Here’s the entire soundtrack for Europa Universalis 5 even though the grand strategy game doesn’t have a release date yet

by admin June 22, 2025

Europa Universalis V – Original Soundtrack – YouTube

Watch On

You can now listen to the entire soundtrack for grand strategy game Europa Universalis 5, as it’s been posted to YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music. Composed by Håkan Glänte, the music spans a lot of history and a lot of Europe in an impressive 26 tracks lasting nearly two hours.

As you might imagine, it’s a suitably grand soundtrack for a game that will encompass nearly 500 years of human history, from the medieval world through the early modern period. It focuses on a lot of orchestral pieces, with recognizable inspirations from medieval, renaissance, and baroque music.

There’s even a fitting bit of Bach in there, with an added vocal track above it—Gloria Patri On Bach’s Cello Suite No.1 in G major, BWV 1007: I.Prélude. How pleasantly iconic. (Not sarcasm—trust me, you’ll probably recognize the tune if you hear it. It’s at 38:08 in the YouTube video.)

For hardcore fans of grand strategy games there may have been a little apprehension over the upcoming soundtrack. Andreas Waldetoft, the composer behind the brilliant soundtracks of over a decade of Paradox Development Studio releases, left his exclusive arrangement with Paradox in 2023. Waldetoft’s soundtrack for previous Paradox games were much-beloved.

However, like Håkan Glänte’s previous tracks with Paradox for Victoria 3, this one’s pretty dang good. I’ll let you give it a listen before you decide if it lives up to the legacy, fellow strategy meganerds, but for me it’s another good set with a few true standouts that’re going right on my “good game music” playlist. No, I won’t give it a better name, it has been named that since 2005 and I am now completely set in my ways.

In a hands-on preview earlier this year, PC Gamer’s Fraser Brown said that Europa Universalis 5 might well be “the ultimate grand strategy game.” I spent time with the same build of it, and I’m inclined to agree.

You can find the Europa Universalis 5 soundtrack on Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube. Europa Universalis 5 itself, however, doesn’t yet have a release date.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

Samsung’s entry-level Galaxy Watch 7 has returned to its best price to date

by admin June 21, 2025

I jumped on the smartwatch bandwagon a bit late, but now I can’t go a day without mine. Beyond delivering helpful notifications, it’s perfect for setting timers, tracking workouts, and monitoring my sleeping habits (which are terrible). If you haven’t yet joined the smartwatch party or you’re looking to upgrade, Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 7 is down to $199.99 ($100 off) in the 40mm / Bluetooth configuration at Amazon and Walmart. If you prefer a larger display, the 44mm model is on sale at Amazon starting at $229.99 ($100 off).

While the Galaxy Watch 7 isn’t as flashy as other Samsung wearables, its more simplistic approach is part of its charm. It retains the signature circular design and slim profile of prior models, which remains a stark contrast to the adventure-ready Galaxy Watch Ultra. It’s comfortable to wear while sleeping and working out — as our own Victoria Song noted in her review last year — and it comes with a selection of welcome features, including heart rate tracking, an Energy Score for gauging recovery, and FDA-approved sleep apnea detection.

One of the new marquee tools of the Watch 7 is its AI-powered wellness insights, which provide personalized suggestions to help you hit your health and fitness goals. There’s also a 3-in-1 BioActive Sensor that can measure metabolic health thanks to an experimental advanced glycation end products (AGEs) metric, though both features were rather hit or miss in our testing. Of course, the wearable also offers a range of basic smartwatch features, such as the ability to stream music, send texts, and take calls when your phone is nearby.

Despite its slimmer design, the Watch 7 offers around 24 hours of battery life with the always-on display enabled, though if you upgrade to the 44mm Watch 7, you can eke out a few additional hours. Samsung’s wearable also runs Wear OS 5, as of now, though we’re expecting the Gemini-powered Wear OS 6 to arrive via an update later this year. All that being said, the timing of these deals could indicate that a Galaxy Watch 8 is on the horizon. Samsung typically holds an Unpacked event in mid-July, and this year it may introduce a refreshed lineup of foldable and wearable devices.

Silent Hill 2 Film Adaptation ‘Return To Silent Hill’ Gets January Premiere Date

by admin June 21, 2025

Return to Silent Hill, the next film adaptation of Konami’s popular horror franchise, will premiere in January, according to a recent report by Deadline. The movie was first announced to be in production in October 2022 during the first Silent Hill Transmission.

Return to Silent Hill is being directed and co-written by Christophe Gans, who directed the 2006 Silent Hill film. The project also boasts a soundtrack composed by long-time series composer Akira Yamaoka. The movie is an adaptation of Silent Hill 2, which was remade in 2024, and centers on protagonist James Sunderland receiving a letter from his deceased wife, Mary, urging him to find her in the foggy, monster-infested town of Silent Hill. Despite being the third film adaptation of the franchise and the first since 2012’s Silent Hill: Revelation, Return to Silent Hill is not connected to the previous movies.

The cast includes Jeremy Irvine as James, Hannah Emily Anderson as both Mary Sunderland and Maria, and Evie Templeton as Laura. You can check out the film’s original 2022 teaser (complete with commentary from Gans) below. Return to Silent Hill is set to premiere in theaters on January 23.

It’s been an eventful time for the Silent Hill franchise. Konami recently announced that a remake of the first game is in the works. Meanwhile, the next mainline entry, Silent Hill f, got a new gameplay trailer and a September release date during a State of Play this month.

Arcade rail-shooter House of the Dead 2: Remake release date announced

by admin June 21, 2025

Those of you keen to revisit The House of the Dead 2 via its souped-up remake will be able to do so later this summer.

Publisher Forever Entertainment and developer MegaPixel Studio have announced their rail-shooter The House of the Dead 2: Remake will release across Steam, GOG and Nintendo Switch on 7th August. It will retail for $24.99 (I have asked for clarification on UK pricing).

“Take on the lone role of a secret agent as James or Gary, or team up in co-op mode to neutralise the dangerous creatures standing in your way,” reads the official blurb for The House of the Dead 2: Remake. You can check out a trailer for the remake below.

The House of the Dead 2: Remake – Switch and PC Release Date Trailer. Watch on YouTube

As for what this remake will include, the developer promises features such as:

  • Remastered music (with the classic soundtrack also available in the game)
  • Modern graphics
  • Gameplay faithful to the original game
  • Co-op mode
  • Multiple endings and branching levels

Meanwhile, The House of the Dead 2: Remake will also include various game modes:

  • Classic Campaign: Almost two years after the events of the first installment, AMS agents James Taylor and Gary Stewart are deployed to investigate a city seized by undead creatures.
  • Boss Mode: Take on the challenge of defeating the game’s bosses as fast as you can.
  • Training Mode: Polish your skills in several available training scenarios to improve your abilities before deploying on a mission.

This is the second of the team’s zombie games to get the remake treatment. However, reception to the first House of the Dead: Remake’s reception was pretty mixed.

Elsewhere, The House of the Dead is also set for the big screen, with Paul WS Anderson on board to write and direct. Anderson will also serve as a producer, alongside his partner Jeremy Bolt. The duo have also worked on adaptations for the likes of Mortal Kombat (1995) and Monster Hunter (2020), as well as multiple Resident Evil films.

Eufy’s X10 Pro Omni robot vacuum has returned to its best price to date

by admin June 20, 2025

Now that warmer weather is here, spring cleaning duties are likely falling by the wayside. But the good news is you can enjoy the outdoors and clean your home with zero effort by letting a robot vacuum do the hard work for you. For that, we recommend a versatile model like the Eufy X10 Pro Omni, which is currently on sale at Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy to $549.99 ($250 off), matching its all-time low.

The X10 Pro Omni, one of our favorite midrange vacuum / mop combos, boasts an array of features to help it tackle daily messes, including oscillating dual spinning brushes capable of cleaning dried stains. An onboard water reservoir means the robot vacuum can clean for longer without having to refill its tank as often as some alternatives. Plus, when it’s finished mopping, a heated mop drying function helps prevent the base from smelling like dirty laundry. Unfortunately, however, it lacks a heated mop washing feature.

In addition to mopping, the X10 Pro Omni features 8,000Pa of suction, which enables it to perform well on both carpet and tile surfaces. It also offers excellent AI-powered object recognition, allowing it to avoid pet messes, cables, and toys. That said, we did encounter a few navigation issues during our testing, with the vacuum unable to escape from a corner. While it did get stuck a few times, its lidar-powered mapping is fast and accurate, laying out multiple rooms correctly on the first try.

To round out the Omni’s capabilities, support for the Eufy Clean app allows you to set schedules, establish no-go zones, create virtual boundaries, and more. It can also automatically empty its dust bin and refill its own water tank, so you can set it and forget it while it does its thing.

Silent Hill 2 PS5 Pro patch still on the way, says Bloober

Christophe Gans’ Silent Hill 2 movie adaptation gets a release date

by admin June 18, 2025

Following last year’s slam-dunk Silent Hill 2 remake, the beloved survival horror sequel is being reinterpreted yet again, this time in the form of new movie adaptation Return to Silent Hill. And now, three years after its announcement, it’s been given a release date of 23rd January 2026.

Return to Silent Hill was originally unveiled in 2022, alongside a variety of gaming projects including the unloved Silent Hill: Ascension, Bloober Team’s masterful Silent Hill 2 remake, the upcoming Silent Hill f, and No Code’s still-mysterious Silent Hill Townfall.

Amid that flurry of gaming news, Return to Silent Hill was perhaps a little lost in the throng, but the key bit of information was that it would see Christophe Gans take on directing duties once more. Gans, of course, previously helmed 2006’s Sean-Bean-starring original Silent Hill movie, which certainly captured the game series’ atmosphere – even if it did all start to fall apart in the last stretch, when it suddenly decided it needed to explain itself in a ham-fisted exposition dump that even some high-velocity barbed wire couldn’t save.

Return to Silent Hill teaser trailer.Watch on YouTube

Since Return to Silent Hill’s initial unveiling, it’s been confirmed War Horse’s Jeremy Irvine will star as Silent Hill 2 protagonist James, with Hannah Emily Anderson in the role of his “one true love” Mary (an early leak suggested the two won’t be married in this version). More recently, Gans insisted his adaptation would be a “faithful” one, although a careful reading of the movie’s synopsis does imply some potentially notable changes:

“James, a man broken after his relationship with the love of his life, Mary, ends,” reads the official synopsis. “When a mysterious letter from her calls him back to Silent Hill, he finds a once-recognisable town transformed by an unknown evil. While James desperately searches for Mary he encounters terrifying creatures and begins to unravel the mystery of what happened to the town. But as he descends deeper into the darkness the secrets he uncovers lead to a horrifying truth, and James finds himself struggling to hold on long enough to save his one true love.”

We’ll know if Return to Silent Hill does its source material justice when it hits the big screen on 23rd January next year. However it ends up, Bloober’s remake – which has now sold over 2m copies – is a fine way to experience a bonafide gaming classic. And the studio is about to do it all over again, as it embarks on its recently announced remake of Silent Hill 1.

Date Everything claims to be a dating sim, but it doesn’t love or understand its own genre

by admin June 18, 2025

Romantic games are one of the most overlooked successes in all of gaming. There are million-selling series spanning decades amongst them, and the loosely defined genre thrives on Steam in all its beautiful forms, encompassing everything from breezy pop star fantasies and summer adventures to hot gothic stories. Date Everything, a comedic “sandbox dating simulator” where I romance tables and lamps thanks to a pair of hi-tech glasses, has a lot of competition—and a lot of work to do if it wants to convince me that the jokes here aren’t aimed at the genre, or at me for playing it.

And to its credit, the writing is often genuinely funny. The slight problem is this game clearly has no idea what a dating sim actually is.

There are 100 dateable objects in the house, and I really do have to romance the vast majority of them all at once if I want to see anything close to a semi-satisfying credits roll. This fact alone instantly turns these intimate interactions into a meaningless “Gotta date ’em all!” clickfest (there’s even a date-a-dex installed on my in-game phone, with everyone given an ID number). And it makes me into the gaming equivalent of a brainless cushion-humping chihuahua.

Related articles

No, worse than that—it makes me nothing. I am the submissive counterpart to the attic dominatrix. I am the perfect date of my charming desk. I am loyal to everyone and no one, and worst of all nobody seems to care.

Bedding my bed and getting topless with a trophy has no impact on the “love” state of the throuple I’m in with the washing machine and tumble dryer, and the magnifying glass will treat me like I’m the only one for her even though I’m already sleeping with four dozen different appliances, like a lovesick handyman let loose in a hardware store.

Image 1 of 3

In an actual dating sim, like 1994’s Tokimeki Memorial (and a heaving shelf’s worth of others), pursuing someone takes time and effort, and always comes with risks. Rivalries form when I favour one person over another, or a scheduling conflict or special event forces me to pick a side. If I agree to meet someone next Tuesday, then I’d better meet them next Tuesday or not only will I tank their opinion of me but their friends will hear about it too, and tear my entire social life to pieces.

One of Date Everything’s dates is a cat clock, and their entire personality and mini-storyline revolves around timeliness and scheduling. Makes sense. I agree to make an appointment so we can introduce ourselves properly—12:00pm. The conversation ends. It’s noon. Fantastic, I can keep my promise. Except I can’t, because I already spoke to them today and that means the UI says no.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

So I eventually show up at 12:00… three days later, and that doesn’t seem to be a problem. For the clock. The clock-person whose entire being is all about timeliness.

Without stakes, friction, or consequences, it’s all meaningless. A dating sim where I never have to commit to anyone or anything, and my dates are just passive pushovers who could surely do better than someone who doesn’t care which Thursday they eventually showed up for.

But that’s no problem, right? This is a silly game, so I should just roll with it and enjoy the laughs.

That would be nice. The thing is, Date Everything is silly—until it isn’t.

While talking to my biggest fan—in every sense of the word—I get my first content warning. These give me a quick heads-up when the conversation might veer towards subjects including, and I quote, “PTSD, violence, stalking, manipulation, domination, mental health issues, addiction, and many more…”, and then the option to skip the character entirely (while still receiving the bonuses for clearing their story).

Image 1 of 3

Interactive fiction can be a fantastic place to safely explore these subjects. But this is a game where my microwave is called Luke Nukem, a “warrior” convinced they’re fighting a bizarre sci-fi battle, and my shower talks like Elvis. In this context these dabbles with something deeper feel out of place, as if the drafts for something darker got mixed in with all the pink hearts and lengthy conversations about fitness and makeup.

“If you don’t like sociopaths…” reads one content warning, which, if nothing else, is surely the opposite of someone emotionally available and looking for love. And maybe the personification of my personal diary isn’t the ideal place to drop a random allusion to date rape?

A good dating sim has consistency. A mood, a tone—a promise. It will always offer a reasonably clear idea of what sort of romantic attention I’m in for, and because of that I’ll know what sort of romantic gestures are expected of me in turn. You know, the way Koei’s Angelique managed to do so with its sweet magical fantasy decades ago. On the Super Nintendo.

Pushing on anyway and obtaining the final, final, romantic ending for a particular character sees them… leave me. My ultimate reward, in a dating sim, is to see the characters I’ve poured 20+ hrs of work into and had supposedly heartfelt, life-altering conversations with… leave. Literally as soon as the dialogue box closes. One down, 99 to go. The house I worked so hard to transform into a literally loving home emptied out, one relationship at a time.

Sure, it’s nice that they go off and have fulfilling careers and large families, but am I seriously supposed to be OK with all that because the script assures me some of them come back and sleep with me from time to time? And for a game that’s so quick and careful with content warnings, it’s jarring to see my own sexual consent and personal desires never factor into these endings.

This game has no idea what it wants to do, never mind what it’s supposed to be. Sometimes it’s tooth-rottingly wholesome. Sometimes it’s plain horny. And then just sometimes it ventures into deeply unsettling nightmare territory. It’s like they put 100 short stories, covering everything from popcorn prep to actual murder, in a blender and then locked me in a house with them.

It’s mush in dateable form, a mess of a game that lacks the narrative and mechanical depth of dating sims made before some of the people reading this were even born, and a playable example of why other examples of the genre don’t offer anything close to 100 dateable characters.

Dating sims are so much better than this. I just wish Date Everything knew that.

Minecraft’s “Vibrant Visuals” update finally has a release date

by admin June 15, 2025

Minecraft’s Vibrant Visuals update finally has a release date: 17th June.

We’ve known for some time that Mojang was planning on a visual overhaul for Minecraft, and yesterday (14th June), the studio released a new video not only reminding us just what Vibrant Visuals brings to the game, improving “visual elements such as directional lighting, volumetric fog, and more”, but also how the team achieved it.

MINECRAFT’S VISUAL REFRESH!Watch on YouTube

And the new feature really does elevate the world of Minecraft. As the developer explains, “every biome has their own atmosphere”, so warmer biomes will look more orange and yellowish, while cooler ones will take on a crisper blue appearance.

“This is a visual enhancement – there are no changes to Minecraft’s gameplay,” Mojang said. “For example, visual shadows will not impact light levels in a game-mechanics sense, or affect where hostile mobs spawn. Vibrant Visuals will be easy to access and approachable for many more Minecraft players, as it will be available on many platforms as a simple menu toggle.”

“This is a start on this journey of modernising the look and feel of Minecraft,” explained Vibrant Visuals Lead, Dejan Dimic. “So we look forward to hearing more feedback from the players.”

Vibrant Visuals is coming to supported devices for those running Minecraft Bedrock Edition, and if your device can run it, you can expect the new feature to be on by default once it updates. It still isn’t yet available for Java, but Mojang insists it’s “actively working” on it.

Did you catch the news that the roster of Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is expanding outside of the Sonic universe to include other Sega characters and beyond? As announced at last week’s Summer Game Fest, joining the likes of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles, will be Joker from Persona 5, Ichiban from the Like A Dragon games, Vocaloid artist Hatsune Miku, and – the reason why I’m making this seemingly nonsensical tangent – Steve from Minecraft, too.

It is, of course, a flagship year for Minecraft, thanks to the unbridled popularity of its cinema-trashing live-action movie adaptation.

2025’s Summer Game Fest is its biggest to date, with viewer numbers up 89% on last year’s show

by admin June 14, 2025

Summer Game Fest saw its peak viewership jump 89 percent year-over-year, making 2025’s show the biggest to date.

Between YouTube, Twitch, and X/Twitter, the 6th June livestream topped 50 million views collectively, setting a new record for the show organised and hosted by Geoff Keighley.

We’ve Played Resident Evil Requiem! – RE 9 Hands-On Impressions.Watch on YouTube

Per StreamCharts (via Variety), YouTube saw the most views on The Game Awards’ YouTube channel (which is, of course, Keighley’s other seasonal show), with views up 43 percent compared to 2025. According to StreamCharts’ analysis, the average audience also increased by 30 percent, while peak viewership for SGF on Twitch was also up by 38 percent.

More than 1300 community co-streamers, “ranging from variety broadcasters to Japanese VTubers”, shared the feed live.

“In total, the peak concurrent audience for SGF reached more than 3 million live simultaneous viewers across Twitch and YouTube, with significant year-over-year growth on both platforms in terms of average viewership, watch time, and co-streams,” a press release stated.

It’s now the second-biggest gaming/tech show of 2025, second only to Nintendo’s Switch 2 showcase. March’s Nintendo Direct is third, while Xbox Games Showcase and June’s State of Play come in fourth and fifth place, respectively.

Interestingly, this month’s PlayStation State of Play is similarly breaking records for Sony, as its June showcase smashed prior peak concurrent viewership records, making it the most popular State of Play hosted to date.

Need to catch up? Here’s everything that was announced at Summer Game Fest 2025, and here’s everything that happened at Sony’s June 2025 record-breaking State of Play.
