Strategy Investors Drop Lawsuit Over Bitcoin Profitability Promises

by admin August 30, 2025

In brief

  • Investors have dropped a class-action lawsuit against Bitcoin giant Strategy, which accused the company of misleading shareholders about how new accounting rules would affect its profitability.
  • The case centered on Strategy’s switch to fair value accounting, which let it mark Bitcoin’s price swings on its balance sheet.
  • Critics said the firm overstated how much this change would boost earnings. Despite Bitcoin’s recent surge, Strategy reported a $4.22 billion loss in early 2025, sparking backlash.

Investors in Bitcoin behemoth Strategy have dismissed a class-action lawsuit against the company for allegedly making false and misleading statements about its profitability.

The suit was initially filed in May, accusing the company—famous for pivoting from software development into a full-time strategy of Bitcoin accumulation—of misleading investors about the impact new crypto accounting practices would have on its profitability.

This year, Strategy, which currently owns over $68 billion worth of BTC, switched to a fair value accounting standard that allowed it to record quarter-to-quarter swings in the price of held Bitcoin on its balance sheets.

Previously, the firm recorded its Bitcoin at original purchase cost; while it could write down drops in the token’s value as “impairment charges,” it could not mark up price increases unless tokens were sold off.

Investors who filed suits against Strategy and its leadership earlier this year argued the company misled them by overstating the positive impact this new accounting strategy would have on the firm’s profitability.

When Strategy announced a net loss of $4.22 billion in the first quarter of 2025—despite Bitcoin’s historic surge over the prior six months—shareholders began revolting.

But on Thursday, plaintiffs in one of the most prominent lawsuits against the company opted to voluntarily dismiss their claims. The jointly stipulated dismissal, filed in a federal court in eastern Virginia, where Strategy is based, was made with prejudice—meaning the claims cannot be made in court again.

Decrypt reached out to the plaintiffs’ attorneys asking why they had dropped their claims, or if any settlement had been reached with Strategy, but did not immediately receive a response.

In recent weeks, Strategy has faced other criticisms about how it presents its unorthodox business model to shareholders.Earlier this month, a prominent Wall Street advisor slammed the company for comparing its price-to-earnings ratio to the likes of Apple and Nvidia—a move that was “100% fraudulent,” the advisor said, because the company’s recent performance was driven by a “one-off” increase in Bitcoin’s price, not business fundamentals likely to recur.

Here’s why the IREN stock price has blasted to all-time high

by admin August 30, 2025

The IREN stock price surged to a record high on Friday, Aug. 29, after the Bitcoin mining company published strong financial results, leading to a set of analyst upgrades.

Summary

  • IREN stock price jumped to a record high after strong financial results.
  • Wall Street analysts are upbeat about the company as it pivots to AI.
  • Technical analysis points to a brief pullback in the near term.

IREN jumped to a high of $28.50, up by 2,770% from its lowest point in 2023, giving it a market capitalization of over $7.3 billion. It has soared by over 140% this year.

Analysts boosts IREN stock forecast after earnings

IREN, a top Bitcoin (BTC) miner and an upcoming AI data center operator, received strong bullish calls from analysts after it reported strong financial results.

Darren Aftahi, an analyst from Roth MKM, boosted his target from $26 to $35 as he maintained a buy rating. Joseph Vafi of Cannacord Genuity boosted the forecast to $37, while Nick Giles of B. Riley hiked it to $29.

These analysts were reacting to the company’s financial results, which showed that its Bitcoin mining and AI data center businesses boomed in the second quarter.

IREN’s revenue jumped by 255% in Q4’25 to $187.5 million. This growth was driven by its mining operations, which generated $180 million, and its AI cloud revenue, which increased to $7 million.

IREN’s mining business benefited from a jump in hash rate, which boosted its Bitcoin production and higher BTC prices. Its recent production report showed that it mined over 700 coins in July.

IREN is working to become a major AI cloud business as the boom continues. It hopes to reciprocate CoreWeave’s business to offer an AI workload for developers. In this regard, it has placed orders for thousands of Blackwell chips from Nvidia.

Analysts are upbeat about IREN’s business, with the average revenue estimate for the current quarter being $240 million, a 342% annual increase. Its annual revenue will jump to $1.1 billion this new financial year.

IREN share price analysis

IREN stock chart | Source: Tradingview

The weekly timeframe chart shows that the IREN stock has been in a strong bull run this year. This trend accelerated when the company published its financial results.

IREN share price remains comfortably above the crucial resistance level at $15.90, where it formed a double-top pattern in 2024. It is also much higher than the moving averages.

Therefore, the most likely scenario is where it plunges and retests the support at $15.90 and then resumes the uptrend. This performance is known as a break-and-retest and is a common continuation sign.

Pudgy Penguins Launches Pudgy Party Game on Mobile App

by admin August 30, 2025

Ethereum NFT brand Pudgy Penguins has teamed up with Mythical Games to launch Pudgy Party, a mobile party game which is now available on iOS and Android.

The game looks and feels similar to games like Fall Guys and Stumble Guys, with colorful party battles where players race through and try to survive unique mini-games.

Each round is designed to feel different with multiple challenges players can expect new twists every time they join a match.

A Game Full of Fun Built on Blockchain

The Pudgy Party game is built on the Mythical Platform and integrates blockchain quietly in the background. When a player joins the game, a wallet is automatically created for them with them even knowing.

“The Web3 stuff is kind of just seamlessly behind it. You’re suddenly getting assets and you’re leveling them up, and you can change them and you can burn them for other things. All that’s fairly hidden from the user initially.” Mythical Games CEO John Linden explained in a press release.

Memes, Costumes, and Endless Play

The game’s stars are the Pudgy Penguins characters, which are already well known on social media and in toy stores. Each penguin has a fun personality and can be dressed in costumes or upgraded with emotes and other items. Some costumes can also be minted as NFTs, which means they can be traded on Mythical’s marketplace.

At launch, the game started with a seasonal event called Dopameme Rush. This event is based on internet memes and includes funny costumes like John Pork and Tung Tung Sahur. The game will have new seasons every month, with both free and premium passes. Players can also take part in tournaments and leaderboard competitions.

“The heart of Pudgy Penguins has always been about connection and spreading good vibes. Bringing our beloved, viral characters to life in a mobile multiplayer game is an exciting step forward in our mission to create joyful, meaningful experiences for our growing global community.” Luca Netz, CEO of Pudgy Penguins, said in the press release.

Pudgy Penguins has grown far beyond NFTs since its 2021 debut, and expanded into plush toys sold at Walmart and Target, with launching earlier games like Pudgy Worlds. It also rolled out its Solana-based PENGU token. Today, the collection is the second most expensive NFT series by floor price and is valued at $417 million, according to on-chain data.

New XRP ETF Proposal Just Been Filed

New XRP ETF Proposal Just Been Filed

by admin August 30, 2025

Yet another XRP exchange-traded fund (ETF) filing has been submitted by Amplify Investments.

The proposed product is designed to provide investors with exposure to the price of the Ripple-linked cryptocurrency while simultaneously generating income by selling options.

Notably, the fund will not hold the token directly. Instead, it invests in those ETFs that track the token’s spot price.

The ETF will be selling call options on XRP ETFs that are typically up to 10% above the current price. Investors will be able to get income based on the premium earned from selling the aforementioned options. Essentially, investors will be “renting out” some of their options to options buyers in exchange for cash.

You Might Also Like

For instance, if the XRP records a relatively small price gain, the fund will keep both the option premium and the underlying gain. If XRP rises by a lot, gains are capped at the strike price, so the upside is rather limited for investors. However, the premium paid to investors also cushions potential losses if XRP experiences a sharp downturn.

Potential risks associated with the new ETF include general investment risks as well as XRP-specific risks such as high volatility, supply shocks, potential network risks, and so on.

XRP ETF race

In the U.S., there are only leveraged or futures-based XRP ETFs, including Teucrium 2x Long Daily XRP ETF and ProShares Ultra XRP ETF.

However, the SEC is widely expected to approve a slew of spot XRP ETFs from such issuers as Franklin Templeton, Bitwise, 21Shares, and Grayscale later this year.

According to Polymarket bettors, XRP ETFs have an 86% chance of being approved by the SEC in 2025.

DOGE Price Declines 5% as 'Lower Highs' Point to Further Declines

by admin August 30, 2025

News Background

  • Between August 24–25, a whale shifted 900 million DOGE (worth over $200 million) to Binance, sparking fears of distribution from long-term holders.
  • Corporate treasuries and institutional funds have reduced meme-coin exposure as regulatory uncertainty and global macro headwinds mount.
  • Network security strength remains elevated, with Dogecoin’s hashrate topping 2.9 petahashes per second, reflecting robust mining participation despite price volatility.
  • Broader crypto markets remain supported by expectations of Fed policy easing, but DOGE continues to lag majors like BTC and ETH.

Price Action Summary

  • DOGE fell 5% during the 24-hour session from August 28 at 09:00 to August 29 at 08:00, sliding from $0.22 to $0.21.
  • The token traded within a narrow $0.011 range, marked by a high at $0.23 and a low at $0.21.
  • Institutional selling was evident, with 626.3 million tokens transacted during morning trade as $0.22 support gave way.
  • The sharpest move came in the 07:24–08:23 GMT hour on August 29, when DOGE dropped 0.57% from $0.22 to $0.21 on a 27.36 million spike in volume.

Technical Analysis

  • Support: Initial stability around $0.22 was lost; $0.21 now serves as the immediate floor.
  • Resistance: $0.23 remains the near-term cap, repeatedly rejecting rallies.
  • Momentum: RSI hovers near mid-40s, showing neutral-to-bearish bias with limited upside strength.
  • Volume: Daily turnover exceeded 280.5 million tokens; institutional flows were concentrated during peak selling phases.
  • Indicators: MACD lines are diverging bearishly, suggesting further downside risk unless price reclaims $0.22.
  • Pattern: Tight $0.21–$0.23 corridor signals consolidation, but repeated lower highs point to a potential continuation lower.

What Traders Are Watching

  • $0.21 as the critical support — a break risks exposing $0.20.
  • A push through $0.23 could reframe near-term momentum and open the path toward $0.25–$0.30.
  • Monitoring whale exchange inflows after the $200 million transfer to Binance.
  • Futures open interest trends, down 8% earlier this week, as a gauge of speculative conviction.

ZachXBT Blasts Ripple Holders, Reveals Why He Does Not Assist/Support The XRP Community

by admin August 30, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

The crypto space is talking after blockchain investigator ZachXBT turned his attention to Ripple investors and the XRP community at large. In a series of direct posts, he stated that he does not support Ripple holders and even joked that he would mock anyone who sent him a private message.

ZachXBT Calls XRP Holders “Exit Liquidity” For Insiders

In his posts, ZachXBT explained why he keeps his distance from the XRP community. “I do not currently assist the XRP community and will make fun of anyone who sends me a DM,” he wrote. He went further to say that Ripple holders are not worth supporting because they provide “nothing of value to the industry except exit liquidity for insiders.”

The on-chain detective also noted that the supply of XRP remains heavily controlled by insiders. In his view, this makes the token less attractive and prevents fair growth. He added that the community around XRP behaves more like a cult than a group trying to build real technology. According to him, Ripple holders focus too much on hype, price promotion, and defending their token, rather than driving innovation.

ZachXBT grouped XRP holders with other communities he sees as structurally weak. He says that they share the same problems: strong promotion, defensive attitudes, and little to no useful progress. Due to his reputation as a respected blockchain investigator, his comments drew attention, despite being divisive. Because he has exposed crypto scams and shady financial transactions, ZachXBT has gained influence over time, and his words now carry more weight.

On-Chain Detective Rejects MLM Chains And Community Shilling

ZachXBT also explained that his criticism goes beyond XRP alone. He said, “I discriminate against MLM chains,” comparing many projects in the market to pyramid schemes. In his view, these chains operate with little real utility but rely on hype, recruiting new buyers, and constant shilling by communities to keep the system alive.

He described a pattern of insider enrichment, where early insiders and influencers cash out with profits while late retail buyers are left holding losses. This setup, he argued, also suits the XRP community, as it is more about aggressive promotion than genuine innovation.

ZachXBT also discussed the behavior of these communities. He described their behavior as cult-like, with members becoming very defensive and spending more energy on pushing “numbers go up” rather than creating long-term value. In his opinion, this is one of the reasons why these projects do not advance the crypto industry.

ZachXBT’s comments may prompt the crypto space to reassess XRP, its community support, and whether the token’s future lies in real utility or is simply an asset used by insiders for profit. A fresh wave of verbal shrapnel could happen within the XRP community, as some agree with him while others defend Ripple’s token.

Investors withdraw lawsuit against Strategy over Bitcoin accounting practices

by admin August 30, 2025

A proposed class action lawsuit against Strategy which accused the business intelligence company and its executive chairman, Michael Saylor, of misleading investors about the risks of its substantial Bitcoin purchases, has been voluntarily dismissed by the plaintiffs, according to Bloomberg.

Summary

  • Investors have voluntarily dismissed a proposed class action against Strategy, closing claims the company misled shareholders over Bitcoin risks and accounting.
  • The lawsuit, filed in May, accused Michael Saylor and other executives of overstating Bitcoin gains and obscuring volatility and accounting impacts.

According to a Bloomberg report on August 29, investors voluntarily dismissed their proposed class action lawsuit against Strategy with prejudice, permanently closing the case.

The suit, originally filed in May by law firm Pomerantz LLP in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, had named executives including Michael Saylor, CEO Phong Le, and CFO Andrew Kang as defendants.

Plaintiffs had argued that Strategy overstated potential gains from its Bitcoin strategy while downplaying volatility risks and failed to clearly disclose the effects of adopting new accounting standards for digital assets. The plaintiffs’ abrupt decision to withdraw all claims, filed just a day prior on August 28, offers no public explanation for their retreat.

Accounting shift and mounting criticism

Earlier this year, Strategy adopted the Financial Accounting Standards Board’s Accounting Standards Update No. 2023-08, which governs the accounting for crypto assets. The shift to fair value accounting allowed the company to record its massive Bitcoin holdings at their market value each quarter, with unrealized gains and losses flowing directly into the net income statement.

Plaintiffs argued the company failed to fully disclose how this would affect its reported earnings, pointing to Strategy’s $4.22 billion net loss in the first quarter of 2025 as proof that the accounting method was being presented to investors in a misleading light.

In addition to the lawsuit, Strategy has faced scrutiny on other fronts. Earlier this month, a prominent Wall Street advisor criticized the company for comparing its valuation metrics to tech giants like Apple and Nvidia, arguing that its recent performance was fueled by a one-time surge in Bitcoin rather than sustainable revenue growth.

The rebuke underscored the growing skepticism from parts of the financial establishment about whether Strategy’s unique model should be benchmarked against conventional corporate peers at all.

Despite the criticisms, Strategy remains the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, with 632,457 BTC on its balance sheet, worth about $68.32 billion according to BitcoinTreasuries.net.

On August 25, Michael Saylor highlighted that the firm’s proprietary Bitcoin Yield metric had climbed to 25.4% year-to-date, framing it as evidence of long-term shareholder value tied to Bitcoin accumulation.

Tron Slashes Fees By 60% In Bold Push For Wider Adoption

Tron Slashes Fees by 60% in Bold Push for Wider Adoption

by admin August 29, 2025

Tron has just made a significant move by approving its biggest fee reduction ever, slashing network transaction costs by 60% to maintain its competitive edge. This decision, which has the full support of the Super Representative community, was announced on August 26 and will take effect on August 29 at 20:00 GMT+8.

Founder Justin Sun confirmed the update on X, stressing that while short-term revenues will fall, the long-term benefits outweigh the risks. “Cutting fees by 60% is bold and rare for any network,” Sun stated. He also emphasized that increased users and transactions will eventually strengthen Tron’s profitability.

This change also aimed at sparking growth in the ecosystem. With TRX prices on the rise, fees had become quite steep, which made it tough for many to participate and deploy contracts.

As a result, developers and smaller traders were hit with higher costs, leading to a slowdown in network activity. The recent adjustment brings the energy unit price down from 210 sun to 100 sun, giving room for more people to access transfers and utilize contracts.

Fee Model Adjustments and User Growth

The proposal indicates that USDT transfers will remain the same in TRX terms. However, in dollar terms, fees have skyrocketed since TRX doubled in value since 2024.

TRX price changes, Source: Github

For other contracts, previous fee reductions have been negated by the appreciation of TRX, leading to increased costs instead of decreases. So, this new cut is aimed at restoring genuine affordability.

In addition, reducing the energy price to 100 sun might draw in about 12 million new eligible transfer users, and at 60 sun, eligible accounts could rise by 71% as per the proposal. The increase in users also brings more contract calls, which is the focus of Tron.

Impact on potential on-chain user scale, Source: Github

Market Impact and Ecosystem Expansion

The current state of the network shows promising growth. After filtering out the temporary impact of Sunpump’s launch last year, the daily new contracts are on the rise.

As of writing, Tron is trading at $0.336, reflecting a 2.17% drop in the last 24 hours, with a trading volume of $1.23 billion. Despite the decline, there is a probability that the reduced fees will boost liquidity, spark developer activity, and encourage dApp growth.

The 60% fee reduction by Tron enables focus on adoption rather than immediate profits. Hence, Tron is getting into a good place for sustainable long-term growth.

HBAR Faces Heavy Selling as Traders Test Key Support Levels

by admin August 29, 2025

Hedera’s HBAR token endured a sharp selloff over the past 24 hours, falling 5% from $0.24 to $0.23 as traders unloaded positions in heavy volumes. The steepest decline came early Wednesday, when more than 277 million tokens changed hands between 06:00 and 09:00 UTC, forcing prices through the $0.235 support level and briefly dragging the token to lows near $0.226. Buyers stepped in at those levels, helping HBAR stabilize, though attempts to retake $0.235–$0.241 met firm resistance.

The pressure intensified again later in the session, with a one-hour drop from $0.229 to $0.226 marked by concentrated selling. Trading activity spiked at 13:30 and again just after 14:00 UTC, pushing the token as low as $0.2245 before a modest rebound. That bounce stalled at $0.227–$0.229, leaving HBAR pinned just above newly established support at $0.225.

The turbulence comes amid a significant regulatory development in the U.S. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) this week issued new guidance allowing U.S. traders access to offshore crypto markets via its Foreign Board of Trade advisory. Analysts suggest the move could open fresh liquidity pipelines for digital assets, including mid-cap tokens like HBAR, at a time when institutional flows are increasingly targeting undervalued corners of decentralized finance.

For now, however, the technical picture remains fragile. HBAR is holding above the $0.226 support area but faces stiff resistance on any rally attempts. With prices sitting near $0.23, traders are watching whether the CFTC’s regulatory shift can outweigh near-term bearish pressure and spark renewed demand for the token.

HBAR/USD (TradingView)

Technical Indicators Reveal Key Levels

  • Volume explosions reached 277.89 million during peak selling carnage, confirming impenetrable resistance around $0.235.
  • Support fortresses established at $0.226-$0.228 where buying interest provided desperate stabilization.
  • Resistance fortifications remain bulletproof at $0.235-$0.241 where previous rallies were systematically destroyed.
  • Make-or-break support zone forged at $0.2245-$0.225 following apocalyptic selloff periods.
  • Evaporating volume during recovery attempts signals potential consolidation battleground.

Solana Client Agave Smashes 1.1 Million TPS

by admin August 29, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

Solana’s Rust validator client Agave has matched Firedancer’s lab record, briefly peaking at 1.1 million transactions per second in a synthetic, single-node benchmark. The result was disclosed by Solana core engineer Andrew Fitzgerald, who wrote: “Hit a burst of 1.1m TPS on agave this morning. Single-node synthetic test with simple transfers. On a branch with several changes not yet merged,” before listing PoH recording and status-cache improvements alongside new “scheduler-bindings,” with block/shred limits disabled for the run.

Pressed on caveats, Fitzgerald added a plain-English qualifier: “disabled block/shred limits, and it’s a burst not sustained. have several long-term perf improvements squashed on top of scheduler-bindings to make this happen.” The exchange underscored that this is a laboratory datapoint, not a network-wide throughput number.

Solana’s Core Client Smashes 1.1M TPS

The milestone immediately fed a broader narrative about client-level competition on Solana. Helius co-founder Mert Mumtaz framed it this way: “last year Firedancer hit 1.1M TPS on a synthetic test — now, Agave has done the same. There is an outdated notion that Solana will become faster only if Firedancer. This is from a time when Agave wasn’t as competitive — but it is now. The competition between the two client teams will improve the chain like never before.”

Anatoly Yakovenko, Solana’s co-founder, poked fun at the victory lap, quipping: “Pls no more. Just ship ag and lower the timers to 150ms.” The remark tracks with the network’s ongoing push to reduce consensus latencies. That push is currently crystallized in SIMD-0326 (“Alpenglow”), a consensus overhaul now in community voting that targets ~150 ms block finality by reworking how and where validator votes occur.

Under the hood, the Agave test hints at where performance headroom is being unlocked. “Scheduler-bindings” — a forthcoming extension that lets validators plug in custom block-packing logic without forking core — has been on Anza’s public roadmap since May. Recent Agave 2.3 literature also details a revamped TPU client (“tpu-client-next”), AccountsDB I/O reductions, a greedy scheduler, and snapshot/gossip improvements, all of which cut real-world overhead even if they don’t show up in synthetic peaks one-for-one.

The obvious question is what the 1.1M TPS burst actually means for users. Synthetic single-node tests measure raw execution and scheduling throughput with some guardrails temporarily lifted; they do not translate linearly to mainnet capacity, which is bounded by network propagation, signature verification, scheduler policy, and economic constraints. Still, the number is directionally consistent with the network’s trajectory. Earlier this month, independent experiments observed six-figure TPS bursts on mainnet under heavy program-call load — a separate datapoint that, taken together with Agave’s lab figure, reinforces the pace of optimization across both client and protocol layers.

Two broader takeaways stand out. First, Solana’s client diversity is no longer hypothetical: Agave (Anza) and Firedancer (Jump Crypto) are now trading blows on the same synthetic leaderboard, with different codebases stressing different parts of the system — a healthy sign for resilience and future performance. Second, the product focus has shifted from trophy numbers to latency and predictability: the 150 ms target, if adopted, compresses user-perceived finality in ways that matter for payments, trading, and real-time apps even when headline TPS fluctuates.

At press time, SOL traded at $207.86.
