Electronic Arts has confirmed it has entered into an agreement to be acquired for $55 billion by an investment consortium comprised of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners.

But who are the companies involved, and why has the acquisition ruffled more than a few feathers?

Let’s start with PIF, the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia.

Founded in 1971, PIF is among the largest sovereign wealth funds in the world, with assets estimated to be worth $925 billion, and is controlled by Saudi Arabia’s crown prince Mohammed bin Salman.

PIF already has an established presence in the games and esports space, but its investments in the game industry have caused controversy owing to the country’s poor record on human rights, including discrimination against women and the fact that homosexuality is illegal in the country.

Bin Salman was found by the US government to have directly approved the assassination of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi in 2018. This is part of the reason why Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot received backlash from employees for meeting him last year as part of a French delegation that reportedly resulted in a deal for a new free DLC for Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

The fund’s video game and esports investment arm, Savvy Games Group, was founded in 2021 and currently owns ESL FACEIT Group and Niantic’s new (as of June) owner, Scopely, but also has an 8.1% share of Embracer Group (worth $1 billion), the parent company of Plaion, THQ Nordic, and Coffee Stain, among others.

In 2022, PIF acquired a 5% stake in Capcom and Nexon Gaming for $1 billion, followed by a 5% stake in Nintendo, which increased to 8.26% in February 2023 before dropping in 2024 to 7.54%. PIF also has a 6.19% stake in Take-Two Interactive as of June 2025.

PIF already owned sizable shares in EA prior to this acquisition and even reportedly increased the number of shares it owns in the company by 55% (to 24.81 million) in 2023.

The acquisition will see the investment consortium acquiring 100% of EA, with PIF rolling over its existing stake in the firm.

Next, we have Silver Lake, ranked the 12th largest private equity firm in the world. Based in the US and headed up by Egon Durban and Greg Mondre, Silver Lake specialises in technological investments.

The firm currently has a large portfolio of investments in companies such as Airtable, Dell, Klarna, Noom, Stripe, and Unity Technologies.

Silver Lake is also a majority shareholder in City Football Group (CFG), the parent company of Manchester City football club, and owns stakes in a multitude of football clubs across the world.

In the press release revealing the acquisition, Durban said:

“EA is a special company: a global leader in interactive entertainment, anchored by its premier sports franchise, with accelerating revenue growth and strong and scaling free cash flow.”

If you consider EA’s successful sports franchises, including EA FC, and Silver Lake’s links with numerous football clubs, this investment makes sense.

Finally, we have Affinity Partners, an independent US investment firm headed up by Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of US president Donald Trump, and the former director of the Office of American Innovation.

During Kushner’s time in office, he and bin Salman allegedly formed a close relationship, exchanging texts and calls, even after the assassination of Jamal Khashoggi. In 2020, he reportedly referred to the assassination as “one of a couple of missteps” by the crown prince.

Kushner left the White House in 2021 and established Affinity Partners, seeking a $2 billion investment from PIF, which was granted by bin Salman.

In September 2024, the chairman of the United States Senate Committee on Finance sent a letter to Affinity Partners’ chief legal officer, raising concerns about the firm’s “business dealings with foreign investors, including foreign governments paying Affinity hundreds of millions of dollars in fees for investment advisory services.”

The letter claimed that Affinity has “pocketed $157 million in fees from foreign clients,” including $87 million from the Saudi Arabian government.

The letter continued:

“While I appreciate Affinity’s cooperation in this matter thus far, the information provided has heightened my concerns that investments in funds managed by Affinity create unprecedented conflicts of interest, and that Affinity’s investors may not be motivated by commercial considerations, but rather the opportunity to funnel foreign government money to members of president Trump’s family, namely Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump.”

In a statement to the New York Times, Chad Mizelle, Affinity Partners’s chief legal officer, said: “Partisan politics aside, Affinity Partners is an S.E.C.-registered investment firm that has always acted appropriately and any suggestion to the contrary is false.”

“We are fortunate to have the support of some of the world’s most sophisticated investors and work hard on their behalf every day.”

While EA has entered an agreement for the investment group to acquire the company, which has been approved by the company’s board of directors, the acquisition hasn’t been finalised.

The deal is still subject to “customary closing conditions” including approval by EA stockholders and required regulators. Should it be approved, the transaction “is expected to close in Q1 FY27,” EA’s press release confirms.

EA are about to be bought for $50 billion by Saudi Arabia and Jared Kushner’s investment firms, claims report

by admin September 29, 2025

Battlefield, EA Sports FC and Apex Legends publishers Electronic Arts are holding “advanced talks” to go private with a valuation of $50 billion after 35 years as a public company, according to reports this weekend.

If rumour breathe true, the buyers are a group of investors that include private equity firm Silver Lake, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, and Affinity Partners, the Saudi-backed investment firm founded by Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.

The report comes via the Wall Street Journal (paywall) and Reuters, the latter of whom cite “sources familiar with the matter”. They claim that if the deal goes through, it could happen this week.

If the deal does happen, it will mean that BioWare, Criterion Games, DICE, Motive Studio, and Respawn Entertainment are now partly overseen by the investment arm of a state that oppresses women and queer people, executes journalists and imprisons political dissenters. Mass Effect and Dragon Age developers may find the prospect especially unwelcome, given the focus their games place on diverse casts.

Reuters frame the investments as part of Saudi Arabia’s “Vision 2030” strategy to diversify the Kingdom’s heavily oil-reliant economy. The PIF were rumoured to be discussing a $2 billion investment deal via their subsidiary Savvy Games with the infamously acquisition-happy Embracer Group some years ago. These talks reportedly fell through in May 2023, triggering a brutal period of mass layoffs and cancellations.

More recently, the PIF acquired Scopely, US publishers of licensed games like Marvel Strike Force and the current developers of Pokemon Go. They have also funded the creation of a new Assassin’s Creed: Mirage DLC pack set in the historic city of AlUla, prompting internal criticism from Ubisoft developers.

In addition to investing in games publishers, the PIF have poured a lot of money into esports, acquiring companies and hosting tournaments in what has been widely styled a case of ‘sportswashing’ the Kingdom’s abysmal human rights record. Earlier this month, the Public Investment Fund-backed company Qiddiya became co-owner of fighting game tournament Evo. Savvy Games already own ESL FACEIT Group, a merger of two esports organisers, who are organising next year’s much-trumpeted Esports World Cup in Riyadh.

As for the other two investment groups who are allegedly party to the EA deal, Silver Lake are a 1999-founded firm who once owned Skype, and who have also sunk a few doubloons into game engine company Unity and PC manufacturer Dell. Affinity Partners were founded by Kushner in 2021, and have received billions from the PIF, with Saudi ruler Mohammed bin Salman personally intervening to push the investment through. Kushner is the subject of scrutiny as to whether his Saudi partnerships have influenced his work in the US government.

The rumoured EA buyout would continue the past decade’s consolidation of game developers and publishers in the hands of a select few megacorporations. Microsoft completed their acquisition of Activision-Blizzard last year, adding Call of Duty, Diablo and Candy Crush Saga to the Xbox haggis. The world’s largest videogame publisher, Tencent, have scooped up big outfits like Riot Games, Sumo Group and Funcom, while acquiring majority stakes or sizeable minority shares in the likes of Epic, Krafton and Paradox Interactive. Tencent recently funnelled a large reservoir of money into Ubisoft as part of the latter’s wider corporate restructuring to focus on Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry and Rainbow Six.

EA have seen “better-than-expected” revenue growth lately, but they’ve had some significant disappointments in the past year or two, and are currently betting rather a lot on Battlefield 6, with executives allegedly hell-bent on attracting 100 million players. Whatever their current fortunes, it seems plausible that layoffs will follow any buyout, as the new overlords seek to ‘optimise’ their investment.

I’ll wire EA a request for comment.

Peter Schiff Explains Why Strategy (MSTR) Should Have Bought Gold Instead of Bitcoin

by admin September 28, 2025

Analysts mapped a slow-grind path for bitcoin and flagged $112,000 as the trigger while gold advocate Peter Schiff revived the gold-versus-bitcoin debate by challenging Michael Saylor’s BTC treasury bet for his firm.

CoinDesk Senior Analyst James van Straten said bitcoin’s market structure has shifted alongside gold’s repricing.

He expects a slow, stair-step advance supported by steady ETF inflows, with 10–20% pullbacks along the way. He compared the setup to gold in the early 2000s, when prices climbed for years but often paused for healthy corrections.

In his framing, bitcoin may sometimes lag gold and sometimes outperform it, yet he still sees bitcoin leading on total returns over a full cycle.

Read More: Bitcoin Trails Equities, Metals, and USD in Q3. Here Is a Key Level to Watch for Next Move

Michaël van de Poppe focused on near-term levels.

He called sub-$107,000 a buy zone, signaling where he thinks dip buyers are likely to step in. He also pointed to $112,000 as the ceiling to beat. A clean break and hold above $112,000 on UTC closes would, in his view, confirm strength and broaden risk appetite, the point at which flows often rotate into large altcoins. That is what he means by “altcoin mode.”

Euro Capital CEO Peter Schiff, meanwhile, challenged Michael Saylor’s strategy by contrasting Strategy’s bitcoin exposure with a hypothetical gold program.

His core claim is liquidity. He argued that tens of billions of dollars in gold could be sold with limited market impact, while trying to exit a similar bitcoin position could hit prices hard and set off copycat selling.

Supporters of bitcoin would counter that any large seller could stage exits over time and use over-the-counter channels, but Schiff’s point is that gold’s market depth offers more flexibility to very large holders.

CoinDesk Research analysis

  • Window: Sept. 27, 09:00 UTC to Sept. 28, 08:00 UTC.
  • What happened: According to CoinDesk Research’s technical analysis data model, bitcoin consolidated in about a $692 band (~1%), between $109,156.82 and $109,849.28.
  • Support showed up: repeated holds near ~$109,400 late on Sept. 27 (UTC).
  • Resistance formed: ~$109,750 capped rebounds in that same late-evening window.
  • Final 60 minutes: between 07:09 UTC and 08:08 UTC on Sept. 28, price popped to $109,663.84 at 08:03 UTC, then settled near ~$109,580, turning ~$109,575 into fresh, short-term support.
  • Read-through: Support ~$109,400–$109,575; resistance ~$109,750. A UTC close above ~$109,750 sets up $110,000–$111,000. Lose ~$109,400, and ~$109,150 is next.

Latest 24-hour and one-month chart read

  • 24-hour context (as of Sept. 28, 14:41 UTC): price near $109,724 sits above ~$109,400/109,575 support and below ~$109,750 resistance. A break and hold above ~$109,750 (UTC) points to $110,000–$111,000, with $112,000 the broader momentum trigger many traders watch. A slip back under ~$109,400 risks a retest of ~$109,150, then ~$108,500.
  • One-month context: after mid-September highs near ~$117,000, bitcoin has compressed into the $109,000–$112,000 area. Reclaiming and holding $112,000 would likely reignite upside momentum. Failing that, more sideways consolidation is the base case rather than a trend break on its own.

$840 Million in Bitcoin Bought in One Go, What’s Happening?

by admin September 23, 2025

The Bitcoin ecosystem has witnessed enormous BTC transfers involving thousands of coins in the last hour. However, the most significant transaction, spotted by blockchain tracker Whale Alert, has sparked market reactions as it appears to represent a major buy.

According to data from Whale Alert, 7,441 BTC (over $840 million) were withdrawn from the leading U.S.-based crypto exchange Coinbase in a single transfer executed just minutes ago.

The massive Bitcoin purchase comes at a time when the market is under pressure from negative price trends and heavy selling. This development has drawn the attention of traders and analysts.

The crypto community has expressed excitement about the move. Although the exact nature of the transfer has not been disclosed, such large-scale withdrawals from major exchanges are often interpreted as strong whale accumulation.

Some commentators have suggested that this could be an over-the-counter deal that might not directly affect Bitcoin’s price. Still, the sheer size of the transfer has sparked hopes that something major is brewing.

Bitcoin price heading for recovery?

Beyond the impact of this significant withdrawal, Bitcoin’s price action over the last several hours has offered relief to investors, surging back above $113,000. After recording an intraday low of $111,591, sentiment has shifted toward optimism for a bigger rally.

Following sharp declines the previous day, BTC has briefly turned green, posting a modest daily gain of 0.16%. As of press time, CoinMarketCap data shows Bitcoin trading at $112,913.

While price action on Tuesday remains mixed, Bitcoin appears to be gradually gearing up for a major breakout. The large whale withdrawal from Coinbase signals a bullish shift in investor sentiment and could indicate that BTC is preparing for larger moves ahead.

Nonetheless, additional whale activity may be necessary to sustain upward momentum and push Bitcoin toward a significant breakout.

Kevin Durant Recovers Bitcoin Bought at $650, Now Up Over 17,700%, After Nearly a Decade

by admin September 20, 2025

NBA forward Kevin Durant has access to his bitcoin again, after being locked out of his Coinbase account for nearly a decade. In that time, the price of BTC rose by more than 17,700%.

“We got this fixed. Account recovery complete,” Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong posted on X, responding to a viral tweet about Durant’s access issues.

The recovery comes days after Durant and his business partner, Rich Kleiman, discussed the lockout at CNBC’s Game Plan conference. “It’s just a process we haven’t been able to figure out,” Kleiman said. Still, he noted, “bitcoin keeps going up… so, I mean, it’s only benefited us.”

Durant bought bitcoin in 2016 after hearing about it from then-teammates on the Golden State Warriors. At the time, bitcoin traded between $360 and $1,000 and Durant is estimated to have bought at around $650 per coin.

It’s now hovering near $116,000, according to CoinMarketCap data. Neither Durant nor Kleiman disclosed the size of his holdings.

Durant and Kleiman are investors in Coinbase and have promoted the company through their media outlet, Boardroom.

The episode comes amid growing frustration among some Coinbase users, who alleged they’ve faced similar issues retrieving account access or getting help from customer support. Armstrong acknowledged the criticism on social media, saying the company is “putting a big focus” on improving customer support.

Here’s How Much Dogecoin Whales Bought In Only One Week

by admin September 20, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

Dogecoin has witnessed a strong uptick in whale accumulation this week, with large investors aggressively increasing their holdings. On-chain analytics platform Santiment reveals that wallets holding between 100 million and 1 billion DOGE have ramped up their balances this week, which is one of the most notable buying sprees in recent weeks.

This accumulation coincided with Dogecoin’s push from $0.26 on September 15 to briefly crossing above the $0.28 level on September 18, suggesting that whale activity has been an important factor in the token’s latest rally.

Whales Add About 1 Billion DOGE To Holdings

According to Santiment’s data, whales in the balance category of 100 million to 1 billion DOGE boosted their combined holdings from 26.48 billion DOGE on September 15 to 27.39 billion DOGE by September 19. This means about 910 million DOGE were accumulated by these addresses in just four days, equivalent to over $250 million at the current price of Dogecoin.

This increase in whale-controlled supply typically signals growing confidence in the asset while also reducing the liquidity available in open markets. The timing of these purchases points to a deliberate accumulation strategy as Dogecoin tested a local price support at $0.26.

Source: Chart from Santiment

Whales purchasing hundreds of millions of tokens not only reduce available supply but also tend to encourage retail traders to follow suit. The scale of this accumulation appears to have had a direct impact on Dogecoin’s price action. Between September 15 and 18, Dogecoin rose from $0.26 to above $0.28, a rally of nearly 8% within three days.

This rally was all on the action of whales alone, as Santiment data shows a corresponding holding decrease in the cohort of addresses holding between 10 million DOGE and 100 million DOGE tokens.

Dogecoin Technical Analysis

As it stands, Dogecoin’s ability to extend its rally will depend on how it holds above the $0.28 price level in the coming days. However, a bullish technical analysis that aligns with this whale accumulation trend suggests that Dogecoin is now on track to new all-time highs.

Crypto analyst Trader Tardigrade confirmed that Dogecoin’s weekly chart has broken out of a long-standing symmetrical triangle pattern. According to him, last week’s candle close validates the breakout and establishes a 1:29 risk-to-reward trading opportunity.

The symmetrical triangle setup points to a strong trend continuation after a series of higher lows and lower highs since September 2025 that has now resolved upward. Interestingly, Trader Tardigrade predicted a rally that would see Dogecoin break above its current all-time high. Particularly, the analyst predicted that Dogecoin could rally as high as $1.7 if the breakout follows through.

If you bought Corsair PC memory after 2018 you might be entitled to a share of $5.5 million from a class action over advertised DDR4 and DDR5 speeds

by admin September 16, 2025

Corsair has settled a class action lawsuit claiming that the memory specialist overstated the speeds of various DDR4 and DDR5 RAM kits on offer since 2018. Corsair is set to pay out $5.5 million to customers (via Tom’s Hardware).

To boil the dispute right down, Corsair is accused of advertising RAM products according to the speeds attained under XMP or Extended Memory Profiles as opposed to JEDEC defaults.

According to the settlement, you could be entitled to compensation if you bought, “any Corsair DDR-4 (non-SODIMM/laptop) memory product with a rated speed over 2133 megahertz (MHz) or any Corsair DDR-5 (non-SODIMM/laptop) memory product with a rated speed over 4800 megahertz, and made that purchase while living in the United States, and the purchase(s) occurred between January 14, 2018 and July 2, 2025.”

The initial terms say that proof of purchase isn’t necessary, but without it claimants are limited to compensation for five products. Compensation will be on a pro-rata basis. In other words, there isn’t a fixed compensation amount per claim, instead the $5.5 million sum will be divided among the successful claimants.

It’s worth noting that the settlement does not include an admission of guilt by Corsair, merely it means the company has decided to put an end to litigation with the settlement.

The difference between what the memory kits run at by default and the speeds they can attain under XMP settings are at the heart of the dispute. (Image credit: Future)

“The plaintiffs in the lawsuit allege they were led to believe that the advertised speeds were ‘out of the box’ speeds requiring no adjustments to their PCs,” the settlement website says, “the Court has not decided which side is right.

“Corsair Gaming denies all claims of wrongdoing and denies that it violated any law. The settlement is not an admission of wrongdoing or liability. The parties have agreed to the settlement to avoid the uncertainties, burdens and expenses associated with continuing the case.”

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

The settlement has been agreed by the protagonists, but has yet to acquire court approval. If the court does approve the deal, Corsair will also be required to adjust the way it advertises RAM.

“The settlement will also require Corsair to take commercially reasonable efforts to implement changes on the packaging, website product pages, and specifications provided to resellers for the covered products. Rated speeds for the products will be listed as ‘up to’ speeds, with the following corresponding text: ‘Requires overclocking/PC BIOS adjustments. Maximum speed and performance depend on system components, including motherboard and CPU.’

Anywho, if you did buy Corsair memory between January 14 2018 and July 2 2025, you have until October 28 to head over to the class action website and register your claim.

Ethereum Aggressive Buying Spree From Bitmine – Here’s How Much They’ve Bought This Month

by admin September 15, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

The broader cryptocurrency market has sprung back to life again, with Ethereum rising back above the $4,600 price mark after a renewed bullish move. Within the period of bullish action, Bitmine Immersion has gone on a significant buying spree, acquiring thousands of ETH in the month of September alone.

Bitmine’s Unstoppable Ethereum Buying Spree

Ethereum’s price is experiencing a newfound upward strength as the leading altcoin draws dangerously closer to the $4,700 level. While ETH is gaining bullish traction, Bitmine Immersion Technology Inc., a leading treasury company, is doubling down on the asset with its steady, significant purchases.

In a post from Crypto Patel on the social media platform X, the expert revealed that the treasury company has been buying ETH at a massive scale this month alone. The company’s frequent and substantial ETH acquisitions demonstrate its robust belief in the asset’s potential for long-term growth.

Even as market fluctuations continue to test investor confidence, Bitmine appears to be unshaken by the previous price swings. This substantial acquisition fuels the argument that ETH’s place in the future of smart contracts and decentralized finance is still far from fully priced in.

Bitmine heavily buying ETH | Source: Chart from Crypto Patel on X

Data shared by Crypto Patel shows that the company has scooped up over 276,800 ETH in just 14 days, valued at roughly $1.3 billion. It is worth noting that this 276,800 ETH was acquired in just 2 weeks, particularly on September 7 and 14. In the first week of this month, Bitmine accumulated 74,300 ETH, while the second week saw 202,500 ETH.

Such a massive purchase reinforces Bitmine’s leading role in ETH treasury strategy and strengthens its position in the general crypto landscape. Considered an aggressive accumulation by any standard, Crypto Patel stated that the buying spree is a strong signal of institutional conviction in ETH’s long-term value.

Large Investors Are Sharply Scooping Up ETH

During this renewed bullish action, ETH‘s largest investors are making their presence felt once again in the market. Crypto Patel has outlined a growing positive sentiment among these large investors, also known as whales, as they continued to accumulate the asset.

According to Crypto Patel, big money players on Ethereum are stacking more than ever before. On-chain data shows that Ethereum whales holding between 10,000 ETH and 100,000 ETH have just climbed to a new all-time high. Presently, a significant portion of the supply is controlled by these wallets, indicating increasing accumulation.

In addition to indicating a notable growing pattern of accumulation, this recent spike in whale balances also suggests a strong belief in the altcoin’s prospects. Crypto Patel noted that whale confidence at this scale typically precedes large market moves. As large investors double down on the altcoin, the expert stated that strong on-chain support is forming.

Bitcoin Whale Dumps $4 Billion In BTC, Here’s What They Bought

by admin September 2, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

A Bitcoin whale has transferred approximately $4 billion worth of BTC into Ethereum, signaling a major shift in the crypto market. This sudden redirection of funds has sparked discussions about its implications for the future of both leading cryptocurrencies. With such a dramatic capital rotation, traders question whether Ethereum is poised to step into the spotlight again as BTC comes under mounting pressure.

Whale Moves $4 Billion From Bitcoin To Ethereum

This week, the crypto world was shaken after news broke that a single Bitcoin whale rotated more than $4 billion worth of BTC into Ethereum. This unprecedented move, which saw the large-scale holder sell off a significant BTC position for ETH, has fueled speculation that Ethereum could be gearing up for a major price rally. As a result, Rekt Fencer, a crypto analyst has even predicted that ETH will soon reach as high as $15,000.

Notably, the whale’s $4 billion rotation has caught the attention of various crypto members, igniting heated debates across the community. One trader noted that the move could mark the beginning of a “rotation season,” when capital changes from one dominant asset into another.

Other members echoed similar sentiments, highlighting that the sudden shift into Ethereum is not limited to a single whale, but is also observed among several long-time BTC holders now turning to ETH. Many market participants were quick to share their thoughts on the latest whale move. Some saw the rotation as evidence that these large-scale players may have access to insights that the broader retail crowd does not.

Others suggested it could simply be a strategy to ignite momentum within the Ethereum market, attracting attention and volume while Bitcoin consolidates. Regardless of the motivation, ETH bulls are believed to be finally taking control, predicting a potential surge to $10,000 from its current price of $4,412.

The timing could not be better for Ethereum, as the cryptocurrency has been seeing slow price growth following its previous rally. This unexpected surge in whale demand could accelerate momentum, potentially pushing ETH to a new all-time high.

More Whales Exit BTC For ETH

Multiple reports have indicated that whale rotation from BTC to ETH has become a broader trend. According to blockchain analytics firm CMDR, a whale recently sold approximately $435 million in Bitcoin before quickly converting nearly the same amount, $433 million, into Ethereum.

Market expert Ash Crypto also noted that since August 20, Bitcoin OG addresses have dumped 35,991 BTC, worth just over $4 billion, in exchange for 886,371 ETH, valued at $4.07 billion. Supporting this momentum, crypto analyst Ali Martinez highlighted that whales have collectively bought more than 260,000 ETH in just the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, market observers like CryptoGoos revealed that Ethereum is rapidly disappearing from exchanges, signaling accumulation by big players and reduced availability for retail traders.

$557 Million in Ethereum Bought in Minutes as Bulls Show Up

by admin August 30, 2025

Although Ethereum has seen its price plunge deeper beyond key resistance levels, on-chain activities suggest bulls are not gone.

According to data shared by Cryptoquant analyst Maartunn, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization has witnessed a significant increase in taker buy volume across all exchanges, with over half a billion worth of ETH purchased in minutes.

The data reveals that the leading altcoin recorded a massive $557 million in buy volume in less than an hour as of August 29 despite major price setbacks witnessed on the day. Considering the timing of the massive Ethereum accumulation spree, it appears that the bulls have decided to buy the dip on Ethereum as efforts to maximize gains.

What’s next for ETH?

With the massive buying activity coinciding with the broad crypto market bloodbath, Ethereum has failed to respond with a positive price move as its price continues to plunge lower. Hence, market participants are keeping a close eye on Ethereum on-chain movements as market uncertainty looms.

Although the notable increase in Ethereum’s taker buy volume hints at heightening dip-buying interest among Ethereum investors, the move has raised optimism about a potential price rebound for the asset.

After holding strong above $4,700 and moving towards the much-anticipated $5,000 a few days ago, momentum is increasingly fading as traders continue to cautiously reposition their assets. As such, the asset has fallen as low as $4,272 on August 29. Showing a notable price decrease of 3.44% over the last day, data from CoinMarketCap shows that it is trading steadily at $4,340 as of press time.
