Anchorage Digital boosts Solana DeFi with Jupiter integration

by admin September 30, 2025

Jupiter, the decentralized exchange and liquidity aggregator on Solana, has integrated with Anchorage Digital’s institutional-grade wallet Porto, a move that could accelerate the institutional access to Solana’s decentralized finance ecosystem.

Summary

  • Anchorage Digital has announced integration with Jupiter as it eyes institutional access to decentralized finance on Solana.
  • The crypto bank has added native support for Jupiter, making it accessible via Anchorage’s self-custody wallet Porto.
  • Solana’s DeFi ecosystem has grown amid traction for protocols like the Jupiter DEX platform.

Anchorage Digital, a leading crypto bank and digital assets platform, revealed the integration on Tuesday, noting it will add institutional access to Solana via Jupiter.

Specifically, Anchorage is adding support for Solana DeFi through its self-custody wallet, Porto. Native integration of Solana’s top DEX platform with the Porto wallet will allow institutional investors direct access to decentralized finance applications in the Solana (SOL) ecosystem.

Why does this matter?

Porto support addresses challenges that have slowed institutional traction for DeFi on the SOL network. Having access to a leading liquidity aggregator and optimal trade-execution platform is a big plus for users as they navigate security and complex operational processes, Anchorage noted.

“We believe that true institutional adoption of DeFi requires foundational infrastructure that meets the highest standards of security and compliance,” said Nathan McCauley, the co-founder and chief executive officer of Anchorage Digital. “Our native integration with Jupiter is a critical step in building that foundation on Solana. This isn’t just about a new feature; it’s about providing the market with the robust, secure on-ramps needed to participate in the next wave of financial innovation.”

Jupiter and Solana DeFi ecosystem

The Jupiter (JUP) exchange’s DEX ecosystem dominates the Solana market. The platform offers access to swaps, lending, mobile trading, perpetuals, portfolio management, and token launches.

Jupiter Lend, which went recently went live in public beta, offers access to money markets on Solana. Users can access key features such as highest loan-to-value ratios, lowest liquidation penalties and high annual percentage yields.

“Our goal at Jupiter has always been to build the best suite of DeFi tools and bring them to the world. This partnership with Anchorage Digital is a major step in that direction,” said Kash Dhanda, chief operating officer of Jupiter. “By bringing our best in class trading infra to their best in class Porto platform, we’re providing a secure, trusted gateway for institutions to access DeFi, helping to define the future of finance.”

Meanwhile, Solana has recently recorded rapid growth in demand for SOL-related investments, with data showing the cryptocurrency attracted over $291 million in inflows into Solana exchange-traded products.

CoinShares’ latest weekly report indicated that Solana ETPs have accumulated nearly $1.9 billion in inflows year to date, outpacing sector behemoths Bitcoin and Ethereum. Analysts say the impending approval of Solana spot exchange-traded funds will accelerate this growth.

DeFiLlama data show more than $29 billion in total value locked is currently in Solana protocols, with over $3.86 billion in TVL on Jupiter.

Anchorage Digital Applies for Fed Master Account

by admin September 20, 2025

Anchorage Digital, the first crypto bank in the United States to receive a national trust bank charter from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), has applied for a master account with the Federal Reserve. If approved, the company will not have to rely on intermediaries anymore to access the U.S. central banking system and the Automated Clearing House (ACH) Network, leading to a federal validation status as well as cost efficiency.

The company filed its application on August 28, signaling its intention to streamline how digital assets connect with traditional finance. By eliminating the need for third-party banks, the direct access would lead Anchorage to reducing fees, settlement times, and operational complexity. Just as important, the federal recognition could strengthen client confidence, attract larger institutional partners, and legitimize crypto banking within the U.S. financial system.

The bigger picture

The application follows an important sequence of past events. In 2022, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) placed Anchorage under a consent order after finding weaknesses in its anti-money laundering (AML) program. After three years of oversight, regulators determined the issues had been resolved and lifted the order in August 2025. With that compliance cleared, Anchorage now presents itself as fully aligned with federal standards and prepared to scale its services.

Anchorage’s strategy mirrors a broader trend in the industry. Ripple filed for a national bank charter in July, while stablecoin issuers Circle and Paxos are also pursuing federal-level approvals. These efforts underline that major digital asset firms are seeking direct access to U.S. payment systems to lower reliance on intermediaries and improve operational efficiency, as well as national recognition.

Efficiency and regulation

Anchorage Digital’s application for a Federal Reserve master account aims to enhance its position after resolving past compliance issues and securing federal validation. By seeking to cut costs and settlement times while aligning with national standards, the firm joins Ripple, Circle, and Paxos in testing how far crypto institutions can integrate into the U.S. financial system, a strategy attempted before but now backed by clearer regulatory progress.

OCC Cites ‘Safety and Soundness’ for Crypto Bank Anchorage in Pulling Consent Order

by admin August 24, 2025

In brief

  • The OCC terminated its consent order on digital assets bank Anchorage Digital.
  • The regulator brought the order in 2022 after granting conditional approval to Anchorage in 2021.
  • Federally chartered Anchorage custodies some of the BTC and ETH held in BlackRock’s spot ETFs.

The Office of the Comptroller of Currency (OCC) announced Thursday that it has terminated its cease and desist consent order against Anchorage Digital.

The regulator first issued a consent order to Anchorage, a federally chartered digital asset bank, in 2022 due to its “failure to adopt and implement a compliance program” that satisfactorily covered the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering (AML) requirements.

“The OCC believes that the safety and soundness of the bank and its compliance with laws and regulations does not require the continued existence of the order,” the termination order reads.

Anchorage Digital received conditional approval from the OCC in 2021, allowing it to offer crypto custody services to its customers and making it the first federally chartered bank to custody digital assets. After demonstrating the appropriate compliance, the consent order has now been terminated.

“When we applied for that charter, we knew what we were signing up for: the path forward was uncharted for any crypto company, and at the time, many in our industry—and most of Washington—felt that digital assets and regulation were like oil and water,” said Anchorage co-founder and CEO Nathan McCauley in a statement Thursday.

“We embarked on that path not because it was easy, but because we knew it was the right long-term move for the industry—laying the foundation for trust, safety, and durability in the years ahead,” he added. “And in an industry intent on ‘going to the moon,’ the seeming impossibility of our federal charter mission lit a fire under us from the start.”

The South Dakota-based firm specializes in custody, staking, trading, and governance for its members. In April, BlackRock chose Anchorage to custody some of the Bitcoin and Ethereum held for the asset manager’s industry-leading spot ETFs.

In May, the OCC affirmed that national banks it oversees can buy, sell, and manage any crypto assets in their custody. Since that time, stablecoin issuer Circle as well as Ripple and Paxos have applied for charters that would make them nationally regulated banks.

U.S. Banking Regulator OCC Lifts Enforcement Order From Anchorage Digital

by admin August 21, 2025

Anchorage Digital has moved out from under its U.S. banking regulator’s order that it institute a compliance program to protect against money-laundering abuses, with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) announcing the removal of the cease-and-desist order originally issued in 2022.

“The OCC believes that the safety and soundness of the bank and its compliance with laws and regulations does not require the continued existence of the order,” it said in the termination announced on Thursday.

Anchorage Digital CEO Nathan McCauley, who has emerged as a high-profile representative of crypto interests in Washington, framed the enforcement action as regulatory “feedback” in celebrating its removal.

“We received — and have now resolved — feedback from regulators as we set the standard for federally chartered custody of digital assets,” he said in a Thursday missive on the company’s website, in which he called Anchorage Digital “the world’s most regulated digital asset bank.”

The OCC and other U.S. banking regulators have, since the start of President Donald Trump’s second administration, sought to relax constraints on crypto industry businesses. New OCC chief Jonathan Gould, who was sworn in last month, was an agency veteran who has also worked in the private sector as chief legal officer for Bitfury.

Anchorage Digital was the first crypto bank to win a full-fledged banking charter from the agency that regulates national banks, and after it did so, that window had closed for a time as the regulators during President Joe Biden’s tenure viewed the industry with more suspicion.

More recently, digital assets issuers including Circle, Ripple and Paxos have again started applying to the OCC to start the bank-charter process.
