Bose’s compact TV Speaker is more than $100 off right now

by admin August 23, 2025

If you’re looking to upgrade your movie night, a soundbar is an easy way to beef up the audio. While there are some high-priced options out there, you don’t have to spend a lot to actually hear a movie’s dialog. Right now, the Bose TV Speaker is down to $163.45 (about $115 off) at Amazon, the lowest price we’ve seen yet.

The Bose TV Speaker is a solid starter soundbar that can easily integrate into existing setups with a simple one-cable connection (via optical or HDMI). At under 24 inches wide and around two inches tall, the soundbar features a small footprint, yet it delivers a rich, immersive sound thanks to its three-speaker setup. For more bass, you can press the “Bass” button on the remote, while a dedicated dialogue mode further elevates what people are saying, allowing you to finally turn off the subtitles.

Additionally, the Bose TV Speaker has Bluetooth connectivity, so you can use the soundbar to listen to music or podcasts. While it lacks more premium features like Dolby Atmos, Bose offers some of our favorite noise-cancelling headphones and earbuds, so you can expect a similar level of quality in its home audio products.

Best GoPro Camera (2025): Compact, Budget, Accessories

The Top 3 GoPro Hero Cameras Compared

GoPros to Avoid

GoPro doesn’t sell anything older than the Hero 12, but there are plenty of Hero 11s and even Hero 10s out there for sale on the internet. We suggest avoiding them. They may work fine, but modern accessories designed for later models won’t work, and these cameras have likely been through the wringer. (They are action cameras, after all.)

GoPro

Hero 11 Black

GoPro no longer sells the Hero 11, but it’s still commonly available on Amazon and other retailers. Unfortunately it’s usually the same price as the Hero 12 (around $300) and therefore not worth buying.

GoPro

Hero 10 Black

The Hero 10 is really showing its age at this point, but it can sometimes be found on sale for $200, but the video quality and stabilization aren’t nearly as good as the Hero 13, which also sells for about $220 and is better in every way.

What About the GoPro Max?

What most people call a “GoPro” is in fact the Hero Black camera. GoPro makes a few other cameras as well, most notably the Max. The Max is GoPro’s attempt at three cameras in one. It can shoot 360 footage and Hero-style video and photos, and it works as a vlogging camera. While the 360-degree time lapse feature is awesome, and the sound is pretty good, it’s been a while since GoPro updated it, and there are better 360 cameras. Our top pick is Insta360’s X5. The GoPro Max might be more durable, but in nearly every other way the X5 bests it. Hopefully, GoPro will update the Max in 2025.

The Best GoPro Accessories

Should you buy a bundle? Generally, I say no. Get the camera, figure it out, and see how you end up using it. When you find yourself trying to solve a problem, start looking for an accessory. Here are some of my favorite things that I’ve tested and used, but if you have favorites you think I should try, drop a comment below.

A good MicroSD card for $60: According to GoPro’s recommendations, you want a microSD card with a V30 or UHS-3 rating. That said, GoPros can be finicky about SD cards. I’ve had good luck with, and recommend, the Samsung linked here. Another card I’ve used extensively is the Sandisk Extreme Pro.

GoPro Media Mod for $80: By far my most used accessory, the media mod does add some bulk, but in most cases this is more than made up for by the fact that you can plug in a real microphone (I use mine with a Rode Wireless). Sound quality is radically improved with this one. This may be less necessary if you get the Hero 12 or later, since those models do have support for Bluetooth mics.

GoPro Handlebar Mount for $40: I’ve been doing a lot more riding lately and this mount pretty much lives on my bike these days. It’s been rock solid in my testing, and beats any of the third-party mounts I’ve tested.

GoPro Tripod Mount Adapters for $30: Unless you have the Hero 12 or 13, which have a tripod mount built-in, you’ll need a few of these to mount your GoPro to a tripod like the GorillaPod above.

GoPro Floaty for $35: If you’re getting anywhere near the water, grab one of these. Trust me, you will drop your GoPro and when you do, you will glad you have this (unless the water is clear and you’re a good free diver.) GoPro also makes a Floating Hand Grip ($23), which not only floats but has a leash for diving or surfing.

GoPro Selfie Stick for $80: This 48-inch extension pole collapses up surprisingly small and isn’t very heavy. It’s the best selfie stick I’ve used. I rarely use it for selfies, but it makes a great monopod on soft ground, like a sandy beach.

DaVinci Resolve Studio for $300: This is my video editing software of choice. There is a free version, but I got tired of converting media to fit the restrictions of the free version. Best money I ever spent when it comes to making better videos.

Compact Thunderbolt 5 and OCuLink eGPU flaunts RTX 4090 Laptop GPU

by admin June 3, 2025

If your device doesn’t have discrete graphics, eGPUs are an excellent option for enhancing graphical performance. The FNGT5 Pro (via CNU) from Chinese mini-PC maker FEVM is worth considering; it’s an eGPU with Thunderbolt 5 and OCuLink support, offering graphics options up to a GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop graphics card.

Measuring 5.59 x 3.94 x 2.36 inches (142 x 100 x 60 mm), the FNGT5 Pro is compact but not pocket-sized. Its volume is just 0.86 liters, making it very portable and easy to carry in your luggage. The design looks attractive overall and features multiple air vents on every side of the device. The single 9215/9015 cooling fan provides active heat dissipation and is replaceable in case you want to use a different one.

FEVM has opted for Nvidia’s latest GeForce RTX 40-series (codenamed Ada Lovelace) Laptop graphics cards for the FNGT5 Pro, likely considering cost and availability. You can choose from three graphics options: the top-tier GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop, the GeForce RTX 4080 Laptop, or the basic GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop. Unfortunately, there is no middle option as FEVM does not provide the GeForce RTX 4070 as a choice.

Unlike other eGPUs with either Thunderbolt or OCuLink support, the FNGT5 Pro synthesizes features from both worlds. By utilizing Intel’s JHL9480 (codenamed Barlow Ridge) controller, the FNGT5 Pro provides Thunderbolt 5 connectivity alongside the traditional OCuLink (PCIe 4.0 x4) interface.

The FNGT5 Pro is in no way short of connectivity. The device offers two Thunderbolt 5 ports (one upstream with 100W PD power output and one downstream with 30W PD power output), one USB Type-A 10 Gbps port, and one OCuLink port. Display outputs include one DisplayPort 1.4a output and one HDMI 2.1 port. FEVM didn’t integrate a power supply into FNGT5 Pro, so it still relies on a 20V DC power adapter. However, you shouldn’t need it if you use the Thunderbolt 5 connection since the upstream port supports 100W.

The FNGT5 Pro is not an inexpensive device. The base configuration featuring the GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop goes for $555. In contrast, the more powerful GeForce RTX 4080 Laptop alternative will cost $1,040. Should you desire the flagship GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop, be prepared to invest approximately $1,374, which is comparable to buying a GeForce RTX 5080.

FEVM products are seldom found outside the Chinese market. Occasionally, they become accessible on e-commerce sites like AliExpress. The FNGT5 Pro can currently be purchased on JD.com, indicating that it might soon be available on AliExpress as well.
