Battlefield 6 physical copies are content complete and require no initial install, according to early copy holders

by admin October 8, 2025

Physical copies of Battlefield 6 are in people’s hands early, ahead of the official launch date of the 10th October. As such, it’s been revealed the physical PS5 version of the game is entirely contained on the disk itself. No download required.

This was stated by Reddit User Grecea_Vlad, who posted their early copy of Battlefield 6 online and answered a few questions from the community. They confirmed that no download was required to boot up Battlefield 6 days ahead of launch.

This makes Battlefield 6 a bit of an irregularity. Other large AAA games have required additional content downloads once a disc is inserted due to the hefty file size of these games. It’s also so these games can load faster, as it’s faster for a console to load files from its internal storage than from the inserted disc.

Here’s the Battlefield 6 multiplayer trailer!Watch on YouTube

What this means for Battlefield 6 players who buy a physical version is you’ll simply be able to slap in your physical copy and get straight to playing, which is a bit of a rarity these days.

Other info was revealed about the game courtesy of Grecea’s early copy, including the online servers being up-and-running already. Apparently there are even a few people already online and playing, which is fun.

EA and Battlefield Studios recently revealed the post-launch content plan for Battlefield 6, which will start coming to the game on the 28th October. New modes, new maps, weapons and more will be added to the game entirely for free.

Complete History Of Middle-Earth Collector’s Box Set Restocked With $170 Discount

by admin October 4, 2025

After selling out earlier this week, The Complete History of Middle-earth: Collector’s Box Set is back in stock at Amazon with a massive discount. The 5,440-page, three-book collector’s set is on sale for $80.65 (was $250) in Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days book promotion. The 68% drop–nearly $170 off–is the steepest price cut offered by Amazon since William Morrow published the collector’s set in 2020. Since Amazon has already sold out of this deal multiple times this week, you probably shouldn’t wait too long to snag this one. Like many other J.R.R. Tolkien and Lord of the Rings book deals Amazon is offering this weekend, you need to be a Prime member to get The Complete History of Middle-earth for this low price.

Alternatively, all four of the 2024 hardcover box sets collecting The History of Middle-earth and The Silmarillion are on sale for up to 66% off.

$80.65 (was $250) | Restocked on October 4

Published in 2020 with an MSRP of $250, The Complete History of Middle-earth is a wonderfully designed and constructed box set. Each book is heavy, but even the 2,000-plus page second volume offers a pleasant reading experience. Each book comes with a dust jacket and can be stored and displayed in a premium, custom-built case emblazoned with J.R.R. Tolkien’s iconic logo.

Based on Tolkien’s Legendarium–a massive collection of backstories, lore, and notes covering Middle-earth throughout thousands of years–The History of Middle-earth was originally published from 1983-1996. Christopher Tolkien, the author’s son and literary executor, compiled, edited, and added to the legendarium to create 12 distinct books.

The Complete History of Middle-earth contains all 12 volumes in their original publication chronology:

  1. Book of Lost Tales, Part I
  2. Book of Lost Tales, Part II
  3. The Lays of Beleriand
  4. The Shaping of Middle-earth
  5. The Lost Road and Other Writings
  6. The Return of the Shadow
  7. The Treason of Isengard
  8. The War of the Ring
  9. Sauron Defeated
  10. Morgoth’s Ring
  11. The War of the Jewels
  12. The Peoples of Middle-earth

At 5,440 pages across three books, it’s probably safe to say that these would be the largest books on most fans’ bookshelves. Each of the three volumes was also published individually on the same day as the box set, but at current prices, you’d spend more for two of them than you would for the box set.

The History of Middle-earth Box Sets (2024)

The History of Middle-earth 2024 Box Sets

Though The Complete History of Middle-earth is the most economical way to read all 12 volumes in physical format, the 2024 box sets are certainly worth a look, too. These gorgeous sets include splashy, fully illustrated dust jackets and display cases. If you prefer a more traditional look, the other side of the reversible dust jackets feature the original graphics with solid-color backgrounds.

All 12 volumes are included as individual books across the four sets, but if you go this route, you’ll also get a few extra books. Publisher William Morrow decided to include The Silmarillion as the first book in Box Set 1. The Silmarillion, Tolkien’s best-known work besides The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, is often lumped in with The History of Middle-earth these days–and it makes sense why. Early drafts and parts of the 1977 classic are actually in the 12-volume series. Box Set 1 also includes Unfinished Tales, while the final set has a book-length index.

William Morrow continued its series of decorative Tolkien hardcover box sets this summer with Tolkien Myths and Legends, a four-book box set that’s on sale for $53.70 (was $125), and The Great Tales of Middle-earth, which contains Tolkien’s final three novels and is on sale for $75 (was $125).

The Lord of the Rings Collector’s Editions (William Morrow)

Amazon’s early Prime Big Deal Days book sale is filled with Tolkien books, including multiple collectible editions of The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and The Silmarillion.

Twin Peaks: From Z To A Complete Series Collection Discounted For Prime Big Deal Days

by admin October 2, 2025

Twin Peaks is one of the most memorable TV series of all time. Created by the late David Lynch, who died earlier this year, Twin Peaks was a hit in both the early ’90s and in 2017 when Showtime revived the groundbreaking series for a third season.

As mentioned, From Z to A is a one-stop shop. You’ll get all 30 episodes of the original two-season run, the aforementioned 1992 prequel film, and the 2017 revival that ran on Showtime for 18 episodes. That’s 48 episodes of superb TV and an awesome feature film in one package.

  • Season 1 (1990) — 8 Episodes
  • Season 2 (1990-91) — 22 Episodes
  • Season 3 (2017) — 18 Episodes
  • Fire Walk with Me (1992) – Prequel movie

You’ll also get a long list of special features, including 4K versions of the original series Pilot episode and Twin Peaks: A Limited Event Series Episode 8. Here’s a look at the highlights:

Twin Peaks: From Z to A Special Features

  • The Missing Pieces: Fire Walk with Me deleted/alternate scenes (90 minutes)
  • Behind The Curtain: Making of Footage From Twin Peaks: A Limited Event Series
  • Full-length versions of all Roadhouse Bar music performances
  • A Talk with Kyle MacLachlan and Sheryl Lee
  • On the Couch with Kimmy and Harry
  • 4K versions of the Original Series Pilot and Twin Peaks: A Limited Event Series Episode 8
  • Additional special features from previous Twin Peaks home releases

In total, that’s over 20 hours of additional Twin Peaks content. It’s worth noting that the packaging for this Twin Peaks: From Z to A reprinting differs from the original 2019 version. The new edition uses a plastic case rather than the premium fold-out box of the original, and it lacks the collectible art prints. This cost-saving measure probably makes producing the sets easier, which hopefully means this reprint run will remain in print longer. It’s no longer a collector’s item like the original release, but it does offer an affordable way to watch the entire series on Blu-ray.

Study Promoting Apple Cider Vinegar for Weight Loss Was Complete Bunk

by admin September 24, 2025

Anyone who’s tried to lose weight knows there’s no shortage of products or fad foods out there that will supposedly speed up your slimming. One such advertised food, apple cider vinegar, will have less credibility behind it now, as a clinical trial claiming to show its weight loss success has just been yanked by the publisher.

BMJ Group announced the retraction of the study this afternoon. Originally published last year, the small trial purportedly showed that people who drank apple cider vinegar daily lost more weight than controls over a three-month period. The publisher cited several factors, including implausible data, as reasons to yank the study.

“Tempting though it is to alert readers to an ostensibly simple and apparently helpful weight loss aid, at present the results of the study are unreliable, and journalists and others should no longer reference or use the results of this study in any future reporting,” said Helen Macdonald, Publication Ethics and Content Integrity Editor at BMJ Group, in a statement from BMJ.

Too good to be true

Researchers in Lebanon conducted the study, first published in March 2024 in the journal BMJ Nutrition, Prevention & Health. The trial reportedly involved 120 teens and young adults who were overweight and obese. The volunteers were randomly assigned to one of four groups: three groups were asked to drink different doses of apple cider vinegar (diluted in water) once a day in the morning, while the fourth was asked to drink a placebo liquid.

The trial reportedly ran for 12 weeks, and by the study’s end, the researchers claimed that people drinking apple cider vinegar lost significantly more weight than those on the placebo. On average, people taking apple cider vinegar were said to have lost between 13 and 17 pounds, and those who drank the most apple cider vinegar also tended to lose more weight than the other groups—a potential sign that the ingredient was truly improving people’s odds of weight loss (in medicine, this is called a dose-response effect). People on the apple cider vinegar diet were also said to have improved their levels of blood glucose, triglycerides, and cholesterol as well.

It wasn’t long before outside scientists began to raise red flags about the statistical analysis underpinning the study’s findings, however. The BMJ Group initially saw fit to publish some of these critiques alongside the study itself, a common practice in science. But after further review, they determined that this wasn’t a mere disagreement about some figures here and there, but something more concerning. They enlisted statisticians to examine the raw data and to try replicating the study results from said data.

Ultimately, the outside experts were not able to replicate the authors’ analyses; what’s more, they identified other sketchy stuff. They determined that the data contained “implausible values” and found potential evidence that participants were not truly randomized into their group as claimed. The authors also failed to proactively register their trial prior to performing it—a common precaution against later data tweaking that’s required by the BMJ Group—and didn’t explain their methods thoroughly enough, the publisher determined.

The study authors, according to the BMJ, maintain that the statistical oddities were only honest mistakes in how they presented, exported, or calculated the data. But they’ve nonetheless agreed with the publisher’s decision to retract the work.

Gizmodo reached out to the study authors for comment but did not receive a response by the time of publication.

The weight loss takeaway

Even before this retraction, though, there really wasn’t much evidence to suggest that apple cider vinegar—or any single food, for that matter—can supercharge your weight loss attempt.

Yes, people can certainly lose weight, even lots of it, through healthy changes in their diet and lifestyle. The much harder part is maintaining this weight loss for a sustained period of time, which is why many, if not most, people eventually regain the weight back. Newer options like GLP-1 therapies have made it easier to treat obesity, though these too aren’t miracles with no drawbacks.

Unfortunately, long-term successful weight loss still remains a challenge, and no amount of apple cider vinegar will change that reality.

Chucky Complete TV Series Releases On Blu-Ray This Week With A Collectible Steelbook

by admin September 22, 2025

Chucky has haunted screens and instilled the fear of dolls in the minds of many for decades. Thanks to the long-running film franchise and recent TV series, the creepy doll has become one of the most recognizable horror characters of all time. Soon, fans of the amateur comedian and full-time murderous doll can add two collectible editions from the Chucky franchise to their display shelves. Chucky: The Complete Series Steelbook Edition is up for preorder for $60 (was $65) at Amazon. The Steelbook Edition Blu-ray releases alongside standard edition Blu-ray and DVD collections this Tuesday, September 23.

While you’re picking up Chucky: The Complete Series, make sure to check out the Child’s Play Limited Edition Steelbook. Exclusive to Amazon and slated to launch October 7, this collectible edition of the franchise’s original 1988 film has already sold out multiple times since preorders opened, but it’s back in stock as of September 21.

$60 (was $65) | Releases September 23

Chucky: The Complete Series includes all 24 episodes of Syfy’s awesome TV series across six Blu-ray discs. Syfy canceled the show last fall, a few months after airing the third season. If you’re a fan of the movies and haven’t watched the show, we’d highly recommend it. The series is a sequel to the 2017 film Cult of Chucky. And while it leans more into the comedy, Chucky still commits plenty of gruesome murders. Plus, the show retains Brad Dourif as the voice of Chucky.

The artwork on the steelbook’s front cover looks cool, though it’s not a brand-new design. The image of Chucky sitting against a school locker was first used to promote Season 1, but with “Wanna Play” written in blood instead of “The Complete Series.” The back of the case features polaroid pictures with characters and references. When you open the steelbook, you’re peering inside Chucky’s locker. Along with more pictures, there’s a bloody knife, because the Biology and Literature textbooks wronged him, apparently.

Like many TV series with physical editions, Chucky has only ever been available on 1080p Blu-ray. The discs support Dolby Audio and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. The list of bonus features is a light, but you’ll still find deleted scenes on all six discs along with a featurette called The Legacy of Chucky. In total, the series runs close to 19 hours.

As mentioned, Chucky: The Complete Series also has a standard Blu-ray edition for $50 (was $55) and a DVD box set for $40 (was $45). It’s also worth noting that all three seasons are available on Blu-ray. You’d spend roughly $55 total if you purchased each season individually instead.

  • Chucky: Complete Series:
  • Chucky: Seasons on Blu-ray:

$45 | Releases October 7

Relive the film that started it all with the Child’s Play Limited Edition Steelbook. It includes both 4K Blu-ray and standard Blu-ray copies of the movie, with the 4K scan created from the original camera negative. Both Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision are supported, as is DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. You’ll get a chilling steelbook featuring a close-up shot of Chucky, while a third disc (standard Blu-ray) is loaded with bonus features. Here’s what’s included:

  • Behind-the-scenes special effects footage
  • Howard Berger: Your Special Effects Friend ‘Til The End – Interview with special makeup effects artist
  • Life Behind the Mask: Being Chucky – Interview with Ed Gale
  • Evil Comes in Small Packages – Interviews with Don Mancini, David Kirschner, Kevin Yagher, and more
  • Chucky: Building a Nightmare – Featuring Kevin Yagher
  • A Monster Convention – Archival piece from The 2007 Monster Mania Panel
  • Introducing Chucky: The Making of Child’s Play
  • Vintage Child’s Play featurette
  • Theatrical trailer
  • TV spot
  • Behind-the-scenes photo gallery
  • Posters and lobby cards gallery

All of the on-disc content matches the original 4K Collector’s Edition that released in 2022. You can get that version, sans steelbook, for $29 (was $40).

Chucky: The Complete Series Limited Edition Steelbook (Blu-ray)

All seven films in the original Chucky series as well as the 2019 reboot are available on 4K Blu-ray. The second and third films released in 2022 alongside the original, while the remaining four–all of which abandoned the Child’s Play moniker for Chucky–launched in 2023. If you want a complete “matching” set, the editions below come with cardboard sleeves and have the same style of cover art.

Chucky 4K Blu-ray Collector’s Editions:

All eight movies are also available on Blu-ray for less than $10 each–though if you want all of them, it makes more sense to buy the Blu-ray box set detailed below and pair it with the 2019 reboot separately for $9.50.

Chucky Blu-rays:

Chucky 7-Movie Collection

The original film series is also available in box set format on Blu-ray and DVD for cheap. Chucky 7-Movie Collection on Blu-ray is $42.49 (was $60) at Amazon. In 2023, Arrow Video released a 4K Blu-ray box set called The Chucky Ultimate 8-Movie Collection. It has the original seven movies and the 2019 reboot in 4K with support for Dolby Vision and HDR10. The box set wasn’t released in the US, but it’s region-free and available on Amazon from a third-party seller.

Delivery Must Complete is Devil May Cry for Ace Combat pilots

by admin September 17, 2025

It’s been long enough since I last played an Ace Combat game that I can remember only two things about Ace Combat. 1) This Ace Combat 7 cutscene featuring what appears to be a wavy JPEG of a dog, which the Twitterati all thought was an exasperated animator’s joke, but which I understand is actually a homage to a real staff member’s dog who died before the game’s release. And 2) you can ‘powerslide’ by wilfully initiating a stall, which I think might actually be a move from Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X.

Delivery Must Complete sort of builds a whole subgenre around the thrill of powersliding planes. How does it do this? The clue is that “DMC” is also an abbreviation of “Devil May Cry”. Here’s a trailer. I promise you there will be no further confusing/upsetting references to dogs.

Watch on YouTube

The Steam page calls it “a high speed Acelike Roguelike with SSSTYLE”, featuring cell-shaded, upgradeable jet fighters, four procedural locations, and an enemy roster that includes blimps, dragons and mechs. The story blurb suggests that your overall goal is to make a delivery. What’s the return postage cost for an exploded Sidewinder these days?

In Delivery Must Complete, you will: parry missiles, fire bouncy projectiles out of railguns, deal with varying cloud cover, boggle at fantastical terrain flourishes such as floating islands, build a style meter, and call in orbital strikes. You will not: have limited ammo, though you do have to worry about overheating.

It’s the work of Melbourne, Australia-based developer and gamejam enthusiast Yoyoyollie. There’s no release date yet. Thanks to ae2501maeth for noticing. I’ve been in the mood for a firmly non-simulatory flight sim for a while and this looks like just the thing, though I do have to flag up its mystifying shortage of brewing mechanics.

Popeyes launches Hot Ones menu complete with the show’s hottest sauce

by admin September 16, 2025

Popeyes has partnered with YouTube’s Hot Ones series to launch a new limited-time menu featuring four spicy offerings, including Hot Ones’ most famous sauce, The Last Dab.

The Popeyes x Hot Ones collaboration introduces three new food items along with the hottest sauce in the Hot Ones universe. The launch coincides with a special reunion episode of the show where celebrities, including Keke Palmer, will sample the new menu.

According to Popeyes, the dishes are designed to mirror the heat progression seen on the YouTube series, where host Sean Evans interviews celebrities as they eat wings coated in increasingly spicy sauces.

The new menu starts with a milder option, Sizzlin’ Sriracha Dippers. These feature pickled garlic sriracha-marinated chicken dippers, paired with a buttermilk ranch dip cup and a Hot Ones Sriracha sachet.

The Smokin’ Rojo Sandwich follows as the medium choice, built with a crispy chicken fillet topped with Los Calientes Rojo sauce and tangy pickles on a brioche bun.

The final offering is The Last Dab itself, provided in packets so customers can add it to any Popeyes dish.

Bart LaCount, Chief Marketing Officer at Popeyes, said the collaboration was about pushing flavor boundaries: “By bringing the viral spice challenge straight to our guests’ tables, we’re blurring the line between entertainment and food.”

Sean Evans added: “Bringing our worlds together for this limited-time menu, we’ve created something that’s going to test spice lovers in the most delicious way possible.”

Hot Ones was created by Sean Evans and Chris Shonberger back in 2015, and has became an internet favorite as their YouTube has amassed over 14M subscribers in the years since.

It was originally owned by Buzzfeed, but Evans and Shonberger partnered with a group of other investors to buy it back in December 2024 for a staggering $82.5 Million dollars.

Creepshow Complete Series Collector’s Edition Comes With CRT TV Display Box

by admin September 4, 2025

Fans of the horror-comedy anthology franchise Creepshow now have two cool Blu-ray releases to look forward to this fall. Arrow Video’s upcoming 4K restoration of Creepshow 2 has been available to preorder since July, but now you can also reserve a unique Blu-ray box set collecting all four seasons of Shudder’s recent anthology series. Creepshow: Complete Series Collector’s Edition is available to preorder for $100 at Walmart and Amazon ahead of its November 11 release.

Just like Creepshow 2’s Limited Edition, the TV series collection leans into the franchise’s roots and inspirations with a CRT TV display box containing comic book-inspired disc cases. It looks like an awesome collectible for Creepshow fans.

Creepshow: Complete Series (Blu-ray)

Neither retailer has a full product description for the box set, so we’re not entirely sure what’s going on with the miniature CRT TV in the image above. But with the TV display showing The Creep and the Creepshow logo with a red background, it seems like you can flip between screens. Perhaps with the dial on the front? That said, we wouldn’t be surprised if those are removable cards that you slide into place. Turning the dial to change channels might be wishful thinking. Each of the four seasons has its own case modeled after the in-universe Creepshow comics and Stephen King’s original graphic novel.

The box set also comes with a comic book based on “Skeletons in the Closet,” which is one of the vignettes in Season 3, Episode 2. Creepshow 2’s Limited Edition 4K Blu-ray also includes a physical comic book, but only if you snag a copy from the first printing before it sells out. The comic is an adaptation of an unpublished Stephen King story that was cut from the 1987 film. Creepshow 2 Limited Edition releases September 30 for $50. While you wait for both Creepshow releases, check out the original 1982 anthology’s 4K Steelbook Edition for only $27.79 (was $40) at Amazon.

If you love Creepshow, you’ve come to the right place. Along with details on the two upcoming releases, we put together lists of Creepshow Blu-rays, making-of books, and the ongoing comic book anthology series. So make sure to creep farther down for some great Creepshow deals–unless you’d rather look for yourself, in which case you can check out these Amazon hubs we created: Creepshow Blu-rays | Creepshow books and comics.

$100 | Releases November 11

Creepshow debuted on Shudder in 2019 and quickly became one of the horror streamer’s marquee original series. It was undoubtedly a huge subscription seller for Shudder, especially Season 1 was the best take on the franchise since the original movie.

The anthology series ran for four seasons and 25 episodes, including two TV specials, before ending in 2023. Episodes of Creepshow include a pair of distinct vignettes, roughly 20-25 minutes each.

Franchise creators Stephen King and George A. Romero weren’t involved with the production, but a few episodes are based on King’s short stories, including the show’s very first vignette “Gray Matter,” adapted from a story in King’s excellent collection Night Shift. The 2020 Halloween special adapted “Survivor Type” from Skeleton Crew. The back half of the special was based on “Twittering from the Circus of the Dead” from the story collection Full Throttle by Joe Hill, who also happens to be King’s eldest son.

The 9-disc box set has a total runtime of roughly 18 hours. All 23 episodes and the two specials are displayed in 1080p resolution and support DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. Bonus features include cast and crew interviews, behind-the-scenes featurettes, and photo galleries.

If you’re interested in the behind-the-scenes content, you should also check out Shudder’s Creepshow: From Script to Scream, a 240-page coffee-table book with a foreword by Stephen King.

$50 | Releases September 30

Creepshow 2’s Limited Edition is a native 4K restoration from the original camera negative with HDR (Dolby Vision and HDR10) and three audio formats: 5.1 DTS-HD, stereo, and lossless monaural.

Arrow Video originally created a 2K restoration that released as Creepshow 2: Special Edition back in 2016 on 1080p Blu-ray. The on-disc special features for the 4K release largely mirror the Special Edition. The reversible sleeve and cover art by Mike Saputo matches the 2016 release, too.

Just like the first printing of the 1080p Blu-ray, the 4K release includes two limited-edition booklets. These are no longer included with the standard Blu-ray and were limited to 3,000 units, but now you have another chance. For reference, the first printing has a red sleeve, but after it sells out, it’ll likely switch to a blue sleeve like the Blu-ray edition.

Most notably, you’ll get a booklet with the comic adaptation of “Pinfall,” one of the two stories that were cut from the film. The story was written by Stephen King and adapted into a script by George Romero. Jason Mayoh adapted the story into a comic for the Blu-ray release in 2016. Along with the comic booklet, you’ll get an illustrated booklet with commentary from Michael Blyth.

“Pinfall” has never been published as a short story or filmed, so this is the only way to experience one of Stephen King’s unpublished stories.

Creepshow 2 4K Limited Edition Bonuses

  • “Pinfall” comic booklet (adaptation of unpublished King story)
  • Illustrated booklet with commentary on the film
  • Collector’s sleeve with original artwork and reversible cover art
  • Featurettes, audio commentaries, and interviews

A full list of on-disc special features can be found at the end of this article. For a deep dive on the sequel, check out The Making of Creepshow 2, a 320-page account of the film’s production based on production documents and author Lee Karr’s conversations with cast and crew.

$28 (was $40)

Though you can watch Creepshow 2 without watching the original, the 1982 anthology is a more well-rounded collection of horror-comedy stories, so it doesn’t really make sense to skip it. Plus, it’s already available on 4K Blu-ray. A Collector’s Edition released in 2023, and the awesome Steelbook Edition shown above arrived just in time for Halloween last year. The Limited Edition Steelbook is on sale for $27.89 (was $40), only two bucks more than the Collector’s Edition.

Both editions include 4K Blu-ray and standard 1080p Blu-rays and the same special features. The film was remastered in 4K using the original camera negatives and supports HDR (Dolby Vision and HDR10), Dolby Atmos audio, and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0. Special features include audio commentary with George Romero, a roundtable on the making of the anthology, and a whole bunch more. You can check out the full list at the bottom of this article.

Creepshow 2 Limited Edition (Arrow Video)

Creepshow and its numerous follow-ups blend horror and comedy while paying homage to classic comics like Tales from the Crypt and The Haunt of Fear. Directed by George Romero, the 1982 original is an anthology film with five distinct vignettes. Stories include a murdered man rising from the dead, a mysterious meteor that lands on a remote farm, and a cockroach army that’s hunting a man with Entomophobia.

Stephen King made his screenwriting debut with Creepshow, and two of the five tales were adapted from his short fiction. Creepshow wears its comic book influences on its sleeve, and King adapted the film into a graphic novel the same year the film premiered.

Creepshow 2’s screenplay was written by Romero and directed by the original film’s cinematographer Michael Gornick. Though originally planned to mirror its predecessor with five vignettes, only three made it into the movie: “Old Chief Wood’nhead,” “The Raft,” and “The Hitch-hiker.” All three are based on King’s short stories, but “The Raft” is the only one that has been published and collected in the author’s heralded collection Skeleton Crew.

“Cat from Hell,” the other King story that was cut from Creepshow 2, was included in Tales from the Darkside: The Movie in 1990. The spin-off film was based on a TV series created by Romero in 1983. Given the timing, it should come as no surprise that Tales from the Darkside–also a horror-comedy anthology–existed because of Creepshow’s unexpected box office success. Tales from the Darkside: The Complete Series is available on DVD for $28.

Creepshow franchise 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases

Beyond the collectible editions, the first two Creepshow anthologies are available for around 10 bucks on standard Blu-ray. The Creepshow franchise technically has three film anthologies, but the 2006 straight-to-home-video Creepshow 3 is one that many fans want to forget exists at all (it’s quite bad). If you want to be reminded of it, a region-free Blu-ray edition of Creepshow 3 is $22 at Walmart. All three films are collected in a DVD box set for $25.

Another box set option is the King of Horror 8-Film Collection on Blu-ray or DVD. This one only includes the first Creepshow movie, but you’ll also get The Shining, Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, the 1990 It miniseries, and more.

Creepshow Movies

All four seasons of Shudder’s anthology series are already available on Blu-ray and DVD. The first season is currently quite pricey on Blu-ray, but Seasons 2-4 are around $15 each.

Tales from the Darkside / Tales from the Crypt

If you like the horror-comedy anthology structure, you should definitely check out Tales from the Darkside and Tales from the Crypt.

Creepshow by Stephen King (1982) | Creepshow Deluxe Edition Book One (2024)

Shudder’s series also led to the revival of Creepshow in print. Skybound and Image Comics have published 19 Creepshow comics since 2022, and 15 of them have been collected in paperback volumes. Each volume has five stories written and illustrated by a rotating group of big names in the industry, including Garth Ennis and Joe Hill. As a child, Hill appeared in the prologue and epilogue of the original Creepshow film, and over 40 years later he wrote an official Creepshow comic called Joe Hill’s Wolverton Station.

The first issue in Volume 4 will be published September 17. If you want to catch up on the anthology series, the first three volumes are available in trade paperback for $15 (or less) each. Volume 3 was published in April, and Volume 4’s paperback edition is expected to release next March. Last holiday season, Image Comics published a hardcover Deluxe Edition compiling the first two volumes. Amazon has Creepshow Deluxe Edition for $21 (was $40), which is almost exactly the same price as the two paperback editions combined.

Joe Hill’s Creepshow comic and three others are one-shots that aren’t included in the collected volumes, but you can buy digital editions for Kindle for a couple bucks each. All 19 Creepshow comics released so far can be purchased as a digital bundle for $40. But Before reading the new series, we’d highly recommend Stephen King’s original graphic novel, which is available in paperback for only $15 (was $20) at Amazon.

Morrowind is being ported into Elden Ring by a modder, complete with the vast army of goats and female clones Vvardenfell’s always had

by admin September 1, 2025

Remember when, back in the day, you made the trek through the ashlands to Red Mountain? Within, you encountered an unforgettable foe. “Come, Nerevar. Friend or traitor, come. Come and look upon the Heart, and Akulakhan. And bring Wraithguard… I have need of it”, they said. “Heed my words. I am Malenia. Blade of Miquella. And I have never known defeat.”

Okay, so maybe not, but it’s a nice image with which to open the news that a modder’s managed to port the entirety of Morrowind’s landmass into Elden Ring. It’s still very much a work-in-progress, as you might expect given its version of Vvardenfell’s populated by copies of the same random woman and goats, but it certainly makes for a surreal watch.

“Morrowind is one of my favorite games of all-time, but god damn is it dated,” the modder in question, YouTuber InfernoPlus, explained in video showing off their Elden Scrolls. “So, my goal here is to try and combine the world and lore of Morrowind with the combat of a Souls game. Basically, just taking the best parts of both and slapping them together into a common fruit and scrib jelly sandwich.”

The result so far is a really cool re-creation of all the locations you remember from Morrowind, rendered with the extra fidelity and weather effects possible in the engine of a modern FromSoft game. You can wander through the streets of Balmora, gaze out at the ghost fence from Red Mountain, and even pop by Vivec to dick around on its namesake’s favourite hovering spot.

You won’t find the Warrior-Poet there though, nor any other Dunmer, Argonians or other Elder Scrolls races across the landscape of Dagoth Souls though. As I mentioned, InfernoPlus has stuck clones of a generic Elden Ring lady in as placeholders for humanoid NPCs, with goats serving the same role for every creature. These mysterious women, who one can only assume are evidence of Divayth Fyr getting up to even more daughter-clone-siring than in the base game, do have written dialogue, but only speak the sound of a page turning. They all also assume the player’s already dealt with Dagoth Ur, which is probably why they look to be in happier spirits than the game’s usual insult-spitting blue blokes.

“I’ve done a fair bit of research on what remaining work is left, and from what I can tell, everything I want to do is possible,” the modder explains later on the video. “It really just comes down to the number of hours it’s going to take to build it all out.”

Interestingly, he notes that he tried cramming Morrowind into both the original Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3 before turning to Eddie Rang, because it’d come without the headache of being close to the world-loading restrictions. He’s also not worried about any Lionel Hutzes from Bethesda or FromSoftware potentially seeing one of the couple of videos he’s now posted about the mod, declaring that “this project does not violate any copyright whatsoever”.

If, or when, this mod makes it to release, InfernoPlus adds that it’ll work a bit like the Tale of Two Wastelands mod which merges Fallout 3 and New Vegas into one experience that allows you to travel between the two games’ worlds. As such, you’ll need to own a copy of Morrowind and a copy of Elden Ring to give it a go.

Castlevania Complete Series Blu-Ray Preorders Restocked At Amazon

by admin August 30, 2025

Castlevania: Complete Series Limited Edition is finally back in stock at Amazon for $150 (was $155). When preorders first opened July 31, Amazon sold out in less than 24 hours. The pricey box set remained out of stock at Amazon throughout August. Castlevania fans who missed out on preordering the first time have another chance to reserve the collectible box set ahead of its September 30 release. If Amazon sells out again, Walmart also opened preorders for the same price–technically it’s sold/shipped by Gruv–and you can preorder at Crunchyroll for $155.

Castlevania: Complete Series includes all four seasons of Netflix’s original Castlevania animated series. The limited-edition box set is packaged in a fancy faux-woodgrain box that houses the Blu-rays and a handful of collectibles, including an art book Ouija board, Tarot deck, and more.

Castlevania: Complete Series – Limited Edition (Blu-ray)

Notably, this collection does not come with either season of Nocturne. Season 1 of the follow-up series released on Blu-ray last fall, but Season 2 remains stuck on Netflix. To complete your Castlevania Blu-ray collection, you can pick up Nocturne Season 1 for $23 (was $40) at Amazon. Prices in the sub-$20 range for individual seasons of the show are what make Castlevania: The Complete Series a steep ask at full price. At $150, the Limited Edition box set is roughly $95 more than you’d spend buying these three Blu-rays: Seasons 1-2 bundle ($18.77), Season 3 ($19.53), and Season 4 ($20).

$150 (was $155) | Releases September 30

Castlevania: The Complete Series comes with all four seasons of the original animated Netflix show across six Blu-ray discs. The total runtime for Castlevania’s 32 episodes is 13 hours and 20 minutes; episodes range from 22-31 minutes each. Castlevania: The Complete Series is bundled inside a woodgrain-style box with decorative gold trim and a portrait of the main characters.

Here’s the full list of physical and on-disc extras that come with the Limited Edition:

  • 72-page Art Book
  • Ouija Game Board with Planchette
  • Castlevania Tarot Card Deck
  • 2 Window Cling Art Pieces
  • Collector’s Box
  • On-disc bonus content:
    • Art Galleries
    • Storyboards
    • Trailers
    • Production Animatics
    • Voice Actor Interviews

Castlevania debuted on Netflix in 2017 with a four-episode arc. It was a huge hit out of the gate. Season 2’s eight episode arc dropped in 2018 and was followed up by two 10-episode seasons in 2020-21.

The Limited Edition Blu-ray box set looks like a cool collectible and display piece for big fans of Konami’s classic game franchise and Netflix’s stylish adaptation.

We’ve listed all of the Castlevania Blu-rays below for comparison. Buying the first two seasons together is cheaper than grabbing them separately, but there is a Season 1 bundle that includes a cool T-shirt for $20.

To spend even more time with Netflix’s Castlevania series, check out the superb official art book published by Dark Horse in 2021. Castlevania: The Art of the Animated Series is on sale for $27.74 (was $40) at Amazon.

A couple of Netflix’s other animated series based on video game franchises have upcoming Blu-ray releases, too. Season 2 of Arcane: League of Legends launches on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray on October 21. Just like Season 1, Arcane’s final season is getting two different Limited Edition Steelbooks. Check out our Arcane 4K Blu-ray buying guide for more details.

As mentioned, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will finally release on Blu-ray this October as a Crunchyroll Store exclusive. Fans can preorder Cyberpunk: Edgerunners for $124 (was $155) ahead of its October 23 launch.
