Donkey Kong Bananza Features Co-Op And GameShare For Switch 2 and Switch 1 Consoles

by admin June 18, 2025

Nintendo released a deluge of Donkey Kong Bananza in a special Direct earlier this morning, including news that the game features local and online co-op and unique GameShare features. Most surprisingly, though, Nintendo Switch 2 owners with Donkey Kong Bananza can use GameShare to let a Switch 1 player join their game and play as Donkey Kong’s companion, Pauline. This means that technically, a Switch player who maybe hasn’t upgraded to Nintendo’s latest console can still check out the game.

During the Donkey Kong Bananza Direct, Nintendo revealed that you can share a second Joy-Con 2 controller, or a second set entirely, to let another player control Pauline separately from Donkey Kong. They can unleash Vocal Blasts using the Joy-Con 2 Mouse controls. Plus, with GameShare, you only need one copy of the game to participate in the co-op action because you can share Donkey Kong Bananza with another Switch 2 owner. This can be done locally, even to a Switch 1 player, or via an online connection to another Switch 2 owner using GameShare via GameChat.

GameShare is already a nice consumer-friendly feature, and something we’re glad has returned from the DS era in the Switch 2 generation. The fact that it can be used to play alongside someone on Switch 1 is impressive (especially as people are still tracking down a Switch 2).

This section of today’s Direct was quick, so there are likely some details still to learn about how this GameShare feature works specifically with Donkey Kong Bananza. We’re excited to learn more soon when Donkey Kong Bananza launches exclusively on Switch 2 next month on July 17.

While waiting for its release, read Game Informer’s hands-on Donkey Kong Bananza preview, and then watch the game’s reveal trailer. After that, read Game Informer’s Switch 2 review, and then check out our list of the Switch 2 games to play when you’re done with Mario Kart World.

A Donkey Kong Bananza Amiibo Featuring DK And Pauline Will Be Released Next Month

by admin June 18, 2025

During today’s short but jam-packed 15-minute Donkey Kong Bananza Direct, Nintendo revealed a new Amiibo for the game. It features Donkey Kong and his companion, Pauline, and launches alongside the game next month on July 17.

Scanning this special Donkey Kong & Pauline Amiibo into Donkey Kong Bananza unlocks Pauline’s Diva Dress. Alongside this reveal, Nintendo also announced that every other Amiibo released thus far, including previous Donkey Kong Amiibo and the special arm bands used inside Universal’s Super Nintendo World theme parks, can be used to receive special giant spheres that do unique things in-game.

For example, one Amiibo might bring a giant ice sphere into your game, allowing you to clog up a lava canal to reach somewhere new. Nintendo only revealed small snippets of how Amiibo work in-game, so we’ll likely learn more about their functionality next month.

Donkey Kong Bananza launches exclusively on Switch 2 on July 17.

While waiting for its release, read Game Informer’s hands-on Donkey Kong Bananza preview, and then watch the game’s reveal trailer. After that, read Game Informer’s round-up of everything we learned about Donkey Kong Bananza during today’s direct, and then read about how Donkey Kong Bananza features co-op and GameShare features for Switch 2 and Switch 1 consoles.

Nintendo rides Switch 2 launch hype with a Donkey Kong Bananza Direct set for later this week

by admin June 16, 2025

Nintendo has announced a Donkey Kong Bananza direct for later this week.

It’ll be taking place on Wednesday, 18th June at 6am PT / 9am ET / 2pm UK time. According to the official Nintendo App where it was announced, the Donkey Kong direct will last only 15 minutes.

We’ve seen little bits of Donkey Kong Bananza here and there over the past few months. Back in April the game was officially revealed, alongside some gameplay which shows everyone’s favourite gorilla punching through the ground and barrelling through the open world.

He’s got a new look too, with Shigeru Miyamoto stating that when going back to the drawing board with Donkey Kong the team developers wanted something “more expressive”. Fans eager for the game also cracked the banana-centric language seen in small clips of the game, way ahead of its release.

It goes without saying, but don’t expect any other Nintendo games to show up as part of this direct. It’s a pure Kong affair. All monkey, all monkey business. But if you’re looking for more info on a brand-new game created for the Switch 2, it sounds like an event worth tuning in for.
