Ready Or Not Community Manager Fired Over Charlie Kirk Comment

The community manager for the popular and controversial online SWAT simulator Ready Or Not was fired after posting in the game’s official Discord server that “nothing of value was lost” following the recent assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.

On or around September 17, Ready Or Not’s community manager, known online as Kaminsky, was asked to add “Charlie Kirk” and a few variations of the name to the server’s list of filtered words. Kaminsky confirmed they had done so, but then shared their own personal thoughts about Kirk, who was murdered at a speaking event on September 10 in Utah. The community manager posted:

“Funny you mention that because me and my roomate are literally just talking about him getting shot. All I have to say is: Nothing of value was lost.”

Screenshots and posts of this comment were quickly shared online by fans of Kirk and right-wing content creators, with many demanding that Void Interactive fire the manager. And that’s exactly what Void did.

On Friday, a Void Interactive representative confirmed in Ready Or Not‘s official Discord server that the studio had “ended” its “relationship” with Kaminsky. It’s unclear if the community manager was a full-time employee or a volunteer. Before the news was official, fans had spotted that Kaminisky, often referred to as Kam online, was no longer listed as being a part of the server. One Discord user in the game’s server claimed that a sticker emoji featuring Kaminsky had also been removed.

Kotaku reached out to Void Interactive for comment. Kaminsky could not immediately be contacted.

“To Our Ready or Not Community, We are aware of comments made by our community manager about a recent tragic event,” posted Void Interactive rep Gerby on Discord. “These statements do not reflect our values or represent our company. We have ended our relationship with this individual and reminded our team of the responsibility we all share when communicating on public platforms. Our focus remains on fostering a respectful and professional community around Ready or Not.”

This isn’t the first video game industry employee to lose their job after saying the wrong thing about Kirk’s recent murder. Last week, a developer working on Ghost of Yotei was fired by Sony after making a joke about Kirk’s alleged assassin. The alleged killer’s connection to video games has become a big part of the story around Kirk’s murder, with reports that some of the assassin’s bullets had messages etched into them referencing Helldivers 2. Meanwhile, ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel is also facing pressure to apologize after comments he made about Kirk got his show pulled “indefinitely” on Thursday.

Updated: 9/19/2025, 3:30 p.m. ET: When asked for further comment, Void Interactive PR pointed Kotaku to the studio’s previously mentioned statement, which has also been posted on Ready or Not‘s Steam page.

US Treasury Seeks Public Comment On Implementation Of GENIUS Act – Details

The United States Treasury Department has opened a request for public comment on the implementation of the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for US Stablecoins (GENIUS) Act. The GENIUS Act, signed into US law in July, was designed to provide a regulatory framework for stablecoin issuers.

This latest call for public input comes exactly a month after the Request for Comment on Innovative Methods to Detect Illicit Activity linked to payment stablecoins. At the time, the US Treasury was interested in gathering feedback on different technologies to identify and combat the risks associated with these dollar-backed digital assets.

Call For Public Comment On Stablecoin Act To Close In 30 Days

On Thursday, September 18, the US Department of the Treasury issued an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM), calling on the public for comments on the implementation of the GENIUS Act. This request will allow a wide range of stakeholders to contribute, by offering data and other information, to the implementation of this law.

The press release read:

The GENIUS Act tasks the Treasury with issuing regulations that encourage innovation in payment stablecoins while also providing an appropriately tailored regime to protect consumers, mitigate potential illicit finance risks, and address financial stability risks.

This notice asked for comments and views on a plethora of questions, including whether extra clarity is needed on the amount of reserve assets required to be held in custody. “Are there foreign payment stablecoin regulatory or supervisory regimes, or regimes in development, that may be comparable to the regime established under the GENIUS Act?” another question posed.

Some of the other questions asked in this notice include marketing restrictions, balancing state-level and federal oversight, and the application of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), anti-money laundering regulations, and sanctions obligations. The Treasury Department noted that the public should submit their comments in response to the ANPRM within 30 days of publication in the Federal Register.

Crypto Market Structure Bill To Undergo Vote In September

Indeed, signing the GENIUS Act into law represented a major breakthrough in regulating the crypto landscape in the United States. In its next move, the US Senate is looking to hold a vote on the crypto market structure bill, titled the Responsible Financial Innovation Act 2025, before the end of September.

The digital market structure bill is aimed at clarifying the roles of various financial agencies in the oversight and enforcement of crypto regulations. In an updated version, the Senate Banking Committee addressed the issue of blockchain developers being treated as financial institutions and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) being treated as securities.

Bwipo responds to backlash for comment about women’s esports and FlyQuest suspension

League of Legends professional Gabriël ‘Bwipo’ Rau has responded to backlash after he said that women shouldn’t compete in gaming while on their period.

On September 9, FlyQuest star Bwipo was plunged into hot water after making comments about women competing in League of Legends while on their period. The Belgian initially said “there’s just not enough support for female pro players” during “their monthly cycles.” However, it was his subsequent comments that sparked outrage.

“I think a lot of people, even men, get tilted out of their f**king minds when they play League of Legends. When a woman is on the wrong part of the month, for playing competitively — you know what I mean? There is a time of the month where you should not be playing competitive games as a woman, in my opinion,” he said back on September 2.

“This is my experience. I lived with one for a while, and she played a lot of League ranked. It was really obvious when she was getting super irritated at every little thing. I’m not trying to be sexist or anything, that’s just the way it was.”

Bwipo apologizes after FlyQuest suspension

Those resurfaced comments led to numerous women in esports hitting out at Bwipo, including Sjokz, who called her fellow Belgian’s comments “ignorant.”

Bwipo ultimately apologized for his comments on September 10. “Hi everyone, I know I f*cked up. My comments were ignorant and disrespectful to women, including those close to me,” he posted on X (formerly Twitter).

“I’m sorry to those I hurt. I regret using my platform to fuel vitriol and sexism instead of support, and I’ll be taking steps to reflect, listen, and do better.”

Bwipo was suspended by FlyQuest for the comments. The organization also made a donation to organizations that benefit women in gaming with his prize money.

He will miss their next series in the LTA playoffs against Vivo Keyd Stars. However, there is no indication as to whether or not he’ll also face punishment from Riot Games and LTA.
