James Gunn May Have Spoiled Some ‘Superman’ Stars Coming to the ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 Finale

by admin September 24, 2025

As Peacemaker‘s second season has been unfolding, its final stretch of episodes has been kept under lock and key to prevent spoilers from spreading online. Only the first five episodes (of eight total) were sent to reviewers, specifically because DC Studios head honcho James Gunn didn’t want to ruin any big moments. That includes not telling his publicist what’s what. Which makes the whole secrecy surrounding Peacemaker season two’s finale all the more ironic, as Gunn wound up spoiling it himself.

According to GamesRadar+, in the director’s commentary of Superman, Gunn revealed that he recycled a set from the film where government authority figures were trying to figure out what to do with the Kryptonian, teasing that some other Superman characters would be making their return in Peacemaker.

“The Saturday after we did [this Superman scene], we shot a scene from Peacemaker [season two] episode eight, because it had a lot of the same cast from Superman,” Gunn said. “It had James [Hiroyuki Liao] as Mori and Frank [Grillo] as Rick Flag, and then a couple of other people. I think this will have already aired when this director’s commentary comes out, but I’m not sure actually—I’ll leave the secrets there.”

Seeing as how Gunn went on record to say that Superman‘s digital release came way uncharacteristically early to make way for Peacemaker, Gunn being the inception point of spilling the beans on a Superman spoiler, however vauge, is almost ironic given he’s had to do damange control from rampant DC Studios rumors about film plots telling fans to chill out and not believe anything unless it comes from him.

While Gunn doesn’t go on to outright reveal whether those other people would be Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor or David Corenswet’s Clark Kent, who are already poised for an uncanny team-up in the sequel Superman film Man of Tomorrow, there’s enough evidence to suggest that at least the latter will make an appearance in Peacemaker.

The above whoopsie daisy on Gunn’s part retroactively made a seemingly innocuous post from Corenswet, made earlier this month, seem less like a passing of the torch from Superman to Peacemaker as DC Studios’ new obsession, and more like a straight-up spoiler in plain sight, all but confirming his appearance. At the time, Corenswet’s post was characterized online as him visiting the Peacemaker set while shooting Superman and taking a quick candid photo with John Cena to drum up hype for the show.

Given Peacemaker‘s track record of wasting no time to reveal Cena’s Christopher Smith is not a huge fan of big blue in its opening scene, retconning the Justice Gang appearing instead of the Justice League in its season one finale, the likelihood the two will square off at some point in Peacemaker‘s safeguarded season two finale feels all but assured.

Another piece of evidence supporting this theory is James Gunn’s own wife and Peacemaker star Jennifer Holland, who revealed to Phase Hero podcast that the final three episodes would have significant implications for the rebooted DC universe moving forward. Gunn shared the same sentiment, saying this season would “directly” tie into Man of Tomorrow in the same interview. Still, Gunn acquiesced to not wanting the big moment to be spoiled.

“It could mean they’re terrible,” Gunn said on the Phase Hero podcast. “That is one option. Or it could mean that there’s a lot of major twists and turns in the last three episodes… I really don’t want what’s in those last three episodes to be spoiled. And so I’m keeping them close to the chest. I won’t even let my publicist see them. That’s the god’s honest truth.”

Whatever the case, Superman fans will have to tune in to Peacemaker and find out if Clark Kent, Lex Luthor, or any other prominent cast members will make an appearance when new episodes of the show air on Thursday night on HBO Max.

$167 Million in Solana Bagged By Major Tech Giant, What’s Coming?

by admin September 23, 2025

A few days after Pantera-backed Helius Medical announced plans to adopt a digital asset treasury strategy focused on accumulating SOL, the company has made its first major purchase, according to a CoinMarketCap report today.

For the first time, the medical device company has purchased over 760,000 Solana, worth about $167 million, at an average price of $231 per SOL. The move marks its first step toward building the previously announced $500 million Solana treasury.

Following the firm’s decision to heavily bet on the sixth-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, investors have expressed optimism about Solana’s price potential amid growing institutional adoption.

Helius Medical further revealed that the vision behind the treasury launch is not only to hold Solana long-term, but also to explore opportunities in staking and decentralized finance (DeFi) to put its tokens to work.

With its sights set on further SOL accumulation in the near future, Helius Medical reports holding over $335 million in cash reserves allocated to the execution of its digital asset strategy.

Solana retrieves $220 mark

Amid the broader crypto market downturn, Solana’s price fell sharply, recording an intraday low of $212.80 on Tuesday, September 23rd.

While Solana experienced a heavier decline the previous day, with its price dropping over 6%, it has shown steadier price action today, flashing signals of a potential recovery after reclaiming the $220 level.

Market watchers remain largely unfazed by the ongoing downturn, anticipating a major rally in the near term, particularly for Solana.

Solana continues to attract institutional interest thanks to its robust infrastructure for large-scale business use. Its momentum is not solely driven by speculation but also by real-world adoption and expanding use cases.

In recent weeks, Solana has made significant strides in the DeFi ecosystem as users increasingly stake funds within its network amid surging engagement.

Boasting speed, low fees, and scalability, Solana enables investors to maximize returns through regular spot trading as well as exclusive DeFi opportunities, including lending, building, and staking.

Jimmy Kimmel Isn’t Coming Back for Everyone. How to See If You Can Watch Tonight

by admin September 23, 2025

Millions of Americans are set to miss Jimmy Kimmel’s return to late-night TV on Tuesday, as two major owners of local ABC stations said that they still plan not to air the show.

Nexstar announced today that it is joining Sinclair in continuing their previous plans to preempt Jimmy Kimmel Live! indefinitely. Together, the two companies own more than 23 percent of local TV stations that are affiliated with ABC’s national programming. Viewers relying on those stations will instead have to settle for local news.

Nexstar’s announcement comes a day after Disney, which owns ABC, said the late-night talk show would return on Tuesday. The show had been suspended last week following comments Kimmel made after the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Disney’s decision to temporarily pull the show, under pressure from Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr, set off a firestorm of its own and fueled a heated national debate over free speech.

Politicians, free-speech advocates, and Hollywood stars came to Kimmel’s defense in the days that followed. And a call to boycott Disney, including canceling Disney+ subscriptions, also went viral online, hitting Disney stock, prompting the House of Mouse on Monday to announce the show’s return.

However, that same day, Sinclair posted on X that it would be preempting the show while discussions with ABC continued.

Nexstar, for its part, said in a press release on Tuesday that it stood by its decision to pull the show, citing Kimmel’s “ill-timed and insensitive” comments.

Disney did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Gizmodo.

How to know if your local ABC station will air Jimmy Kimmy Live!

If your local ABC station is owned by Nexstar or Sinclair, you’ll miss out on Kimmel’s return.

Sinclair operates 38 ABC stations, including those in Washington, D.C., Seattle, and St. Louis. You can see Wikipedia’s full list here.

Nexstar runs 28 ABC stations, including in Salt Lake City and Nashville. The Wikipedia list of Nexstar stations is here.

A timeline of the Jimmy Kimmel Live! controversy

The controversy began after Kirk’s shooting on Wednesday, Sept. 10. In the days that followed, when little was known about the shooter, many conservative politicians and pundits suggested he was motivated by left-wing ideology.

On the night of Monday, Sept. 15, Kimmel pushed back on those claims.

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said.

Two days later, on Sept. 17, FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr told conservative commentator Benny Johnson: “We can do this the easy way or the hard way. These companies can find ways to change conduct and take action, frankly, on Kimmel, or there’s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.”

The FCC regulates broadcast television and has the power to suspend a station’s license.

Hours after Carr’s remarks, Nexstar—which is in the process of trying to acquire TEGNA, another owner of TV stations—and Sinclair announced they would preempt the show. ABC soon afterward took action and announced it was suspending the program.

At the time, Sinclair said the suspension was not enough and called for further action from both ABC and the FCC.

Arc Raiders is actually coming back for one last test before launch, and this time anyone can join

by admin September 23, 2025

April feels like a lifetime ago, but that’s when Arc Raiders, the extraction shooter from ex-DICE developers at Embark, was last available to play. The game’s second tech testbegan and ended in April, and remained invite-only throughout its runtime.

The test was immensely successful, and almost everyone who played it came away wanting more. Most assumed the developer would open the test up for one final weekend, or host some sort of open beta in the weeks to follow. None of that happened.

Instead, we got a lot of radio silence, that was briefly broken by the release date news. Then, Embark went dark yet again. Until now, when the developer actually announced that we’ll be able to get our hands on the game one last time ahead of its October 30 launch.

Arc Raiders is hosting a server slam, a limited-time event that runs October 17-19. It’s free for anyone to try across all platforms, and it falls on a weekend to maximise visibility. The game has also gone up for pre-orders on PC, PS5, and Xbox.

The focus of the server slam is to stress-test the game’s server capacity and netcode ahead of launch. In gameplay terms, we’ll be going to the Dam Battlegrounds, which is a map that was also part of the tech test.

Watch on YouTube

Embark said some progression elements will be available, alongside early crafting. You’ll also be able to take on quests, but don’t expect anything massive at this stage. It goes without saying that all progress made during this event will not carry over to the full game.

That said, you will get an exclusive backpack to prove you showed up for it (in the full game), assuming you do buy it.

Arc Raiders is PvPvE extraction shooter from the developers of The Finals. It’s priced $40 ($60 for Deluxe), and will be available on October 30 for PC (Steam/EGS), PS5, and Xbox Series X/S with cross-play.

GTA History Class Is Coming To This American College Ahead Of GTA 6’s Release

by admin September 22, 2025

Starting in January, students at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville can take an American history class focused on the Grand Theft Auto series. The course was reportedly planned to include GTA 6 before it was delayed to May 26, 2026.

IGN spoke with history professor Tore Olsson about the class that’s officially called Grand Theft America: US History Since 1980 through the GTA Video Games. The teacher discussed how popular video games can mold our real-world views, like Ghost of Tsushima with feudal Japan. With that in mind, “the class is much more about American history than the games themselves, but GTA provides the framework that structures our exploration of the past,” Olsson said. “My hope is that after the class, students will never look at these games, or modern America, the same again.”

Now Playing: GTA 6 (Grand Theft Auto VI) – Official Release Date Reveal | Trailer 2

Olsson is “perhaps most excited to use San Andreas” as a teaching tool from the GTA series, as it’s set in a fictional Los Angeles. “It’s probably obvious to many that this drama is an allusion to the LA Riots of April and May 1992, one of the most significant turning points in contemporary U.S. history, but also one that is widely misunderstood,” the professor said. “Explaining the origins and meaning of this violent convulsion is a key goal of my class.”

All of that said, actually playing the GTA games isn’t required for the history course. Olsson doesn’t want to put that financial burden on students and instead will showcase gameplay during classtime. The professor also believes this college course is the first of its kind, with only Wilfred Laurier University in Canada offering a GTA-related class before (though not history-focused).

This isn’t Olsson’s first time utilizing a popular game franchise for a history class. In fact, the professor used the Red Dead Redemption series to tackle US history between 1899-1911 previously.

Looking ahead, Rockstar believes GTA 6 will have the “largest game launch in history,” which isn’t far-fetched. In fact, last year, Circana analyst Mat Piscatella noted GTA 6 could be the most important release ever for the game industry overall. For more, check out everything we know about GTA 6.

An AI Stan Lee Hologram Is Coming to LA Comic Con (Really)

by admin September 21, 2025

Los Angeles Comic Con is next week, and one of its big guests is, apparently, an AI hologram of Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee.

Per the Hollywood Reporter, the hologram will be part of the Stan Lee Experience at LACC. Along with the standard $15-20 experience fee to join the booth, fans can spend money to take selfies with the hologram or have one-on-one conversations with it for three minutes. It was created by Proto Hologram—the company that made an interactive mirror for malls to promote The Conjuring: Last Rites—and virtual production company HyperReal.

Stan Lee Legacy Programs head Bob Sabouni assured the trade that the hologram wouldn’t say anything that isn’t “in line with things [Lee] spoke about in his lifetime, [letting us] build a voice that stays true, not always word for word, but always faithful in spirit, context, and intent.”

Even so, that doesn’t take away from the fact that Stan Lee died in late 2018 months after reports circulated of people in his social circle trying to capitalize on his decades-long success for their own ends in very weird ways. (One source at the time described the whole ordeal as “a fucking mess,” which just says it all.) This can’t help but fall into that territory, compounded by the fact that he can’t say no or even be duped into consenting as he could’ve toward the end of his life—and that’s not getting into the recent controversies and concerns surrounding AI and its relationship to the dead.

In a statement to io9, Chris DeMoulin, CEO of LACC parent company Kamikaze Entertainment, said he previously worked with Lee in the 2010s when LACC had a license deal with Lee’s POW! company, and observed “how much Stan loved interacting with fans, being on panels, telling the Marvel story, and engaging future generations of fans. I met with Bob and pitched him the idea of working to create a hologram representation of Stan, which could faithfully represent how Stan used to interact with fans at cons, including [ours].” The hologram has been in development for “several months,” added DeMoulin, and has been “coming along great” in recent weeks.

“This is all about helping to extend Stran’s legacy — something he himself talked to many of us about when he was alive. […] We know that this hologram isn’t Stan, and can never be perfect.  But we think it is fun, authentic, very accurate in terms of how it responds to questions, and gives the fans a look into who Stan was, kind of [like]  an IRL documentary. And in that regard, it serves the mission of the Stan Lee Universe team to preserve and extend Stan’s legacy into the future. We invite everyone to come see it for themselves, and after you’ve actually experienced it, we’d love to get your feedback.”

io9 has reached out to LA Comic Con organizers for any additional comments or clarity on the Stan Lee hologram and will update if a response is given. Los Angeles Comic Con runs September 26 to 28.

Update (9/20/2025 @ 2:30 PM ET): This story has been updated with quotes from Kamikaze Entertainment CEO Chris DeMoulin.

Stellar Blade teases something is coming “in one week” and it looks like a horror-themed DLC or crossover event

by admin September 20, 2025

Stellar Blade developer Shift Up has dropped a mysterious image onto social media, leading some fans to speculate it could be teasing a horror event or even crossover promotion with the upcoming release of Konami’s horror, Silent Hill f.

While there’s no cheeky copyright notices or any obvious indication that Stellar Blade is taking us to Silent Hill, Shift Up did share an image of a very Silent Hill Otherworld-esque world onto Stellar Blade’s X/Twitter page, complete with crumbling walls, a dilapidated ceiling, and a very familiar rust-red hue. Hmm.

Here’s the launch trailer for Stellar Blade.Watch on YouTube

The text – which reads “in one week…” alongside a stars emoji and the hashtag Stellar Blade – similarly doesn’t give much away, but coincidentally enough, Silent Hill f – the first mainline Silent Hill game since 2012 – is due to launch next week on 25th September.

Image credit: Shift Up / X

As both franchises have partnered with other games for promotional purposes, it’s certainly possible, but it could, of course, just be a spooky-themed time-limited event or another horror game or movie with Halloween just a few short weeks away. Whatever it is, hopefully we’ll find out soon.

Earlier this month, Shift Up announced it intends to expand the Stellar Blade franchise with “various derivative works”. A new financial report explored the success of its different products, including Stellar Blade, highlighting the game’s impressive performance both at launch and with its port to PC.

The report added (via machine translation): “Through this, [Stellar Blade] was able to effectively secure a new user base and further strengthen its position as a global AAA franchise IP. We plan to develop various derivative works to expand the [Stellar Blade] IP so that [Stellar Blade] can establish itself as a well-made IP.”

This Creepy Slasher Movie Inspired By An Iconic Disney Character Is Coming To 4K Blu-Ray

by admin September 19, 2025

There are immutable truths about our world: rain falls, wind blows, and the second a beloved IP enters the public domain territory, you can bet that a slasher movie based on it will hit theaters in record time. We’ve seen it happen to Winnie the Pooh, and last year it happened to Steamboat Willie, the 1928 Disney character who served as the prototype for what would eventually become Mickey Mouse. Steamoat Willie entered the public domain on January 1, 2024, and then earlier this year was reimagined as a horror movie villain with the animated horror-comedy short, Screamboat, created by . The movie is getting a Blu-ray release on December 9, including a fancy steelbook edition 4K Blu-ray that’s availabe to preorder for $43 at Amazon.

$43 | Releases December 9

This two-disc set includes both 4K and standard Blu-ray copies of the movie. The UHD version is in native 4K with HDR10 and Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. The cover is deceptively cute, as it features Steamboat Willie waving to the audience, but when you look closer, you’ll see that he’s surrounded by carnage. The back cover sports a CG-render of Willie overlooking the New York City skyline.

Screamboat Bonus Material

The Blu-ray doesn’t come with much in the way of extras, but you’ll at least get a few deleted scenes, a short behind-the-scenes documentary, and audio commentary with Willie’s actor, David Howard Thornton.

  • Audio commentary track with actor David Howard Thornton
  • Documentary: The Making of Screamboat
  • Deleted scenes

Screamboat was announced a mere day after Steamboat Willie entered the public domain. It tells the story of a late-night ferry ride in New York piloted by a murderous version of the formerly kind-hearted mouse, who has become warped and twisted after years of neglect. Passengers who use the ferry fall victim to Willie’s rampage. While the movie is admittedly forgettable and a cash grab at best, it is notable for its connections to a larger horror movie franchise, Terrifier. The producers of Terrifier 2 and 3 are responsible for this movie, and David Howard Thornton–who plays Art the Clown in the Terrifier movies–steps into the furry costume of Willie for this movie.

The movie has had a mixed reception since it was first released in cinemas in April, but if you want to see a tiny mouse horribly murder people and you’re a fan of practical effects, then Screamboat might be worth picking up. It’s impressively ultraviolent, and it’s the kind of movie you can enjoy without needing to overthink things.

$19

This isn’t the only beloved IP that has been turned into a slasher movie–nor will it be the last, we imagine–as, believe it or not, there are two movies that transform Winnie the Pooh and his friends into homicidal monsters. Billed as the first instalment in the Twisted Childhood Universe, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey was released in 2023, and it’s a horror-parody of A. A. Milne and E. H. Shepard’s classic Winnie-the-Pooh books.

This time, Pooh finds blood to be sweeter than honey as he goes on a killing spree alongside his best friend Piglet. The movie hasn’t received a 4K release yet, but you can pick up a standard Blu-ray release of it. For special features, all it includes is the original theatrical trailer and a short documentary detailing its production. The film was made on a tight budget of around $100,000, but it grossed $7.7 million at the global box office.

$25

Naturally, a sequel wasn’t far behind, as Pooh returned alongside Piglet, Tigger, and Owl to take revenge on Christopher Robin for revealing his existence to the world. Again, don’t expect much in the way of special features, as all you’re getting with this Blu-ray is a theatrical trailer and an image gallery that collects various film stills. Walmart does offer an exclusive steelbook case version of the movie, and you can pick up both of them in an affordable two-pack on Blu-ray as well.

TKTKT

Watch the entire film series, if you dare

While slasher films aren’t nearly as popular in the 2020s as they were in the 1980s and 1990s, the exception to that rule is The Terrifier franchise. The series of movies starring Art the Clown is not for the faint of heart, as each movie ups the gore to a stomach-churning level. The character has become a modern-day horror movie icon since he first debuted, and there are several editions of the Terrifier trilogy to pick up. Fans looking to watch the first movie and the prequel anthology movie All Hallow’s Eve can grab a two-pack Blu-ray for just $27, and you can get both Terrifier 2 and Terrifier 3 in 4K Blu-ray formats.

There’s even a Terrifier 3 Amazon-exclusive Limited Edition Collector’s Box Set that comes with several extras, including a themed “box of soap” and barf bag. Trust us, if you’re watching the threequel for the first time, you’re going to need these items.

ETH News: Fusaka Coming in December

by admin September 19, 2025

Ethereum core developers have confirmed a tentative roadmap for the network’s next major upgrade, Fusaka, during Thursday’s All Core Developers Consensus (ACDC) call.

The upgrade, designed to further scale the blockchain, is now scheduled for early December, with follow-up changes aimed at more than doubling blob capacity in the weeks after.

Before the Fusaka upgrade reaches Ethereum’s mainnet, developers will push the code through three public test networks in October.

If those tests proceed smoothly, the mainnet activation is targeted for Dec. 3. Developers noted that exact epoch numbers and timing will be confirmed in the coming days.

Blob Capacity Expansion via BPO Forks

While Fusaka itself won’t immediately change blob parameters, the call outlined a phased approach to scaling blob availability through so-called Blob Parameter Only (BPO) forks.

One week after Fusaka BPO-1 will raise the blog target/max from 6/9 to 10/15, then one week later BPO-2 will push the limit to 14/21.

These incremental changes are based on performance observed on the Fusaka Devnet-5 and are intended to safely expand capacity without requiring client-side software updates.

Blobs, introduced in March’s Dencun upgrade, allow Ethereum to store large amounts of rollup transaction data more efficiently, reducing costs for users of layer-2 scaling networks.

Looking Ahead

Ethereum researcher Christine Kim, who reported the call highlights on X, noted that additional BPOs remain on the roadmap for Fusaka, although only the first two were scheduled in this week’s call.

A detailed timeline of the Fusaka and BPO activations is available via Ethereum’s public notes.

The Fusaka rollout follows May’s Pectra upgrade, which introduced validator staking changes and new account abstraction features, underscoring Ethereum’s ongoing push to optimize scalability and network efficiency.
