Silent Hill 2 remake reportedly coming to PS Plus later this month

by admin October 7, 2025

The remake of Silent Hill 2 is reportedly heading to the PS Plus catalogue later this month, available for Extra and Premium subscribers.

That’s according to reliable insider billbil_kun of Dealabs, who reported Konami and Bloober Team’s remake will be added on 21st October.

Silent Hill 2 was released last October as a PS5 console exclusive, also available on PC. A trailer from last year added it would be available on “other formats” from 8th October 2025, exactly a year later.

Silent Hill 2 ReviewWatch on YouTube

As such, the game’s reported inclusion on PS Plus would give PlayStation a boost should those other formats be announced imminently.

It also continues momentum for the series, following the release last month of Silent Hill f developed by NeoBards Entertainment and published by Konami.

“Silent Hill f’s frustrating first-half is outweighed by a brilliant, delirious second that’s well worth the initial slog,” reads our Silent Hill f review.

Bloober, meanwhile, released Cronos: The New Dawn last month, its original sci-fi survival horror set in 1980’s Poland that’s also been well-received.

Last week, Bloober confirmed a remake of Silent Hill 1 is now in full production, and hasn’t ruled out a sequel to Cronos.

Sony already revealed the PS Plus games for October at its State of Play stream, which includes Alan Wake 2, Cocoon, and Goat Simulator 3. Silent Hill 2 would seemingly be a welcome surprise extra.

Kids From The 2000s Rejoice, Icy Tower Is Coming Back

by admin October 3, 2025

Icy Tower, the classic freeware platformer from the early 2000s that was a viral sensation back in the day, is returning via a new Steam release next year from the original creators. I’m so happy about that it makes me want to yell “Sweeeeet!” while cartwheeling wildly through the air.

On October 1, Icy Tower creators Johan Peitz and Anders “Neo” Svensson announced that the duo’s popular 2001 game Icy Tower is getting a remake. The plan is for this new version, which looks extremely faithful to the original game, to launch on Steam sometime in 2026. Here’s the trailer, which might activate some dormant part of your brain that contains all the memories you have of playing the original Icy Tower in a computer lab in middle school.

Here’s how the original creators describe this new, upcoming version of the classic platformer:

Icy Tower is the definitive arcade jumping game. Join Harold the Homeboy and his friends as they try to climb as high up as they possibly can in a mysterious tower. But one mistake and it is back to the beginning! With its simple pick-up-and-play appeal Icy Tower delivers a pure, compelling arcade fun. As the difficulty ramps up, the game will put your timing, precision, and nerves to the true test.

If you were under the age of 17 or so in the early 2000s and spent time online, there is a very good chance that you downloaded Icy Tower from Free Lunch Design and played it for many, many hours. The game’s simple controls, bouncy physics, and endless nature made it hard to put down. It also ran on even the crappiest computers, making it easy for anyone to play.

Icy Tower was completely free, too, and its file size was so small that people shared it from computer to computer. I’m not even sure how I stumbled upon it back in the early 2000s, but once I found it, my brother and I played way, way, way too much Icy Tower while dreaming of what was at the top of the tower. (It didn’t have an end you could reach, but we didn’t know that.) And sure, there were some ports and mobile spin-offs released over the years, but this looks to be the first real follow-up from the OG creators that perfectly captures the vibes of that first game.

And now, 25 years later (which makes me feel extremely old to write), Icy Tower is coming back and it looks great. I can’t wait to flip about for hours and hours when it launches in 2026. You can wishlist it now on Steam.

FIFA lives on in a mascot-focused five-a-side football game, coming next year

by admin October 2, 2025

If you’ve been wondering what happened to the FIFA licence after its departure from EA, you now have the answer. FIFA Heroes has just been announced today, a 5-a-side football game starring several official FIFA mascots.

These mascots, presented in the announce trailer absent from gameplay footage, are cartoony representatives from three major countries. These include Clutch the eagle from the USA, Zayu the jaguar from Mexico, and of course Maple the moose from Canada.

These mascots will, according to the official press release coinciding with the announcement trailer, have their own “super abilities and special moves” in FIFA Heroes. Players will be able to play in PvE matches as well as online PvP, of course.

You can watch the FIFA Heroes trailer yourself here.Watch on YouTube

Christian Volk, Director of Gaming and eSports at FIFA, wrote in the FIFA Heroes press release: “At FIFA, uniting people through the love of football has always been our priority. With FIFA Heroes, fans can create a multiverse team: mixing their treasured fictional heroes, favourite players, and our own mascots. We’re offering the love of football to a new generation, while rekindling the nostalgia and fun for families and older players who’ve grown up with FIFA. FIFA Heroes fits seamlessly into our digital football portfolio under the FIFAe umbrella, adding another strong pillar to our fast-growing gaming ecosystem.”

Maybe it’ll be good, but it’s a significant departure from FIFA’s previous incarnation within the video game industry. The old FIFA series, now EAFC, had built itself a sizable market share of the sports genre with its realistic depiction of football and its many professional players. FIFA Heroes, on the other hand, is taking the polar opposite approach.

FIFA Heroes will be available in 2026, though the specific date remains unknown. It’ll be available on mobile, Xbox, PlayStation, and the Nintendo Switch.

The news comes this week as EA releases its latest EA FC game, EAFC26. The game appears to be going down well among its fan-base, retaining much of the merits of the series’ prior EAFC titles as well as the FIFA series. EA parted with the FIFA brand back in 2022, but has remained the most popular football series despite the brand shift..

Avalanche Treasury Co. Coming With Foundation Support via $675 Million SPAC Deal

by admin October 2, 2025

In brief

  • Avalanche Treasury Co. is merging with Mountain Lake Acquisition Corp. in a $675 million deal, targeting a Nasdaq listing in Q1 2026 with $460 million in treasury assets.
  • An exclusive Avalanche Foundation partnership includes a $200 million initial AVAX purchase at a discount, offering investors 23% savings versus direct purchases.
  • The firm’s goal is to amass $1 billion in AVAX and actively drive ecosystem growth through protocol investments and enterprise partnerships.

A new treasury company is spinning up with the goal of amassing a significant amount of Avalanche cryptocurrency, with support from the Avalanche Foundation.

Avalanche Treasury Co. has announced a definitive business combination agreement with Mountain Lake Acquisition Corp. (Nasdaq: MLAC), creating a publicly traded company focused on institutional AVAX exposure.

The transaction is valued at over $675 million and includes approximately $460 million in treasury assets, the companies said, with an expected Nasdaq listing for the combined company in Q1 2026.

Boasting an “exclusive relationship” with the Avalanche Foundation—the entity that supports development and adoption of the layer-1 Avalanche blockchain network—the treasury will debut with an initial $200 million AVAX token purchase at a discounted price, plus an 18-month priority on Avalanche Foundation token sales to U.S. treasury firms.

According to the firm, it will offer investors entry at 0.77x net asset value—a 23% discount compared to direct AVAX purchases or passive ETF alternatives.

The company’s strategy centers on three pillars: targeted protocol investments to drive adoption, partnership activation with enterprises building blockchain infrastructure for real-world assets and payments, and direct support for institutional Avalanche L1 network launches.

Avalanche Treasury Co. aims to accumulate over $1 billion worth of AVAX following its IPO. AVAT frames its mission as serving as a “growth engine” for the Avalanche ecosystem, actively deploying capital to accelerate network development rather than simply holding tokens passively.

The firm’s leadership includes CEO Bart Smith, a Wall Street veteran from Susquehanna International Group and AllianceBernstein, alongside COO Laine Litman and Chief Strategy Officer Budd White. Ava Labs founder Emin Gün Sirer will serve as strategic advisor, while Chief Business Officer John Nahas is joining the board.

Avalanche Treasury’s advisory board features prominent crypto figures including Haseeb Qureshi (Dragonfly Capital), Jason Yanowitz (Blockworks), and Stani Kulechov (Aave). The transaction has attracted investors including Dragonfly, ParaFi Capital, VanEck, Galaxy Digital, Pantera Capital, and Kraken, among others.

In September, Bitcoin miner AgriFORCE announced a pivot towards Avalanche with plans to raise approximately $550 million to start stockpiling AVAX. The firm’s stock spiked 200% soon after the announcement but has since shed much of those gains, with the stock showing a 48% gain over the past month.

AVAX is down about 1% on the day to $30.23 and trading roughly flat on the week, even as assets like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana post substantial gains.

The Whole Bloody Affair’ Is Coming to Theaters Everywhere This Year

by admin October 2, 2025

For the past decade, the only place to see Quentin Tarantino‘s ultimate version of Kill Bill was in one of Tarantino’s own movie theaters. That is now changing. In huge, surprising news for film nerds everywhere, Lionsgate just announced it will release Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair in theaters nationwide on December 5.

“I wrote and directed it as one movie—and I’m so glad to give the fans the chance to see it as one movie,” Tarantino said in a press release. “The best way to see Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is at a movie theater in glorious 70mm or 35mm. Blood and guts on a big screen in all its glory!”

This version of the film will be different from the one that recently played at the Vista Theater in Los Angeles, CA, too. It will include “a never-before-seen, 7.5-minute animated sequence,” which we assume is in addition to the one already in the film focusing on O-Ren Ishii, played by Lucy Liu.

Originally released as two films, Kill Bill: Volume 1 and Kill Bill: Volume 2, The Whole Bloody Affair combines all of that with a few nips and tucks to make it more cohesive. It runs over 250 minutes with an intermission and is a stunning work of cinema. In our mind, it’s Tarantino’s best film.

That it’s getting this wide release is something of a shock, though. In a recent interview, Tarantino spoke about why he was leaning towards only playing the film at his own movie theaters and never releasing it on Blu-ray. But, it seems, this is a compromise that allows people to see it in the best way imaginable but then also doesn’t force him to release it on physical media. You still have to see it in a theater.

There’s no word on when fans might be able to buy tickets or just how wide this release will be. All the press release says is that “select presentations of the release will be in 70mm and 35mm, and it is anticipated that the film will play in all major markets.” So keep an eye on your local theaters for this, potentially, once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Tokenization Coming for Animoca Brands Equity

by admin October 1, 2025

Investment platform Republic revealed plans on Tuesday to tokenize shares of crypto venture firm Animoca Brands on the Solana SOL$209.32 blockchain, a move aimed at opening investor access through blockchain rails.

Animoca Brands, known for backing over 600 blockchain startups and projects, remains privately held with shares only traded in limited over-the-counter deals. Republic said its plan will create digital tokens that represent ownership in the company, which can be held in crypto wallets and traded on Republic’s own marketplace.

“This tokenization aligns strongly with Animoca Brands’ position as a Web3 leader, providing novel options for investors to tokenize and trade their holdings as well as broaden investment accessibility for a wider market,” said Yat Siu, executive chairman and co-founder of Animoca Brands.

The move could allow a wider, global set of investors to gain exposure to a private tech company without waiting for a traditional public listing. Tokenization, a red-hot trend to create blockchain-based tokens of traditional financial assets such as equity, is often touted as a tool for broadening investor access to assets previously limited to only a select few, proponents say. However, some private equity token offerings such as Robinhood’s drew concerns such as limited shareholder rights and fragmented regulations.

Republic said Animoca’s equity token will comply with existing regulatory requirements. Details on token pricing and launch timelines are expected later, the blog post said.

“This is a glimpse of the future, where retail investors worldwide can participate in opportunities once reserved for a few, and companies can tap into liquidity and distribution on a global scale,” Solana Foundation president Lily Liu said in a statement.

Even More Gorgeous Final Fantasy MTG Cards Are Coming And They’re Already Selling Out Again

by admin October 1, 2025

Wizards of the Coast is going to turn as much paper into gold as it can with Magic: The Gathering, and leading the way is its best-selling Final Fantasy Universes Beyond set. The company recently announced at MagicCon Atlanta 2025 that it will be releasing additional Final Fantasy box sets with new cards featuring more beautiful art spanning the Square Enix RPG franchise’s history. If you’re worried about your wallet, relax! The initial wave of pre-orders sold out instantly.

This mini-expansion includes a new Chocobo Bundle, a new Commander Deck, and four new Scene Boxes. They all arrive on December 5 and all of them are basically impossible to find online right now. Hopefully, fans have better luck with the inventory that comes directly to their local hobby shops. The Chocobo Bundle is $110 and comes with a bunch of booster packs, Chocobo-themed lands, alt-art reprints, a new promo card, and an incredibly neat life total click-wheel:

Then there’s the new $100 FFVII Limit Break Commander Deck that comes with a PC download code for the HD remaster of the original game and an exclusive Traditional Foil promo card that shows Cloud looking up at Shinra HQ. It seems way over-priced but is also completely sold out right now on Amazon.

The new Scene Boxes are what really have my attention. There’s one for Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy IX, and Final Fantasy XV. Each comes with six Foil Borderless Scene Cards, six Art Cards, three Play Boosters, and one Display Easel for $42. The six cards go together to recreate scenes from each game. These new cards aren’t legal in standard play but look cool as heck. The art on the boxes alone makes me want one.

There was no shortage of Lord of the Rings Scene Boxes when they arrived in 2023, offering hope that after the initial frenzy subsides, fans will be able to get access to the new Final Fantasy ones without too much trouble or paying over MSRP for them. Are the boxes worth even that? In the grand scheme of things, probably not. But that’s the whole point of Universes Beyond: subverting logic with passion.

The result has been very lucrative for Wizards but a pain for many fans. “This whole collab has been so confusing,” wrote one after the latest Final Fantasy products were announced. “Every attempt I’ve made at actually purchasing cards has shown that the set is sold out everywhere, and they don’t seem to be printing any new ones. But there’s new cards still coming out too?” Yes. And I suspect these won’t be the last ones either.

Anker drops a 14-in-1 docking station with a knob and digital screen, which no one really saw coming.

by admin September 30, 2025

  • Anker Prime Docking Station includes HDMI and DisplayPort support for triple external monitors
  • Brings 140W upstream USB-C for device-to-host connections
  • Delivers three 100W USB-C ports with varied transfer speeds

Anker has introduced the Prime Docking Station, a desktop accessory built to connect multiple devices and displays.

This device features a broad range of ports with a digital screen and control knob, elements not commonly found in docking stations.

The docking station is marketed as a “14-in-1” device, offering front-facing TF and SD card slots alongside a 3.5 mm audio jack.

Also on the front, there are three USB-C ports rated at 100W that provide fast charging and data transfer, with two running at 10Gbps and one at 5Gbps.

Above these sits a compact 2.1 by 0.9-inch digital screen that can show charging information or serve as a clock.

A side-mounted knob allows users to cycle between the different display modes, making this feature more interactive than the average dock.

At the rear, the docking station connects to the host device through a 140W upstream USB-C port supporting 10Gbps.

Other inputs include a 2.5Gbps Ethernet port and several USB-A ports with speeds of either 480Mbps or 5Gbps.

For external displays, one DisplayPort allows output at 8K and 60Hz, while two HDMI ports provide 8K at 30Hz.

These connections are supported through DisplayLink, which may help expand compatibility but could also affect performance in some cases.

This device comes with a dark grey metallic finish that aims to balance professional aesthetics with durability.

It measures 7.7 inches long, 3.6 inches wide, and 1.9 inches tall, roughly translating to 195 x 92 x 48 millimeters.

While compact compared to some workstation hubs, it is still larger than most travel-friendly options.

The inclusion of a small display and a physical knob set it apart visually, although it remains to be seen whether these elements provide real-world value beyond novelty appeal.

This device appeared at IFA 2025 and has been released in the U.S., China, and now Europe.

In Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands, the accessory is available through Amazon at €349.99, but in the U.K., it is sold on Anker’s website for £299.99.

It looks like an M5 iPad Pro is coming very soon

by admin September 30, 2025

Apple may be releasing a new iPad Pro with an M5 chip in the very near future, according to an unboxing video made by a Russian YouTuber. This is the same creator that leaked the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 chip last year, so the information in the video is likely credible.

To that end, the creator unboxes what appears to be a new 13-inch iPad Pro with an M5 chip and 256GB of storage in a Space Black finish. The exterior design doesn’t look noticeably different from current models, as the tablet still has a single rear camera, four speakers and a Smart Connector.

Previous leaks had indicated that the next iPad Pro would feature a second front camera, but this video doesn’t confirm that. It also looks like this new model is still plenty thin.

The video even puts the tablet through some testing. A Geekbench 6 benchmark shows a 12 percent increase in multi-core CPU performance when compared to the previous generation. This benchmark result suggests a 36 percent faster GPU. It also indicated that the 256GB model of this tablet will include 12GB of RAM. Current models with 256GB of storage ship with just 8GB of RAM.

The footage shows that this tablet is running iPadOS 26, which makes sense, and that the battery was manufactured in August of this year. This could all be a ruse but, again, the leaker has been proven correct in the past. It’s likely that Apple will announce the refreshed iPad Pro with the M5 chip sometime in October, which tracks with previous reporting.

It was also recently reported that the company is working on a refresh of the MacBook Pro laptop with the M5 chip. These computers could be available later this year.

Black Ops 7 devs unveil “stronger” anti-cheat with aimbot clampdown coming

by admin September 30, 2025

Treyarch have revealed upgrades to their RICOCHET Anti-Cheat system ahead of Black Ops 7, including a crackdown on aimbots and wall hacks.

Cheating is a constant issue in any online shooter, and Call of Duty is no different. In the past, games like Warzone have been plagued by hackers on PC, who often ruin lobbies by using software to see through walls or make themselves impossible to kill.

Measures have been put in place over the years, and Black Ops 7 is cranking them up a notch by forcing PC players to enable TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot before playing. Now, they’ve revealed even more upgrades to make this year’s CoD as smooth as possible.

BO7 anti-cheat gets major upgrades ahead of launch

In a new blog post, Treyarch explained that a “new generation of machine learning systems and detection tools” is coming to Black Ops 7 at launch. These are powered by millions of hours of gameplay from BO6, which helps it identify cheaters.

Article continues after ad

This brings three major upgrades to the anti-cheat system, the first of which is smarter aimbot detection. The devs described it as the “strongest” they’ve ever built, as it should distinguish between natural and artificial aim more consistently.

Activision

It’s also set to clamp down on wall hacks with more accurate detection, making it more difficult for those who can see enemies through surfaces to hide it.

The final improvement is what the blog calls a “layered defense,” where multiple different features work together at once. This “makes it harder for cheaters to adapt and easier for us to stay ahead,” and will receive constant updates.

All of these upgrades will go live officially when Black Ops 7 launches on November 14, as well as Warzone.

Meanwhile, the beta that gets underway on October 2 will use the older system, but all of the new improvements will be tested in the background so they’re ready to go on day one.
