Sharing insights on its utilization, he stated that BTC is incredibly useful, especially for multiple computer applications. Given BTC’s unique architecture and the inability to replicate the digital asset, the former Google CEO foresees a wave of individuals and corporations building on the network in the future.

Overall, Schmidt’s acknowledgment outlines how far BTC has come from being a specialized digital experiment to a worldwide recognized financial asset. The asset is currently attracting the interest of tech and finance leaders due to its technological foundation, allowing it to go mainstream.

Bitcoin To Serve Individuals In The Next Decade

With Bitcoin gaining ground in the financial landscape, Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Square, has voiced his conviction in the asset’s long-term potential. According to the Square CEO in an interview with Michael Saylor, the leading crypto asset will continue to serve individuals over the next decade.

Despite being slower than most networks, such as Ethereum, Dorsey believes that this is one of BTC’s key strengths, as it allows for longevity and predictability. Furthermore, it enhances security, better uptime, and usability, placing it ahead of other major chains. 

Dorsey highlighted the potential for BTC to become the major internet currency, and he is confident that the asset will stick around in the long run. By declaring that BTC will serve billions of people in the next decade, the CEO is declaring that the asset is beyond just an investment; rather, it is the foundation of a more transparent and inclusive global financial system.

PC Gaming Legend Wins Steam With Achievement For Buying 40,000 Games

Valve awarded Steam user SonixLegend a special achievement on Tuesday. It’s called the “Game Collector” badge, and it was bestowed upon SonixLegend after they purchased over 40,000 Steam games. As far as we know, they’re the only person to have ever done it. Cool! But also how?

As Gamesradar reports, SonixLegend has a reputation in the Steam community for being the super-user even among super-users. Based in Shanghai, China according to their public records, they’ve been active on Valve’s PC gaming storefront for over a decade and have an account level of 303. They’ve been collecting games for years and it’s finally caught up with them in the form of a new Steam record.

Thanks to places like SteamDB, we can glean all sorts of weird info about SonixLegend’s collection. Technically, they have 97,000 titles in their account, but majority of them are junk that don’t qualify for the achievement. If you were somehow able to magically refund everything in the library at today’s prices, the total catalog would be worth over $640,000. Man, would it suck to lose the password to that account or get banned for breaking Valve’s TOS.

Polygon estimated that it would take over seven years to beat every game in SonixLegend’s collection. But at the rate they’re actually going, that will probably never happen. SonixLegend’s actual favorite game, ironically enough, is a free-to-play co-op shooter called Alien Swarm. It came out back in 2010. They have played it for over 550 hours. They also have over 100 Steam products that cost more than $200 each.

But while SonixLegend is currently winning Steam, they’re hardly the only person gunning for the 40K achievement. A leaderboard shows nearly 20 other Steam users who all have over 30,000 games in their libraries. SonixLegend appears to be in a semi-direct race with at least one in particular who goes by Ian Brandon Anderson. They’re the current runner-up with 39,497 qualifying games. Just, uh, another 533 to take first place. The current value of their library is $542,444. But being the first to 45,000, assuming Valve adds an achievement for that? Priceless.

The money for Gabe Newell’s next yacht has to come from somewhere.

Silksong Achievement Hints At A Much Longer Game

Despite all of the hype, little is known about what’s actually in Hollow Knight: Silksong. Developer Team Cherry has been confidently tight-lipped about all of the secrets hiding inside it’s latest Metroidvania Soulslike. But a list of achievements and trophies for the sequel hints at just how much bigger than the original game it might be. The short answer: a lot.

Before even playing the game you can look at a list of Silksong‘s achievements (or trophies on PlayStation 5). One in particular provides an interesting clue about the larger scope. As Game File‘s Stephen Totilo pointed out on Bluesky, the “speed completion” achievement requires players to hit 100 percent completion in under 30 hours. A similar achievement in the first Hollow Knight only gave players 20 hours. Does that mean Silksong is roughly 33 percent bigger than its predecessor?

Maybe!

 

Mind you, the above achievement is effectively for a 100 percent speedrun, not an average playthrough. Most players have taken around 27 hours to beat Hollow Knight‘s main campaign and up to 64 hours to defeat every boss and find last secret. Assuming Team Cherry is keeping the completionist achievement in Silksong just as difficult to get, we might expect it to take, on average, 10-30 hours longer to do everything there is to do in the game.

While just a speculative guesstimate, the assumption aligns with some of what Team Cherry hinted at in their first and only pre-release interview. When explaining why the sequel took seven years to make, the developers said part of the reason was that they just couldn’t stop themselves from continuing to add new things to Silksong: more towns, NPCs, boss fights, and seemingly many more secrets.

Of course, if you’re a world record Hollow Knight speedrunner like Kyle “LoLNebula” Dodson, you still might be able to 100-percent Silksong in just a few hours. That includes collecting all of the upgrades, charms, and improvements, and fighting lots of bosses multiple times. In fairness Dodson, like lots of other Hollow Knight superfans, has had over eight years to practice.
