Nintendo Switch 2 consoles arrive damaged as retailer staples receipts on outer packaging

by admin June 6, 2025

Customers are reporting that they are receiving their all-new Nintendo Switch 2 consoles with receipts stapled to the front of boxes, damaging the screens.

As spotted by IGN, dozens of customers have taken to social media to show how the stapling process has irrevocably damaged their system. The majority of complaints appear to stem from U.S. consumers who purchased their consoles from GameStop.

While many players are frustrated with the retailer, others are also questioning why Nintendo’s packaging materials do not provide better protection for the contents, as there’s very little padding around the screen to protect it during transit.

“We are investigating the matter and will make customers whole,” a GameStop spokesperson later confirmed to IGN, although a lack of supply likely means those consumers will have to wait several weeks, if not months, for a replacement.

Earlier this week, we reported that major retailers in the US have started contacting customers to inform them their Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders have been canceled just days ahead of the console’s formal release.

Will Your Switch 2 Arrive In Time? It’s The Question On Everyone’s Mind

by admin June 4, 2025

On the eve of the Nintendo Switch 2’s launch, there’s one question on everyone’s mind: When, exactly, will the shiny new console they preordered arrive?

It’s a question that is surprisingly difficult to answer. While one might assume Switch 2 preorders to arrive on launch day, June 5, one look at social media shows that is far from the case. There is frustration from those with Switch 2 preorders who have had their preorders canceled last minute. Others are dealing with vague arrival times that makes it unclear if it will arrive on launch day or some time later. Some have preorders that are set to arrive almost a week later, adding to the confusion.

Now Playing: Nintendo Switch 2 – Official System Overview Trailer

Among those of us here at GameSpot, there are at least two people who preordered at Target who apparently won’t get their Switch 2 orders until June 11. Another who ordered from Walmart is set to have theirs delivered by launch day, but the exact timing is unclear, with Walmart stating it will arrive before 10 PM despite previous guarantees of delivery by 9 AM.

People who preordered from Walmart seem to have it especially bad, with reports on social media of canceled preorders at the last minute related to payment issues, despite many users claiming to have double checked their payment info and confirmed with customer service representatives that their order was secure.

Even those who preordered directly from Nintendo aren’t safe, as Nintendo makes clear on its website that those who signed up to preorder directly from the My Nintendo Store might not receive the chance to purchase a Switch 2 ahead of launch day. Those who did secure preorders may receive their Switch 2 on June 5, but Nintendo makes clear there’s no guarantee.

It’s a familiar feeling to that of April 24, when Switch 2 preorders first went live and would-be Switch 2 owners had to endure disappearing orders, overloaded websites, and virtual queues that went nowhere. The entire Switch 2 preorder process was a chaotic mess, with potential buyers waiting for close to two hours, all the while unclear if waiting in a digital line was doing them any good or if their preorders would suddenly vanish into thin air.

Despite all the technical difficulties and confusion, it’s clear demand for Nintendo’s new console is extremely high. It is, after all, not every day a new Nintendo console arrives, and Switch 2-exclusive games like Mario Kart World will be the kind of game players keep coming back to for years to come. Some retailers will have limited Switch 2 stock to sell on launch day, and people are already lining up outside stores for a chance to secure one.

Once the Switch 2 is more widely available this will all be a distant memory (or nightmare), but for now, it’s mostly just disappointing how frustrating and confusing the entire process has been. For those waiting to see if their preorder arrives on time (or at all), good luck. We’re all going to need it.

12 years after teasing buses were coming to Euro Truck Simulator 2, they finally arrive

by admin June 2, 2025

You know how it is: you rush to the bus stop because you think you’re going to miss it, then it arrives 12 years late. Typical. The makers of Euro Truck Simulator 2 have shown off a short trailer with a big shiny European coach in it. It confirms that the sim will add driveable buses in some form soon, fulfilling a long-forgotten tease that was first made by the developers back in the cloudy days of 2013.

Watch on YouTube

The trailer was included in a brief update post on Steam, showing a big white bus pulling out from behind a Scania truck. Surprise! The game is basically now Euro Truck And/Or Bus Simulator 2.

“We’ve crossed borders, hauled freight, and explored countless cities across Europe,” say developers SCS Software. “But just like any great journey, the road is always full of surprises. Something different is pulling into view, a new way to experience the world of Euro Truck Simulator 2. See you at the next stop.”

The devs haven’t said exactly what form the buses will take, or which lurching road carriages will appear (please, not Megabus) but it’ll likely be a big DLC pack. It is the culmination of a desire the developers seem to have harboured for over a decade. They first pondered the possibility of adding buses back in February 2013, writing in a blog post they were “exploring an opportunity to go beyond just trucks” and saying they were off “recording sounds and taking tons of photos of a Scania Touring HD Bus”. But it looks like those plans got delayed on the roadside until now.

It’s a pleasant possibility to some but not surprising to all. Some players have noted the appearance of more detailed bus stops along their usual trucking routes in recent updates, and say the bussification of the sim makes sense. Although others in the game’s Steam forums seem grumpy that buses aren’t getting their own dedicated sim. However you feel, it’s a move that’s in keeping with the studio’s recent plans for their other sim, American Truck Simulator, which plans to introduce driveable pickup trucks and other smaller cars as part of a “Road Trip” expansion.
