Maple Finance Hits $4B AUM, Overtakes BlackRock’s BUIDL1

by admin September 17, 2025

Onchain asset manager Maple Finance has surpassed BlackRock’s BUIDL fund to become the largest in the sector, with its Assets Under Management (AUM) approaching $4 billion. The growth is largely driven by strong institutional demand for its yield-bearing stablecoin, syrupUSD, and recent expansions to new blockchain networks.

The surge in assets highlights a significant trend in decentralized finance (DeFi), according to Maple Finance CEO and co-founder Sid Powell. “The majority of Maple’s growth is being driven by institutional credit demand,” Powell stated, noting a pivot in the market. “It’s a shift away from opportunistic strategies toward a more stable, credit-driven yield base.”

The protocol’s investor deposits, which now stand at $3.8 billion, generate yield by providing capital to crypto-native businesses such as prime brokers, trading firms, and Bitcoin miners.

Expansion and Incentives Fuel Growth

Maple upgraded its services to the new blockchain, accelerating the company’s  growth. At the beginning of September, the protocol deployed on Arbitrum to participate in its $40 million DRIP reward scheme. More recently, on September 15, Maple launched syrupUSD on the new layer-2 network, Plasma. The launch included a $200 million pre-deposit vault, which was filled within 24 hours and offers exclusive rewards to early liquidity providers.

The total amount of money deposited into all DeFi lending systems has reached a new all-time high of almost $135 billion. Powell talked a lot about how Maple’s model is sustainable, saying that its yield is based on “real credit demand, not by circular activity or opaque leverage.” He also said, “We’re moving from experimental protocols toward durable financial rails that can support billions of dollars in capital.”

Maple Finance’s milestone signals a maturing onchain credit market and growing institutional confidence in DeFi-native yield products. By providing stable, credit-driven returns sourced from real-world business operations, Maple is demonstrating a sustainable alternative to the volatile and often speculative yields that characterized earlier DeFi cycles.

The company wants to have $5 billion in AUM by the end of the year. If it succeeds, it could encourage bigger names in finance to get involved with decentralized asset management.

Historic Flip: Bitcoin ETFs On Pace To Surpass Gold ETFs In AUM

by admin August 30, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

In the dynamic financial sector, Bitcoin ETFs are rapidly gaining ground against their gold counterparts, with inflows pushing total assets under management toward record highs. Bitcoin ETFs are set to overtake gold ETFs in total assets under management.

Bitcoin ETFs Cement Role As Institutional Gateway To Crypto

Bitcoin Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) are on the brink of making history globally. In an X post, the Kobeissi Letter, an industry-leading commentary on global capital markets, has revealed that BTC ETFs are on track to surpass Gold ETFs in assets under management (AUM) for the first time in history, marking a historic milestone in global markets. Over the past 12 months, AUM in the largest cryptocurrency ETFs has doubled to $150 billion, while gold ETFs have climbed 40% to a record of $180 billion.

The comparison highlights how rapidly momentum has shifted. Just three years ago, gold ETFs were five times larger than Bitcoin ETFs. Presently, with accelerating inflows into digital asset products, that gap is narrowing at a historic speed.

If current trends continue, Bitcoin ETFs could surpass gold ETFs as early as next year. This is a symbolic flip that underscores the rise of crypto from speculative asset to mainstream portfolio allocation.

Lately, ETFs are proving to be the engine behind the current crypto bull market. According to Ucan_Coin, BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, oversees nearly 2,000 funds, with about 1,400 of them being ETFs. Clients buy into these funds, while BlackRock earns fees on the assets under management.

However, the Bitcoin Spot ETF fee is just 0.25%, but the power lies in scale and liquidity. Over the last two years, ETFs have provided the critical fuel for this rally, with nearly 20% of all liquidity entering crypto now flowing directly from ETF products.

As Ucan_Coin highlights, BlackRock’s IBIT stands out. As the chart demonstrates, IBIT is the locomotive pulling the entire market, driving inflows and setting the pace for the broader bull run.

ETF Inflows Signal Rising Institutional Appetite For Bitcoin

The US spot Bitcoin ETFs are gaining remarkable momentum, while generating $5 to $10 billion in daily volume on their most active trading days. Pushpendra Singh, Co-founder of PushpendraTech and SmartViewAi, has explained that this surge is a clear sign that institutional investors are increasingly seeking regulated exposure to Bitcoin, and ETFs are rapidly becoming their preferred gateway.

Despite the ETF boom, Binance continues to dominate the spot market, processing between $10 to $18 billion in daily spot volume and holding a 29% market share. This is more than double the 13% market share currently held by US-based ETFs, and it puts Binance comfortably ahead of other major exchanges in terms of liquidity.

CoinShares posts $32.4m Q2 profit amid 26% AUM jump, eyes U.S. listing

by admin August 30, 2025

CoinShares closed the second quarter of 2025 with a notable 26% surge in assets under management, pushing its total to $3.46 billion. The asset manager said the growth was powered by climbing digital asset valuations and steady investor demand for its physical crypto ETPs.

Summary

  • CoinShares reported $32.4 million net profit for Q2 2025, up 1.9% YoY.
  • Assets under management rose 26% quarter-over-quarter to $3.46 billion, driven by crypto price gains and ETP inflows.
  • The firm plans a U.S. listing to access deeper capital market.

On August 29, European digital asset manager CoinShares announced a net profit of $32.4 million for Q2 2025, driven largely by a substantial 26% rise in assets under management, which reached $3.46 billion.

According to the firm, this performance was supported by rebounding crypto markets and strong net inflows of $170 million into its physically-backed exchange-traded products, making it the company’s second-best quarter ever for that segment.

Revenue streams and strategic expansion

Despite a year-over-year increase, CoinShares’ net profit fell 5.3% compared with the previous quarter. The firm’s capital markets division, which engages in activities like trading and lending, saw its income decrease to $11.3 million from $14.6 million a year prior.

After posting a $3.0 million unrealized loss in Q1, CoinShares’ strategic treasury management roared back with $7.8 million in gains for the quarter, signaling the firm’s active management in optimizing its strategic holdings for value creation, turning a previous headwind into a significant tailwind.

Product performance

The firm’s physical ETP suite, branded as CoinShares Physical, was the standout performer, attracting a substantial $170 million in net inflows. This demand for physically-backed, exchange-listed products in Europe cemented its position as the continent’s fastest-growing platform of its kind in the first half of the year.

However, the success starkly contrasts with the continued outflows from its legacy, derivatives-based XBT products, which saw $126 million exit. The net positive result is a testament to a strategic product shift that is successfully capturing modern institutional preference for spot-based exposure.

Notably, CoinShares’ proprietary BLOCK Index, designed to track a basket of crypto-focused equities, delivered an impressive 53.7% return during the quarter, soundly outperforming both Bitcoin and traditional equity indices like the S&P 500.

Looking ahead, CoinShares seeks a U.S. listing, a step designed to tap deeper capital markets and unlock greater shareholder value. CEO Jean-Marie Mognetti said the move would position the company alongside other high-profile U.S. crypto firms, where regulatory clarity and investor appetite have helped public valuations expand sharply.
