Modded Borderlands 4 guns are being sold on Ebay, but the sellers aren’t making much money

by admin September 26, 2025

Modded Borderlands 4 guns and equipment are being sold on Ebay with tailored gun parts and effects. However, as of writing, it doesn’t appear this grey market of modded loot is particularly profitable.

Ebay – a public e-commerce marketplace – is no stranger to gaming related side hustles, with numerous account, cosmetic, and service sellers setting up camp there over the years with the release of popular online video games. Eurogamer reached out to one Borderlands modded gun merchant to find out how it’s going.

“It is fairly difficult to do as they have included a new encryption method to the guns this year that makes doing specific builds very very hard and will take, I would imagine, a long time to get perfected” states one Borderlands modded weapon reseller to Eurogamer under anonymity.

Check out the Borderlands 4 story trailer here!Watch on YouTube

This new encryption method implemented by Gearbox not only makes the act of modding the exact weapon you want difficult, it’s also making prospects of profit for resellers unlikely due to the cost of getting the decrypted values for weapons people will actually pay for. When asked how successful business is, the seller told Eurogamer:

“Not very successful. I’ve sold maybe three or four since release, which is around £15 to £20, which doesn’t even cover the costs to build the guns, but I don’t do this to make money or profit.

“To make the modded guns you often need to pay for tables that data miners have made that breakdown gun parts. Each part of the gun has an encrypted value, so does the rarity, manufacturer, level etc and the tables can be expensive to buy at around £50 to £100.”

As such, at the moment, it appears that the grey market for selling modded Borderlands 4 loot is more for the hobbyists rather than those looking to make a buck from a hot new release (unless you’re a data miner able to sell off valuable info, rather than the sought after weapons themselves).

Whether or not this will become a great problem as time goes on, and more of the game’s loot encryption is broken down and made publicly available, remains a potential problem for the future. Although as a PvE game, the modded gear seller made an argument for why the practice of modding isn’t doing any harm:

“Borderlands games have always been modded and I’ve modded them since Borderlands 1 and every game in between. It’s a huge part of why I love the games so much.”

Borderlands 4 Stuttering On PC? Gearbox Has An Unusual Step To Fix Stability Issues

by admin September 26, 2025

The newest Borderlands 4 patch arrived on September 25, addressing stability and performance issues. The update doesn’t fix everything, though, and now developer Gearbox has given players some advice about how to addresses ongoing stability issues.

The developer said it’s aware of players experiencing stuttering issues following installation of the new update, impacting performance. This is due to shader compilation that’s occurring in the background during gameplay, which it said should clear up after 15 minutes of “continuous play.” That’s an unusual note, as shader compilation is typically handled during start-up, before you begin playing, in order to avoid just these sorts of issues. If the stuttering doesn’t clear up after 15 minutes, Gearbox advised clearing your shader cache, which is a process specific to your graphics card’s manufacturer.

Now Playing: Borderlands 4 Video Review

The technical issues with Borderlands 4 prompted Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford to post through it, but he’s since moved on to posting a lot about the upcoming Now You See Me movie sequel. Pitchford contributed to the magic elements of the movie and says he was more involved with that film that the Borderlands movie.

The September 25 patch for Borderlands 4 also added an FOV slider on console, which is something fans had asked for (and something that can reduce performance). The patch also made some balance changes to Vault Hunters, and even more are coming in another update that’s planned for next week.

In other Borderlands 4 news, the Switch 2 edition has been delayed indefinitely and all digital preorders are being refunded. Gearbox delayed the game to help add more polish and to support cross-saves.

Borderlands 4 patch adds FOV sliders, somehow both improves and worsens stability at the same time

by admin September 26, 2025

A new Borderlands 4 patch has been released packing a number of important improvements, including a much-requested FOV slider on the console version, various bug fixes and stability improvements. However, it has also bizarrely reduced game stability for some PC players too.

To these newfound performance problems, the official Borderlands X account has suggested stuttering issues should resolve over time as shaders compile in the background. However, if problems persist after 15-minutes of play, it then recommends clearing your shader cache.

There’s a lot of fixes here, some of which are wild. According to the patch notes, continued improvements to stability will be made over time, plus fixes have been made to infinite loading screens, certain achievements unlocking before they should, unowned DLC items appearing in chests or menus, and more.

Watch the Borderlands 4 launch trailer here.Watch on YouTube

It’s not all fixes though. This update comes with weekly activity changes too. The Weekly Big Encore Boss has switched, as has the Weekly Wildcard missions and Maurice’s Black Market Vending Machine location. So if you’re still locked into Borderlands 4 there should be some new surprises for you starting today.

The update comes following a saga of performance related drama surrounding Borderlands 4. The game launched with significant performance problems and had quite lofty minimum recommended PC specs. Gearbox CEO stood by the game and stated it was “pretty damn optimal”, later advising unhappy players to refund Borderlands 4if they were unhappy with the game.

Earlier this week the Switch 2 version of Borderlands 4 was indefinitely delayed too, so it’s been a rough start for the sci-fi shooter. Still, the game is proving popular among its playerbase and has a lot to offer those able to push past technical hurdles. The Eurogamer review notes: “There was rarely a moment playing Borderlands 4 where I didn’t enjoy some part of it. But there was rarely a moment where elements of it didn’t frustrate me, either.”

Borderlands 4 Just Got FOV Sliders On Console And Some Other Nice Fixes

by admin September 26, 2025

Since the launch of Borderlands 4 earlier this month, the game has suffered from performance issues on both console and PC. Players have also been upset about the lack of a field-of-view slider on console. Well, good news, Gearbox’s latest patch for Borderlands 4, out now on all platforms, adds the missing FOV slider, improves performance and stability, and fixes a ton of other issues, too.

On September 25, Gearbox published the lengthy patch notes for Borderlands 4‘s latest free update. And there’s a lot to go through, but the biggest news for many console players is that Gearbox has added an FOV slider to the game. This had been one of the main requests from players, and something Gearbox has been working on since launch. Just a heads-up that increasing the FOV in Borderlands 4, like in any game, could lead to performance issues. Speaking of performance issues, the patch notes don’t specifically mention a fix for the issue of the game running worse on consoles after extended play, but it does make mention of “various” fixes for “hitching, low FPS, and crashes.” So hopefully that helps and means I don’t have to restart my PS5 Pro every so often to play Borderlands 4 at 60fps.

Another bug that is supposedly squashed is the problem of missing weapon icons when using your menu or inventory. This happened to me a lot on PC and to a few friends of mine on PS5. Oh, and for all you fans of the Doom-inspired Hellwalker shotgun, Gearbox has confirmed that the gun not being a fire elemental weapon was a mistake, and all future Hellwalkers will come with fire pellets. Tiny fix, but one that I love.

And that’s not all. While this update makes a few tweaks to the playable vault hunters, Gearbox has confirmed that there are even more buffs coming in a different Borderlands 4 patch next week. No word on nerfs to the popular knife build or the super jump, which is nice. It seems these broken strats are safe…for now. Oh, and in case you didn’t hear, the Switch 2 port of the game has been delayed. At least it will launch with all of these fixes on day one.

Anyway, here are the full patch notes:

Borderlands 4’s latest patch triggers a flurry of performance complaints, but Gearbox says new stuttering problems ‘should resolve over time as the shaders continue to compile’

by admin September 25, 2025

A new Borderlands 4 patch has gone live with an array of fixes, gameplay tweaks, and the big one, promises of improved performance and stability—sorely needed for a game that, despite its popularity, holds a “mixed” rating on Steam, largely because of sub-par performance. (For the record, our reviewer liked it quite a bit.) The update has sparked a new round of performance complaints, though, as quite a few players are reporting that instead of being improved, their in-game performance is worse than ever.

One of the less-great things about PC gaming is that the nigh-infinite number of potential hardware configurations means that somebody, somewhere, is always going to have problems with a new game launch or update. In this case, though, the problems seem fairly widespread, with reports of diminished frame rates and increased stuttering coming in on Steam, Reddit, and X alike.

Some users do say they’ve seen an improvement in frame rates, or at least that things are more or less the same. But, at least at this point, they seem easily outnumbered by players who say they’ve encountered the opposite effect. A few players have said clearing the shader cache might help clear up the problems, but it’s not clear whether that’s related to this new patch or just a catch-up to a known issue we talked about last week.

Related articles

Gearbox acknowledged the complaints a couple hours after the patch went live but indicated that there might not actually be any problems. “Stuttering issues should resolve over time as the shaders continue to compile in the background while playing,” the studio wrote on X. Compiling shaders is, you’ll recall, the bane of gamers everywhere. “If you’re still experiencing issues after 15 minutes of continuous play, you can also clear your shader cache via your video card manufacturer’s approved method.”

Fingers crossed, then, but we’ll keep you posted if the problems turn out to be more serious than that. For now, you can check out the full patch notes below.

  • Maurice’s Black Market Vending Machine has moved to another location and changed its offerings. Remember, while the location is the same, your vending machine items are different from other players, so ask around to see if someone has the item you’re looking for!

Mod maker brings Skibidi Toilet to Borderlands 4 for one simple reason: To spite the narrative director who said he’d ‘cry real tears’ if the game shipped with it

by admin September 25, 2025

One of the best things about PC gaming is mods. They let people do things with their games that developers, for whatever reason, couldn’t, didn’t, and/or really wish you wouldn’t. Sometimes they’re practical things, like the recently-released Dying Light: the Beast mod that reduces annoying zombie grabs—and sometimes, well, they’re not.

A good example of a mod that was not created to solve a practical problem is Epic’s Skibidi Toilet, which creator EpicNNG said was made specifically “to spite Samuel Winkleclank.” That would be Borderlands 4 narrative director Sam Winkler, who apparently brought this upon himself by saying Borderlands 4 would cut back on the “toilet humor” of Borderlands 3.

“If the word ‘skibidi’ ships in the game under my watch I’m gonna cry real tears,” Winkler proclaimed fatefully.

Careful what you wish for, or vocally wish not to happen as the case may be, because yes, it is real.

Winkler, to his credit, seems to be taking it well.

His torment isn’t likely over, though. In the same post in which Winkler said he wouldn’t allow Skibidi Toilet in Borderlands 4, he also wrote, “Paul Tassi joked that we were gonna have a gun called Hawk 2A and a fellow dev asked me if it was real and I wanted to put my hand down the sink grinder.”

For the record, it’s not all disturbing toilets and sex puns: EpicNNG also creates mods that solves practical problems, including one that will remove or reduce VFX in Borderlands 4 to improve accessibility.

Skibidi Toilet has made its way to Borderlands 4 just to spite its narrative director

by admin September 24, 2025

Borderlands 4 players on the PC are now able to download a little mod that’ll add a particularly famous meme to the game, in spite of the narrative director’s public woes.

That’s right, the Skibidi Toilet mod can be downloaded on Nexusmods right now. This mod will add the infamous Skibidi Toilet face to in-game toilets, bringing everyone’s fears to life. The mod was created by EpicNNG, developer and Borderlands content creator.

The reason this jokey mod is of note is thanks to Borderlands 4 narrative director Sam Winkler’s comments on the game’s tone prior to launch. On social media, Winkler said that the “toilet humour” present in Borderlands 3 would be toned down, and stated: “if the word skibidi ships in the game under my watch I’m gonna cry real tears”.

Check out the launch trailer for Borderlands 4 here.Watch on YouTube

So while Sam Winkler has been able to sleep peacefully knowing Borderlands 4 hasn’t shipped with any especially cringeworthy gags, it seems certain corners of the Borderlands community have long memories. People say having open communication to developers is great for community building and strong ties to the folks making the experiences gamers love. The real reason is obviously this: to create mods to torment them.

It actually gets worse for Winkler, who also stated: “Paul Tassi joked that we were gonna have a gun called Hawk 2A and a fellow dev asked me if it was real and I wanted to put my hand down the sink grinder”. EpicNNG posted on X that “Hawk 2A is next”, so here’s hoping any Borderlands 4 DLC is written up and ready to go before Winkler does something drastic.

If this has somehow convinced you to try out Borderlands 4, why not check out our Borderlands 4 review! In it reviewer Rick Lane concludes: “Borderlands 4 brings a more sensible script and a true open world to its pseudo-cel-shaded gun-show. But these moderate improvements are undermined by frustrating exploration and combat that takes too long to properly shine.”

Borderlands 4 On Switch 2 Delayed Amid Ongoing Performance Issues

by admin September 24, 2025

Despite launching on September 12 to a generally positive critical reception, Borderlands 4 has been plagued with performance issues on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. While the studio continues to iron out the kinks, it has decided to delay the Switch 2 launch of Borderlands 4 to an unspecified date.

Since its launch on other platforms, players have reported technical issues with Borderlands 4, including unstable framerates, stuttering, and crashes, even on higher-end PCs. As a result of the latter, the game’s Steam reviews currently stand at “Mixed.”

Borderlands 4 was scheduled to launch on Switch 2 on October 3, but Gearbox has pushed the date to ensure this version doesn’t suffer a similar fate. As a result, Gearbox is canceling all digital pre-orders on the Nintendo eShop (though players can do this themselves or wait for it to occur automatically on Friday, September 26). The studio also states it plans to time the eventual release of this version to coincide with the arrival of cross-saves, a feature currently in development.

Here is Gearbox’s full message, as shared on X:

Greetings, Vault Hunters.
We need to share that the release of Borderlands 4 on Nintendo Switch 2 is being delayed. We do not take this decision lightly, but are committed to ensuring we deliver the best possible experience to our fans, and the game needs additional development and polish time to do that. Our hope is to also better align this release with the addition of cross-saves, which we are working on and recognize is very important. We will update you all on the new release timing once we’ve fully adjusted our plans.
In accordance with Nintendo’s policy, all digital pre-orders to date will be cancelled. Customers can initiate that process themselves now, or it will happen automatically starting on Friday, September 26. For questions about the Nintendo eShop, contact [Nintendo]. For physical pre-orders, please reach out to the corresponding retailer.
We greatly appreciate the feedback, support and patience of our fans and community. It’s truly what keeps us going.

Borderlands 4 Switch 2 Release Has Been Delayed

by admin September 24, 2025

Borderlands 4 debuted earlier this month on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. However, Switch 2 owners were supposed to get the game on October 3. Now, Gearbox Software has delayed the Borderlands 4 Switch 2 port 10 days before its release after citing a need for it to have more time in development.

Gearbox made the announcement on social media, and wrote that it “did not take this decision lightly.” The statement goes on to say that Gearbox is “committed to ensuring we deliver the best possible experience to our fans, and the game needs additional development and polish time to do that. Our hope is to also better align this release with the addition of cross saves, which we are working on and recognize is very important. We will update you all on the new release timing once we’ve fully adjusted our plans.”

The publisher also noted that all Borderlands 4 Switch 2 pre-orders will be canceled per Nintendo’s policy. Players can initiate a refund now or wait until Friday, September 26, when they will be issued automatically.

Borderlands 4 had positive critical reviews prior to launch, but PC players have left harsh feedback on Steam about performance and optimization issues. Gearbox Studios CEO Randy Pitchford has challenged players’ negative reviews about optimization issues and remained defiant about it days later, while also offering tips for better performance on PC and consoles.

Gearbox has already released a patch aimed at the PC stability issues. Pitchford has indicated that a PS5 Pro patch is in the works as well.

Borderlands 4 Indefinitely Delayed On Switch 2 As Fans Get Refunds

by admin September 23, 2025

Borderlands 4 was supposed to kick off the Nintendo Switch 2’s first big fall season but it’s now been indefinitely delayed as Gearbox Entertainment works to deliver the “best possible experience” for fans on the new portable console. It’s a surprisingly last-minute move for a game that was supposed to ship in less than two weeks, on October 3. The pivot comes after weeks of heated debate over the loot shooter’s performance on other platforms.

“We need to share that the release of Borderlands 4 on Nintendo Switch 2 is being delayed,” the studio wrote in an announcement on Tuesday evening. “We do not take this decision lightly, but are committed to ensuring we deliver the best possible experience to our fans, and the game needs additional development and polish time to do that.”

The studio said it hopes to peg the new release date for Borderlands 4 on Switch 2 to the arrival of cross saves for all versions of the game, but didn’t provide a release window for that either. “We will update you all on the new release timing once we’ve fully adjusted our plans,” the announcement reads. In the meantime, all digital pre-orders on the eShop have been canceled in accordance with a Nintendo policy, and will be refunded starting September 26.

The sudden delay comes after lots of complaints about Borderlands 4‘s performance on PC as well as some concerns on other consoles, including an apparent memory leak that makes the game run worse if you play it continuously for long stretches of time without quitting out and relaunching. The game is capped at 30fps on Switch 2, and initial hands-on impressions with the game suggested it ran well enough, though experiences on Steam Deck have reportedly been subpar. Digital Foundry’s analysis of the game across various platforms has also been less than glowing.

Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford has been all over social media since the sci-fi sequel launched earlier this month, but hasn’t yet weighed in on the delay as of publishing time.
