Stripe Launches Tool to Create Stablecoins in Few Lines of Code

by admin October 1, 2025

Global payments giant Stripe is allowing any business to launch its own stablecoin with minimal effort. The new service, called Open Issuance, promises companies they can mint and manage stablecoins “with just a few lines of code.”

Stripe explained that Open Issuance will let businesses freely mint and burn coins, customize reserves, and decide the mix between cash and U.S. Treasuries. The tool is powered by Bridge, a stablecoin infrastructure company Stripe acquired for $1.1 billion in October 2024. Asset management giants BlackRock, Fidelity, and Superstate will handle the treasuries behind the reserves.

According to Stripe, businesses can launch a new stablecoin in just a few days. Stripe claims that it takes only a few days to launch a new stablecoin by a business. Businesses can even establish reward systems, with the income of reserves, to directly reward customers.

Stripe claims that the model minimizes the risks associated with building a stablecoin internally, which is usually accompanied by compliance, liquidity, and reserve management issues.

Stablecoins Gaining Mainstream Ground

Interest in stablecoins has surged under the crypto-friendly U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration. In July, the GENIUS Act was signed, which brought regulatory clarity, pushing the market to almost $300 billion. The U.S. Treasury expects that figure to soar to $2 trillion by 2028.

pursuing a federal banking charter and a trust license in New York to comply with U.S. regulatory requirements, according to The Information.

Risks and Industry Trend

Stablecoins are fast and efficient, but they are also associated with risks related to the management of the reserve and regulation. Stripe believes that its infrastructure-based model will reduce those risks to businesses.

This launch follows a wider industry trend. Just a day earlier, Binance rolled out a white-label “crypto-as-a-service” solution for banks and brokerages.

With Open Issuance, Stripe is positioning itself as a leader in crypto infrastructure, making stablecoin adoption faster, safer, and more accessible for businesses worldwide.

I’m always looking for a sale (I’m assuming you are, too), and I’ve found the best Samsung promo codes and special offers to help you save big on your most important tech purchases. At WIRED, we often review the South Korean company’s products, especially Samsung’s vast lineup of Galaxy smartphones, and I’ve rounded up a bunch of Samsung coupons for (virtually) every type of shopper.

Right now, Samsung has some of the best deals I’ve ever seen on their best-selling tech, and they’re about to get even better with limited-time trade-in credits, a special offer program, and bundle deals. Right now, you can get a Samsung promo code for 10% off TVs—all you have to do is register for their email newsletter. The offer is sent to your inbox and is valid through September 30.

And when you buy products together that you already need, you can save a ton. This includes up to 54% select Galaxy Buds, watches and tablets when you order select products, like the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

If you’re in the market for a new Samsung phone, you can get a new Galaxy Z Fold7 for $10 less with a trade-in. Feeling nostalgic? The new spin on an old classic, the Galaxy Z Flip7 is $150 off or up to $700 off with trade-in.

Or maybe you want one of the Galaxy S25 Ultra models. Get $200 off a Galaxy S25 Ultra, you’ll get up to $940 off with instant trade-in credits, and a storage upgrade for a limited time.

Unlock a 30% Off Samsung Promo Code With Offer Programs, Plus a $100 Referral Code

One of the hottest Samsung promo codes is a whopping 30% discount for government employees, first responders, military personnel, and educators. Samsung also has offer programs, meaning you can combine your promo code discount with most other offers to increase discounts. Get a pal involved for more savings—when a friend uses your referral code to make a purchase at Samsung.com, they’ll get 5% off their purchase (up to $250 off) and you’ll get up to $100 off per order (with the potential to save $1,000 per calendar year). Save up to 35% on These Trending Samsung TV Deals

Along with other great tech, Samsung has some seriously nice TVs. The Samsung Frame TV has been trending this year for its stylish ability to blend into your home’s decor. Plus it just feels more elevated than a regular ol’ TV and mount. Some other trending TVs this Summer have been the Q60D, S90C, and the S95D models–not only do they have instant discounts of over up to 35% ($2,100 off). Plus, there are tons of TV and home theater deals at Samsung, including a bundle offer for $7500 off when you buy a Neo QLED 4K TV with a Dolby ATMOS soundbar. $169 Off With Samsung Promo Code or a $400 Gift Card on Appliances

Although here at WIRED we mostly cover Samsung’s traditional AV tech, they also make top-of-the-line kitchen and home appliances. During the Buy More Save More Event (through December 4), you can get up to 40% off high-tech Samsung kitchen appliances along with free 3-day rush shipping. Special offers also include free installation service, plus Samsung will haul away your old appliances and recycle them, while you get a $50 energy rebate. This futuristic fridge is basically also an iPad, with an AI Family Hub with the large screen and changeable door panels. Plus, there’s AI Vision inside, so you always know what’s inside (and what you need to buy at the store). And the Beverage Center has an internal dispenser or a built-in AutoFill Water Pitcher to get cold, crisp water whenever you want it, whichever way you want.

You can save an extra $170 with code SAVE169 at checkout, plus you’ll get $50 in Samsung Rewards (equal to 10,000 bonus points) with your purchase. And right now, you can get $1,000 off a Bespoke Smart Slide-In Electric Range. This range is straight from a The Jetsons fantasy, with an AI Home LCD display, which is pretty much a kitchen robot helper that gives you personalized recipe recommendations, the ability to search for and follow video recipes, and access your favorite apps so you can see who’s at your door through your video doorbell, and more. There’s also a Smart Oven Camera inside, meaning you can check on meals as they cook from anywhere and even share time-lapse videos to show off your skills.

Stay up to Date on all Things Samsung at WIRED

WIRED also has guides to help determine which Galaxy S24 phone is best for you and how to set up your Samsung Galaxy S25 to ensure you’re getting the most out of its features, as well as advice on which Galaxy S24 series accessories, like cases, chargers, and power banks, are worth the money.

Us nerds here at WIRED also follow CES (sort of the Coachella for tech nerds) for all the updates on tech (almost) no one asked for, and Samsung’s bi-annual Galaxy Unpacked event, where they show off its newest toys. We have a lot of opinions about Samsung’s foldable Galaxy Z Flip6 and Z Fold6 phones. We are also patiently awaiting new releases of Galaxy Tab tablets, a new line of Galaxy Buds Pro 3 wireless earbuds, and a new series of the Galaxy Watch, with a new design and improved sensors for health

How to get Black Ops 7 Twitch drops and early access code

by admin September 28, 2025

If you want to try Black Ops 7 out for free, the upcoming Open Beta starting Oct. 5 is your biggest window. But if you want to jump in even earlier, you can earn a Black Ops 7 early access beta code via Twitch—all you need is some patience.

Here’s how to get the Black Ops 7 early access code as a Twitch drop.

How to get Black Ops 7 early access open beta code

For starters, you need to link your Twitch profile to your Activision account. Once that’s done, mark your calendar for the upcoming Call of Duty Next event on Sept. 30.

To play Black Ops 7 open beta in early access with a free code, follow these steps:

  1. On the day of the event, log in to your Twitch account. Make sure it’s the one connected to your Activision account, which you’ll use to play Black Ops 7.
  2. Tune in to a Call of Duty Next stream on Sept. 30 beginning at 11am CT. You can either join the official stream on Call of Duty’s official Twitch page, or an eligible watch party if any. Check for the “Drops enabled” banner or notification to ensure it’s an eligible stream.
  3. Watch the stream for an hour to get the early access beta code. Once you hit the requirement, you should receive a notification declaring you’ve earned a reward. Open it to get the code.

If you don’t receive the code after an hour of watching, don’t panic. Twitch sometimes takes time to process rewards during such events, with thousands of eligible players fulfilling drop requirements at the same time. We recommend watching the stream until you receive the notification with the Black Ops 7 early access beta code. It may take up to two hours (rarely more) for Twitch to detect your progress, so don’t give up.

As you watch the stream, you can keep track of your progress toward the early access beta code reward. On Twitch, click on the profile icon: Here, you can check the percentage of progression toward a reward when you’re watching an eligible stream. For more details, you can click on the Drops & Rewards option.

Besides hunting for a code, you can also pre-order Black Ops 7 to get early access to Open Beta. And if you don’t want any of these hassles, just wait for the Open Beta, which starts on Oct. 5 and is free to play for everyone.

How to connect your Activision account to Twitch

This is a mandatory step to get the Black Ops 7 early access beta code for free. To connect your Activision account to Twitch, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Activision account.
  2. In the profile page and beside Account Linking, scroll down and click on the “Link account” button beside Twitch. It’ll take you to Twitch.
  3. Log in using your Twitch credentials and authorize the linking.

After this, your accounts will be linked successfully, and you can then watch the event on the said day to earn an early access open beta code for Black Ops 7.

ATM Operator Athena Bitcoin Accused of Stealing Copyrighted Source Code

by admin September 24, 2025

In brief

  • AML Software is suing Bitcoin ATM operator Athena Bitcoin
  • Athena allegedly tried to steal AML Software’s source code.
  • Athena also faces allegations of profiting from elderly scams.

AML Software, a company registered in Illinois, has sued Athena Bitcoin, accusing the Bitcoin ATM operator of trying to steal its source code, according to a complaint filed on Tuesday.

In the 16-page document, AML Software alleged that Athena engaged in copyright infringement, the misappropriation of trade secrets, and “a number of other unlawful acts,” while allegedly trying to overtake 3,000 machines from a third party starting in 2023.

Decrypt has reached out to Athena and AML Software’s lawyers for comment.

AML Software develops code that powers Bitcoin ATMs, and in its complaint, the company described that as “guts” of various machines letting customers exchange cash for crypto. The lawsuit notes that AML Software’s code is copyrighted.

The complaint named several defendants, including Jordan Mirch, who allegedly supervises and controls companies misappropriating AML’s Software in conjunction with Athena. The complaint alleges that Mirch was the“motivating force” behind the scheme.

Decrypt could not reach Mirch for comment.

Years ago, a company called SandP Solutions found itself in a difficult situation, the complaint said. The company was prohibited from operating Bitcoin ATMs in Ohio, making it difficult for it to turn a profit on 2,800 Bitcoin ATMs, the complaint added.

As the CEO of Taproot Acquisition Enterprises, Mirch allegedly managed to obtain SandP Solutions’ Bitcoin ATMs “through fraudulent misrepresentations to [the company] and other unlawful conduct,” which is subject to a separate lawsuit in Illinois.

The machines obtained by Mirch were allegedly being powered by AML Software’s code. At some point, Athena allegedly inquired about purchasing AML Software’s code, but it decided not to proceed with a deal for unspecified reasons.

An AML Software developer was then allegedly contacted by Mirch through Taproot and hired as a consultant. However, the complaint said that the individual was not hired to write new code but rather to try and “wrongfully acquire AML’s copyrighted source code.”

AML Software never authorized the sale of its code, but Mirch and Taproot allegedly set up a side deal with Athena to transfer it, along with the 2,800 ATMs, the Bitcoin ATM operator. According to Athena’s website, the firm operates 3,600 Bitcoin ATMs nationwide.

“It is believed that Athena was fully aware that the Source Code and software platform that Mirch and the Taproot Entities planned to transfer belonged to AML,” the complaint noted.

Under a $9 million settlement agreement earlier this month, Athena said that it was gaining “immediate ownership of ATMs and source code,” while eliminating a revenue sharing agreement with Taproot and its associated entities.

Athena’s stock, which trades over-the-counter, rose 5% to $0.0173 on Monday, according to Yahoo Finance. The company’s stock price has plummeted 84% year-to-date.

The company is facing a separate lawsuit in Washington, D.C., from Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb. He alleged earlier this month that Athena was profiting from scams against the elderly, while charging up to 26% in hidden fees for unwitting customers.

In some cases, local law enforcement has turned to brute force in trying to help victims recover funds lost to scams, but some U.S. courts have found the cash belongs to the ATM operator.

Although liberal lawmakers have been vocal about creating new safeguards, U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) said on Tuesday that she plans to address the problem through market structure legislation being co-sponsored with Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY).

New Novel In The Da Vinci Code Series Gets 40% Launch Discount

by admin September 11, 2025

The sixth novel in the best-selling Robert Langdon series by Dan Brown has arrived. The Secret of Secrets was published by Penguin Random House imprint Doubleday on September 9. Fans of the thriller series can grab the hardcover edition of The Secret of Secrets for only $22.80, which is a 40% discount from the novel’s $38 MSRP. Netflix is already working on a TV series based on The Secret of Secrets.

Though officially known as the Robert Langdon series, many refer to it by the name of the protagonist’s second adventure: The Da Vinci Code. Released in 2003, The Da Vinci Code achieved a level of popularity we might never see again in the world of thriller novels. By 2009, more than 80 million copies of The Da Vinci Code had been sold. It’s one of the best-selling books of all time, and you can add to that total by picking up The Da Vinci Code: Special Illustrated Edition for only $15 (was $40) at Amazon.

Fans waited eight years for The Secret of Secrets, which is the longest gap between Robert Langdon novels in series history. The new novel also happens to be the longest Langdon thriller yet at 688 pages.

In addition to hardcover, The Secret of Secrets is available in large print paperback for $40, Kindle ebook for $16, and as an audiobook via Audible. Earlier this year, Netflix announced a TV series based on The Secret of Secrets.

$22.80 (was $38)

Prior to The Secret of Secrets, the longest novel in the series was Angels & Demons, Langdon’s first adventure, at 572 pages. Three of the Langdon novels are under 500 pages, including The Da Vinci Code, so The Secret of Secrets is quite the doorstopper in comparison.

On a visit to Prague to attend the lecture of his girlfriend and noetic scientist Katherine Solomon, Robert Langdon gets entangled in a dangerous conspiracy of world-altering proportions. When someone is murdered and Katherine disappears–along with a manuscript that “contains startling discoveries about the nature of human consciousness”–Langdon must use his expertise in symbology to find Katherine and unravel the mystery and unmask a shadowy organization.

The Secret of Secrets is said to fuse ancient mythology with technology out of a sci-fi novel.

Like all of Brown’s Da Vinci Code novels, The Secret of Secrets draws from history, but don’t expect it to adhere to the truth. Brown has received criticism for using historical inaccuracies, particularly when it comes to religion, as plot devices. To be fair, these books star a professor of symbology, which is a job that doesn’t exist. Symbology is indeed the study of symbols, but it’s not a formalized field like it’s depicted in Brown’s books. The series is popular because Brown writes fast-paced, high-concept stories that often use true historical events as a foundation before asking the question: What if everything we believe to be true is wrong?

These books are supposed to be fun, not realistic. After all, one of the main plot drivers in The Da Vinci Code is a hidden message on the Mona Lisa. Langdon’s field of study naturally introduces grand conspiracies that readers (and viewers) are captivated by.

The Da Vinci Code / Angels & Demons

If you need to catch up on the Robert Langdon series before diving into his latest high-stakes adventure, the first five books are available for fairly cheap in paperback and hardcover. The series started in 2000 with Angels & Demons, though many readers wound up reading this one after The Da Vinci Code. The third novel, The Lost Symbol, hit bookstores in 2009. Brown followed it up with Inferno in 2013 and Origin in 2017. The first four novels are also available as Special Illustrated Edition hardcovers. The Da Vinci Code Special Illustrated Edition is up for grabs for only $15, just a couple bucks more than traditional hardcover and paperback versions. The Special Illustrated Edition has over 160 full-color illustrations.

Paperback

  1. Angels & Demons — $10.49 ($19)
  2. The Da Vinci Code — $12 ($20)
  3. The Lost Symbol — $15.30 ($19)
  4. Inferno — $14 ($19)
  5. Origin — $10.87 ($19)

Hardcover

  1. Angels & Demons — $18.62 ($38)
  2. The Da Vinci Code — $12 ($38)
  3. The Lost Symbol — $13 ($38)
  4. Inferno — $13 ($38)
  5. Origin — $18 ($38)
  6. The Secret of Secrets — $22.80 ($38)

Special Illustrated Hardcover Edition

  1. Angels & Demons — $30 ($40)
  2. The Da Vinci Code — $15 ($40)
  3. The Lost Symbol — $40.79
  4. Inferno — $37.49 ($40)

Outside of The Da Vinci Code series, Brown has published two standalone novels for adults: Digital Fortress and Deception Point. Released in 1998 as Brown’s debut novel, Digital Fortress is a techno-thriller revolving around government surveillance. Deception Point, published in 2001, is a mystery-thriller about discovering proof of alien life against the backdrop of an important presidential election.

Robert Langdon movie adaptations starring Tom Hanks

Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of The Secret of Secrets means that five of the six novels in the series will have screen adaptations. Tom Hanks starred in popular film adaptations of The Da Vinci Code (2006), Angels & Demons (2009), and Inferno (2016). In 2021, an adaptation of The Lost Symbol premiered on Peacock; the series ran for 10 episodes but was canceled after Season 1. The only Robert Langdon novel without an adaptation is Origin.

If you want to check out the movies and Peacock series, all four are available on Blu-ray. The Robert Langdon 3-Movie Set is only $18.47 (was $31). Alternatively, you can get each movie on 4K for $16-$17 each. The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons received 4K restorations in 2016 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the movie adaptation as well as the theatrical release of Inferno, the final appearance for Hanks as Langdon. The Lost Symbol: Complete Series is $35 on Blu-ray and $25.84 on DVD.

Hollow Knight: Silksong Has A "Cheat Code" That You'll Probably Want To Avoid Using
Game Updates

Hollow Knight: Silksong Has A “Cheat Code” That You’ll Probably Want To Avoid Using

by admin September 9, 2025

Hollow Knight: Silksong is finally here, and players agree that the game kicks ass–mostly their own. Team Cherry’s metroidvania is a challenging adventure, but if you’re feeling masochistic, you can dial up the difficulty further with a “cheat” code that references (but is different than) the infamous Konami code. Simply head to the “Extras” section of the main menu and enter this sequence on the D-pad to unlock Steel Soul Mode:

Up, Down, Up, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right.

So what does Steel Soul Mode do? Once you start a new game, you’ve only got a single life with which to complete the game. No respawns or reloading saves: just a failed run if you fall. Veteran Hollow Knight players might recognize the mode as well, as it was in the first game and it was unlocked after the campaign was beaten for the first time.

If you are struggling right now, there is some good news as Silksong’s first patch will offer a “slight difficulty reduction” to the early bosses–Moorwing and Sister Splinter–when it goes live next week. PC players can also tweak the overall difficulty with several mods that have been released, and if you’re looking for walkthroughs, you can check out GameSpot’s Hollow Knight: Silksong guides hub for several helpful features.

After years of waiting, it looks like Silksong has been a massive hit right out of the gate. The game has reportedly passed 5 million players already and it’s one of the most popular games on Steam currently.

Hollow Knight: Silksong Includes a Secret Konami Code Easter Egg

by admin September 9, 2025

Hollow Knight: Silksong isn’t an easy game, but that difficulty is one of the reasons why fans love it. There are likely some in the fanbase who might even feel it’s too easy, and for them, developer Team Cherry added the most famous of cheat codes to the game, although it doesn’t give you 30 lives.

The famous Konami Code, best known for its inclusion in the NES game Contra, does work in Silksong, but it will make the game far harder, not easier. The secret was found not long after the game came out on Thursday over at the Silksong subreddit. A variation of the code can be inputted in the Extras section of the title screen to unlock the Steel Soul mode on a new playthrough. The description of the unlocked mode says, “No reviving. Death is permanent.”

The secret Steel Soul mode is not for the faint of heart.

Screenshot by Oscar Gonzalez/CNET

As the description suggests, Steel Soul is a permadeath mode, meaning that once you die, it’s game over and your save is wiped. Considering how difficult Silksong has been even for veterans of the Hollow Knight, this option is truly for those who want the highest of challenges. It appeared in the original Hollow Knight as an optional setting made available after beating the game, but Silksong players just need to press a few buttons on the menu screen to unlock it.

The code needed to unlock Steel Mode in the Extras section of the title screen is Up, Down, Up, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right. For consoles, you will need to use the respective controller’s Dpad, while PC requires either using a controller Dpad or the arrow keys on the keyboard. There are no additional buttons to press, and when inputted correctly, the screen will flash. To activate the new much harder difficulty option, back out of the Extras screen, select Start Game, pick New Game and that will take you to the Mode Select screen where Steel Soul is now available.

The Konami Code was first used in Gradius, a shoot ’em up game made by the company and released for the NES in 1986. The full code is Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, and Start on a controller and was programmed into the game’s code by developer Kazuhisa Hashimoto as a way to test the game easily, as it added all the power-ups to the player’s ship. Hashimoto had mistakenly left the code in the NES game, and it was eventually discovered by players in the U.S.

The Konami Code is mainly remembered for its use in 1987’s Contra for the NES, which gave players 30 lives to start the game with. It has since been used in other Konami games and paid homage to by other game developers. Tech companies such as Google and Facebook have also used the code as an Easter egg in their different services over the years.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is out now on PC, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, PS4 and PS5. It’s also available for Xbox Game Pass subscribers.

The Ivalice Chronicles team had to remake the original Final Fantasy Tactics’ source code from scratch

by admin September 6, 2025

The Square Enix team behind Final Fantasy Tactics — The Ivalice Chronicles didn’t just remaster the iconic strategy RPG, they had to go through the trouble of remaking the source code from scratch, according to Bloomberg. In an interview with Bloomberg‘s Jason Schreier, the game’s director Kazutoyo Maehiro explained the arduous process of designing The Ivalice Chronicles, which is set to release at the end of the month.

When getting to work on the remake, Maehiro and his team discovered they had to rebuild the source code from the ground up since it was lost thanks to the industry’s unstandardized practices in the ’90s, according to Bloomberg. When translating Final Fantasy Tactics from Japanese to English for the global release, the company would overwrite the original Japanese version’s code. For Maehiro, that meant the team had to undertake a ground-up overhaul and recreate the source code by playing the original game that released in 1997, consulting the game’s master disc and looking at the 2011 version called Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions, according to Bloomberg. Maehiro also said during a PAX West 2025 panel that the team gleaned a lot of lost info from fan-made databases.

Revealing more of the behind-the-scenes decisions for The Ivalice Chronicles, Maehiro told Bloomberg about the debate surrounding Count Cidolfus Orlandeau. Better known as Cid, and appropriately nicknamed Thunder God Cid, this overtuned character joins you later in the game, but many fans complained about him being overpowered. Instead of nerfing Cid, Maehiro told Bloomberg that keeping this character’s power level the same would better represent the storyline since “his role in the story is being that very powerful character who joins your party.” To quell any concerns of Cid being too broken, Maehiro told Bloomberg that the team decided to buff the other characters to even things out. Looking ahead, Maehiro also hinted at exploring sequels for the Final Fantasy Tactics franchise or even brand new games in the strategy RPG genre, given that The Ivalice Chronicles does well, according to Bloomberg.

Coinbase’s Brian Armstrong Says AI Writes 40% Of Its Code

by admin September 4, 2025

Over 40% of Coinbase’s code is written by artificial intelligence, according to the firm’s CEO, Brian Armstrong, and he has hopes the figure will rise to 50% by next month.

“Obviously it needs to be reviewed and understood, and not all areas of the business can use AI-generated code. But we should be using it responsibly as much as we possibly can,” Armstrong posted to X on Wednesday.

The percentage of AI-generated lines of code at Coinbase has more than doubled since April, according to the chart he shared.

Change in the percentage of Coinbase’s code that is AI-generated. Source: Brian Armstrong

His comments come about a month after Coinbase said one of its biggest focuses is to transform its workforce into “AI-Natives” — signaling it doesn’t plan to replace a significant share of its 4,200 employees with AI anytime soon.

The increased integration of AI into the workforce has sparked widespread fears that many roles will be replaced by AI in the future. The New York Post recently cited an “Oklahoma tech expert” who predicted that job losses caused by AI will cause a global population collapse from 8 billion to 100 million by the year 2300.

But White House’s AI and crypto czar David Sacks and researchers at Big Four accounting firm PwC are among many who have criticized the gloomy predictions, arguing the AI job loss narrative is overhyped and that it may instead boost employee productivity.

AI is streamlining Coinbase’s ops

That view appears to align with Coinbase’s approach as its engineers now regularly use AI-powered coding tools like Copilot, Claude Code, and Cursor to perform their work.

“This has enabled profound success stories that weren’t possible 12 months ago, like single engineers refactoring, upgrading or building new codebases in days instead of months.”

Armstrong recently said on John Collison’s “Cheeky Pint” podcast that he fired engineers who couldn’t give a good reason for not integrating AI into their everyday work just a week after posting a mandate in one of Coinbase’s Slack channels demanding its engineers to start using it.

Coinbase is on the lookout for over 150 devs, engineers

Coinbase is continuing to hire aggressively in its engineering and development departments, with nearly half of its roughly 350 current job openings seeking hard-skilled professionals, according to its website.

Of these, 93 are specifically backend engineering roles, many of which reference AI in the job title or early in the job description.

Customer experience is by far the highest non-tech role with 56 openings.

Fewer crypto layoffs, but also fewer job openings

While large-scale layoffs have eased across the crypto market, industry recruiters have observed a significant tightening in crypto hiring since 2022, largely attributing it to AI diverting talent and capital away from the sector.

“Developers and entrepreneurs follow the money and excitement, and right now AI is soaking up both,” CryptoJobsList founder Raman Shalupau and researcher Stefi Kiemeney said in comments to Cointelegraph last month.
