There’s a new Nintendo Direct this Friday (and it’s just before a major Mario anniversary)

by admin September 11, 2025

There have been rumours circulating for a while, but now we have confirmation: Nintendo is hosting its next Nintendo Direct presentation this week.

Per the platform holder, the stream will be broadcast online on Friday, 12th September at 2pm BST (that’s 9am ET or 6am PT, 3pm CEST if you’re in Europe).

The show will run for 60 minutes (which is quite long for a Direct these days!) and promises to include updates and releases for both Switch and Switch 2.

It’s actually quite peculiar timing for Nintendo: we’ve had a general Direct on 31st July, and then another specifically dedicated to Kirby Air Riders, too, on 19th August. This is quite close concentration for these events (no that I’m complaining).

It is not year clear what the showcase will present, though it is worth noting there is a very substantial anniversary coming up as the world gets ready to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros (which takes place on Saturday). Will we see anything special to mark the occaision? Will get get a second year of Luigi? Will Waluigi ever be let out of whatever cage he’s been crammed in? Only time will tell.

Outside of Mario, everyone is hoping for a release date of Metroid Prime 4 Beyond – after all the nonsense we’ve seen about the game in the past few months, you’d hope Nintendo is actually finally ready to pull the trigger and release the damn game.

We’ll find out more on Friday. What are you hoping to see?

This is a news-in-brief story. This is part of our vision to bring you all the big news as part of a daily live report.

Genshin Impact is teaming up with Among Us to celebrate its fifth anniversary

by admin September 10, 2025

Today is a big one in the world of Genshin Impact. The long-awaited Version Luna 1 update – formerly known as version 6.0 – has arrived, bringing with it the game’s seventh major region, Nod-Krai.

But that’s not the only thing worth getting out of bed for, because Genshin is also celebrating its fifth anniversary with a whole lot of community content, and an unexpected collaboration.

MiHoYo announced that it’s celebrating the release of Version Luna 1, and the game’s fifth anniversary, with a number of events, both in-game and outside of it. The biggest one, of course, is the special collaboration with Among Us.

Available from September 10 to October 10, this particular event lets you unlock Paimon Cosmetic Set for free in Among Us, simply by logging into the game. The set comes with the Paimon Wig, Paimon Costume and a Crest of the Best Travel Companion Nameplate – all of which are available to use in Among Us.

It’s a little strange that you don’t get anything in Genshin Impact as part of that collaboration, but there are plenty of freebies you’ll be earning on that side of the aisle simply by logging in. Some of the rewards include a free 5-Star character from the Standard Wish Pool, as well as enough ascension materials to get it to level 60. Starting now, you’ll also receive ten Intertwined Fates, 1,600 Primogems, two special Nod-Krai-themed gadgets (in the mail), and more.

Watch on YouTube

The celebrations also extend to some community events, which include a new HoYoFair Genshin Impact Fan Art Special Program. This two-hour show will feature plenty of content from fans and MiHoYo, and it’s set to air on September 20.

In case you missed it, Version Luna 1 is a significant update for Genshin Impact, adding a lot more than the new playable area, new characters, new story chapter, and new mechanics. It also comes with changes to some of the game’s systems to make for a smoother levelling experience.

If you’re planning to jump in today, be sure to check out our guide that’ll help you learn all the ways to get to Nod-Krai, and don’t forget to browse the list of our most updated Genshin Impact codes.

Starfield marks two year anniversary with a secret message

by admin September 7, 2025

Bethesda has hidden a secret message in a social media post ostensibly marking Starfield’s second anniversary.

It’s only 12 seconds long, and starts pretty much as you’d expect, but halfway through the video teaser, the music and visuals are interrupted, the black/blue palette is replaced by yellow and brown, and we see snippets of black text and a secret message.

Starfield is packed full of Easter Eggs, if you didn’t know.Watch on YouTube

Thanks to some keen-eyed Starfield fans, somebody’s already pieced together the clues and shared that message with us: “Terran Armada”.

While we don’t yet know what Terran Armada is, let alone when it’ll release, fans are positing it’s possibly the name of the next DLC or expansion, and are already sharing on the Starfield subreddit what’s top of their wishlist.

DLC2 is titled “Terran Armada”.

“Yeah, this is interesting because ‘Terran’ when used in the correct context can only mean ‘of Terra’ or ‘from earth’,” suggested one player. “Looks like our planet might be more than it seems in Starfeild. With the rumors of a Starborn DLC or update I wonder if a bunch of Starborn resettled the earth in secret or something?”

“I’m just happy to have something to speculate and theorize on again since that has been one of the most fun parts of gaming releases since [I] was a kid,” said someone else.

Hopefully, Bethesda won’t leave us hanging for long and will confirm what’s coming sooner rather than later – we’ll keep you posted.

Last month, Bethesda teased an upcoming update for Starfield would improve space travel following a datamine that discovered hints of an overhauled “cruise mode”. After a hasty patch removed hints of the cruise mode from the files, Bethesda has since come forward with its hands up and admitted that yes, cruise mode is real and is on the way somewhat soon.

Star Trucker’s anniversary update adds wheel and joystick support to the space lorry sim, plus speed cameras

by admin September 5, 2025

Star Trucker, Raw Fury’s answer to what Euro Truck Simulator might look like in the year 3000, is now a year old, and has celebrated that fact with an update that finally lets you whip out your wheel and pedals.

Ever since I gave it a go with a controller prior to letting my Game Pass subscription crumble into dust, this is a day I’ve yearned for. After all, what good are truck sims, be they Euro, American or something more Snowrunnery, if you’re not operating the controls of your great metal haulage beast by flicking flappy gearbox paddles, or sawing away at a circle clearly designed for something a bit sportier?

That’s what this anniversary update for the interstellar hauler delivers, with wheels like the Thrustmaster T128 and flight sticks like VKB’s Gladiator NXT EVO being early additions to the devs’ handy tracking sheet of tested peripherals. There’s also a guide and FAQ rundown from Raw Fury to help folks get their hardware up, running, and fully bound to all the inputs space trucking requires.

Gear recognised by the game should set itself up with default bindings automatically, but I usually find creating my own basic set of essential buttons not that time-consuming, as long as the game wants to acknowledge your wheel exists. Just remember to bind a pause button, and stick the handbrake somewhere your finger can easily hold it when you want to see if your rig can finish a delivery with a 10/10 skid.

As a counterweight to all the wheel and pedal lorry mischief I planned the minute I clocked this update, it also comes with new speed checks. Yep, cameras, fines, the works. These camera checkpoints along the trails of the galaxy will even show you what speed you’re doing as you pass them, though the notes don’t mention if you get shown a little smiley face for not blasting through a Jupiter school zone at 120mph. You can also disable these checks via the settings, if the threat of having to attend a speeding course with the crowd from the Mos Eisley cantina is just too much.

Aside from that, there are a couple of updates to trailers, and a couple of optional truck goodies to commemorate the game’s first birthday. The latter includes a hologrammatic image of a cake you can display in your cab. Just remember to eat plenty before your next long haul.

If you’ve not given Star Trucker a go, our Nic dubbed it “a game that’s much more about the ‘trucker’ of it all than the stars, but the trucker of it all really does shine” in his review, writing:

When you exit the airlock to patch up hull breaches, little white spanner icons mark the offending damage. The symbol that marks the airlock to return to your truck is a home. I noticed it early, and then I kept noticing it. The more I did, the more perfect it felt.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to oversteer that home into an asteroid belt.

Kojima Productions to celebrate 10th anniversary this month with "glimpse into future projects"

Kojima Productions to celebrate 10th anniversary this month with “glimpse into future projects”

by admin September 1, 2025

Kojima Productions has announced a 10th anniversary celebration to be held in Japan, which promises guest appearances and “a glimpse into future projects”.

The studio unveiled the event today, on the 10th anniversary of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, which doesn’t seem coincidental.

The Kojima Productions Beyond The Strand event will take place on 23rd September at a cinema in Tokyo, but it doesn’t appear to be screened elsewhere. Hideo Kojima himself will host the event.

12 Things You NEED To Do First In Death Stranding 2 – BEGINNERS TIPSWatch on YouTube

Still, keep that date in your diaries if you’re interested to know what’s coming next from the studio.

Perhaps we’ll see something on OD, Kojima’s Xbox horror game first announced back in 2023? In a recent interview, Kojima stated OD was “something totally different” and people will either “love it or hate it”.

Or perhaps we’ll see a first look at Physint, Kojima’s return to the action-espionage genre he popularised with the Metal Gear Solid games. Then again, he recently stated it’s early enough in development he’s still working on it by himself.

Just don’t expect Death Stranding 3 – Kojima confirmed he has a concept for a sequel, but won’t be making it himself.

If you’re in Japan, you can find details of the anniversary event on the Kojima Productions website.

This is a news-in-brief story. This is part of our vision to bring you all the big news as part of a daily live report.

The Division 2 kicks off 10th anniversary year with The Division 2: Survivors, “an updated take on the survival extraction experience”

by admin August 23, 2025

The Division 2: Survivors is “an updated take on the survival extraction experience” coming to The Division 2.

At a panel at Gamescom, the company confirmed that though development is currently “in the early stages” under the watchful eye of creative director and “veteran of the Division from the early days of the original game”, Magnus Jansén, the team is keen to involve the community from the off.

“The Division 2: Survivors is as much your baby as it is ours, and we strive for transparency during its development. Clear communication and community involvement are a focus as we build the new experience, and we will be closely involving you as we move forward on the development journey,” said executive producer, Julian Gerighty.

There was no in-game artwork or screenshots to share, but Ubisoft did reveal a handful of concept art pieces, which you can see below.

We don’t quite know when to expect it – it’s still labelled as TBA for now – but we did get a little update on what else players can expect over the course of this year and next:

Interested in trying before you buy and maybe giving a little feedback as you go? Ubisoft is looking to refresh its Elite Task Program, so sign up now if you’re a “committed player [looking] to engage directly with the development team and assist in guiding the future of the Division”.

The Division Resurgence – the free-to-play mobile RPG shooter that picks up a few months after the events of the original game – is also looking for participants for closed tests on both iOS and Android. Ubisoft says it offers “the same gameplay experience as the Division games adapted to mobile gaming”, and “with a familiar map updated to reflect the passage of time, the Division Resurgence will bridge the narrative gap between the Division 1 and 2, adding to the existing lore with additional story beats over time.”

Scott Pilgrim 20th Anniversary Box Set With PS2-Inspired Case Gets $150 Price Cut

by admin August 23, 2025

Scott Pilgrim 20th Anniversary Graphic Novel Box Sets are on sale for 60% off at Amazon. Fans of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s superb series can get the remastered full-color or black-and-white collector’s edition set for only $100 (was $250). The full-color edition is temporarily out of stock, but Amazon is still letting customers purchase the deal (for now).

Both of these deals are shipped and sold by Amazon. If you’re interested in the full-color version, you probably should pick it up soon. Amazon often turns off the ability to buy out-of-stock products. There are a bunch of reseller listings on Amazon for these collections, but with such a pricey set, it’s wise to ensure it ships from Amazon, just in case you have an issue when it arrives.

The 20th Anniversary Box Sets were revealed back in 2023 and released at Amazon and select bookstores in the US last August. Barnes & Noble is still charging $200 for the color edition and the full $250 for the black-and-white set.

Scott Pilgrim 20th Anniversary Box Sets:

  • Available in full-color or black-and-white
  • All 6 Volumes of Scott Pilgrim, redesigned with new artwork by Bryan Lee O’Malley
  • Clamshell Collector’s Box with new artwork by Bryan Lee O’Malley
  • “Making of Scott Pilgrim” comics compilation and other comics
  • Collectible sticker sheet
  • Mystery collectibles from the world of Scott Pilgrim

Scott Pilgrim 20th Anniversary Graphic Novel Box Sets

More Graphic Novels by Bryan Lee O’Malley

If you love Scott Pilgrim, we highly recommend checking out O’Malley’s other two graphic novels. Notably, you can get the hardcover edition of Seconds: A Graphic Novel for only $13.55 (was $30). Written and illustrated by O’Malley, Seconds was a No. 1 New York Times Bestseller in 2014. Another great one to check out is Lost at Sea, which O’Malley wrote before Scott Pilgrim. It was published months before Scott Pilgrim’s debut. Lost at Sea’s 10th Anniversary Edition is available for $18 (was $25) in hardcover.

To help you compare Scott Pilgrim’s 20th Anniversary Box Sets to other editions, we rounded up all of the Scott Pilgrim hardcover, paperback, compendium, and box sets Oni Press has published over the years. We focused solely on Scott Pilgrim editions that are still in print and readily available for retail price or less.

Scott Pilgrim: Color Collection Paperback Compendiums

In 2019, Oni Press published the Color Editions as paperback compendiums with two volumes each. The Color Collection is in print today, but the slipcase box set edition is only available from resellers. All three compendiums would cost you roughly $72 (was $90) right now.

  1. Vol. 1-2 (368 pages) — $17.69 ($30)
  2. Vol. 3-4 (414 pages) — $24.22 ($30)
  3. Vol. 5-6 (430 pages) — $30

Scott Pilgrim: Precious Little Slipcase Collection (B&W)

Scott Pilgrim Precious Little Slipcase Collection

If you’d like to read Scott Pilgrim’s black-and-white editions in their original format, the Precious Little Slipcase Collection is a great choice. Oni Press published this box set way back in 2010, but it has remained in print ever since. This one pairs well with the 20th Anniversary Color Edition Box Set, because it’s cool to compare O’Malley’s original pencil sketches to the remastered Color Editions. This set comes with an awesome slipcase with exclusive case art and an exclusive poster.

Scott Pilgrim’s original black-and-white digests are still in print and retail for $15 each. With Amazon’s current prices, all six volumes would cost you about 10 bucks more than the Precious Little Slipcase Collection.

Scott Pilgrim B&W Editions (Paperback)

  1. Precious Little Life (168 pages) — $12.49 ($15)
  2. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (200 pages) — $10 ($15)
  3. Scott Pilgrim & the Infinite Sadness (192 pages) — $12 ($15)
  4. Scott Pilgrim Gets It Together (216 pages) — $15
  5. Scott Pilgrim vs. the Universe (184 pages) — $6.81 ($15)
  6. Scott Pilgrim’s Finest Hour (248 pages) — $10.46 ($15)

Scott Pilgrim Print Collection (2004-2024)

Scott Pilgrim Print Collection 2020-2024

Shortly after publishing the 20th Anniversary Box Sets last year, Oni Press released the Scott Pilgrim Print Collection 2004-2024. This commemorative collection includes 21 full-color art prints measuring 9 x 12 inches each. All of the illustrations are printed on cardstock and are designed to be displayed with or without frames. Amazon has the Scott Pilgrim Print Collection for $23 (was $30).

$16.36 (was $25)

Scott Pilgrim’s 2010 movie adaptation is available for cheap on 4K Blu-ray, 1080p Blu-ray, and DVD.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World Editions:

Like the graphic novels, Scott Pilgrim tells the tale of Scott and his quest to win the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers. The only problem? Her seven Evil Exes, former partners of Ramona, who stand in his way. Along the way, both Scott and Ramona come to terms with their past as their relationship grows stronger and they become more mature.

As usual, the source material is better, but Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is a really well-made adaptation that captures the tone and aesthetic of O’Malley’s series. Directed by Edgar Wright with Michael Cera in the lead role, the 2010 movie has spectacular visual effects and cinematography. It’s one of the best examples of a movie that genuinely feels like you’re flipping through the pages of a comic book. There’s nothing quite like it, which also sort of explains why it performed so poorly at the box office.

The film has garnered a dedicated fan base over the years, and the same could be said about the tie-in beat-’em-up video game that released the same day as the movie. After the game was delisted in 2014, an outpouring of support from fans undoubtedly helped make the 2021 Complete Edition for modern platforms a reality.

Most recently, Scott Pilgrim was adapted into an animated Netflix series. Scott Pilgrim Takes Off tells a different story than the graphic novels and movie adaptation, but all of the actors in the movie voiced their characters in the show. The series was co-developed and co-written by Bryan Lee O’Malley. As a Netflix original, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off isn’t available on Blu-ray.
