treasury diversification.
