BitDigital Becomes First Public Ethereum DAT To Deploy Unsecured Leverage – Details

by admin October 5, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

BitDigital (NASDAQ: BTBT) is breaking new ground in finance, becoming the first publicly traded Ethereum DAT to deploy unsecured leverage. The move is an evolution in how public blockchain companies raise capital, blending traditional debt instruments with decentralized infrastructure models.

Why This Move Redefines Capital Formation For Ethereum DATs

In an X post, BitDigital_BTBT revealed that the company has made history as the first publicly traded Ethereum Digital Asset Treasury (DAT) to deploy unsecured leverage through a convertible notes offering, marking a new milestone in blockchain-based corporate finance. The latest move by the financial behemoth will be beneficial to the company shareholders.

However, this initiative will enhance capital efficiency for shareholders, without immediate dilution notes due in October 2030. The proceeds will be used to acquire ETH, expand BitDigital’s treasury, and increase institutional staking capacity.

This strategic financing deepens BitDigital’s exposure to ETH, while positioning the asset as a programmable treasury instrument capable of generating institution-grade staking yield. By leveraging traditional debt structures within a decentralized framework, BitDigital reinforces its leadership in ETH-native treasury management and staking strategies. The move also signals ETH’s advanced role in institutional finance, bridging the gap between Web3 infrastructure and legacy capital markets.

Amid the growing exposure to Ethereum, multiple potential projects are being consistently launched on the leading chain. Kriptoloji, an ambassador at Irys_xyz, points out that their restaking design project’s focus isn’t on flashy incentive yields, but on building genuine utility and layering right on top of ETH’s ecosystem. Kriptoloji noted that most projects in DeFi tend to chase the same hype cycles and loops, but Ekoxofficial is building something different with this move. Instead of creating another yield, it aims to make network participation more seamless, efficient, and sustainable.

Meanwhile, the early indicators suggest that a well-received testnet, growing momentum from the Arichain collaboration, and a pipeline of upcoming integrations are starting to establish the foundation for credibility as a long-term infrastructure play rather than a fleeting experiment. “This is not financial advice, but the way they are structuring it’s definitely something worth paying attention to.” Kriptoloji mentioned.

Institutional Adoption Strengthens ETH Long-Term Outlook

Ethereum is still very much recognized at the institutional level. Goldman Sachs’ latest report reveals a powerful trend unfolding as institutional investors are deepening their involvement with ETH, with over $3.5 trillion in assets under management (AUM) now linked to the ecosystem.

This level of exposure highlights the ETH transformation from a speculative blockchain into a critical layer of institutional-grade infrastructure. According to Crypto Patel, Elite KOL CoinMarketCap and Binance, this institutional pivot is one of the strongest bullish signals for ETH’s future.

Defiance Proposes 3X Leveraged Exposure on Bitcoin, Ethereum Funds and Crypto Stocks

by admin October 4, 2025

In brief

  • The Defiance prospectus covers proposals for 49 ETFs offering three times leveraged long and short exposure.
  • The offerings include products focused on Coinbase, BitMine Immersion, Strategy, and ETFs tracking the prices of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana.
  • Defiance already offers a number of two times leveraged funds for Strategy and Robinhood, among other firms.

An asset manager known for exchange-traded funds geared toward risk-embracing investors wants to ratchet up the possibilities for these thrill-seekers, filing an application for 49 funds offering three times long and short leveraged exposure to tech and crypto-focused firms, gold, and ETFs that individually track the price of Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana, among other assets.

The Defiance Investments’ N-1A prospectus filed Friday with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission includes proposals for the 3X leveraged and inverse leveraged ETFs for crypto exchange giant Coinbase, Bitcoin treasury MicroStrategy, brokerage Robinhood, Ethereum treasury BitMine Immersion, and USDC stablecoin issuer Circle. It also aims to provide similar exposure to Grayscale’s Bitcoin and Ethereum mini-trust ETFs, and Volatility Shares’ Solana ETF.

Defiance and other firms already offer a number two times leveraged ETFs that are geared toward short-term investors, asking them to speculate on the one-day direction of certain stocks, many of them in the technology sector.

The company’s current offerings include the Daily Target 2X Long MSTR ETF (MSTX) and Daily Target 2X Long HOOD (HOOX), which seek results that are two times the daily share price change of Strategy and Robinhood.

Three times leveraged funds are far rarer, with many observers of the space doubting that issuers would try to introduce more of these products, which can become a bad bet if the underlying asset veers in an unexpected direction. The prospectus itself warns repeatedly that the various funds proposed may not be right for all investors.

“Things are getting wild,” Bloomberg ETF Analyst James Seyffart quipped in a Friday X post on the Defiance offerings.

Still, the proposal with its crypto-focused products dovetails with issuers’ growing efforts to address investor demand for funds based on digital assets. On Friday, LeverageShares and Themes Trust included 3X long and short funds focused on COIN and HOOD among 14 ETFs in its proposal to the SEC.

As of late August, the regulator was weighing more than 90 ETFs tracking individual tokens, combinations of coins, and different strategies. Those applications, which once seemed unlikely, followed the raging success of spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, with the BTC funds alone now commanding about $150 billion in assets, according to data from analytics platform CoinGlass.

In a text to Decrypt, ETF.com Senior ETF Analyst Sumit Roy noted market concern about 3X funds and their potential limited audience.

“The conventional wisdom was that the SEC was only going to allow 2X leverage going forward, but these filings suggest that it may be willing to allow more volatile products to hit the market,” Roy wrote. “If they launch, these would be extremely risky funds designed for the most aggressive short-term traders.”

Here Are 5 Token Picks for ‘Uptober’, According to BTG’s Crypto Arm Mynt

by admin October 4, 2025

Brazil’s largest investment bank, BTG Pactual’s crypto platform Mynt, has flagged five cryptocurrencies it believes are well-positioned for gains in October: bitcoin BTC$122,329.29, ether ETH$4,490.26, solana SOL$228.23, AVAX$30.17, and sky (SKY).

The picks, outlined in a report authored by Matheus Parizotto and João Galhardo, reflect a broader optimism in the crypto market as U.S. interest rates ease and anticipation builds for new crypto ETFs.

Bitcoin remains the dominant institutional pick, with more than $3.5 billion flowing into spot ETFs in September and corporate treasuries adding 43,000 BTC, over $5 billion at current prices.

Mynt’s report describes it as a long-term anchor. “For those seeking a long-term pillar in their portfolio, BTC offers liquidity, network security, and a track record of adoption that extends beyond retail investors,” it reads.

Ether, it says, continues to lead in on-chain finance. BTG Pactual’s team pointed out the network concentrates the majority of stablecoin volume and real-world asset tokenization projects.

Over the last six months, U.S. spot ETFs added $11.3 billion in ETH, while corporate treasuries picked up 816,000 ETH in September alone. To the analysts, these flows show institutional appetite remains elevated.

Beyond the top two

Solana’s case hinges on speed and cost. The network, BTG Pactual pointed out, processed over $100 billion in decentralized exchange (DEX) volume for the third straight month, while its total value locked surpassed $30 billion for the first time in a sign of deepening DeFi liquidity.

The analysts added that institutional demand has been increasing with the potential arrival of new spot SOL ETFs, which could lead to greater flows and visibility.

“For those seeking exposure to high-performance infrastructure with growing adoption in real-world cases, Solana combines scale, competitive cost, and an accelerating network effect,” the report reads.

For AVAX, BTG Pactual highlighted its sharp growth in on-chain activity, noting that daily transactions increased by 46% and stablecoin transfers rose by 421% over the last quarter.

The network’s subnet architecture allows enterprises to spin up custom blockchains, boosting real-world use cases, it said.

Sky Protocol, the rebranded MakerDAO, rounds out the list. Its stablecoin, USDS, has a circulating supply of nearly $8 billion, and its Sky Savings Rate offers a variable return that’s currently at 4.75%.

Coupled with a token buyback program that’s already deployed $77 million, the report is positioning SKY as a revenue-generating DeFi token with long-term potential.

Stripe’s USDC Transfers Exceed $100 Million on Polygon, Base, Ethereum

by admin October 4, 2025

  • Stripe hits $100 million in USDC transfers across Polygon, Ethereum, Base
  • More and more corporations join stablecoin race

Stripe, a leading global fintech company, hit an all-time high in USDC stablecoin transfers. In September 2025 alone, the platform processed over $17 million in USDC via three blockchains, with Polygon (POL) outshining Ethereum (ETH).

Stripe hits $100 million in USDC transfers across Polygon, Ethereum, Base

Stripe’s Global Financial Accounts service eclipsed a cumulative $100 million in transfers via the USDC stablecoin. This massive amount was processed on three blockchains: Polygon (POL), Ethereum (ETH) and Base.

Such results were shared by Alex Obchakevich, seasoned cryptocurrency researcher and investor, with his 64.5K followers on X yesterday, Oct. 3, 2025.

In September 2025, the platform set a new all-time high in terms of stablecoin rails’ usage. Stripe transmitted $17 million in USDC coins. Since May 2025, Polygon (POL) has been processing more value than Ethereum (ETH), the Dune dashboard by Obchakevich says.

In total, Polygon (POL) was responsible for $51 million in equivalent, Ethereum (ETH) processed $48 million, while Base totaled $3 million.

The service is available in over 100 countries and territories globally. Paxos, a U.S. fintech heavyweight, is handling the technical side of the integration.

More and more corporations join stablecoin race

In 2025, more and more Web2 digital payment systems are exploring the opportunities of stablecoins. Last week, PayPal launched Aave incentives for its PYUSD stablecoin.

As covered by U.Today previously, Ripple president Monica Long named TradFis integrating stablecoins as one of the hottest trends of 2025.

You Might Also Like

While such integrations are associated with some technical and regulatory challenges, they definitely contribute to the adoption of stablecoins.

The aggregated supply of stablecoins is sitting at $310 billion as of press time.

Coinbase, Samsung Alliance Deepens: Galaxy Wallet To Allow Direct Crypto Purchase

by admin October 4, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

Consumer electronics giant Samsung has broadened its partnership with cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, enabling Galaxy smartphone users to purchase crypto directly to their wallets.

Coinbase Integrates Samsung Pay On Platform

On Friday, October 3, US-based cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase announced the expansion of its partnership with Samsung. This renewed collaboration will grant Galaxy smartphone users in the United States direct access to crypto through its Coinbase One program.

According to the exchange’s website, Coinbase One is a membership program for crypto users, offering zero trading fees, boosted staking rewards, priority support, exclusive partner deals, and account protection for lost fund restoration due to unauthorized third-party access.

Additionally, this partnership expansion includes the integration of Samsung Pay on the crypto trading platform. The announcement revealed that this will allow Samsung Galaxy smartphone users to interact with cryptocurrencies and other blockchain services.

Coinbase’s Chief Business Officer Shan Aggarwal said in a statement:

Together with Samsung, we’re pairing their global scale with Coinbase’s trusted platform to deliver the best value for people to access crypto — starting with more than 75 million of Galaxy users across the U.S., and soon around the world.

The growing partnership between Coinbase, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the United States, and Samsung is a hallmark sign of the ongoing shift in the US crypto landscape. Following the election of President Donald Trump in November 2024, the improved regulatory clarity has afforded crypto companies the freedom to push for further expansion.

Coinbase Revenue To Improve In Q3 2025?

The improving crypto climate in the US has not particularly translated to increased revenue growth for Coinbase. According to the shareholder report released in August, the crypto exchange recorded a revenue growth of just 3% in the year’s second quarter, its lowest in recent years.

These revenue growth numbers were not only low by the company’s standards but also lagged behind industry performance. For instance, Kraken registered an 18% jump in crypto revenues, while Robinhood posted almost a 100% increase.

Investors will be looking forward to the revenue report of the recently concluded third quarter, as it is likely to impact the crypto company’s shares. Coinbase shares (with the ticker COIN) witnessed a sharp drop in value following the release of the second-quarter revenue report.

As of this writing, COIN is trading at around 380.02, reflecting an over 2% jump in the past 24 hours. According to recent market data, the stock’s value has increased by more than 53% year-to-date.

Jobs report in limbo, but Q4 could be stellar for crypto

by admin October 4, 2025

A crucial catalyst for the crypto market was supposed to be Friday’s U.S. non-farm payrolls data, but that’s now in limbo due to the government shutdown, which is currently in its fourth day.

Summary

  • The crypto market would have reacted to the upcoming U.S. non-farm payrolls data.
  • Some top coins like Zora, Optimism, and EigenLayer will have token unlocks.
  • This week marks the start of the fourth quarter, which is the best one for cryptocurrencies.

Economists polled by Reuters expect the report to show the economy added 39,000 jobs in September, up from 22,000 in August. The unemployment rate is expected to hold steady at 4.3%.

This labor market report will be critical for the crypto market, as it could influence the Federal Reserve’s next interest rate decision. A weaker jobs report would be bullish for cryptocurrencies, as it would increase the likelihood of a rate cut at the Fed’s next meeting.

Several Fed officials—including Raphael Bostic, Jerome Powell, and Austan Goolsbee—have recently expressed caution about cutting rates too soon, citing persistent inflation. Therefore, disappointing job numbers would strengthen the case for easing.

Major Token Unlocks

The market was also watching for several significant token unlocks this week. According to data from DeFi Llama, unlocks totaled around $280 million.

  • Zora, a popular token on the Base blockchain: $9.35 million worth of tokens, or 4.6% of its circulating supply.
  • Sui: $174 million worth of tokens, equivalent to 1.5% of its float.
  • Other notable unlocks included tokens from EigenLayer, Immutable X, Orderly, and Optimism.

Start of Q4 — Historically Bullish

Data from CoinGlass shows that Bitcoin’s average return in Q4 since 2013 is 85%, with a median return of 52%. Ethereum, since 2016, has posted an average Q4 return of 23%.

Given the recent market correction, the seasonal trend could support a potential rebound.

Looking ahead, the fourth quarter brings several key events that could drive prices higher. These includ

Together, these catalysts set the stage for a potentially strong finish to the year in the crypto market.

What Happens to Crypto if Government Shutdown Lingers

What Happens to Crypto if Government Shutdown Lingers

by admin October 4, 2025

The U.S. government shut down this past Wednesday, furloughing any federal employees deemed non-essential and forcing the rest to work without pay (though they should receive backpay when the government is formally funded again). If the government reopens within the next few weeks, it shouldn’t have too much of an effect on D.C.’s crypto policymaking. The longer the shutdown stretches, however, the more delayed crypto efforts will be.

You’re reading State of Crypto, a CoinDesk newsletter looking at the intersection of cryptocurrency and government. Click here to sign up for future editions.

The narrative

The government shut down on Wednesday, and at least as of press time, Democrats and Republicans do not appear to be close to a deal to reopen it.

Why it matters

As discussed in last week’s newsletter, the immediate effects of the shutdown are pretty straightforward: Market structure legislation will likely be delayed, federal agencies’ rulemaking will probably be delayed, and new spot crypto exchange-traded funds will not launch as many hoped in the coming days.

If the shutdown is just a few days — or potentially as long as two weeks — these efforts should resume pretty seamlessly. If the shutdown goes beyond that, the picture becomes much muddier.

Breaking it down

The longest U.S. government shutdown in history took place between December 2018 and January 2019, during President Donald Trump’s first term. At the time, Democrats controlled the House of Representatives while Republicans controlled the Senate. This latest shutdown is only a few days old as of press time, and could last just a few days or may stretch on further.

Perhaps the most immediate and tangible effect of the government shutdown on crypto issues is on exchange-traded funds. The Securities and Exchange Commission was expected to allow ETFs tracking the prices of assets like Solana SOL$225.07 and LTC$118.36 to launch this past week. While there was some movement last week and Monday, the clock ran out before all of the final paperwork could be pushed through, and the issuers have not yet been able to launch.

The SEC was able to finalize a pair of no-action letters prior to the shutdown as well. Other agencies, like the IRS, were similarly able to publish interim guidance prior to the shutdown.

Ron Hammond, head of Policy and Advocacy at Wintermute, told CoinDesk that, “It can’t be understated how busy the crypto policy developments have been.”

With the shutdown, policymakers are in limbo around these types of regulatory actions, he said.

On the legislative front, one individual familiar with the dynamics in Washington, D.C. said that they do not expect the timeline for market structure legislation to change much should the shutdown end within the next two weeks or so. While lawmakers are looking to hold a possible markup — a hearing where lawmakers debate bills before potentially voting to advance them to the full Senate (or House) — by Oct. 20, 2025, this seems unlikely, regardless of when the shutdown ends, given they are still working on the text of the bill.

Another individual familiar with these dynamics said an additional complicating factor for lawmakers and their staffers is the fact that the regulatory agencies they might consult with are currently furloughed, so the lawmakers writing the market structure bill won’t be able to receive feedback or answers to any questions they might have for these federal regulators.

Hammond said that December “is still feasible” for moving legislation through Congress at the moment.

“The longer this shutdown drags on, the more partisan bitterness seeps into the necessary bipartisan discourse on important topics like crypto market structure,” Hammond said. “Still, this shutdown drama isn’t affecting our calculus on odds of market structure legislation chances of passing being more probable than not before the 2026 election ramps up.”

Hammond said he was watching to see if a markup in the Senate Banking and Agriculture Committees by Thanksgiving.

This week

  • There are no hearings or events being held by lawmakers this week around crypto.

XRP Ledger: Ripple Exec Reveals Institutional Playbook

by admin October 4, 2025

In the second episode of RippleX’s Onchain Economy series, RippleX Product Director Jazzi Cooper unveils the blueprint for institutional finance on-chain.

Cooper details three core features of XRP Ledger, including multipurpose tokens (MPTs), a permissioned DEX and a native lending protocol, regarded as the blueprint for institutional finance on-chain.

The future of DeFi isn’t just about decentralization; it’s about credit, compliance, and confidentiality at scale.

Episode 2 of the Onchain Economy series just dropped, and @jazzicoop details 3 core features of the XRPL:
↳ Multi-Purpose Tokens (MPTs)
↳ Permissioned DEX
↳… pic.twitter.com/Je84HOBAtP

— RippleX (@RippleXDev) October 3, 2025

According to the RippleX product director, XRP Ledger already has payment capabilities (obviously essential for cross border payments), but in a bid to replicate traditional finance or bring more use cases onto the blockchain, the need for credit origination remains clear, with XRPL’s approach a little bit different than typical DeFi ecosystems.

MPTs

Multipurpose tokens (MPTs) went live on the XRP Ledger mainnet this week. MPT is a new native token standard designed to make issuing real-world assets on-chain far simpler, safer and more aligned with how financial institutions operate.

MPTs are created with compliance controls built in so that issuers can enforce KYC/AML, freeze or claw back assets if required, add metadata like bond terms or reserve attestations and manage distribution securely with multi-sig and escrow.

Permissioned DEX and domains

According to Cooper, the permissioned DEX is a neat feature that builds on a couple of different capabilities of XRP Ledger. Permissioned DEX extends XRPL’s decentralized exchange into regulated contexts, enabling secondary markets for RWAs or FX with full AML/KYC controls.

Permissioned domains allow markets to gate participation based on credentials, creating user-controlled environments. According to Cooper, permission domains basically allow users to create a ring fence around a protocol on XRPL to add in various compliance features.

Lending protocol

Cooper spoke about a new lending protocol coming to XRP Ledger, which will allow for credit origination on-chain. The launch of XRPL’s native lending protocol is expected in XRPL version 3.0.0 release later this year.

This protocol, defined in the XLS-65/66 specifications, introduces pooled lending and underwritten credit directly at the ledger level.
