Ethereum Dead Cat Bounce in Play? Here’s What Chart Says

Ethereum (ETH) has jumped by 9.19% in the last seven days as the asset maintained stability above the $4,000 level. This uptick has sparked bullish sentiment in the Ethereum community as investors anticipate an upsurge toward $5,000.

Analyst warns of “Dead Cat Bounce” in Ethereum

However, MikybullCrypto, a crypto trader on X, maintains that an Ethereum “dead cat bounce” that could trap bulls is at play. For clarity, a dead cat bounce refers to a brief recovery period for an asset when the price goes up a little, after a huge decline. Notably, the asset reverses the uptick and continues its previous downward trend.

MikybullCrypto is suggesting that the current upward movement in price might be short-lived and entrap investors who are bullish on the asset. He maintained that any investor who buys ETH now, anticipating a further price surge, could suffer losses when it falls quickly.

The analyst, relying on a TradingView chart, highlighted that Ethereum has been on a descending path since July 2025, when the price hovered around $3,500. He is using this as a baseline price for Ethereum, insisting a massive dump could see the coin drop from its current levels.

As of press time, Ethereum is changing hands at $4,389.30, which represents a 5.42% increase in the last 24 hours. ETH had earlier traded at a peak of $4,423.12 before slipping as a result of market volatility. There has been a surge in trading volume by up to 40.32% to $51.34 billion within the same time frame.

The market outlook suggests a solid recovery for Ethereum. Hence, members of the community are reacting to MikybullCrypto’s analysis with skepticism. A user stated that the current setup looks like a bear trap, not a bull trap, implying that Ethereum is likely to continue its upward momentum.

Interestingly, Ethereum whales, within this period, have intensified their accumulation move.

When the price fell below the critical $4,000 level, these large holders received 431,018 ETH, valued at over $1.73 billion from different exchanges. This was considered a bullish move as the direction of flow moved from exchanges to wallet signal stacking.

However, less than 48 hours ago, an unknown wallet transferred 198,289 ETH worth about $852 million to a crypto futures exchange. Coming at a time of price rebound, some market watchers are treating it as an attempt to sell, although it was not specified.

With Ethereum receiving mixed predictions from analysts, the price outlook will become clearer with time.

XRP: Dead Cat Bounce or Actual Recovery Attempt?

XRP has recovered modestly from the $2.70 level, where selling pressure temporarily subsided, but now finds itself at a crucial crossroads. Debate has centered on whether the bounce is the start of a recovery attempt, or just a dead cat bounce in the middle of a larger downtrend.

As can be seen from the chart, XRP is currently trading at about $2.78, below the 100-day EMA at about $2.83 as well as its descending trendline resistance. Bulls are put to the test right away by these two obstacles. It is still possible that the current move will be classified as a temporary relief rally rather than a structural recovery, until XRP can convincingly regain this zone and maintain momentum above $2.90-$3.00.

The recent decline below $2.88 was noteworthy, because it deprives XRP of a crucial mid-range support level. At $2.60, the price then fell back to the 200 EMA, which held firm and served as the foundation for the current rebound. Accordingly, even though bears control the short-term trend, the longer-term structure holds firm as long as $2.60 is not broken.

Momentum not flipping

The outlook offered by momentum indicators is not entirely clear. There are currently no clear indications of bullish divergence, and the RSI is close to 44, indicating neutral-to-weak momentum. Compared to the strong sell-side activity during the decline, volume on the rebound has also been muted, which raises doubts about how strong the recovery will be.

XRP might aim for $3.10 and possibly retest the descending resistance line close to $3.20 if it is able to break above $2.90. A move like that would start to cast doubt on the idea that this is merely a dead cat bounce. On the other hand, if $2.83-$2.90 cannot be regained, there may be more downward pressure, which could push XRP back toward $2.70, and perhaps retest $2.60.

XRP’s recovery is still uncertain. The $2.83-$2.90 range will determine whether this move is a true attempt at recovery or merely a brief rest before lowering the leg again. As of right now, it is still best to exercise caution until XRP can demonstrate that it can effectively reverse its downward trend.

The Best Cat Litter Depends on Your Cat and Type of Litter Box

After testing dozens of automatic litter boxes, I can say it’s been difficult to determine which is the best cat litter (or rather, if there is one). Most people will want to look for a low-tracking, clumping cat litter that’s compatible with their litter box. But there are other factors to consider, like allergens, material, the litter box itself, and how you’ll deal with the waste.

In recent years, there have been leaps and bounds in the pet tech sphere as a whole—including where our cats go potty and what litter they go potty in. In the past, the choices were an absorbent clay whose main compound was calcium bentonite, sawdust, or sand. Now, we have high-tech crystal litter, which aims to show health issues through changing color; eco-friendly tofu litter; and all types of clumping clay litter between. After a year of testing litter boxes and scooping tons of cat litter, let me sift through (get it?) the options so you can determine the best type of cat litter for you and your furry friend.

Should You Change Up Your Litter?

There are many reasons why you may want to change your litter. Your cat may be like mine, with sensitivities to strong odors or smells that can cause allergies or allergy-like symptoms like red eyes or itching. Or maybe your cat is long-haired, like mine, and you’re tired of litter sticking to their fur.

If you want to be more eco- (and budget-) friendly, a biodegradable tofu or wood pellet litter may be better. But for these, you’ll need to introduce the change slowly, and often you’ll have to change the box you’re using. (More on that below.)

As a helicopter pet parent who brushes their cats’ teeth and shaves their butts, I honestly just want to make sure I have a litter that keeps my cat (and me) comfortable, giving them a safe space to potty and an easier time to clean it for me.

I look for, and recommend folks do trial and error to find, a litter that has all of these elements:

Clumping: Many brands claim to clump effectively, but you’ll need to monitor while scooping to see if they actually are, or if they’re leaving smaller bits that sneak through grates while cleaning.
Scent-free or low scent: Cats can smell 14 times better than humans, and strong odors can irritate their respiratory system and lead to itching, watery eyes, and other symptoms, including not wanting to use the litter box at all because the scent is overwhelming.
Low–tracking: Same as clumping litters above, many litters claim to be low tracking, but I’ve found that the best way to lessen litter tracking around the house is to have a great clumping litter and add as much space as possible between the box and the floor. This means that, in addition to clumping litter, add accessories like stairs (if your cat is mobile enough), a ramp, or a litter-trapping mat to increase the distance between the box and your floor, to reduce litter tracking. Litters that aim to be low-tracking are generally better at dust control, which also help with general cleanliness and lower irritants.

I’ve tested several types of cat litter from Boxiecat, and although pricey, they have all managed odor well, had low dust/tracking, and scooped easily in clumps (and worked well with my automatic litter box).

Compare the Most Popular Types of Litter

As said before, there used to be limited litter options, now there’s tofu, wood, silica crystals, recycled paper, and even nut shells. While something like wood pellets is more eco-friendly and cheaper, you’ll have to factor in your litter box and whether your cat takes to the new litter. (Although slow introduction is key.)

Clay cat litter: This is by far the most popular litter type, and most closely resembles what cats would be using in the wild. Clumping clay cat litter is what I recommend for most people, as it primarily uses a naturally absorbent bentonite clay. It expands when wet/soiled, making it “clump,” which is easier to scoop and generally more hygienic. However, it’s not as environmentally friendly because it’s not biodegradable and can contain carcinogenic silica dust.
Tofu cat litter: This relatively new litter is great because it’s environmentally friendly. It’s made out of soybean fiber, making it naturally biodegradable, nontoxic, and way less dusty than traditional choices. If bought in pellet form (the most popular option), they clump well and can even be flushed in the toilet, although it can be pricey and can grow mold in humid conditions.
Crystal cat litter: This type of litter is made from silica mined from quartz sand and mixed with oxygen and water to make super absorbent pellets (akin to the absorbing powers of those little silica gel packets found in many newly bought items). It’s lightweight and has great odor control. Crystal litter is pricey, not biodegradable or clumping (requires daily sifting), easily tracks, can be an uncomfortable texture for paws, and is difficult for some cats to get used to using. Popular brands like PrettyLitter actually use a special silica formula that aims to track health changes through changing colors based on urinary PH. Although I’m slightly reluctant to use it because of reviews of the silica litter being ingested and harming cats and causing respiratory issues because of the particle dust.
Paper or wood pellets: Paper and wood pellets are cheap, have low dust and tracking, and are eco-friendly because they’re biodegradable. (Paper pellets are also great for injured or post-operation pets, because the litter is low-dust and there’s less chance for litter to get stuck in wounds.) However, this doesn’t control odor well, is non-clumping, and needs to be changed frequently (you’ll probably need a sifting litter box). Wood pellets are also often made of pine and can have an overwhelming scent.
Walnut shell cat litter: Made from crushed walnut shells, this is often used as a much lighter, more natural alternative to clay litter. It’s lightweight and has a texture similar to clay, and is biodegradable. Although it can track, spoil in moist conditions, and requires frequent emptying/cleaning.
We don’t recommend corn cat litter, as corn is prone to a toxic mold called aflatoxin. This can cause health issues for cats and in humans who have asthma or COPD and are immunocompromised or elderly.

Alleged Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra fight video shows Black Panther having an Angry Cat moment in a bar

Development footage of what appears to be upcoming superhero action game Marvel 1943: Rise Of Hydra has exploded upon the internet like Black Panther clawing his way into a seedy Parisian bar and flinging himself at alt-fascist soldiers in a whirlwind of kicked chairs and bursting bottles. This also being the content of said video.

Assuming the leaked goods are the Real McCoy, they suggest that the game will be a fast and furious brawler with a fair amount of environment destruction, which is probably what you’re expecting from a game with Azzuri and Steve Rogers on the poster.

The footage comes to us via MP1st, who attribute it to “a developer who worked on the game”, and say it was created between 2022 and 2023, but do not link to the portfolio that originally contained it.

They’ve also found a selection of images that show various possible Marvel 1943 environments, including a plush lamp-lit hallway, a vast cavern entrance with dangling stalactites, a bunch of building-top areas with glass conservatory roofs, and a hazy nocturnal view of searchlights over what is presumably Paris.

Assuming it’s the Genuine MacGyver, the leaked Black Panther video is very clearly WIP. The fixed camera perspective suggests that it’s an internal test, knocked together to illustrate the flow of a typical Marvel 1943 fight scene. As such, we should be careful about reading too much into it. But I have to say, I do enjoy the 5am cat energy here.

If you live with a younger feline, you’ll be familiar with that time of day when they Catch The Crazy and start zipping about, striking amateur ninjitsu poses and climbing every nearby human bodypart/piece of furniture. I’d love it if Black Panther had a Zoomies mode that caused him to spontaneously sit on Captain America’s face. I’d love it if he had a special terrain execution that consisted of hiding under the sofa and slashing people’s feet off. “D’awww,” the abbreviated sturmtruppen of Hydra would coo, clutching their bloody stumps. “What on Earth is going through his ickle head.”

Developed by Skydance New Media and published by Plaion, with former Naughty Dog scribe Amy Hennig on-board to produce and co-write, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is the story of Captain America and the Panther fighting Hydra in occupied France, though part of it is set in Wakanda. It’s inspired by the comicbook series Captain America/Black Panther: Flags of Our Fathers.

Announced in 2024, the game is slated to land in early 2026. Which is not that far away, and Plaion have shown us little of the game beyond a couple of ‘cinematic’ trailers. I’ll ask them if they have any comment on this footage, and when we can see more of the game.

“The cat’s out of the bag” – Stardew Valley update 1.7 revealed, bagged cat content TBC

Stardew Valley will get at least one more significant game update, says Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, mere months after stating that he doesn’t “want to just be the Stardew Valley guy.” It’ll be called update 1.7, and the trimness of the numbering implies that it’ll be a large one. For context, Stardew Valley update 1.6 brought eight player PC co-op, new crops, a lot more NPC dialogue, a mastery system, new pets, and the ability to give those pets hats (which caused a few problems).

“Okay, I revealed this at the concert last night and now the cat’s out of the bag, so I will confirm for everyone: There will be a Stardew Valley 1.7 update,” Barone wrote on Xitter over the weekend. “No release date, no estimate. But it’s happening.”

Barone is theoretically also working on a brand new game, the more combat-focussed RPG Haunted Chocolatier, but Stardew Valley keeps luring him back, for there is always something else to fix or introduce, however daft. “It’s just so much easier to just add more stuff to Stardew Valley than to make a whole new game from scratch,” he said in May. “Because Stardew Valley, all the systems, the major systems, are already all done. That’s the stuff that’s not fun to do. When I make an update, it’s like, throw in this, throw in that, let’s add green rain. These random ideas I have. Whimsical ideas.”

In Barone’s defence, if I had made the fourth best-selling premium PC game of all time, I would feel in no great rush to move on from it. I would tinker for years. Well, I mean, I would actually take a lot of holidays. But in between all those trips to Alton Towers and when not playing Micro Machines in my bedroom-sized caramel fondue, I would do plenty of tinkering. Ah, I imagine George R. R. Martin wishes he could be updating the old GOT novels instead of writing The Winds Of Winter.

Hidden Cats in Paris, Switch 2

Last week was a busy one, and when I got back from Gamescom I just wanted my mind to switch to idle animation for a while. So rather than jumping into a game that would require me to use more brain power than I was in possession of, I decided to take a browse through the eShop for something cheap, mindless (in a good way) and that could be played while cocooned in bed. What I landed upon was Hidden Cats in Paris, which I scooped up for 89p, and ahhh, it ticked all of the necessary boxes.

Hidden Cats in Paris begins with a monochromatic illustration of a Parisian scene, with cafes, a cabaret, the Eiffel Tower and other French fancies. Hidden within this scene are – you guessed it – cats! The aim of the game is simply to find all of the hidden cats, and as I did so, the scene gradually coloured in. When I found the last cat tucked behind a railing, the French music that had been soothing me in the background swelled, and fireworks lit the inky blue night sky.

Honestly, it was the perfect tonic for the end of a very busy week. I think I may try Hidden Cats in Rome next.

Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, PS5

Silksong who? I’m a 2D action platformer sicko, me. And I think this year is shaping up to be a golden year for the genre. We’ve already had the pulpy nonsense of Ninja Gaiden Unbound to drool over, and now we’ve got Sega coming back with a compelling, modern take on one of its most storied icons (no, not Sonic) in the form of Joe Mushashi.

Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is one of those games that I installed out of a sense of curiosity, but then promptly lost about seven hours to in one evening as I went sniffing out secrets, unlocking upgrades and Ninja Flipping my way over a rogue’s gallery of demons, commandos and rival shinobi. It’s fast, it’s flexible, and it’s hard without being unfair. A perfect training ground for my ageing hands as I try to wake up my synapses and reflexes ahead of Silksong’s launch next week.

The Rogue Prince of Persia, PS5

It’s not often a 2D game demands you interact with the background, but it’s one of the things I love about this new roguelike Prince of Persia game. As Matt eloquently put it last week, the series has always been known for its movement but this new game from the team behind Dead Cells is “beautifully balletic carnage”. Part of that is squeezing the left trigger for the Prince to run up and along walls, creating a pleasing rhythm to platforming and an opportunity to dodge attacks too.

Having spent plenty of time in Dead Cells, The Rogue Prince of Persia has proven easy to slip into and to while away a few hours in. I’m having a great time with it. I just wish it was better optimised. Loading often takes an age, and after a recent update I lost a chunk of progress. Thankfully, it was fun enough to do again – and isn’t that the point of roguelikes anyway?

Minami Lane, Switch 2

Existing is stressful at times, and while I do have other hobbies to help me relax, sometimes 15 minutes on a calming game is what I need. That’s how Minami Lane found itself in my routine this week.

Management games give me a space where I am completely in control, and for some reason I find that relaxing. Not only are the soothing colour tones and whimsical soundtrack enough to lull me into a calmer mood, but being able to create a small street with an Onsen on, and a Ramen Shop, that the townsfolk are enjoying, makes me breathe deeper and focus better on what I’m doing.

Somehow it tells my mind everything is OK. I don’t know how and I don’t need to know how. Minami Lane has a magic to it and it works wonders on me.

No Man’s Sky, PC

It’s happening again! Firstly, this was the week I finally wrapped my rewatch of Twin Peaks: The Return, so – still haunted by the sound of Carrie Page screaming into an unknowable oblivion of an unfamiliar world – today’s WWBP entry is very much served with a side helping of unshakeable existential nightmare. Which is actually pretty appropriate, given the similar vein of bleak philosophy that continues to haunt No Man’s Sky and its doomed universe. Not that I’ve been dipping back in for such lofty matters!

Instead, this week finally saw Hello Games’ exploratory sci-fi sim introduce fully customisable ships, complete with multi-crew capabilities and functional interiors. And while they don’t fundamentally change No Man’s Sky’s familiar survival rhythms, there’s something deeply, wonderfully satisfying about getting to explore the cosmos in a gleaming vessel – or in my case, an awkwardly assembled eyesore – that you’ve carefully (hastily) assembled to meet your own idiosyncratic fancies. So, if you happen to see a garishly coloured oblong teetering through space on your travels, do come and say hello!

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, PC

I genuinely don’t know how this passed me by – and props to the Eurogamer Discord for encouraging me in its direction. It’s a Don’t Nod game, a studio known for Life is Strange, though its vampire game, um, Vampyr is probably more relevant. Banishers is similar, you see. It’s a different concept – you’re a ghost banisher working in the 17th century in what Europeans would call the New World, or New England, or New Eden in this case – but the thoughtful adult tone and darkness of the world to me feel exactly the same. I’d even go as far as to say Banishers is a slow game, but slow in a mature way, by which I mean ‘given time to develop, given time to breathe’.

It’s really interesting and creatively brave. On the surface it looks like a lot of other games but underneath are many points of difference. I don’t remember another game revolving around a deeply-in-love couple from the start. I don’t remember a game with ghost-banishing ideas like this, or with such consistently engaging quests. The English language vocal performances of the two main characters are also superb, from Russ Bain and Amaka Okafor. The vocal performances are strong across the game, actually.

Banishers is a surprise package – the sort of game I imagine many people would say they would want to see, if asked. But it didn’t do the business for publisher Focus Home – Banishers performed “well below” expectations, even. Will it mean Don’t Nod simply won’t attempt something like this in the future? Because that would be a shame. A great shame indeed.

Resident Evil 3 Remake, PC

I’ve redownloaded the RE3 Remake while I wait for another game to review properly, or for 2XKO to launch on 9th September. I needed something fast but chunky. Moreish, explosive, and replayable. What better game than the RE3 Remake?

The truth is there are likely 50 games better than the RE3 Remake in this regard, but I already owned it on Steam and it’s like 20GB to download, which isn’t bad. And I’d forgotten how great Jill is in this, and I love Nemesis so much. Carlos is also great, though the hospital defence segment isn’t. I hit credits last night with a B rank, and all but one of the little doll collectables found.

Now I get to go through again, with a bunch of points to spend on little bonuses. I’m going to go for either the fiery knife to save ammo, or a fancy new pistol as I work my way through the pistol kill challenge. Wish me luck.

Does the cat die in Caught Stealing?

Caught Stealing is a new crime caper that kicks off when the hero agrees to look after his neighbor’s cat. So does the moggy make it to the end of the movie? If you need to know that information before seeing the film, we’ve got you covered.

Caught Stealing is an action thriller based on the 2004 of the same name by Charles Huston, directed by The Whale helmer Darren Aronofsky, and starring Elvis actor Austin Butler.

We awarded the film 3-stars in our Caught Stealing review, and wrote that “everyone involved is clearly having a blast, and that fun factor bleeds through the screen, in a movie that delivers twists and turns and tonal shifts that’ll make your head spin.”

A furry feline called Bud plays pretty heavily into proceedings, and as some viewers like to know if animals survive a movie before deciding to watch, we’ve got those details below. Though that means CAT SPOILERS ahead…

Does the cat die in Caught Stealing?

No, the cat does not die during Caught Stealing, with Bud making it to the end of the movie pretty much intact.

There is an act of animal cruelty during the film, but mercifully, it takes place off camera, with gangster Pavel revealing he threw the cat across the room when it bit him.

Which is different to how the scene plays out in the book, where said gangster snaps the cat’s leg during a scene. Something Aronofsky clearly decided was too shocking for the screen.

Bud does spend the rest of the movie limping around with his leg in a bandage, but come the end that has healed, and the cat is alive and well, though still very much a biter should strangers try to pet him.

Who plays Bud in the movie?

Bud is played by a Siberian forest cat called Tonic, who hails from Toronto.

Previous credits include the 2019 Pet Sematary remake and 2023 slasher Thanksgiving, and Austin Butler – who spends most of the movie carrying Tonic/Bud around in a duffle bag – says the cat is a consummate professional.

“Tonic is so brilliant, isn’t he? He’s a scene stealer,” Butler told NPR. “He had this very primal fire in his eyes, you know. And so when you fed him a treat, he didn’t just take it out of your hand with his mouth. He would grab it with his paw. He’s like this tiny little tiger. It’s just so impressive to see. And then on top of that, he could stay on a mark for an hour and a half, he’s just so focused.”

But there were similarities between the cat and his alter-ego, with Aronofsky revealing: “Tonic’s not a type of cat you pet. I would have to stop myself because Tonic doesn’t like to be touched. You just have to respect that.”

The most recent price movement of XRP is more indicative of a traditional dead cat bounce than a long-term recovery. Momentum vanished nearly as fast as it had appeared, and the asset was unable to produce significant continuation after momentarily regaining ground above $3.00. It is now clear to traders who were anticipating a breakout that the rally was brief, leaving XRP vulnerable to additional declines. The weakness is clearly visible on the daily chart.

At first, the 100-day EMA supported XRP’s attempt to recover from the $2.80 support zone. But almost instantly, selling pressure returned to the 50-day EMA, where price action stalled. Because of the rejection, XRP is now trading below important moving averages, and the 26-day EMA is not offering any significant support. In the absence of a robust catalyst or fresh buying interest, the setup is strongly biased toward bearish continuation.

Volume supports the notion that there was little participation in the rally, because the rebound coincided with a drop in trading activity. In the absence of volume expansion, breakouts are rarely sustained. This dynamic demonstrates that the most recent upward push was not the beginning of a new bullish wave but rather a technical relief move.

Indicators of momentum like the RSI provide more proof. The RSI rapidly retreated after rising slightly during the bounce, indicating waning strength.
