Alien Ant Farm Is Bummed Its Song Was Cut From THPS 3+4

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 will include some of the original songs found in the original PS2-era skating games. But not everything is making the leap to the remaster, including one Alien Ant Farm song, a move the band understands, but still called a “bummer” in a recent interview.

Speaking to the BBC, as spotted by VGC, earlier this week, Alien Ant Farm band members Terry Corso (guitarist) and Dryden Mitchell (lead singer) were asked about a post on the group’s official Instagram account. The band’s official account replied with a single sad emoji face to the news of THPS 3+4‘s soundtrack reveal and confirmation that “Wish” won’t be included. The song was included on THPS 3‘s original soundtrack.

“Is it a bummer that we weren’t invited, or that they didn’t include us? Absolutely,” Corso told the BBC. “We understand that they’re trying to bring some new stuff onto these releases, and if you’ve gotta make cuts, you’ve gotta make cuts. I don’t know why it had to be us, I feel like our song was really good on there, and it did really well.”

“I kind of get it,” said Mitchell, “That skating feels a little bit more like the punk side and we’re not a punk band, but I think that’s what makes a cool soundtrack, is a collection, being different.”

If the band wants to blame anyone, they can directly blame Tony Hawk himself. In March, the skateboard legend and star of the franchise explained that he was the one who made the call on removing some classic songs from the upcoming remaster in order to replace them with new tracks.

“It was my choice to pick some different songs by the same artists featured in THPS3+4. I’m hoping that discovery is half the fun, and a big reason that these soundtracks resonated in the first place. So listen and enjoy the ride.”

There is, as far as we know, not a single Alien Ant Farm song in THPS 3+4. So either Activision and Tony Hawk included something like “Movies” in the upcoming remake, or he just doesn’t like Alien Ant Farm very much, and they were totally cut from the game.

Well, whatever, Mr. Hawk, you can’t stop me from including some Alien Ant Farm in this very post! Take that, buddy! Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 is set to launch on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, Switch 2, and PC on July 11, 2025.

High On Life 2 Adds More Alien Guns And Skateboarding

During today’s Xbox Summer Game Fest showcase, Xbox and Squanch Games announced High On Life 2, which appears to be a bigger sequel to its hit comedy-FPS, High On Life.

And here’s how Xbox and Squanch describe the upcoming fast-paced comedy shooter sequel that features the new ability for players to ride around on a skateboard while shooting silly aliens with even sillier (and weirder) guns that are actually aliens.

An intergalactic conspiracy threatens the fate of humanity! Team up with a wide cast of talking alien guns as you shoot, stab, and skate your way through the exotic locales to take down the bad guys and save your favorite species (humans)!

In High On Life 2‘s announcement trailer, we got a look at some of the new alien guns players will use, including a shotgun and a bow and arrow. We also see a ton of new enemies, more varied environments, and a playable skateboard.

The original High On Life launched back in 2022 on Xbox, PC, and Game Pass and was a runaway surprise hit, becoming one of the most popular games on the service. The game’s snappy gunplay and jokes connected with a lot of people. But soon after its launch, Justin Roiland—the creator of Rick and Morty and co-founder of Squanch Games—found himself in hot water over troubling allegations of abuse. That lawsuit against him was eventually dropped, but not before he left the studio. Roiland also voices characters in the game. It’s unlikely he’ll return.

High On Life 2 is arriving this winter on Xbox, PC, and Game Pass. Here is the new trailer for High On Life 2. The original game eventually landed on other platforms after launching on Xbox and PC.

Ridley Scott Has No Plans To Direct Any More Alien Movies

Alien is one of the most iconic sci-fi horror franchises of all time. But the director who started it all is not only done with the franchise, but is a bit disappointed in how its legacy turned out. In an interview with ScreenRant, Ridley Scott explained how he’s done with the franchise, and reveals his true feelings about the franchise, beyond the films that he directed.

Scott laid the groundwork for what the Alien franchise became. The first film establishes its setting, the Nostromo spaceship, as a claustrophobic labyrinth that induces more terror than the Xenomorph hunting and killing its crew members, and the moment a tiny alien bursts through the chest of Kane (John Hurt) is burned into the memory of anyone who saw it. While Scott returned to direct the 2012 prequel film Prometheus and 2017’s Alien Covenant, he knows his time with the Alien franchise is likely done. “Where it’s going now, I think I’ve done enough, and I just hope it goes further.”

His time with the franchise may be done, but he’s still probably the most trusted authority on what does and doesn’t work in Alien films. To him, the series “deadened after 4,” referring to 1997’s Alien: Resurrection film. Part of the reason he thought there was nowhere else the franchise could go after the Jean-Pierre Jeunet-directed film is because he just didn’t think the movies after his and James Cameron’s films were that good.

“I think mine was pretty damn good, and I think Jim’s was good, and I have to say the rest were not very good. And I thought, ‘Fuck, that’s the end of a franchise which should be as important as bloody Star Trek or Star Wars,’ which I think is phenomenal.”

He did have very nice things to say about Noah Hawley’s Alien: Earth TV series coming to FX starting August 12. As an executive producer on the show, Scott told The Hollywood Reporter that he appreciated how Hawley definitely respected the original Alien.”

As he made clear, there’s much of the Alien franchise Scott doesn’t like, so him praising the upcoming series bodes well for the saga’s upcoming earthbound chapter.

An alien invasion as told by a body snatcher

Usually when aliens invade and start doing the whole body snatching thing, they don’t go around telling everyone about it. Anastasia, aka Stasia, Miller seems to have missed that memo. The main character of Mira Grant’s Overgrowth is an infiltrator from a race of plant-like aliens who came to Earth as a seed, stole the body of 3-year-old Anastasia and has been living as her ever since. And that’s pretty much how she introduces herself to everyone she meets. Most people don’t believe her, and she lives a relatively normal life. She grows up to be somewhat awkward and, fittingly, is obsessed with Little Shop of Horrors, but has a couple of good friends, a supportive partner and a pet cat (Seymour, of course), who she adores. Aliens, they’re just like us.

Everything is flipped on its head when a scientist detects an extraterrestrial signal and Stasia recognizes it as the sign that her people have finally come to launch the full-scale invasion she’s always been warning of. Overgrowth is a thrilling sci-fi horror story that’s also at times lighthearted and funny. It hooked me right away and I was glad it’s almost 500 pages long, because I didn’t want to put it down.
