Capcom replaces disqualified art contest winner with new work following AI allegations

by admin August 26, 2025

Capcom has revealed new in-game Street Fighter 6 loading screen art for Kimberly which will be given to all players as part of a recent community art contest.

This piece comes as a replacement for a former entry, which was disqualified following allegations of AI use. According to the terms and conditions of the art contest, all work submitted must be entirely original, and as such the suspected AI use broke the rules.

Alongside the new art reveal comes the following statement from Capcom: “The Street Fighter 6 development team has completed the previously announced replacement for Kimberly’s new challenger screen. The illustration is based on her swimsuit Outfit 4, which has been earning rave reviews from the community.”

It’s not just the Kimberly piece players will be able to use. Taking a look at the art contest website, a selection of winning entries are displayed alongside the artist who created them. All of these – representing a wide spread of playable characters – will soon be popping up in your online matches.

These art pieces will all be free, and delivered to all Street Fighter 6 players in short order. It’s a nice end to a bit of controversy, with the contest remaining a celebration of the creative talents of Street Fighter players. You love to see it.

Kanye West’s Solana Coin YZY Rocked By Insider Allegations

by admin August 21, 2025

The Solana-based memecoin YZY, promoted by Kanye West (Ye), posted one of the most volatile debuts of the year, rocketing to a multi-billion-dollar valuation within minutes before retracing as on-chain sleuths flagged insider activity and a contentious liquidity setup. In an X post on Thursday, West shared the contract address and framed “YZY MONEY” as “A NEW ECONOMY, BUILT ON CHAIN,” helping propel the token to roughly $3 billion in market value within about 40 minutes, before sliding sharply lower later in the session.

YZY Faces Insider Trading Claims On Solana

Early trading immediately drew scrutiny. Analytics account Lookonchain alleged that “Only YZY was added to the liquidity pool with no USDC. Dev may sell YZY by adding/removing liquidity, similar to LIBRA,” a single-sided structure that can make exits opaque for retail takers and amplify slippage through add/remove liquidity operations.

Several wallets appeared to have anticipated the launch mechanics. Lookonchain identified wallet 6MNWV8 as having known the contract address ahead of time, even attempting to purchase it before the token went live. Once trading opened, that wallet spent 450,611 USDC to acquire 1.29 million YZY at roughly $0.35, later selling 1.04 million YZY for 1.39 million USDC and retaining 249,907 YZY (about $600,000) — a take the analysts calculated as “a profit of over $1.5M.”

A second cluster of transactions suggested an orchestrated rush to the front of the queue. According to Lookonchain, an insider spent 450,000 USDC across two wallets to buy 1.89 million YZY at $0.24, then sold 1.59 million YZY for 3.37 million USDC at $2.12, still holding ~303,425 YZY (~$510,000). One of the addresses paid 129 SOL (≈$24,000) in priority fees to win block space at launch.

Not every attempt to front-run succeeded. Lookonchain also documented a trader who “bought the wrong YZY and lost $710K,” then spent 761,000 USDC on the official token and recouped over $710,000 minutes later — a whipsaw emblematic of hyper-fragmented symbols during celebrity launches.

Speculation spread beyond spot markets. “Trader 0x68c0 just opened a 3x leveraged long on $YZY again,” Lookonchain wrote, noting that his previous two long attempts within the hour had already lost a combined $159.6K.

Momentum ultimately broke. “YZY has dropped below $1,” Lookonchain posted, adding that whale 6ZFnRH spent 1.55 million USDC to buy 996,453 YZY at $1.56, only to exit at $1.06 for 1.05 million USDC — a ~$500,000 loss in under two hours.

At network level, the launch became a live-fire stress test for Solana. SolanaFloor reported that the chain’s “true TPS (non-vote transactions) hit 2,300 for the first time” during the YZY debut — a new peak for real transaction throughput and a marked improvement from earlier celebrity-token frenzies.

Beyond discrete wallet anecdotes, broader supply concentration data fanned the “insider” narrative. Coinbase’s Conor Grogan pointed to on-chain snapshots suggesting at least 94% of supply sat with insiders at one point, including a single multisig with 87% before distribution — numbers that, if sustained, can magnify price impact during rebalancing or liquidity removal.

The project’s documentation promoted anti-sniping steps — notably deploying 25 contract addresses and randomly designating one as official — but those measures did not prevent early-access behavior flagged by analysts.

At press time, Solana traded at $185.

Senate Probe Uncovers Allegations of Widespread Abuse in ICE Custody

by admin August 19, 2025

A United States Senate investigation has identified more than 500 credible reports of human rights abuses in US immigration detention since January, including alarming allegations of mistreatment of pregnant women and children.

As of late last month, the investigation—led by US senator Jon Ossoff, a Democrat of Georgia—had unearthed 41 cases of physical and sexual abuse; 14 involving pregnant detainees and 18 involving children.

The accounts of abuse span facilities in 25 states and include Puerto Rico, US military bases, and charter deportation flights. Among the most harrowing: a pregnant woman reportedly bled for days before being taken to a hospital, only to miscarry alone without medical attention. Others described being forced to sleep on the floor or denied meals and medical exams. Attorneys reported that their clients’ prenatal checkups were canceled for weeks at a time.

Children as young as 2 were also subjected to neglect. One US citizen child with severe medical needs was hospitalized multiple times while in Customs and Border Protection custody, where an officer allegedly dismissed her mother’s pleas for help by telling her to “just give the girl a cracker.” Another child recovering from brain surgery was reportedly denied follow-up care, and a 4-year-old undergoing cancer treatment was deported without access to doctors.

The Senate investigation found most abuse reports at detention centers in Texas, Georgia, and California, spanning both facilities run by the Department of Homeland Security and federal prisons used under Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agreements. The findings are based on dozens of witness interviews, Ossoff’s office says, including detainees, family members, attorneys, correctional staff, law enforcement, doctors and nurses, as well as site inspections of detention centers in Texas and Georgia.

The report also cites corroborating news investigations and public records, drawing on sources such as WIRED, Miami Herald, NBC News, CNN, BBC, and regional outlets like Louisiana Illuminator and VT Digger.

Together, these sources formed the foundation of what the report describes as an “active and ongoing investigation” into systemic mistreatment of pregnant women and children in US custody.

ICE did not respond to WIRED’s request for comment.

A WIRED investigation published in late June focused on 911 calls from 10 of the nation’s largest ICE detention centers, and it revealed a pattern of medical crises ranging from pregnancy complications and suicide attempts to seizures, head injuries, and allegations of sexual assault. (WIRED shared its findings with Ossoff’s office upon request last month.)

Sources told WIRED that detention staff frequently failed to respond to urgent calls for help, including multiple cases in which pregnant women suffered serious complications or miscarriages without timely medical attention.

The Trump administration’s detention system is undergoing rapid expansion, with plans to more than double capacity to over 107,000 beds nationwide. New facilities are rising in West Texas, where a $232 million contract has funded a tent-style camp at Fort Bliss capable of holding up to 5,000 people; and in Indiana, where ICE struck a deal to house 1,000 detainees in the state prison system.

Florida’s so-called “Alligator Alcatraz” caged encampment has already drawn lawsuits over alleged human rights abuses and environmental damage, while critics warn that relying on military bases and remote rural prisons to absorb the surge strips detainees of due process and shields conditions from public scrutiny.

Civil rights groups and local advocates argue that the expansion cements a system already plagued by neglect, pointing to reports of miscarriages, untreated illness, and violence inside.

With contracts flowing to private prison companies and military facilities alike, the US is locking in the largest immigration detention network in the country’s history—an infrastructure that critics say is designed not only to hold migrants but to make their suffering invisible.
