September becomes an even more ridiculous month for releases as Hades 2 announces it’s dropping in 2 weeks

by admin September 12, 2025

Hades II – v1.0 Launch Trailer (Coming Sep. 25!) – YouTube

Watch On

In an event for something called the ‘Nintendo Switch,’ the well-coiffed businessmen took a break from hollering about Mario to drop a sly reveal: Hades 2’s full release date. It’s well, imminent: Hades 2 hits 1.0 this September 25, or 13 days from now. It’ll hit Switch at the same time, should you want to play it there.

You might actually want to, by the way, because one of the bells and whistles Supergiant’s bringing to the game on the 25th is cross-saves. “In v1.0, Hades II offers cross saves between the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 versions and the version here on Steam. If you’ve been playing in early access and wish to continue the journey on Nintendo’s game consoles, you’ll be able to transfer your save data through a simple in-game menu,” quoth the announcement post.

If you’re staring slack-jawed at the headline, swearing up and down that Hades 2 was already out, I don’t blame you. The game’s been in early access for over a year now, and was already good enough that our Harvey Randall made it his personal GOTY pick for last year.

So I have a sneaking suspicion the full release will probably be quite good, and no doubt we’ll be along with a review when the game goes full 1.0 to let you know in the hopefully unlikely event Supergiant somehow biffs it at the final hurdle.

I wonder if the devs are nervous—I feel like I can sense a little bit of that in the announce post. “Hades 2 is our team’s first-ever sequel, and we’ve been giving it everything we’ve got for more than four and a half years,” says Supergiant. “The result is the biggest game we’ve ever made, and one we hope you’ll find to be a worthy successor to its namesake.”

I’d be very surprised if it wasn’t. But we’ll find out for sure when the Hades 2 full release hits Steam on September 25. Is it just me, or is this September absolutely buckwild, release-wise?

Roblox announces new AI tools for creators

by admin September 11, 2025

Roblox Corporation has announced a suite of new tools designed to help creators “bring to life compelling content, scale their audience, increase their earning potential, and build successful businesses.”

The company announced the “new innovations” during its 11th annual Roblox Developers Conference (RDC) on September 5, 2025, revealing a number of AI updates that aim to “offer creators artistic freedom, enhanced functionality, and smarter development assistance.”

As part of these AI updates, Roblox Corporation is “advancing generative AI with 4D object creation.”

The company clarifies that, in this case, the fourth wall is interaction, with this new tool allowing for “interaction between objects, environments, and people, providing models with built-in functionality.”

This 4D Objects tool will have a limited release and is coming in Q4 2025.

The company is also building upon the AI-powered real-time text chat translation tool it released in February 2024.

Roblox Corporation plans to roll out real-time voice chat translation next year, which will allow those who speak English, Spanish, French, and German to voice chat, with the AI tool translating their words into the listener’s native language.

In addition, these updates will add text-to-speech and speech-to-text application programming interfaces (APIs) to the platform.

The text-to-speech API is currently in limited release and can convert text to audio from ten preset voices. The speech-to-text API, on the other hand, allows users to trigger actions with verbal commands, which Roblox said “powers a new level of immersion and accessibility.” A limited release of this tool will be rolled out “by the end of the year.”

These new AI capabilities also include assistant improvements. Assistant, which allows Roblox creators to use plain language to code, is “more agentic and context aware,” but it will also become compatible with the model context protocol (MCP) later this month.

“This is significant because in addition to operating as an MCP server, assistant will be able to act as a client and orchestrate work across popular third-party services like Figma and Blockade Labs,” Roblox said.

Alongside these AI-based tools, Roblox Corporation unveiled advancements to performance and fidelity “to expand into new genres and novel types of gameplay,” including avatar improvements, a new server authority mode, and enhanced engine performance.

The company also announced a new short-form video experience, Roblox Moments (beta), that aims to help creators grow and engage their audiences, and an increase to its Developer Exchange Program (DevEx) rate, which will see creators earning 8.5% more when they turn their earned Robux into cash.

According to Roblox Corporation, in the 12 months ending June 30, 2025, Roblox creators earned over $1 billion via DevEx and “are on track to exceed this in 2025.”

“Our goal is for developers to have the opportunity to transform their ideas into growing businesses,” said Nick Tornow, Roblox senior vice president of engineering.

“Time and again, we see that when we give our creators powerful tools and opportunities, they create things that inspire us by pushing the boundaries of creative possibility.

“At Roblox, better tools, including many with AI capabilities, will help creators get from idea to shared reality faster.”

Apple announces new entry-level Apple Watch SE 3 with always-on display

by admin September 9, 2025

Apple has a refreshed entry-level smartwatch for 2025, the new Apple Watch SE 3. Announced at its “awe dropping” event alongside new iPhones, the new SE 3 gets a faster S10 processor, more battery life, and (finally) an always-on display.

The 2025 Apple Watch SE is a follow-up to the outgoing model, which was launched back in 2022. It’s once again Apple’s new base model wearable — typically a parts-bin remix of previous and current flagship features offered for a lower price. This isthe third iteration of Apple’s cheaper watches. The last-gen SE started at $249 for a 40mm version and $279 for 44mm. It used the same size screen and design of the older Apple Watch Series 6, but it shared the newer S8 processor of the Series 8 and Ultra watches that it launched beside. But it left out features like an always-on display and sensors for temperature, EKG, and blood oxygen.

Asmongold announces indefinite streaming hiatus to prioritize his father’s health

by admin September 8, 2025

Twitch and Kick star Asmongold is stepping away from streaming indefinitely to focus on his father, who is battling pancreatic cancer.

The 35-year-old content creator has been one of the biggest names in streaming throughout 2025, even topping the charts as the most-watched streamer of Q2 after deciding to broadcast on both Twitch and Kick.

On YouTube, his commentary videos on gaming, politics, and industry debates regularly pull in millions of views.

However, on September 8, Zack ‘Asmongold’ Hoyt announced that he will be putting his career on hold to take care of his father until the situation is resolved “one way or another.”

Asmongold explains why he’s taking a break from streaming

“Originally, he went to the hospital for pneumonia. Then upon leaving had a test that showed acute liver failure that turned out to be pancreatic cancer. Not a good day,” he revealed in a statement to fans.

Asmongold explained that while his father began chemotherapy, complications quickly arose. He described one harrowing night where he “ended up sleeping on the floor next to his bed” after his father struggled to breathe following treatment.

A few days later, doctors recommended hospitalization after his father’s blood pressure dropped to “some insanely low number like 74/53.”

Although he noted there have been “marginal improvements,” the situation remains serious.

“Because of the severity, this will require my full attention until it is resolved one way or another, which means streams will be on hiatus until that time comes,” he said. “There’s nothing I’d rather do more than go live and continue on like I always do, but my obligation to my father must take priority.”

Asmongold did not give a timeline for his return, citing the uncertainty of his father’s condition, but assured fans he would provide updates when possible. He also thanked his community for the outpouring of support, saying both he and his father “appreciate the kind words.”

For now, one of streaming’s most influential voices will be offline, not for gaming, but for family.

Fellow creators such as Tectone gave their support to the award-winning MMORPG streamer, writing: “Your pa is a badass mf and you’re a great son for being there when he needs you.”

“Good Son. Prayers,” echoed Kick’s Head of Studios, Andrew Santamaria.

This isn’t the only time the streamer took a break due to his parents. Back in 2021, he went on hiatus after saving his mother from a fire caused by her oxygen tank igniting before extending his hiatus after she died a few weeks later.

SEC announces cross-border task force to combat fraud

by admin September 6, 2025

The Securities and Exchange Commission has formed a new cross-border task force to combat transnational fraud, including pump-and-dump schemes.

Summary

  • SEC says the task force will help combat transnational fraud, including market manipulation.
  • As well as companies, the task force will go after intermediaries and gatekeepers.

The United States Securities and Exchange Commission will take the fight against fraud to foreign-based companies with a new cross-border task force, the agency said in a press release.

The SEC’s Cross-Border Task Force, the securities watchdog said on Friday, will initially focus on investigating potential violations of U.S. federal securities laws by offshore companies. Areas of attention will include market manipulation, with the SEC noting aspects such as “pump-and-dump” schemes.

Regulators, including the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, have repeatedly advised investors and market participants, including those in the crypto space, to be cautious about potential pump-and-dump schemes.

Pump-and-dump schemes in crypto

Across the ecosystem, pump-and-dump scams involve thinly-traded altcoins and meme tokens, often by insiders or malicious actors that artificially inflate prices, heavily promote the projects or tokens before dumping on unsuspecting buyers.

Retail users are the biggest victims of the deceptive actions that precede collapses.

While investors must conduct due diligence and remain wary of hype, the SEC says its task force, aimed at strengthening and enhancing the Division of Enforcement’s efforts, will go after entities and individuals whose fraudulent activities harm U.S. investors.

In addition to pump-and-dump schemes, the task force will focus on gatekeepers, including auditors and underwriters, whose efforts make it possible for bad actors to access U.S. capital markets.

“We welcome companies from around the world seeking access to the U.S. capital markets,” SEC chair Paul Atkins said. “But we will not tolerate bad actors – whether companies, intermediaries, gatekeepers or exploitative traders – that attempt to use international borders to frustrate and avoid U.S. investor protections. This new task force will consolidate SEC investigative efforts and allow the SEC to use every available tool to combat transnational fraud.”

Staff across the agency will collaborate to support the initiative, Atkins added, with the Commission welcoming recommendations of other actions that can enhance protection for U.S. investors. The SEC chair said the regulator will weigh actions such as new disclosure guidance and necessary rule changes.

As controversies mount, Roblox announces heavy investment in AI and boasts astronomically high daily active users

by admin September 5, 2025

Roblox is investing heavily in AI to assist users with game development, while also increasing the amount of money they can earn.

The news comes as part of the Roblox Developers Conference, where the platform also unveiled its new TikTok-style Moments feed of short-form videos taken directly from Roblox games.

Roblox now boasts an average of over 111.8 million daily active users and 390 billion visits to its games. Last month Roblox had a record-breaking 45 million concurrent users – higher than Steam – and over the past year, creators have earned over $1bn.

Roblox is now rewarding its creators with an increase to its DevEx rate – essentially the exchange rate from Robux to real cash. This has now risen by 8.5 percent, meaning 100,000 Robux equals $380.

AI is also a major way Roblox is enabling smaller teams to develop games on the platform. “To achieve our mission of connecting a billion people, we need creators around the world building at massive scale,” the company said. It believes the majority of the top 1000 in-platform games were built by teams of, on average, fewer than 10 people.

In total, Roblox has 400 AI models in production. Its star product is 4D Objects, which it believes will overhaul UGC. Users will be able to create fully interactive scripted assets by a simple text prompt – for instance, generating a fully drivable and customised car.

Other AI products include text-to-speech and speech-to-text APIs, allowing creators to add dialogue to characters or command NPCs, and real-time voice chat translation (starting with English, Spanish, French, and German).

Roblox’s other major development is its Moments feed. This will allow users to capture and edit short clips from games and share to a scrollable feed. Roblox hopes this will aid discovery on the platform, with users able to jump straight into a game from these videos. It will soon be available in specific countries in beta form (but not the UK or Australia).

“For years, our users have been doing this off-platform, creating a massive presence with Roblox-related content garnering over 1 trillion video views on YouTube,” the company said. It’s understandable it would want to keep this engagement on the platform. It also follows the likes of Twitch, which similarly updated its mobile app with a Discovery Feed of clips – it’s clear the dominance of TikTok on social media is impacting many gaming platforms.

These developer updates from Roblox follow continued efforts from the company to improve safety, with Roblox expanding its age estimation requirement to all users of the platform who access its communication features by the end of the year.

These safety efforts follow years of concern, with multiple reports accusing Roblox of being unsafe for children.

Last month, Roblox responded to a lawsuit accusing the company of failing to protect children. “Any assertion that Roblox would intentionally put our users at risk of exploitation is simply untrue,” it wrote. “No system is perfect and bad actors adapt to evade detection, including efforts to take users to other platforms, where safety standards and moderation practices may differ. We continuously work to block those efforts and to enhance our moderation approaches to promote a safe and enjoyable environment for all users.”

ConcernedApe announces Stardew Valley 1.7 update is happening

by admin September 1, 2025

Stardew Valley isn’t going anywhere. ConcernedApe just announced he’s working on even more content for the mega-popular game, confirming a 1.7 update is indeed in the works.

Despite having been released over nine years ago now, Stardew Valley only grows more popular with each passing day. Just this July, it made history by becoming Steam’s top-rated game of all time.

While a full-fledged sequel has been considered, updates to the base game are what maintain and even grow the cozy game’s community. The occasional quality of life tweak is one thing, but for solo dev ConcernedApe, a new update means a whole lot more.

Article continues after ad

Following the release of the jam-packed 1.6 update, many assumed Stardew Valley was finished once and for all, but now we have confirmation that’s not the case. A 1.7 update is in the works and here’s what we know.

Stardew Valley 1.7 update confirmed

ConcernedApe took to the stage in Seattle, Washington, on August 30, 2025. This night kicked off the second Stardew Valley world tour for the Symphony of Seasons. It was here that he announced plans to continue supporting the game.

Article continues after ad

“I revealed this at the concert last night and now the cat’s out of the bag,” he later shared on X (formerly Twitter). “There will be a Stardew Valley 1.7 update. No release date, no estimate. But it’s happening.”

Okay, I revealed this at the concert last night and now the cat’s out of the bag, so I will confirm for everyone: There will be a Stardew Valley 1.7 update. No release date, no estimate. But it’s happening pic.twitter.com/RnNgc3ERER

— ConcernedApe (@ConcernedApe) August 30, 2025

Beyond mere confirmation, any other details are being kept close to the chest. There’s no quite telling just yet whether this update will introduce new areas, characters, items, secrets, and the like, or moreso focus on additional features and refinements.

Article continues after ad

If we were to hedge our bets, though, we’d bet the house on there being plenty of new content for long-time fans to get excited about.

When could the 1.7 update release for Stardew Valley?

As ConcernedApe made clear from the jump, there is no release date or even a rough release window at this point in time. The 1.7 update will simply be ready when it’s ready.

Given he works alone to this day, these things take time. From new music to pixel art and, of course, the coding itself, ConcernedApe is doing it all. Thus, it’d be safe to assume we’re still a ways out.

Article continues after ad

Article continues after ad

For context, below is a quick overview of when all the previous major Stardew Valley updates were released over the past decade.

Timeline of past Stardew Valley updates:

  • 1.0 – February 26, 2016
  • 1.1 – October 3, 2016
  • 1.2 – April 24, 2017
  • 1.3 – August 1, 2018
  • 1.4 – November 26, 2019
  • 1.5 – December 21, 2020
  • 1.6 – March 19, 2024

As you can see, the biggest gap yet was between 1.5 and the most recent update in 1.6. While we wouldn’t expect 1.7 to take another three and a bit years, it’d be wise not to hold your breath based on this trend.

However, it is worth noting that the game itself launched in full back in February 2016. Thus, February 26, 2026, marks the 10-year anniversary of Stardew Valley. There’s no guarantee, of course, but this would certainly be a great occasion to tease new details about the 1.7 update.

Article continues after ad

Will it impact ConcernedApe’s other game Haunted Chocolatier?

Like millions of fans, you might be wondering how the continued development of Stardew Valley might impact ConcernedApe’s next game, Haunted Chocolatier. We’ve known about the next game since 2021, with the dev confirming he’d been working on it from as early as 2020.

Article continues after ad

There’s still no release date in sight for Haunted Chocolatier, and with the 1.7 update now on the agenda too, it could hold it back even longer.

ConcernedApe was quick to assure fans on social media, that won’t be the case. “My plan is that this will not hinder Haunted Chocolatier development,” he said.

My plan is that this will not hinder Haunted Chocolatier development

— ConcernedApe (@ConcernedApe) August 30, 2025

The best laid plans can always change, of course, so do take the comment with a grain of salt for now. At the time of writing, there’s no quite telling when we might see either the 1.7 update or Haunted Chocolatier, but rest assured ConcernedApe is toiling away.

Art Installation Meow Wolf announces TTRPG with Exalted Funeral

by admin September 1, 2025

Meow Wolf and Exalted Funeral are collaborating on a tabletop RPG, with a Kickstarter schedule in 2026. This is a combination I never would have imagined, but my talk with EF founder Matt Kelley and designer Andrew Bellury ended up teaching me a lot about art, RPGs, and the nature of interactivity. I’ll be very interested in seeing how the details come together, and what kinds of stories this project inspires.

For those not in the know, Meow Wolf is a series of immersive interactive art exhibits. That description doesn’t really capture the dreamlike, entrancing nature of these enormous installations. Meow Wolf has locations in 5 cities with a 6th opening in Los Angeles next year and NYC in 2027. If you’re in more eastern United States, you might have attended Otherworld installations, similar in concept and inspired by Meow Wolf. These building-sized experiences allow visitors to explore immersive, interconnected worlds at their own pace. They don’t give you any maps or direction, but let you travel through surreal environments. Installations often feature hidden areas with new stories to uncover. They let individual artists run wild, spinning up ambitious worlds with their own aesthetics and feel.

Very little about the story is explicit. The scant documents tell you only broad generalities, your mind and experience filling in the rest. At first I was worried that this would make an RPG an impossible task; how can a designer translate a narrative that’s barely written down in the first place? The answer comes from the strengths inherent to roleplaying games. Strengths that books or movies cannot share. It all comes from the interactivity of the experience, and trust in the player to build their own narrative.

David Lynch used to talk a lot about the power of dreams, and the importance of leaving interpretation up to the individual. He would go so far as to refuse to elaborate on his specific ideas of what a particular story meant, or how he wanted his use of symbolism to be read. To him, that was a limitation and degradation of the story. To put it down into words would be to make it lesser, because the emotion and meaning he was trying to communicate was bigger and more fundamental than we could fit into the crude rules of language.

Meow Wolf and its upcoming adaptation are much the same. I often decry poor layout in RPG books because they use too much text to communicate too little. If a setting book is a long, detailed explanation of every bit of trade, geography, and politics, it becomes useless at the table. That gives you something to read, but not something you can parse and develop in front of a group of people. It’s a bad tool for practical purposes, but it also doesn’t give you room to fill in the gaps and syncopate with your own group. With that in mind, the Meow Wolf RPG won’t be as interested in the specific details of how Tavers got their ability and what each Meow Wolf exhibit means in hard terms. They do have a team of writers making the exhibits, each of which have their own story, but there is a deliberate uncertainty about how much is implied and how much is canon.

The concept of Tavers–interdimensional travelers who can open portals between worlds–is an emerging concept that bridges the existing exhibits with new storytelling possibilities, and gives the game its title. The team has shared documents and thoughts on their creations with Exalted Funeral, but the game will be its own beast in many ways. RPGs give more room to players as creators than linear narratives. The book or game is less than half the experience. That is just a framework for you, the players, to engage and create your own story.

This work wouldn’t be possible without the vision of Joe LaFavi of Genuine Entertainment. He has worked with Meow Wolf for a while, and knew there was some interest in a tabletop adaptation. After all, they were already artists with a long history of experiential works. With his eyes on the aesthetic and design talents of Exalted Funeral, who were already fans of MW installations, the two groups made a natural fit.

In hard terms, the result will be a book with its own system, likely with special editions and surprises coming during the Kickstarter campaign. Meow Wolf exhibits have space for events and while there are no promises of collaborative projects, the potential is there. The interest, I suspect, will be strong. This will be a story-driven game driven by d8s, in a classless system that offers character growth but not dense mechanics. At time of writing, they are in the heart of playtesting and refining the engine.

To keep your eyes on this project as it develops, you can sign up now at the Exalted Funeral website to get notified and see early peaks at future development.

4,600,000 Burned ETH Coming Back? Ethereum Community Foundation Announces BETH

by admin August 31, 2025

  • Details on new token
  • Why it’s questionable

The Ethereum community is agitated by a startling announcement: The Ethereum Community Foundation, which is not the same as the official Ethereum Foundation, has announced the release of BETH, a new token that will be used to represent ETH that has already been burned.

Details on new token

As stated by the group, BETH is a proof-of-burn token, meaning that each unit represents an equivalent quantity of ETH that has been verified to have been taken out of circulation, in accordance with EIP-1559 and other burn mechanisms. Accordingly, the 40.6 million ETH that have been burned since the London upgrade could now be reissued as BETH.

Ethereum Community Foundation announced the tokenization of burned ETH as BETH, creating a new proof-of-burn token. Each BETH represents ETH verified as removed from circulation, enabling transparent and auditable burn records. Ethereum co-founder and ConsenSys CEO Joseph Lubin…

— Wu Blockchain (@WuBlockchain) August 31, 2025

The goal is to offer a new class of tokens that recognizes the destruction of supply, while simultaneously producing an open, auditable ledger of burned coins. Although specifics are still unknown, the announcement also alluded to the launch of related tokens BBETH and BBBETH. ETH burning will become a highly profitable activity, according to Joseph Lubin, co-founder of Ethereum and CEO of ConsenSys, and BETH is a crucial step in formalizing that process.

Why it’s questionable

Although the idea has created excitement, there are also important concerns. The very idea behind burning coins, to permanently reduce supply, is undermined when they are tokenized. The narrative of ETH scarcity may wane if the community starts to view BETH as a complementary asset with speculative potential.

Furthermore, BETH’s value does not increase simply because it is associated with burned ETH. BETH is not inherently involved in Ethereum’s consensus staking or gas fee structure in contrast to ETH itself. It’s basically a derivative product with unknown long-term utility.

You Might Also Like

Ethereum Community Foundation is not the Ethereum Foundation, as stated in the announcement. Because it could affect BETH’s acceptance and legitimacy, this distinction is crucial. Without well-defined governance, practicality and consumer demand, BETH runs the risk of becoming more of an oddity than a game-changing invention.

Although tokenizing burned assets can bring transparency, it also raises paradoxes: Does representing destroyed value add value or simply lessen the act of burning itself? Until these issues are resolved, BETH should be used cautiously.
