Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow is a valiant attempt to put the stealthy series back on track

It’s been 11 long years since its underwhelming reboot, but finally the Thief series is back with Thief VR: Legacy Of Shadow, and this time wannabe burglars will be using virtual reality to make their trinket yoinking even more immersive than it was before. Legacy Of Shadow is fifth entry in the series and, according to its developers, it’s set 200 years after the third game in the series, Thief: Deadly Shadows, and 200 years before the events of the 2014 reboot.

Legacy of Shadow features a player character called Magpie, a newcomer to the series who, at some point in the game, gets her hands (or I guess maybe that should be eye sockets) on Garrett’s legendary mechanical eye that he received after the climax of the very first game. This eye not only allows Magpie to activate something called Glyph Vision which highlights nearby enemies and points of interest, but also has the added bonus of allowing series fans the rejoice in the dulcet tones of Stephen Russell, making a welcome return here as the voice of the original Garrett, who Magpie begins to hear in her head after gaining the eye.

Recently, I played two levels from the game on PSVR 2, starting with the tutorial level Stonemarket. There, players get introduced to the game’s new protagonist Magpie, and reintroduced to The City and its eagle-eyed guards. After completion of that I was skipped forward a few levels to Ravencourt Manor, a much more traditional Thief-style heist level in which I had to infiltrate said Manor to pinch a mysterious treasure known as the Glyph Stone.

Visually, Legacy of Shadow looks really nice, in a gloomy, oppressive, probably smells real bad, Steampunk kind of way. The PSVR2’s HDR works great with the dark environments and there’s a high level of detail to not only the exteriors, with some lovely views across the City, but also in regards to the interiors and props too. There is a sort of semi-realism to the visuals – detailed but with a cel shaded vibe to them – but this suits the setting and it makes the game look comparable to the modern Thief reboot rather than the early noughties originals.

The lighting was great too, especially the way roaring fires in the street cast the shadows of guards against nearby walls so I could tell which way they were moving without having to leave the cover of darkness. Just like the rest of the world, Magpie’s hands and gloves have that highly detailed comic book styling to them too, but lovers of full body rigs will be disappointed to hear that you’re limited to controlling a couple of floaty hands only here.

On the subject of hands, how do the all-important virtual interactions fair? The amount of things you can pick up, play with and touch can either make or break a VR game in my opinion – thankfully there’s plenty of things to interact with here. There are drawers to slide open, foods to eat, candle flames to pinch out, vents to open and of course loads of props to pocket, smash or throw for handy distractions. Alongside all of this you’ve also got a physical inventory pouch which you pull out to access things like keys and quest items, and there’s a fairly satisfying lockpick mechanic which utilises gentle twists of the wrists in order to find the sweet spots of the lock.

The illusion of having a solid world wrapped around you isn’t pulled off quite as well though as, say, Batman Arkham Shadow. That was a similarly stealthy game but one with extra attention paid to the littlest details. In it, for instance, your virtual fingers would react to the rough surfaces you ran them across, following the contours and edges of ledges or walls. In Legacy of Shadows, when I tried something similar Magpie’s hands barely registered a difference which, while hardly game-breaking in any way, did reduce my immersion a tad.

The Thief reboot is almost unanimously regarded as the weakest game in the series and a lot of that has to do with its level design that focussed more on linear, parkour action and less on tightly designed playgrounds for pilfering. Series fans wanted to spend time casing joints and stealthing around looping interiors rather than pelting it from A to B across wooden beams and up climbable walls. But how does Legacy of Shadow compare? Well, there’s both good and bad news here. The first tutorial level wasn’t just visually reminiscent of the fourth game, but its level design was also very similar. Sure, there was no parkouring, there weren’t as many walls to climb and there were a couple of small looping areas and a sewer to waddle through, but it still felt fairly linear in its design.

To give the game the benefit of the doubt, this level was probably simplified in order to better ease people into the experience as the later level that I played, Ravencourt Manor, was much more intricate in its level design, echoing those of the classic Thief games. There were multiple routes of entry into the Manor, various paths to take both inside and out and the building itself was a multi-floored structure that encouraged stealthy exploration and careful planning. I will say that this level felt smaller than the classic Lord Bafford’s Manor level from the first game but as a counter to that, the modern day visuals meant that Ravencourt felt like a much more realistic location to inhabit.

A Thief game isn’t really a Thief game if the stealth is done wrong, which is yet another reason why the reboot didn’t land too well with fans. Thankfully, Legacy of Shadow looks to be going in the right direction, mainly thanks to the inclusion of VR, which makes the feeling of crouching behind boxes and popping your head up from sewer grates feel so much more immersive. Sure, the Thief reboot had a ‘Peek’ button, but in Legacy of Shadows, your neck is the peek button and that makes every moment of sneaking and spying feel way more true to life – you’re actually there after all!

Staying in the shadows is once again the order of the day if you want to sneak past guards successfully. There’s a light meter on the back of Magpie’s glove which will tell you if you’re illuminated, and there’s a few nifty tools at your disposal that will help you extinguish light sources, like water arrows and the ability to pinch out candle flames. One of the coolest little additions to the game is that you can also physically blow out the candles using your headset’s microphone, a feature that also doubles up as a potential distraction tool. Turn this setting on and the microphone will pick up your voice, meaning you can shout at guards to cause distractions or lure them towards you, but it’s probably best to leave this one off if you’re a streamer and want to commentate on your playthrough, given the constant babbling will broadcast your location at all times.

There were a couple of very cool moments of stealth that stood out during my playthrough. One involved sneaking around a room with a sleeping guard in it, quietly opening drawers and reading notes until I worked out how to unlock a cell door to gain the loot inside, and the other was when I accidentally alerted a pair of soldiers who were guarding the level exit as I tried to climb out of the sewers. This drew them to my location, so I jumped back into the sewers, climbed out of another manhole, and legged it through the now-unguarded exit.

Other stealthy mechanics in the game include pickpocketting, a bow-and-arrow for long range kills or takedowns and, if you’re feeling cheeky, there are plenty of objects lying around that you can throw at sleeping guards if you want to troll them just before you escape.

If you’re trying to leg it to the exit of a level after some top notch shop lifting, it’s important that you can get around accurately, and the movement schemes for Legacy of Shadow were all pretty responsive. There’s no teleport to move here, only smooth movement, but you can choose between click turning and smooth turning if you’ve got a slightly wobbly tummy. That was the only movement option in the menus of the demo I played, so crouching had to be done with a button press rather than physically crouching which, to be fair, is probably a wise choice – playing this game without click to crouch would be murder on the knees. I had no issues with wandering around the environments, but there’s also a fair amount of places to climb, be it ladders to reach vantage points or handily placed bricks which inevitably lead to a lovely little loot stash. Whenever I did have to climb anything, my grip felt accurate and I had no problem pulling myself up from things or vaulting through windows.

Of course, just because the movement works well doesn’t mean you won’t accidentally bumble around a corner and into the full view of a patrolling guard, and that’s where combat comes in. Although, I actually didn’t get to try much combat because I was told that it’s best to avoid being spotted altogether, seeing as death comes at you fast once you are. You do have a blackjack weapon, which will be familiar to series fans, and you can use this to knock enemies out from behind, but it’s useless in face-to-face combat. The only lethal weapon I tried was the bow which, to me at least, felt a bit clunky to aim with. It’s definitely not useful at super long range, and it doesn’t seem to do a huge amount of damage, so it might be best to limit its use to a tool that aids your stealth, because it seems like a fairly unreliable murder weapon.

All in all, Thief VR looks like a worthy addition to the series, combining the gameplay stylings of both the originals and the remake into a meaty VR stealth game that should please the hardcore, whilst also giving the series a modern spin for newcomers. The return of Garrett is also going to be music to fans’ ears, and I can already envisage non-VR-owning Thief fans lamenting the fact that they won’t be able to get their mechanical eyes on this one without shelling out for a headset first. In terms of the absolute level of execution, it’s definitely behind Batman Arkham Shadow, which really is the gold standard of VR immersion for me – especially considering that was a Quest 3 exclusive – but it’s still looking like it’ll be a well-assembled, challenging Thiefy experience. And, in my opinion, the stealth game genre is way more enjoyable and exciting in VR than it is in standard flatscreen anyway. If you, like me, want to put your face inside a Thief then, you’ll be able to do so on PlayStation VR2, PC VR, Meta Quest 2, 3 and 3S sometime this year.

The price performance of Ethereum, Shiba Inu and Bitcoin is somewhat similar as all those assets are trying to recover and reach price levels that will make them stand out. Unfortunately, those recoveries are almost completely baseless and unlikely to yield strong movements toward local highs.

Shiba Inu not stabilizing?

The price of Shiba Inu has dropped to $0.00001105 and is not showing any signs of stabilizing, marking yet another period of intense pressure. There are no obvious support areas left to stop the decline after the token broke below its multi-month symmetrical triangle structure. Without volume, momentum, or any discernible buy-side strength, SHIB appears on the verge of dropping its price by another zero.

SHIB has lost important moving averages on the technical front, such as the 200-day EMA ($0.0000135) and the 50-day EMA ($0.0000125). The breakdown below these levels emphasizes the dominance of sellers and validates the exhaustion of bullish attempts. A clear rejection from descending resistance is followed by a steady decline with no indication of a demand spike, as the chart depicts.

Trends in volume support this pessimistic view. Comparing trading activity to previous accumulation phases, it has collapsed, indicating a sharp decline in investor interest in SHIB. Since there are fewer bids to absorb sell orders, downside moves typically accelerate in low-volume settings. Another level of concern is added by momentum indicators. The RSI is slightly above oversold territory at 37, indicating weak momentum.

Relief rallies may normally be possible during oversold conditions, but in SHIB’s case, any bounce is unlikely to last due to the absence of accompanying volume. SHIB is basically in free fall because there isn’t any strong support. The $0.00001000 level is the next round-number zone. This psychological level may encourage speculative buying, but if it is broken below, SHIB’s price could drop to a new zero and possibly into the $0.00000900 range.

Ethereum takes it back

Ethereum has successfully recovered the $4,000 mark, which has now turned into a battleground for bulls and bears. ETH recovered from the 100-day EMA at $3,800 after a steep decline from highs close to $4,800, regaining significant ground and indicating that buyers are not yet prepared to relinquish control. Ethereum is currently trading just above $4,000 on the daily chart, but the recovery is not strong.

At 37, a surge of sell pressure caused the RSI to approach oversold territory, providing technical traders with a point of entry for a recovery. Volume data indicates that although buying interest has increased, it is still not robust enough to ensure long-term momentum. Since it serves as a mid-range pivot between the $3,800 support and the $4,300 resistance, as well as a psychological threshold, the $4,000 level is crucial.

The 50-day EMA and the descending resistance trendline converge at $4,280 and $4,300, which are the next targets if ETH can maintain above this level. If there is a breakout above this area, the path may reopen to $4,600 and ultimately retest the cycle highs around $4,800. Still, there is a significant chance of losing $4,000. An additional retest of $3,800, the final solid support before a possible decline toward the 200 EMA around $3,400, would be exposed if ETH were to close below this level on a daily basis.

In summary, while ETH has gained $4,000, the fight is far from over. To keep the recovery going, the bulls must firmly defend this level, any weakness could make the current rebound into just another relief rally inside a larger correction.

Bitcoin pushback

Talk of a possible push back toward $110,000 has been sparked by Bitcoin’s apparent bounce around $109,000. This comeback attempt, however, seems to be more of a transient response than a firm reversal, because it seems brittle and lacks structural support. Recently, Bitcoin fell below the 50-day EMA ($113,700) and the 100-day EMA ($112,200) on the daily chart, indicating short-term weakness. At $106,200, the price is currently just above the 200-day EMA, which is still the last significant safety net for bulls.

Although the 200 EMA has historically served as a long-term support, the current bounce did not come from it; rather, BTC is merely attempting to regain ground following several days of aggressive selling. This is what gives the recovery attempt the appearance of being unfounded. The current upswing lacks volume and conviction, in contrast to recoveries from oversold extremes or strong support zones. The lack of trading activity indicates that buyers are reluctant to intervene forcefully.

Near 38, the RSI is almost oversold, but not quite low enough to indicate exhaustion. This creates space for additional declines in the event that bearish sentiment returns. Bitcoin must recover the $112,000-$114,000 range, where the broken moving averages are currently acting as resistance, in order to confirm the $110,000 comeback. The market would only be able to view this rebound as more than a brief break in the downward trend at that point. Any short-term gains run the risk of being unwound quickly until that time.

To put it briefly, Bitcoin is making an effort to recover toward $110,000, but the move appears uncertain in the absence of a solid base or robust buyer support. The real test is yet to come: either regain momentum and overcome resistance, or run the risk of another retest of the $106,000 level, where the 200 EMA is waiting as the last line of defense.

XRP has recovered modestly from the $2.70 level, where selling pressure temporarily subsided, but now finds itself at a crucial crossroads. Debate has centered on whether the bounce is the start of a recovery attempt, or just a dead cat bounce in the middle of a larger downtrend.

As can be seen from the chart, XRP is currently trading at about $2.78, below the 100-day EMA at about $2.83 as well as its descending trendline resistance. Bulls are put to the test right away by these two obstacles. It is still possible that the current move will be classified as a temporary relief rally rather than a structural recovery, until XRP can convincingly regain this zone and maintain momentum above $2.90-$3.00.

The recent decline below $2.88 was noteworthy, because it deprives XRP of a crucial mid-range support level. At $2.60, the price then fell back to the 200 EMA, which held firm and served as the foundation for the current rebound. Accordingly, even though bears control the short-term trend, the longer-term structure holds firm as long as $2.60 is not broken.

Momentum not flipping

The outlook offered by momentum indicators is not entirely clear. There are currently no clear indications of bullish divergence, and the RSI is close to 44, indicating neutral-to-weak momentum. Compared to the strong sell-side activity during the decline, volume on the rebound has also been muted, which raises doubts about how strong the recovery will be.

XRP might aim for $3.10 and possibly retest the descending resistance line close to $3.20 if it is able to break above $2.90. A move like that would start to cast doubt on the idea that this is merely a dead cat bounce. On the other hand, if $2.83-$2.90 cannot be regained, there may be more downward pressure, which could push XRP back toward $2.70, and perhaps retest $2.60.

XRP’s recovery is still uncertain. The $2.83-$2.90 range will determine whether this move is a true attempt at recovery or merely a brief rest before lowering the leg again. As of right now, it is still best to exercise caution until XRP can demonstrate that it can effectively reverse its downward trend.

Epic will let Fortnite creators sell in-game items in latest attempt to compete with Roblox

Creators building experiences in Fortnite are getting a new way to earn revenue. Epic says developers will soon have the ability to make and sell in-game items in Fortnite, and earn a cut of the V-Bucks users spend to buy them. Previously, developers only earned money through Fortnite based on the amount of time users spent on their “islands,” the in-game name for third-party experiences creators can offer through Fortnite.

Developers will be able to create their consumable and durable in-game items using soon-to-be-released tools in Unreal Editor for Fortnite and a new “Verse-based API,” according to Epic. The company also plans to be generous with the revenue split its offering, at least at first. Developers “will ordinarily earn 50 percent of the V-Bucks value from sales in their islands,” but from December 2025 through the end of 2026, they’ll get to keep 100 percent.

Epic says its 50 percent cut — notably more than the 30 percent popularized by Apple’s App Store — is to help “contribute to server hosting costs, safety and moderation costs, R&D and other operating expenses” of running Fortnite. It’s also a make-good of sorts, since Epic claims it’s been “investing and operating the business at a loss.”

How much 100 percent or 50 percent of “V-Bucks value” actually equals in real money unfortunately isn’t as simple as converting Fortnite’s digital currency to dollars, though. Epic offers the following explanation for how it calculates V-Bucks value:

To determine the V-Bucks value in US dollars in a given month, we take all customer real-money spending to purchase V-Bucks (converted to US Dollars), subtract platform and store fees (ranging from 12 percent on Epic Games Store to 30 percent on current consoles), and divide it by the total V-Bucks spent by players. Fortnite’s average platform and store fees are currently 26 percent (with specific fees ranging from 12 percent on the Epic Games Store to 30 percent on console platforms). So, 50 percent of V-Bucks value translates to ~37 percent of retail spending, and 100 percent of V-Bucks value translates to ~74 percent.

Alongside the new ability to create in-game items, Epic says Fortnite developers will be able to pay to be featured in a new “Sponsored row” inside Fortnite‘s Discover feed. And to better engage new and returning players, developers are also getting access to new tools for creating community forums and sharing updates on their islands.

All of these changes are in service of further extending Fortnite‘s ability to act as a platform for games and social experiences, rather than just a battle royale game (with racing, rhythm game and LEGO spin-offs). Epic clearly wants Fortnite to be Roblox, and reap the benefits of having an active community of adult and child users creating experiences for its platform. Cultivating that audience has led to all sorts of child safety problems for Roblox, but Epic clearly views the risks to be worth it.

French Police Detain Seven Following Latest Crypto Kidnap Attempt

French authorities have detained seven suspects following the kidnapping of a 20-year-old Swiss man, believed to be the latest case in France’s growing wave of cryptocurrency-related abductions.

The victim was rescued last Sunday in Valence during a special operation involving 150 gendarmes.

He was reportedly found tied up in a house near the city’s high-speed train station, according to regional newspaper Le Dauphiné Libéré.

The case is the latest in a spate of so-called “wrench attacks” in France, in which kidnappers target wealthy crypto traders, executives or their families for ransom, often using violent methods to force the surrender of digital assets.

Security experts warn the country now leads Europe in such incidents, with analyst Jameson Lopp tracking at least 10 wrench attacks in France in 2025 alone, nearly a quarter of the 48 reported globally this year.

Crypto kidnappings around the world

David Sehyeon Baek, a cybercrime consultant, previously told Decrypt that the number of incidents is likely higher than reported.

“Many cases never reach the public eye because victims choose silence to protect their reputation or avoid becoming repeat targets,” he said.

Nevertheless, France has faced some of the most brutal recent cases. In January, kidnappers seized Ledger co-founder David Balland, severed his finger and demanded ransom before his release.

In May, the father of a Malta-based crypto executive was abducted in Paris. His finger was also cut off before a police raid freed him. And in June, police arrested alleged mastermind Badiss Mohamed Amide Bajjou in Morocco and charged 25 suspects in schemes that included an attack on Paymium CEO Pierre Noizat’s pregnant daughter.

The problem, however, extends far beyond France. Criminal groups worldwide are seizing on the anonymity and portability of cryptocurrencies to extort victims, making digital wealth a uniquely tempting target.

Victims include both those working in crypto and other wealthy individuals whom kidnappers demand pay their ransoms in crypto.

In March, Chinese-Filipino steel magnate Anson Que was killed after kidnappers demanded $20 million in crypto. In Hong Kong, a Turkish man was ambushed during a multimillion-euro crypto trade.

And in Brazil, a Spanish businessman was drugged and held for five days while criminals sought $50 million in ransom.

Following weeks of intense pressure, XRP broke out of a symmetrical triangle and tested the support zone around $2.70. On the daily chart, a spinning bottom candlestick pattern has surfaced as a possible lifeline, though as it frequently indicates indecision at the end of a downtrend and prepares the market for a reversal.

Given that this candlestick is showing up at such a crucial point, it may indicate that buyers are beginning to overtake sellers. Crucially, XRP is currently trading just above its 100-day moving average, which has historically been a reliable rebound point in this cycle.

If follow-through purchases are verified, this arrangement might signal the start of a fresh phase of recovery. XRP recently failed to hold the $2.95-$3.00 range, which is the first major resistance in the short term.

The reversal would be confirmed and the path toward $3.10, the upper limit of recent consolidation, would be cleared if there was a break and daily close above this level. The more ambitious goal beyond that is $3.25-$3.30, which corresponds to the descending trendline that capped the most recent triangle formation.

The immediate support on the downside is still $2.70. XRP may move toward the 200-day moving average at $2.50, the bulls’ last line of defense, if it loses this level on high volume, invalidating the reversal pattern.

As of right now, XRP has a good chance of stabilizing and rising, thanks to the candlestick reversal. In the upcoming sessions, traders should keep an eye out for confirmation, particularly regarding the bulls’ ability to convincingly push XRP back above $3.00.

If they are successful, the present spinning bottom may be the pivotal moment that prevents XRP from plunging any lower and reopens the way to growth.

Solana’s new dominance?

SOL is currently trading at about $200 on the chart, demonstrating resiliency despite experiencing volatility earlier this year. With the token maintaining above important moving averages and defending its uptrend support, its consistent increase since June is indicative of rekindled investor confidence.

The price movement of Ethereum nowadays is similar to Solana’s as Ether is moving in a textbook uptrend with a one higher high after another, which might allow it reach a new height of $5,000. In the case of Solana, it began showing similar signs of heavy accumulation, which might become a foundation for solid growth. Recently, the asset broke $200, an important psychological threshold.

This essentially establishes Solana as a viable substitute for those who feel “late” for Ethereum. Growth is not unavoidable, but there’s a solid chance that SOL will pick up ETH’s successful market performance we saw in the last few months.

With its extensive liquidity and Layer-2 scaling, Ethereum has solidified its position as the industry standard. But Solana continues to demonstrate that it can sustain security and uptime at scale.

Bitcoin: It’s difficult

Given the ongoing selling pressure on the market, Bitcoin (BTC) is seeing one of its most difficult reversal attempts in months. Bitcoin has gone into what can only be described as a free fall after failing to hold above $120,000, and the technical picture indicates that buyers might not see any respite for some time.

Bitcoin has fallen below significant short- and midterm moving averages, including the 50-day EMA, which was once a crucial dynamic support, and is currently trading at about $109,000.

Due to this collapse, Bitcoin now has few areas of immediate support. Near the 200-day EMA at about $104,000 is the next significant cushion. If that level is broken, the structure appears even more shaky, leaving Bitcoin vulnerable to more significant retracements.

A risky situation is created by the absence of solid support areas below the current price. At this point in the rally, Bitcoin is in open space as opposed to earlier when several technical levels offered safety nets for pullbacks.

Because even small selling waves can turn into more aggressive downside moves, this makes any attempt at reversal extremely challenging. The fact that trading volume has not surrendered adds credence to the bearish argument.

Bulls waiting for a bottom signal may become frustrated if Bitcoin grinds lower in a slow bleed in the absence of a strong flush of sellers leaving. RSI and other momentum indicators are still weak, and there isn’t any obvious divergence that suggests a bounce is about to happen.

In summary, Bitcoin is currently undergoing one of its most difficult reversal attempts to date. There is little chance of a sustainable recovery in the near future because momentum is strongly against it, and there is no obvious support.

Anthropic will nuke your attempt to use AI to build a nuke

If you’re the type of person who asks Claude how to make a sandwich, you’re fine. If you’re the type of person who asks the AI chatbot how to build a nuclear bomb, you’ll not only fail to get any blueprints, you might also face some pointed questions of your own. That’s thanks to Anthropic’s newly deployed detector of problematic nuclear prompts.

Like other systems for spotting queries Claude shouldn’t respond to, the new classifier scans user conversations, in this case flagging any that veer into “how to build a nuclear weapon” territory. Anthropic built the classification feature in a partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), giving it all the information it needs to determine whether someone is just asking about how such bombs work or if they’re looking for blueprints. It’s performed with 96% accuracy in tests.

Though it might seem over-the-top, Anthropic sees the issue as more than merely hypothetical. The chance that powerful AI models may have access to sensitive technical documents and could pass along a guide to building something like a nuclear bomb worries federal security agencies. Even if Claude and other AI chatbots block the most obvious attempts, innocent-seeming questions could in fact be veiled attempts at crowdsourcing weapons design. The new AI chatbot generations might help even if it’s not what their developers intend.

The classifier works by drawing a distinction between benign nuclear content, asking about nuclear propulsion, for instance, and the kind of content that could be turned to malicious use. Human moderators might struggle to keep up with any gray areas at the scale AI chatbots operate, but with proper training, Anthropic and the NNSA believe the AI could police itself. Anthropic claims its classifier is already catching real-world misuse attempts in conversations with Claude.

Nuclear AI safety

Nuclear weapons in particular represent a uniquely tricky problem, according to Anthropic and its partners at the DoE. The same foundational knowledge that powers legitimate reactor science can, if slightly twisted, provide the blueprint for annihilation. The arrangement between Anthropic and the NNSA could catch deliberate and accidental disclosures, and set up a standard to prevent AI from being used to help make other weapons, too. Anthropic plans to share its approach with the Frontier Model Forum AI safety consortium.

The narrowly tailored filter is aimed at making sure users can still learn about nuclear science and related topics. You still get to ask about how nuclear medicine works, or whether thorium is a safer fuel than uranium.

What the classifier attempts to circumvent are attempts to turn your home into a bomb lab with a few clever prompts. Normally, it would be questionable if an AI company could thread that needle, but the expertise of the NNSA should make the classifier different from a generic content moderation system. It understands the difference between “explain fission” and “give me a step-by-step plan for uranium enrichment using garage supplies.”

This doesn’t mean Claude was previously helping users design bombs. But it could help forestall any attempt to do so. Stick to asking about the way radiation can cure diseases or ask for creative sandwich ideas, not bomb blueprints.
