97% of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 cheaters banned within 30-minutes, Activision claims

by admin October 7, 2025

With the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s open beta, countless FPS fans have dove eagerly into the fast-paced arcade shooter ahead of its full launch on the 25th October. Cheaters have been plaguing the experience as they tend to do, but Activision claim they’re being quickly dealt with.

In a post on X, the official Call of Duty updates account released a lengthy statement on the cheater problem. According to this post, 97 percent of Black Ops 7 beta cheaters are being banned within 30-minutes. Not only that, they claim fewer than 1 percent of cheating attempts reached a match, and those who did were removed within minutes.

Here’s the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 gameplay trailer. Watch on YouTube

This post also spotlights cheat providers themselves, claiming that many of them are now labeling their cheats as “unusable”. The post also goes on to claim that over 40 cheat developers have been shut down since the launch of Black Ops 6. The post also calls for players to stay diligent by reporting others they believe are using cheats in matches, to help keep the cheating problem at bay.

As Call of Duty fans will know, the back and forth battle between Activision and Call of Duty cheaters has been a long and arduous one. Activision’s proprietary Ricochet anti-cheat software is constantly tweaked and updated, but every now and again cheating software is updated to account for the latest version of Ricochet and the cheating problem rears its ugly head again.

It’s not just Call of Duty either. Battlefield 6 had its own cheating problem during the open beta. Both games require Secure Boot to be enabled on your PC to run, which has proven to be a step too far for some players (or their hardware).

It seems, if Activision is right about these impressive looking stats, that right now is a moment where the company has the upper hand in the war against cheating. Whether this remains true by the time Black Ops 7 launches later this month remains to be seen, but let’s hope things stay largely cheater free for the foreseeable future.

You can’t type “Arc Raiders” into Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 beta’s in-game chat, but you are allowed to talk about Battlefield 6

by admin October 6, 2025

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 players hopping into the beta right now are taking in all the sights of Activision’s upcoming AAA FPS, though one thing they won’t be able to see is the name of another massive release coming out this year. That’s because the words: “Arc Raiders” are censored in the game’s chat function.

Censoring words in-game isn’t anything new, and is usually used to block out profanity, toxic terminology, and other potentially offensive words from multiplayer lobbies. Blocking out game names is a strange one though, especially given the fact that Black Ops 7’s biggest competitor this year Battlefield 6 is not censored. It’s worth noting the words “Arc” and “Raiders” on their own don’t get censored, it’s only when you put them both together where censoring occurs.

Here’s Arc Raiders censored, and strangely enough Battlefield 6 uncensored. | Image credit: Eurogamer

A clip of this censorship in-action has been circulating online, and Eurogamer confirmed that the term Arc Raiders is starred out in the Black Ops 7 beta. Funnily enough, Arc Raiders players found the term “Arc Raiders” also got automatically censored from the EA App chat feature, while other game names like Call of Duty did not. This was quickly patched out once publicised.

Check out the pre-order trailer for Arc Raiders here.Watch on YouTube

Aside from this small, peculiar quirk, the Call of Duty beta seems to be going down rather well. Over the weekend new tweaks and game modes were added to the game to the joy of its community, and while there were initial reports of cheaters running rampant, Activision has claimed the vast majority of them have been dealt with.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is set to release on the 14th November, so this early taste of the game is meant to test features out and tide the ravenous FPS community over until next month. Arc Raiders, on the other hand, is set to release on the 30th October, and has an open beta on the weekend starting the 17th October. It’s brilliant fun and well worth trying out, at least if the first beta was any indication of quality.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 trials new “more varied” matchmaking and tweaks TTK on popular weapons

by admin October 5, 2025

As it gears up for what it calls an “exciting day of the Black Ops 7 Early Access Beta coming later today”, Treyarch has some “important multiplayer playlist changes” to share with us as the beta continues.

As the developer explains, beta tests are run ahead of full launch to “gather critical in-game data and feedback” to ensure games – especially those with heavy multiplayer aspects – provide “the best experience possible”.

That’s why the team is working with the community to address early issues and making “some updates” to its playlist plans.

Black Ops 7 – Launch Multiplayer Maps Flythrough..Watch on YouTube

That’s why this weekend, in the Open Moshpit playlist, you’ll find “skill consideration is drastically reduced when matchmaking, with the goal of providing more varied match experiences and outcomes”. As Treyarch explains, this playlist will “match players with and against players of more varied skill differences than in the current Multiplayer matchmaking system”. This’ll apply to all maps and modes across that playlist.

While not explicitly confirmed, this suggests that the other playlist, Moshpit, will feature more traditional skill-based matchmaking. You can also expect additional Perk changes – “including slot assignment” – when the game releases next month.

“While these updates will not be in the Beta, we’ve heard your feedback and will be sharing more about them on the road to launch,” the developer said. “We can also confirm that we will be making reloading while Wall Jumping default behaviour for launch.”

Last but certainly not least, the team has been “closely following feedback” from Black Ops 7 players on time-to-kill (TTK), which is why you’ll see changes to the Dravec 45 and M8A1.

“We currently see these weapons well ahead of the pack in our TTK data, and they also have very high usage, which means they are contributing heavily to combat pacing right now in the Beta,” the update continued. “The goal of the changes outlined below is to bring their average performance closer to the other weapons currently available.

“Time-to-Kill (TTK) and overall weapon balance has been a conversation we’ve been keeping an eye on, along with evaluating in-game data from day one of the Beta. While we’re starting the Beta with a TTK in the range of Black Ops 6, we’re aware that some players feel it may be slightly faster than desired. As a result, we’ll be releasing a weapon balance pass in the coming days to adjust TTK and ensure all weapons available in the Beta are competitive within both their class and their intended role within Black Ops 7.”

Here’s the rest of the patch notes:

Maps

  • Permanently opened several doors throughout The Forge and Cortex. (See the mini-maps below for specific callouts.)
  • Increased the time that automatic doors remain open before closing from 2 seconds to 4 seconds.
  • Increased the range at which doors will open automatically when approaching.

UI

  • Increased visible range of the minimap by 15%.

Movement

  • Increased allowable angle for side Wall Jump to reduce accidental forward Wall Jumps.

Spawns

  • Adjusted spawn logic for enemy player influence on nearby spawns.

Progression

  • Increased Weapon XP earn rates for both Multiplayer and Zombies.
  • Increased Overclock earn rate for the Skewer Scorestreak.
  • Increased Overclock earn rate for the Drone Pod Field Upgrade.

Stability

  • Addressed server stability issues with Training Course.
  • Addressed a stability issue related to turrets.
  • Addressed potential server stability issues when playing Overload.
  • Addressed server stability issues with the Gravemaker.
  • Addressed server stability issues with the Skewer.
  • Addressed server stability issues with the Vigilance Perk.

Zombies

  • Resolved an issue that prevented the Rampage Inducer from affecting gameplay after Round 55.
  • Addressed an issue in Training Course that could prevent players from reattempting Training Station 2.
  • Addressed a stability issue related to Toxic Growth.
  • Addressed some stability issues related to Exfil.
  • Addressed some stability issues when leaving a match.

Known Issues

  • Players are temporarily unable to complete an Exfil in Zombies Survival and Training Course playlists. Solo players are still able to Save and Quit to selectively end their match.

You can read more about the adjustments to individual weapons and maps on the website.

This week, the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 beta began in earnest, giving eager players the chance to try the game out before its launch on 14th November. But despite the beta requiring both TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot enabled on your PC to play, which Treyarch stated was needed to “create a more secure environment that catches more cheating”, within hours clips started appearing on social media showing off wall hacks and aim bots working in the beta.

Black Ops 6 On Game Pass Cost Microsoft $300 Million In Lost Sales

by admin October 4, 2025

Last year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was the first entry in the hit multiplayer military shooter to launch day-one on Game Pass in what reportedly turned out to be an expensive experiment for Microsoft. According to Bloomberg, making the game available for free to paid subscribers on console and PC cost the tech giant $300 million in lost sales of the 2024 best-seller. That data point adds some interesting context to Microsoft’s controversial decision to hike the price of Game Pass Ultimate by 50 percent this week.

A defining feature of Game Pass was the decision early on to release first-party games like Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite on the service day-and-date. Bloomberg reports that this move was “controversial internally” due to the likelihood of cannibalizing sales of big games that take a lot of time and money to develop. The Verge reported last year that a similar debate arose around the decision of whether to put Call of Duty on Game Pass or not.

The former long-time head of Activision, Bobby Kotick, went on record during the 2023 FTC trial over Microsoft’s acquisition of the company saying that he didn’t think adding games like Call of Duty to subscription services made “commercial sense.” “I have a general aversion to the idea of multi-game subscription services,” he said at the time. “Maybe part of it is being in Los Angeles and having large, big media companies move their content to these subscription streaming services and the business results have suffered.”

But following the acquisition, Microsoft did exactly that. According to Circana’s U.S. market data, sales of 2024’s Black Ops 6 were 23 percent higher than Modern Warfare 3 sales over the same period, but 82 percent of those sales were on PlayStation compared to Xbox and PC. Subscription gaming services also saw a 16 percent jump year-over-year following the release of Black Ops 6.

If the move cost the company $300 million in lost sales, Microsoft would have needed around 15 million players to subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate for one month to make that up, or just 1.25 million over the course of an entire year. The numbers would be more dramatic for the even cheaper Game Pass PC tier where Call of Duty is also now available day-and-date. The price hikes this week change that math. Now, even if Black Ops 7 saw a similar drop in sales, Microsoft would need only 10 million new sign-ups for Ultimate in November to fill the gap, or just 834,000 over the length of a year.

This week’s Game Pass overhaul shows Microsoft is essentially continuing to back off its original day-one commitment. Game Pass Premium is the same price Game Pass Ultimate was a few years ago, but will only get first-party Xbox games a year after they’re out and it’s not guaranteed to get Call of Duty games at all. This might not be the last major change we see to the service in the near future, either. The company is reportedly testing a “free” ad-supported tier that will be exclusively cloud gaming and could keep raising prices on the higher tiers if it thinks a core audience will stick around.

Bloomberg reports that Microsoft CFO Amy Hood has “asked Xbox to find other ways to increase profit.” Instead of growing its share of the gaming market, the company now seems content to extract more from those already paying it.

Every Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 perk and combat specialty

by admin October 3, 2025

Another Call of Duty, another opportunity for Activision to update its vision for perks. Black Ops 7 perks function much like they did in last year’s Black Ops 6: Pick three from a huge pool of bonuses, either ignoring or targeting a “combat speciality” bonus for using perks of the same type.

The big change to perks this year is the addition of hybrid specialities, alternative bonuses to the three main combat specialities that let you mix and match perk types a bit. There are also more perks at launch than last year (27 vs 21) and some existing ones have moved around tiers, but if you got comfortable with perk combinations in Blops 6, most of them will still work the same in Blops 7.

There are three perk types: Offense (red), Stealth (Blue), and Support (Green). In Blops 6, these categories were called Enforcer, Recon, and Strategist to match their associated combat specialties, but now that hybrid specialities are a thing, they were given generic names. Here’s the full list of perks that we know about so far in Black Ops 7 as they exist in the open beta. Keep in mind that Treyarch is implementing feedback from the beta into the final game in November, so perk effects may change before launch.

All Black Ops 7 perks

Tier 1 perks

  • Scavenger (Offense): Resupply ammo and equipment from killed enemies.
  • Lightweight (Offense): Increased movement speed. Jump, slide, and dive further. Faster recovery from sliding and diving.
  • Gung Ho (Offense): Fire while sprinting. Improved movement speed while reloading or using equipment.
  • Cold-Blooded (Stealth): Undetectable by AI targeting and thermal optics. Player-controlled scorestreaks don’t highlight you.
  • Ghost (Stealth): Undetectable by enemy Scout Pulse and UAV when moving, planting, defusing, or controlling scorestreaks. Undetectable by Prox Alarm.
  • Ninja (Stealth): Move more quietly.
  • Tech Mask (Support): Resistance to enemy flash, concussion, and gas. You cannot be EMP’ed or hacked.
  • Flak Jacket (Support): Reduces incoming explosive and fire damage.
  • Shadow (Support): Undetectable to enemy traps and mines.

Tier 2 perks

  • Assassin (Offense): Enemies on a kill streak get a unique minimap marker and drop Bounty Packs when killed. Pick up packs for more score.
  • Close Shave (Offense): Automatically use your dedicated melee attack when you perform a melee butt attack.
  • Hunter’s Instinct (Offense): Killing an enemy marks the direction of the next closest enemy on your minimap.
  • Looper (Offense): Gain the ability to re-earn scorestreaks in the same life.
  • Vigilance (Stealth): Display a HUD icon whenever you appear on hostile minimaps. Immune to CUAV, Scrambler, and Vendetta.
  • Blast Link (Stealth): Your explosive damage marks enemies on your minimap. Grant his benefit to all allies. Earn score when they deal explosive damage.
  • Engineer (Stealth): See enemy equipment and scorestreaks through walls and scorestreaks on the minimap. Aim at them to see target information.
  • Fast Hands (Support): Reload and swap weapons faster. Extend fuses when throwing back grenades.
  • Gearhead (Support): Two Field Upgrade charges. Booby trap Care Packages.

Tier 3 perks

  • Dexterity (Offense): Reduced weapon motion and full ADS on slides, dives, and wall jumps. Take less fall damage.
  • Tac Sprinter (Offense): Enables tactical sprint, but reduces your normal sprint speed.
  • Bankroll (Offense): Start each life with +150 score toward scorestreaks.
  • Bruiser (Offense): Melee kills and finishing moves replenish health and earn extra score.
  • Tracker (Stealth): See rough locations of nearby enemies on your minimap, and see their footsteps in the world. ADSing auto-pings enemies.
  • Vendetta (Stealth): On respawn, mark your killer’s last known position for a short duration. Get bonus score for killing that enemy.
  • Quartermaster (Support): Recharge equipment uses over time.
  • Charge Link (Support): Faster field upgrade charge rate. Grant this benefit to all allies. Earn score when nearby allies use their field upgrades.
  • Guardian (Support): Faster healing while capturing and holding objectives. Revive downed teammates faster.

Combat Specialties

Three core combat specialties return from Black Ops 6 largely unchanged. These are bonus perks automatically granted to a class if it has three perks of the same type equipped.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

Enforcer: Equip three Offense (red) perks

After each kill, gain a buff to movement speed and health regen speed for a short time.

Recon: Equip three Stealth (blue) perks

Related articles

On respawn, see the direction of the closest enemy on minimap. Edge of HUD pulses for enemies outside of your view. Leave no death skulls.

Strategist: Equip three Support (green) perks

Increases core for objectives and sabotage. Deploy equipment faster. See enemy content through walls a short distance.

Hybrid Combat Specialties
Hybrid specialities are new to Blops 7. These are also bonus perks, but they’re not as powerful as the main specialities above. The benefit is that you can unlock these by mixing two perk types (one red and two green, for instance), allowing more flexible classes to still benefit from perk synergy. With hybrid specialities, the only way to not have a bonus perk is to equip one of each perk type.

Tactician: Equip Support (green) and Offense (red) perks

When you earn assists, earn bonus score from bullet kills for 10 seconds.

Scout: Equip Offense (red) and Stealth (blue) perks

When you get a bullet kill, stay completely hidden from enemy minimaps for five seconds. Additional kills during this period reset the timer.

Operative: Equip Stealth (blue) and Support (green) perks

Earn Field Upgrade charge from stealthy kills. Suppressed weapons, melee kills, kills while out of line of sight, and other cases count as stealth kills.

Water is wet, the sky is blue, and Call of Duty Black Ops 7’s beta has cheaters

by admin October 3, 2025

Lo, when we perform the great ritual to open the Call of Duty Black Ops 7 beta, the cheaters will come. That’s what Activision said a few days ago, more or less. Hark, friends and foes enveloped in tactical gear and the occasional goofy crossover skin, it’s now a few days later and the cheatening is upon us. It arrived with the beta going live, just as prophesised.

Cue posts like the one above, from helpless souls caught in the frothing swirl of the cheatening maelstrom. And cue responses from Activision’s powerful anti-cheat druids, writing of these foretold ritual side-effects things like: “This clip was from earlier today. The account was already banned.”

The bearded warders against the likes of wallhacks and aimbotting have even broken out a powerful magical artefact, the hammer emoji of reassurance, in their responses to clips like this, a number of which went viral on the tweeter last night. Reddit, as a far as I can tell, looks relatively free of such clippage or anger about cheating, which is a sign of the end times if I’ve ever seen one.

It’s at this point that Activision would want us all to take solace in their prediction from this blog post a few days ago, AKA the prophecy I paraphrased earlier. “Cheaters will try to test the limits during the Beta,” it read. “That’s exactly what we want because #TeamRICOCHET is here, watching, learning, and removing them as they appear. Any account permanently banned for cheating during the Beta will be banned across all Call of Duty titles, from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare to future releases.”

Obviously, this isn’t an affliction unique to Call of Duty. As James eloquently outlined when Battlefield 6’s beta was similarly afflicted by cheating, despite both it and Blops 7 seeing studios take the extra step of making it mandatory for PC players to enable secure boot in an effort to curb tech-savvy tricksters. The debate is whether continuing to take more and more measures like that in an effort to whack whatever persistent cheating moles keep popping up or slipping through the array of defenses already assembled is worth any inconvenience caused to those playing fairly as a result.

It’s a delicate balance to strike, and where you stand on the issue may well depend on just how many cheaters you’ve happened to run into in online games over the years and the situations in which those encounters happened. In Black Ops 7’s case, there’s also arguably a little bit of irony in Activion’s strong stance, due to the ability to temporarily see and shoot foes through several layers of wall, a bit like some cheats allow you to do permanently, actually being in the game as a killstreak reward.

Anyway, I await Black Ops 7’s full release on November 14th, at which point I prophesise that the cheating chatter will emerge once more. That’s provided the round of cheat chatter prompted by Battlefield 6’s arrival on October 10th has actually managed to dissipate by mid-November.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s beta is out, and is already plagued by cheaters

by admin October 3, 2025

Yesterday, the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 beta began in earnest, welcoming in untold thousands of eager players to try the game out before its proper launch on the 14th November. However, a number of cheaters also seemed to let themselves in and get up to no good.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 beta requires both TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot enabled on your PC to play, which Treyarch stated was needed to “create a more secure environment that catches more cheating.”

Within hours of the beta starting, however, clips started appearing on social media showing off wall hacks and aim bots working in the beta. Take the below video posted to X, which shows the same old cheats in action.

To see this content please enable targeting cookies.

Manage cookie settings

Now, this account was later banned manually as confirmed by Treyarch on X, but why are old cheats working on a new game so soon after it was in the player’s hands? Well, while the Black Ops 7 Beta requires additional kernel-level access to your computer, the updated version of Activision’s proprietary Ricochet Anti-Cheat has not yet come to the game. Instead, players will have to wait until the full launch to get additional cheat protection.

This is but the latest blow in the ongoing fight between FPS game developers and cheat manufacturers. A continuous back-and-forth where cheats run amok until an updated anti-cheat solution bans a vast selection of these cheaters. Then, after a little while, the cheaters learn how the anti-cheat works and it circles round and round. This particular cycle has been a fixture of the Call of Duty series for years.

There are other options available to players who want to curb cheating. Activision announced earlier this year that it’ll allow console players to turn off crossplay to avoid cheating, admitting the majority of cheaters are playing on PC.

It’s worth noting that this year’s current Call of Duty competitor Battlefield 6 has also suffered at the hands of cheaters during its open beta, with EA’s anti-cheat shutting down over 300,000 cheaters during its run.

Cheaters have already taken over Black Ops 7 just hours after beta goes live

by admin October 2, 2025

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 beta is already being infested with cheaters as players await the arrival of a stronger anti-cheat.

Every year, cheaters become a major threat to Call of Duty, and Activision is in a constant, never-ending struggle with the creators of this nefarious software.

On October 2, the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s early access beta arrived, and while there have been controversies about perks and scorestreaks, an old adversary reared its ugly head.

Article continues after ad

Like clockwork, footage of players using aim bots, wall hacks, and other such tools emerged.

Aimbotters and wall hacks hit Black Ops 7 beta

In one clip, uploaded to X by a fresh account, a user showed off how they could see enemies through walls and quickly snapped right to targets, mowing them down.

Another video, this time from streamer Stodeh, he encountered a cheater just three hours into the beta.

“Bro, is this guy cheating in hour three of beta?” he asked in chat.

Someone in the lobby then claimed there had been cheaters right when the beta launched. Footage proceeded to show absurd kill cams where Stodeh was shredded by someone who shouldn’t have been able to see him.

“This can’t be happening in Black Ops 7 ALREADY,” he blasted.

Not all hope may be lost, but players will need to be patient.

Treyarch have revealed upgrades to their RICOCHET Anti-Cheat system, including a crackdown on aimbots and wall hacks.

In a blog post, the devs confirmed a “new generation of machine learning systems and detection tools” is coming to Black Ops 7 at launch.

These upgrades, however, will only go live officially when Black Ops 7 launches on November 14.

All Black Ops 7 beta rewards and how to get them

by admin October 2, 2025

Call of Duty Black Ops 7 is all ready to launch into open beta, and this milestone comes with a bunch of rewards for players to grab. Everyone can participate in the beta, so why not add any freebies that you can to your inventory before the global launch in November?

Black Ops 7 beta starts on Oct. 5, but you can join the action a bit earlier—on Oct. 2—if you’ve pre-ordered the game, received a beta code, or are subscribed via Xbox Game Pass. There are several features for you to test out till Oct. 8, including new maps, modes, and a special “beta progression” system that lets you bag exciting cosmetics and other unlockable items.

Here’s a list of all beta rewards you can earn in Black Ops 7.

All Black Ops 7 beta rewards

Grind early. Image via Activision

Black Ops 7 open beta features a progression track of 30 levels. You can grind toward it to earn cosmetics like skins, emotes, and emblems, as well as other unlocks like perks, scorestreaks, weapons, and more.

But there’s a catch: only 20 levels of this progression track is available during the early access period (Oct. 2 to Oct. 5). The remaining 10 levels unlock on Oct. 5 with the global open beta. Here are the rewards you can get by progressing through levels one to 30 in Black Ops 7 open beta:

How to progress levels in BO7 beta and get rewards fast

To get all Black Ops 7 beta rewards, you need to play the game during open beta as much as possible and reach Level 30 before Oct. 8. Focus on raking more kills and gathering assists while in a match. Completing daily challenges and other missions should get you a lot of easy XP toward level progression.

While seven days may seem less for a progression of 30 levels, it isn’t impossible. Since it’s open beta, earning XP shouldn’t be very hard. All rewards earned from this period will carry over into the game’s full version when it launches on Nov. 14, so it’s definitely worth the time you invest.

How to Use Double XP Tokens in Black Ops 6 and Warzone

by admin October 2, 2025

If you’re looking for your next hit of double experience in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, you’re not alone. While developer Treyarch frequently runs double XP weekends for the most recent Call of Duty game, not every player can take advantage of the full event.

When the weekend is over, players are often left looking for ways to keep the speedy XP gain they grew accustomed to. The solution is double XP tokens, which can help gamers level up their player level, weapon levels and battle pass tiers twice as fast.

Many players have an ample supply of Black Ops 6 double XP tokens, but with Black Ops 7 arriving in just a few months, now is the time to start earning double XP tokens for the next game, too. If you know where to look, there are giveaways and promotions that will help you get a head start in the next Call of Duty game.

With multiple seasons of unlockable guns and melee weapons to catch up on and the introduction of the new XP-based Warzone Armory, players will be benefiting from double weapon XP more than ever before.

If you don’t know how to get more double XP tokens to keep leveling up quickly after double XP weekends, we’re here to help. Here’s every way you can use double XP tokens in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 right now.

Can you use double XP tokens on Double XP Weekend?

Black Ops 6 and Warzone players aren’t able to activate double XP tokens during a double XP weekend. When attempting to open the double XP token menu to activate your tokens, they’ll be grayed out and unable to be interacted with for the duration of the event.

Any double XP time that players had activated before double XP weekend will be frozen, and will reactivate once the universal double XP boost comes to an end. Players will also be able to continue activating their double XP tokens after Sunday, Dec. 1 at 1 p.m. ET (10 a.m. PT), when the double XP weekend wraps up.

How to earn free XP tokens in Black Ops 6

Most of the ways to earn Black Ops 6’s double XP tokens involve microtransactions or external marketing campaigns, but there are still some ways to earn the boosts without spending a single cent.

Multiplayer prestige

In addition to operator skins, weapon skins, zombies gobblegums, calling cards and emblems, advancing your account to a new prestige grants you a 1-hour XP token.

Activision/Screenshot by CNET

Reaching max rank and choosing to prestige your account is the most reliable way to earn double XP tokens in Black Ops 6. Each time you enter a new prestige level, you’ll be rewarded with a 1-hour token for double player XP. Since there are 10 player prestige levels, you can gain a maximum of 10 hours’ worth of double XP tokens through the prestige system.

Seasonal battle pass

The battle pass will have new weapons, operator skins and other goodies for enterprising players to earn. But most importantly, they have coveted double XP tokens.

Activision

As Black Ops 6 enters season 1, it has been confirmed that the battle pass will offer double player XP and double weapon XP tokens on multiple unlockable tiers. The premium battle pass requires a Call of Duty point investment from players, but there are double XP tokens on free battle pass tiers that anyone can earn by just playing the game.

Giveaways through official channels

Occasionally, codes for double XP tokens are shared on official Call of Duty communication channels. Most recently, the Call of Duty account on X ran a giveaway where players could earn up to 3 hours of double player XP, weapon XP and battle pass XP before the launch of Black Ops 6. It’s worth keeping an eye on Call of Duty’s social media pages to spot future double XP token giveaways.

Paying for XP tokens in Black Ops 6

Opening your wallet and shelling out some cash is the quickest way to nab some double XP tokens to level up your Call of Duty gameplay. These are the most reliable ways to secure some tokens for your account.

Microtransactions

The CODE Endeavour: Tracer Pack is the first Black Ops 6 microtransaction to include double XP tokens.

Activision

Double XP tokens are included in certain purchasable bundles in Black Ops 6. The first available bundle, the CODE Endeavour: Tracer Pack, has two double XP tokens. There’s a 1-hour double-player XP token and a 1-hour double weapon XP token. The Tracer Pack: Cash Bandit Reactive, introduced in Season 1, also contains a 1-hour double-player XP token.

Future bundles and microtransactions will also likely include double XP tokens.

External promotions

If you buy a promotional can of Monster Energy, you should find a code for Call of Duty loot under the pull ring.

Monster Energy

Call of Duty is partnered with external brands, including Monster Energy and Little Caesars, which can bring special campaigns to Black Ops 6 players. Buying products from these brands and redeeming reward codes allows gamers to earn Call of Duty Points, exclusive operator skins, weapon skins, weapon blueprints, weapon vinyls, calling cards and emblems. Most importantly, you’ll have a chance to earn double XP tokens to use in the multiplayer and zombies modes in Black Ops 6.

Stock up on double XP tokens for Black Ops 7

There might not be many external promotions left for Black Ops 6’s life cycle, but the collaborations are already ramping up for Black Ops 7. Monster Energy has partnered with Activision once more, bringing new cosmetic rewards and healthy heaps of XP tokens to the table before the next Call of Duty launches.

Will Black Ops 6 double XP tokens be usable in Black Ops 7?

While we don’t know for certain whether or not Black Ops 6 double XP tokens will carry over to the next game, it’s safe to assume that they will not. The double XP tokens from Modern Warfare 3 never properly carried over to Black Ops 6, and we already have confirmation that no weapon or operator skins from Black Ops 6 will carry over to 7.

What is likely, however, is that the common loophole to use legacy double XP tokens will still work by the time Black Ops 7 launches. If you want to use your double XP tokens from older Call of Duty games, you can access them from the Warzone menu.

Once the double XP tokens are activated in Warzone, players can navigate the Call of Duty hub to their intended game — in this case, that would be Black Ops 7 — and reap the rewards of double XP while playing multiplayer modes.

You can unlock operator skins and double XP tokens for the next Call of Duty game before it even comes out.

How to earn Black Ops 7 double XP tokens now

Monster Energy has partnered with Call of Duty to put together a promotion that will look very familiar to Black Ops 6 fans. Specially marked cans of Monster Energy include codes that unlock Black Ops 7 rewards, including operator skins, weapon blueprints, decals and sweet, sweet double XP tokens. Here’s the order in which you’ll earn Call of Duty Black Ops 7 rewards by redeeming Monster Energy codes.

  • Energy Flash decal and 15-minute double XP token unlocked with the first code.
  • Peacekeeper MK1 Hyper Green weapon blueprint and 15-minute double XP token unlocked with the second code.
  • Green Fury operator skin and 15-minute double XP token unlocked with the third code.
  • VS Recon Green Thunder weapon blueprint and 15-minute double XP token unlocked with the fourth code.
  • Daylight Ripper operator skin and 15-minute double XP token unlocked with the fifth code.

There are no unique cosmetic rewards to be gained after redeeming the first five codes, but that doesn’t mean you’re out of luck. Every subsequent code redemption unlocks an additional 15-minute double XP token to use on your Black Ops 7 account. These promotional codes must be used by March 31, 2026, in order to provide the rewards listed above.
