Fortnite adds new NPCs with AI voices but they’re not like Darth Vader

by admin June 11, 2025

Fortnite has introduced two new AI-controlled NPCs that can interact with players in the game’s LEGO mode, Brick Life, but they’re very different compared to the controversial Darth Vader.

Epic Games surprised the entire community when they first introduced AI-powered Darth Vader in the previous Star Wars season. This wasn’t just a typical, run-of-the-mill NPC that like all those that have previously appeared in the game, as this version of the character could actually talk to the player.

AI Vader could do all sorts of things, like giving advice and answering all kinds of questions, leading to a lot of amusing situation. Thus, within a short time, he quickly became a fan favorite.

Of course, that was before some started to make him utter swear words or say horrible things. Despite the AI situation eventually sparking a union lawsuit, however, devs have now added more AI NPCs in-game with a catch.

Fortnite adds two new AI NPCs in LEGO Brick Life

In the latest update, two new AI NPCs, namely Noir and Slurp Leviathan, were added to LEGO Brick Life.

epic games / dexertoYou can choose to mute the AI NPC if you’d like in Fortnite’s LEGO Brick Life.

Although they essentially use the same AI technology as Darth Vader in Battle Royale, one thing that sets them apart from the Star Wars villain is that they communicate differently. With Darth Vader, players could use their microphones to speak directly to him and get a reaction.

However, Noir and Slurp Leviathan will only react to you when you do certain actions, such as using emotes or even giving them a gift. In my own experience, I can confirm they even addressed me as Superman when I used his skin.

Looking at how these new AI NPCs work in Brick Life, it’s clear that Epic has lessened the risk of them saying some wild things due to players triggering them by talking in a certain way or asking inappropriate questions.

No swears were said in the appreciation of your dance moves 💃 Noir was just really excited about you choosing to go with the feelin’ royal emote he didn’t enunciate the ‘n’ in ‘royal flush of funk’ properly

— LEGO Fortnite (@LEGOFortnite) June 8, 2025

Still, one person claimed they had managed to catch one of them swearing, as seen in a clip, but Epic denied this by writing: “Noir was just really excited about you choosing to go with the feelin’ royal emote he didn’t enunciate the ‘n’ in ‘royal flush of funk’ properly.”

These AI NPCs will only be around in Brick Life until June 12, 2025, and if you’d like to find them, you’ll need to head to the south of Cozy Paws Cafe for Slurp Leviathan and Mourndale Academy for Noir.

OpenAI adds the o3-pro model to ChatGPT today

by admin June 10, 2025

OpenAI is keeping up its rapid-fire pace of new AI releases. The company introduced the o3 and o4-mini models to its ChatGPT platform in April. At the time, the business promised that a pro model of the o3 was on the way, and that version became available today.

Both the o3 and o4-mini models are meant to use and combine all the tools under ChatGPT’s umbrella. When OpenAI adds the “pro” designation to a model, it’s a version that has been built to spend longer answering queries to provide better and more accurate responses. “We recommend using it for challenging questions where reliability matters more than speed, and waiting a few minutes is worth the tradeoff,” the company said in the release notes for the o3-pro. In the testing assessments shared, the o3-pro delivered better benchmarks than the o3 and the o1-pro options.

There are some restrictions on the other ChatGPT services the o3-pro can use. Image generation and Canvas are not supported, so users will need to turn to different models for those features. The o3-pro is available today for ChatGPT Pro and Team users, while Enterprise and Edu customers will have access to this option next week.

Roku adds more premium features to its own line of midrange TVs

by admin June 10, 2025

It’s been two years since Roku first introduced its in-house TVs to the market and the streaming-device-turned-TV-maker isn’t slowing down. For 2025, Roku refreshed its entire TV lineup and added more features to its midrange Roku Plus models that were previously reserved for its higher-end TVs.

The latest Roku Plus Series TV gets Smart Picture Max, a feature that automatically adjusts your TV’s picture settings on a scene-by-scene basis and was exclusive to the company’s Pro Series TVs. To make the Plus Series an even better deal, Roku added mini-LED backlighting for better picture quality, a remote finder button on the back of the TV and an integrated cable management system, which are all features also pulled from Roku’s Pro models. To round out the Plus Series, Roku added a built-in subwoofer and a new processor for faster navigation throughout the interface.

To ensure the Pro Series TVs still feel pro, Roku upgraded them with the next generation of its Smart Picture Max. The latest software improves motion clarity, corrects compression artifacts, and automatically selects the best picture mode based on what you’re watching. Roku is also claiming a 75 percent increase in dynamic contrast thanks to its re-engineered mini-LED backlighting for its most expensive models. Roku is introducing hands-free voice controls without a remote with the Pro Series TVs, but they also come with the updated and rechargeable Roku Voice Remote Pro that has backlit buttons and customizable shortcuts. The most affordable models, Roku’s Select Series, are mostly getting software upgrades that are available across the lineup, but now have size options going up to 85 inches. However, all of Roku’s refreshed TVs can support its Bluetooth Headphone Mode and Dolby Audio.

Roku’s expanded Select Series offerings are available in sizes ranging between 24 and 85 inches, starting at $130, while the Plus and Pro Series still only have the 55-, 65- and 75-inch options. The upgraded Roku TVs are out now at retail partners including Best Buy, Walmart, Target and Amazon.

High On Life 2 Adds More Alien Guns And Skateboarding

by admin June 9, 2025

Screenshot: Xbox / Kotaku

During today’s Xbox Summer Game Fest showcase, Xbox and Squanch Games announced High On Life 2, which appears to be a bigger sequel to its hit comedy-FPS, High On Life.

And here’s how Xbox and Squanch describe the upcoming fast-paced comedy shooter sequel that features the new ability for players to ride around on a skateboard while shooting silly aliens with even sillier (and weirder) guns that are actually aliens.

An intergalactic conspiracy threatens the fate of humanity! Team up with a wide cast of talking alien guns as you shoot, stab, and skate your way through the exotic locales to take down the bad guys and save your favorite species (humans)!

The Top 10 Most Played Games On Steam Deck: February 2024 Edition

In High On Life 2‘s announcement trailer, we got a look at some of the new alien guns players will use, including a shotgun and a bow and arrow. We also see a ton of new enemies, more varied environments, and a playable skateboard.

The original High On Life launched back in 2022 on Xbox, PC, and Game Pass and was a runaway surprise hit, becoming one of the most popular games on the service. The game’s snappy gunplay and jokes connected with a lot of people. But soon after its launch, Justin Roiland—the creator of Rick and Morty and co-founder of Squanch Games—found himself in hot water over troubling allegations of abuse. That lawsuit against him was eventually dropped, but not before he left the studio. Roiland also voices characters in the game. It’s unlikely he’ll return.

High On Life 2 is arriving this winter on Xbox, PC, and Game Pass. Here is the new trailer for High On Life 2. The original game eventually landed on other platforms after launching on Xbox and PC.

Starfighter Adds Mia Goth To Ryan Gosling-led Film

by admin June 7, 2025

Image: A24

Imagine if the actress who suffocated her character’s mute, paralyzed father with a pillow in Pearl was now wreaking havoc across the galaxy. We don’t know if suffocation will be in Mia Goth’s arsenal, but we do know that the scream queen will be starring in the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter film, according to The InSneider.

Star Wars Outlaws Lost Me With Its Story Trailer

Goth is the latest actor to be cast in Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy’s highly anticipated take on the Star Wars universe. Ryan Gosling, who noted, “There just really is not a more perfect filmmaker for this particular story than Shawn,” was confirmed to be starring in the film in April after months of speculation.

Details about the film are rarer to come by than an original 1977 cut of Star Wars Episode IV – A New Hope, but we do know enough to feel The Force. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will involve Gosling “playing a character that must protect a young charge against evil pursuers.” Based on THR’s reporting, it appears Goth will be back in her villain bag as one of the evil pursuers. In Star Wars’ interconnected maze of a timeline, Starfighter takes place five years after the events of 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, even though Levy asserts that it’s not part of the same saga.

“This is a stand-alone. It’s not a prequel, not a sequel. It’s a new adventure. It’s set in a period of time that we haven’t seen explored yet,” Levy said at April’s Star Wars Celebration in Japan.

Even though they both share the same name, Levy’s movie will almost surely have little to no connection to the LucasArts game Star Wars: Starfighter, since that story takes place before and during the events of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. Even so, it would be cool if Gosling piloted a ship through an asteroid field like Rhys Dallows does in the game. He would also be contributing to Star Wars’ long history of handsome men flying through a field of asteroids without messing up their immaculate hair, originated by Han Solo himself, Harrison Ford, in The Empire Strikes Back.

The film is set to release on May 28, 2027.

Nasdaq Adds XRP, SOL, ADA, XLM to Crypto Index

by admin June 7, 2025

Nasdaq filed a proposed rule change with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) under Rule 19b-4 on June 2, 2024. Nasdaq is broadening the benchmark for digital assets by adding prominent altcoins XRP, Solana (SOL), Stellar Lumens (XLM), and Cardano (ADA).

The proposal is made to allow the Hashdex Nasdaq Crypto Index US ETF (NCIQ) to shift from its existing benchmark, the Nasdaq Crypto US Settlement Price Index (NCIUS). The ETF would instead use a broader benchmark called the Nasdaq Crypto Index (NCI).

Nasdaq recently refreshed the NCIUS by adding four new coins: XRP, Solana (SOL), Cardano (ADA), and Stellar Lumens (XLM). These are in addition to Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), which are now index constituents, making the benchmark more reflective of the wider crypto market.

However, due to existing SEC laws, the Hasdex ETF at present only holds BTC and ETH. This introduces a tracking error risk since the ETF tracks an index of six assets but invests in only two. Hashdex uses a sampling mechanism to reduce this mismatch, although complete alignment with the index is not guaranteed.

The NCI currently includes 9 cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), XRP, Solana (SOL), Cardano (ADA), Stellar Lumens (XLM), Chainlink (LINK), Litecoin (LTC), and Uniswap (UNI).

If the SEC gives its approval, the ETF will be permitted to invest in all of these coins. The SEC will make a final determination by November 2, 2025. Approval could mark a major step toward greater flexibility and diversification in U.S.-listed crypto ETFs.

Splitgate 2 Adds Battle Royale As Dev Dunks On Call Of Duty

Splitgate 2 Adds Battle Royale As Dev Dunks On Call Of Duty

by admin June 7, 2025

Image: Summer Game Fest / Kotaku

1047 Games cofounder Ian Proulx took the stage at Summer Game Fest on Friday to promote his new game Splitgate 2 by calling out the current state of online shooters. Eschewing the marketing speak of most of his peers at the glossy showcase, he said he wants Titanfall 3 to come out and called his new game’s surprise battle royale mode “fucking awesome” while wearing a “Make FPS Great Again” hat.

The Week In Games: A Star Wars Classic Returns & More New Releases

Splitgate 2 is a free-to-play arena-style shooter where players deploy portals to mess with physics and the fabric of reality to outwit their opponents. “I grew up playing Halo and I’m tired of playing the same Call of Duty every year and I wish we could have Titanfall 3,” Proulx said on stage alongside host Geoff Keighley. He added that the new battle roayle mode aims to combine the old-school arena shooter sensibility with a mechanic to portal to other worlds.

Out today on console and PC after a beta last month, 1047 revealed that the new mode is going live alongside the rest of the game. The subtext of Proulx’s pitch channeling President Trump’s slogan was clear: while EA cancels games and Activision leans into predictable cash-grabs, the underdog team at 1047 is shaking things up with a game by gamers for gamers.

Meanwhile, the riff on “Make America Great Again” took place shortly after a clash between Los Angeles residents and law enforcement over ICE raids in the city’s garment district only blocks from where Keighley’s Summer Game Fest Play Days industry event takes place this weekend. Trump has ordered the immigration agency to arrest a record number of people every day for deportation even as ICE detention centers are criticized for overcrowding and lack of food.

The original Splitgate launched in early access in 2019 and spiked in popularity. The party didn’t last, however, and by 2022, the studio abandoned the game to work on a new project. Last year it revealed that new project was actually just Splitgate 2.

Coinbase Adds Wrapped Xrp And Doge To Base Layer 2

Coinbase Adds Wrapped XRP and DOGE to Base Layer 2

by admin June 5, 2025

Coinbase has launched two new wrapped tokens, cbXRP and cbDOGE, on its Ethereum Layer 2 network called Base. The release follows a quiet preview last month and now gives popular assets like XRP and Dogecoin access to the fast-growing world of decentralized finance.

cbDOGE and cbXRP are now live on @base. cbDOGE and cbXRP are ERC-20 tokens backed 1:1 by DOGE and XRP held in custody by Coinbase.

Here’s what you need to know ↓ pic.twitter.com/QVrqa96ZZB

— Coinbase Assets 🛡️ (@CoinbaseAssets) June 4, 2025

Coinbase holds the actual XRP and DOGE in secure storage and mints one cbXRP or cbDOGE for each coin kept safe. These wrapped tokens run on Base, which is compatible with Ethereum and offers quicker and less expensive transactions than Ethereum’s main network.

The main goal of these new tokens is to give more utility to assets that traditionally lived outside Ethereum. By wrapping them on Base, users can now use XRP and DOGE inside decentralized apps like lending platforms, decentralized exchanges, and yield farms.

A Base representative said the initiative is part of a broader plan to make the onchain economy more accessible. Coinbase wants Base to be a place where anyone can participate, no matter what asset they hold.

The numbers from the first day are already promising. Over 2.3 million cbXRP tokens are out there now, worth around $5 million. And more than 10.4 million cbDOGE tokens have been released, adding up to about $1.9 million. This early buzz clearly shows people want to use familiar coins like XRP and Dogecoin in new DeFi setups.

Coinbase wants Base to stand out among other Layer 2 networks. By bringing in more tokens, it’s making the platform more appealing to people who want faster, cheaper transactions without leaving their go-to coins behind.

More Wrapped Assets on the Way

Coinbase has confirmed that cbLTC and cbADA are already in development. These wrapped versions of Litecoin and Cardano will launch at a later date. The company is building on the success of cbBTC, its wrapped Bitcoin product that launched last year and has since grown to a market capitalization of $4.7 billion.

By steadily expanding its wrapped asset offerings, Coinbase is bringing some of the most popular coins into Ethereum’s DeFi world. The move adds real value for users who want to do more with the assets they already own while also making Base a more useful and inclusive platform.

New GTA 6 police feature adds a big twist to Wanted levels

by admin June 4, 2025

GTA 6 fans have continued to uncover major gameplay details hidden in the game’s second trailer, and one will have major implications for Wanted levels.

Rockstar Games hasn’t revealed much in the way of gameplay info pertaining to GTA 6, instead slowly passing out tidbits of information related to the game’s plot.

However, through the two trailers and screenshots released so far, fans have been able to piece together quite a few details about weapons, vehicles, possible side quests and more.

Article continues after ad

One interesting tidbit was spotted in the second trailer after being undetected for a handful of weeks – and it could end up completely changing how GTA 6 is played compared to other Grand Theft Auto games.

Law enforcement will be more challenging in GTA 6

In a video posted on YouTube, creator Obvious Malcolm pointed to a scene in trailer two where Jason is driving by a group of police officers busting some lawbreakers.

One of the police units doesn’t look like a standard law enforcement vehicle, but it’s not an unmarked car – it’s actually a “ghost” unit.

Basically, the car won’t look like a police vehicle until light shines on it or its sirens are blaring. This means it can blend in with the traffic and could catch players off guard when they’re breaking the law.

So, imagine you’re playing GTA 6 and decide to rob a store, thinking there are no cops around. Well, this car could come swooping in and before you know it, your Wanted level is up because the cops spotted you committing a crime.

Or, if you’re trying to get away from the police, you might think the coast is clear and you were able to evade them, only for one of these “ghost” units to spot you and before you know it, the chase is back on.

Players noted how some of the cars added to GTA Online are like this, but don’t react to light like the one in the GTA 6 trailer.

As we inch closer to GTA VI’s May 26, 2026 release date, expect Rockstar to go in depth with new gameplay features including some long-awaited revamping to the Wanted system.

XRP Death Cross Adds New Twist to Recovery Potential

XRP Death Cross Adds New Twist to Recovery Potential

by admin June 2, 2025

XRP has, in the last seven days, been on a steady downward slope, losing 8.22% in price value. XRP slipped from $2.34 to test the $2.10 support in an apparent continuation of the death cross it slipped into days ago. XRP’s nine-day Simple Moving Average (SMA) has crossed below the longer-term 21-day SMA.

XRP death cross signals trouble, but volume suggests interest

The death cross is generally considered a bearish signal and could have triggered the crashing price of XRP. However, it is not a guaranteed sign that the coin would remain on a downward trajectory, as market sentiment could trigger a reversal.

You Might Also Like

Interestingly, despite the technical indicator with XRP, market participants remain active as trading volume has recorded a significant spike. There has been an 11.72% increase in volume, jumping to $2.01 billion.

Meanwhile, as of press time, the price of XRP was changing hands at $2.15, representing a slight recovery of 0.79% in the last 24 hours.

Technical indicators suggest that if XRP can climb to the critical support of $2.20, the coin might rise above $2.45 soon. The current setup shows increased trading volume, which could indicate increased buyer interest and support a reversal.

The current 9-day SMA and 21-day SMA indicate a short-term bearishness that could quickly reverse if the trading volume and other metrics remain stable. However, if XRP fails to hold above $2.10, it could lead to a further decline.

$3 psychological level still in focus

In the meantime, David Schwartz, Ripple’s CTO, caused a stir in the XRP community with a cryptic post on X.

You Might Also Like

The message has sparked bullish sentiment among traders and investors, as some speculate that this could be a future price prediction.

How the XRP price might react in the coming days remains to be seen. Notably, the $3 price level remains a psychological level at which the coin can move upward.
