Corporate Clients Hold Up to 15% of Assets on Mercado Bitcoin, Exchange Exec Says

by admin September 27, 2025

Corporate clients, mainly small and medium enterprises, account for between 10% and 15% of all assets under custody on Mercado Bitcoin, Brazil’s largest crypto exchange, according to Daniel Cunha, the firm’s head of corporate development.

“These companies barely move more than 10% of their holdings at any given time,” Cunha told CoinDesk in an interview at the exchange’s DAC 2025 conference. “They’re here to hold, not trade.”

The firms are primarily using bitcoin to protect their cash reserves from global volatility, he said, citing growing concern over inflation, currency devaluation and geopolitical instability.

The trend grew when companies like Strategy (MSTR) started adopting bitcoin as a corporate treasury asset. Strategy now holds 639,835 BTC, making it the world’s largest corporate holder of the cryptocurrency. Publicly-traded companies, as a whole, hold over 1 million BTC, but how much small and medium enterprises hold isn’t known.

Cunha did not reveal the exact figures these companies were holding on Mercado Bitcoin. Brazil has a history of cryptocurrency adoption, ranking fifth in Chainalysis’ Global Crypto Adoption Index, yet it only has one publicly-traded company holding BTC, Méliuz. OranjeBTC is set to soon list on Brazil’s B3 exchange to become the country’s largest publicly traded corporate holder of the cryptocurrency with $400 million in its treasury.

Cunha said these companies aren’t chasing yield or experimenting with altcoins, but rather are focusing on BTC and stablecoins like USDT and USDC to manage their treasuries. These holdings serve conservative, cash-management purposes rather than speculative plays.

The rise in institutional activity is also having a side effect: it’s reducing the overall volatility of crypto markets, Cunha said. That’s making bitcoin a more appealing option for treasurers, even asthe enterprise segment in Brazil is still just starting to adopt crypto.

“The big guys in Faria Lima? They’re on the sidelines,” he said, referring to the financial district in Brazil’s largest city São Paulo often compared to Wall Street. “They haven’t moved yet. It’s all waiting to happen.”

Cipher Stock Rises as Bitcoin Miner Boosts Debt Offering to $1.1 Billion Following Google Deal

by admin September 27, 2025

In brief

  • Cipher Mining on Friday announced it had upped the price of its convertible debt offering.
  • The Nasdaq-listed Bitcoin miner revealed a $3 billion AI hosting deal on Thursday, backstopped by Google.
  • Bitcoin miners are increasingly delving into the world of AI computing, as both require immense computing power.

Bitcoin miner Cipher Mining on Friday announced it had upped the price of its convertible debt offering, one day after revealing a $3 billion AI cloud hosting deal backstopped by Google.

The Nasdaq-listed miner said its convertible senior notes were now priced at $1.1 billion after initially being offered for $800 million.

The notes will be for “persons reasonably believed to be qualified institutional buyers,” and will be due in 2031. Senior notes are a form of debt a company can issue to investors. Convertible notes can be turned into company equity by the buyer.

Cipher’s stock (CIFR) was trading up by nearly 5% on Friday at a price around $12.20 a share, after falling sharply on Thursday following an initial spike at the start of the trading. CIFR has nearly pulled even on the week after being significantly down earlier in the day.

The company on Thursday announced that it signed a 10-year, roughly $3 billion high-performance computing colocation agreement with Fluidstack. The deal will see Cipher deliver 168 MW of critical IT load, supported by a maximum of 244 MW of gross capacity, at its Barber Lake site in Colorado City, Texas.

As part of the deal, Google said it would backstop $1.4 billion of Fluidstack’s lease obligations to support project-related debt financing. In return, the tech giant will receive warrants to acquire approximately 24 million shares of Cipher common stock, or a 5.4% pro forma equity ownership stake.

In the Bitcoin mining world, companies use warehouses full of computers to process transactions on the crypto network. Because they’ve amassed so much computing power, some miners have pivoted their infrastructure to address growing AI demand.

Experts previously told Decrypt that while both industries use data centers, it can be difficult to make the swing from AI to crypto mining.

Bitcoin miner TeraWulf announced in August that Google was providing an incremental $1.4 billion backstop to support project-related debt financing, upping its total stake to $3.2 billion.

Bitcoin and Ethereum Prices Wobble Fight ETF Outflows

by admin September 27, 2025

Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) experienced significant price instability on Friday, September 26, with Bitcoin and ETH breaking below key support levels of $110,000 and $4000, respectively before reclaiming it.

In the past 24 hours, Ethereum (ETH) has gained 3.82%, climbing to $4,050 with a market cap of $488.8 billion. Bitcoin (BTC) also edged higher, up 0.39% to $109,983, holding a market cap above $2.19 trillion, according to CoinMarketCap. Despite the uptick, trading volumes for both assets declined, signaling that broader market sentiment remains cautious.

Bitcoin ETF outflows

The recent price correction for Bitcoin has accelerated, with the asset dropping below the $110,000 level. This movement coincides with significant selling pressure from institutional investors. According to market data from analytics platform SoSoValue show that the US Spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded outflows of $258 million on Thursday.

Ethereum follows suit

Ethereum has mirrored Bitcoin’s downturn, experiencing similar price instability. The market for the second-largest cryptocurrency saw investor withdrawals totaling $251 million from its own spot ETF products.

The combined outflow of over $500 million signals a widespread “risk-off” sentiment among institutional players, suggesting they are reducing their exposure to digital assets in anticipation of further volatility.

This trend suggests that large-scale investors are actively reducing their exposure to digital assets in anticipation of further market volatility. The current downturn follows a period of instability where Bitcoin recently lost key support levels, while ETH’s supply on centralized exchanges has hit its lowest point since 2016.

The Crypto Fear and Greed Index dropped to 32 (Fear), down from a neutral 41 yesterday, according to CoinMarketCap. The shift reflects growing investor anxiety after weeks of ETF outflows and weak technical signals, marking one of the lowest sentiment levels since March’s “extreme fear” reading.

The substantial outflows from institutional investment products mark a clear shift in market sentiment, acting as the primary driver for the current weakness in Bitcoin and Ethereum prices. Continued withdrawals could lead to further price declines in the short term unless there is a significant improvement in overall market confidence. For now, investor caution appears to be shaping the immediate future of the digital asset market.

Will Bitcoin Finish the Month Above $105K? Traders Are Losing Faith

by admin September 27, 2025

In brief

  • Predictors on Myriad now think Bitcoin will hit $105,000 before $125,000.
  • Odds have flipped more than 20% in the last two days, as BTC continues its weekly slide.
  • The asset now sits only about 4% above the $105,000 mark.

The recent weakness in Bitcoin’s price has predictors on Myriad feeling bearish about the asset’s next major price milestone—now predicting a dip to $105,000 before it makes a new all-time high at $125,000.

Odds of the next stop being $105,000 have increased to 68% in the last week, a gain of more than 25% in that timeframe. The bulk of that move has taken place in the last two days, with odds swinging more than 20% in favor of $105,000 since Wednesday night.

Myriad is a unit of Dastan, the parent company of an edtorially independent Decrypt.

The market’s volatility has been aided by Bitcoin’s gradual decline, now down 5% in the last week and changing hands below $110,000 for the first time since September 2.

The top crypto asset is flat in the last 24 hours amid news that U.S. core inflation held at 2.9% in August.

In addition to inflation data, markets are now also contending with new tariff headlines courtesy of President Donald Trump, leaving risk assets “under pressure” and “capital flows cautious,” according to Bitunix analyst Dean Chen.

“The recently announced high tariffs remain an uncertain factor that could deliver one-off inflationary pressure while weighing on growth,” Chen told Decrypt on Friday.

More than $162 billion in crypto valuations has been wiped out this week as Bitcoin just barely hangs on to a percentage point gain since September began. The month typically signifies a brutal stretch for Bitcoin, which has dropped 3.77% on average during the month in each year since 2013.

It will need a major turnaround to climb back towards its all-time high of $124,118. At its current price, BTC sits just 4% above the $105,000 mark that will bring resolution to the Myriad market which has attracted more than $300,000 in trading volume. It would need to gain 14% to resolve the other way.

Bitcoin (BTC) Miner Riot Platforms (RIOT) Upgraded

by admin September 27, 2025

Riot Platforms (RIOT) picked up back-to-back upgrades from Wall Street on Friday, with JPMorgan and Citigroup both raising their outlooks on the bitcoin miner amid changing industry economics and a shift toward high-performance computing.

JPMorgan boosted Riot to overweight from neutral and raised its price target to $19 from $15, calling it the most attractive among its mining peers. Citi upgraded to buy from neutral and lifted its price target to $24 from $13.75. Both firms pointed to Riot’s pivot into artificial intelligence and cloud services as a potential growth driver as mining profits tighten. Riot was modestly outperforming a sharply lower sector on Friday, declining “just” 1.2% to $16.55.

Alongside its upgrade of RIOT, JPMorgan downgraded the previously very hot-handed IREN to underweight from neutral. Shares are down 9.7% on Friday, but still higher by 300% year-to-date. CleanSpark (CLSK) was cut to neutral and it’s lower by 9.3% Friday and higher by 34% year-to-date.

The bank maintained its buy rating on Cipher Mining (CIFR), and doubled its price target to $12 from $6. The shares were 3.5% lower to $11.20 at publication time.

MARA Holdings (MARA) was kept at overweight, with a reduced price objective of $20, down from $22. The stock was 1% lower around $15.90 in early trading.

JPMorgan’s analysts are assigning a 50% probability that Riot, Cipher, and IREN each secure near-term high performance computing (HPC) colocation agreements, using Core Scientific’s (CORZ) 800 MW CoreWeave (CRWV) deal as a benchmark. The bank values HPC colocation contracts at $3.7 million to $8.6 million per gross megawatt (MW).

Bitcoin Fails To Hold $110K, Here’s Why
Crypto Trends

Bitcoin Fails To Hold $110K, Here’s Why

by admin September 27, 2025

Key takeaways:

  • Strong US economic data and rising gold prices shift investor focus away from Bitcoin’s upside.

  • Regulatory uncertainty and vague US Strategic Bitcoin Reserve plans keep BTC price down despite macro tailwinds.

Bitcoin (BTC) failed to reclaim the $110,000 level on Friday, despite high expectations from traders following the monthly BTC options expiry. Hopes for a post-expiry rally were dashed as bearish momentum continued, driven by several headwinds, including macroeconomic data and a possible investigation targeting listed cryptocurrency treasury companies.

The US Commerce Department reported Friday that the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index rose 2.7% in August compared to the previous year, matching economists’ forecasts. Persistent inflation is one of the reasons the US Federal Reserve remains cautious about lowering interest rates.

Bitcoin fails to keep up despite gold nearing a record high

Traders have dialed back their expectations for interest rates to fall to 3.75% or lower by the end of the year, based on futures markets.

The CME FedWatch tool currently shows a 67% implied probability of two 0.25% rate cuts by year-end, down from 79% just a week ago. Bitcoin traders’ frustrations were further amplified as gold surged to $3,770 on Friday, just 0.5% shy of its all-time high, signaling that investors are leaning toward traditional safe-haven assets amid uncertainty.

The S&P 500 posted gains on Friday after data showed a 0.6% rise in US consumer spending for August. Economists had previously anticipated a slowdown in spending toward year-end, citing rising prices and concerns over a weakening labor market, according to Yahoo Finance.

A strong US economy tends to support stock markets by driving corporate earnings and lowering perceived risk, particularly amid growing worries about the escalating trade war. US President Donald Trump’s administration recently introduced another round of import tariffs, including a 100% duty on patented pharmaceuticals.

Regulatory pressure and policy delays frustrate Bitcoin traders

Beyond macroeconomic factors, the cryptocurrency market has faced its own challenges, adding further pressure to Bitcoin’s already struggling price.

A Wall Street Journal report on Thursday revealed that several cryptocurrency treasury firms had been contacted by US regulators. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority reportedly raised concerns about unusually high trading volumes prior to corporate announcements.

Regulations prohibit public companies from selectively disclosing material, nonpublic information—prompting suspicion over sharp gains in certain listed stocks days before relevant disclosures. “It’s typically the first step in an investigation. Whether it goes full, full length, it’s anybody’s guess,” David Chase, a former SEC enforcement attorney, told WSJ.

Related: Crypto markets are down, but corporate proxies are doing far worse

Traders are also growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of follow-through on the US strategic Bitcoin Reserve plan. Although the Executive Order signed in March referred to “budget-neutral” strategies to accumulate Bitcoin, no concrete steps have been announced. Despite repeated promises to audit the government’s cryptocurrency holdings, no action has been taken.

In the end, Bitcoin’s price continues to face pressure from a favorable macroeconomic backdrop supporting the stock market and mounting uncertainty from a possible SEC investigation and the opaque status of US Bitcoin reserves.

Bitcoin Might Lose $100,000 Level If This Happens

by admin September 26, 2025

Although the Bitcoin bull run has been consistently interrupted by recurring price dips, the leading cryptocurrency has now held above the $100,000 mark for 142 consecutive days.

While this seems impressive, this record is on the verge of closing, according to a Bitcoin price prediction issued by crypto analyst Ali Martinez.

The analyst shared a chart showing Bitcoin hovering around $109,300 as of September 26 — a significant pullback from recent highs witnessed above $116,000.

Marked by historical price actions, the chart highlights $107,200 as an important support level for Bitcoin, which could determine its next price move.

Bitcoin to retest $100,000?

According to the analyst, Bitcoin is at risk of retesting its six-figure streak if the leading cryptocurrency closes below the $107,200 support level. The analyst emphasized that a dip below this support level might see Bitcoin retest $100,000 or possibly fall as low as $93,000 — a level not seen since May 2025.

As of writing, Bitcoin is trading around $109,033 — a notable decrease of 2.07% over the last day, according to data from CoinMarketCap.

Source: CoinMarketCap

While the asset shows no sign of a possible resurgence soon, market watchers are worried that Bitcoin is close to breaking the specified support zone, putting it at risk of retesting $100,000 again.

Notably, Bitcoin’s resilience above $100,000 for the last 142 days is attributable to growing institutional interest and consistent inflows recorded by the spot Bitcoin ETF.

However, recent market trends show the leading cryptocurrency losing momentum amid high profit-taking activities among holders and rising exchange inflows, which suggest that traders are beginning to exercise caution.

Although large corporations like MicroStrategy and BlackRock have remained resilient in their Bitcoin accumulation strategies, the Bitcoin ecosystem is still faced with high selling pressure, causing its price to fall below previous lows.

Nonetheless, analysts have suggested that a decisive hold above $107,200 could restore confidence in the Bitcoin ecosystem, allowing the cryptocurrency to maintain its close above $100,000 and potentially never retest that level again.

Bitcoin And Ethereum Prices Crash, But Technicals Show What’s Next

by admin September 26, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

Both Bitcoin and Ethereum have extended their retracements into the past 24 hours, puncturing price thresholds that many technical analysts had deemed as important support levels. Bitcoin has slipped below $110,000, while Ethereum has also broken beneath the $4,000 price level.

The most recent correction questions the durability of the uptrend and whether this is a corrective pullback or the beginning of an extended downtrend. The charts of both assets, however, offer technical signals that point to the next direction for price action.

Bitcoin Is Testing Range Highs And Trend Anchors

Technical analysis laid out by TraderMercury on the social media platform X noted that Bitcoin is currently bouncing from the previous range highs, along with the 12-hour 200MAs trend. In other words, Bitcoin’s price action has dipped down to a confluence zone where resistance and the 200-period moving averages on the 12-hour timeframe converge. That zone is acting as a pivot. If buyers defend it, the correction may be contained. However, if they don’t, the downside could open further.

There are still signs of life and buyer interest around that region, which is positive in the short term. But the higher-timeframe outlook, as TraderMercury stated, is “dauntingly boring and choppy.” This is pointing to the Bitcoin price’s oscillation without strong directional conviction on mid and high frames. That means any breakout (up or down) could be a clearer signal of where momentum wants to take things next.

Source: Chart from TraderMercury on X

A notable red flag is if Bitcoin’s price begins to drift back inside the prior 8-month range below $108,000. That would indicate a failure of the breakout move that preceded it, and potentially signal a return to range dynamics or worse. The more bullish scenario is that Bitcoin carves out a move away from that range. Until then, the 12-hour and daily moving averages, plus the prior horizontal pivots around $108,000 to $111,000, will all act as tension zones to monitor.

Ethereum Maintains Favorable Context On Higher Timeframes

Despite breaking below $4,000, Ethereum has steadily maintained above a 4-year range. However, the most recent downtrend means that it has lost the 200MAs on the 4-hour candlestick timeframe chart. According to TraderMercury, this is an objective weakness that has been seen only one other time in the past five months.

However, this weakness doesn’t translate into a full-blown bearish narrative. Ethereum’s price action lost the same trend back in May, only for it to carve out a higher low on the weekly and resume upward movement into new highs.  Therefore, the market only becomes dangerous for ETH if its price breaks below $3,900. That’s a threshold TraderMercury flagged as a point of no return for the current setup.

Until then, a reclaim of major higher averages on the daily to weekly timeframe, for instance, would act as a clean risk-on bullish signal if it happens soon.

$3,900 is the line in the sand for Ethereum. A bounce is always possible if it can hold above that and begin to re-engage with multi-month moving averages. If that fails, deeper support could come into play around $3,600.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading at $109,600, and Ethereum is trading at $3,940.

Bitcoin Accumulation Trend Shows Signs Of Weakening, What Does This Mean?

by admin September 26, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

While Bitcoin’s price has declined sharply from its recent all-time high of $124,000, the development has caused a wave of concerns and uncertainty within the community. Several metrics are starting to reflect this waning sentiment among investors toward the largest cryptocurrency asset.

A Cooling Accumulation Bitcoin Trend Score

When a crypto asset’s price experiences a persistent downward trend, history reveals that the negative movement mostly hampers investors’ sentiment. The same can be said for Bitcoin, with the current state of its market and the action of investors toward BTC’s recent price pullback.

Following an examination of the Bitcoin Accumulation Trend Score, Glassnode, a leading financial and on-chain analytics platform, revealed that the metric is showing signs of weakness. This cooling period in the crucial metric indicates that large and long-term BTC investors are reducing their aggressive purchasing habits.

According to the on-chain platform, the BTC accumulation trend score has softened with conviction from large cohorts despite elevated costs. Even though the indicator still demonstrates healthy levels of holding, the recent softening points to a break in the surge of accumulation that may have been boosting the market uptrend and confidence.

BTC accumulation slowing down | Source: Chart from Glassnode on X

Such a change currently may signal a transitory stage in which institutions and whales reevaluate their positions in light of altered sentiment toward cryptocurrencies and changing macroeconomic periods.

Glassnode highlighted that a more cautious bid is frequently indicated by lighter accumulation. At the end, this cautious trend leaves the BTC market susceptible to a supply overhang until demand picks up speed once again.

Market Eyes Shift As BTC Exchange Inflows Drop

Investors’ conviction in Bitcoin has not yet fully faded, as evidenced by a drop in BTC total Inflows to all crypto exchanges. In a quick-take post on the CryptoQuant platform, Nino, a market expert, claims that the declining BTC exchange inflows hint at a possible shift in market dynamics and sentiment.

Nino determined the continuous decline using the 7-day Moving Average (MA) time frame. Given the present market state, the expert noted that this trend could be explained in multiple ways. When there is a high influx, it often points to potential selling pressure, and derivative markets face a more complex situation than spot exchanges.

Furthermore, a surge in inflows may not necessarily imply a clear market direction but rather the potential for future high volatility due to the fact that the funds can be used to open both long and short positions. As a result, the declining inflow might suggest a rising confidence among holders to retain their assets off exchanges. Considering the trend, a short-term supply reduction becomes highly likely.

At the time of writing, BTC was trading at $109,492, showing a nearly 2% drop within the last 24 hours. Despite the fading momentum, its trading volume in the past day has increased by over 36%, indicating a gradual resurgence in bullish bets.
