Ethereum Etfs Record $4B Monthly Inflows As Bitcoin Lags
Crypto Trends

Ethereum ETFs Record $4B Monthly Inflows as Bitcoin Lags

by admin August 31, 2025

U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs are wrapping up August with nearly $4 billion in net inflows, marking their second-largest monthly gain since they launched. This boost comes as Ethereum continues to outshine Bitcoin ETFs.

Additionally, data from Coinglass highlights the extent of this shift. Back in late 2024, inflows into Ethereum ETFs were quite erratic, with investors pulling out funds even while ETH was hovering around $4,000.

Despite rising prices, market confidence remained quite shaky. By February 2025, Ethereum had dipped below $2,000, and ETF outflows were on the rise. This led to increased selling pressure that affected institutional and retail sentiment.

However, everything changed dramatically by mid-2025. Starting in May, inflows surged, with institutions investing heavily in Ethereum ETFs. At the same time, ETH made a recovery, bouncing back from under $2,000 to near $4,500 by August 29.

As of August 30, Bitcoin spot ETFs experienced outflows of 1.13K BTC, yet the overall net inflows are at 594.01K BTC. The daily trading volume reached $4.66 billion, with net assets totaling $145.17 billion.

Bitcoin ETFs Show Turbulence

Meanwhile, Bitcoin spot ETFs delivered a different story. According to SoSoValue, daily inflows swung violently between surges and withdrawals. At one point, daily inflows exceeded $1 billion. However, several sessions also recorded outflows worth hundreds of millions.

On top of that, the white line on the chart indicates that Bitcoin ETF assets surged past $140 billion by the end of August. This shows that, even with all the ups and downs, Bitcoin ETFs have managed to keep their long-term growth momentum.

Particularly, Bitcoin’s price followed ETF flows closely. Since the beginning of 2024, BTC rose to exceed $110,000, which is similar to the activity  inflows and outflows at the time. Thus, Bitcoin ETFs continue to influence market sentiment and liquidity.

According to data from Farside investors, Bitcoin ETFs experienced highs and lows, with BlackRock’s IBIT taking the lead by pulling in over $58 billion since its launch. On August 14, IBIT saw an inflow of more than $523 million.

But just a few days later, on August 19, investors pulled out the same amount across Bitcoin ETFs. Fidelity’s FBTC and Ark’s ARKB also faced significant fluctuations. Additionally, Grayscale’s GBTC continued to lose assets, primarily due to its 1.5% fee, while competitors charge around 0.25%.

Ethereum ETFs Show Early Enthusiasm

As for Ethereum ETFs, data from farside shows August having around $13.5 billion flowing in from various providers. According to the data, there is high demand with August 11 alone bringing in over $1 billion.

However, by mid-month, the trend reversed, and on August 19, there were nearly $430 million in outflows. As the month came to a close, the flows evened out but remained shaky, with Ethereum ETFs losing $165 million on August 29.

Analysts Highlight Broader Expansion

Bloomberg’s James Seyffart noted that Ethereum ETFs alone attracted nearly $10 billion since July, totaling almost $14 billion since inception.

— James Seyffart (@JSeyff) August 29, 2025

Additionally, analyst Lucky pointed out that over 90 crypto ETPs now await U.S. approval, including Solana, XRP, and HBAR. Hence, regulators could open new pathways for institutional capital as early as September.

The Ethereum ETF momentum proves the institutions’ interest. Having other altcoin ETFs will likely increase the funding flowing into the digital assets.

Making Bitcoin Holdings More Resistant to Quantum Attacks: The El Salvador Way

by admin August 31, 2025

El Salvador has overhauled how it stores the nation’s bitcoin, saying the change both strengthens security today and prepares for technological risks that could emerge in the future.

In an announcement on Friday, the Bitcoin Office said the country’s entire reserve has been moved out of a single wallet and spread across many new ones. Each wallet will hold no more than 500 BTC, a limit meant to reduce the potential damage if any one of them were ever compromised.

Officials described the new setup as following established industry practices while also anticipating advances in quantum computing. Quantum machines, they noted, could one day break the cryptographic math that secures bitcoin, as well as everyday systems like banking, email and online communications.

The concern arises when coins are spent. To move bitcoin, the digital signature protecting those funds must be revealed on the blockchain. Today, that’s safe, but in theory, a future quantum computer could exploit the exposed information to calculate the private key and steal the coins before the transaction is confirmed.

By shifting coins into many unused wallets, El Salvador reduces the chance that its reserve is left with too many exposed keys at once. Most of its holdings remain locked behind information that cannot currently be attacked, and capping the size of each wallet means even a breach would not put the entire reserve at risk.

The government also admitted that its earlier setup — keeping everything in a single address for the sake of transparency — created unnecessary exposure. That address was used repeatedly, which meant its keys were visible on the blockchain almost continuously. In the new model, a public dashboard allows anyone to track the reserve across multiple wallets, preserving accountability without repeatedly reusing the same address.

In plain terms, the shift is like moving money out of one giant vault and into a series of smaller safes. The locks on those safes stay hidden until they are opened, and no single safe holds too much cash.

Beyond the quantum angle, this also lines up with basic bitcoin housekeeping. Experienced users often warn against reusing the same wallet over and over, since it weakens privacy and security. They also recommend breaking large balances into smaller chunks, which limits the fallout if something goes wrong.

That’s why Adam Back, one of bitcoin’s earliest pioneers and the CEO of Blockstream, praised the change. Writing on X, he said it’s “generally a good practice” to split funds into many pieces — called UTXOs in bitcoin jargon — rather than piling them into one place and reusing the same address.

Back, who invented the proof-of-work system Hashcash that inspired bitcoin and was cited by Satoshi Nakamoto, didn’t weigh in on the quantum argument directly. Instead, his comment underscored that El Salvador’s new approach reflects principles long recognized as best practice in the bitcoin world.

Most researchers believe quantum computers powerful enough to threaten bitcoin are still a decade or more away, and the network could eventually adopt new protections if needed. But El Salvador is not waiting.

By combining transparency with a more resilient storage model, the country has positioned itself as a test case for how sovereign bitcoin reserves might be managed in the future — setting out a potential blueprint that others could follow.

Tether Brings USDT to Bitcoin Via Layer-2 Network RGB

by admin August 31, 2025

In brief

  • Stablecoin giant Tether is bringing USDT to the Bitcoin network.
  • Users will be able to spend their stablecoins on Bitcoin’s network via the RGB protocol.
  • Tether says it wants Bitcoin to be “everyday money.”

Stablecoin giant Tether is pushing further into the Bitcoin ecosystem, announcing on Thursday that it would make its USDT token available on the largest crypto network via the RGB protocol.

RGB allows users to issue assets on the blockchain, opening “the door for stablecoins to exist natively on Bitcoin,” Tether said in a press release.

“For Tether, this means USDT can be transacted directly on the world’s most secure and decentralized network, bringing fast, private, and lightweight payments to billions of people globally,” the company said in the release.

The announcement comes nearly eight months after Tether said that it was making its main crypto product available on the Bitcoin blockchain via Lightning, a Layer 2 network that aims to speed up transactions. That integration marked a significant milestone for both Tether and Bitcoin, two dominant forces in crypto that had yet to combine forces.

It also follows positive developments for stablecoins, most notably the passage of the Genius Act that sets U.S. guidelines for the tokens. U.K. bank Standard Chartered has predicted that stablecoins’ market capitalization will triple by the end of 2026.

RGB (Real Good Bitcoin) uses smart contracts allowing functions to be executed on a blockchain and contain code that powers autonomous crypto applications, meme coins, and more. They have been available on other crypto networks, like Ethereum.

Tether said RGB was designed to make Bitcoin foundational for daily transactions. Users will be able to keep their stablecoins and BTC in the same wallet and make transactions offline.

“Bitcoin deserves a stablecoin that feels truly native, lightweight, private, and scalable,” said Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether. “With RGB, USD₮ gains a powerful new pathway on Bitcoin, reinforcing our belief in Bitcoin as the foundation of a freer financial future.”

El Salvador-based Tether mints USDT, the fourth-biggest cryptocurrency with a more than $167 billion  market cap and generally the most-traded digital asset. Most stablecoins are pegged to the value of the U.S. dollar.

Tether keeps a vault of dollar reserves.

Crypto traders use stablecoins to execute transactions seamlessly without using a traditional bank.

But Tether says USDT is now also used by people in emerging markets with weak currencies who want exposure to U.S. dollars.

Bitcoin Price Crash? Here's Where BTC Might Bottom Out

Bitcoin Price Crash? Here’s Where BTC Might Bottom Out

by admin August 30, 2025

Bitcoin (BTC) has continued its downward spiral as technical signals confirm bearish momentum for the flagship cryptocurrency. In the last 24 hours, Bitcoin dropped from an intraday peak of $111,420.48 to the $108,000 range, leaving investors wondering how low it could drop.

Analyst predicts $103K as potential Bitcoin bottom

According to an update from Michaël van de Poppe, a renowned crypto analyst, Bitcoin’s short-term trend is likely to remain bearish. He believes that the market is in a corrective phase and might stay on the downward path for a while till the price hits near $103,000.

You Might Also Like

Van de Poppe considers this level a possible “bottom out” point for BTC. He insisted that the current levels show weakness and indicate that the correction is not finished yet. To exit the current phase, the analyst noted that Bitcoin has to break above the $112,000 resistance level.

It’s quite clear.

Trend is slightly downwards at this point, and #Bitcoin is looking to get itself into a bottom of the correction.

I don’t think we’re done yet.

For me, being done would be to break above $112K, the level the market clearly rejected on yesterday and fell… pic.twitter.com/RzmMuycqjD

— Michaël van de Poppe (@CryptoMichNL) August 30, 2025

This price level has proven to be significant as Bitcoin faced rejection here. It indicates that sellers are still in control, a development that could prevent upward momentum for the asset.

Interestingly, a Bitcoin whale reportedly raked in $4 billion in profit within the last 48 hours. Such profit-taking moves could stand in the way of a quick rebound, and when it happens, the momentum would be weak, as highlighted by van de Poppe.

Institutional demand for BTC offers silver lining

As of this writing, the Bitcoin price was trading at $108,576.49, representing a 1.23% decline over the last 24 hours. Within this time frame, trading volume has climbed by 11.37% to $72.66 billion, signaling increased activity in spite of the plunge.

You Might Also Like

This might be as a result of institutional demand, which VanEck pointed out recently. According to the New York-based financial giant, many corporations are stacking up on the coin with 638,617 BTC added this year alone.

The figure has already flipped the 2024 total of 120,290 BTC, representing a five times increase so far.

Who Holds Bitcoin in 2025? Crypto Firm Maps Global BTC Ownership Distribution

by admin August 30, 2025

River says individuals still own the majority of bitcoin.

The U.S.-based bitcoin financial services firm revealed ownership distribution research dated Aug. 25 in a recent post on X. The study groups bitcoin supply into a few categories and shows the market share of each, using public filings, custodial address tagging and earlier blockchain research.

River estimates individuals control about 65.9% of circulating BTC, or 13.83 million coins. This bucket includes self-custodied wallets and exchange accounts that River classifies as individual.

On the institutional side, River divides holdings into businesses, ETFs and funds.

  • Businesses — a global category covering corporate treasuries and conventional firms that report bitcoin holdings — account for about 6.2% of supply, or 1.30 million BTC.
  • ETFs and funds — spot ETFs and investment vehicles that custody coins for clients — control about 7.8%, or 1.63 million BTC.

Governments are shown at about 1.5%, or 306,000 BTC, based on sovereign addresses tracked from public sources.

Two special categories round out the distribution:

  • Lost bitcoin makes up about 7.6%, or 1.58 million BTC. River says this is inferred from age heuristics, which show coins that have not moved for many years and are likely unrecoverable.
  • Satoshi/Patoshi holdings are pegged at about 4.6%, or 968,000 BTC, based on earlier research into early-era mining patterns.

Finally, about 5.2% of the supply, or 1.09 million BTC, has yet to be mined before the hard cap of 21 million is reached.

River’s research estimates as of Aug. 25, 2025, individuals hold 65.9% of BTC, funds 7.8%

In plain terms, River’s research is an attempt to map who holds bitcoin today, not to forecast future prices. The estimates are not definitive, since custodians aggregate many clients, some wallets are misclassified, and ownership can be opaque.

River’s conclusion is that individuals still dominate holdings, but the institutional share is expanding, helped by the growth of ETFs and companies that now treat bitcoin as a balance-sheet asset.

Bitcoin Going to $1 Million, but Current Holders Still Early

Bitcoin Going to $1 Million, but Current Holders Still Early

by admin August 30, 2025

Eric Trump, the son of US president Donald Trump and the co-founder of Bitcoin (BTC) mining firm American Bitcoin (ABTC), said on Friday that there is “no question” that BTC hits $1 million in the next several years.

Trump previously predicted that BTC would reach $1 million per coin in December 2024. Speaking to the audience at the Bitcoin 2025 Asia conference in Hong Kong, Trump said:

“You’ve got nation states that are buying the hell out of Bitcoin. You’ve got Fortune 500 companies that are buying the hell out of Bitcoin. You’ve got the biggest families, you’ve got the biggest companies on Earth that believe in this digital store of value. Everybody wants Bitcoin. Everybody is buying Bitcoin.

That’s an incredible thing, and that’s why I’ve always said that I really believe in the next several years, Bitcoin will hit $1 million. There’s no question that Bitcoin hits $1 million,” Trump continued.

Trump said that despite the increased demand from financial institutions and wealthy individuals, current Bitcoin adopters are still “early” because the vast majority of market participants have not yet caught on to digital money and the future of finance.

Gryphon approves merger with American Bitcoin amid slight BTC drawdown

Shareholders of Gryphon Digital Mining, a publicly listed US-based Bitcoin miner, approved a reverse merger with ABTC in August, and will trade under the ABTC ticker once the deal is completed and the stock is relisted on the Nasdaq exchange in September.

Gryphon’s stock soared by about 231% since May 2025, when the initial deal was announced, and rose by over 42% on Thursday in anticipation of the merger.

The deal came amid a minor correction of nearly 13% from Bitcoin’s all-time high price of about $124,500 on August 14.

Bitcoin’s price has now dipped below the 50-day exponential moving average (EMA), a dynamic support level, which could indicate further pressure to the downside in the short term, even as analysts and industry executives are calling for higher long-term prices.

Historic Flip: Bitcoin ETFs On Pace To Surpass Gold ETFs In AUM

by admin August 30, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

In the dynamic financial sector, Bitcoin ETFs are rapidly gaining ground against their gold counterparts, with inflows pushing total assets under management toward record highs. Bitcoin ETFs are set to overtake gold ETFs in total assets under management.

Bitcoin ETFs Cement Role As Institutional Gateway To Crypto

Bitcoin Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) are on the brink of making history globally. In an X post, the Kobeissi Letter, an industry-leading commentary on global capital markets, has revealed that BTC ETFs are on track to surpass Gold ETFs in assets under management (AUM) for the first time in history, marking a historic milestone in global markets. Over the past 12 months, AUM in the largest cryptocurrency ETFs has doubled to $150 billion, while gold ETFs have climbed 40% to a record of $180 billion.

The comparison highlights how rapidly momentum has shifted. Just three years ago, gold ETFs were five times larger than Bitcoin ETFs. Presently, with accelerating inflows into digital asset products, that gap is narrowing at a historic speed.

If current trends continue, Bitcoin ETFs could surpass gold ETFs as early as next year. This is a symbolic flip that underscores the rise of crypto from speculative asset to mainstream portfolio allocation.

BTC ETFs growth against Gold ETFs | Source: Chart from The Kobeissi Letter

Lately, ETFs are proving to be the engine behind the current crypto bull market. According to Ucan_Coin, BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, oversees nearly 2,000 funds, with about 1,400 of them being ETFs. Clients buy into these funds, while BlackRock earns fees on the assets under management.

However, the Bitcoin Spot ETF fee is just 0.25%, but the power lies in scale and liquidity. Over the last two years, ETFs have provided the critical fuel for this rally, with nearly 20% of all liquidity entering crypto now flowing directly from ETF products.

As Ucan_Coin highlights, BlackRock’s IBIT stands out. As the chart demonstrates, IBIT is the locomotive pulling the entire market, driving inflows and setting the pace for the broader bull run.

ETF Inflows Signal Rising Institutional Appetite For Bitcoin

The US spot Bitcoin ETFs are gaining remarkable momentum, while generating $5 to $10 billion in daily volume on their most active trading days. Pushpendra Singh, Co-founder of PushpendraTech and SmartViewAi, has explained that this surge is a clear sign that institutional investors are increasingly seeking regulated exposure to Bitcoin, and ETFs are rapidly becoming their preferred gateway.

Despite the ETF boom, Binance continues to dominate the spot market, processing between $10 to $18 billion in daily spot volume and holding a 29% market share. This is more than double the 13% market share currently held by US-based ETFs, and it puts Binance comfortably ahead of other major exchanges in terms of liquidity.

Bitcoin Home Invasion Ringleader Gets More Prison Time for Beating Witness

by admin August 30, 2025

In brief

  • Remy St Felix was previously convicted of leading a home invasion crew that swiped crypto from victims.
  • Already serving 47 years in prison, he was sentenced to six additional years for beating a witness.
  • So-called wrench attacks, or physical assaults on crypto holders, have accelerated this year.

A Florida man sentenced to 47 years in prison last September for orchestrating a string of violent home invasions against crypto owners received additional punishment last week, awarded extra time for attacking a witness, according to the U.S. Justice Department.

Remy St Felix, 25, was sentenced to another seven years in prison for attacking a witness who testified to his involvement in the sweeping home invasion scheme, in which some crypto owners were assaulted and bound with zip ties, authorities said in a press release.

St Felix approached the witness, who was shackled and handcuffed, in a North Carolina-based detention center, striking him in the face, head, and body in October, according to authorities. Taking place after St Felix’s conviction on nine counts—including kidnapping and brandishing a firearm in furtherance of crimes of violence—he called the witness a “rat,” they said.

St Felix told the witness that his 47-year prison sentence was their fault, the Department said, adding that he later “gloated” about the beating to his girlfriend and mother.

In May, St Felix pleaded guilty to one count of retaliation against a witness for testimony in a criminal trial. However, 36 months of the sentence are expected to run concurrent to his previous sentence, effectively lengthening his time total behind bars by nearly four years on paper.

St Felix’s second conviction comes amid an uptick in cases of physical violence against crypto owners. Often referred to as “wrench attacks,” these methods seek to surpass the most advanced security measures an individual could have by relying on violence and brute force.

The pattern has been especially notable in Paris, where multiple victims have had their fingers severed while in captivity. Authorities in the region have made dozens of arrests, including a 24-year-old mastermind in June. Another wrench attack in France was reported this week.

In one instance in the U.S., St Felix’s crew abducted an individual from their Florida home, then drove 120 miles away and beat them while they were held hostage. Another time, a Texas family was restrained for three hours before the group absconded with cash and luxury watches.

St Felix was charged alongside 13 co-conspirators, and in total, authorities say the group stole $3.5 million worth of cryptocurrency. St Felix was ordered to pay $524,000 in restitution, representing the value of stolen assets, alongside his initial sentencing in September.

At the time, another co-conspirator, Jarod Gabriel Seemungal, was sentenced to 20 years in prison. He was ordered to pay $4 million in restitution for providing members of the home invasion team with rental cars, hotel rooms, and firearms.

Crypto Price Today (August 30) Bitcoin Falls But Memecore Lead Gains

Bitcoin Falls but MemeCore Lead Gains

by admin August 30, 2025

The crypto market pulled back on August 30 with the global market cap dropping to $3.76 trillion, slipping 0.99% in just one day. Daily volumes also weakened, sliding 9.66% to $166.42 billion.

Bitcoin (BTC), which is the top cryptocurrency by market cap, led the retreat, trading at $108,455 after losing 1.15% in 24 hours. It recorded $70.6 billion in turnover.

Top Gainers Defy The Weak Market

Despite Bitcoin dropping, some tokens gained during the day. MemeCore (M) was the top performer, soaring nearly 50% to reach $0.70, thanks to $54 million in trades. Conflux (CFX) also saw an uptick, gaining 8.84% to hit $0.19, with $134 million in trading volume.

In addition, Story (IP) climbed 7.46% to $6.49. The meme coin Bonk (BONK) jumped 7.29% to $0.0000219, with $624 million in turnover, making it one of the most actively traded tokens. OKB (OKB) also made its mark, increasing by 6.19% to $175.80 with $300 million in volume.

Losers Lead as Trending Tokens Rally

Several major tokens also lost ground. Pyth Network (PYTH) led the slump, crashing 14.61% to $0.1954. Raydium (RAY) fell by 7.23% to $3.40. Solana (SOL) dropped 5.03% to $198.84, extending its recent weakness. Jupiter declined 3.75% while Jito shed 3.68%.

The trending coins on the other side had a different outcome. Memecore was again at the top, followed closely by Pi Network (PI), which managed to gain a modest 4.1%, landing at $0.37. Trusta shot up 95.1%, climbing to $0.133, while SKALE (SKL)also jumped 31.78% to trade at $0.0347.

Market Sentiment And Outlook

In terms of the market view, the fear and greed index is now sitting at 39, indicating that investors are more on the fearful side. While the Fear and Greed Index is at 39, Bitcoin has a dominance of 57.5% and Ethereum (ETH) holds a 14% share.

On the other hand, the Altcoin Season Index is at 58, which further indicates that the market is looking more like a Bitcoin season rather than an altcoin rally.

Open interest showed strength, with perpetuals climbing to $978.74 billion against $3.87 billion in futures. Volatility also stayed high, with Bitcoin at 41.06 and Ethereum at 73.92. Hence, traders face a risky backdrop even as Ethereum gas fees remain steady.

Bitcoin weakness kept the market under pressure, but selective altcoins delivered sharp breakouts.

Bitcoin price eyes $100k crash as Convano adopts Metaplanet-style buying strategy

by admin August 30, 2025

Bitcoin continued its downward trend after a major options expiry on Friday. It also plunged as Convano, a sleepy Japanese company, announced a BTC buying strategy.

Summary

  • Bitcoin price could crash to $100,000 as the recent momentum wanes.
  • Convano, a Japanese company, aims to buy coins worth $3 billion.
  • Bitcoin strategy companies have lost momentum this year.

Convano to accumulate $3 billion worth of Bitcoin

The Bitcoin (BTC) price, at last check on Saturday, is down more than 5.4% over the previous seven days, and down 13% from its all-time high this year. The rising uncertainty about the Federal Reserve, rising crypto liquidations, and a multi-billion-dollar options expiry triggered a crash.

Still, despite the current crash, a small Japanese nail salon operator known as Convano has launched a new Bitcoin buying strategy. It is now rising about $3 billion, which it will use to acquire 21,000 Bitcoin. Its planned capital raise is much higher than its market capitalization of $386 million.

Convano hopes to become a successful story like Strategy and Metaplanet. Strategy, formerly known as MicroStrategy, has seen its market capitalization jump from approximately $1 billion in 2020 to $90 billion, primarily driven by its Bitcoin buying strategy.

Similarly, Metaplanet has moved from being a hotel owner to a $2 billion company, helped by its 18,991 Bitcoin purchases.

The risk for Convano is that Bitcoin treasury companies are not doing well. Strategy stock has plunged by over 25% from its 2024 high, while Metaplanet has crashed by over 50% from the year-to-date high.

Other top companies that have adopted this strategy, such as GameStop, MicroCloud Hologram, and Trump Media, have also slumped. According to BitcoinTreasuries, there are now over 100 companies holding over 989,926 coins.

Bitcoin technical analysis

BTC price chart | Source: crypto.news

The daily timeframe chart shows that the BTC price has crashed after peaking at a record high of $124,200 earlier this month. BTC has moved below the 100-day and 50-day Exponential Moving Averages, while the Average Directional Index rose to 19, indicating that the downtrend is strengthening.

It has also formed a double-top pattern and moved below the neckline at $111,834. This pattern has a height of about 9.3%. Measuring the same distance from the neckline means that it may crash to $100,000 in the coming days.
