Ananta producer says every character could have their own game and perhaps unwisely compares it to the Avengers

by admin October 2, 2025

Ananta, whether it ends up being a good game or not, is clearly a confident one. You have to be brave to so blatantly, we’ll say, borrow from so many different games. Like many anime-esque games of its ilk, it will live and die by its characters (which, by the way, you won’t have to gacha roll for), of which it seems to have in spades judging from that first gameplay trailer. These characters will all play differently too, and according to Ananta’s producer Ash Qi, the dev team wants you to think of them like Avengers members. Comparing your new thing to an older, widely loved thing is always a safe move!

Speaking to GamesRadar, Qi said he believes “many of the characters in the game could be protagonists in their own game.” Qi went on to explain that they’re “trying to create a big storyline that will evolve, giving the characters focus, which will add new characters and new cities to explore. Take Marvel as an example; there are many different heroes and champions in The Avengers.

“However, characters like Captain America and Spider-Man have their own storylines, separate from the larger plot, and they are the protagonists of their own stories, each with their unique missions.” Qi goes on to note that this approach, of trying to make each character stand out, is their attempt of keeping them in focus – not to mention a feature they’re working on where several characters can all fight other enemies at once.

One point I do take slight umbrage with is that Qi also said the studio is trying to “achieve a design that feels unique compared to other RPG games.” Sure, there might not be many RPG games like this one, but there are even just some animations that seem uncomfortably similar to other games.

I still have my reservations about Ananta, but I’m still curious to find out how it actually shapes up… whenever that is.

Hong Kong Disneyland Teases Avengers and Pixar Attractions

by admin September 13, 2025

Disneyland Hong Kong first opened 20 years ago, and to celebrate, the company showed off concept for what’s coming in the future.

Concept art below shows teases for attractions based on Marvel and Pixar. For the superheroes, one art features the Avengers headquarters, while another shows Spider-Man with Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and Thor in Asgard around a pod of parkgoers dropping through the Bifrost Bridge. This concept art—and a previously released art of Spidey holding a pod while fighting Doctor Octopus near a portal—suggest a drop ride in the vein of “Mission Breakout.” Disney hasn’t given this ride an official title, but teased it’d be “a team-up with the Avengers for an unexpected adventure!”

© Disneyland Hong Kong © Disneyland Hong Kong © Disneyland Hong Kong

This’ll be Marvel’s third addition to the Hong Kong’s Stark Expo in Tomorrowland, and was first announced back in 2024. At the moment, it’s unclear if this attraction is still focused on Spider-Man with some guest stars, or has fully converted into an Avengers attraction that also features the wall-crawler.

Meanwhile, the Pixar art shows Mike, Sully, and others Monsters Inc. workers moving doors around in front of a crowd with Boo hanging around in the background. Like the Marvel attraction, there’s no official name for this, or what it’ll entail; the description for this one promises other Pixar characters will participate in “an all-new immersive theatrical experience celebrating the joy of friendship and the power of play.”

No release window for either so far, but we’ll have more on what’s to come for Disneyland Hong Kong as information comes out.

Russo Brothers drop cryptic Avengers: Doomsday clue and this could be the answer

by admin September 9, 2025

The Russo Brothers have just uploaded a cryptic Instagram post, and only one thing is clear: Avengers: Doomsday is coming.

Doomsday is one of Marvel’s most mysterious projects ever; certainly more so than Infinity War and Endgame, where everyone had a vague idea of what would happen. Unlike the past saga, we know very little about why everything is happening.

Here’s what we do know: Robert Downey Jr is returning to the MCU to play Doctor Doom, there are 26 confirmed actors in the cast, the original X-Men (Patrick Stewart, James Marsden, and Ian McKellen, etc) are reprising their roles, and it’ll set up Avengers: Secret Wars.

Marvel has been tight-lipped about the film, but Joe and Anthony Russo have given fans a tiny taste of what’s to come.

Russo Brothers tease Avengers: Doomsday in new post

The blurry image shows some white, squiggly lines, and it’s captioned: “DoomsdayIsComing.” Notably, Josh Brolin has already liked it, which could be good for people hoping to see Thanos one more time (especially if they adapt an iconic panel from the comics).

Article continues after ad

So, what is it? Some people think it’s teasing Moon Knight’s role in Doomsday, others believe it has something to do with Scarlet Witch. No disrespect to the latter camp, but they’d attribute almost anything to Wanda; they just want to see her back in the MCU, and that’s fine.

Here’s what it (probably) is: a photo of Reed Richards’ chalkboard, and it may be blurred out as it could reference Doctor Doom and/or incursions.

“Yall it’s the f**king whiteboard that Reed was using,” one user wrote. “What is Reed cooking up on the board???” another posted. “That’s just the smartest man in the world working like a Tuesday at the Baxter Building,” a third wrote.

So, what could he be jotting down? Equations regarding incursions are the most likely option, given they’re expected to be Doom’s main motivator in Doomsday. For those who aren’t aware what an incursion is, it’s when two universes collide, and at least one is destroyed completely.

There’s been a long-running theory that Steve returning all of the Infinity Stones at the end of Endgame caused an incursion, and Doom may be trying to stop him – or possibly even avenge his world.

It’s also been theorized that Doom will pit the Avengers against the X-Men, and the movie could even end with their deaths (or some of them, at least, with a few staying on for Secret Wars). And that’s before we get to Deadpool…

Channing Tatum Says His Gambit Will ‘Keep the Drama’ in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

by admin September 3, 2025

Colin Farrell “doesn’t see” returning to the Penguin’s “trough,” Doug Liman is “excited” to take Tom Cruise to outer space, and Clayface gets smushed. Until the USA network agrees to green light Night Spoilers, we are here with another Morning Spoilers!

Avengers: Doomsday

During a recent interview with Variety, Channing Tatum promised his portrayal of Gambit in Avengers: Doomsday will be more “serious” than last seen in Deadpool and Wolverine.

I’m not gonna go full Cajun. [Directors Anthony and Joe Russo] want things to be funny, but they don’t want to go full Deadpool. They want to keep the drama and keep it tight. When Gambit gets serious — when he drops the Mardi Gras mask — things do matter.

Clayface

The latest set photo from Clayface appears to depict Matt Hagen post-surgery, if not just after his disfiguring accident.

Tom Cruise Space Movie

Speaking with Deadline, director Doug Liman said that he hopes people are still buzzed for his upcoming Tom Cruise action movie, which is set to be partially shot in space, although there’s still no update on when that might happen.

I’m more excited about going to space, not less… but our goal is to make something great. A lot of people are trying to do gimmicky things like, ‘Oh, it’s in space.’ I’m not interested in doing something that’s a just promotional gimmick.

I want to make a film that people watch in a hundred years when maybe there’s hundreds of movies shot in outer space and there’s nothing special about it being in outer space. That’s the goal of everything I do.

With Swingers, it’s very meaningful to me that lots of people who watch it weren’t even born when it premiered here.

If I ever shoot a movie in outer space, the question will be what could I do that you couldn’t do on Earth that makes for a great piece of entertainment, that’s better than if you didn’t do it it space.

Again, it’s also about technology and storytelling… you can run a line from Swingers all the way through to this potential film in outer space.

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die

According to Deadline, Gore Verbinski’s Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die is now scheduled for a January 30, 2026 theatrical release date.

Starring Sam Rockwell, Haley Lu Richardson, Michael Peña, Zazie Beetz, and Juno Temple, the story is said to concern a “man from the future (Rockwell) who arrives at a diner in Los Angeles where he must recruit the precise combination of disgruntled patrons (Richardson, Peña, Beetz, Temple) to join him on a one-night-six-block quest to save the world from the terminal threat of a rogue artificial intelligence.”

Untitled Jordan Peele Movie

As noted by World of Reel, Universal has pulled Jordan Peele’s mysterious fourth movie from its 2026 release calendar.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple

Sony has released its first trailer for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. Read our story about the trailer here.

The Penguin

In conversation with Deadline, Colin Farrell stated he doesn’t know “the way you go back to the trough” for a second season of The Penguin.

I have no idea if it’s happening. I know that I heard rumblings that they were thinking they’d like to do a second season, but I don’t know if it’s a good idea,” he said. “I don’t know the way you go back to the trough … And part of me wants to go, ‘Just let it go people. We got away with it. Leave it as it is.’

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Sarah Michelle Gellar shared several behind-the-scenes photos from the set of the new Buffy the Vampire Slayer pilot on Instagram.

Avengers: Doomsday star says cast has “smaller roles” to make space for new characters

by admin August 27, 2025

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star Tenoch Huerta has been speaking about his participation in Avengers: Doomsday, saying the dynamic is different as the film endeavours to make room for “twentysomething characters.”

Tenoch Huerta made his MCU debut as Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The character came into conflict with Shuri, before finding common ground at the end of the movie, and making a truce.

But with no more Black Panther in the pipeline at present, it looked like that might be the last we saw of the Talokan king.

Article continues after ad

Then in March 2025, Marvel did a five-hour livestream in which cast members of Avengers: Doomsday were revealed via director’s chairs, and Huerta was one of the 26. Though he only found that out hours beforehand…

Namor actor told about Avengers: Doomsday role on same day

Marvel Studios

Speaking on late-night show La Resolana Con El Capi, and as reported by Deadline, Huerta said: “We were waiting on the green light and my agents in the U.S. were not sure about the news.

“They practically told us around 12 at night, and at 5:30 in the morning, the livestream started, and they told us, ‘Hey, the news is about to drop.’ It was surprising and it was cool.”

He added that the shoot has contrasted with his work on the Black Panther sequel, as “the dynamic has been different.”

Huerta explains: “There are twentysomething characters involved in the story, which means we are each going to have smaller roles because there needs to be space for all the characters and all the universes.

“This makes it a much more simpler role, in terms of time and energy of making a film like this.”

Avengers: Doomsday will be released on December 18, 2026, and you can head here for a twist theory concerning the movie, or here for a potentially major spoiler concerning Captain America. Alternatively, check out our ranking of the MCU movies.

Avengers: Doomsday rumor reveals shocking ally for Robert Downey Jr’s Doctor Doom

by admin August 25, 2025

Robert Downey Jr’s Doctor Doom will make his MCU debut in Avengers: Doomsday, and he may enlist the help of a familiar sorcerer, according to a new rumor.

Once upon a time, every Marvel fan knew Thanos was coming and that he wanted to gather the Infinity Stones for his gauntlet, with the threat (and aftermath) of his universe-halving snap being the catalyst for Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.

The same can’t be said for Doomsday and Secret Wars. All we know is that Doctor Doom will be involved, Downey will play him and his likeness to Tony Stark is part of the story, as well as the stars who were announced as part of the movie’s livestream earlier this year.

Article continues after ad

The assumption is that it’ll have something to do with the multiverse, with Doom trying to save (or avenge) his world from an incursion – which is where one hero could come in.

Doctor Strange and Doctor Doom could team up in Avengers: Doomsday

During an episode of The Hot Mic, insider and reporter Jeff Sneider said he’d “heard that Doctor Strange is with Doom… he’s on that side of things.”

This also comes after The Beyond Reporter claimed that not only will Strange work with Doom, but he’ll be considered a villain. Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus also reported that Strange will be tasked with fixing an incursion in Doomsday, “by any means necessary.”

Article continues after ad

“This would be a good time to remind everyone that the flow of time is different in the Dark Dimension since it is basically nonexistent. So, even though it’ll have been 3.5–4 years since Stephen Strange has been on Earth, imagine how much time would have passed in the Dark Dimension?” he added.

Marvel Studios

Remember, Strange was whisked away by Clea (the daughter of Dormammu, played by Charlize Theron) because his actions triggered an incursion – in layman’s terms, the impending collision of two Earths caused by multiversal shenanigans.

That’s important context, considering another Cosmic Circus report said Doom sees “the incursions that are happening as a danger to the multiverse, and he wants to put a stop to it using a young Franklin Richards.”

“He sees himself as the hero in this story and will do whatever it takes to make sure he stays on top,” it added.

Avengers: Doomsday will be released on December 18, 2026. In the meantime, read more about who Tramell Tillman should play in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and check out our ranking of the MCU movies.

The Thursday Murder Club review: Starry cast makes this the Avengers of ageing sleuths

by admin August 22, 2025

The Thursday Murder Club is a movie mystery that’s perfect for armchair detectives who like their crime cozy and their comedy broad.

Published in September 2020, The Thursday Murder Club was TV presenter Richard Osman’s debut novel, and it quickly became a sensation.

The book flew off shelves, sequels followed – as did an acclaimed radio adaptation – and now the movie version has arrived courtesy of Netflix.

Home Alone helmer Chris Columbus directs, while the cast is filled with the best pensioners money can buy; a cavalcade of stars clearly having a ball bringing Osman’s weird and wonderful characters to life.

Article continues after ad

What’s The Thursday Murder Club about?

Netflix

The Thursday Murder Club is set in a beautiful retirement community called Cooper’s Chase, where the sun always shines, and there’s everything a retiree could want, from support llamas, archery classes, and a jigsaw room, to life drawing lessons that feature hot men with their tops off.

Article continues after ad

It’s idyllic and quaint beyond belief, but every Thursday, a group of residents commandeer said jigsaw room, and investigate cold cases from the past.

They start with an unsolved 1973 mystery concerning “the woman in white who fell out of a window.” But then murder rears its head in the present, via a fresh mystery involving dodgy businessmen and even dodgier gangsters, as well as the ownership of Cooper’s Chase itself.

Article continues after ad

So using age and experience to their advantage – plus a healthy dose of cunning, and less healthy slices of cake – the Thursday Murder Club set about solving the case and saving their home.

Who is in the club?

NetflixRichard Osman flanked his Thursday Murder Club cast.

Each member of the Thursday Murder Club possesses a different and very specific set of skills, making them a bit like the Avengers of elderly sleuths, or a geriatric Justice League.

Helen Mirren is Elizabeth, the group’s leader, who very possibly worked as a government spy. Ben Kingsley is Ibrahim, a former psychiatrist who is usually the smartest person in the room. While Pierce Brosnan is Ron, a retired trade union leader who’s as tough as nails.

They’re an investigative trio at the start of the movie, and our way into the story is through Celia Imrie’s Joyce, a former nurse who is new to Cooper’s Chase, and whom the club brings onboard for her medical expertise.

Brosnan’s dodgy cockney accent aside – the second time he’s offended our ears following the MobLand debacle – the Thursday Murder Club is cast well, and make a winning team when working together.

Article continues after ad

But it’s Mirren who delivers the standout performance, not when she’s barking orders at her crew or the local constabulary, but rather when Elizabeth is with husband Stephen (Jonathan Pryce), who suffers from dementia. Played to perfection by the pair, their touching scenes are both heartwarming and heartbreaking.

Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Mays bring the biggest laughs

NetflixNaomie Ackie and Daniel Mays play police officers.

But while there are sad moments spread throughout the movie, they’re outnumbered by some big laughs.

Accent notwithstanding, Brosnan gets some of the biggest, most notably when he’s glimpsed exercising with old dears in the pool, but also when scruffy Ron is fooling the coppers, or smart Ron is giving them a dressing down in his wedding suit.

Other highlights including a cracking Queen Elizabeth II gag, a funny sequence involving the drinking of gin on a bus, and a shocker concerning the aforementioned life drawing that needs to be seen to be believed.

The movie also mines mirth from local coppers being outthought and outwitted by the TMC, with Daniel Mays hilarious as the increasingly confused and frustrated DCI Hughes.

Is The Thursday Murder Club good?

Netflix

The Thursday Murder Clubs is a solid murder-mystery that keeps you guessing until the final few reels, while Katy Brand and Suzanne Heathcoate’s tight script ensures that the 118 minute run-time flies by.

Article continues after ad

There’s the odd contrivance, involving a dictaphone, bunches of flowers, and an awkward boxing pose. While it gets a little heavy-handed at times, through literal blood on a character’s hands, and a sexism sub-plot that feels tacked on.

But the jokes come thick and fast, while the movie’s best scenes happen in the quieter periods, when touching on more serious themes of loneliness, ill health, and the indignities of old age.

Article continues after ad

They’re fleeting moments, handled with sensitivity by Columbus and his cast, and they might just leave you with something in your eye when the credits roll.

Article continues after ad

The Thursday Murder Club score: 4/5

The Thursday Murder Club is twee beyond belief, but it’s also a faithful adaptation of Richard Osman’s novel; one that delivers the requisite murder and mystery, as well as laughter and the odd tear.

The Thursday Murder Club hits Netflix on August 28, 2025, while you can head here for more of the best thrillers on the streamer.
