Blizzard brings Diablo 4’s Developer Update livestreams back from the dead to reveal Season 10

Things haven’t been going well in the world of Diablo 4. Everyone pretty much knows that, but it’s especially weird when Blizzard can be seen has having given up itself. In August, the studio took the very unusual step of announcing the game’s next PTR (Public Test Realm) via… a Discord Q&A.

That’s the 2.4.0. PTR, containing much of the Season of Infernal Chaos content, which would typically be enough of a big deal to warrant multiple developer livestreams. The PTR has come and gone, and we’re now under two weeks away from the start of the game’s next season, so now we’re getting a developer livestream.

Blizzard announced that the next Developer Update livestream will take place on Tuesday, September 16. You’ll note that this is not the less structured, more casual Campfire Chat, which is about as good of a sign as we can get.

The show kicks off at the usual times – 11am PT, 2pm ET, 7pm UK – and will serve as the last preview of Season of Infernal Chaos, Diablo 4’s 10th season. We expect the new season to kick off September 23, so there’s just about enough time to start building excitement.

As always, there’s going to be a panel of developers who will guide us through the big new content additions, and what’s changed from the season’s 2.4.0. PTR (held in August). The livestream announcement namedropped Chaos Armor, Chaos Rifts and the updated Infernal Hordes among the topics we can expect to see discussed.

There’s going to be a Q&A segment at the end, too, as usual. What is changing is the format of the livestream itself. Blizzard didn’t say what form it’s going to now take, so we’ll have to tune in next week to see for ourselves.

We’ll be able to do so via Diablo’s official channels on YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, and TikTok. And, Blizzard is throwing in a free cosmetic – the Fusillader’s Arc Rogue Crossbow – if you watch any Diablo 4 livestream on Twitch for 30 minutes while the Developer Update is live.

Season 10 is the last announced season on the Diablo 4 2025 roadmap, which was revealed in April. It’s going to take us all the way to December, so that’s pretty much it for Diablo 4 seasons in 2025. Apart from the next IP collaboration taking place in the season, Blizzard really has its work cut out for it to make a case for Infernal Chaos, because Season 9 has been a major letdown.

Kraken brings tokenized U.S. stocks to the EU via xStocks

Kraken users based in the EU can now gain access to tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs on-chain through the release of xStocks. The offerings are powered by Backed.

Kraken’s EU-based clients can now trade tokenized U.S. stocks and Exchange Traded Funds or ETFs as part of the global phased roll-out of xStocks. The expansion builds upon a recent phased launch of over 60 tokenized assets available across more than 140 countries.

This means that EU investors will be able to trade stocks like Tesla, NVIDIA, Strategy, Circle, Google, Apple and more through the Kraken app.

Powered by Backed, xStocks are tokenized stocks on a blockchain that represent shares of traditional companies or ETFs. They are backed 1:1 by the underlying shares held by a custodian and designed to mirror the value of traditional stocks.

The on-chain product offers benefits like around-the-clock trading, global accessibility, fractional ownership, and integration with Decentralized Finance protocols, without the need for traditional brokerage account. In fact, EU traders can immediately access xStocks through the Kraken app.

Historically, traders in the EU attempting to gain exposure to U.S. markets often face hurdles that make it difficult to participate. With traditional markets, EU investors are have to deal with limited or partial exposure to U.S. markets, friction from currency rates and cross-border transfers. Moreover, they experience delays due to different market hours as well as difficulty withdrawing and transferring equities between platforms.

By placing U.S. stocks on-chain, Kraken hopes to remove those barriers by offering a flexible and globally accessible way to gain exposure to U.S markets. xStocks can track the price of U.S. equities without the need for traditional brokers or third parties. EU investors can trade in tokenized certificates, enabling them to control assets and move them freely across platforms.

In addition, traders in the EU can use xStocks across DeFi protocols in the form of financial building blocks. Unlike traditional markets that are restricted by the operational hours, xStocks are available for 24 hours within the five weekdays on Kraken.

Initially, xStocks were first deployed as SPL tokens on the Solana blockchain. Now, Kraken claims that it has plans to expand xStocks token support to include BEP-20 on the Ethereum mainnet. Users will be granted the choice to either interact with xStocks through Solana (SOL) or Ethereum (ETH).

Overtime, Kraken plans to expand support for xStocks by integrating with more blockchains, including Ink and other chains in the future.

Kraken’s Global Head of Consumer, Mark Greenberg, called expanding access to xStocks for customers in the European Union as a “natural next step” for the platform because of its established presence there.

“For too long, it’s been unnecessarily challenging to gain exposure to U.S. markets, and with xStocks we’re removing many of the barriers,” said Greenberg.

According to data from Dune analytics, xStocks has reached more than $3.6 billion in cumulative trading volume since its launch on June 30 this year. This figure accounts for volumes across centralized and decentralized exchanges, including Raydium and Kraken.

So far, the largest share of volume comes from TSLAx, NVDAx, MSTRx and CRCLx, tracking tracking Tesla, NVIDIA and Circle stocks respectively.

Most recently, xStocks made up roughly 58% of all tokenized stock trading in mid-August this year. In fact, Solana alone held a majority share of the xStocks market value at $46 million out of $86 million, as reported by crypto.news.

Fortnite Has A Rare Double XP Weekend And Brings Back A Fan-Favorite Weapon

XP has been a regular topic of conversation among Fortnite players during Chapter 6 Season 4, as Epic Games has apparently slashed how quickly most folks will level up just by playing normally. Since this season is a month longer than last season was, it’s not a particularly surprising change. Fortunately, Fortnite is easing the burden a bit by offering double XP all weekend. The boost will last until Monday, September 8 at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET.

Double XP weekends aren’t a very common thing in Fortnite. Typically, when Epic wants to help players gain XP faster, it adds limited-time event quests with simple objectives that are easy to complete in Battle Royale, Reload, or whatever other mode the company wants to promote. Fortnite’s most recent double XP weekend event like this one happened back in March.

The double XP is only one of the things Epic changed for this weekend. Blitz Royale is having a Golden Llamageddon event, where the map will be filled with special gold llama pinatas full of top-tier loot. And in Battle Royale, they’ve unvaulted several old weapons, including the grapple glove, the Boom Bow, the original pump shotgun, and the beloved Holo Twister rifle that was everybody’s favorite gun during the first two seasons of Chapter 6.

The Holo Twister assault rifle is back in Battle Royale this weekend.

And over in Fortnite OG, the path is diverging from how it went in Chapter 1 Season 5 the first time, with the giant purple cube Kevin from back in the day being replaced by the giant red cube Revin.

All these shenanigans are likely to come to an end at the same time double XP does on Monday, so there’s only a limited amount of time to take part before things go back to normal.

Ripple Brings $700M RLUSD to Africa With Insurance Pilots for Climate Relief

Ripple, the payments-focused digital asset firm, is expanding its U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin Ripple USD (RLUSD) to institutions in Africa through new partnerships with Chipper Cash, VALR and Yellow Card distributors.

The rollout aims to give businesses across the continent access to a stable, digital dollar designed for cross-border payments, liquidity and on-chain settlement, the company said in a Wednesday press release.

RLUSD, launched in late 2024 and issued by a New York trust company regulated by the state’s Department of Financial Services, has grown to over $700 million in supply on Ethereum ETH$4,409.72 and the XRP Ledger (XRP), RWA.xyz data shows. The token could be used for treasury operations, remittances and as collateral for trading tokenized assets such as commodities or securities, Ripple said.

Ripple’s expansion comes as stablecoins emerge as a cheaper and faster alternative to traditional payment channels, especially in emerging markets where access to reliable currencies and banking is often limited. In parts of Africa, residents already use digital dollars like USDT for savings or cross-border transfers, a report by Castle Island and Brevan Howard said. RLUSD’s entry introduces a regulated alternative aimed squarely at institutional users, a segment that faces challenges accessing stable liquidity in local currencies.

In parallel, Mercy Corps Ventures is testing RLUSD in climate risk insurance initiatives in Kenya. In one trial, the stablecoin funds are released automatically when satellite data signals drought conditions. Another pilot underpins rainfall insurance, with payouts triggered by extreme weather events.

San Francisco-headquartered blockchain firm Ripple has announced that it is bringing its Ripple USD (RLUSD) stablecoin to Africa. 

The expansion has been achieved by securing partnerships with three major African players, including payments app Chipper Cash, cryptocurrency exchange VALR, and payments company Yellow Card.

Africa has long been a major cryptocurrency hub, with local economies suffering from currency volatility as well as capital controls. Ripple has also noted that local residents have to deal with expensive cross-border payments. 

In Kenya, the stablecoin is also gaining traction when it comes to drought insurance, with a similar pilot also covering rainfall insurance. 

RLUSD’s global expansion 

RLUSD, which was launched last week, became available on various exchanges that span multiple regions. Such exchanges include Bitso and CoinMENA. 

As reported by U.Today, the RLUSD token recently secured regulatory approval from the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA).

According to CoinGecko data, the market capitalization of RLUSD recently surpassed the $700 million level.

Tether Brings USDT to Bitcoin Via Layer-2 Network RGB

Stablecoin giant Tether is pushing further into the Bitcoin ecosystem, announcing on Thursday that it would make its USDT token available on the largest crypto network via the RGB protocol.

RGB allows users to issue assets on the blockchain, opening “the door for stablecoins to exist natively on Bitcoin,” Tether said in a press release. 

“For Tether, this means USDT can be transacted directly on the world’s most secure and decentralized network, bringing fast, private, and lightweight payments to billions of people globally,” the company said in the release. 



The announcement comes nearly eight months after Tether said that it was making its main crypto product available on the Bitcoin blockchain via Lightning, a Layer 2 network that aims to speed up transactions. That integration marked a significant milestone for both Tether and Bitcoin, two dominant forces in crypto that had yet to combine forces.

It also follows positive developments for stablecoins, most notably the passage of the Genius Act that sets U.S. guidelines for the tokens. U.K. bank Standard Chartered has predicted that stablecoins’ market capitalization will triple by the end of 2026. 

RGB (Real Good Bitcoin) uses smart contracts allowing functions to be executed on a blockchain and contain code that powers autonomous crypto applications, meme coins, and more. They have been available on other crypto networks, like Ethereum.

Tether said RGB was designed to make Bitcoin foundational for daily transactions. Users will be able to keep their stablecoins and BTC in the same wallet and make transactions offline. 

“Bitcoin deserves a stablecoin that feels truly native, lightweight, private, and scalable,” said Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether. “With RGB, USD₮ gains a powerful new pathway on Bitcoin, reinforcing our belief in Bitcoin as the foundation of a freer financial future.”

El Salvador-based Tether mints USDT, the fourth-biggest cryptocurrency with a more than $167 billion  market cap and generally the most-traded digital asset. Most stablecoins are pegged to the value of the U.S. dollar.

Tether keeps a vault of dollar reserves. 

Crypto traders use stablecoins to execute transactions seamlessly without using a traditional bank. 

But Tether says USDT is now also used by people in emerging markets with weak currencies who want exposure to U.S. dollars.

Burger King brings back Cini Minis nationwide after 13 years

Burger King has announced the return of its fan-favorite Cini Minis after more than a decade off menus. The bite-sized cinnamon rolls, which come with a dipping cup of icing, are available nationwide for a limited time.

The item was first introduced in 1998 and remained a popular breakfast option until it was discontinued in 2012. Burger King briefly brought them back through a Grubhub promotion in 2018 and later tested their return in select Florida locations in 2024.

Now, the chain has confirmed that Cini Minis are back nationwide as a standalone purchase and part of new meal bundles. Customers can buy them a la carte for around $2.99 or as part of Burger King’s $5 Duo and $7 Trio deals.

Cini Minis will be a limited time item

Burger King has not announced how long Cini Minis will remain on menus, but the company confirmed the comeback is temporary. The return follows similar moves by fast food chains reintroducing discontinued items to meet customer demand and capitalize on nostalgia.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a highly requested item return to menus at a fast food restaurant in 2025.

McDonald’s brought back chicken strips in May in preparation for July’s Snack Wrap release, which took the internet by storm and overwhelmed delivery services in the process.

On top of that, KFC brought its potato wedges back for a limited time earlier in August, years after it replaced them with its new fries.

Webull Brings Back Crypto Trading for U.S. Users

Webull Corp. is bringing back cryptocurrency trading for customers in the United States after stopping the service in 2023 while attempting to go public. The company said trading is now live for all American customers.

The firm first introduced this service a few years ago but it was removed when rules and regulations around crypto became a problem, according to a report from Bloomberg.

During that time, the company launched Webull Pay as a separate app to handle digital assets, but now everything has been combined back into one place. This means customers can use the main Webull app to manage their accounts and trade crypto, stocks, and options all together.

Webull said the new system will allow trading at any time, day or night. More than 50 different digital assets are included, such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. 

Anthony Denier, the U.S. Chief Executive Officer and Group President at Webull, said the change was important for customer choice. “When we removed crypto from the platform, it was against what our customers were asking for,” Denier said. He also called the relaunch part of Webull’s “full-throttle” move into digital finance, saying the update helps customers “manage their wealth and manage their growth.”

Denier also pointed out that the rules around crypto in Washington have shifted. Under former President Joe Biden, regulations and reviews were tougher, which made it difficult for companies like Webull. But with President Donald Trump now in office, Denier said there is more support and clearer rules for digital assets.

“Now, with a new administration prioritizing regulatory clarity and adoption of digital assets, the environment has never been more favorable,” he explained.

Stephen Yip, the CEO of Webull Pay, also gave his view on the update. “Cryptocurrencies have become an essential part of today’s diversified investment strategies,” Yip said, adding that the company wants to make the process simple and unified.

The relaunch follows the company’s decision to bring Webull Pay back into the main corporate group, making it a direct part of the company again. The was approved by its board and shareholders and is meant to support more compliant services.

Webull serves more than 24 million people across 14 different markets, and the company said it plans to bring crypto trading to more countries soon after its successful start in Brazil.

John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando brings a refreshing new perspective to a well worn genre

Plenty of Left 4 Dead-style co-op hoard shooters have come and gone throughout the years. This includes the quickly forgotten spiritual successor to the Left 4 Dead series, Back 4 Blood and Remedy’s recently released attempt, FBC Firebreak. Remember FBC Firebreak? Anyone? Anyone? That one might still find an audience after planned updates, but it’s facing an uphill struggle.

John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando

One of my favourite Left4Deadalikes (which probably isn’t a word but I’m making it one now) was Saber Interactive’s World War Z, thanks mainly to the sheer volume of zombies it throws at players during the span of a mission and the visual spectacles that its writhing piles of undead created. Saber followed that game up with another Left4Deadalike of sorts in Space Marine 2, and now it’s is back with John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, a game that takes everything learned from those last two games, adds it to a semi-open world and then crams in a very unexpected but actually pretty cool idea from another game in its back catalogue; MudRunner.

Having the actual freedom to explore in a game type that normally involves fairly linear level structures feels really refreshing. In Toxic Commando’s tale of four infected mercenaries and their fight against the minions of a recently awakened Sludge God, you’re free to wander or drive around each map to your heart’s content before kicking off each level’s climactic firefight. Just like in Left 4 Dead, there are multiple acts here, each split into chapters but, instead of just going from point A to point B and occasionally having a few big battles at choke points along the way, Toxic Commando opens things up and allows you to plot your own path. Do you gamble coming into contact with multiple hordes of roamers in an attempt to hoover up every last bit of loot from the many points of interest on the map, or do you just make a beeline for the main missions but risk getting there with fewer tools and resources to defend yourself with?

Obviously most of your time will revolve around shooting various types of undead enemies, ones that loosely follow the established Left 4 Dead formula of explody one, grabby one, poisoney one etc etc, but there isn’t exactly a shortage of things to do between these firefights. There are giant flailing tentacles popping up all over the place that need to be shot before they squirm away again, there are small mini games for hacking and repairing equipment, little out of the way stash spots to discover, optional side missions to undertake, and much more.

One of the main activities you’ll be doing, though, is running down masses of squishy zombies with a car. Vehi-killing zombies in video games is always a joy and it feels especially great to do in Toxic Commando. Often there are hundreds of ghouls on screen at one time and grinding these clusters of creepers under your wheels as your teammates lean out of the windows to mow down the stragglers is pure 80s action movie excess. I loved these moments! There are multiple vehicles to find too, each with their own special abilities, like the ambulance that can give a healing effect or the self destructing police car that acts a bit like Left 4 Dead’s noise emitting pipe bombs.

The standout vehicle, in my opinion, has to be the HMV which, if you live in the UK, is an all terrain vehicle and not a struggling franchise of music stores that now sells plastic collectibles and expensive rucksacks. The HMV comes complete with a mounted machine gun and a winch, and this winch ties in neatly to the other big inspiration for Toxic Commando: MudRunner. You see, throughout the maps there are many pools of mud and sludge dotted around that will slow your progress as you struggle to spin your tyres through the blockage. All while scores of ghouls descend upon you. Shoot the winch at a nearby tree or piece of scenery, however, and you’ll be able to pull the HMV out of the mud trap, or up a steep, slippery hill and, hopefully, out of trouble. Plus the way the mud reacts and deforms according to the path your wheels take is lovely. It’s the best that mud has looked since… well, Mudrunner, I guess.

I’ve already touched on the hordes, and the fact that there’s lots of them, but I’m never not impressed when I’m confronted by the sight of thousands of bodies pouring over a piece of scenery and running, screaming, in my direction. Despite the open world nature of Toxic Commando’s levels, there are still plenty of moments like this to look forward to on each map, although if they’re part of a story mission you’re often given a little bit of prep time to shore up your defenses before they kick off.

You can defend these story areas in multiple ways too. Using special weapons like rail guns and grenade launchers for example, or mounted turrets and traps, but each of these will need a rare resource called Scrap to unlock. Scrap can only be found by exploring the map, hence the risk reward exploration I mentioned earlier, so if you don’t get any, those special weapons crates and those turrets will stay locked down. Each Toxic Commando also has a special power, and in the case of Walter, the character I played as, he shot big blue bolts of energy from his hands.

All of this ties into the very best bit about Toxic Commando and that’s – the explosions! These are best seen during those high body count, story mission battles where limbs and torsos go flying through the air in bloody arcs as you shoot a handily placed red barrel, thunk a grenade out of a launcher, or fire off a palm-sized piece of plasma into the middle of a writhing mass of mutants. It’s just utterly glorious carnage. The type of over the top, comic booky splattery gore that you’d see in something like The Boys, and I love it. Point, shoot, make the bad things ‘splode. It’s the signature ingredient that every good horde shooter needs and it’s something that Toxic Commando excels in.

It’s not all perfect though. One of the many reasons why John Carpenter movies are so beloved is due to the fact that they often have highly memorable lead characters (hello in particular to any played by Kurt Russell). Which is why it’s a bit of a shame that the Toxic Commandos themselves are a bit generic and bland, in both looks and personality. Sure they chatter away to each other during moments of downtime, just like Left 4 Dead’s characters, but the lines they utter border on the repetitive and annoying, rather than the meme worthy like Louis’ “grabbin’ pills!”. Seriously, Walter uttered the phrase “I’m liking this” at least once per minute during my hands on, which is definitely enough to aggravate to the point that I think I’ll be hearing it in my dreams tonight.

I’m also slightly worried about how grindy the upgrade and cosmetic mechanics seemed. There are three types of currency in Toxic Commando, all of which are unimaginatively just called ‘Currencies’ in the menus. These currencies are actually crystalline resources called sludgite, the most common of which you can gather up from weird tree things when you’re out and about on a mission. Higher tier sludgite currencies seem to be awarded for mission completions, especially when played on harder difficulty settings, but the amount you earn, versus the cost of a lot of the attachments and cosmetics makes unlocking things feel like more of a grind than it probably should.

I get that this is a design plan to encourage you to replay the campaigns on higher difficulties after you’ve completed them, a’la Helldivers 2, but when there’s so much customisation on offer across characters, weapons and vehicles, and when the cost of each purchase is so high, it feels like you’re going to be locked out of all of the really good stuff unless you dedicate some serious time to the game.

Oh and why on Earth is this game called John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, when there are four Toxic Commandos in the game? Even if you play it solo, the game still throws in three AI controlled toxic commandos to play alongside you, which means there’s never, at any point in the game, a singular Toxic Commando. That name only makes sense then if the plural of Toxic Commando is also just Toxic Commando. You know, just like how one Nintendo Switch Joy-Con is called a Joy-Con but multiple Joy-Con are also just called Joy-Con. Argh this is making my brain hurt.

So yeah, only a couple of minus points really, in what felt like a super fun, gore-soaked co-op shooter. It’s not going to win any game of the year awards, unless there’s a new one for best zombie splatter in a video game, but it definitely feels like one of those games that’ll be really fun to burn through with some pals over the course of a few evenings. Whether you’d want to come back to it multiple times afterwards to grind for a nice scope and a fancy animated gun skin, well, that’s up to you. I don’t think I would, but I am absolutely looking forward to playing through the campaign once with a team of fellow Toxic Commando(s) when the game releases early next year.

When I watch a great pro match of a fighting game like Marvel vs. Capcom 2 or Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, my reaction is equal parts awe and bafflement. The sheer speed and hyper-kinetic action flies by so quickly that I can only make sense of a percentage of what I’m seeing, and the people who have mastered the chaos must be a different species. Kirby Air Riders is like that: a bubblegum colorful confection of speed, agility, and action that feels overwhelming, but still fun to play.

My hands-on experience at Gamescom started with some tutorials showing the ropes of handling your ride. The ride accelerates automatically, which may seem like it suggests simplicity, but there’s still a lot of finesse and fine control to handling your ride. Nailing a drift around a corner takes precise timing, and when you take a jump you can get a speed boost with a clean landing–which means tilting your racer slightly to land parallel if you’re coming up on a hill. Those mechanics felt approachable and easy to grasp during the limited time of a demo, but had enough depth that the skill ceiling looks high.

Now Playing: Kirby Air Riders Is Faster, Deeper, and Cleaner Than The Original

This is a sequel to Kirby’s Air Ride, but the shift to Air Riders is a significant one. There’s a particular emphasis on the characters themselves and their unique powers, and this is where I could most keenly sense Masahiro Sakurai’s experience with the Smash Bros. series. It feels like an evolution of that, and bringing that spirit of balancing different power sets into a new racing context.

After the tutorial featured, I played as two different characters: Magalor, the antagonist of Kirby’s Return to Dreamland; and Starman, a recurring Kirby enemy. The riders seem to handle slightly differently, but the major difference is their special moves. Magalor activates a massive beam that shoots behind him, hitting any opponents that are coming up on your tail. By contrast, Starman’s special was not an offensive tool at all. Instead, he could fly into the air on command using your regular spin attack while the special was activated. This seems primarily suited to help reach high places, though in a pinch you could also use it to dodge, at the expense of some speed.

The demo mostly focused on the City Trials mode, which is separated into two parts. First you explore the wide-open hub area gathering power-ups and switching your weak starter vehicle for a better one. There’s a layer of strategy here, as various icons that you collect give you increased defense, weight, boost, and so on. You can use these to compensate for any of your racer’s weaknesses, or make a naturally strong aspect even stronger. Once the first phase is over, everyone’s total power-ups get tallied up and your build gets taken into the second phase. I could imagine that, as players grow more familiar with the game, serious competitive players will start to optimize combinations of racers and air rides with which types of icons they should prioritize for collection.

The build you craft during this first phase has a huge bearing on how competitive you’ll be in the second one. Once all the players tally up their powers, they’re able to choose one of four game types, and the game will recommend one that’s optimized for your build. Some are more combat-focused while others are centered more on racing. I chose the recommended mode in my first game, a combat/racing fusion with Magalor and held my own decently well. For my second game, I picked one of the modes that was not recommended (mainly in order to stay grouped with the other human players in our closed session) and my unoptimized build showed on the almost pure racing track. Plus, Starman’s vertical-focused power just isn’t the best for a regular race around an oval track, but maybe I just need to get good.

Both phases feel extremely fast, so while one is about prepping a build, they both reward skilled play. And it’s easy to see, even from my limited experience, how choosing your rider, finding your ride, and gathering power-ups could lead to a fierce Kirby Air Riders meta, as advanced Air Riders players explore different options to optimize their competitive edge.

For casual players like myself, Kirby Air Riders looks to be a sweet experience to play with friends, especially in couch co-op, fueling a rowdy party atmosphere. But I suspect that there’s going to be a whole other layer of the game, with the speed and skill of a fighting game, and that one seems destined for the competitive stage.
