Faraday Future pivots to crypto and AI as car sales falter

by admin August 18, 2025

Amid struggles in its EV business, cash-starved Faraday Future is pivoting to crypto and AI.

Summary

  • Faraday Future is pivoting to crypto and embodied AI
  • The firm hopes its crypto treasury will attract capital and help it raise cash for its business
  • So far, Faraday Future has produced only 16 of its FF 91s vehicles

The struggling EV startup Faraday Future is pivoting to crypto and AI. On Sunday, August 17, EV startup Faraday Future announced the launch of a treasury product, as well as a new focus on embodied AI.

Faraday Future is launching the C10 Treasury product, a weighted basket of the top 10 crypto assets, excluding stablecoins. The fund will allocate 80% of the funds according to the index and actively manage the other 20% for greater returns.

The fund is aiming for $500 million to $1 billion in initial crypto asset purchases, with an initial purchase of $30 million. Moreover, the company hopes to earn an estimated 3% to 5% in staking yields, which it will use to fund stock buybacks and innovation in its core business.

Faraday Future’s business struggles

Faraday Future hopes to leverage crypto and AI to reinvigorate interest in its business. According to the firm, the goal is to combine the short-cycle crypto business with the long-cycle embodied AI for electric vehicles.

“The next decade could be a super long bull cycle for the crypto market,” said Ian Calderon, FF Co-Creation Officer. “FF is building a dual-engine circular growth system — combining the long-cycle, high-value EAI EV ecosystem with the short-cycle, high-velocity Crypto ecosystem. These two flywheels will empower each other, redefining what’s possible in mobility and financial innovation.”

Once dubbed a potential Tesla competitor, Faraday Future’s business has been struggling. By January 2025, the company had only produced 16 of its flagship FF 91 vehicles. Most were given to employees and advocates.

Retired Lego Bowser Muscle Car Is Only $24 At Amazon, Sold Out Everywhere Else

by admin August 18, 2025

Amazon has restocked the newly retired Lego Super Mario: Bowser’s Muscle Car. The popular 458-piece building set was first listed for retirement by Lego alongside two other Super Mario Lego products back in May. Since then, all other major retailers have run out of units. Notably, Amazon is also offering a discount on Bowser’s Muscle Car, dropping the price back down to $24 (was $30). Amazon had been charging full price in recent weeks, so this may be your last chance to buy this awesome little Lego Super Mario set for a bargain price.

Lego Super Mario: Bowser’s Muscle Car (71431)

Bowser’s Muscle Car is no longer part of Lego’s “Retiring Soon” page, so it is officially retired and won’t be returning to the Lego Store. Two other Lego Super Mario sets will soon disappear as well: the 598-piece Soda Jungle Maker Set (71434) and the 173-piece Goomba’s Playground (71433). Both of these sets remain in stock at a couple of retailers, with Amazon and Target having the best deals on both. Relatedly, Amazon is the only retailer with all four of the retired Lego Super Mario: Donkey Kong sets in stock.

$23.95 (was $30)

Bowser’s Muscle Car is a 458-piece build that is technically considered a Lego Super Mario expansion playset, but it doubles as an awesome and very affordable display set for fans of the iconic villain. The brick-built Bowser figure can stand and be displayed on his own or behind the wheel of his signature ride from Super Mario 3D World.

The unique purple and yellow car is 6 inches long, 4 inches wide, and 2.5 inches tall. It comes with a pair of bomb accessories to lob at your Interactive Lego Mario, Luigi, and Peach figures. If one of your Interactive Lego Mario figures manages to steal the vehicle, the Action Tag in the driver’s seat triggers unique sound effects and reactions. But keep in mind, those interactive elements are only possible if you own one of the electronic figures from the starter sets.

Bowser’s Muscle Car’s retirement is probably at least partially related to the new Lego Mario Kart: Bowser’s Castle set that launched August 1. The $100, 1,068-piece playset features Bowser and Yoshi with karts for each character. The King Koopa figure is the same one included with Bowser’s Muscle Car.

Lego Mario Kart Playsets:

If you want to build other characters and karts for Bowser to race in his muscle car, here’s a list of the currently available Lego Mario Kart sets. Just know that’s the muscle car is larger than the karts.

Lego Super Mario Starter Courses:

If you need one of the Interactive Lego Super Mario figures, check out the deals on the Adventures with Mario Starter Sets below. Lego launched an Interactive Lego Mario Kart Starter Set on August 1 for $55, but you can get last year’s starter sets for around $40 each at Amazon.

$41 (was $55)

The Soda Jungle Maker Set offers a bunch of unique components that can be used to add some colorful variety to your Lego Mario courses. This is one of the coolest expansion sets that focuses on a collection of smaller builds rather than one centerpiece item. Soda Jungle Maker has been on sale for as low as $35, but at the moment it’s $41.

The 598-piece set comes a trio of Lego Mario figures, all of whom are part of Bowser’s crew: Piranha Plant, Wiggler, and Pink Shy Guy. Along with the figures, you’ll piece together various environmental trappings from New Super Mario Bros. U’s Soda Jungle world. Notable accessories include a Special Pipe and the Customization Machine, which is paired with two Question Blocks and interacts with the Lego Mario starter set figures. Multiple other Action Tags are scattered throughout, making this a great choice for youngsters who enjoy building and playing Mario levels in Lego form.

If you love Piranha Plants, check out the 540-piece Lego Super Mario Piranha Plant. This is one of a handful of Lego’s Nintendo-themed display models for adults, and you can save 20% at Amazon.

$11.24 (was $15)

Goombas’ Playground is the smallest of the three newly retired Lego Super Mario building sets. This 173-piece build comes with three Goombas, each of which has a different facial expression, along with a seesaw and hollow tree trunk with perches. You can snag this $15 kit for $11.24 while supplies last.

Nintendo fans have a very exciting upcoming Lego set to add to their holiday wishlists. On October 1, Lego will release a near 1:1 replica of the original Game Boy. The 421-piece display model for adults comes with two buildable game cartridges, three lenticular screens, and a pair of stands to display your Game Boy and one of the game carts–the other game can be stored in the handheld’s cartridge slot. Preorders have sold out at multiple retailers, but you can currently order the Lego Game Boy at a few stores, including Amazon and Walmart, for $60.

Game-changing GTA 6 car feature could make crashes way more realistic

by admin June 20, 2025

GTA 6 fans have spotted a huge potential gameplay feature hiding in plain sight that would make the game even more realistic.

Rockstar Games’ long-awaited GTA 6 is finally scheduled to release on May 26, 2026 and fans are still combing over every detail from the first two trailers and screenshots for more details.

Although Rockstar hasn’t officially revealed any gameplay details yet, leaked footage and inside information have indicated that this will be by far the most realistic GTA game yet.

Article continues after ad

A new example of this was found in late June when players reviewed some of the new screenshots and made a big discovery.

GTA 6 could have the most realistic crashes ever

In one of the images, character Raul Bautista is seen driving a car. The vehicle contains a diagram indicating that it has airbags.

This may seem like a mundane addition to the image or just Rockstar having an impeccable attention to detail, but if cars now have airbags in GTA 6, it will change how crashes work.

In prior games, players would get thrown from their cars and into the streets, but this would completely change that and could have even deeper gameplay implications.

“This is actually a moderately interesting detail that I wonder if it will be in direct relation to how you play the game,” one player said.

“It would have to be only used for a high-impact crash for sure,” another chimed in. “As they are supposed to be bringing more realistic car destruction, the standard un-customised cars should naturally be much more brittle compared to GTAV anyway.”

“I was playing GTA V yesterday, and got into a big accident and flew out the window. I thought it’d be nice to be able to put on a seatbelt the same way you put your helmet on while on a bike. Would also be cool for harder collisions to cause the airbag to go off,” echoed someone else.

Rockstar Games

“I think we are about to see the most realistic crashes ever seen in a Rockstar title,” commented another user.

With GTA 6 releasing in just under a year, Rockstar has ample time to showcase all the new gameplay features VI will have to offer, but if this is a sign of things to come, the next GTA is going to be even more advanced than many once thought.

Cyberpunk 2077’s flying car modder has removed the game’s max speed limit and I may soon be involved in a 1222mph mid-air fender bender

by admin June 18, 2025

If you’re reading this, it may be too late. The mysterious genius behind Cyberpunk 2077’s most popular flying car mod has just released its first update in a good while, alongside a fresh work that removes the speed limits the game applies to all of its vehicles.

It looks like the perfect recipe for my next trip to Night City ending with an shattered engine block wedged halfway up a skyscraper, and Keanny Reevhand standing next to it tutting.

If you’re not familiar with Let There Be Flight by modder Jack Humbert, it arrived in September 2022, swapped the wheels of Cyberpunk’s cars for working thrusters, and left plenty of folks wondering why dystopian futures are ever allowed to omit flying cars. After all, when the world’s gone down the corporate tubes, surely you need to balance that out by letting people dream of drifting a futuristic VW golf ten thousand feet above the pavement?

I digress. Humbert’s just updated Let There Be Flight for the first time since June 2023, which is welcome news since folks have reported issues getting it to run with the game’s more recent patches.

“I’ve been rewriting some parts of LTBF to better use in-game systems, and this has allowed for better state control of flight and input contexts, enabling native vehicle combat (handheld and vehicle-mounted) while flying,” he wrote, “This should also make it more compatible with other vehicle-based mods (in theory), but I have yet to try things out on a wide scale…I have lots of ideas that I’d like to see implemented, and will try to get them finished to a point that you can at least try them out here.”

Nice, but here’s the kicker, alongside this update Humbert’s uploaded his first new mod since 2022. It’s Vehicle Speed Unlimiter and gets rid of the automatic limits the game puts on car movement speed – as far as I can tell, the ones you’d bang your head against even if you modded or file tweaked a car to go beyond its base top speed value.

The mod’s description says speeds above 400mph will be possible, and to make clear what that’s done, a user with the handle Oranje3 has said they’ve already used it to get a modded car up to 1222mph, and posted a screenshot to back that assertion up.

Needless to say, I now have a new mission in life. I’ll have to find the time to get my Cyberpunk load order back to working order since I’ve not done a playthrough in a little bit, but if I do soon, I’ll definitely be trying to better that speed. In a flying car too, assuming that doesn’t prove a barrier to engaging warp speed.

If you want to try Vehicle Speed Unlimiter, you’ll need to grab RED4ext, while Let There Be Flight requires that plus ArchiveXL, Input Loader, Mod Settings, Redscript, and TweakXL.

Twitch star RaKai under fire for staring at his phone & almost crashing car on stream

by admin June 15, 2025

RaKai is one of Twitch’s rising stars. The 16 year-old has quickly become one of the biggest creators on the platform. However, he’s been steeped in controversy after streaming himself almost crashing his car while staring at his phone.

Several clips have emerged from the livestream, displaying RaKai staring directly at his phone while driving down a rainy road. One of them shows him panicking and trying to get the wheel back in control after almost veering off the road.

Article continues after ad

Viewers are infuriated, with several posts being made requesting Twitch ban the streamer for reckless driving, citing that driving while distracted is a direct violation of the Twitch TOS.

Rakai remains unbanned after almost crashing on stream

Averaging at over 20k viewers a stream, 2xRaKai is one of the biggest streamers on Twitch. He came up partially by interacting with Kai Cenat, and his Streamer University even was a huge boost in viewership for the young streamer.

However, fans of RaKai have been pushing back on him after he willingly stared at his phone while driving.

The clip above is one example, with it going viral on Reddit with some negative reactions from viewers.

“Hope he doesn’t kill anyone. I’ve lost a friend to rain + distracted driver,” said one user.

“This clip is egregious. You literally just made a new rule about driving and streaming. Here’s your first big test,” said another.

A second clip shows him staring at his phone for 7 seconds straight, putting it directly in front of his face and blocking the road.

He suddenly slammed on the brakes before coming to a full stop to read his phone safely.

There is precedent for streamers getting banned for reckless driving, with ExtraEmily getting booted off the platform after she ran a red light on stream. She apologized for it and was allowed back on Twitch a short time later.

It remains to be seen whether or not Twitch decides to ban RaKai after this controversy.

While LA Burns Waymos, London Teases Driverless Car Pilot

by admin June 10, 2025

In brief

  • UK government plans to trial self-driving taxis in London starting with limited autonomous vehicles on specific roads, aiming for full commercial launch by late 2027.
  • Major companies Uber and Wayve have partnered to test the service, with customers able to book rides through the Uber app once trials begin.
  • Officials emphasize rigorous safety testing will be prioritized, acknowledging London’s complex medieval street layout poses greater challenges than previous test cities.

The UK government has announced plans to begin trialling self-driving taxi services on its roads, just as there’s been blow-back in LA where several self-driving Waymo cars were torched.

Several vehicles were set on fire Sunday during a protest against the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids in Los Angeles and the Trump administration’s deployment of National Guard into the region.

The initial plan in London, as put forward by the Department for Transport, involves a limited number of autonomous vehicles on specific roads—including in the capital city.

The government aims to allow companies to fully launch autonomous taxi services in the second half of 2027.

Officials have been clear that they will prioritize safety over all else.

“We won’t allow this technology to be deployed on our roads unless we are confident that really rigorous safety tests have been met,” said Transport Department spokesperson Marco Barbato.

Major taxi firms have announced interest right away. U.S. firm Uber and UK based Wayve have both said they would be interested in becoming partners so they can jointly take advantage of the plan to launch self-driving vehicles on London roads.

Wayve CEO Alex Kendall has acknowledged that testing in a busy city like London will be a challenging environment.

“This is not Phoenix, Arizona,” he said, referring to the city where the company initially launched. “it’s not a grid-like city in the desert where the sun always shines. London is a medieval, structured environment. It has seven times more jaywalkers than San Francisco.”

Early tests, he said, will enable the company to show it is “scalable and trusted”.

The partnership will allow customers to use the Uber app to call Wayve cars. This is already how the setup is working with Uber and Google’s Waymo in Austin, Texas and with Uber and Hyundai-linked Motional in Las Vegas.

“Our vision is to make autonomy a safe and reliable option for riders everywhere, and this trial in London brings that future closer to reality,” said Uber President and COO Andrew Macdonald.

This won’t be the first time tech startups have hit London streets. The city has already seen Israeli company Mobileye test its collision tech on buses. And UK-based autonomous vehicle manufacturer Oxa has trialled its tech in Oxford and London.

The Best Car Vacuums (2025), Tested and Reviewed

by admin June 6, 2025

Honorable Mentions

Bissell AeroSlim Handheld Vacuum for $41: This is a great little budget vacuum and a fine detail cleaning option. It doesn’t have as many attachments as the Airify Pro V3 and it’s battery life isn’t as long (the AeroSlim only lasts up to 12 minutes), but it’s a good option if you’re on a budget and are mostly fighting small messes.

Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Hand Vacuum for $80: This is our favorite handheld vacuum for cleaning pet hair. If you want something really designed for pet hair over other messes, this is a good pick.

Dyson Humdinger for $290: This is another great Dyson handheld. The Car+Boat is more powerful, and the Humdinger costs more, so it makes more sense to go with the Car+Boat. But the Humdinger is still a great hand vacuum to use both in and out of the car.

Shark Ultraclone Pet Pro Plus Handheld Vacuum for $80: This vacuum is made for pets, but it’s great for car messes from kids, too. I preferred the picks in this guide, but this one is still a solid handheld vacuum for cars and indoors alike.

What to Look or in a Car Vacuum

For this story, we focused on cordless handheld vacuums that would be easy to maneuver inside cars. While you could use a corded design, power outlets aren’t always easily accessible in garages or driveways, and can make the task of vacuuming your car seem more difficult. It’s especially limiting to move around with a corded vacuum holding you back, which is why we prefer handheld vacs.

A great car vacuum cleaner isn’t just portable, it’s also powerful. We tested to see whether the suction power was enough to clean your usual car messes like dirt, sand, and larger debris. You don’t need a ton of attachments for car cleaning, but you’ll want one that at least has a crevice tool to get between the seats, and if you have a pet there are models that offer pet brush attachments, too. It’s not always easy to switch out attachments in the midst of car cleaning, though, so I don’t recommend you buy a model just because it has a half dozen attachments you could use.

All of the models we recommend have rechargeable batteries, though the charger style can vary from each model. Some work like power tools, with the battery popping off to be charged, while others simply plug into a cord to recharge. Each pick has details on its charger style.

Where Should You Store a Car Vacuum?

Should a car vacuum live in your car? I’m certainly tempted to keep the adorable Worx hanging out in my trunk for quick cleans on the go. But vacuums aren’t designed for outdoor use or for storage in the extreme temperatures that cars can reach when sitting in the sun or in a snowy climate. It’s best to keep your car vacuum in your garage or house. Especially since you need to charge these small vacuums often.

What About Stick Vacuums?

Do you really need a special car vacuum, or can other vacuum cleaners work? Your classic upright vacuums can work, but they’re frustrating to lug into the garage and connect to power and then unwind the hose to use in your car. If you wanted to buy one vacuum to do it all, I’d recommend a cordless stick vacuum, since those usually break down into a handheld vacuum. Check out our guide to the Best Cordless Vacuums for more suggestions.

Central African Republic to tokenize over 1,700 hectares of land through CAR meme coin

by admin May 30, 2025

Central African Republic President Faustin-Archange Touadéra announced that in June, over 1,700 hectares of land in the region will be tokenized through the Solana-based meme coin CAR. The meme coin has long sparked suspicion among traders.

On May 30, Touadéra posted on his X account that he has signed a presidential decree that would tokenize over 1,700 hectares of land and make it available on the Solana (SOL) chain by June 2025. The land concession would be available online for traders across the globe by purchasing the meme coin CAR, which Touadéra dubs the “national meme coin” of the state.

The land is reportedly located in the western area of Bosongo village, 45 kilometers west of the nation’s capital, Bangui. The presidential decree refers to the country’s mining code and its 2023 laws regarding the tokenization of natural resources. This implies that the land may be intended for mining purposes.

After Touadéra’s announcement on X, the Central African Republic meme coin jumped more than 20% based on data from CoinGecko. CAR’s daily trading volume also rose by 31.9% compared to the previous day of trading, indicating a rise in trading activity. The Solana-based token has seen major gains in the past few weeks, rising by more than 182% in the past week and more than 216% in the past month.

Price chart for the meme coin CAR in the past 24 hours, May 30, 2025 | Source: CoinGecko

The token is currently up by 10.7% and is trading hands at $0.05. It has accumulated a market cap of $53 million since its launch last February. The token’s market cap briefly soared past $884 million, before crashing not long after the launch.

Last month, the top 100 holders of CAR were invited to Dubai to meet with Central African Republic President Touadéra, in a move similar to Donald Trump’s invite-only dinner for the top 220 holders of the official TRUMP (TRUMP) meme coin on May 22.

Controversy surrounding Central African Republic’s meme coin

On Feb. 10, the Central African Republic announced the launch of its own meme coin, CAR. President Faustin-Archange Touadéra called the project an experiment designed to “unite people, support national development, and put the Central African Republic on the world stage in a unique way.”

After a meteoric rise to an all-time high of $0.775 on launch day, the meme coin crashed. Its market cap fell more than 50% from $884 million to $460 million. The drop was fueled by deepfake allegations, website and account suspensions, and questionable domain registrations which made traders suspicious of whether the project was actually trustworthy.

Several AI detection tools flagged the president’s announcement video as AI-generated. Moreover, the meme coin’s official X account was suspended suddenly without explanation. The president then went on X to clarify that his team was working to restore the account as soon as possible.

Yokai Ryujin, founder of UnrevealedXYZ, also pointed out that the meme coin’s registered domain was registered on a budget-friendly domain provider only three days before the announcement. According to Ryujin, this was odd considering the token is supposed to be a government-backed initiative.

Shortly after, Namecheap suspended the website, confirming that it had been flagged as an “abusive service.”

At press time, the president’s post included a link to a website which contains the description for the meme coin and its purpose. The site also contained the coin’s address and the exchanges that list it.

“Born as a meme, built for utility. $CAR started as a presidential meme coin —now we’re driving toward real-world impact,” wrote the website’s description.

Car HUDs Are Bad. Jaguar Land Rover Is Testing Tech to Change That

by admin May 27, 2025

New technology doesn’t arrive fully formed, I remind myself as I strap on a pirate’s eye patch, then place a heavily modified bicycle helmet onto my head. It isn’t the most glamorous getup. But here, in a small office on an unassuming business park on the outskirts of Cambridge, England, it could be the foundations of something quite remarkable

I’m here to meet AllFocal Optics, a startup that has patented a new type of nanophotonic lens with the power to transform everything from virtual and augmented reality headsets, to night vision goggles, binoculars, cameras and heads-up displays (HUDs). It’s the latter that piqued my interest, after hearing Jaguar Land Rover has embarked on a research project to discover whether the lens can improve car HUDs and, with it, road safety.

Its makers also claim—and prove, with the aforementioned helmet, as well as a butchered Meta Quest 3—that the lens can produce a digital image with perfect clarity, even if you have poor vision, without the need for glasses.

Founded in 2022 as Lark but since renamed AllFocal Optics, the company is headed by former Royal Academy of Engineering enterprise fellow Dr Pawan Shrestha. Dr Ash Saulsbury, former technology VP at Microsoft and former Meta AR boss, joined late last year as chair, around the same time that the startup secured a $5.3m funding round.

AllFocal Optics says the lens it has created offers two technological breakthroughs. Firstly, when used in an AR or VR headset, like the Apple Vision Pro or Meta Quest 3, it claims to provide crystal-clear vision to the wearer, even if they need glasses but aren’t wearing them.

Even if you require a significant prescription, or suffer from astigmatism, its makers say the lens beams a clear picture directly to your retina, bypassing the needs for glasses entirely. In theory, two people could share the same AR or VR headset, even if one has 20/20 vision and the other needs very strong corrective lenses.

I tried several prototypes of the lens and, yes, it works. I don’t wear glasses, so the first demonstration—viewing digital text beamed from a laptop to an augmented reality headset—didn’t seem overly impressive. But then I repeated the test while wearing glasses so strong I couldn’t see my own hands in front of my face, and yet the digital text was still pin-sharp. It’s the sort of tech demo that takes a moment to truly appreciate, but when your brain finally connects the dots it feels like magic.

Not only does the lens sidestep vision impairment, it also produces an image far sharper than the likes of Microsoft’s HoloLens (may it rest in peace), despite the input being the same 720p resolution. With the prototype lens it was easy—and this is where the eyepatch comes in—to read a chunk of text where half was augmented and half was printed on a sheet of paper, but with the HoloLens this was impossible. The augmented half of each line was a blurred mess.

Looking Sharp

What’s more, the text remains sharp regardless of what your eyes are actually focused on. I experimented with focusing first on my hand just a few inches from my face, then on the other side of the room, yet the augmented text stayed in focus. Interestingly, its size adjusts depending on where you’re looking; I could make it appear as a tiny font on my finger, or as poster-sized writing on the opposite wall. It’s also possible to look through it, focusing on the middle-distance as you might while driving, but no matter what your eyes and their lenses do, the digital text remains sharp and legible.

A man has been arrested after a car collided with pedestrians in Liverpool city centre during Liverpool Football Club’s Premier League victory parade on Monday.

Merseyside Police confirmed that the man arrested is a 53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool area. Police have not confirmed whether the man arrested was the driver of the car.

Several police cars and ambulances are responding to the incident on Water Street, while an air ambulance also arrived at the scene.

In a statement, Merseyside Police said: “We are currently dealing with reports of a road traffic collision in Liverpool city centre.

“We were contacted at just after 6pm [BST] today, Monday 26 May, following reports a car had been in a collision with a number of pedestrians on Water Street.

“The car stopped at the scene and a male has been detained. Emergency services are currently on the scene.

“We will issue more updates as we have them.”

No information on the number of injuries was provided.

In a later statement, they said: “We would ask people not to speculate on the circumstances surrounding tonight’s incident on Water Street in Liverpool city centre. We can confirm the man arrested is a 53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool area.”

Liverpool issued a statement, in which they said: “We are in direct contact with Merseyside Police regarding the incident on Water Street which happened towards the end of the trophy parade earlier this evening.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by this serious incident.

“We will continue to offer our full support to the emergency services and local authorities who are dealing with this incident.”

The incident came as hundreds of thousands of supporters lined the city’s streets to celebrate Liverpool winning the Premier League title.

Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, said in a statement: “The scenes in Liverpool are appalling — my thoughts are with all those injured or affected.

“I want to thank the police and emergency services for their swift and ongoing response to this shocking incident.

“I’m being kept updated on development,” he added, “and ask that we give the police the space they need to investigate.”
