Retired Lego Bowser Muscle Car Is Only $24 At Amazon, Sold Out Everywhere Else

by admin August 18, 2025

Amazon has restocked the newly retired Lego Super Mario: Bowser’s Muscle Car. The popular 458-piece building set was first listed for retirement by Lego alongside two other Super Mario Lego products back in May. Since then, all other major retailers have run out of units. Notably, Amazon is also offering a discount on Bowser’s Muscle Car, dropping the price back down to $24 (was $30). Amazon had been charging full price in recent weeks, so this may be your last chance to buy this awesome little Lego Super Mario set for a bargain price.

Lego Super Mario: Bowser’s Muscle Car (71431)

Bowser’s Muscle Car is no longer part of Lego’s “Retiring Soon” page, so it is officially retired and won’t be returning to the Lego Store. Two other Lego Super Mario sets will soon disappear as well: the 598-piece Soda Jungle Maker Set (71434) and the 173-piece Goomba’s Playground (71433). Both of these sets remain in stock at a couple of retailers, with Amazon and Target having the best deals on both. Relatedly, Amazon is the only retailer with all four of the retired Lego Super Mario: Donkey Kong sets in stock.

$23.95 (was $30)

Bowser’s Muscle Car is a 458-piece build that is technically considered a Lego Super Mario expansion playset, but it doubles as an awesome and very affordable display set for fans of the iconic villain. The brick-built Bowser figure can stand and be displayed on his own or behind the wheel of his signature ride from Super Mario 3D World.

The unique purple and yellow car is 6 inches long, 4 inches wide, and 2.5 inches tall. It comes with a pair of bomb accessories to lob at your Interactive Lego Mario, Luigi, and Peach figures. If one of your Interactive Lego Mario figures manages to steal the vehicle, the Action Tag in the driver’s seat triggers unique sound effects and reactions. But keep in mind, those interactive elements are only possible if you own one of the electronic figures from the starter sets.

Bowser’s Muscle Car’s retirement is probably at least partially related to the new Lego Mario Kart: Bowser’s Castle set that launched August 1. The $100, 1,068-piece playset features Bowser and Yoshi with karts for each character. The King Koopa figure is the same one included with Bowser’s Muscle Car.

Lego Mario Kart Playsets:

If you want to build other characters and karts for Bowser to race in his muscle car, here’s a list of the currently available Lego Mario Kart sets. Just know that’s the muscle car is larger than the karts.

Lego Super Mario Starter Courses:

If you need one of the Interactive Lego Super Mario figures, check out the deals on the Adventures with Mario Starter Sets below. Lego launched an Interactive Lego Mario Kart Starter Set on August 1 for $55, but you can get last year’s starter sets for around $40 each at Amazon.

$41 (was $55)

The Soda Jungle Maker Set offers a bunch of unique components that can be used to add some colorful variety to your Lego Mario courses. This is one of the coolest expansion sets that focuses on a collection of smaller builds rather than one centerpiece item. Soda Jungle Maker has been on sale for as low as $35, but at the moment it’s $41.

The 598-piece set comes a trio of Lego Mario figures, all of whom are part of Bowser’s crew: Piranha Plant, Wiggler, and Pink Shy Guy. Along with the figures, you’ll piece together various environmental trappings from New Super Mario Bros. U’s Soda Jungle world. Notable accessories include a Special Pipe and the Customization Machine, which is paired with two Question Blocks and interacts with the Lego Mario starter set figures. Multiple other Action Tags are scattered throughout, making this a great choice for youngsters who enjoy building and playing Mario levels in Lego form.

If you love Piranha Plants, check out the 540-piece Lego Super Mario Piranha Plant. This is one of a handful of Lego’s Nintendo-themed display models for adults, and you can save 20% at Amazon.

$11.24 (was $15)

Goombas’ Playground is the smallest of the three newly retired Lego Super Mario building sets. This 173-piece build comes with three Goombas, each of which has a different facial expression, along with a seesaw and hollow tree trunk with perches. You can snag this $15 kit for $11.24 while supplies last.

Nintendo fans have a very exciting upcoming Lego set to add to their holiday wishlists. On October 1, Lego will release a near 1:1 replica of the original Game Boy. The 421-piece display model for adults comes with two buildable game cartridges, three lenticular screens, and a pair of stands to display your Game Boy and one of the game carts–the other game can be stored in the handheld’s cartridge slot. Preorders have sold out at multiple retailers, but you can currently order the Lego Game Boy at a few stores, including Amazon and Walmart, for $60.

Dune Lego Set Restocked At Amazon With Big Discount

by admin August 18, 2025

After selling out earlier this summer, Amazon has restocked the Lego Icons display model based on the Royal Ornithopter from Denis Villeneuve’s Dune adaptation series. The Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter Lego set is on sale for $134 (was $165). This deal is also available at Target, but the set remains sold out at Walmart. The 1,369-piece Lego Icons building set for adults and collectors launched last year to celebrate the theatrical release of Dune: Part Two.

$134 (was $165)

The Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter is a faithful, 1,369-piece replica of the cool helicopter-inspired aircraft. Due to its large wings, the completed build can measure up to 9 inches tall, 22 inches long, and 31 inches wide. It’s closer to 6 inches tall when the wings posable wings are retracted. It also has a movable landing gear and retractable boarding ramp.

Along with the large Ornithopter replica, the Lego Dune set includes eight minifigures:

  • Paul Atreides
  • Lady Jessica
  • Gurney Halleck
  • Chani
  • Leto Atreides
  • Liet Kynes
  • Duncan Idaho
  • Baron Harkonnen (complete with his long robe)

The Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter is designed as a display piece for adults, so consider finding a cozy corner in your game room or home theater to show it off. Of course, younger builds can always use it as a playset (thanks to its interactive features and multiple minifigures), but the gigantic vehicle is probably better off as a piece of home décor.

If you want some background noise while building, the Dune 2-Film 4K Collection is available for a nice discount. And if you want to learn about Ornithopters from the man who created them, Amazon has a terrific deal on the Dune 3-Book Deluxe Hardcover Box Set.

Amazon also has a fantastic deal on the Lego Marvel: Infinity Gauntlet that drops the price from $80 to only $46.58. Lego enthusiasts can also save onthe Back to the Future DeLorean Time Machine, multiple Star Wars sets, and more. Check out a list of our favorite Lego set deals for adults below. Note: Several of the sets below aren’t technically in Lego’s “black box” series for adults, but they double as build-and-display models nonetheless.

31 Best Early Amazon Prime Day Deals On Products We Tested (2025)

by admin June 26, 2025

Amazon Prime Day 2025 is fast approaching, and the sale is already underway on some items. To help you find the best early Prime Day deals, we’ve scoured Amazon for deals on the tech we love. As always, every deal we recommend here is on a product our reviewers have personally tested and approved—you won’t find any shoddy dupes or mystery brands here.

This year Prime Day runs for four days, July 8-11, rather than the usual two. That means there’s twice as long to suffer save. Twice as long to score a great deal on a new Amazon Fire Tablet, some AirPods, or a KitchenAid stand mixer.

Be sure to read our explainer on all the Amazon Prime perks you should be taking advantage of.

WIRED Featured Deals

Amazon Device Deals

Photograph: Simon Hill

Amazon’s Eero Pro 6E (7/10, WIRED Recommends) is a tri-band mesh that adds the 6-GHz band to the familiar 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz bands. If you have a 1 Gbps or faster connection and lots of devices, this is a great mesh system for you. It performed extremely well in our tests, though the 6-Ghz band is short-range.

Photograph: Amazon

This deal is for the Fire Max 11 (5/10, WIRED Review) bundle, with keyboard. The Fire Max 11 is Amazon’s nicest Fire tablet, but if you’re thinking of doing work, keep in mind that Google’s various office apps won’t work. If you don’t need those, this is a serviceable tablet. The screen is bright and sharp enough, the speakers aren’t bad, and the cameras are 1080p.

Amazon

Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Generation)

If you tend to watch a ton of Amazon Prime content, get the Fire TV Stick 4K Max. It heavily promotes Prime content, though you do have access to other services. It has 16 gigabytes of storage, which should be enough for all your streaming apps and games. You can pull up your security camera feed and ask Alexa to do things, like order your pizza.

Photograph: Michael Melia/Alamy

Easily the best audiobook service, Amazon’s Audible Premium Plus gives you access to a library of Audible Originals, audiobooks, and podcasts, one credit per month to use on any audiobook title you fancy, and regular exclusive deals and discounts. Prime members can have three months for free right now (one month for non-Prime members), after which it costs $15 per month.

It may not be the best music streaming service, but Amazon Music Unlimited earned an honorable mention in our guide. Four months of free service for Prime members (three months for non-Prime members) will be enough to tempt some folks to try it.

Apple Prime Day Deals

The iPad (A16) (8/10, WIRED Recommends) has a USB-C port, a Touch ID sensor integrated into the power button, a 12-megapixel rear camera, and a 12-MP selfie camera in landscape mode (with support for Center Stage). You also get 5G on the cellular model. The A16 chip is the same one in the iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 15, and iPhone 15 Plus. It’s plenty powerful, but there’s not enough RAM to support Apple Intelligence, making it the only iPad in the lineup without access to Apple’s artificial intelligence features (possibly a feature depending on your stance on AI).

Apple

MacBook Air (M4, 2025)

Would it surprise you to know that this is the laptop I am typing on right now? Probably not. The Air is one of the most popular laptops around and for good reason. You get a powerful, portable laptop with outstanding battery life for under a grand. If your workload is graphics-intensive, you might want to go for the 14- or 16-inch MacBook Pro, but for the rest of us the Air is the Apple laptop to get.

Photograph: Christopher Null

Apple

AirPods Pro 2 (With USB-C)

Apple’s latest AirPods Pro (8/10, WIRED Recommends) are ubiquitous for good reason. They’ve now got USB-C in the charging case, and this latest version sounds better than ever before. They have an IP54 sweat- and dust-resistance rating, and the noise-canceling is top-tier. Pair that with six hours of juice and a case with a speaker to help use Apple’s “Find My” feature, and you have a winning combo.

Photograph: Apple

The Watch Series 10 (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is the best Apple Watch for most people. It does not have blood oxygen sensing, which is truly preposterous given that almost every other fitness tracker on the planet has it, but it can tell if you have sleep apnea, which otherwise requires a disruptive sleep test to diagnose. The Series 10 is thinner and lighter, so it’s more comfortable to wear while sleeping, and it has fast charging, so it can track more of your activities during the day.

Photograph: Apple

The gateway drug of Apple Watches, the entry-level SE is a compelling deal. It doesn’t have the latest standout health features, but it’s compatible with watchOS 11, so you’ll be able to take advantage of the new Vitals app, and it has the S8 chip, which offers support for features like Crash Detection. It remains the best Apple Watch for the money.

Photograph: Beats

The Beats Flex are the best headphones for Apple users under $100. They feature quick pairing, easy access to Siri, and seamless Apple Music integration, thanks to Apple’s W1 chip, which ensures a rock-solid wireless connection to iOS devices. We were able to get 12-hour-plus battery life, which is good enough for a few workdays of tunes between trips to the wall charger.

Photograph: Simon Hill

Anker

MagGo Power Bank for Apple Watch

For those overnight trips it’s nice to have a power bank capable of charging up your Apple Watch. This Anker power bank has a handy pop-up Apple Watch charger that can deliver 5 watts and supports Nightstand mode. It also has a built-in USB-C cable and a USB-C port, so you can deliver up to 30 watts to your phone or another small device.

Tech Deals

Asus

Vivobook 14 (X1407QA)

Our favorite budget laptop, the Asus Vivobook 14 (6/10, WIRED Recommended) features an entry-level Snapdragon X processor with excellent battery life. This combo features a 512 GB SSD and 16 GB of memory. The Vivobook 14 is otherwise a fairly basic laptop—on the thicker side, and the display is dim with not-so-great color. Still, especially on sale, this is a solid budget laptop.

Photograph: Linksys

This Wi-Fi 7 mesh router offers expansive coverage and it very fast on all bands. You get a good selection of multi-gig Ethernet ports and it’s easy to set up and use. The downside is the price, but this deal helps out with that. You’ll need a HomeShield Pro subscription for online protection and full parental controls.

Photograph: Simon Hill

This little power bank has a 25,000-mAh capacity and can deliver up to 165 watts to two devices (it tops out at 100 watts for a single device connected via USB-C). The retractable cable is nice, and the clever braided 1-foot USB-C cable doubles as a carry loop. It has a display to show the remaining battery, charging rate in and out, battery temperature, and health.

Photograph: Ugreen

Ugreen’s 145-watt charger, with 25,000-mAh battery, is surprisingly compact for the power it provides. There are two USB-C ports and one USB-A port. What sets the Ugreen apart is that you can actually draw 145 watts while charging. That works out to one USB-C port at 100 W and the other at 45 W.

Photograph: Anker

Anker

711 Charger (Nano II 30W)

This Anker charger is very small (unfortunately, the plugs don’t fold, see below if you want folding plugs), and supports 30 watt charging. That’ll be enough for most phones, and can also handle tablets and even possibly low-power laptops.

Photograph: Anker

Anker

713 Charger (Nano II 45W)

This Anker plug is nice and compact, with a folding plug which makes it great for travel. If you have a phone that’s capable, this is a nice way to fast charge, and this will of course be perfect for laptops, tablets, and other devices.

Birdfy Plastic Smart Bird Feeder

I’ve been testing smart bird feeders daily for almost a year now, and I can say definitively that no smart feeder is perfect. However, if you want something at the intersection of reliability, features, and affordability, this feeder, the top pick in our guide to the Best Smart Bird Feeders, is your best bet. This model is especially a great buy as it comes with both a lifetime subscription and a solar panel to keep it charged. —Kat Merck

Hydro Flask

Standard Mouth Water Bottle

Hydro Flask has several types of bottles and caps available in a bunch of fun color options. You can choose one color for the bottle, another for the lid, and depending on which one you’re getting, yet another for the strap or straw. In our years of testing, this has proved the most durable water bottle.

Photograph: Adrienne So

Ninja

8-in-1 Woodfire Outdoor Oven

Ninja’s cute and compact outdoor oven (7/10, WIRED Review) is temperature accurate, versatile, and adds a touch of smokiness without you needing to mess with the complexity (or size) of a full smoker. It’s idiotproof and affordable, we love it for decks and those with limited outdoor cooking space, since you can do a lot of things with it.

Yeti reinvented the cooler, and we thank them for it. The rotomolded Tundra is built like a tank with 3-inch-thick insulated walls, and in our testing it kept ice frozen for six days in blazing 90-degree heat while stored in direct sunlight on Adrienne’s deck. I (Scott) have managed to get five days out of it in the insane humidity of Florida in the spring. A Yeti hard-sided cooler is the best cooler around. Note that this deal is only on the one, wine-colored Tundra.

Photograph: Weber

Of all the portable charcoal grills I’ve tested, the Weber Jumbo Joe remains my favorite. It strikes the best balance of affordability, features, and ease of use. It’s big enough (18.5 inches in diameter) to smoke two racks of ribs or to fit burgers and corn for six people (admittedly, this was crowded) but small enough that you’ll still have room in the trunk for a cooler and camping supplies.

Photograph: Biolite

BioLite

FirePit+ Smokeless Portable FirePit

Biolite’s FirePit+ is a sleek, portable, mesh box with removable legs, a hibachi-style grill, and an ash bin. It has a rechargeable 10,400 mAh battery that can power 51 air jets for up to 26 hours. This allows you to precisely control the flame, and to some extent, the heat of the fire. The FirePit+ can burn charcoal or wood and, thanks to the fans, you don’t need a charcoal chimney and you’ll never struggle to get a fire burning.

Photograph: Simon Hill

Jackery

Explorer 2000 Plus

Our favorite portable power station, the Explorer 2000 Plus has everything you need. It’s got plenty of ports, supports fast charging, and the 2,042-watt-hour capacity will keep you running for days. You can charge it speedily from your AC outlet, but it also works with solar panels, like Jackery’s SolarSaga 200-W Solar Panel. Just be aware that it weighs a hefty 62 pounds.

Best Home Deals

Photograph: Amazon

KitchenAid

Artisan Series 5 Quart Stand Mixer

The Artisan is a design classic, but it doesn’t just look great, it performs as well. It’s got plenty of power, and the tilt head lifts smoothly so you can change attachments. You get four attachments in total, including a dough hook, a wire whip, a pastry beater, and a flex edge beater that manages to get right up to the sides of the bowl so no cake mixture is left behind.

Courtesy of Dyson

The best budget Dyson vac, the Digital Slim is basic, but powerful. It lacks some of the newer features on nicer models. For example, instead of a single power button, it still has a trigger you have to hold down while vacuuming. You’ll do get a Motorbar cleaner head, combination tool, and crevice tool in the box. It’s not compatible with fancier accessories like the Laser Slim Fluffy cleaner head that shoots out a green laser to spot microscopic dust. We have seen the price dip lower on sale, but this is still a solid deal.

Photograph: Lisa Wood Shapiro

Shark

NeverChange Air Purifier

As seen in our guide to the Best Air Purifiers, Shark’s NeverChange doesn’t sport a filter you never have to change, it just lasts up to five years. WIRED reviewer Lisa Wood Shapiro found that even this is only true in very small rooms, but no matter. It’s still a great deal on a decent air purifier, which now comes in fun colors like green and lavender. (Those ones aren’t on sale, though.) —Kat Merck

Photograph: Amazon

GHD has something of a cult following due to its reliability and unique features like single temperature setting (365 degrees Fahrenheit) and fun little chime to let you know it’s heated up. We tout it as a more affordable alternative to the popular GHD Chronos (7/10, WIRED Review) in our guide to the Best Hair Straighteners, and at $73 off, it’s about as good a deal as you’re going to find on a GHD. —Kat Merck

Photograph: Amazon

Waterpik

Cordless Advanced 2.0 Water Flosser

This cordless powerhouse is compact, waterproof (yes, you can use it in the shower), and charges fast in four hours. It offers three pressure settings, four tips, and a 360-degree rotating handle that gets into every nook of your mouth. The water reservoir runs for about 45 seconds per fill, just enough for a thorough clean. It also comes with a microfiber travel bag, tip case, water plug, and universal voltage. Ideal for neat freaks or frequent travelers. —Boutayna Chokrane

Photograph: Philips

Philips

Philips Sonicare 4100 Electric Toothbrush

There are countless Philips Sonicare electric toothbrushes to choose from, but I keep coming back to the trusty 4100. Its gentle vibrations are easier on gums than the more aggressive oscillating brushes. You get a two-minute timer, two intensity settings, and a pressure sensor to protect your enamel. Battery life is excellent, lasting about two weeks per charge, and the built-in BrushSync tech lets you know when it’s time to replace the head. It’s simple, smart, and under $50. —Boutayna Chokrane

Revlon

Revlon One-Step Volumizer Plus

We’ve loved the Revlon One-Step Volumizer Plus (8/10, WIRED Recommends) for a while. It dries and styles in one go, with its 2-inch oval barrel and four heat modes (including a cool setting). The detachable head makes it easy to pack or stash in a drawer, and the ceramic titanium tech reduces heat exposure by 50 percent. It’s a smarter (and safer) upgrade from the original version—which had recall issues overseas—and a cheaper alternative to Drybar tools. —Boutayna Chokrane

Due to a Price Agreement with Samsung, Amazon Can’t Publicly Show the Huge Galaxy S25+ Discount

by admin June 26, 2025

Amazon typically has deals with major brands such that they do not destroy the luxury brand image by offering massive discounts. That means technically, you can have a “hidden price” on the product page and you will only see the real discount if you add the product to your cart.

This is exactly the situation with the Galaxy S25+, the clear best-seller among the S25 series. The Galaxy S25+ has come out earlier this year and is now at a record-low price, way below that on Samsung’s own website. Currently, the Galaxy S25+ 512GB is available on Amazon for $919 which is a substantial reduction from its original $1,119 price.

See at Amazon

Flagship Android Phone

At the heart of the Galaxy S25+ is a Qualcomm Snapdragon very premium processor running at 4.47 GHz, paired with 12GB of RAM. This combination delivers lightning-fast performance. The 512GB of internal storage gives you plenty of room for documents so you’ll never have to worry about not having enough space. The 6.7-inch AMOLED ProScaler display is a treat for the eyes, and offers rich colorful shades, deep blacks, and sharp details.

Galaxy S25+ runs on the latest One UI 7 which is based on Android 15 so you’ll enjoy the latest features, security patches, and a snappy user interface. The phone is carrier-unlocked for all carriers, so you can use it with any of the leading carriers in the US. Its 5G capability means you’ll enjoy ultra-fast download and upload speeds, perfect for streaming, video calls, and online gaming. Battery life is another strong point with the Galaxy S25+ easily lasting way more than a full day on a single charge, even with heavy use.

You will also be impressed by its AI-powered camera system: The Audio Eraser AI Camera lets you capture rich low-light videos and minimize unwanted noise so you can relive your best moments less interrupted. Upgraded portrait features control skin tones and preserve natural textures to give each shot a sophisticated, professional look. The in-phone AI assistant can perform several tasks simultaneously, freeing you up during your day and making it easier to stay organized.

The Galaxy S25+ also includes Now Brief, a smart assistant that provides you with the information you need before you even realize that you do. This puts you ahead of the game. The phone’s powerful processor makes it possible for you to translate calls, slow down video, or edit pictures without losing a beat, so you can do it both for work and play.

Don’t lose out on this exclusive chance to upgrade to one of the best phones of 2025 at a price that’s just irresistible.

28 Years Later Steelbook Collector’s Edition Preorders Are Live At Amazon

by admin June 25, 2025

More than two decades after the release of 28 Days Later, director Danny Boyle and screenwriter Alex Garland have teamed up again for a new film beloved post-apocalyptic zombie franchise. 28 Years Later hit theaters on June 20, earning strong reviews from critics and fans. It’s the third entry in the series, though Boyle/Garland didn’t work on 28 Weeks Later, the 2007 standalone sequel. Fans may want to consider locking in a preorder for the 28 Years Later Steelbook Collector’s Edition, which is available for $45 and comes with 4K and 1080p Blu-ray discs as well as a digital copy.

At the time of writing, the Steelbook Collector’s Edition is the No. 1 best-selling movie on Amazon. It’s not uncommon for steelbook preorders that top Amazon’s charts to sell out. The 4K Blu-ray release date for 28 Years Later hasn’t been announced, but you won’t be charged until your order ships (likely two to three months from now).

If you need to refresh your memory before watching 28 Years Later, Prime Video has deals on the first two movies. You can buy 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later for $15 total.

$45

The official design of the steelbook case hasn’t been revealed yet. Placeholder art for all physical editions showcases the grisly Bone Temple from the movie. Typically, promotional materials like this are used for the standard editions, and steelbooks get their own unique exterior and interior art, so don’t be surprised if the Collector’s Edition’s case design is markedly different from this.

The Steelbook Collector’s Edition comes with 4K Blu-ray, 1080p Blu-ray, and digital copies of 28 Years Later.

Even if you don’t care about steelbook cases, it offers the best value at the moment. Both Amazon and Walmart have priced the Collector’s Edition at $45. Blu-ray pricing can be all over the place when preorders first open, and that’s reflected in the list below. The standard edition 4K Blu-ray is five bucks more at both retailers, and the 1080p version is $41. Amazon has the DVD of 28 Years Later for $35, which would be the most curious number here if it wasn’t for the $41 cost at Walmart.

Standard edition prices will likely drop in the coming weeks. You won’t be charged for your preorder until it ships, and you’ll get any deals offered before release. It’s also worth keeping in mind that steelbook preorders sometimes increase from their initial price.

  • Preorder Steelbook Collector’s Edition (4K Blu-ray)
  • Preorder 4K Blu-ray
  • Preorder Blu-ray
  • Preorder DVD

Special features haven’t been revealed yet, but we’re expecting the usual assortment of behind-the-scenes featurettes, interviews, and promotional materials.

As mentioned above, 28 Years Later is a sequel to 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later–there’s no 28 Months Later, much to our dismay–and it sees Boyle return to the director’s chair, armed with a script penned by Garland. The original film launched Garland’s Hollywood career and showcased Boyle’s impressive range as the director; it’s cool to see the pair team up again 23 years later on 28 Years Later (sorry).

Set almost three decades since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory, the UK is still cut off from the outside world, and this has given rise to new communities that survive amidst the chaos. One such outpost is located on a small island connected to the mainland by a single and heavily-defended causeway, and the film chronicles the journey of a group from that village who discover new secrets and horrors in the lands beyond their safe haven.

One of the interesting things about 28 years Later is that it was filmed with iPhone 15 smartphones–using custom-made lenses and specialized rigs–to create a unique look for the film. A sequel, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, has already been filmed and will be out next year, and if both films are a success, there’ll be a threequel to finish off this new horror trilogy.

The previous films in the series are still worth watching, but in the case of 28 Days Later, there is a catch here. Even on Blu-ray, the movie looks pretty bad, but not because of a poor transfer or shoddy remastering. Partly due to strict time constraints on UK filmmakers looking to shoot their movies on location, Boyle and his team decided to go with lightweight Canon digital camcorders for production so that shoots could be lean and fast.

28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later on DVD

This allowed them to film the eerily abandoned streets of London quickly, but the downside here is that these cameras could only offer low-resolution digital footage that was then saved to MiniDV cassettes. Unlike film, upscaling from these tapes is extremely difficult, and this is made very evident by the final scenes of 28 Days Later that were shot with an Arri camera in a higher resolution.

As for 28 Weeks Later, it isn’t as widely loved as 28 Days Later, but it’s still a rock-solid zombie movie with several incredible scenes, if you don’t mind the overreliance on shaky-cam techniques employed by director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo.

Watch 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later

Both films are technically available on Blu-ray, but since they’ve been out of print for years now, the prices are rather high. The out-of-print DVD editions can also be fairly expensive, but you can get a combo pack with both films for $50-$60. It’s worth mentioning the editions in the box set display in 4:3 aspect ratio and will look best on CRT TVs. Widescreen editions of both movies are available to purchase separately.

As mentioned, you can also grab digital versions of 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later for low prices on Amazon.

A 4K Blu-ray edition of 28 Days Later is in the works, but we’re not certain if it’ll look better or worse in ultra-high-definition. Considering the picture quality, it’s best to go with the DVD or cheap digital versions of 28 Days Later for now. Fans can preorder the 28 Days Later 4K Steelbook Edition for $45, though it’s not expected to ship until December at the earliest.

Amazon announces three-year $54 billion investment into warehouse facilities, infrastucture, and wages throughout Britain

by admin June 25, 2025

With end of financial year sales winding down, I can finally look at online stores again without fearing the loss of all of my money. Of course, in global news Amazon has managed to put my own finances in perspective, pledging to invest around $54 million dollars into its operations in the UK. Now I feel poor without even having to spend a dime, thanks Bezos.

Reuters reports, the online shopping giant has just announced a commitment to invest $54 billion USD into its operations in Britain. The spend will take place over the next three years, and includes opening two new fulfilment centres which are set to open in 2027. This is in addition to the already planned centres around the country that are expected to open in the next two years.

The money will also go to opening more delivery stations across the United Kingdom, as well as upgrades to the existing buildings in operation. This includes an expansion to the corporate headquarters in London as well as some redevelopment works on other existing locations. It also includes funds going to the company’s cloud computing arm, as well as salaries for employees, but not to any Steam competitor storefronts.

Amazon is presenting this as a mass creation of jobs within the UK. Currently, the corporation employs around 75,000 people in the UK, and boasts that the opening of new locations will only add to this. For example, the planned The Hull and Northampton sites are set to create 2,000 new jobs, each. The company is already a top-ten private sector employer in the UK, and this could move it further up the rankings.

The UK government is taking the investment from Amazon as a big thumbs up to its current economic strategy. Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Amazon’s plans represented “a massive vote of confidence in the UK as the best place to do business.”

For UK consumers hopefully this means they’ll have access to more stock and faster deliveries once this infrastructure is in place. With how hard PC parts can be nowadays, maybe this will help a few folks pick up a new graphics card.

The jobs also seem like a nice addition, especially for all those who dreamed of working in an Amazon factory one day. Having a giant ecommerce platform go all in on your tiny island sounds fairly intimidating, but if anyone can handle a rich foreign power coming in and making huge investments into their way of life, it has to be the UK.

If You Own an iPhone, Amazon Is Offering a Free AirTag Before Prime Day

by admin June 24, 2025

Apple doesn’t often discount products, and AirTags have never been on sale from the Apple website or in Apple stores. Amazon, however, occasionally surprises us with exclusive pricing on these useful Bluetooth trackers.

For the best value, a pack of AirTags is nearly always a better buy than a single one. Amazon is also running a great deal just in time for Prime Day: purchase three AirTags and receive a fourth free. That drops the price of four AirTags to just $74, down from the regular $99 ($25 each + one free). That’s one of the best discounts we’ve ever seen on these trackers.

Track Your Belongings with Apple

AirTag is a small device that’s perfect for keeping track of your keys, wallet, luggage, backpack and anything else you want to stay with. It’s simple to set up and you just have to tap your iPhone (or iPad) and the AirTag is paired in an instant. Every AirTag is about the size of a large coin so it’s simple to drop into pockets. It has a built-in speaker to play a sound to help you find your things and you can use Siri to have them locate it for you as well.

Precision Finding is one of the neatest aspects, and it uses the Ultra Wideband technology. On some iPhone models, this feature directs you to your AirTag with visual, haptic and auditory cues. For items far away, the AirTag uses the huge Find My network: Hundreds of millions of Apple devices collaborate to locate your lost items. When you mark your AirTag as lost, you get a notification the very moment it’s detected by another device in the network.

Apple takes privacy seriously: All interactions with the Find My network are encrypted and anonymous. Location data and history are never stored on the AirTag itself so your information is safe. AirTags also support sharing with up to five people able to track an item together.

Obviously, it also boasts an IP67 water- and dust-resistance rating, which makes it capable of withstanding spills, rain, and everyday handling. The device uses a user-replaceable CR2032 coin cell battery with a lifespan of over a year. This makes maintenance simple and hassle-free.

The AirTag is one of the smarter things you can do for your everyday items at this price range.

Deckbuilding Game Based On Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn Saga Is Available At Amazon

by admin June 23, 2025

A new deckbuilding tabletop game based on Brandon Sanderson’s popular Mistborn Saga book series is now available to purchase at Amazon for $43 at Amazon. Mistborn: The Deckbuilding Game is designed for 1-4 players and includes everything you need to play right in the box, making this a great choice for fans who want to engage with the fantasy universe in a new way.

$42.86 (was $45)

Mistborn: The Deckbuilding Game was created by card game designer John D. Clair and published by Brotherwise Games. This is a standalone deck-building game, meaning every card is included in the box, with each card based on characters, items, and other concepts from the Mistborn novels. Each player builds their own decks from the included cards using a point-based “purchase” system, and gameplay revolves around a resource-management “Burn” mechanic themed after the metal-based Allomancy magic from the series. The game offers three modes of play, including head-to-head competitive multiplayer, as well as solo and co-op modes where the players battle against Luthadel City’s Lord Ruler and his Steel Inquisitors. Each mode tasks players with completing a series of missions to win, and matches last around 45 minutes.

Mistborn: The Deckbuilding Game

While Mistborn: The Deckbuilding Game is the latest official tabletop game based on Sanderson’s work from Brotherwise Games, it’s not the only one. A standalone expansion for the Call to Adventure card game based on The Stormlight Archive series is also available. This is another all-in-one, quest-based card game that features 120 cards and unique rules based on The Stormlight Archives series. Players start the game by picking Character cards that have unique abilities and goals, and modify them with new traits as each match progresses. The game supports 1-4 players and has rules for solo, co-op, and competitive play.

Call to Adventure: The Stormlight Archive can be purchased and played standalone or combined with the original Call to Adventure base game. There are also additional expansion sets available if you want to add even more cards and mechanics to the game.

Call To Adventure Tabletop Game

If you’re looking for even more card games, Brotherwise Games also recently launched a new edition of its video-game-inspired Boss Monster card game wherein players craft their own dungeons to thwart NPC adventurers. Super Boss Monster retains the fast-paced loop of the original while adding new systems such as card drafting and support for solo players. It’s also compatible with all original Boss Monster sets and expansions. As the name suggests, Super Boss Monster pays homage to the SNES and is even packaged in a Super Nintendo-style cartridge box. The original Boss Monster core sets have NES-inspired boxes, and the budget-friendly expansions use Game Boy-style boxes.

Mistborn: The Original Trilogy

The tabletop games set in Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere universe can be played and enjoyed without reading either series–Mistborn or Stormlight Archive–but naturally existing fans will appreciate some of the details and references found in the games. If you’re interested in checking out either of Sanderson’s bestselling series of adult fantasy novels, we’ve rounded up some deals below on box sets, hardcover editions, and paperbacks.

The Mistborn Saga Box Sets

For newcomers, Mistborn is generally considered more approachable than Stormlight. Sanderson’s Mistborn saga currently has seven novels. The first trilogy of novels fall within the epic and urban fantasy genres, but they are also heist novels with a heavy emphasis on political intrigue and a creative magic system. The second trilogy, Wax and Wayne, takes place three centuries after the third novel and could aptly be described as character-driven crime novels that take place in a fantasy world. The Lost Metal, Book 7 in the overarching saga and the first book in the new sequence, incorporates sci-fi and steampunk trappings and features technology from the ’80s and ’90s.

After reading the first three Mistborn books, check out Mistborn: Secret History, which takes place between the first and second trilogies.

The Mistborn Saga (Paperbacks)

  1. The Final Empire — $16.79 ($22)
  2. The Well of Ascension — $15 ($22)
  3. The Hero of Ages — $11 ($22)
  4. The Alloy of Law — $12.73 ($22)
  5. Shadows of Self — $13 ($22)
  6. The Bands of Mourning — $16 ($22)
  7. The Lost Metal — $15 ($24)

The Stormlight Archive hardcover editions

The Stormlight Archive, meanwhile, is a more traditional epic fantasy series with huge ensemble casts and a plethora of narrative threads. Fans of Game of Thrones and Wheel of Time should definitely check out the Stormlight Archive novels. Each of the five mainline books is a doorstopper. The fifth book in the series, Wind and Truth, released late last year to critical acclaim and commercial success. Wind and Truth is the longest book in the series at 1,344 pages. You can get a hardcover box set with the first four Stormlight Archive novels for 50% off at Amazon. For a more budget-friendly option, check out the Stormlight paperback box set featuring the first three books for $25.

The Stormlight Archive (Hardcover)

Sanderson has also released a number of standalone books set in the Cosmere, the vast universe that’s home to both Stormlight and Mistborn. Three of the four current Secret Projects books–the most successful Kickstarter campaign ever–are set in the Cosmere. The fifth Secret Project book, Isles of the Emberdark, is also set in the Cosmere and releases February 3, 2026.

This Amazon bundle includes the Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones and a free $30 gift card

by admin June 22, 2025

There are a few undeniable truths in this world: the sky is blue, Mario Kart is always a good idea and Sony’s 1000X line of headphones is amazing. The latter was proved true once again when Sony released the WH-1000XM6 edition of its wireless noise canceling headphones in May. The only downside is its price, coming in at $450 — $50 more than its predecessors launch price.

Amazon is throwing all of us a bone, though, and having a sale of sorts. Right now, you can get the Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones and a $30 Amazon gift card for $448. Yes, that is $2 less than the headphones on their own. It’s no secret that the “bundle” serves as a nice incentive to buy Sony’s new headphones from Amazon, but, hey, a $30 gift card never hurt anyone.

The gift card is basically for free with your headphone purchase.

Sony released the WH-1000XM6 headphones three years after their predecessor, but the new model quickly proved to be worth the wait. We gave the M6s a 94 in our review thanks to features like improved sound and better active noise cancelation. One of the best things about this model compared to the M5s is the return to a folding design — I love my M5s but it’s very annoying that they don’t shrink at all. The M6s are also very comfy and have a wider headband for easy wear.
