Developers from companies such as Ubisoft, Ready At Dawn Studios, and Midgar Studio have banded together to form Atlantis Studio.

Based in the south of France, the new venture has been established as a privately funded game studio co-founded by Ru Weerasuriya and Nico Augusto. It said its focus was on building immersive games with Unreal Engine 5 for PC and console.

“Born from a shared passion for storytelling and emotional gameplay, the team is currently working on an exciting project that draws inspiration from rich narrative and aims to create powerful, heartfelt experiences for players,” the website said.

“We are thrilled to announce the creation of Atlantis Studio in the beautiful South of France region,” Weerasuriya, co-founder of Atlantis Studio, said in a statement (thanks, GamesBeat). “Our vision is to foster a creative and collaborative environment where experienced talent can come together to develop games driven by our common passions.”

Co-founder Augusto added: “The core team at Atlantis Studio is composed of exceptional and talented individuals. Together, we are looking forward to sharing with everyone the world we are crafting.”

Zenless Zone Zero Season 2, Where Clouds Embrace The Dawn, launches next month

by admin May 25, 2025

Zenless Zone Zero Season 2, entitled Where Clouds Embrace The Dawn, will launch on 6th June.

Calling it “a significant update and milestone moment” – the gacha game will also release on the same day for Xbox – HoYoverse teased that in Version 2, players will “embark on a brand-new and exciting journey to Waifei Peninsula, alongside Yixuan from Yunkui Summit”.

“In this expansive update, Proxies will venture into the all-new Waifei Peninsula alongside trusted allies such as Yixuan from Yunkui Summit, revitalize the Suibian Temple nestled within the bustling Failume Heights, and take on more challenging Hollow combat in a more open and spacious environment. To commemorate the game’s first anniversary, Version 2.0 will bring a wide array of celebration rewards including a free S-Rank Agent, a free S-Rank W-Engine, 1,600 Polychromes and 20 Encrypted Master Tapes,” the developer added.

Following the resolution of the Sacrifice crisis in previous chapters, Season 2 sees Proxies further uncover the hidden secrets of Phaethon and experience new Hollow exploration gameplay that harnesses the forces of Ether.

“The region’s main city Failume Heights thrives near the Lemnian Hollow, renowned for the rare resource Porcelume. It offers distinctive tea houses, pawnshops, and dessert stalls, inviting Proxies to immerse themselves in the local atmosphere,” HoYo added. “Meanwhile, Proxies will take on management of their very own Suibian Temple, upgrade the temple’s facilities and earn in-game rewards by dispatching Bangboos, completing commissions, and collecting resources from the Hollows.”

Several new allies will join the roster: Yixuan, also known as the Grandmaster, will join the combat as an S-Rank Agent, Ju Fufu, the senior disciple of Yunkui Summit, who will debut as an S-Rank Fire Stun Agent, and Pan Yinhu, Yunkui Summit’s A-Rank Physical Defense Agent.

The S-Rank Ether Support Astra Yao and the S-Rank Physical Defense Caesar will return to the Version 2.0 banners.

Players can also expect Hollow Zero: Lost Void to be updated with “new commissions and the possibility to equip multiple Gears to different Agents, adding more strategic options to battles”, plus a brand-new 3D map with enhanced navigation features.

“In Version 2.0, Proxies will be able to enter the cinema in Lumina Square to enjoy movies with different characters during the Gravitational Attraction event and obtain exclusive rewards by completing certain tasks, including an A-Rank W-Engine Reel Projector,” we’re told. “In the Soul of Steel: Golden Bond event, Proxies can pilot sleek mechs into the Hollows, take on a variety of challenges, and earn abundant rewards.”

In March, two voice actors working on Zenless Zone Zero were suddenly recast due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike over AI abuse, and discovered the change alongside the publication of the game’s patch notes. In a statement subsequently shared on social media, the studio said its contracts offer “explicit AI protections, regardless of union status” and it will continue to work on its clients’ projects “in the most human way possible”.

Until Dawn Movie Adaptation Releases On Digital, 4K Blu-Ray Preorders Are Live

by admin May 24, 2025

While movie adaptations of video games can be very hit or miss, Until Dawn was one of the more memorable projects thanks to the film putting its own spin on the game’s choose-your-own-design mechanics. In case you missed it on the big screen, Until Dawn is now available to watch from the comfort of your own couch. You can rent or buy the digital release from Prime Video for $20-$25. If you prefer physical media and don’t mind waiting, Until Dawn’s 4K Blu-ray combo pack is up for preorder at Amazon and Walmart ahead of its July 8 release date.

Until Dawn is the third video game film adaptation from PlayStation Productions following Uncharted and Gran Turismo. The production company, which was founded in 2019, is also credited with the TV adaptations of Twisted Metal and the critically acclaimed HBO series The Last of Us.

$50 | Releases July 8

Until Dawn’s 4K Blu-ray edition also comes a 1080p Blu-ray disc and digital copy of the film. Along with native 4K resolution, Until Dawn will support Dolby Atmos audio on supported devices.

Amazon and Walmart have the 4K Blu-ray combo pack priced at $50 at the moment. That said, we expect the price to drop prior to launch. Both retailers offer preorder price guarantees, so you’ll be eligible for any future discounts from the moment you place your order until your Blu-ray ships.

Until Dawn is also getting a DVD release, in case you want to experience the horror film in spine-tingling 480p resolution. Amazon has the DVD version priced at $28.60, while Walmart listed it for $35.

Here’s the full list of Until Dawn special features:

  • Adapting a Nightmare – Director David F. Sandberg and writer Gary Dauberman discuss the inspirations of the film and how they built off of the game world from the hit PlayStation game.
  • Death-Defying Cast – Meet the cast
  • Practical Terrors – A look at the practical effects and props used to garner realistic reactions from the actors and actresses.p
  • Audio Commentary with director David F. Sandberg and producer Lotta Losten
  • Deleted and extended scenes

Buy for $25 / Rent for $20 | Available Now

If you don’t want to wait, you can rent Until Dawn for $20 or buy a digital copy for $25. If you buy the film, you can watch it whenever you want, but rentals on Prime Video have a couple of rules to keep in mind. You’ll have 30 days to start watching the movie after making your purchase. Once the movie begins, it will be returned to Amazon in 48 hours. Your rental/purchase grants access to the 4K and standard definition versions of Until Dawn.

In case you missed it, Until Dawn tells an original story and is set within the same universe as the game. Connecting the video game and the film is Stormare’s character, Dr. Hill, who appeared in both mediums. Another nod to the game is that the movie has the same tone and vibe, as the main characters find themselves caught in a time-loop where they frequently die due to a variety of grisly means. The only way to break this vicious cycle is to survive…until dawn. The film has received mixed reviews, but if you’re in the mood for a cheesy horror-comedy with slick direction, Until Dawn is an enjoyable watch.

You can also pick up the game on PS5, which was given a “cinematic update” with enhanced visuals and sound design. Remade entirely in Unreal Engine 5, the game now has updated character models, environments, interactable props, visual effects, and animations alongside its artistic changes. You can also pick up a few other creepy games from Until Dawn creator Supermassive Games, as the studio specializes in interactive horror stories.

PlayStation Movie & TV Adaptations

Uncharted Steelbook Edition | The Last of Us Season 1 Steelbook Edition

As mentioned, PlayStation Productions has three films under its belt: 2022’s adaptation of Naughty Dog’s Uncharted, 2023’s Gran Turismo, and now Until Dawn. But the studio’s biggest hit–by a wide margin–is The Last of Us, which has its Season 2 finale this Sunday, May 26. PlayStation Productions also has a bunch of other adaptations in various stages of production, including the reboot of the Resident Evil franchise in 2026, Horizon Zero Dawn, Ghost of Tsushima, and a sequel to Uncharted.

But there have been other films and TV shows based on PlayStation games that predate the formation of PlayStation Productions, including Ratchet & Clank and Heavenly Sword, which received a new Blu-ray release last year. Though not technically a PlayStation franchise, the animated film Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children served as a sequel to the hit PS1 console exclusive by Square Enix.

Most of current movie and TV adaptations based on PlayStation video games are available on Blu-ray or 4K Blu-ray. The Last of Us Season 1 recently received a Steelbook Edition, and Uncharted’s Steelbook Edition comes with Nathan Drake’s ring/necklace. Gran Turismo also has a Steelbook Edition, but it’s exclusive to Walmart and is the 1080p Blu-ray version.

Nintendo fans who are interested in watching one of the wildest video game adaptations ever made–the 1993 Super Mario Bros. live-action film–can pick up the limited 30th Anniversary remaster on 4K Blu-ray and standard Blu-ray at Amazon right now. The standard Blu-ray edition is “temporarily out of stock,” but you can still place your order. For the 4K edition, you may need to click “Other sellers on Amazon” and choose the option that is shipped and sold by Amazon.

Meanwhile, Walmart has an exclusive Limited Edition Steelbook of the 2023 animated Super Mario Bros. Movie, which remains the most successful video game film adaptation of all time. A Minecraft Movie won’t be able to catch it, but there’s a chance it will soon become the second game adaptation to cross the billion dollar mark at the box office. You can preorder A Minecraft Movie’s 4K Steelbook Edition for $38 at Amazon; meanwhile, Walmart has an exclusive edition with packaging that can be folded to resemble the Minecraft’s Crafting Table.

Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War, Space Marine 1 spruce-ups coming this year

by admin May 22, 2025

Relic Entertainment is giving its much-loved real-time strategy game Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War a bit of modern day makeover for a Definitive Edition that’s scheduled to arrive on GOG and Steam later this year. Additionally, a Space Marine 1 re-release is on the way.

Starting with Dawn of War, it originally launched in 2004, casting players (in the single-player campaign, at least) as the Space Marines’ Blood Ravens 3rd Company, charged with defending the planet Tartarus from Ork invaders. But away from the campaign, players also got to test their skills controlling the Orks, Eldar, and Chaos. “It’s a perfect gaming world,” Keiron Gillen wrote in Eurogamer’s 8/10 review back in the day, “being exploited perfectly, for the first time.”

Skip ahead 20 or so years, and it’s time to do it all again, thanks to the newly unveiled Dawn of War – Definitive Edition. This bundles together the base game alongside its three expansions – Winter Assault, Dark Crusade, and Soulstorm – all of which equates to “four Classic Dawn of War Campaigns, nine Armies, and over 200 maps”, according to Relic.

And because it’s now 2025 and computers have come on a bit since Eric Prydz’s Call On Me was at number one, there’s also 4K support, upscaled textures (4x the originals), an enhanced battlefield camera, “optimised” HUD and screen layouts for widescreen viewing, plus improvements to world lighting, units reflections, and shadows. Additionally, the Definitive Edition remains compatible with “over 20-years of lovingly crafted community mods”.

Dawn of War’s Definitive Edition – which doesn’t have a release date yet – isn’t the only Warhammer glow-up announced as part of today’s Warhammer Skulls showcase. The original Space Marine is also set to return as an enhanced Master Crafted Edition, being handled by developer SneakyBox. This “thoughtful restoration” of the 2011 PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 shooter features 4K resolution support, modernised controls, an interface overhaul, improved character models, remastered audio, all previously released DLC, and more. It costs £34.99 and launches for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Game Pass on 10th June.

“This is more than just Master Crafted Edition,” publisher Sega writes in its announcement, “it’s a respectful dialogue between past and present, preserving what made the original special while making it shine for a new generation of players.”

Dawn of War Definitive Edition – a modern version of the best Warhammer strategy game ever made – has just been announced

by admin May 22, 2025

This is not a drill, check on the closest 30+ year old Warhammer fan you know. Dawn of War Definitive Edition has just been revealed during the Warhammer Skulls event! A modern remaster of the legendary RTS game, it’ll come with all expansions packaged together in a shiny new package, and is set to release later this year.

The DOW Definitive Edition will feature 4K support, upscaled textures, new models, and various drastic graphical improvements. The camera has been improved, which is a much-needed change, plus the UI and HUD have been overhailed to support widescreen setups. But perhaps the coolest feature of all is the fact that the 20 years history of mods made for the original Dawn of War will still work with the Definitive Edition, which is a brilliant touch.

CEO of Relic Justin Dowdeswell provided the following quote in an accompanying press release, “The Definitive Edition celebrates the original Dawn of War and preserves the legacy of this landmark Warhammer 40,000 title for years to come, Warhammer 40,000 is more popular than ever, and we want new players to experience where the classic Dawn of War franchise began, while providing a platform for our long-time fans to relive it in its entirety.”

This is likely the biggest reveal of the Warhammer Skulls event for many of the old heads watching, as the original Dawn of War is the crowning achievement of the old era of Warhammer games. Bringing it back now, when the IP is getting a surge of life and love, cements the time we’re living in right now as the golden age of Warhammer games. It’s also good to hear know that none of the voice lines or models will be changed aside from technical improvements, which means we should still be able to damn the Space Marines and their metal boxes.
