Arf, Huma to Join Circle (CRCL) Payments Network for Seamless Cross-Border Stablecoin Payments

by admin September 30, 2025

SINGAPORE — Arf, a Swiss provider of short-term liquidity for cross-border payments, is set to join Circle Payments Network (CPN) in a move that will provide eligible users access to on-demand credit, effectively eliminating the need for prefunding, or tying up a large fiat balance before settlement occurs.

The integration, powered by Huma Finance’s PayFi network, aims to make cross-border stablecoin settlements faster and more capital-efficient, said Irfan Ganchi, senior vice president of product management at Circle Internet (CRCL). Circle is the issuer of USDC, the second-largest stablecoin by market cap.

The development addresses a fundamental challenge in cross-border finance — how to move money quickly across borders without locking up large amounts of capital in prefunding, which limits flexibility and increases costs. Payments giant Visa (V) is also working on the problem and is starting a prefunding pilot for the use of stablecoins through Visa Direct, its real-time payments platform, it said Tuesday.

By enabling on-demand credit inside a major stablecoin network, Arf, which is regulated by Switzerland’s Financial Services Standard Association (VQF), and Huma are facilitating same-day USDC settlement, helping institutions free up working capital, reduce costs and accelerate payments, Ganchi said at the Circle Forum in Singapore.

Real-time stablecoin payments and reducing prefunding hurdles have been longstanding goals in the crypto and fintech industries. However, this partnership stands out as one of the prominent ones to include regulated entities and offer direct integration into a major stablecoin network, such as CPN.

Stablecoin boom

USDC holds a market value of $73.26 billion. Unlike some other cryptocurrencies, USDC operates within regulated frameworks, offering greater reliability and trust.

The adoption of stablecoins in cross-border transactions and other user cases beyond trading has been steadily growing.

According to Payments Consulting Network, 90% of financial institutions have actively integrated stablecoins, with nearly half already using them for payments. Traditional banks are twice as likely to prioritize cross-border payments, with 58% using stablecoins specifically for international transfers.

According to Treasury & Risk, the overall market for stablecoins is poised to hit $3 trillion by 2028.

Circle (CRCL) Tapped by Finastra to Bring USDC Settlement to $5T Global Payments

by admin August 27, 2025

Finastra, a London-based financial tech provider to some of the world’s largest banks, said Wednesday it will connect its payments hub to Circle’s (CRCL) USDC stablecoin, giving banks an option to settle cross-border transfers with the token.

The integration will begin with Finastra’s Global PAYplus (GPP), which processes more than $5 trillion in daily cross-border payment flows, the firms said in the press release.

The move underlines how stablecoins, a group of cryptocurrencies with prices anchored predominantly to fiat currencies like the U.S. dollar, are increasingly being tested by major financial institutions as alternatives to traditional settlement channels. Payments giants Stripe and PayPal already have their own stablecoin infrastructure in place, while several major banks, large retailers reportedly explore having their own tokens.

Stablecoins allow around-the-clock, near-instant settlements at lower costs using blockchain rails, proponents say. Coinbase projected the stablecoin market to grow to $1.2 trillion by 2028 from the current $270 billion, driven by regulatory clarity in the U.S. and accelerating corporate adoption. USDC is the second largest stablecoin on the market, boasting a $69 billion supply.

By enabling settlement in USDC while keeping instructions in fiat currencies, Circle and Finastra said banks can reduce their reliance on correspondent networks, which are often criticized for high fees and slow processing times.

Integrating Circle’s stablecoin rails into Finastra’s plumbing aims to give “banks the tools they need to innovate in cross-border payments without having to build a standalone payment processing infrastructure,” said Chris Walters, CEO of Finastra.

“Together, we’re enabling financial institutions to test and launch innovative payment models that combine blockchain technology with the scale and trust of the existing banking system,” Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire said.

Circle went public earlier this year, with its stock skyrocketing as investors sought exposure to the booming stablecoin market. The firm is also developing its own blockchain dubbed Arc designed for payments.

MSTR, COIN, CRCL Hit by Post-Rally Sell-Off

by admin August 26, 2025

Crypto stocks opened the week under pressure as traders took profits following a sharp Friday rally across digital assets and broader financial markets.

MARA Holdings (MARA) and Circle (CRCL) led the losses, falling about 6% in early trading. Bullish (BLSH) was down 5%, while Strategy (MSTR) slipped 3%. Other publicly traded platforms with crypto exposure, including Coinbase (COIN), eToro (ETOR), and Robinhood (HOOD), also traded lower.

The moves mirrored a broader pullback in digital asset prices. Bitcoin BTC$110,020.53 and ether (ETH) were both down significantly from their weekend highs, falling roughly 4% and 5.5%, respectively, over the past 24 hours.

That Friday rally followed dovish comments by Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell on Friday morning, which briefly boosted risk appetite across markets. Crypto surged alongside stocks as investors interpreted Powell’s remarks as a signal that the Fed may be lowering interest rates next month.

In traditional markets, the S&P 500, Nasdaq and Dow Jones Industrial Average were little changed on the day, as was the price of gold and the yield on the U.S. 10-year Treasury Note.

“The crypto market is grappling with macro pressures: shifting Fed signals, dollar strength, and risk reduction,” LMAX market strategist Joel Kruger said in a note. “While [Powell] hinted at rate cuts, the nuance and less dovish undertone left markets jittery.”

Nvidia’s upcoming earnings on Wednesday will be a key sentiment check for the broader stock market, with further focus on Thursday’s GDP and jobless claims data and Friday’s core PCE, said Jake Ostrovskis, OTC trader at crypto trading firm Wintermute.

CRCL, COIN, MSTR Among Crypto Stock Rally as Powell Signals Possible September Rate Cuts

by admin August 23, 2025

Crypto-linked stocks and digital assets surged on Friday after Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell signaled that the central bank could begin cutting interest rates as soon as September.

The tone marked a shift after weeks of growing investor doubt that the Fed would act before year-end.

Bitcoin BTC$115,897.19 and ether (ETH) both moved higher following Powell’s remarks, as did the S&P 500 and Nasdaq. Shares tied directly to the crypto sector posted some of the sharpest moves of the day.

At the time of writing, Circle (CRCL) led the pack with a 7% jump. eToro (ETOR) and Marathon Digital (MARA) each climbed 6%, while Coinbase (COIN) rose 5%. MicroStrategy (MSTR), which holds billions in bitcoin, gained 4%, and Robinhood (HOOD) advanced 3%.

The moves underscored how tightly crypto assets and equities remain linked to expectations for U.S. monetary policy. Lower interest rates typically ease financial conditions, encouraging risk-taking and increasing the appeal of speculative assets.

U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly called on the Fed to ease borrowing costs. Powell, however, emphasized that inflation risks remain and the labor market continues to show signs of strain.

Still, he suggested the calculus is evolving. “The balance of risks appears to be shifting,” Powell said, adding that while the jobs picture looks stable on the surface, “it is a curious kind of balance that results from a marked slowing in both the supply of and demand for workers.”

That cautious framing helped reassure markets that the Fed is potentially preparing to move to cut rates but not rushing into a decision. Investors had grown less confident about a September cut after a series of firmer-than-expected economic readings. Friday’s comments put the possibility back in play.

Circle (CRCL) Acquires Malachite to Power Its Upcoming Blockchain Arc

by admin August 18, 2025

Stablecoin issuer Circle (CRCL) has acquired Malachite, the consensus engine that is set to underpin payments-focused blockchain Arc, from software development firm Informal Systems, according to a Monday press release.

Several people from Informal Systems will join Circle as part of the acquisition. The firms didn’t reveal details about pricing.

The deal comes as Circle, the company behind the $65 billion USDC (USDC) token, announced last week it’s building its own layer-1 blockchain designed for stablecoin finances, a recent trend among asset issuers aiming to capitalize on the booming sector. Stablecoins, a set of cryptocurrencies with prices tied to an external asset like the U.S. dollar, are projected to become a trillion dollar market and disrupt cross-border payments.

Malachite was built around the Tendermint consensus algorithm and was designed for flexibility and correctness in decentralized systems. Informal Systems developed it as a reusable foundation for blockchain infrastructure, with a focus on performance and security.

Malachite will remain open source under the Apache 2.0 license, leaving developers free to use and extend the technology, the press release said. Informal will continue supporting other use cases for Malachite and advance its other projects, including tools for distributed systems and cross-chain infrastructure.
