Overwatch 2’s next big collab is GI Joe vs. Cobra

by admin June 26, 2025

The real American heroes of G.I. Joe — and the evil terrorist organization Cobra — are coming to Overwatch 2 next month in Blizzard’s latest collaboration with toymaker Hasbro. And this time, the picks are pretty much flawless, with Reaper cosplaying (and accurately whining) as Cobra Commander and Genji dressed up as Snake Eyes.

Joining Cobra Commander and Snake Eyes in the Overwatch 2 x G.I. Joe crossover are Freja as Scarlett, Widowmaker as Baroness, and Doomfist as Destro. Yes, I agree, it’s a little strange there’s no Duke skin for Soldier: 76, but maybe that’s being saved for another time.

Like past Overwatch 2 collabs with Transformers, Street Fighter, and Gundam Wing, expect the G.I. Joe skins to cost a pretty penny. But there will also be some free stuff, like voice lines, sprays, and other cosmetics that can be earned through in-game challenges.

Overwatch 2 x G.I. Joe launches on July 1. The game is free to play on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. The game’s 17th season launched earlier this week, adding new Flashpoint map Aatlis; two new Stadium maps; and three new heroes playable in Stadium: Junkrat, Sigma, and Zenyatta.

Assassin's Creed Shadows' latest update brings in a nightmare difficulty mode and another weird collab

Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ latest update brings in a nightmare difficulty mode and another weird collab

by admin June 25, 2025

Another month, another Assassin’s Creed Shadows update, again one that comes with a list of quality of life changes, but also one that comes with another surprising collaboration. Let’s start with that one, which is, weirdly, a new story pack made in collaboration with Critical Role, the wildly popular actual play series. For some context, Critical Role did an official Assassin’s Creed themed oneshot a little while back. In said oneshot, Hi-Fi Rush’s Robbie Daymond played a character called Rufino, who’s being added into the game through this new mission in update 1.0.6.

“Rufino, an old friend of Tomiko and Heiji, calls in a life debt after uncovering a deadly conspiracy,” Ubisoft explains. “While working as a translator, he discovered evidence that a secretive organization has been hiring assassins to eliminate influential commoners. Now, he turns to Naoe and Yasuke for help in stopping these killers.” Completing this quest nets you Rufino as a new ally, and you’ll get the Critical Role logo as a banner.

Right, now the regular update stuff. A new nightmare difficult setting is now available with this update, which does a few different things. Defensive options are less effective in this mode, and you need to pull off perfect parries for them to deflect the hit fully. Enemy AI is “smarter, faster, and more aggressive in a variety of circumstances, including detection.” And combat resources are harder to find too.

For those of you oddly desperate to wear your headgear during cutscenes, that’ll be an option now too, and there’s toggles for specific types of VFX that you can turn off and on as well. The regional alert system available in castles has been expanded to the whole province on top of that, meaning that when you repeatedly attack “Civilians or Military units outside Castles, the alarm can be triggered, and a group of Guardians will hunt you in the world.” There’s also three different camera presets when on a horse, for your riding pleasure.

Lastly, for us here in PC land, there’s an Ultra Low visual quality level – you can read about the exact specs that’s catered to over on the post about the update, alongside the list of fixes and tweaks that you mostly don’t need to worry about.

Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.4 will finally introduce those Fate/stay night collab characters you've been hearing about

Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.4 will finally introduce those Fate/stay night collab characters you’ve been hearing about

by admin June 20, 2025

The big Honkai: Star Rail version 3.4 livestream took place earlier today, right on schedule. As with every major new iteration of the incredibly popular HoYoverse game, the main thing people have been looking forward to has been, of course, the new characters. The livestream did, indeed, show off the new characters that will be arriving in the free-to-play RPG soon.

The big news from the program is, of course, the imminent arrival of the Fate/stay night collab event. A collaboration between Honkai: Star Rail and genre-defining fantasy visual novel Fate/stay night was first announced in August of last year, at the same time as the latter received its long-overdue official English localisation and modern remaster. It was apparent at the time that the Star Rail crossover was going to be in the oven for a while longer; and indeed, 10 months down the line, the wait is almost over.

New characters introduced in Version 3.4 will include Fate series favourites Saber (as a 5-Star Wind/Destruction character who’ll be receiving her own banner in the gacha) and Archer (a 5-Star Quantum/Hunt character who will be claimable for free by everyone who logs into HSR during the collaboration). Both are expected to be available for longer than is usual in HSR, with the collab confirmed as lasting from Version 3.4 right through to the end of Version 3.6 (expected circa November of this year).

Additionally, Phainon — who’s been a major NPC since Version 3.0 launched early this year and was the first new character you met on Amphoreus — will finally be added as a playable unit, an honour already granted to several of his fellow Chrysos Heirs over the past few months. He’ll also be a 5-Star character, armed with a Physical/Destruction kit. Since the Fate collab characters exist outside of the usual banner cycle, all three new characters will be releasing in Phase 1.

Not only that, but the version will feature a grand total of six rerun banners, with Tribbie, Sunday, and Sparkle making a limited-time return to the gacha in Phase 1, while Firefly, Jingliu, and Blade all return during Phase 2. That means the latter half of this update will be a rare occasion when HSR receives no new characters, but considering how packed that line-up already is, I don’t think it’s exactly fair to complain.

And last but not least, everyone’s favourite Stellaron Hunters are getting some love in V3.4, with enhancements coming to the battle mechanics and Eidolon effects for Kafka, Silver Wolf, and Blade, as well as a new alternative outfit for Firefly. Jingliu will also be getting a kit enhancement of her own, which hopefully doesn’t mean this troubled Luofu loyalist is joining Elio’s morally-gray team of mercenaries now… although actually that could be rather cool.

Honkai: Star Rail 3.4 is scheduled to go live on July 2nd, with its changeover to the second banner phase expected on July 23rd. You can watch the whole special program livestream on the VOD below:

Back in May, Honkai: Star Rail’s version 3.3 update introduced Hyacine to the game, and brought back The Herta for the first time as part of its first phase. The banner’s second phase, on the other hand, kicked off just last week and brought new character – Cipher – to the game, alongside a few returning favourites.

It also featured the controversial recasting of the English-language voice actors for the playable protagonists, the female and male Trailblazers (canonically named Stelle and Caelus). This followed the actors’ participation in solidarity action with SAG-AFTRA, who recently suspended their long-running video game voice actor strike after the arrangement of a tentative agreement with several major studios. The status of several other characters whose actors have been participating in the action — which includes two other main characters, Dan Heng and Himeko — remain unclear.

Kirby gets limited-time ketchup sauce collab with Heinz

by admin June 10, 2025

Kirby is set to be featured on “upside down” ketchup bottles as part of a collaboration with food company Heinz.

Amid the Nintendo Switch 2 hype, food processing company Heinz has just announced that it will be collaborating with HAL Laboratory to release special Kirby tomato ketchup bottles. Though, this isn’t the first time Kirby has been featured in a Ketchup bottle thanks to a collab with Heinz.

Back in November 2024, Heinz’s partnered up with Kirby and launched a pouch-like design for the ketchup, with the company mentioning that Maxim Tomatoes, an item that can fully restore health in the game’s franchise, was the inspiration behind it.

Fast-forward to June 2025. Now, they’re back with another rerun but with a twist. This time around, the new promotion features the adorable pink mascot on “upside-down” bottles.

Heinz to launch upside-down Kirby tomato ketchup bottles in Japan

The new tomato ketchup bottles will hit the shelves in Japan sometime in June 2025, and they’ll only be available in limited quantities. Compared to the first run, this new collab has three designs displayed on the bottles, including one additional character.

There’s one design where Kirby sits happily while holding a burger, and another one where he’s surrounded by tomatoes, fitting to the product.

Another one even includes Waddle-Dee in the illustration, showing the red-orange creature holding a tomato beside Kirby.

Heinz’s official Twitter account will also be giving away 1,000 of these keychains! Like the last Kirby giveaway item they had, the keychain will be available to only residents of Japan. pic.twitter.com/bYnhO5EW8A

Aside from these bottles, the company has also revealed that there’s one additional item that fans can get their hands on: an embroidered keystone-shaped Kirby keychain with a Heinz logo.

However, the only way to get this is to take part in a special quiz, and only if you are lucky, as only 1,000 winners will be chosen at the end. The quiz itself will be held on social media, so fans will just have to keep an eye out if they’d like to join and try their luck.

Monster Hunter Wilds nabs Street Fighter 6’s Akuma, Chun-Li and more for a Capcom centric collab

by admin May 22, 2025

The unthinkable has happened, folks: Monster Hunter Wilds, from the one and only Capcom, is collaborating with Street Fighter 6, also from the one and only Capcom. This won’t be much of a surprise for many of you given that 1. Capcom own both titles and can arrange collabs like this pretty easily I assume and B. it’s been teasing it for days now. That isn’t to say the trailer showing off the crossover didn’t have anything concrete, as it did confirm that you’ll be able dress up as Street Fighter baddie Akuma.

The full armour set/ full layered armour set goes a bit further than just aesthetics too, as “equipping either set allows you to use Akuma’s unique item and gestures to perform his fighting moves.” Using the Assisted Combo: Akuma item command lets you a range of his combos like Gou Hadoken and Gou Shoryuken.

Watch on YouTube

Whatever weapon you have equipped will change how much attack power Akuma’s moves will have too. Capcom also shared that Street Fighter 6’s Drive Impact system has been recreated for this free update. Oh, your Palico will be able to dress up like Blanka-Chan too, which might be my favourite addition to the action game this update. In order to get all of these items, you’ll need to complete the side mission that comes along with it, Ultimate Strength.

On top of all of this, there’s a paid DLC pack on the way as well where you can dress up Alma in either a Chun-Li or Cammy outfit. The DLC also comes with a Blanka-Chan Doll pendant, Street Fighter 6 stickers, and gestures. These include classic moves like Hadoken and Shoryuken, which all have attack properties too!

Both the update and the DLC are due out next week, May 28th.

It’s pretty clear Monster Hunter Wilds’ first Capcom collab will be with Street Fighter

by admin May 20, 2025

Capcom dropped a nice and easy-to-parse teaser earlier today for the first collaboration event in Monster Hunter Wilds. We’ve known for a while that the company is working on one such event, and we’ve also known it’s going to be with another Capcom brand.

Naturally, people have been guessing, but today’s teaser makes it pretty clear which other Capcom series the first collaboration will be with.

Over on Twitter, the official Monster Hunter account shared a single image of a claw mark that has a very distinct Street Fighter art style, which inarguably means the first cross-over event will be with the iconic fighting game series.

The tweet doesn’t contain any other information besides, but it’s pretty clear we’re getting closer to a proper announcement. Street Fighter has, of course, crossed over with Monster Hunter games in the past. Monster Hunter World had its fair share of Capcom collaborations, including with Street Fighter.

Pretty clear. | Image credit: Capcom

This would be Wilds’ first, and judging by how Capcom has been known to run these in the past, the new content will very likely be available as part of a limited-time Event Quest. Though we can only guess, it’ll also likely include various pieces of armour that make your Hunter look like a Street Fighter character – such as Ryu.

Usually, Capcom also likes to release other cosmetics for purchase around the same time, too, for those who want some extra bling. Typically, Event Quests are little more grindy than normal quests, especially if you want to get the entire set.

However, considering how much more player-friendly Wilds has been compared to past games, the game’s iteration of this collaboration might end up being more accessible. We’ll also have to wait and see whether this event will only include costumes, or if there’s going to be a little more to it.
