Ohtani takes big leap, earns first win of season for Dodgers

LOS ANGELES — Shohei Ohtani’s 87th pitch on Wednesday, a slider, induced a harmless groundout that also triggered a milestone. With it, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ two-way superstar completed five innings for the first time since coming back from a second repair of his ulnar collateral ligament, a sign that his prolonged pitching rehab had finally reached its conclusion.

Ohtani, though, had no time to appreciate the moment — it was his turn to hit.

Rather than make the rounds along the third-base dugout and take a rest on the bench, Ohtani hurriedly donned a batting helmet, strapped on some elbow and shin guards, grabbed his bat and readied himself to lead off the bottom of the fifth inning. By that point, he had already done most of the heavy lifting — by igniting a four-run rally, by holding the visiting Cincinnati Reds to one run and by setting the tone in his first Dodger win of the season.

“I’m excited for Shohei,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after a 5-1, sweep-clinching victory. “You know, he was one hitter away from not getting a chance to get a win because of the pitch count, so I think it was good for him to get that win.”

For now, at least, the Dodgers are essentially treating five innings — and thus, somewhere in the neighborhood of 90 pitches — as Ohtani’s limit this season. Ohtani called reaching that threshold “really key in terms of moving forward,” but the way he got there was just as important.

After back-to-back starts in which he allowed a combined nine runs in 8⅓ innings against the last-place Colorado Rockies and Los Angeles Angels, Ohtani relied heavily on his breaking pitches while limiting the Reds to one run — on a solo homer by Noelvi Marte — and striking out a season-high nine batters. Ohtani had not thrown a single curveball until his eighth start of the season, on Aug. 6, then flashed only 11 of them over a stretch of three outings. On Wednesday, Ohtani uncorked 17 of them, four of which resulted in strikeouts.

After relying heavily on his four-seam fastball and sweeper early in his return, Ohtani was suddenly leaning on what might amount to his fifth-best pitch, a key in his quest to consistently pitch deep into games.

“We’d had a plan of kind of living away from the fastball as much as we had in the past couple starts,” Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing said. “That doesn’t mean we weren’t going to throw it tonight, but we were very off-speed-heavy early on. That just opened up doors later with the fastball for the last two innings.”

Early in his return, Ohtani explained, the goal was to make sure his fastball velocity was where it needed to be. The sweeper functioned as an effective secondary weapon, helping him navigate shorter outings. Those two accounted for 81% of the pitches Ohtani threw when he faced the Reds in Cincinnati on July 30, a start that was interrupted by leg cramps. About a month later, Ohtani threw only 35% sweepers and fastballs. The other 65% was absorbed by splitters, sinkers, cutters, sliders and, mostly, curveballs.

“I think the great thing about Shohei is he can command, when he’s right, four or five pitches,” Roberts said. “When you’re trying to go through a lineup three times, you’ve got to at times be able to go to different pitches and sequences. To continue to build him up and give us options if we want to get a little bit more length out of him is certainly helpful, but this was a good marker, to get to 90 pitches through five innings.”

Ohtani threw seven different pitches in a scoreless first inning, ranging from 76 to 99 mph. He issued two walks and threw two wild pitches in the second, but got out of the inning unscathed by striking out Ke’Bryan Hayes on a 100 mph fastball and Matt McLain on an 89 mph sweeper. After Marte’s homer in the top of the third — on a first-pitch cutter down the middle — Ohtani retired eight consecutive batters to finish his outing.

In the middle of that, he led off the bottom of the fourth with a line drive single, accounting for the first baserunner allowed by Reds left-hander Nick Lodolo. Teoscar Hernandez, Andy Pages, Enrique Hernandez and Rushing, who came through after the Reds intentionally walked Miguel Rojas ahead of him, contributed their own singles, giving the Dodgers a lead they would not relinquish.

The Dodgers went on to win their fourth straight game, giving themselves a two-game lead on the San Diego Padres in the National League West, and seem to be trending upward. Their bullpen, ravaged by injury for most of the year, is finally starting to round back into form. Their offense will get two key pieces back in Max Muncy and Tommy Edman in the near future. And their rotation — consisting of Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, Clayton Kershaw, Emmet Sheehan and Ohtani — looks especially formidable.

“Just looking at our roster, I really like where we’re at in terms of our starting pitchers and bullpen,” Ohtani said through an interpreter. “I just want to make sure that I do my part as a starting pitcher to go deeper into games and help out the bullpen.”

Whales see this memecoin as the next big token

by admin August 27, 2025

Disclosure: This article does not represent investment advice. The content and materials featured on this page are for educational purposes only.

Ethereum-based Pepeto has raised $6m, built a 100k-strong community, and offers early investors a chance at massive gains.

Summary

  • Pepeto surges as DOGE and PEPE lose momentum in the 2025 bull run.
  • Ethereum-based Pepeto presale raises $6m, boasting 100k+ strong community.
  • With working tools and staking rewards, Pepeto aims to be the next Shiba Inu.

Is the 2025 crypto bull run about to reveal the next big memecoin? Dogecoin (DOGE) and PEPE  are still in the game, but both are losing strength.

At the same time, an Ethereum-based memecoin, Pepeto (PEPETO), is moving quickly with a presale that keeps growing. It has already raised over $6m and built a community of more than 100,000 people.

Pepeto combines working tools with strong hype, making it one of those rare chances where small early investments can turn into life-changing gains. With its presale price set at $0.000000149 and real solutions already live, many investors are now asking: Could Pepeto be the next Shiba Inu by December 2025?

Pepeto’s rapid rise in 2025

Pepeto is becoming one of the fastest-growing Ethereum memecoins of 2025. Unlike many new projects that choose Layer 2 blockchains, Pepeto is built directly on Ethereum mainnet.

Its presale, now live at $0.000000149, has raised over $6m and attracted more than 100,000 supporters. This shows that traders see Pepeto as more than a passing trend — it looks like a serious investment.

The real advantage comes from the meaning of Pepeto’s name: T for technology and O for optimization. PepetoSwap offers zero-fee trading, with every swap adding buying pressure for the token. PepetoBridge allows safe transfers across chains within one app.

These working products have already caught the attention of big investors, the same type of early whales who first saw the potential in DOGE and SHIB. Now, other smart wallets are following, with whales positioning for major returns.

Pepeto’s total supply is 420 trillion tokens, just like PEPE. The tokenomics are simple: 30% presale, 30% staking, 20% marketing, 12.5% liquidity, and 7.5% development.

Staking rewards are designed to benefit early holders and keep stability after launch, with APY currently at 237%. This adds trust and shows the careful planning behind Pepeto.

Binance listing ahead

Memecoins grow fastest when they reach big exchanges. Pepeto’s expanding community is already putting this Ethereum coin in front of traders searching for the next opportunity. Two audits, by SolidProof and Coinsult, plus a live PepetoSwap demo, give extra confidence since people can test before launch.

At the same time, there is growing speculation about Tier 1 listings, including Binance. History gives clear examples: DOGE’s big rise in 2021 and SHIB’s surge after Binance added it. If Pepeto follows the same path, its tools and community could trigger massive gains soon after launch and for years to come.

Pepeto price prediction, bold yet grounded

Price targets are ambitious, but they rest on facts. Starting from a presale price of $0.000000149, Pepeto could see 20x to 60x growth by 2025.

DOGE once traded below one cent before skyrocketing. SHIB reached billions in value within weeks. With over 100,000 followers already and early whale activity, Pepeto is shaping up to be the standout of this cycle. If adoption and listings continue into 2026 and 2030, returns could go as high as 200x.

Community power and early whale support

Pepeto’s formula is simple: real tools plus strong hype. With more than 100,000 followers, constant presale interest, and whales buying in, the momentum is clear.

The buzz is spreading across social media and trading groups, creating a chain reaction. In crypto, community and story move prices, but Pepeto goes further by adding utility. This creates perfect conditions for fast adoption at launch, giving early investors even bigger returns.

Risk and reward in memecoins

Like every memecoin, Pepeto carries volatility. Prices can shoot up quickly during hype but also drop fast when attention fades. What sets Pepeto apart is that it is not based on hype alone. It already has finished audits, a zero-fee DEX, a working cross-chain bridge, and a presale that keeps selling strong. A live demo of PepetoSwap is available here:

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DLPoIbEID60/?igsh=d2gwcWhuNjZ4YWdo

Projects that win are the ones solving real problems, and Pepeto does exactly that. On top of this, 30% of tokens are reserved for staking, which gives rewards to holders and supports price stability even if the market gets tough. This makes the risk-to-reward ratio in Pepeto’s case very attractive, with lower risk compared to the potential for massive returns.

Conclusion

All signs show Pepeto is more than just another memecoin. With over $6m raised, two successful audits, live working products, and a fast-growing community, it already checks the boxes for mainstream breakout. From today’s presale price of $0.000000149, a 5x to 50x gain by 2025 is within reach, with even higher multiples possible by 2026 and 2030 as listings and adoption grow.

If Bitcoin stays strong and altcoin money rotation continues, Pepeto has what it takes to become the next Shiba Inu-style millionaire maker. For now, the presale window is open, but it may not stay open for long.

Disclaimer: To buy PEPETO, use only the official website. As the listing date approaches, be aware of scams using the project’s name to mislead investors. Always verify sources before committing funds.

No Man’s Sky adds buildable custom spaceships big enough to fit all your friends on board

by admin August 27, 2025

How many bases do you need in a single game? Ask someone who likes base-building, like me, and they’ll probably say “As many as you can give me.”

No Man’s Sky already has a few kinds of player bases. Base-building was added to the space sandbox in 2016, along with freighters that can be parked in orbit and customized. Settlements can also be built and managed, which is like making an entire alien town your base.

And in the new No Man’s Sky Voyagers update, you can build and customize huge new ships called Corvettes that are big enough to fly around the galaxy with your friends acting as crew. You can even get out of the cockpit while in flight, stroll around the ship, and edit the layout while you’re in transit.

“These ships have real interiors, med-bays, sleeping quarters, war rooms, radars, teleporters. It comes with you everywhere, which totally changes how you play. Decorating it with your friends gives you a space that you share together,” Sean Murry said in an email sent to PC Gamer. “Having multiple Corvettes flying over a planet together is incredible, especially when you pop the hatch and spacewalk or skydive from one ship to the other!”

Yep, you can jump right out and float around in space, or if you’re in the atmosphere, do a bit of skydiving, as you can see in the Voyagers trailer below.

For those of you who were hoping this announcement from Murray would involve Light No Fire, well, the planet-sized fantasy sandbox did get a mention, too. The same ship-building tech will appear in Light No Fire, though there it’ll be for the boats you need to cross the realistically massive oceans.

Along with the trailer, you can watch a more in-depth video about Voyager below. The update is live right now, and includes a new expedition so you can get started building your new mobile spaceship base.

ODST warbond available, and big new update Into the Unjust unveiled

by admin August 26, 2025

Helldivers 2 took over on PC and PlayStation last year, and now it’s taking over Xbox. Launching today, Helldivers 2 brings with it a Halo: ODST crossover and warbond. Beyond that, Arrowhead also revealed a new update that will bring a new zone in and more items in another warbond. It’s a good time to be a Helldiver.

Enter the Gloom

It’s finally time to discover what lies behind the Gloom shroud enveloping these planets we call Hive Worlds. Prepare your squad to disappear into the fog and discover new dangers, from towering structures built by Terminids to what horrors lurk beneath the planet surfaces.

Into the heart of darkness

Deep underground lies a labyrinth of cave tunnels that twist and turn, infested with the Hive Lung that seems to be the force that produces the thickening fog that makes up the Gloom.

Because of the nature of the caves, your Super Destroyer won’t be able to give you full support. It’ll be your team alone against the horror.

Terrors above and below

What little intelligence we have on the Gloom contains information about a new subterranean species of Terminid Warriors, Bile Spewers, and Chargers that, when they detect a threat, will burrow underground and begin moving toward prey. Once close enough, they erupt from the ground and attack.

It doesn’t stop there. The Gloom has mutated the Terminids even further, into grotesque monsters like the Dragonroach: a menace in the sky that dives unsuspecting Helldivers and rains down burning bile.

Our reports indicate that there are even greater, more terrifying creatures lying in wait on Hive Worlds, Helldiver. You must find them and take them out.

Taking back Hive Worlds

The Helldivers will also face brand new challenges while liberating Hive Worlds, like escorting a mobile oil rig. Helldivers must defend the rig from attacks while it traverses the treacherous Hive World terrain to the next drill site, where it will extract oil.

Meanwhile in the underground, you’ll be forced to locate and destroy the Hive Lung in an effort to stem the spread of the Gloom. There are also new optional and sub-objectives available, too.

It’s going to take all your determination and teamwork to stop the
infestation from spreading any further and liberate the Hive Worlds. Get ready to dive Into the Unjust1 on September 2, Helldivers.

Introducing the Dust Devils Premium Warbond

We’re not sending you to a Hive World without the best gear we have to offer, Helldiver. The Ministry of Defense has fast-tracked the deployment of the Dust Devils Warbond2, which will ensure survival in the harshest conditions these worlds can throw your way.

Weapons and Stratagems

Dust Devils comes with a hefty offering of one primary weapon, a new throwable, and three unique stratagems that will aid in clearing the air–and all the bugs–on Hive Worlds.

AR-2 CoyoteYou can hunt in packs or go by your lonesome with this assault rifle that features incendiary ammunition. But be warned: this coyote is wild.

G-7 PineappleThis cluster frag grenade might look like a cute and unassuming fruit, but it’ll have the bugs in absolute pieces.

S-11 SpeargunA true big game hunter’s companion. The S-11 fires heavy-duty projectiles that release a cloud of gas on impact.

EAT-700 Expendable NapalmHeat up the planet with this single-use missile that contains napalm cluster bombs.

MS-11 Solo SiloThe long-range power of a missile in a new convenient package. Calls down a Hellpod-sized missile silo with a single, ultra-powerful missile and a handheld targeting remote.

Armors, Capes, and more

Whether you’re crouched behind craggy boulders, waiting for your moment to spring a trap on unsuspecting Terminids or marching in formation with your squad to intimidate them, they’ll look the part. Both feature the Desert Stormer passive, which grants resistance to fire, gas, acid, and arc, as well as providing a throw range increase to the bearer.

You’ll also receive capes, player cards, an emote and player title, and a new pattern for your vehicles and Hellpods.

DS-42 Federation’s BladeCaptures the essence of armies marching through the desert sands. Wear with the Rightful occupier cape and player card for a polished look.

DS-191 ScorpionLook like a true nomadic warrior in this desert-proof draped set, pairs perfectly with the Windswept Wayfinder cape and player card.

Title: Burier of Heads

Emote: Raider’s Cheer

Pattern: “Rattlesnake” for vehicles and Hellpods

Arm your fighters against the perils that await them on Hive Worlds and beyond! The Dust Devils Premium Warbond launches on September 4.

Call Of Duty Responds To Ugly Skins By Making A Big Change To Black Ops 7

by admin August 26, 2025

Activision and Treyarch are making a big change to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, just under 12 weeks before its launch in November. All those wacky cosmetics from Black Ops 6 will no longer carry over to the new sequel as previously promised. The devs behind Call of Duty say the change is to ensure Black Ops 7 is “authentic to Call of Duty and its setting.”

On August 26, in a lengthy community update posted on the official Call of Duty website, Treyarch thanked fans for all the feedback and acknowledged the ongoing conversation online surrounding crossover skins and wacky cosmetic items in video games.

“We know there’s been a lot of conversation recently about the identity of Call of Duty,” said the studio. “Some of you have said we’ve drifted from what made Call of Duty unique in the first place: immersive, intense, visceral and in many ways grounded. That feedback hits home, and we take it seriously. We hear you.”

Players were worried that the weird cosmetics and crossover skins from Black Ops 6 would immediately turn Black Ops 7 into a Fortnite-like experience. That’s because the plan was to let skins from BLOPS 6, which now includes characters like Beavis and Butt-Head, carry over to BLOPS 7. But that’s no longer happening.

“Operators, Operator Skins, and Weapons from Black Ops 6 will no longer carry forward into Black Ops 7,” announced Treyarch. “Black Ops 7 needs to feel authentic to Call of Duty and its setting. That is why Black Ops 6 Operator and Weapon content will not carry forward to Black Ops 7. Double XP tokens and GobbleGums will still carry forward, because we recognize your time and progression are important.”

The developers of Black Ops 7 also claimed that a “ton of feedback” has already been implemented into the game. And the studio explained that future cosmetic bundles and items added to BLOPS 7 will be “crafted to fit the Black Ops identity.” Treyarch further added: “We hear the feedback. We need to deliver a better balance toward the immersive, core Call of Duty experience.”

Activision did confirm that BLOPS 6 skins will still move over to Warzone. So your strange collection of characters can still go enjoy battle royale.

It’s kind of weird that Helldivers 2 isn’t in Steam’s big third-person shooter sale, but there are plenty of other great deals so I don’t really miss it

by admin August 26, 2025

Most of the time, I’m an FPS guy: third-person shooters tend to lack the immersive qualities of first-person bang-bang, and the weird over-the-shoulder perspective makes aiming a headache (which I am sure has nothing to do with the fact that I don’t play many TPS games). But every now and then one comes along that’s just too good to ignore, which very circuitously brings us to the point: The new Steam TPS Fest, a week-sale that’s all about disembodied gunplay.

“It’s a fest full of games in the third person,” the TPS Fest page says helpfully. “And those persons are shooters.” And indeed they are, but in terms of specific genre—at least as defined by Steam—there’s quite a range to choose from: 569 action games, 276 adventures, 101 RPGs, 81 “casual” games, 63 strategy, 54 sims, eight sports games, and—somehow–two racing games. (I suspect someone may be playing a little fast-and-loose with some of those designations.)

Anyway, the pick of the litter as far as I’m concerned has to be Control Ultimate Edition, which includes the base game, The Foundation and AWE expansions, and all other additional content for just $4/£3.29/€4—90% off the regular price. That’s a whole lot of videogame for four bucks, and Control really is primo stuff—and, I have to admit, its extremely effective blend of gunplay and powers almost certainly works better in third person than it would as an FPS.

My personal favorite, though, is Max Payne 3, and I mention it specifically because it’s grossly underrated and deserves the love—and if you haven’t played the first two and don’t especially want to, this final part of the trilogy works perfectly well as a standalone game. It’s an incredibly cinematic shooter, very different from Remedy’s take on the character (which is mainly why it tends to be not as well regarded) but easily up to their level. For $6/£5.39/€6, you won’t regret it.

And if you do want to play the first two Max Payne games (and you should), you can also get those on the cheap. Take note, however, that the Max Payne Complete Pack bundle, which includes all three games, actually costs more right now than buying the games separately. I have no idea why and it might be changed at some point, but for now double-check before you push the button.

Helldivers 2, one of the most popular third-person games to come along in years, is actually not on sale right now, but that’s okay because Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint and Ghost Recon Wildlands are, and they’re both a lot of fun, especially if you can jump in with a friend or two.

Breakpoint had an infamously tough start but Ubisoft did a good job of whipping it into shape with post-launch updates, and for $6/£5/€6—90% off—it’s a solid pick. Wildlands is actually 50 cents more than Breakpoint for some reason, and I quite like it too, but honestly you don’t need both. Breakpoint would be my pick, but maybe check to see what your friends are already into if you’re not sure which way to go.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

Sniper Elite 5: Maybe you get tired of X-ray nut shots. I do not. $10/£9/€10, 80% off.

100 Testicle Nut Shots in Sniper Elite 5 (4K) – YouTube

Watch On

Earth Defense Force 6—I used to work with a guy who was a big fan of the EDF games, and this one is a solid addition to the series. Half-price, $30/£25/€30.

Star Wars Outlaws may not be the most original Star Wars idea, but it’s still a very good game—I’d probably play it myself, except I really don’t like Star Wars. If you do, you can score this one for $31.49/£27/€3149, less than half the regular price. If you’re not sure, there’s a demo so you can get a feel for what it’s all about.

Senior editor Wes Fenlon is a big Risk of Rain fan, and that’s good enough for me: Risk of Rain 2 is 67% off, taking it down to $8.24/6.59/€8.24.

If you like a little survival horror mixed in with your firefights, The Callisto Protocol is down to $9/£7.49/€9, 85% off. It wasn’t a huge hit but it does what it does quite well.

And one more, although there’s a lot more to rifle through than just what I’ve mentioned here: Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is 95% off, taking it to just $3.49/£3/€3.49. And sure, it had problems, was probably a bad idea right from the jump, but if you can’t get three bucks of fun out of this thing, I think we have to consider the possibility that it might be a “you” problem.

So there you have it, even more ways to spend your money on Steam. You’re welcome. Steam’s Third Person Shooter Fest is live now and runs until September 1—after that, you get a week off and then it’s time for the Steam Political Sim Fest. No, I am not kidding.

Another Switch 2 Nintendo Direct Is Close And It Could Be The Big One

by admin August 25, 2025

The Switch 2 has been out in the wild for several months now, but we still know very little about what Nintendo has planned for its future. Could that be about to change? The next Nintendo Direct is reportedly planned for mid-September and seems poised to offer way more than just a deep dive into the company’s holiday lineup.

While there’s a big Nintendo Direct almost every September, the company’s post-Switch 2 launch marketing has been all over the place. A new rumor from SwitchForce, however, claims a Nintendo Direct is planned for September 12. That’s a Friday, which would be a bizarre time for a Nintendo showcase. Perhaps that’s the Japan date, which would put the showcase during the late afternoon on Thursday, a much more believable time for a livestream. VGC corroborated the broader claim that Nintendo is holding a mid-September Direct, but was unable to specify the date. It’s possible Nintendo’s plans could still change.

It’s worth noting that the original Super Mario Bros. for the NES arrived on September 13, 1985, making next month the franchise’s 40th anniversary. That would make a Nintendo Direct the perfect time to announce a new Mario-themed Switch 2, Switch Online multiplayer spin-off, the return of Super Mario 3D All-Stars, or something more. I’m hoping for an HD remake of Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Where is the Switch 2’s new 3D Mario?

Fans are also still waiting on a release date for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which Nintendo continues to affirm will come out in 2025. With Pokémon Legends: Z-A coming in October and Kirby Air Riders in November, December is looking like the only option at this point, unless the company can sneak out its new sci-fi shooter earlier than expected. There are still some Switch 1 games ripe for Switch 2 updates like Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

As for what lies beyond this year, there are already some previously announced exclusives, like The Duskbloods and Splatoon Raiders, waiting in the wings. But Nintendo has yet to tease new arrivals in some of its biggest franchises, like Animal Crossing, Super Smash Bros., and The Legend of Zelda. And then there’s Mario. Reports that the Donkey Kong Bananza team is a splinter group from the original Mario Odyssey team suggest the plumber’s next big platforming adventure could be just around the corner. Would Nintendo really let the Switch 2 go its whole inaugural year without a new Mario game?

The company has seemingly spent the last few years of the Switch 1’s lifecycle saving up big releases for its new hardware. Maybe it’ll finally pull back the curtain on what some of them are next month.

Japan-based Metaplanet has added more Bitcoin to its reserves this week, spending over $11 million to acquire 103 BTC. The company confirmed the move in a recent disclosure, stating the purchase was executed at an average price of $113,491 per coin.

Total Holdings Near 19,000 BTC

With this addition, Metaplanet’s Bitcoin stash now stands at 18,991 BTC, valued at nearly $2 billion based on current prices.

The company’s average acquisition cost across all holdings is about $102,712 per coin. According to Bitcoin Treasuries data, this makes Metaplanet the seventh-largest publicly listed BTC  holder, sitting just behind Riot Platforms Inc. and Bullish, the crypto firm backed by Peter Thiel.

The company’s timing has often aligned with key price swings. Reports show that during the first quarter of 2025, Metaplanet recorded a over 95% return on its Bitcoin strategy.

The second quarter proved even stronger at 129%, while July through late August delivered a 29% gain. Overall, the investment has grown by close to 480%, far outpacing most traditional equity plays.

Institutional Buys Keep Rolling

Metaplanet’s move comes as Michael Saylor hinted at another purchase for his firm Strategy. Saylor posted on X that “Bitcoin is on Sale,” fueling speculation of more buying activity.

That message followed Strategy’s recent acquisitions—430 BTC worth $51 million last week and 775 BTC just days earlier. The firm now controls 629,376 BTC, accounting for nearly 3% of BTC’s circulating supply.

Such large-scale buying underscores how corporations are doubling down on Bitcoin, even at prices above $110,000. For Metaplanet, the decision also serves as a hedge.

Japan’s weakening yen has raised concerns among investors, and crypto appears to offer a measure of protection against currency risk.

Bitcoin Holds Steady

Bitcoin remained mostly flat, trading around $112,000 after briefly dipping to $110,000 over the weekend.

Analysts point out that this muted price response is common, as large purchases often occur over-the-counter, reducing short-term market impact.

ERIC TRUMP: BITCOIN TO SURPASS $175K IN 2025

At Jackson Hole, Eric Trump predicted BTC will cross $175,000 this year, declaring himself a “Bitcoin Maxi.”

— First Squawk (@FirstSquawk) August 24, 2025

In the meantime, sentiment in the wider crypto market remains bullish. US President Donald Trump’s son, Eric Trump, recently called himself a “Bitcoin Maxi” and forecasted that the asset could reach $175,000 within 2025.

Along with ongoing institutional buying, these types of predictions drive anticipation of higher prices in the coming months.

There have also been indications that Metaplanet could be on a weekly build-up approach, considering its latest buying activity. If the pattern continues, further crypto purchases could be in the offing.

Katabasis Deluxe Limited Edition – Save Big On R.F. Kuang’s New Fantasy Novel

by admin August 25, 2025

Nebula Award-winning author R.F. Kuang returns this week with a new fantasy novel. Pitched as Dante’s Inferno crossed with Susanna Clarke’s Piranesi, Katabasis is a 560-page novel that takes place at a magical university and the underworld. The highly anticipated standalone novel releases August 26, and publisher Harper Voyager is commemorating the launch with a gorgeous collectible hardcover. Katabasis Deluxe Limited Edition is available for $24.48 (was $35) at Amazon and Walmart.

After the first printing of Katabasis sells out, readers will have to settle for the standard edition, which means you’ll miss out on the eye-catching sprayed page edges, lavish case, and illustrated endpapers. Considering that Amazon now also has a store page for the standard edition–for only two bucks less–the Deluxe Limited Edition is possibly close to selling out.

Take a look at the Deluxe Limited Edition of Katabasis below. Fans of Kuang’s Poppy War Trilogy should also check out Amazon’s discounts on the new Deluxe Collector’s Editions of the first two novels in the series.

R.F. Kuang Collector’s Edition Books:

$24.48 (was $35) | Releases August 26

R.F. Kuang’s latest fantasy novel revolves around a pair of PhD students, Alice Law and Peter Murdoch, who study Magick at a fictional Cambridge University. When their academic advisor Professor Jacob Grimes dies in what sounds like a classroom exercise gone terribly wrong, Alice blames herself. She couldn’t stand the guy, but as the best magician alive, Jacob’s recommendation letter could jumpstart her career in Magick. And he hadn’t written recommendation letters before his untimely death.

Described as academic rivals, Alice and Peter join forces and risk their own lives to try to save their futures–and Jacob, who happens to be in literal Hell. And so the pair of brainy, aspirational magicians take a trip to the depths of Hell. But all of their training didn’t prepare them for what Hell is actually like.

The title comes from Greek myths that refer to a descent to Hell as a katabasis. The publisher calls Katabasis “2025’s most unexpected love story,” in case you were wondering whether this is an enemies-turned-lovers situation. And while it is, in a way, I’ve read it, and it really does subvert your expectations in this regard.

The 560-page Deluxe Limited Edition hardcover has decorative sprayed edges featuring the college and the underworld. The dust jacket artwork shows Alice and Peter descending a winding staircase surrounded by bookshelves. This 3D representation of their journey is also depicted on the embossed front cover when you remove the dust jacket. The Deluxe Limited Edition also has exclusive endpapers designed to resemble pages from Alice’s notebook with equations, tables, and diagrams.

Signed copies of the Deluxe Limited Edition were available at Barnes & Noble for $35, but it’s currently sold out.

Katabasis Deluxe Limited Edition

The Deluxe Limited Edition is for the US market, but Harper Voyager also printed a different collectible hardcover in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. Big fans of Kuang’s work can import the international limited edition from UK bookshops like Waterstones–though shipping costs and potential tariffs could be rough–or buy a copy from a US reseller on Amazon for around $50.

Large Print editions of Katabasis are available in paperback, and the UK version is roughly half the price compared to the US Large Print edition.

Katabasis is also available as a $15 Kindle ebook and Audible audiobook narrated by Morag Sims and Will Watt.

R.F. Kuang’s The Poppy War, Babel, and The Dragon Republic

  • The Poppy War Trilogy Box Set — $32.49 ($60)
  • The Poppy War: Book 1 (2018)
  • The Dragon Republic: Book 2 (2019)
  • The Burning God: Book 3 (2020)
  • Babel: Or the Necessity of Violence (2022)
  • Yellowface (2023)

Kuang is one of the most prolific and successful young writers working in fiction today. Despite only just turning 29 earlier this year, Katabasis is Kuang’s sixth novel. In 2018, Harper Voyager published Kuang’s debut novel, The Poppy War, when she was 22–but she was only 20 when she signed the contract. The first in a grimdark historical fantasy trilogy set in a fictionalized version of Kuang’s native China, The Poppy War was followed up by The Dragon Republic in 2019 and The Burning God in 2020. The award-winning series is available in multiple physical formats, including a budget-friendly paperback box set, hardcover, and trade paperback.

Last November, Harper published The Poppy War Deluxe Collector’s Edition with sprayed edges, illustrated endpapers, embossed visual effects, and a fully illustrated dust jacket. The Poppy War Collector’s Edition hardcover is discounted to $24.29 (was $45) at Amazon. The Dragon Republic Deluxe Collector’s Edition released in June and is on sale for $26 (was $45). Though not confirmed yet, we imagine The Burning God will get a matching Collector’s Edition of its next year.

After completing the trilogy, Kuang shifted gears to speculative fiction in Babel: Or the Necessity of Violence: An Arcane History of the Oxford Translators’ Revolution. Yes, that’s a very long title. Babel is a fascinating alternate history that, like Katabasis, revolves around academia. It won the 2022 Nebula Award for Best Novel.

Kuang changed genres once again with her riveting 2023 novel Yellowface. The satirical novel takes aim at racial diversity in publishing. If you like audiobooks, Helen Laser’s narration of Yellowface is wildly entertaining.

August has brought a number of other notable new fantasy and sci-fi novels, including Charlie Jane Anders’ Lessons in Magic and Disaster, Gareth Brown’s The Society of Unknowable Objects, Louis Sachar’s The Magician of Tiger Castle, and Yasuhiko Nishizawa’s The Man Who Died Seven Times.
