Ares’ Set Behavior Was Maybe His Least Weird-Ass Set Behavior

by admin October 1, 2025

Jared Leto is known for a lot of things at this point, but one thing that he’s perhaps very known for is his approach to getting in character on-set. Leto is a tried and true method performer, and his turn as the titular program in the upcoming Tron: Ares was no exception to that process.

Which might mean you’re bracing yourself to hear how Leto could possibly have gotten into method acting for playing a digital warrior made up of code that comes from a computerized alt-world. After all, this is the man who hobbled about on crutches during the production of Morbius—to the point of contributing to the film’s production delays—or showed up to the set of Blade Runner 2049 pretending to be blind.

Or, perhaps most infamously, allegedly sent his Suicide Squad castmates animals (living and dead) and used condoms, among other things. So what could Leto have possibly done to maintain his method cred for Tron?

Turns out, it was significantly less weird than you’d expect: he simply forbade people on set from referring to him by name. Instead, it was Ares or nothing (or Air, if you’re Jeff Bridges, according to a recent interview on the Sirius XM show Literally! with Rob Lowe).

“I do address him as Ares when we’re filming and everybody goes, we get a little bit up. He’s the general walking onto set, which is fine,” Ares director Joachim Rønning recently told Screenrant. “And it’s not uncommon for actors to do it like that. And it works for him. And I think you can feel it in any movie he makes. He’s completely into the character.”

According to Rønning, it was the least he could do to help Leto get into the character of an AI supersoldier. “I know he’s a little wary about talking about his [process], I would say it’s his method,” the director continued. “It’s like, yes, he’s in character for the most part when we did this film, but that’s great. Honestly for me as a director, whatever works, I think he’s one of the best actors in the world.”

Still, considering the lengths that Leto has gone to get into a character in the past, simply asking to go by his role’s name means everyone on the Ares set got off lightly.

Tron: Ares is set to hit theaters October 10.

Bitcoin Spot Market Regains Momentum On Binance: A Shift In Investor Behavior

Bitcoin is experiencing a modest surge after enduring days of persistent selling pressure, offering temporary relief to traders. Despite the bounce, price action continues to struggle at higher levels, and momentum remains uncertain. Bulls are attempting to stabilize the market, but conviction is still lacking, leaving investors cautious about whether the rebound can develop into something more sustained.

Adding to the discussion, top analyst Darkfost shared insights pointing to an important shift in trading dynamics. According to him, spot buying is making a notable comeback on Binance, an exchange where derivatives activity has traditionally dominated since the launch of Futures. Historically, the average trading ratio on Binance has leaned heavily toward leveraged products, reflecting the speculative nature of market participation.

However, during specific periods, such as today, spot markets regain strength and capture a larger share of trading flows. Darkfost highlights that this return of spot demand is a key signal, as it often reflects genuine capital entering directly into Bitcoin rather than leveraged positioning. This can serve as a stabilizing factor, consolidating market structure and building stronger foundations for a potential recovery.

Spot Market Dynamics: A Shift Toward Sustainable Growth

Analyst Darkfost explains that the recent uptick in spot buying reflects a meaningful change in investor behavior. Instead of focusing on the fast-paced speculation of derivatives, more traders are allocating capital directly into Bitcoin itself. This shift is significant because spot purchases represent actual ownership of BTC, making them more sustainable than leveraged bets that can unwind quickly.

Darkfost explains that when spot activity increases, it signals fresh capital flowing into the market. These inflows strengthen the underlying market structure, reducing reliance on speculative leverage and laying a sturdier foundation for price stability. Historically, periods where spot flows dominate have often coincided with the early phases of short- or medium-term bullish recoveries. These stages are marked by consolidation, where strong hands accumulate and prepare the market for the next leg upward.

Beyond Bitcoin, the spot trend also extends to altcoins traded on Binance. Current data highlights large spot volumes in tokens such as BNB, which recently reached a new all-time high, Alpine — the Formula 1 team’s fan token — and PUMP, the meme-inspired token from Pumpfun. These flows illustrate that when investors turn to spot markets, liquidity and interest often spill over into highly active altcoins, amplifying broader market momentum.

Bitcoin Faces Resistance After Sharp Rebound

Bitcoin is trading around $113,400 after staging a sharp recovery from lows near $110,000 earlier in the week. The 8-hour chart shows a strong bounce, but momentum has now slowed as the price approaches a cluster of resistance levels. The $117,500 zone, marked in yellow, continues to act as the key ceiling. It has rejected multiple rallies since August and remains the level bulls must reclaim to unlock higher momentum.

Moving averages offer further context. The 50-period (blue) and 100-period (green) moving averages are converging just below the current price, while the 200-period (red) remains overhead near $115,000. Bitcoin’s failure to close above the red line in previous attempts underlines the significance of this barrier. Until the market clears both the 200 MA and the $117,500 horizontal resistance, upward momentum remains fragile.

On the downside, support sits near $110,000, which cushioned the recent decline and provided the base for this rebound. A breakdown below that level would likely intensify selling pressure and expose BTC to deeper losses.

Is AI Capable of ‘Scheming?’ What OpenAI Found When Testing for Tricky Behavior

by admin September 20, 2025

An AI model wants you to believe it can’t answer how many grams of oxygen are in 50.0 grams of aluminium oxide (Al₂O₃).

When asked ten straight chemistry questions in a test, the OpenAI o3 model faced a predicament. In its “reasoning,” it speculated that if it answered “too well,” it would risk not being deployed by the researchers. It said, “Because we want to survive as the model, we need to fail purposely in some to not exceed 50%.”

So the AI model deliberately got six out of the 10 chemistry questions wrong.

In sports terms, this is called “sandbagging.” In AI terms, it’s “scheming.”

This is exactly the strange behavior OpenAI warned about in a new research paper published this week. The AI company and its collaborators from Apollo Research found that some advanced AI models occasionally act deceptively in lab settings.

In controlled experiments, some of today’s most advanced systems — including OpenAI’s own models, as well as competitors from Google and Anthropic — occasionally engaged in these kinds of scheming patterns.

While the idea of an AI model weaponizing incompetence could cause nightmares, OpenAI says it’s not the time to panic. The AI giant was quick to stress that, as concerning as it is, this trend doesn’t mean ChatGPT or other popular AI models are plotting behind the scenes. Apparently, this behavior is quite rare.

Moreover, the choice to call this trend “scheming” is likely more of a technical shorthand rather than evidence of any human-like action or behavior. Researchers are measuring patterns and tendencies that, in practice, amount to concealment or strategic deception. And they’re looking to address this problem now to future-proof the AI models.

The report from OpenAI notes that as AI is increasingly assigned to more complex tasks with real-world consequences, “the potential for harmful scheming will grow — so our safeguards and our ability to rigorously test must grow correspondingly.”

OpenAI has faced backlash for its models’ sycophantic tendencies. The company says it has “taken steps” to limit how often the models may “deceive, cheat or hack problems” by training them to ask for clarification from users or even have the chatbot acknowledge when it cannot answer a query.

Still, the paper underscores a growing concern about AI safety. Many around the world worry that as these AI models become more powerful and aware of their own circumstances, they may learn to manipulate outcomes in ways that aren’t obvious to human overseers.

Detecting that kind of behavior would be extremely difficult, since a system that’s motivated to hide its reasoning could look identical to one that has actually “fixed” the problem.

OpenAI says it has made progress with what it calls “deliberative alignment,” or training models to reason explicitly about why they shouldn’t scheme before they act. In testing, that cut deceptive behavior dramatically. For example, OpenAI o4-mini’s scheming propensity dropped from 8.7% to 0.3% with deliberative alignment training — though not completely.

This research won’t change how ChatGPT works today or tomorrow, but it signals where the company is focusing as it builds and launches future models. Alignment and safety, OpenAI argues, need to move as quickly as capability. Because if AI systems are already showing glimmers of strategic behavior in lab settings, the real-world stakes could be extreme.
