Solana price breaks $220 amid ETF buzz, can the rally hold?

by admin October 2, 2025

Solana price is back in an uptrend, posting fresh gains as ETF optimism drives market momentum.

Summary

  • Solana price soars past $220, trading above $225 with a 7.6% daily gain.
  • Industry analysts have placed the approval odds for SOL ETF at 100%.
  • Grayscale’s Solana ETF, set for October 10, is the first in line.
  • RSI and MACD support bullish momentum with the $240–$245 region as a potential target.

Solana price has pushed past the key $220 level, hitting an intraday high of $226.7 as investor sentiment strengthens. At the time of writing, SOL trades at $225.39, marking a 7.62% increase on the daily chart and a 6.86% rise over the past week.

Solana price surges as ETF odds rise to 100%

The daily chart reflects bullish conviction, with a strong candle closing above prior resistance and accompanied by a notable spike in trading volume.

Solana price chart | Source: crypto.news

Technically, SOL’s uptrend appears intact. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) stands at 54.71, signaling bullish momentum with room to run before entering overbought levels. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) is also showing positive signs, with the MACD line nearing a bullish crossover above the signal line.

The ongoing Solana (SOL) price rally comes amid growing optimism surrounding the launch of a Solana exchange-traded fund (ETF). Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas recently raised the odds of a Solana ETF approval to 100%, citing new generic listing standards adopted by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. These streamlined regulations have removed many of the traditional barriers that delay ETF approvals.

First SOL ETF deadline comes up Oct 10

Eight asset managers, including Franklin Templeton, VanEck, and 21Shares, have filed for a SOL ETF with several issuers already submitting revised filings in alignment with the SEC’s new guidelines. The first deadline is Oct 10 for Grayscale’s SOL ETF, while most others are set for Oct 16. If approved, the listing could inject fresh capital and propel Solana price to new highs.

For the rally to continue, buyers will need to overcome immediate resistance at $230, the upper boundary of Solana’s recent trading range. A successful breakout could lead to a climb toward the $240–$245 region, aligning with September’s peak levels.

On the downside, the $220 zone now acts as the first line of support, with stronger demand expected near $210 if profit-taking intensifies. While momentum is clearly building, much of the rally hinges on a SOL ETF approval and sustained market interest.

Litecoin, Stellar Lead Altcoin Rally Following Bitcoin ‘Uptober’ Bounce

by admin October 2, 2025

In brief

  • Litecoin surged 10% to $118, while Stellar gained 9% to $0.40.
  • Short liquidations topped $480 million in 24 hours, as sentiment flips sentiment from fear to greed.
  • Traders are rotating into older coins with Bitcoin rising more than 8% since September 28.

The “Uptober” effect is in full swing.

Kicking off what has historically been Bitcoin’s strongest month, the original crypto has sparked a broad market rally, with capital rotating into older altcoins.

The forceful move has caught many traders off guard, triggering a massive wave of short liquidations and flipping overall market sentiment from fear to greed in a matter of days.

Litecoin has taken the lead among the top cryptocurrencies, surging 10% over the last 24 hours to trade at $118.

Litecoin’s outsized gains come amid hopes of a spot ETF approval, with the Canary Litecoin ETF facing its final Securities and Exchange Commission decision deadline on October 2.

While a U.S. government shutdown continues to weigh on investors’ minds, particularly as delays at the regulator have been put on hold, some are optimistic the issue will be resolved swiftly.

Stellar has followed closely with a 9% gain, reaching $0.40.

“Macroeconomic factors such as the U.S. government shutdown concerns and a drop in private sector employment are pushing investors toward safe-haven assets like Bitcoin and Gold.” Balaji Srihari, Vice President at CoinSwitch, told Decrypt.

As a result, capital is rotating into “dino coins,” Srihari said, referring to the 2017-launched Layer 1 tokens.

That surge has led to short liquidations exceeding $480 million in a 24-hour period, according to CoinGlass data. Compared to just $110 million in long liquidations, the disproportionate culling of bears hints at the magnitude of outsized buying pressure.

As a result, the Crypto Fear and Greed Index has shot up from fear to greed in less than a week, edging 15 points by some measures.

The seasonal uplift is what investors have dubbed “Uptober,” a trend in which Bitcoin and the broader market have historically triggered an uptrend after a typically bearish September.

“‘Uptober’ refers to October’s historical trend as Bitcoin’s strongest month,” explained Srihari. “Seasonality typically favors quarter four, and unlike the usual September weakness, this year Bitcoin ended September in the green, setting a higher base for October gains.”

The world’s largest crypto is up more than 3.5% over the last 24 hours and a further 8% since September 28 after rallying from $109,000 to $118,600 in quick succession.

If Bitcoin continues on this path, “we could see it hitting $140,000 soon,” he said, which could catalyze capital rotation into altcoins, sustaining the market breadth and serving as a tailwind to the ongoing rally.

Dogecoin Traders Eye ‘Golden Cross’ While SHIB Surges 6%

by admin October 2, 2025

Dogecoin ripped nearly 9% higher, breaking through resistance on more than a billion tokens traded. Support reset to $0.242 after an early breakout, while late-session flows pushed DOGE into the $0.254 zone before consolidation.

Traders pointed to SHIB’s parallel 6% rally — underpinned by record trillion-token turnover and exchange balances at two-year lows — as further evidence of institutional accumulation across meme-coins.

News Background

DOGE advanced 8.8% over the 24 hours from Oct. 1, 03:00 to Oct. 2, 02:00, climbing from $0.23 to $0.25. The move was fueled by speculation around U.S. ETF approvals and aggressive institutional positioning.

SHIB also surged 6.2% in the same window, with exchange reserves dropping to multi-year lows, underscoring a reduction in available supply as meme-coins gained broader bid interest.

Price Action Summary

  • DOGE traded a $0.02 corridor, marking 9.3% volatility.
  • Breakout at 08:00 drove price from $0.234 to $0.242 on 1.03B tokens — 4x the average.
  • Intraday highs stretched to $0.249 and $0.253 before sellers capped at $0.254.
  • Final hour saw DOGE climb from $0.248 to $0.254 on back-to-back 40M+ surges, settling near $0.252.

Technical Analysis

Support has shifted to $0.242 following the breakout, with resistance hardened at $0.254–$0.255. The session carved an ascending triangle, validated by higher lows and sustained turnover.

Technical desks noted Golden Cross signals across majors, reinforcing bullish momentum. Analysts flagged a decisive break above $0.255 as opening a path toward $0.32 — with ETF-driven flows providing the catalyst.

What Traders Are Watching?

  • Whether DOGE can flip $0.25 into firm support and push toward $0.32.
  • If ETF speculation continues to underpin both DOGE and SHIB into October deadlines.
  • SHIB’s exchange supply squeeze — at two-year lows — as a potential tailwind for meme-coin rotation.
  • CD20 index reaction after both DOGE (+9%) and SHIB (+6%) posted outsized moves on heavy turnover.

Bloomberg Explains $11 Trillion Behemoth Vanguard’s Possible Crypto Pivot

by admin October 2, 2025

During a recent appearance on Bloomberg TV, reporter Isabelle Lee explained Vanguard’s possible pro-crypto pivot, clarifying that it is still unclear whether the $11 trillion financial behemoth will end up offering cryptocurrency products on its platform.

“It’s not a ‘yes’ yet, but it’s not a ‘no’ anymore,” she said while commenting on her recent reporting.

Lee recalled how former Vanguard CEO Tim Buckley claimed that the company would never add Bitcoin funds.

John Bogle, the late founder of the financial titan, previously stated that Bitcoin should be avoided “like the plague,” arguing that the cryptocurrency’s value depends entirely on the level of speculative demand.

Hence, the fact that Vanguard is even considering changing its tune on crypto is a significant change.

Lee has stressed that Vanguard investors who want to buy Bitcoin ETFs do not want to use other platforms, and there is growing demand for these products. The financial titan is now “opening the window” a little.

Influence of new CEO

As reported by U.Today, Salim Ramji, Vanguard’s recently appointed CEO, helped to launch BlackRock’s highly successful iShares Bitcoin ETF (IBIT).

The astounding success of this product might now be too hard for BlackRock to ignore, which has prompted the recent move.

Lee believes that Ramji might have played a role in this since he has expressed openness to blockchain and Bitcoin. “He’s the first outsider ever to become the CEO of Vanguard…” she noted.

That said, the new Vanguard CEO previously rejected the idea of launching a Bitcoin ETF shortly after his appointment.

World Liberty Financial’s (WLFI) Roadmap: A Debit Card And Tokenized Assets On The Horizon

by admin October 2, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

The Trump family’s decentralized finance (DeFi) platform, World Liberty Financial (WLFI), is poised to introduce two new products aimed at investors, capitalizing on the fast-growing sector of tokenization and a new debit card solution.

World Liberty Financial To Launch Debit Card Pilot Program

During a presentation at the Token 2049 conference in Singapore, World Liberty Financial’s CEO, Zach Witkoff, shared these developments alongside co-founder Donald Trump Jr., highlighting the company’s commitment to bridging cryptocurrency with everyday transactions.

Witkoff revealed that the forthcoming debit card, designed to facilitate crypto asset spending in daily life, is set to enter a pilot program in the next quarter, with a launch anticipated either in the fourth quarter of this year or the first quarter of 2026.

This announcement follows previous hints from Zak Folkman, World Liberty Financial’s co-founder, about a debit card and retail application during Korea Blockchain Week 2025, although the details of the consumer app remain under wraps for now.

In addition to the debit card, Witkoff emphasized the company’s focus on the tokenization of real-world assets (RWAs). “We’ve not only thought about it, we’re actively working on it,” he stated, noting that assets such as oil, gas, cotton, and timber could benefit from being traded on-chain.

As part of its roadmap, the firm also introduced a stablecoin called USD1. Since its launch, USD1 has rapidly ascended to become the fifth-largest stablecoin globally, boasting a market capitalization of approximately $2.7 billion.

USD1’s Role Amid Political Scrutiny

In response to President Donald Trump being scrutinized by Democratic lawmakers in the US, Donald Trump Jr. emphasized the venture and USD1’s role in supporting US treasuries and maintaining the dollar’s global dominance. He stated:

We’re flying to every single corner of this globe, convincing people to onboard to USD1, which, in effect, convinces those people to go buy US Treasuries, and it’s great for the US dollar.

WLFI also announced plans to expand the USD1 stablecoin onto the Aptos (APT) blockchain. Despite facing challenges, including subdued demand on centralized exchanges (CEXs), the stablecoin has gained traction on decentralized platforms, although concerns remain regarding liquidity concentration among a few major wallets.

In August of this year, World Liberty Financial revealed a partnership with the technology firm ALT5 Sigma. As part of a treasury strategy, ALT5 Sigma will acquire substantial amounts of WLFI tokens, following Strategy’s (formerly MicroStrategy) acquisition of Bitcoin.

On Wednesday, WLFI posted gains of 2%, reaching the $0.200 mark, which has proven to be a major obstacle for the token’s price, as it has been unable to surpass this level for several days.

Hedera price Elliot wave points to a surge ahead of HBAR ETF decision

by admin October 2, 2025

Hedera price drifted upward on Wednesday, Oct. 1, as the crypto market rebounded and as traders waited for the upcoming crypto ETF season.

Summary

  • Hedera price has moved to the second phase of the Elliot Wave pattern.
  • It also formed a double-bottom pattern on the daily chart.
  • The coin will likely bounce back ahead of the spot  HBAR ETF approval.

Hedera (HBAR) token rose slightly to $0.2200 from the September low of $0.2050. It remains 27% below the highest level this year.

Hedera price technical analysis signals to a rebound

The daily timeframe chart shows that the HBAR price formed a double-bottom pattern at $0.2050, its lowest level on Sept. 5 and 26. This pattern had a neckline at $0.2552.

Most importantly, the coin has formed a falling wedge pattern, which often leads to a strong bullish breakout. The lowest point of this wedge is between the 50% and 61.8% Fibonacci retracement levels. This wedge is also part of the second phase of the Elliott Wave pattern. The first wave happened between June 24 and July 26, when the token jumped by 140%.

Therefore, the coin will likely move to the third phase, which is usually the longest and the most bullish.

The first target will be the year-to-date high of $0.3065, which is about 40% above the current level. A move above that level will point to more upside, potentially to last November’s highest point at $0.4000.

The bullish HBAR price forecast will become invalid if the coin drops below the double-bottom point at $0.2050.

HBAR price chart | Source: crypto.news

HBAR to benefit from the crypto ETF season

Eric Balchunas, the senior ETF analyst at Bloomberg, believes that the crypto ETF season is starting as the Securities and Exchange Commission prepares to approve or deny more than 70 applications.

The agency has already provided listing standards for these ETFs, raising the possibility that many of them will be approved soon.

Hedera is one of the cryptocurrencies that will benefit from the ETF season, as the SEC has been reviewing the Grayscale Hedera ETF since 2024, and the final deadline will be in November.

Chances are that the approval will happen earlier than that, especially if it approves other ETFs whose deadline is coming up soon. HBAR will likely continue rising ahead of the ETF approval as investors anticipate more demand from American investors.

Senator Accuses Crypto Billionaire of Dodging Puerto Rico Tax Evasion Investigation

by admin October 2, 2025

In brief

  • Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) alleged Wednesday that Pantera Capital founder Dan Morehead may have used Puerto Rican residency to improperly dodge U.S. taxes, and has avoided cooperating with an investigation into the matter for months.
  • In a letter sent this week, Wyden said Morehead’s attorneys “have all but disappeared” since pledging to cooperate with the inquiry in January.
  • Meanwhile, Pantera has greatly expanded its crypto footprint, including by launching a $1.25 billion Solana treasury company on Wall Street.

The top Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee has accused a prominent crypto investor of refusing to cooperate with an investigation into an alleged billion-dollar tax evasion scheme running through one of the digital asset community’s most popular enclaves: Puerto Rico.

Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) first opened an investigation into the finances of Pantera Capital founder Dan Morehead in January, as part of a broader inquiry into how “ultra-high net worth” Americans have used Puerto Rican residency as a means to obtain lucrative tax exemptions.

Wyden had not previously publicly announced that investigation until now, however. This week, the senator blasted Morehead in a published letter accusing the hedge fund manager and crypto investor of refusing to cooperate with the Senate’s investigation into his finances.

“While your attorneys initially suggested to my staff you were willing to cooperate with this inquiry, they have all but disappeared,” Wyden wrote, “heightening my concerns that you may have improperly avoided over $100 million dollars in federal taxes on capital gains that accrued while you still lived in San Francisco.”

The letter, sent to Morehead on Tuesday, said the crypto-focused venture capitalist may have received improper tax counsel which led him to obtain Puerto Rican residency shortly before earning hundreds of millions of dollars on the sale of a large Pantera position, and then declare that income exempt from U.S. taxes.

Wyden argued this was an incorrect interpretation of Puerto Rican tax law, which he said requires new residents of the island territory to pay U.S. taxes on such transactions for 10 years following their move.

“These are serious allegations of potential abuse of Puerto Rico tax incentives to avoid the payment of U.S. taxes that you must immediately address,” Wyden wrote.

Morehead did not respond to Decrypt’s request for comment on this story.

As the Trump administration has moved aggressively to create favorable conditions for crypto companies and investors, Morehead’s Pantera Capital has spun up several new ventures to take advantage of the moment.

The firm has spent hundreds of millions of dollars investing in Wall Street-traded digital asset treasury companies, which have taken off in popularity this year amidst promises of lucrative, risky returns. It recently launched a $1.25 billion effort to convert a publicly traded neurotechnology company into a massive Solana treasury.

Earlier this week, the company, Helius Medical Technologies—which once created medical devices designed to improve the lives of people with neurological diseases—formally changed its name to Solana Company. Tabs on the company’s website titled “Our Technology” and “Our Research” appear to have been deactivated.

Top Democrat Escalates Probe Into Pantera Founder Morehead’s Taxes

by admin October 2, 2025

U.S. Senator Ron Wyden, the top Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, is continuing his inquiry into whether Dan Morehead, the founder of asset manager Pantera Capital, sought to avoid paying taxes through his move to Puerto Rico.

Wyden’s probe into whether Morehead committed tax evasion began in January, and is focused on how the Pantera founder reported taxes on his share of proceeds after a large crypto sale by the firm. According to a press release, Wyden is specifically looking at whether Morehead “misrepresent[ed] his residency status” when Pantera generated over $1 billion in capital gains from crypto sales by claiming his profits from the sale came while he was in Puerto Rico. Residents of the U.S. territory do not pay income tax on capital gains.

“It is my understanding your share of these gains … was hundreds of millions of dollars,” Wyden said in the letter, sent on Wednesday. “It is also my understanding that you treated the entire [gain] as exempt from U.S. tax, even though the lion’s share of these gains accrued while you still resided in California. These are serious allegations of potential abuse of Puerto Rico tax incentives to avoid the payment of U.S. taxes that you must immediately address.”

Wyden’s letter alleged that Morehead’s attorneys “have all but disappeared” despite initially engaging with his staff. He also said in the letter that he believes Morehead was advised by Jeffrey Rubinger, a Miami-based attorney who advised another client who “recently pled guilty to a tax fraud scheme” tied to the same Puerto Rico tax rules.

A Pantera spokesperson referred CoinDesk to a previous statement from Morehead, when he told the New York Times in a statement earlier this year that, “I believe I acted appropriately with respect to my taxes.”

Wyden’s probe does not carry the full weight of an investigation by the Senate Finance Committee at the moment, given Democrats are the minority party in the Senate and committee Chair Mike Crapo — the top Republican on the committee — does not appear to have joined in the inquiry at this time.

Wyden’s letter came the same day the Senate Finance Committee held a hearing on crypto tax issues specifically. Witnesses at the hearing warned that the IRS may soon face a deluge of tax reporting.

Ripple Kicks Off ‘Uptober’ with New RLUSD Mint

by admin October 1, 2025

Enterprise blockchain firm Ripple has minted an additional 1.8 million RLUSD tokens on the XRP Ledger.

The company’s previous minting event took place on Sept. 27 on the Ethereum network, resulting in the creation of 8 million tokens.

This is the first RLUSD mint that takes place on the XRP Ledger since Sept. 24.

Meanwhile, the market cap of RLUSD is now steadily approaching the $800 million mark, currently sitting at roughly $798 million.

Expanding into Africa

In the meantime, Ripple recently made an announcement about its stablecoin expanding into Africa. The product will be embedded into existing financial rails with the help of such partners as Chipper Cash and Yellow Card.

The collaboration is meant to solve such issues as expensive remittances, high inflation experienced by local fiat currencies, limited banking access, and low efficiency of traditional financial channels.

The RLUSD stablecoin will help to ensure affordability and higher speed.

First Deloitte-backed attention report

In other news, as reported by U.Today, Ripple recently published the first attestation report for the RLUSD stablecoin backed by “Big Four” accounting giant Deloitte.

Jack McDonald, Ripple’s stablecoin head, recently took to stress that Ripple is committed to holding the stablecoin to “the highest” regulatory standards.

New exchange listings

As reported by U.Today, the RLUSD token recently got listed on the Bybit exchange, which gives the token significant global exposure.

Meanwhile, Budget, another global exchange that is popular with XRP traders, recently added some new RLUSD pairs.

Bitcoin Spot Liquidity Shrinks: Stablecoin NetFlows Turn Negative Despite ETF Inflows

by admin October 1, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

Bitcoin is pressing higher, pushing above the $115,000 level and edging closer to critical resistance. Momentum has returned to the market, with many traders anticipating a bullish move that could test all-time highs and extend the ongoing bull trend. Optimism is building as Bitcoin’s resilience at elevated levels fuels speculation of another aggressive breakout.

However, not all analysts are convinced that the path ahead is clear. Some caution that risks remain beneath the surface, pointing to worrying signals from liquidity data. Top analyst Axel Adler shared fresh insights showing that the average Stablecoin NetFlow to centralized exchanges has gone negative and has been declining since September 22. This trend suggests that fewer stablecoins are entering exchanges to provide spot liquidity, even as Bitcoin trades at elevated prices.

Stablecoin CEX Netflow | Source: Axel Adler

Declining liquidity can weaken market structure and increase vulnerability to sharper moves, particularly if selling pressure resurfaces. While ETF inflows and strong institutional demand continue to support Bitcoin, the imbalance between reduced stablecoin flows and rising price levels highlights a fragile dynamic. For bulls, holding above $115,000 is essential, but the market’s next phase will depend on whether liquidity returns to sustain a lasting rally.

ETF Inflows Support Bitcoin, But Uptober Needs More Fuel

Top analyst Axel Adler noted that institutional flows remain one of the strongest factors supporting Bitcoin’s price at current levels. Over the last couple of days, ETFs recorded inflows of $947 million, a sizable addition of fresh capital that has provided critical support for the market. These inflows demonstrate that institutional demand for Bitcoin remains robust, even as broader liquidity indicators, such as stablecoin flows, show signs of weakness.

Adler emphasized, however, that while ETF inflows are encouraging, they are not yet sufficient to power a full-fledged Uptober rally. Historically, October has been one of Bitcoin’s strongest months, often marked by outsized gains and aggressive breakouts. But for that momentum to unfold again, Adler argues that the market needs broader confirmation, including stronger spot flows and renewed liquidity entering exchanges. Without that added layer of support, rallies risk losing steam against persistent resistance levels, such as the $117,500 zone that has capped upside moves since the summer.

The timing adds to the importance. With Q4 now underway, investors are looking ahead to what could be a defining stretch for Bitcoin’s bull trend. A breakout above resistance, paired with sustained inflows, would fuel optimism of retesting all-time highs. On the other hand, failure to gather momentum could prolong consolidation and keep traders cautious.

Bitcoin Tests $117,500 Resistance as Q4 Begins

Bitcoin is trading around $116,200, showing strength after recovering from lows near $112,000 earlier this month. On the 3-day chart, price action reveals a series of rebounds that continue to press against the $117,500 resistance zone, highlighted in yellow. This level has been a defining barrier since July, repeatedly rejecting attempts to break higher and marking it as the key level to watch heading into Q4.

BTC reaching critical resistance | Source: BTCUSDT chart on TradingView

The structure still reflects consolidation within a broad range, with $110,000 acting as a firm support base. Meanwhile, the 50-period moving average (blue) is providing short-term guidance, showing Bitcoin holding above it for the first time since the September pullback. The 100-period (green) and 200-period (red) averages remain comfortably below spot price, reinforcing the long-term bullish trend.

For momentum to continue, Bitcoin must decisively clear $117,500 and hold above it, which could open the path toward $120,000 and eventually retests of the summer highs near $125,000. Failure to break out, however, risks extending the consolidation phase, with downside targets at $112,000 and $110,000 once again coming into play.
