Only two cities are still standing in Helldivers 2’s battle for Super Earth, and Arrowhead’s kicked off an extra mission that might heal the player base’s biggest divide

by admin May 29, 2025

The last stage of Helldivers 2’s battle for Super Earth is coming down to the wire, as we all expected, wth just two of the planet’s seven mega cities still holding out against The Illuminate. Cue another extra major order to help the major order, and one that’ll cater to the folks who’ve spent the whole squid invasion half a galaxy away.

This comes after the divers successfully managed to get the Democracy Space Station in place by junking a bunch of Automatons while simultaneously fighting to defend those cities, with this key bit of the Galactic War really putting their murder-based multitasking skills to the test.

Now, with Port Mercy and York Supreme having fallen during the early stages of this final phase, only Prosperity City and the wonderfully-named Equality-On-Sea are standing in the way of Super Earth being totally razed of major population centres.

Cue another 24 hour-long mini-mission as the defense of those remaining cities continues, with Arrowhead tasking the divers to defend the planet of Fort Union from an attack by the Terminids, so that its long-range satellites can be used to transmit “malware capable of disabling Illuminate technology” at the squid invasion force, further damaging it and helping save Super Earth.

Given the long-standing feud within Helldivers 2’s player base between folks who always go and fight whichever enemy the current major order and the “bugdivers” who prefer only to battle the Terminids since they find it most fun – something that’s continued to ruffle feathers as the former faction has tried to get everyone to pitch in with this battle for Super Earth has progressed – you’ll not be surprised by the Reddit reaction to the Fort Union “strategic opportunity”.

A whole bunch of posts from major order followers telling the bugdivers that now is their time to shine and do something that’ll help keep Super Earth safe. On the one hand, you can understand their frustration given every extra hand helps – at least in theory – the Helldivers earn victory in these big missions, but on the other, badgering people for not playing a game the way you do isn’t cool.

Hey, maybe if the Fort Union defense is pulled off and The Illuminate are defeated shortly afterwards, this divide among players will be healed forever, as the order followers are forced to acknowledge the role their bug-swatting brethren played in everyone’s home planet being saved. Ok, so such a peace would probably only last five minutes before people started shouting at each other again, but we can dream.

The Terminids aren’t the only bugs Helldivers 2 players have been battling recently – as of writing, Arrowhead’s still working on a fix for a strategem input glitch.

You should forget about Cities Skyline 2’s Bridges & Ports expansions for a while, because it’s been delayed again

by admin May 28, 2025

I think there might be a chance, just ever so slightly, that the development of Cities Skylines 2 has been a bit difficult. The game launched back in October of 2023 and has suffered from performance issues, rushed DLC, and a delay to its first expansion Bridges and Ports. This expansion was meant to come soon after the Beach Properties DLC, but that obviously didn’t happen, catching a delay to sometime in the second quarter of 2025 specifically to continue improving upon the base game. Except the expansion has been delayed once again.

Over on a forum post, developer Colossal Order shared an update explaining why the DLC has caught another delay. “After reviewing the content ourselves and sharing it with our early access group, we’ve received consistent feedback: the bridges are super exciting, and the port works well, but there are aspects of the expansion that are not as polished as they could be.”

This, they say, left them with “a difficult choice: delay the release once again to add more depth, or release it as-is, knowing players may feel it falls short.” Colossal also said they think Bridges and Ports is enjoyable as is, but to “bring it to the level you deserve, we need more time.” Now, it’s expected to launch sometime in the fourth quarter of this year.

Ironically, a free update is coming on June 11th that was meant to coincide with the expansion that includes a couple of new bridges, three leisure piers, and three quays. It’s something! To be fair to Colossal, delaying it probably is the better decision, I could quite easily see another botched DLC sinking that city builder shaped ship.

I think there was some famous guy who had a plumber for a son that once said something like “a delayed Bridges and Ports expansion is eventually good, but a rushed Bridges and Ports expansion is forever bad.” Might be paraphrasing.

Cities: Skylines 2's first big expansion delayed yet again as studio seeks to "add more depth"

Cities: Skylines 2’s first big expansion delayed yet again as studio seeks to “add more depth”

by admin May 27, 2025

Cities: Skylines 2 players are facing yet another delay for the beleaguered city builder’s first major DLC expansion, with publisher Paradox Interactive having announced a new release window of “Q4” this year – closing in on two years after it was originally due to launch.

Cities: Skylines 2’s troubles are well documented; the city builder sequel got off a disastrous start in 2023, forcing developer Colossal Order to reprioritise its development efforts amid significant criticism of the game’s performance. Initially, the studio had planned to release its first DLC – the Beach Properties Asset Pack – shortly after launch, but it was delayed into the following year, while all other announced DLC (the Urban Promenades and Modern Architecture Creator Packs, and the Bridges & Ports expansion) shifted from Q1 2024 to Q2.

Unfortunately, the Beach Properties’ eventual arrival did little to improve the community’s goodwill; it was slammed by players for its high price and lacklustre content, leading Colossal Order to announced an ‘indefinite’ delay for all future paid DLC. Bridges & Ports was moved into 2025 as a result, but a further delay was announced last September, while Colossal Order focused its efforts on completing what it called the “crucial” assets editor.

In the months since, Colossal Order has continued to make improvements to the base game and launched some free “region” DLC. But that “crucial” assets editor remains unreleased, and now the studio has opted to delay Bridges & Ports yet again, moving it out of Q2 this year into Q4. “We’ve spent the last five months working hard on the Bridges & Ports DLC, and towards our upcoming expected release,” the studio wrote in a message shared on the Paradox forum. “After reviewing the content ourselves and sharing it with our early access group, we’ve received consistent feedback: the bridges are super exciting, and the port works well, but there are aspects of the expansion that are not as polished as they could be.”

“That left us with a difficult choice,” it continued, “delay the release once again to add more depth, or release it as-is, knowing players may feel it falls short. We believe the current content is enjoyable, but we’re not blind to what’s missing, and to bring it to the level you deserve, we need more time… We’re assessing feedback from our early access group and mapping out what we want to improve when the expansion launches – which we are now expecting in Q4 of this year. This is still a beautiful expansion, and we’re excited about what it will add to your city. We just want to ensure it adds enough to meet your deservedly high expectations.”

Cities: Skylines 2 players won’t, however, be left waiting for new content until the end of this year. Colossal Order has elected to release the free update it was originally intending to ship alongside Bridges & Ports on 11th June, offering “a bit of content that gives a slight sneak peek of what is to come in the expansion”. It’ll include two new bridges, three leisure piers, and three quays, with more details available in today’s forum post.

As for Cities: Skylines 2’s much-delayed console port, there’s still no hint as to when that might arrive. It was originally due to launch alongside the PC version back in October 2023, but has remained in limbo since then, with Colossal Order admitting it has struggled to overcome “hardware limitations” impacting performance on Xbox Series X/S and PS5. Back in March, it warned, “We will not have a release before summer”, but there’s been no update since then.

“This is the endgame” Helldivers 2’s battle for Super Earth has entered its “final phase”, with agonising failure triggering an “all-out assault” on the final four cities

Time must fly when you’re having fun. Or at least when you’re defending Super Earth from a huge Illuminate invasio. Helldivers 2’s latest major order is the “final phase” of the battle for the divers’ home planet that’s been raging since the Heart of Democracy update dropped on May 20.

I must admit, I thought the Galactic War twist that’s brought the biggest number of Helldivers back to the game of any update it’s gotten so far would last a bit longer than three MOs. Then again, this is Helldivers 2 – the war ain’t anywhere close to over while there are still troops on the march and enemies to surf on.

First of all, the last major order, which expired earlier today, was a proper heartbreaker. After casually killing 2.5 billion Illuminate in the first stage of Super Earth’s defense, players weren’t quite able to successfully extract from missions against the Illuminate 20 million times. They got damn close, though.

So, with that, while the divers have worn the Illuminate fleet’s strength down to an estimated “24% of its original operating power”, only four of Super Earth’s seven Mega Cities are left standing. Yep, two more have joined the brilliantly-named Eagleopolis as smouldering wrecks.

Cue Arrowhead’s latest order, which declares the third phase of Super Earth’s defense to be the final one. “High Command anticipates an all-out assault to take the final four Mega Cities,” the studio wrote, “The Illuminate have spent a century preparing for this invasion; they will hold back nothing. What has come before was the preamble; this is the endgame…The Helldivers have their orders: HOLD Super Earth.”

MAJOR ORDER: The Battle for Super Earth enters its final phase. The survival of Freedom hangs in the balance.

For days on end, we have defied annihilation. We have resisted Tyranny. We have demonstrated the unified might of Managed Democracy.

The cost has been grievous.… pic.twitter.com/vFRBOH62xG

In order to do that, players’ll need to dig in on Super Earth against the squids, while also scrapping 200 million Automatons so they can bring the Democracy Space Station back online to aid that first bit. As of writing, nearly 98 million bots have already been bashed in since the order debuted this morning.

Folks are seemingly going all out, no doubt buoyed by the fact today’s little Helldivers 2 patch – 01.003.003 – made a very popular change to the Reinforced Epaulettes passive that comes with the armour sets from the recently deployed Masters of Ceremony Warbond. As well as making your limbs less likely to snap like twigs, you’ll now be able to reload your primary weapon 30% faster and do 50% more melee damage when rocking the Parade Commander and Honorary Guard sets.

Cue celebrations on Reddit.

Eagleopolis has fallen despite Helldivers 2 players slapping up 2.5 billion squids for an opening victory in the battle for Super Earth, leaving six Mega Cities to defend

Do you want the good news or the bad news first? Well, good news, Helldivers 2 managed to win the first major order of the battle for Super Earth by slaughtering over two billion Illuminate. The bad news? It’s not stopped Eagleopolis from falling.

As it turns out, not even the biggest number of Helldivers the game’s had since last spring diving in to help try and hold off the invasion of fresh Illuminate baddies was enough to stop one of Super Earth’s seven Mega Cities being reduced to ruins. It’s ok, don’t cry. Hug your SEAF buddy and watch a clip of someone surfing on a Leviathan if that’ll help.

The previous major order, which was the Helldivers’ initial defense of Super Earth after the Illuminate invasion of their home planet began with the arrival of the Heart of Democracy update, ended this morning. Things looked good, the goal of casually killing 2.5 billion Illuminate had been achieved. Let the good times roll right?

Nope, said Arrowhead. “Eagleopolis, a venerable stronghold of Managed Democracy since time immemorial, lies in ruins,” the studio informed us all via its latest MO briefing, “Its tattered shopping centers stand in warning as to the fate that awaits the rest of Super Earth, should our mission fail.”

So, that’s one of the seven Mega Cities which make up Super Earth destroyed, but there’s still a long way to go in the battle for Super Earth, and that win has seen folks make some progress towards wiping out the entire Illuminate fleet or forcing it to retreat.

“Illuminate Fleet Strength currently stands at 49%,” Arrowhead continued, “Six Mega Cities remain standing. The Helldivers must dig in, alongside their SEAF allies, and continue to fight, day and night, to defend the heart of our Federation. The surviving Mega Cities must be defended at all costs. The Helldivers must deploy to the Mega Cities as Illuminate pressure shifts among them to prevent them from falling. Once they fall, they cannot be reclaimed.”

Hence the latest order’s goal – successfull extract from missions against the Illuminate 20 million times, in order to strike a further blow to the fleet’s big invisible health bar. And, of course, to avenge Eagleopolis, which I’m sure people on the game’s subreddit would be cut up about if they weren’t too busy post fan art about loving their SEAF trooper buddies in a fashion that totally isn’t getting a bit creepy.

Are you shedding super tears for Eagleopolis? Let us know below!
