Roblox kicks off Roblox Developers Conference 2025 with a “suite of innovations,” including an 8.5% boost to creator revenue

by admin September 8, 2025

Roblox has announced a “suite of innovations” across AI and creator monetization, and revealed that over the last year, creators earned over $1 billion through the DevEx program.

At last week’s Roblox Developers Conference, the company laid out a number of new initiatives, including plans to boost the Roblox Developer Exchange (DevEx) rate for all creators by 8.5%, explaining that “now, 100,000 earned Robux will equal $380, rather than $350 when converted to cash.”

Creators will also be able to utilize assets from Mattel, Kodanasha, and Lionsgate, all of which have joined the megacorp’s IP licensing program. This will introduce brands like Matchbox, Polly Pocket, and Blair Witch to the Roblox ecosystem.

Building on the Generative 3D creation tools introduced earlier this year, Roblox also unveiled its new generation of “fully functional 4D objects with AI, new language tools including text-to-speech and speech-to-text APIs, and real-time voice translation technology, and integration of MCP into Studio’s Assistant to accelerate creation.”

The company also revealed Roblox Moments, a “new way for users to discover experiences through short-form video clips of exciting gameplay moments, and creators to reach new audiences.”

“Users can capture, edit, and share clips of their gameplay, which others can click Join to instantly try out the experience themselves,” Roblox explained. “Soon, we’ll release Moments APIs, which will help creators grow their audience and drive stronger engagement.”

“Our announcements ladder up to a broader goal that we announced at last year’s RDC – that 10% of all gaming content revenue will flow through the Roblox ecosystem and be distributed within our community of creators,” Roblox added.

“In order to get there, we are investing in every stage of the creator development cycle from creation to monetization – these new releases are designed to help Roblox creators bring to life compelling content, scale their audience, increase their earning potential, and build successful businesses.”

For more, visit Roblox’s RDC 2025 recap.

Last week, Roblox partnered with the International Age Rating Coalition (IARC) to replace its current maturity labels.

Why SharpLink’s CEO Thinks Bitcoin Creator Satoshi Nakamoto Will Return

by admin September 7, 2025

In brief

  • Bitcoin’s pseudonymous creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, disappeared in 2011.
  • SharpLink Gaming co-CEO Joseph Chalom thinks Nakamoto will return as Bitcoin faces a quantum computing threat.
  • Nakamoto is linked to nearly 1.1 million Bitcoin, valued at over $120 billion.

Bitcoin’s elusive, pseudonymous creator Satoshi Nakamoto has remained in the shadows since his last message in 2011, saying that he had “moved on to other things.”

But SharpLink Gaming co-CEO Joseph Chalom has a “wild theory” that Nakamoto will reveal himself once the original cryptocurrency faces an existential threat from quantum computing.

Some experts believe that quantum computing could become an “existential crisis” for Bitcoin within the next decade, as the community has started to discuss ways to quantum-proof the network. To do this, some have floated the idea of a quantum-proofing hard fork, while others have proposed freezing Satoshi’s quantum-vulnerable coins.

Chalom, who co-leads the $3.6 billion Ethereum treasury company, told Decrypt last week that he believes the Bitcoin founder may reveal himself as this hurdle is attempted.

“I have a wild idea that at some point—five, 10 years from now—when the Bitcoin network needs to be quantum-proofed, there will be some really important decisions around standards and encryption,” Chalom explained. “There’ll be decisions about whether you need to hard fork the protocol [and] what you do with wallets that are dormant.”

“When that quantum moment comes, somebody is going to wake up and say: ‘I don’t want to be forked.’ Or someone’s going to wake up and say: ‘Fork me.’ That’s a lot of money to leave on the table,” he added.”

This theory, Chalom added, is not based on any facts and is just another bold theory to add to the 17-year mountain of Satoshi speculation. However, Chalom did say that if his theory is right, then he believes Satoshi will reveal himself through “some old, OG accounts” that haven’t been active in a long time.

These old accounts could include any of the wallets that many attribute to being owned by Satoshi—identified via a method called the Patoshi Pattern. At the time of writing, these wallets hold 1.096 million BTC, which is worth approximately $121.9 billion, according to Arkham data.

That makes the elusive founder the 12th richest person in the world, according to Forbes, while a 23% move to $150 billion would put him in the top 10. Predictors at Myriad think that such a move is unlikely to be made soon, with 90% voting against Satoshi hitting a $150 billion net worth in September. (Disclosure: Myriad is a product of Decrypt’s parent company, DASTAN.)

Old accounts waking up could also include any of the known Satoshi-linked email addresses or his account on the Bitcointalk forum. These accounts springing back to life to voice Satoshi’s opinion may not necessarily mean revealing his true identity.

Thousands of theories about Satoshi’s real identity have spawned since the Bitcoin white paper was first penned in 2008. Fingers have been pointed at early Bitcoin adopters, government organizations, and even Elon Musk. But Bitcoin backers have yet to agree on a single person.

HBO attempted to unmask the elusive crypto creator in a 2024 documentary, which made the claim that Bitcoin Core developer Peter Todd was Satoshi.

“Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery” director Cullen Hoback highlighted a forum post from Todd to Satoshi, which the director believed was Todd speaking as if he were in control of both accounts. The documentary also pointed to other clues, such as Todd’s writing style, his previous experiments with digital currencies, and his level of computer programming.

Ultimately, however, the crypto community dismissed the theory as speculative and based on false assumptions. Todd also pushed back by posting on social media, “I’m not Satoshi.”

As of now, the mystery remains—but if Chalom is right, then maybe the looming quantum threat will bring Bitcoin’s creator back out from the shadows.

Hollow Knight Silksong features the voice of Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone

by admin September 6, 2025

Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone has voiced a character or two in Hollow Knight Silksong.

Barone’s name was spotted in Silksong’s credits, which you can access from the Extras part of the main menu. And when The Verge asked Stardew Valley studio ConcernedApe if this was the same Eric Barone who worked there, the company’s head of biz dev, Cole Medeiros, confirmed it.

But! Neither Mereidos nor Barone will confirm who Barone voices in Silksong. Medeiros said Barone would rather not say so as not to spoil anything. Barone could potentially be any of the weird and wonderful characters you bump into along the way.

Iron Lung creator gives glowing first impression of Markiplier’s movie adaptation

by admin September 3, 2025

David Syzmanski, creator of the hit indie horror game Iron Lung, gave his first impressions of Markiplier’s long-awaited movie adaptation — and his takeaway should make fans excited.

YouTube star Mark ‘Markiplier‘ Fischbach first announced his ambitious plan to bring Iron Lung to the big screen in early 2023 with a cinematic trailer that mimicked the dark ambience of its namesake.

It’s been over two years since the project was revealed, with the YouTuber giving sporadic updates on the film here and there, saying it was “officially done” in summer 2024.

Things have been comparatively quiet in the year after, with Markiplier saying he’s bent on giving the flick a theatrical release. He’s been working closely alongside Iron Lung’s creator, indie game developer David Syzmanski, who’s gotten a first look at the full film.

Iron Lung creator praises Markiplier’s movie as “very good”

Syzmanski opened up about his impression of the movie in an episode of the Quad Damage Podcast on September 2, 2025 — and it’s safe to say that he’s thoroughly impressed by Mark’s interpretation of his vision.

“It is very good,” Syzmanski said. “I know I am the least unbiased source you could hear from, but the movie is very good. I don’t think people are ready for it.

“It’s a proper ‘movie’ movie. It’s not just, ‘Here, let’s make a fun little movie from the game.’ It’s a serious, proper horror film.”

He reiterated that Markiplier is focused on bringing the flick to theaters, revealing that the project was created “from the ground up” with a theatrical release in mind.

“That’s the hope,” he said when asked about the topic. “That’s why it’s not out yet. The plan has always been for it to release in theaters. It was filmed and scored and everything as a theatrical release. The sound for the movie was created and mixed for a theater, and it makes full use of that.”

(Topic begins at 50 minutes)

Markiplier has admitted that the one thing holding back Iron Lung’s release is his refusal to compromise putting the flick in theaters. Once that happens, fans can finally expect to see it on the silver screen.

“I’m not accepting anything less than theatrical,” he said during an October 18 live stream. “That movie needs to be in theaters. There have been opportunities besides that, but I have not taken them…That’s what I want. That’s what I aim for, and that’s what I think it deserves.”

Markiplier has been intermittently uploading YouTube videos whenever he gets a break from putting the final touches on his movie — a project that has resulted in a few serious injuries for the star, including a hospital visit that resulted from him creating one of the bloodiest scenes in film history.

Left 4 Dead creator teasing new four player co-op shooter

by admin September 1, 2025

Left 4 Dead creator Mike Booth has announced he is working on a new four-player co-op shooter.

In a post shared on reddit over the weekend, Booth said the upcoming game will be “built on the foundations of what made [Left 4 Dead] special”, though he stopped short of giving his new project a name or indeed any concept art.

However, in the words of the developer, “if you enjoyed the teamwork, tension, and replayability of my past games, you’ll probably find this one interesting”.

Booth added this shooter will expand on the co-op gameplay formula in “ways I’ve wanted to explore for a long time”. Curious.

Booth currently works for Bad Robot Games, which is a subdivision of JJ Abrams’ film and TV production company announced in 2018. In his reddit post, Booth said the team is still in the “early stages” of the shooter’s development. There are, however, going to be playtests for a limited number of participants. If this sounds like something you would like to be a part of, you can join the waitlist here.

Left 4 Dead’s creator is making a comeback to create the next big co-op shooter

by admin August 31, 2025

Left 4 Dead creator and lead designer Mike Booth announced that he’s stepping back into game development and feels that there’s some unfinished business. He’s aiming to make the next big co-op shooter.

Left 4 Dead is a series that has only two games, both of which are close to two decades old at this point. However, these two titles still have an iron grip on the games industry, with their influence being tangible to this day.

Mike Booth, the main creator and lead designer of the original game, is coming back with a completely different studio backing him to try and make lightning strike the same spot twice.

What’s more, they’re far enough along in development that they’ve started taking playtest applicants.

Left 4 Dead creator is looking for playtesters on a new project

Mike Booth’s career has hopped around a lot since leaving Turtle Rock Studios in 2012. He was with the studio through Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 but left to join Blizzard and work on an unannounced project.

Turns out this project “wasn’t a good fit” for the company according to Booth himself, and he left to go work with Facebook (now Meta) on VR projects.

These days he works with Bad Robot Games, a subdivision of JJ Abrams’ film and TV production company of the same name. They’ve got a newly formed internal development studio that’s backing Mike Booth’s vision and has been working on this game for a while.

“I’m Mike Booth (creator of Left 4 Dead), and I’m excited to share that I’m working on a brand new project —a 4-player co-op shooter built on the foundations of what made L4D special,” he explained in a Reddit post.

Left 4 Dead 2The cast of Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 are still iconic to this day.

“If you enjoyed the teamwork, tension, and replayability of my past games, you’ll probably find this one interesting. It expands on the co-op formula in ways I’ve wanted to explore for a long time.”

And, while it’s not close to release by the sound of it, he has opened up a signup form for playtesters to get some early opinions on the title. You can sign up for that playtest here.

Upon signing up, there’s a small bit of information about the title, the only thing we currently know about this game other than it being a co-op shooter: It’s currently called “Project Tacoma”.

It remains to be seen if Mike Booth can recapture the magic of Left 4 Dead and create a genre-defining title all these years later. However, considering that the core Left 4 Dead series has no sign of getting a new entry from Valve, fans are excited to potentially get a new game.

The creator of Dread Delusion is making a turn-based JRPG set in another Morrowindy fantasy world

by admin August 27, 2025

Dread Delusion developers Lovely Hellplace and their sinister backers at DreadXP have announced Entropy – a turn-based party RPG inspired by classic Japanese RPGs, which retains Dread Delusion’s fungal pixel aesthetics.

Like Final Fantasy 9, it starts with a theatre show. You play a rank thespian initially equipped with a simple prop sword. But then horrible creatures crash the stage, and it’s time to armour up your troupe and quest forth to snuff out a demon incursion. What’s the best Shakespeare line to invoke here, hmm. Ah yes: “target their elemental weaknesses!” Hamlet said that before he shanked Polonius through the curtain. No, don’t google to check, dear reader – I am in haste. Quickly, watch the below trailer.

Watch on YouTube

“In this dying age, only pockets of humanity remain,” expounds the press release. “There was no grand apocalyptic event to speak of; only the cruel march of time and the inexplicable infertility of the world led us here. Accursed creatures stalk the barren lands between settlements, which are themselves terrible places; squalid, medieval, and mostly ruled by tyrants.” Ah, you’d almost suspect that Lovely Hellspace founder James Wragg lives in England.

Having escaped the backwater-sounding burg of Draenog, you’re left to make sense of an “expansive” world map. I’m interested to know if Entropy will continue with the pocket-sized and Morrowind-flavoured, open world-ish format of Dread Delusion. You’ll gather a party of up to six characters, with the option of hiring mercs if any comrades get slain. There is levelling, needless to say, encompassing stat boosts and unlockable perks.

I’m not wildly convinced by the snippets of battle from the trailer, which seem a bit by-the-numbers, but it’s nice to be engulfed by another dreadful delusion. The new RPG is coming to Steam in 2026.

BioShock Creator Still Not Sure When His Next Game Is Coming Out

BioShock Creator Still Not Sure When His Next Game Is Coming Out

by admin August 27, 2025

Where is Judas? That’s the question BioShock creator Ken Levine keeps getting asked. On Wednesday he took to the PlayStation Blog to tell players he still doesn’t have an answer. “While we wish we could give you an exact date today, we’re not quite ready to finalize that,” he writes, though he does offer some other details.

His new “lo-fi” dev log explains that Judas has no set villain. NPCs called the “Big 3” will share secrets with you, give you quests, and talk shit about the others. Depending on who you engage with and how, one of characters will be elevated into the game’s main antagonist, unlocking additional powers with which to hamper your journey in the process.

“In Judas, you’re going to get to know these characters intimately,” Levine writes. “We want losing one of them to feel like losing a friend. We want to play with that dynamic, and we want that choice to be super hard. The Big 3 are all going to be competing for your favor and attention. They can bribe you, save you in battle, talk shit about the other characters, and share with you their darkest secrets. But eventually, you’ve got to decide who you trust and who you don’t.”

Credit: Ghost Story Games

Ghost Story Games, the studio making Judas, also revealed the game’s key art. It includes the Big 3, killer robots, and ’80s iconography like floppy disks, cassette tapes, and an Atari-esque game stick. Levine confirmed the game recently held a closed playtest and will likely feature over 100 speaking roles by the time it’s complete. He also teased that the key art is intended as more than just an homage to the work of movie poster artist Drew Struzan. “Let’s just say there’s some stuff in this game that we’re not going to talk about right now, but everything here is relevant,” Levine writes.

Despite its already lengthy development cycle, with early elements teased as far back as 2015 and a reveal trailer at The Game Awards 2022, Judas seems unlikely to be launching anytime soon. I’d peg it for a fall 2026 release at the earliest, though spring 2027 seems like a better bet. “As you know, release dates have a way of slipping by, and we’d like to avoid having to change the date after we announce it,” Levine writes.

The director’s infamously difficult production style and the high turnover at his current studio probably haven’t helped. Can Judas live up to all of the procedural narrative ambition Levine is promising? Will it still manage to come out before BioShock 4? We still have way more questions than answers.

How One Roblox Creator Team Made Over $150k In Real-World Dollars With A Simple Red Bow

by admin August 24, 2025

Philipp Batura didn’t expect one of his most successful designs to be a giant red bow. Simple and cartoonishly oversized, the Big Hair Bow became one of Roblox’s biggest fashion hits during Christmas, selling more than 455,000 copies and generating over $150,000 in revenue.

“What’s funny is that it’s such a simple design, but that’s probably why it worked,” Batura told GameSpot via email. “It appealed to a wide audience. I remember logging into games and seeing it on so many players, and I still spot it in YouTube and TikTok videos.”

It’s a story that illustrates how Roblox fashion works and why it’s so different from the real-world fashion industry. In Milan or Paris, designers might obsess over silhouettes or fabric innovation. In Roblox, the fashion ecosystem moves at the speed of memes, and sometimes the winning accessory isn’t high-concept at all; it’s a giant bow anyone can slap onto their avatar.

The Big Red Bow

Batura, who goes by Topcat in Roblox, didn’t enter the User Generated Content Creator program expecting to become a digital fashion powerhouse. He has, in a way, since he leads a full-time team of modelers and a rigger that help him design multiple items a day. When he first started selling avatar accessories in early 2023, he gravitated toward tongue-in-cheek ideas inspired by internet culture.

“The weirdest design I made that sold well was the SIGMA Chain,” he wrote. “It was part of my very first UGC drop in early 2023 and ended up getting over 13,000 sales. That moment was a turning point–it made me realize this could be more than just something I did for fun. It could be a real business.”

That business began with meme-driven accessories like the Mr. Peebles Head–a giant cat head–and the Rizz Frame, a literal frame you wore around your face. They were funny, eye-catching, and briefly popular. But Batura soon realized the downside.

“While meme-based items might spike in popularity, they aren’t a sustainable niche,” he said. “So I pivoted toward streetwear, which allowed for more consistent results and long-term growth.”

At first glance, it might seem strange that the bow outperformed more complex or trendy designs. But in Roblox, simplicity is a superpower. Players want items that work across multiple outfits and social settings. The bow managed to be playful without being tied to a specific meme or cultural reference, making it endlessly adaptable.

It also didn’t hurt that it dropped during the Christmas season, when the Roblox avatar shop is flooded with players looking for festive ways to dress up. Big, bright, and jolly, the bow was the right item at the right time.

Topcat and his team.

And once enough players picked it up, it became inescapable. Roblox fashion spreads not just through the in-game store, but through visibility in popular experiences, streamers’ avatars, TikTok edits, and YouTube skits. The bow wasn’t just an item–it was a trend, woven into Roblox culture.

The success of the Big Hair Bow underscores how Roblox fashion has matured into its own industry. The UGC program has empowered thousands of independent designers to create and sell virtual clothing, and with hundreds of millions of monthly users on the platform, the audience is massive.

For some, like Batura, it has become a career. The fact that one digital accessory can generate six-figure sales is a reminder that digital fashion isn’t a novelty; it’s an economy. Roblox has seen collaborations with luxury brands like Gucci, Ralph Lauren, and Nike, but the real pulse of its fashion world comes from homegrown creators. They move quickly, understand the platform’s culture, and know when to trade high-concept ideas for something as straightforward as a bow.

“Seeing something I created become part of the culture like that has been incredibly rewarding,” he wrote. While it may amuse Batura that his most iconic creation is essentially a cartoon bow, it’s fitting. Roblox fashion is democratic and often surprising. Success doesn’t always come from complexity–sometimes it comes from knowing what players will actually want to wear.

For Topcat, that realization has transformed a hobby into a livelihood. For Roblox, it’s another reminder that in the world of digital fashion, anyone–with the right idea–can become the next big trendsetter.

Amazon-published chaotic dungeon creator King of Meat gets release date

by admin August 22, 2025

King of Meat, the Amazon-published dungeon creator action game, now has a release date: 7th October.

Developed by former Lionhead (Fable) and Media Molecule (LittleBigPlanet) developers, Glowmade’s game will feature over a hundred dungeons at launch for 1-4 players to complete, filled with battles and traps. Then, players will be able to create their own dungeons and upload for the community to play.

King of Meat will be released across PC (Steam), PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, and cost £23.95 for the standard edition (or £39.95 for the deluxe edition featuring extra cosmetics).

King of Meat: Release Date TrailerWatch on YouTube

Ahead of release, Glowmade has stressed the game is not pay-to-win, with all purchases being optional cosmetics, and doesn’t include any form of random monetisation like loot boxes.

Future updates will also be free for those with the base game, though post-launch content is yet to be divulged.

Lastly, for those intrigued, a technical test will run this weekend from 23rd – 24th August on all three platforms – simply search for the game on your platform of choice.

I previously went hands-on with King of Meat last year ahead of its initial unveiling and had a lot of fun with its chaotic party atmosphere.

This is a news-in-brief story. This is part of our vision to bring you all the big news as part of a daily live report.
