BREAKING: Binance’s CZ Issues Major Security Alert About BNB Chain’s X Account

by admin October 1, 2025

Former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao has issued a major security warning about the official X account of BNB Chain, which appears to have been compromised by hackers.

ALERT 🚨: The @BNBCHAIN X account may have been compromised.

Please do not click on any links recently posted from this account.

The teams are investigating and will share updates as soon as possible. 🙏

— CZ 🔶 BNB (@cz_binance) October 1, 2025

Several minutes ago, the account posted “$4” alongside the phrase “FOR THE MEME.” This was accompanied by a wallet address and a picture of CZ.

The obviously fraudulent social media post has been pinned by the attackers to gain more exposure. Notably, @BNBCHAIN boasts a whopping 3.6 million followers, which makes it one of the most popular cryptocurrency-related pages on X (and a very juicy target for attackers).

CZ has warned against clicking any suspicious links posted from the account, adding that the team is currently investigating the issue.

Binance’s Chinese account has also warned that the official English-language account of the BNB Chain has been hacked.

Other recent crypto account hacks

Crypto scams have been plaguing social media networks for years. In 2025, there have been several other high-profile X hacks pulled off by crypto scammers. In February, the official account of Pump.fun was used to announce a fake governance token.

During the same month, an account belonging to a WIRED reporter was also compromised to promote a fake WIRED-branded meme token.

Hackers are also targeting public figures. In March, the official X account of Ghana President John Mahama was compromised to promote “Solanafrica,” a fraudulent token on the Solana network. In April, the X account of UK government minister Lucy Powell was hacked to advertise a bogus “community-driven digital currency.”

DeFi Community On Alert Following Hypervault’s $3.6 Million Suspected Rug Pull

by admin September 27, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

Decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol HyperVault is suspected to have executed a “rug pull,” as on-chain analytics account PeckShield noted an abnormal outflow of funds from the protocol, worth close to $3.6 million.

DeFi Protocol HyperVault Pulls The Rug

According to an X post by on-chain analytics account PeckShield, Hyperliquid-based DeFi protocol HyperVault appears to have pulled a quick one on its users, defrauding them of funds worth almost $3.6 million.

PeckShield noted that the stolen funds were bridged from Hyperliquid to Ethereum, swapped into ETH, and then 752 ETH were deposited into Tornado Cash. For the uninitiated, Tornado Cash is a popular crypto mixer that is typically used by hackers to erase their on-chain trail.

Notably, UPUMP tokens worth $191,494, USDC worth $107,358, WHYPE worth $1.55 million, and several other tokens were stolen from HyperVault. PeckShield noted that HyperVault have also deactivated all their socials – including the X handle – virtually confirming the rug pull.

To explain, a rug pull is a type of crypto scam where developers suddenly abandon a project and drain its funds, leaving investors with worthless tokens. It’s common in DeFi and NFT spaces, where anonymity and lack of regulation make quick exits easier.

HyperVault offered “unmanaged” auto-compounding vaults, strategy adapters, and keeper-bot harvests. These features helped users route their digital assets to lending, looping, and concentrated liquidity venues on HyperEVM.

Another X user HypingBull, commented, saying that they had been warning about HyperVault since September 4. In an X post, the user stated that the protocol’s developers lied to them about audits, adding:

I have just reached Pashov (blockchain audit firm) on Telegram, asking if Hypervaut is doing an audit via them. The answer was: “First time I hear the project with this name”. WTF? This is super suspicious. I am withdrawing all the funds from the protocol until the team clarifies what’s going on.

Unfortunately, users continued to deposit funds into the DeFi protocol, lured by the protocol’s promised 90% APR yields on HYPE tokens. However, the extraordinarily high-yield promises at the time did not raise the alarm among users.

That said, the HYPE token appears to be minimally impacted by this suspected rug pull, as it is trading at $42.89 at the time of writing, up 2.8% on the day. However, the token is down almost 25% over the past week.

Crypto Still The Wild West?

While the total crypto market cap now hovers over $3.8 trillion, the safety of users continues to be a major factor hindering the industry from mainstream adoption. For example, crypto phishing attacks recorded a significant surge in August 2025, impacting as many as 15,230 victims, resulting in a loss of $12 million in user funds.

Similarly, the THORChain Founder lost $1.35 million earlier this month after a deepfake Zoom and Telegram scam. At press time, Bitcoin (BTC) trades at $109,488, down 1.6% in the past 24 hours.

XRP Ledger Issues Important Migration Alert for Validators: Details

XRP Ledger Issues Important Migration Alert for Validators: Details

by admin September 22, 2025

A crucial migration alert has been issued to XRP Ledger validators. As part of the migration of assets from the old XRPL Foundation (now known as Inclusive Financial Technology Foundation) to the new XRPL Foundation, the old XRPL Foundation’s published UNL, known as the default UNL or dUNL, is also being migrated.

With the new XRPL Foundation UNL currently active, validators whose XRP Ledger node currently trusts the UNL published by the old XRP Ledger Foundation are urged to migrate to it by making some changes to their rippled configuration.

Failure to switch or update to the new settings might cause validator nodes to stop loading the XRPL Foundation’s trusted validators list from Sept. 30, 2025, and entirely on Jan. 18, 2026, when the now-deprecated UNL expires.

For validators, if their rippled configuration remains unupdated within these timelines, the node could stop connecting to the network if it relies exclusively on the (old) UNL published by the XRPL Foundation. Also, there is a chance of disruption if referencing the old foundation list along with other lists, which makes the migration of the utmost importance.

‼️ Very Important.

The XRP Ledger Foundation dUNL migration deadline is approaching.

Please make sure you have the new validator list and keys to continue using it. https://t.co/uSoWDZKKBd

Vet, a dUNL validator on the XRP Ledger, shared this crucial information in an X post, noting that the XRP Ledger Foundation dUNL migration deadline is approaching — it is only eight days away.

mXRP goes live

In a recent tweet, Axelar Network announced mXRP, a new yield-bearing liquid staked token that kickstarts DeFi on XRPL and unlocks up to 10% APY for XRP holders.

Midas, in partnership with Interop Labs, has announced the launch of mXRP on the Axelar network, a first-of-its-kind tokenized exposure product offering XRP-denominated yield strategies.

The mXRP token is issued on the new XRPL EVM through audited smart contracts. The XRP asset is bridged into the protocol through Axelar, which enables tokenization across over 80 blockchains, broadening access to mXRP.

XRP was trading at $2.84 at press time.

Ripple CEO Scam Busted by CTO, Alert Goes Out to XRP Community

by admin September 6, 2025

In a recent X conversation, Ripple CTO David Schwartz has flagged an impersonation scam involving Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse. An X user had tweeted a scam video of Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse highlighting future plans for XRP.

Schwartz was quick to call out the scam, responding to the tweet with a GIF image that bore “scam alert,” warning the XRP community as a result.

Of recent, there has been an increase in scammers impersonating top personalities in the crypto space, including Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse. Bad actors often use legitimate videos from media interviews or public speaking events of these high profile figures and overlay scam content that often leads to a fake website or crypto wallet with the intent to steal funds.

Scammers also often digitally manipulate videos to produce deepfakes, with the video in this context utilizing the likeness of Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse to promote a fraudulent website.

Warning issued

Deepfakes are often difficult to identify and may not be discerned by unsuspecting users, hence contributing to the spread of misinformation, crypto scams and other fraudulent acts.

The posts often direct users to fake web domains that feature a public “send to” wallet address.

As a safety measure, users are urged to always be cautious when asked for their financial details, even if it appears to come from a reliable source or someone they know.

Last month, Ripple announced it had joined TRM Labs’ real-time crypto crime response network, Beacon.

Scam Alert: Uniswap V4’s Bunni DEX Loses Millions to Hackers

by admin September 2, 2025

Malicious actors in the cryptocurrency space remain a constant threat to the sector and are not moved by market conditions as they strike during bull and bearish market conditions. Within the last 24 hours, Uniswap V4’s Bunni decentralized exchange (DEX) has been attacked by hackers.

Hackers exploit Bunni DEX vulnerability

According to an update from PeckShieldAlert, a blockchain security firm that monitors the crypto space, hackers have exploited a vulnerability on Bunni DEX. This has led to the hackers stealing approximately $2.4 million worth of assets.

Critical details of who the attackers could be and the different crypto assets stolen have not been revealed. However, the theft, occurring in the midst of an ongoing bull market, is poised to affect investors who use the exchange.

As of press time, a message from Bunni on their official X handle acknowledged the “security exploit” and precautionary measures taken so far. According to the DEX, their team is currently investigating the incident and will provide details as soon as investigations are concluded.

🚨 The Bunni app has been affected by a security exploit. As a precaution, we have paused all smart contract functions on all networks. Our team is actively investigating and will provide updates soon. Thank you for your patience.

— Bunni (@bunni_xyz) September 2, 2025

It has, however, paused all smart contract functions on all networks while this is ongoing. Bunni has called for patience on the part of its users.

Are there security concerns over Uniswap V4 ecosystem?

The compromise on Bunni DEX by these hackers reemphasizes the need for exchanges to pay attention to safeguarding funds on their platform. This suggests that malicious actors are always scanning the crypto space and attempting to steal. Failure to secure protocols could lead to loss of funds.

Interestingly, in February 2025, Uniswap launched a new V4 protocol that included gas efficiency. Some users have wondered if it has also strengthened its security features to protect exchanges in its ecosystem.

U.Today has consistently reported on scam alerts and activities of hackers with emphasis on how to avoid falling victim to their exploits and safeguarding funds.
