Aster vs Hyperliquid: BNB Chain DEX Perps Volume Derails the HYPE Train

by admin September 24, 2025

In brief

  • Binance Chain has overtaken Hyperliquid in 24-hour perpetual volume, helped along by new DEX Aster.
  • The surge in investor interest surrounding BSC DEXs is not a phase and is likely to persist, experts told Decrypt.
  • Binance Chain validators have proposed a tenfold reduction in gas fees in a bid to improve the DEX trader experience.

The battle of the DEXs is hotting up, as BNB Chain-based decentralized exchange Aster has helped its parent chain to surpass Hyperliquid’s 24-hour perpetual trading volume.

BNB Chain’s 24-hour perpetual volume stands at $21.6 billion, overtaking Hyperliquid’s $10.7 billion, according to data from Dune Analytics. EdgeX and Light followed closely with $8.2 billion and $6.2 billion, respectively.

In terms of overall trading volume, the two exchanges are jockeying for position. Per CoinGecko data, Hyperliquid’s $609 million in 24-hour volume puts it at seventh place among the DEXs, while Aster sits at eighth place with $583 million in 24-hour volume.

Aster’s native token has shot up by 41.4% in the past 24 hours, taking it to a market cap of $3.9 billion and making it the 47th largest cryptocurrency by market cap, per CoinGecko data.

Hyperliquid’s HYPE is currently down 6.2% on the day, though with a market cap of $12.1 billion, it sits considerably higher in the rankings as the 20th biggest cryptocurrency.

On prediction market Myriad, launched by Decrypt’s parent company DASTAN, users paint a mixed picture of Aster’s prospects. Predictors put an 87% chance on Aster being ranked among the top 40 coins on CoinMarketCap this month, but over 60% of predictions expect it to remain below $4 through November.

A passing phase?

Interest in Aster was piqued by Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao’s vocal support of the DEX in a tweet earlier this week, in which he praised its “good start.”

“The recent surge in BSC perpetual volumes and DEX activity is not merely a passing phase,” Cecilia Hsueh, Chief Strategy Officer at crypto exchange MEXC, told Decrypt.

Technical upgrades, incentive programs, and integration with the Binance ecosystem are some of the key aspects that give this meta durability, Hseuh added.

The sudden uptick in interest in BSC-based decentralized exchanges, specifically Aster and other BSC-based platforms, led to a triple-digit rally for several altcoins in just two days, Decrypt previously reported.

All eyes are now on the latest proposal from BNB Chain validators, who are looking to slash transaction fees from 0.1 gwei to 0.05 gwei, with the intention of accelerating block intervals from 750 ms to 450 ms, as announced in Tuesday’s tweet.

Gas fees matter.

They decide where traders build, where liquidity flows, and where innovation happens.

That’s why validators on BNB Chain are proposing to halve fees and accelerate block speeds, keeping BNB Smart Chain (BSC) competitive with the fastest chains in crypto.

BNB… pic.twitter.com/sCdHutFfrJ

— BNB Chain (@BNBCHAIN) September 23, 2025

The proposal for a tenfold reduction in gas fees strengthens BSC’s competitive positioning, Hseuh noted.

While BNB Chain is actively attempting to siphon interest into DEX and away from Hyperliquid, it still has a long way to go, as the latter is still a market giant when looking at longer-term data points.

Hyperliquid’s $326.77 billion 30-day perpetual volume is uncontested and more than five times that of Binance’s $60.12 billion market share. And just a few weeks ago, legacy and crypto giants including VanEck, StateStreet, Sky, Ethena, Agora, and others were competing to submit Hyperliquid’s USDH stablecoin proposal.

Still, Hesuh believes that Hyperliquid’s leadership is “no longer uncontested.” While the interest in decentralized exchanges helps Hyperliquid, it must now “fight harder to preserve its edge.”

Top three catalysts that could fuel the next BNB price rally

by admin September 24, 2025

The Binance Coin price is once again in the four-digit territory. With momentum building, several strong catalysts could drive the next rally for the coin.

Summary

  • BNB price could soar to new heights based on three factors: lower gas fees, institutional accumulation, and bullish technical indicators.
  • BNB Chain validators have proposed a 50% gas fee reduction and faster block times, measures expected to boost network activity.
  • Firms like B Strategy, Nano Labs, and CEA Industries are accumulating BNB, with rising ETF interest signaling broader adoption.
  • BNB is up over 15% in 30 days. While RSI and MACD remain bullish, a breakout above $1,026 could open the door to $1,050–$1,080.

The Binance Coin price is trading above the $1,000 mark once again, showing renewed strength after dipping to $975 earlier this week. The recovery reflects growing investor confidence and a resurgence in buying pressure. Looking ahead, three major catalysts could drive the next BNB rally.

50% gas fee reduction proposal

The BNB (BNB) Chain community recently proposed a major network upgrade: cutting minimum gas fees by 50% from 0.1 Gwei to 0.05 Gwei and reducing block intervals from 750ms to 450ms. These changes would make the Binance Smart Chain faster and cheaper, attracting more traders, developers, and protocols.

With fees potentially dropping by 90% to just $0.001 per transaction in the future, BSC could become one of the most cost-efficient networks in crypto. Historically, lower fees have led to spikes in user activity and transaction volume, which, in turn, could increase BNB’s demand and subsequently, its price.

Rising institutional fuel BNB price boost

Institutional adoption is playing a growing role in BNB’s market trajectory. Major players like B Strategy, CEA Industries, and Nano Labs have recently disclosed substantial BNB holdings. Their long-term positions suggest confidence in the asset’s future, beyond retail speculation.

Furthermore, demand for a BNB-based ETF is heating up. REX-Osprey filed to launch the first BNB staking ETF last month, and if approved, it could open the door for broader institutional inflows, adding sustained upward pressure on BNB’s price.

BNB technical outlook

BNB price chart | crypto.news

According to market data from crypto.news, BNB is trading at $1,012 at press time, with weekly and monthly gains of 5.8% and 15.4% respectively. Technical indicators remain positive, with its Relative Strength Index (RSI) at 65.77, still below overbought levels, while the MACD shows a bullish trend.

If bulls manage to break the $1,026 resistance, BNB price could target $1,050–$1,080. However, holding above $1,000 remains crucial to avoid slipping toward $991 or even $944. For now, the structure leans bullish, pending confirmation in the coming sessions.

Bitcoin Is Slipping, But BNB Is on Fire: Here’s Why

by admin September 23, 2025

In brief

  • The crypto market continues to struggle today, extending yesterday’s losses.
  • Bitcoin has dropped below $112,000, with the market flashing bearish signals.
  • Meanwhile, there’s one coin in the top 10 currently defying trends and turning heads: BNB.

The crypto market, including Bitcoin, is today still dealing with the effects of yesterday’s massive liquidation cascade, though the bleeding has slowed.

The total cryptocurrency market capitalization sits at $3.9 trillion, down a slight 0.6% over the past 24 hours, according to CoinGecko. Not bad considering yesterday was the year’s largest liquidation event with over $1.7 billion in leveraged long positions being forcibly closed.

Much like yesterday, though, the tradfi market is faring much better: The S&P 500 is coming off yet another all-time high, showing risk appetite remains alive in equities despite the weakness in crypto markets. Meanwhile, gold reached a new all-time high of $3,790 today as investors hedge against mounting geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

But some coins are seemingly immune to the crypto market chaos, and that’s apparently the case for BNB, Binance’s native token. BNB is by far the best-performing crypto in the top 10 over the last week, up an impressive 6% in the last seven days—and a whopping 17% over the last 30. All while Bitcoin is struggling. What’s going on? Let’s look at the charts.

Bitcoin (BTC) price: Testing critical support

Bitcoin’s price action today is a continuation of yesterday’s FUD, with the flagship cryptocurrency slipping 0.80% to $111,837.

The daily candle shows an attempted recovery that failed—opening at $112,741, Bitcoin managed to push as high as $113,344 before sellers took control, driving it down to test the $111,571 support level.

If Bitcoin does not find buyers at these prices and bounce, this could lead to more bad news for the bulls out there.

Bitcoin price data. Image: Tradingview

The technical picture shows mounting bearish pressure, though not without hope for bulls.

The Average Directional Index, or ADX, sits at 18 points, which suggests that the bullish trend that took Bitcoin to new heights several weeks ago has weakened.

ADX measures trend strength, regardless of direction, with readings over 25 suggesting established trends in place. When ADX readings stay below 20, it typically means the market is directionless, consolidating before the next major move. For traders, this signals a wait-and-see approach might be prudent, as the market lacks conviction in either direction.

Bitcoin’s Relative Strength Index, or RSI, is at 42, placing BTC in slightly bearish territory without being oversold. RSI measures price momentum on a scale of 0-100, with readings above 70 suggesting overbought conditions and below 30 signaling an oversold market that often precede bounces. At 42, we’re in that uncomfortable middle ground—not low enough to trigger bargain hunting, but high enough for profit-taking.

The Squeeze Momentum Indicator likewise shows that the current price movement seems to place Bitcoin in a bearish impulse phase, which usually points to a more sustained correction before prices climb back up. In other words, not-so-good news for permabulls—at least in the short term.

On Myriad—a prediction market built by Decrypt’s parent company Dastan—traders are nearly split on Bitcoin’s near-term direction. The market “Bitcoin’s next hit: moon to $125K or dip to $105K?” shows the odds of a move to $125K have slipped down to 42%, falling from 69% just five days ago.

On the plus side for bulls, Myriad users remain confident that BTC does not dip below $105K before the end of the month, placing odds at 83% that Bitcoin manages to stay above that mark with seven days to go in the historically bad month for markets.

Key Levels are the same as yesterday’s forecast:

  • Immediate support: $111,000 (today’s low)
  • Strong support: $108,500 (psychological level)
  • Immediate resistance: $115,000 (opening price area)
  • Strong resistance: $118,000 (recent highs)

BNB price: Defying the market

But while Bitcoin stumbles, BNB is shining.

The coin, formerly known as Binance Coin, is the native token of the BNB blockchain, formerly known as Binance Chain. As you might have guessed, the coin was indeed created and issued by Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume.

BNB is today the lone coin in the top 10 by market cap in the green, surging 2.6% in the last 24 hours, currently trading for $1,013—just below its all-time high of $1,079. In the last seven days, the coin is up by more than 6% in a display of relative strength that’s catching traders’ attention.

BNB price data. Image: Tradingview

Why is BNB pumping? It likely has a lot to do with the rise of Aster, a decentralized perpetual futures exchange on the BNB blockchain that’s quickly gained enough popularity to challenge what was until very recently the leading DEX for perps, Hyperliquid.

Since BNB is the native gas token on the BNB network, demand for the token typically rises and falls right along with demand for network usage. And right now, there’s nothing hotter in crypto than Aster on BNB. The Aster token itself is up an astronomical 47% today alone, and the DEX it powers recently flipped Hyperliquid in daily revenue generated from trading fees.

All that said, the technical indicators for BNB paint a decisively bullish picture.

The ADX at 43 shows a strong trend in place. The indicator alone suggests BNB’s uptrend has serious legs, and fighting it could be costly for bears. The price of BNB fell today to near its lowest point in a week, then bounced right back up again, displaying just how solid its price trend resistance is at the moment.

The RSI at 66 sits in the sweet spot for continued gains. While approaching overbought territory (above 70), there’s still room to run before automatic profit-taking from traders generally kicks in. Experienced traders know that, in strong trends, coins like BNB could push higher before needing a breather.

Traders also rely on exponential moving averages, or EMAs, to give them a sense of where price supports and resistances are for a given asset over the short, medium, and long term. And, in this case, the EMAs for BNB tell a compelling story.

At the moment, the 50-day EMA (short term) is well above the 200-day EMA (the long term). What this means for traders is that BNB is in a setup where short-term momentum overwhelms long-term resistance. What’s more, the current price of BNB is well above both averages, showing that the bullish move has strong momentum.

And all of that is happening against the background of a crypto market seemingly on the ropes and in need of a serious breather. The fact that BNB is rising despite negative market momentum strengthens the bullish case—it’s swimming against the current successfully.

Key Levels:

  • Immediate support: $970 (recent breakout point)
  • Strong support: $900 (psychological target and EMA40)
  • Immediate resistance: $1,030 (today’s high)
  • Strong resistance: $1,079 (all time high)

BNB is Soaring: Here’s Where Analysts See It Headed Next

by admin September 22, 2025

In brief

  • BNB climbed more than 10% over the weekend to an all-time high of $1,079, doubling Bitcoin and Solana’s year-to-date gains.
  • Analysts cite renewed institutional demand, Binance’s partnerships, and a stronger regulatory outlook as key drivers.
  • Both bulls and bears see room for correction, with some warning of a dip below $1,000 before longer-term gains.

BNB continues to outperform the broader crypto market, with analysts suggesting that regulatory and fundamental developments, coupled with institutional demand, are driving the token forward.

The asset, which can be used to offset fees on the Binance exchange, surged more than 10% over the weekend to a new all-time high of $1,079, CoinGecko data shows. It’s now more than double that of Bitcoin and Solana’s 22% year-to-date gains.

“Renewed institutional demand” and “improved sentiment around Binance’s regulatory outlook” are two significant reasons contributing to the rise, MEXC’s chief analyst Shawn Young told Decrypt.

“The exchange has recently strengthened compliance measures, settled some key cases, and is signalling greater alignment with global standards,” he said. “For institutions, this reduces headline risk and makes exposure to BNB more palatable.”

Binance has continued to forge ahead with new partnerships, including with investment firm Franklin Templeton, which has helped lift the token’s profile, Decrypt was told.

The deal, inked earlier this month between the pair, will see a new slew of yet-to-be-announced crypto products “tailored for a broad range of investors.”

Digital Asset Treasuries companies, including publicly traded consumer products firm CEA Industries, meanwhile, have begun to accumulate the token in the second half of this year, often to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars.

Like Bitcoin and Solana, BNB could benefit from increased demand from larger players as companies look to crypto to support their balance sheets.

Sean Dawson, head of research at on-chain options platform Derive, told Decrypt the token’s performance also lies in Binance’s 40% market share of spot trading volume.

When asked whether the token would experience a sell-off, Dawson added that, “It’s only a matter of time before a pullback.”

MEXC’s Young agrees, anticipating a slowdown in the token’s ascent with potential for a correction below $1,000 in the short-term.

Both, however, remain bullish on BNB, supported by broader crypto market sentiment and institutional demand, they said.

‘New BNB’ Triggers Epic FOMO With Parabolic 7,000% Jump in 4 Days, Binance Founder Co-Signs

by admin September 22, 2025

Aster’s token debut is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about events in the 2025 crypto calendar. Launched Sept. 17 at a TGE price of just over two cents, $ASTER surged by almost 7,000% in less than four days, peaking at around $2 before cooling off.

Trading data shows that more than $2.9 billion worth of tokens changed hands as speculators rushed in, chasing what some are already calling the next BNB-like success story.

This comparison is no coincidence. Aster is a decentralized perpetual exchange incubated by YZi Labs (formerly Binance Labs), with Binance founder CZ personally amplifying its launch. Within days, his feed had become an Aster/BNB echo chamber, with nods to both projects as twin pillars of the next cycle.

My entire feed: Aster, BNB, Aster, BNB, Aster… 😆

Hard change of topic: @GiggleAcademy has more than 2000 free story books, each available in 30+ languages.

Arabic UI coming soon.

Crypto goes up, free education goes up. https://t.co/P06XDG4Lek

— CZ 🔶 BNB (@cz_binance) September 21, 2025

This level of visible support is unusual for CZ, who has mostly distanced himself from new tokens, which only fuels speculation that Aster might be positioned as “BNB 2.0” in narrative terms.

ASTER tokenomics explained

Beneath the hype, the fundamentals appear designed for long-term popularity. The tokenomics outline an 8 billion total supply, with 53.5% allocated to community programs.

Around 704 million tokens were unlocked at TGE, while the rest will vest over seven years. Airdrops were directed at early program participants and loyalty earners, creating a strong grassroots base. The DEX itself sets itself apart with its hidden orders designed to prevent frontrunning.

The timing could not have been more precise: ASTER’s breakthrough occurred as BNB surpassed its all-time high of over $1,000, triggering a reflexive FOMO loop throughout the Binance-linked ecosystem.

For a long time, Hyperliquid dominated the perpetual swap narrative almost uncontested. Now, Aster’s sudden rise is forcing a reevaluation of not just perpetual trading venues, but also the scale at which founder-backed ecosystems can create outsized winners.

BNB Chain’s New Gold Protocol hit by $2m launch-day hack

BNB Chain’s New Gold Protocol hit by $2m launch-day hack

by admin September 19, 2025

AI-driven, self-described “DeFi 3.0” staking protocol The New Gold Protocol, built “with sustainability at its core,” was hacked hours after launch. The hacking took place on Sept. 18, 2025. The hacker exploited two flaws in the design of NGP. The case demonstrates how negligence in protocol design may doom a project from day one.

Summary

  • Nearly $2 million in crypto was stolen from the just-launched New Gold Protocol platform via a flash loan attack.
  • Stolen money was sent to Tornado Cash. The hacker is not identified.
  • The team behind the New Gold Protocol keeps silent.
  • The biggest flash loan attacks resulted in over $100 million in losses.

What is New Gold Protocol?

The New Gold Protocol is a staking protocol built on top of the BNB blockchain and launched on Sept. 18.

One of the problems that The New Gold Protocol aimns to solve is the “lack of pricing rules.” According to the whitepaper, many DeFi protocols “lack standardized mechanisms for behavior pricing, resulting in volatility and disorder.”

The “next-generation DeFi 3.0” New Gold Protocol was meant to outperform competitors that do not have intrinsic earnings and whose governance models are inefficient. The NGP team saw the way to achieve transparency, fairness, and sustainability through AI optimization.

The New Gold Protocol was striving to create an inclusive staking platform with a transparent, automated environment sustained via smart contracts. Due to token burns, NGP promoted its native token as deflationary. It promised real-yield distributions instead of inflationary and speculative incentives. The NGP whitepaper suggested that transparency ensures accountability. However, it turned out that this was not enough.

How was NGP hacked?

The hacking took place shortly after the launch of the NGP token. The amount of NGP tokens that could be bought was limited to prevent price-inflation attacks, but the hacker found a way to bypass it.

According to analysts from blockchain security company Hacken, six hours before the attack the hacker accumulated a high number of assets via flash loans using different accounts. Flash loans are a feature popular on DeFi platforms. They allow borrowing crypto assets quickly without collateral. Borrowed funds may be used for arbitrage trading, stealing funds from a protocol, or price manipulation. As Hacken notes, the damage caused through flash loan attacks may amount to millions of dollars.

The attacker used an oracle-manipulation tactic. The protocol determined the NGP token price by scanning its reserves in the DEX’s liquidity pool, which allowed the attacker to manipulate the price. The attacker began swapping BUSD to NGP on PancakePair, which pumped NGP’s price quickly.

The New Gold Protocol contained two limits: a buying limit and a cooldown limit for buyers. Both were bypassed as the attacker used the “dEaD” address as the recipient.

The next move was draining nearly all the BUSD tokens from the protocol via selling NGP. It left The New Gold Protocol with almost no funds. The attacker then gained $1.9 million worth of crypto and immediately swapped the funds to BNB-based ETH.

According to the Hacken team, the following actions included depositing stolen funds to Tornado Cash through Ethereum bridged with Across. The action sent the NGP price up while leaving the protocol with only a small amount of funds. Soon, the NGP token price plummeted 88%.

Unfortunately, despite ambitious plans to reshape the DeFi sector and build a sustainable product, The New Gold Protocol neglected its own security and faced severe damage. The company did not comment on the issue. The latest tweet reads “stability meets growth.” It was published several hours before the attack and now looks like a bitter joke.

Other flash loan attacks

As soon as flash loans were introduced, flash loan attacks quickly became one of the tactics used by criminals.

The biggest attack took place in March 2023. The hacker managed to steal around $197 million in Wrapped Bitcoin, Wrapped Ethereum, and other assets from the Euler Finance protocol. The hacker was using an error in the platform’s calculation rate. The funds were sent to an address used earlier by the notorious DPRK hackers, the Lazarus Group. What made this case especially notable is that the hacker voluntarily returned all the funds and apologized.

Other notable examples include the Cream Finance hack ($130 million stolen in 2021) and Polter ($12 million stolen in 2024). A flash loan was part of the scheme used in 2025 to wipe out $223 million in crypto from the Cetus protocol based on Sui.

BNB Chain hits record monthly users as on-chain activity explodes

by admin September 18, 2025

Summary

  • BNB Chain reached 51.6 million monthly active addresses on Sept. 17, with fees and revenue up more than 23% in the past month.
  • The surge comes as Binance founder Changpeng Zhao plans a $1 billion BNB Treasury Company to support top institutional projects.
  • The BNB token hit $1,000 on Sept. 18, amid speculation about Zhao’s possible return to Binance.

BNB Chain saw record activity with 51.6 million monthly addresses alongside rising revenue over the past month. BNB hit $1,000 as Zhao outlined plans for a $1 billion Treasury Company, fueling rumors about his return to Binance.

BNB Chain, the blockchain behind Binance‘s native token (BNB), reached a new milestone on Sept. 17, when monthly active addresses hit 51.9 million, surpassing a previous all-time high recorded in September 2024, according to Token Terminal data.

BNB Chain’s active users monthly | Source: Token Terminal

The surge in activity comes alongside growth in network metrics, as over the past 30 days, fees collected on the chain reached $13.2 million, a more than 24% jump compared with the previous period, while revenue reached $1.4 million, up 23%, indicating that more users are interacting with the network.

BNB Chain’s transaction count weekly | Source: Token Terminal

By transaction count, BNB Chain also keeps reinforcing its position in the top three layer 1 networks, according to Token Terminal. While Internet Computer leads with 412.2 billion transactions, Solana follows it at 354.5 billion, and BNB Chain with the transaction count at 9.2 billion.

As of September, the network supports over 1,095 projects across sectors, including DeFi, gaming, and NFTs, with the total value locked in in BNB Chain standing at $7.68 billion, still down around 65% from 2021’s peak.

Speaking with crypto.news, Marwan Kawadri, DeFi lead and head of EMEA at BNB Chain, attributed the growth to a big user base of 4 million daily active users and more than 625 million unique addresses, as well as deep global liquidity with more than $11 billion in TVL and stablecoin circulation.

Kawadri added that the team is now aiming to reach a “CEX-like experience” so that transactions “will be confirmed in under 150 milliseconds.”

“Overall, BNB Chain is targeting to become a settlement layer and financial infrastructure for all assets, it will not be specifically limited to any particular trading scenario. The direction and initial form of this chain are still continuously evolving, and we will explore and build this together with the community.”

Marwan Kawadri

The growth in on-chain activity coincides with a rise in BNB’s market value as the token recently hit a new all-time high of $962. Part of this momentum seems to be tied to announcements from Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, who outlined plans for the upcoming BNB Treasury Company in an interview with Leon Lu, founder of B Strategy.

As crypto.news reported earlier, Zhao described BNB as a “true utility coin,” highlighting its multi-chain compatibility and its use across trading discounts, yield generation, launch pools, launchpads, and the Binance Alpha ecosystem. He also emphasized BNB’s role across both centralized and decentralized platforms, including cross-border payments and dApps worldwide, noting that the ecosystem has untapped potential in regions such as Southeast Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Back as CEO

The planned BNB Treasury Company is expected to raise $1 billion with backing from YZi Labs. Zhao said the initiative will target institutional demand, focusing support on strong, well-positioned projects. “We’ve been approached by probably more than 50 companies for BNB specifically…we will only do that to a very small number of DAT companies. Basically, the very top, strong ones,” Zhao said in the podcast.

Speculation about Zhao’s possible return to Binance has also grown. On Sept. 17, the Binance founder updated his X profile, changing it from “ex-@binance” back to “@binance.” Zhao stepped down as CEO nearly two years ago following a $4.3 billion settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice in November 2023 over anti-money laundering violations.

Reports also suggest that the DOJ may soon lift compliance restrictions on Binance, which has fueled rumors about his potential return, though Zhao has stated he does not plan to resume the CEO role.

Data from crypto.news shows BNB hit an all-time high of $1,000 on Sept. 18, setting a new historical milestone for the BNB Chain ecosystem. As of press time, the token is up 3.7% in the past 24 hours, trading around $989, and it has risen over 10% over the past week.

Crypto Investor Turns $1k Into $1M In 8 Years, as BNB hits $1,000 ATH

by admin September 18, 2025

A long-term cryptocurrency investor has turned $1,000 into $1 million, underscoring the payoff of patient holding strategies in digital assets.

The “diamond hand” cryptocurrency holder turned their original $1,000 BNB (BNB) investment into over $1 million, marking a 1,000-fold return in eight years.

The investor acquired their stash for just $1,000 when the Binance ecosystem’s native token traded for around $1 back in 2017, according to blockchain data platform Lookonchain.

Despite the 1,000-fold return, the trader continues holding their BNB tokens instead of taking profits, according to data from blockchain intelligence platform Nansen.

The near $1 million profit comes as the BNB token rose to a new all-time high of $1,005 on Tuesday, according to Cointelegraph data, signaling growing investor expectations for an incoming altcoin season.

Three weeks ago, Raoul Pal, founder and CEO of Global Macro Investor, predicted that the crypto market is in the “waiting room” ahead of the next phase of the price discovery stage, which may extend the market cycle top to the first or second quarter of 2026.

“Our work suggests (probabilistically speaking) that the cycle extends into Q1 2026 and possibly Q2 2026 due to slow business cycle forcing more liquidity for longer,” he said in an Aug. 29 X post.

BNB all-time high driven by native utility

A combination of growth factors contributed to BNB’s new all-time high above $1,000, including the token’s native “utility,” according to Marwan Kawadri, DeFi lead and head of EMEA at BNB Chain.

BNB is a “unique” network token with growing utility in centralized exchanges, seeing increased demand from institutional investors due to the “growing momentum of DATs coming in with a focus on high-quality assets like BNB,” Kawadri told Cointelegraph.

“[BNB] continues to see strong growth momentum: more developers, more protocols, more capital, more users.”

This creates a “flywheel for the network and native token,” he added.

“Watching #BNB go from $0.10 ICO price 8 years ago to today’s $1000 is something words cannot explain,” said Binance co-founder and former CEO Changpeng Zhao in a Thursday X post.

“We had our challenges along the way, but we worked hard, we built, and we held,” he added.

BNB price hits $1,000 ATH on growing institutional demand, where will it go from here?

by admin September 18, 2025

The Binance Coin (BNB) has finally broken the $1,000 barrier, hitting the four-digit mark for the first time in history.

Summary

  • BNB price hits $1,005, setting a new all-time high amid bullish momentum and favorable macroeconomic conditions.
  • Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) celebrated the milestone as a true “community effort.”
  • Institutional Interest in Binance Coin has skyrocketed with notable names like B Strategy, CEA Industries, and Nano Labs betting on long-term accumulation.
  • Technical outlook remains bullish, suggesting  a potential run to $1,300.

Binance Coin has soared above the $1,000 mark, hitting a new all-time high of $1,005, driven by a mix of institutional demand, macroeconomic shifts, and surging investor confidence. This milestone marks a major moment for the token, which has been on a relentless uptrend over the past few weeks.

The price rally comes in the wake of the Fed 25bps interest rate cut, which has injected new liquidity into risk markets, including cryptocurrencies. Coupled with renewed optimism in the crypto sector, BNB (BNB) has solidified its position among the top five cryptocurrencies by market cap.

Reacting to the surge, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) shared a heartfelt message with the community on X, reflecting on BNB’s journey from its $0.10 to $1,000. He called the moment “something words cannot explain,” and went on to thank the community for their unwavering support.

“This is just the beginning. To the next 10000x together!,” CZ added.

Institutional tailwinds fuel BNB price boost

Institutional demand for Binance Coin has played a major role in this latest price pump. In August, Nasdaq-listed investment firm B Strategy announced plans to raise $1 billion for the asset’s accumulation via a dedicated treasury company, backed by YZi Labs. The new vehicle will hold BNB in its treasury and strategically invest in the broader BNB ecosystem.

CZ also recently noted that more than 50 Digital Asset Treasury (DAT) firms have expressed similar interest in the asset, signaling growing confidence from major players looking to gain regulated exposure to the asset. Meanwhile, several firms like CEA Industries, Nano Labs, and Windtree Therapeutics have already revealed their long-term positions.

In parallel, Binance Smart Chain’s Total Value Locked (TVL) has increased to $7.93 billion, reflecting increased DeFi activity and liquidity on the network, a key indicator of rising user engagement and real-world use cases.

Adding to the optimism, reports allege that the U.S. Department of Justice is close to lifting its compliance oversight on Binance, a move that could further bolster investor confidence and reduce regulatory overhang.

Technical analysis shows bulls in command

BNB trades at $998.04 by press time, according to market data from crypto.news. The altcoin has witnessed a little correction following its massive uptick past $1,005. However, the momentum remains bullish, with 24-hour gains of 4.46% and roughly 11.2% over the past seven days.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) sits at 77.02, indicating overbought conditions, which may lead to short-term consolidation. However, a bullish MACD crossover and widening gap between the MACD and signal lines suggest strong upside potential.

Fuelled by institutional interest, BNB could break above $1,100 with the next psychological target at $1,300. On the downside, support lies at $950, $880, and $900.
