Cardano Founder: Bitcoin to Hit $250K Before End of Bull Market

by admin August 28, 2025

  • Main bullish driver
  • Lifting all boats

During a recent interview with Kitco, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson predicted that the price of Bitcoin could soar to $250,000 by the end of the current cycle.

“That’s kind of the flag I’ve put in the ground for the ceiling of it,” Hoskinson said.

Hoskinson has noted that sovereign wealth funds are currently buying Bitcoin, and the U.S. government currently holds roughly 212,000 coins. “It’s pretty crazy when you think about it,” Hoskinson said.

The Cardano founder believes that Bitcoin’s market cap is going to surge to $10 trillion over the next 10 years.

Main bullish driver

Hoskinson is convinced that Bitcoin-based decentralized finance (DeFi) is going to be the main bullish driver for the leading cryptocurrency.

This somehow echoes a recent prediction made by venture capitalist Tim Draper, who believes that Bitcoin could be similar to tech giant Microsoft in the sense that it could consolidate various innovative use cases.

You Might Also Like

Hoskinson is convinced that Bitcoin will be treated like any other financial asset for purposes of investment and taxes as soon as there is more regulatory clarity in the US.

At that point, Hoskinson predicts, the leading cryptocurrency will be able to see a “massive” flow of money.

Lifting all boats

Hoskinson is convinced that Bitcoin surging to the $10 trillion mark will be the rising tide that will end up lifting all boats.

He has noted that there are plenty of cryptocurrency-focused use cases beyond finance.

“Like, how do I build a competitor to Facebook and have a decentralized social network? I want to do this in Bitcoin. It’s an absurd thing,” he said.

The Cardano founder has predicted that there will be an “internet of blockchains.”

Bitcoin and the crypto market braced as economist warns on the Fed cuts

by admin August 28, 2025

Bitcoin and the broader crypto market are on edge as a top economist, whom Donald Trump nominated to the Federal Reserve in 2019, downplayed the impact of the upcoming interest rate cut.

Summary

  • Stephen Moore, a top US economist, has downplayed the impact of the coming Federal Reserve interest rate cut.
  • He believes that the main interest rate that the Fed should cut is the Interest on Reserves.
  • The main potential catalyst for the crypto market will be the October ETF approvals.

Bitcoin (BTC) price was trading at $112,645 at press time, up by 3.7% from its lowest level this month. Other top altcoins like Ethereum (ETH) and Solana were largely flat, while the market capitalization of all tokens remained at $3.9 trillion.

Crypto market on edge as Stephen Moore downplays impact of Fed cuts

One of the main catalysts driving the crypto market this week is a recent statement by Jerome Powell at the Jackson Hole Symposium in which he signaled that the bank may consider cutting interest rates in the upcoming meeting in September, citing the weak labor market.

The Fed rate cut everyone’s talking about might miss the real problem.

Jerome Powell hinted at cutting rates and markets celebrated. But here’s what Wall Street isn’t telling you:

The Federal Funds Rate cut won’t do much because barely any banks use it anymore.
The REAL rate to… pic.twitter.com/QG0mBMecSJ

— Stephen Moore (@StephenMoore) August 26, 2025

However, in a statement, Stephen Moore, a senior economist at the Heritage Foundation, said that the cut will not do much for the economy, and potentially for assets like stocks and cryptocurrencies.

He argues that the Federal Reserve interest rate has largely become irrelevant now that banks don’t use it anymore.

Instead, he argued that the bank should consider cutting the Interest on Reserve or IoR, which stands at 4.4%.

IoR is the interest that banks earn for storing money at the Federal Reserve, a figure that currently stands at $3.5 trillion. Banks earned about $186 billion from the IoR last year

The other potential risk is that the Federal Reserve may opt for a hawkish interest rate cut in September. This is where it cuts rates but delivers a restrictive outlook on monetary policy.

The case for a hawkish cut is that the economy is sending mixed signals, with the GDP data released on Thursday being better than expected and inflation remaining significantly higher than the Fed’s target of 2.0%.

ETF approvals to be the main catalyst

The main catalyst for the crypto market will be the upcoming ETF approvals by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The agency has delayed most of the ETF approvals, including on popular tokens like Solana (SOL) and Ripple (XRP), to October.

After several delays, the Paul Atkins-led agency will likely move ahead and accept or reject them. Polymarket odds are that the agency will ultimately approve top ETFs, including Dogecoin, Solana, Hedera Hashgraph, and XRP.

Current data indicate a demand for altcoin ETFs, as evidenced by the surging inflows into the Ethereum ETF. Other futures-based altcoin funds like XXRP, SSK, and UXRP have also had substantial inflows a few months after their launch.

Solana vs. Bitcoin Chart Hints at Explosive SOL Price Breakout Toward $300

Solana vs. Bitcoin Chart Hints at Explosive SOL Price Breakout Toward $300

by admin August 28, 2025

Key takeaways:

  • Past SOL/BTC golden crosses preceded 1,000% rallies in the SOL/USD pair.

  • Altseason backdrop and nearly $3 billion in new treasury buys boost Solana’s upside case.

Solana (SOL) is flashing a rare golden cross versus Bitcoin (BTC), a setup that has historically fueled parabolic rallies in both BTC and US dollar terms.

Previous SOL golden crosses preceded 1,000% gains

As of Thursday, SOL/BTC’s 50-day simple moving average (50-day SMA; the red wave) was on course to climb above the 200-day SMA (the blue wave), confirming a golden cross pattern.

“We’ve seen this play before… 2021, 2023, and now setting up again in 2025,” says analyst Ran Neuner, and that the setup is “screaming [for] a major move in SOL.“

SOL/BTC daily price chart. Source: Ran Neuner

In early 2021, SOL/BTC’s first golden cross fueled an approximately 1,900% breakout against Bitcoin. The second cross in mid-2023 produced a similar outcome.

Moreover, SOL/BTC’s rise coincided with major rallies in the SOL/USD pair. For instance, Solana gained 1,890% against the US dollar, climbing from $13 to over $260, after SOL/BTC’s golden cross confirmation in 2021.

SOL/USDT daily price chart. Source: TradingView

Solana gained over 1,000%, rebounding from around $20 to above $250, after the second SOL/BTC golden cross in 2023.

These SOL/USD and SOL/BTC bull runs have previously coincided with broader “altseasons,” when capital rotates from Bitcoin into high-beta tokens.

In 2021, Solana’s breakout came during the DeFi boom that lifted the entire altcoin market. In 2023, the move followed a similar script as post-FTX recovery liquidity flowed into altcoins.

This year, the backdrop looks equally supportive. Ether (ETH) has already outperformed Bitcoin in recent months, often seen as an early sign of altseason strength.

Source: BitBull

At the same time, historical Bitcoin halving fractals suggest liquidity expansion and capital rotation typically accelerate over a year after the halving, a pattern that could once again set the stage for a major Solana rally.

Solana megaphone pattern hints at $300

Solana (SOL) is trading within a broadening wedge, or megaphone pattern, with the upper trendline aligning near the $295–$300 zone as the next major resistance by October.

SOL/USDT weekly price chart. Source: TradingView

The setup comes as SOL/USD holds comfortably above its 50-week and 200-week EMAs, while the weekly RSI remains bullish at 61, suggesting further upside momentum.

Fibonacci retracement levels also reinforce the $295 area as a critical breakout point.

Fundamentally, Solana’s outlook is supported by news of growing demand from corporate treasuries.

This week, Galaxy Digital, Jump Crypto, and Multicoin Capital revealed plans to raise over $1 billion for a Solana treasury fund backed by the Solana Foundation.

Sharps Technology has also committed $400 million to its Solana reserves, while Pantera Capital is pursuing a $1.25 billion Solana-focused vehicle.

Related: Solana needs three catalysts to push SOL beyond $200 toward $250

Together, these moves represent nearly $3 billion in potential new demand for institutional portfolios. That may further boost SOL’s potential to hit $300 in the coming weeks.

This article does not contain investment advice or recommendations. Every investment and trading move involves risk, and readers should conduct their own research when making a decision.

Bitcoin, Solana Rise as Investors Weigh Nvidia Earnings, Strong GDP Data

by admin August 28, 2025

In brief

  • Nvidia disclosed $46 billion in second-quarter profit.
  • The U.S. economy grew at an annual rate of 3.3% in Q2.
  • Solana was up 2.3%, as one analyst pointed to interest from treasury firms.

The price of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies rose on Thursday as investors mulled the strength of Nvidia’s earnings and signs of a stronger-than-expected U.S. economy.

Bitcoin changed hands around $113,000, a 0.9% increase over the past day, according to crypto data provider CoinGecko. Solana meanwhile rose 2.3% to $212. SOL was up nearly 5% at one point before retreating.

Ethereum and XRP dropped dropped 2.7% and 0.8%, respectively. ETH was trading near $4,500, well off its all-time high set over the weekend.

Nvidia disclosed record profits on Wednesday alongside its ninth straight quarter of year-over-year revenue growth of over 50%. The company took in $46 billion during the second quarter, despite not selling any of its advanced AI chips to China over the period.

The chipmaker’s shares fell 1.3% on Thursday to $179, according to Yahoo Finance. They are still up 2.6% on the week and 34% year-to-date, signaling that conviction in artificial intelligence is continuing to drive sky-high valuations on Wall Street.

For Bitcoin, Nvidia’s fortunes are relevant. The chipmaker has an 8.8% weighting in the S&P 500, so any swing in the $4.4 trillion company’s stock price could affect the market’s top cryptocurrency by market value, given the correlation between crypto and equities.

The U.S. Commerce Department said on Thursday that gross domestic product rose at an annualized rate of 3.3% in the second quarter. Economists initially expected the U.S. economy would grow at a 3.0% annualized rate, suggesting that the U.S. economy performed better under the president’s trade zig zags on tariffs and other trade policies.

Solana’s performance was notable on Thursday, considering that the latest rally in crypto prices has been marked by Ethereum’s strength and climb to a new all-time high.

Since Aug. 10, however, Solana has shown “relative strength” against Bitcoin and Ethereum, with price ratios recovering from recent lows, according to Jake Ostrovskis, an OTC transfer at the crypto market maker Wintermute.

The cryptocurrency has returned to focus amid “growing interest in treasuries targeting the asset,” Ostrovskis said. Earlier this week, The Information reported that venture capital firm Pantera Capital is seeking to raise $1.25 billion for a Nasdaq-listed vehicle that would hold Solana.

Solana treasury firms have the potential to absorb defunct crypto exchange FTX’s vesting supply of tokens, which equates to around 609,000 SOL each month. The bankrupt exchange started making repayments to customers in February.

“By converting this ‘overhang’ into staked, treasury-held assets, effective circulating supply shrinks, countering downward pressure and setting the stage for sustained upside,” Ostrovskis said.

Tether To Launch Usdt On Bitcoin With Rgb And Lightning

Tether to Launch USDT on Bitcoin with RGB and Lightning

by admin August 28, 2025

Tether, the firm behind USDT, the biggest stablecoin, has announced plans to launch the token on Bitcoin using RGB, a smart-contract and asset-issuance protocol that works with the Lightning Network.

According to the press release, RGB allows issuers to create and move assets that are linked to Bitcoin transactions but verified off-chain, which means they do not take up much space on the blockchain itself.

Design for Faster, Cheaper, and Private Transactions

This new design is an upgrade compared to older systems like Omni, which stored more information directly on Bitcoin. Because Omni used the blockchain for storing token data, it became slow and expensive whenever fees on Bitcoin went up. RGB avoids that by keeping data off-chain and letting users confirm it privately.

Tether said its goal with RGB is to make USDT transfers on Bitcoin quick and affordable, while keeping it more private. The system uses client-side validation, where the users check the transactions themselves instead of putting all the details onto the blockchain.

Meanwhile, tether made the move after it decided to cut off some smaller or less popular networks. Earlier this year, the company said it would stop using Omni, EOS, and Algorand by September 2025. These networks were not growing much, and Tether wanted to focus on blockchains with more users and higher demand.

Today, most USDT runs on Tron and Ethereum, but the company says adding RGB creates a direct Bitcoin-native option. This means people will be able to send and receive USDT inside Lightning wallets, and trade it on exchanges directly through Bitcoin’s network.

Tether to Expand Bitcoin Footprint

According to data from CoinMarketCap, USDT has a total supply of more than $167 billion. This makes it the largest stablecoin in the world. With RGB, Tether hopes to bring that large supply into the Bitcoin ecosystem.

“Bitcoin deserves a stablecoin that feels truly native, lightweight, private, and scalable. With RGB, USD₮ gains a powerful new pathway on Bitcoin, reinforcing our belief in Bitcoin as the foundation of a freer financial future.” Tether’s CEO Paolo Ardoino said in the press release.

At the same time, Tether has been investing heavily in Bitcoin. As of the second quarter of 2025, the company owned over 100,000 BTC and spent more than $2 billion on 15 mining centers in Latin America.

Satoshi or Not? First Bitcoin User Remembered on This Date

by admin August 28, 2025

Today, the crypto community remembers renowned cryptographer and computer scientist Hal Finney, regarded as the first Bitcoin user, who passed away exactly 11 years ago.

In a tweet, Bitcoin historian Pete Rizzo paid tribute to the Bitcoin pioneer: “Exactly 11 years ago today – Hal Finney – the 1st Bitcoin user, passed away.  He championed BTC when it was $0 and predicted $10 million BTC. Gone but not forgotten. Legend.”

Finney was among the first to download, install and use the Bitcoin software when pseudonymous Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto initially released it. In his early experimentation with Bitcoin, Finney mined the cryptocurrency, finding and fixing software problems subsequently.

However, due to excessive CPU consumption, Finney removed the Bitcoin software, but it was only for a brief period.

Satoshi mystery remains

Finney wrote his name in the sands of time as Bitcoin founder Satoshi Nakamoto sent him the first ever Bitcoin transaction. Satoshi initiated the first transaction on the blockchain on Jan. 12, 2009, sending 10 Bitcoin to Finney, the first of what would later be regarded as a peer-to-peer (P2P) transaction.

Finney was also among the first to reply to Satoshi Nakamoto’s publication of the white paper.

When Bitcoin was worth cents, Finney predicted the cryptocurrency would go to millions of dollars, with a $10 million BTC prediction attributed to him.

Finney was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in 2009 and passed away on Aug. 28, 2014. Finney was speculated to be Satoshi Nakamoto, but he denied this before his passing. To date, the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto remains a mystery yet unsolved.

Strategy Faces Scrutiny Over Stock Issuance To Fund Bitcoin Buying

by admin August 28, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

Strategy’s latest stock sale to buy more Bitcoin has put investor nerves on edge, as numbers and timing raise fresh doubts about shareholder dilution and the company’s funding choices.

Strategy: Rapid Shift In Equity Policy

Based on reports, Strategy changed its public guidance on August 18 and then, within days, moved to issue a large amount of new stock.

CryptoQuant analyst JA Maartunn traced the pattern: no fresh issuance on Aug. 3, roughly $18 million on Aug. 10, about $51 million on Aug. 17 — then close to $360 million raised in a single week after the guidance change.

That sharp jump in new capital has drawn scrutiny from market watchers who worry the company is leaning on share issuance to keep buying Bitcoin.

The new rules link stock sales to something called market net asset value, or mNAV, which compares the company’s share price to the value of its Bitcoin.

Strategy running out of steam? 🚂💨

Before Aug 18, almost no new money came into $MSTR:
🔹 Aug 3: $0
🔹 Aug 10: ~$18M
🔹 Aug 17: ~$51M

But after they dropped the “no dilution below 2.5x mNAV” promise, $359M was raised by issuing new shares (see tweet below).

Policy changed.… https://t.co/nenuT1soI3 pic.twitter.com/pORoidxPhf

— Maartunn (@JA_Maartun) August 26, 2025

If the stock trades at more than four times its mNAV, the company will sell lots of shares to buy more Bitcoin. If it trades between 2.5 and four times, it will sell some shares, but more carefully.

And if the stock drops below 2.5 times, share sales would mostly go toward paying debt or covering dividends instead of buying Bitcoin.

Reports add that if Strategy shares trade under 1x mNAV, the company could borrow to repurchase stock. That framework reversed an earlier pledge not to sell shares for Bitcoin purchases when mNAV was below 2.5x — a reversal that critics point to as the key change.

BTCUSD trading at $112,984 on the 24-hour chart: TradingView

How The Purchase Was Financed

According to the company’s SEC filing, nearly $310 million came from at-the-market common stock sales at an average share price of $354, plus roughly $47 million from preferred share classes.

In total, the firm raised a little more than $357 million and used the proceeds to buy 3,081 Bitcoin. The purchase pushed its holdings to 632,457 BTC.

That stack of 632,457 coins equals roughly 3% of circulating supply, based on market counts cited in filings and market reports. The company’s public target remains at 1 million coins — a goal that, by the reported figures, is now about 60% complete.

Dilution Risk And Debt Capacity

Investors focused on dilution have reason to be worried. Each new share increases the number of claims on the same Bitcoin pool, and when issuance happens while the stock trades at low multiples to mNAV, existing holders see their per-share Bitcoin backing decline.

Reports say Strategy’s debt sits at about 20% of Bitcoin NAV with headroom up to 30%, giving it borrowing room — but choosing to issue equity at low mNAVs still weakens per-share economics.

ETF Spot su Ethereum Hanno Superato Quelli su Bitcoin per un’Intera Settimana

by admin August 28, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors.

Come spiega Sentora:

Last week, institutional investors broke the multi-week run of inflows into US spot #Ethereum ETFs with -105K $ETH in net outflows. However, this week opened on a positive note, with +16.9K #ETH added to positions yesterday. pic.twitter.com/bZzeHdohqE

— glassnode (@glassnode) August 26, 2025

Ethereum ETF inflows surpass Bitcoin for a full week

by admin August 28, 2025

For an entire week, Ethereum spot ETFs have attracted more money than Bitcoin ETFs, marking a clear shift in how investors are allocating funds.

Summary

  • Ethereum ETFs attracted $1.83 billion from August 21 to 27, significantly surpassing Bitcoin ETFs, which brought in $171 million during the same period.
  • Over the past month, Ethereum ETFs have seen approximately $3.7 billion in net inflows, while Bitcoin ETFs recorded net outflows of about $803.4 million.
  • The recent ETF inflows align with Ethereum’s price gains, as ETH climbed to nearly $4,950 before settling around $4,600, up 19% for the month.

Ethereum (ETH) ETFs saw a total of $1.83 billion in inflows from August 21 to 27, while Bitcoin ETFs attracted just $171 million during the same period. According to data from SoSoValue, exchange-traded funds tracking ETH brought in $307.2 million during their latest trading session, while Bitcoin (BTC) ETFs registered $81.3 million in net inflows.

This extends their week-long trend of positive flows, with Ethereum ETFs now on a four-day winning streak, while Bitcoin ETFs struggle to keep pace.

In August so far, Ethereum ETFs have attracted approximately $3.7 billion in net inflows. By contrast, Bitcoin ETFs have recorded net outflows of about $803.4 million, driven largely by the $1.17 billion withdrawn during the week ending August 22.

Even more interesting is the scale of the inflows relative to Ethereum’s size. Despite having a smaller market cap than Bitcoin, Ethereum ETFs brought in over 10x more capital over the last 5 trading days.

The ongoing trend contrasts sharply with ETH ETFs’ earlier underperformance this year, when Bitcoin ETFs dominated weekly and monthly gains. This reversal reflects a shift in investor preference toward ETH, with many now seeing greater growth potential in the current cycle as institutional interest deepens.

Ethereum ETF growth fueled by price boost

Ethereum ETFs’ strong inflows have come alongside a steady rise in price. Over the past month, ETH has climbed significantly, even recently reaching a new all-time high near $4,950.

While it has readjusted to trade at $4,600 at the time of writing, the asset remains roughly 7.3% up on the week and 19% this month, and its momentum so far has reinforced bullish sentiment.

Bitcoin, on the other hand, trades just over $113,000. The crypto king dipped to around $109,000 earlier this week, now sitting in the red for the month with an approximate 5% decline. While not showing signs of major weakness, BTC’s lack of sustained momentum has made room for Ethereum to stand out in price performance and institutional fund flows.

A similar trend is evident in corporate accumulation. In recent months, demand for ETH among corporate entities has outpaced Bitcoin, with many aggressively buying ETH while institutional Bitcoin purchases slow.

Meanwhile, Ethereum ETF assets under management have also surpassed Bitcoin in recent months. Over the last 30 days, ETH ETFs grew nearly 58%, while Bitcoin ETFs declined about 10.7%.

Upcoming macroeconomic data from the U.S. could influence how these flows continue. If markets remain uncertain, ETFs may become even more appealing as a regulated, accessible way to gain crypto exposure. For now, Ethereum has the upper hand not just in price action, but in narrative. The question is whether it can sustain that momentum as the ETF market matures.

Eric Trump At Bitcoin Asia 2025? Hong Kong Officials Say ‘No Thanks’

by admin August 28, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

Hong Kong’s Bitcoin conference has become a test of politics and optics rather than just a meeting for crypto fans.

Officials Drop Out After Speaker Confirmation

According to reports, two local figures quietly pulled out of Bitcoin Asia 2025 after Eric Trump – son of US President Donald Trump – was listed as a speaker.

Eric Yip Chee-hang of the Securities and Futures Commission and lawmaker Johnny Ng Kit-chong withdrew from the event lineup, which runs on August 28 and 29.

Organizers declined to say if the changes were forced, but sources told the South China Morning Post that officials were urged to skip the conference if Eric Trump appeared.

A Hong Kong official and a lawmaker have withdrawn from a Bitcoin Asia conference in the city following advice not to engage with Eric Trump, son of President Donald Trump, the South China Morning Post reported. https://t.co/FvgpBoyn77

— Bloomberg (@business) August 28, 2025

A Delicate Balance Between Trade And Appearances

Hong Kong’s leaders are juggling big goals. The city wants foreign crypto firms and is promoting rules meant to attract them.

At the same time, ties between the US and China are strained. Tariffs on Hong Kong exports are at 145%, a figure that some officials see as a reminder to be cautious about public associations.

Lau Siu-kai, an adviser to a Beijing-linked think tank, said the withdrawals avoid any sense of taking sides with Washington during a sensitive time.

US Connections Draw Attention

Eric Trump is scheduled for two sessions, titled “All in on Bitcoin” and “Bitcoin Takes Over the World.” He co-founded American Bitcoin and has links to World Liberty Financial, according to public filings and past coverage.

BTCUSD trading at $113,234 on the 24-hour chart: TradingView

With US President Donald Trump back in the White House and pushing crypto-friendly rules, the family’s moves are being watched more closely than before.

Some attendees say his name will still draw crowds. Others worry it will keep the focus off technology.

Local Voices Push Back On Political Framing

Joshua Chu of the Hong Kong Web3 Association told reporters that the walkout looked like personal choices, not a political purge.

He argued that Eric Trump’s presence underlines Hong Kong’s role in crypto. Still, several people at the scene said that political considerations were unavoidable.

The event, now in its second edition this year, was meant to highlight panels on tokenization and funding, but the headlines have shifted.

How Policy Fits Into The Picture

Hong Kong recently rolled out a revised Digital Assets Policy and a stablecoin ordinance on August 1 as part of a push to make the city friendlier to virtual assets.

That push is ongoing. Organizers say the conference will continue, with some sessions kept intact and others quietly reshuffled.

The meeting will likely show how far officials are willing to separate tech outreach from larger state-to-state tensions.
