Justin Sun Faces Backlash After Urging WLFI to Unfreeze Tokens

by admin September 6, 2025

Tron founder Justin Sun has once again found himself at the center of crypto controversy, this time over his frozen holdings in World Liberty Financials (WLFI).

The project blacklisted Sun’s wallet last week, freezing nearly 595 million WLFI tokens worth over $100 million at the time. Sun has since taken to social media, urging the team to unlock his assets and warning that such actions undermine investor trust.

Why Were Sun’s WLFI Tokens Frozen?

The dispute began after blockchain data revealed a wallet linked to Sun transferred nearly $9 million worth of WLFI tokens to an exchange. Shortly afterward, WLFI’s team blacklisted the address, effectively freezing his tokens.

Market observers claimed the move was designed to stop potential dumping that could further destabilize the token’s price, which has already lost more than 60% of its value since launch.

WLFI debuted at $0.46 but now trades near $0.18, raising concerns about whale activity and the project’s governance. Critics argue the blacklisting contradicts the very principles of decentralization that blockchain projects are supposed to uphold.

Sun Denies Dumping Allegations

In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Sun rejected claims of market manipulation, stating the transfers were merely “small deposit tests” and not intended for selling. He called the freeze “unreasonable” and insisted that all investors should be treated equally.

“Tokens are sacred and inviolable, this should be the most basic value of any blockchain,” Sun wrote. He added that unilateral freezes risk eroding confidence in WLFI, a project he supported early with both capital and strategic backing.

On-chain analysis from firms like Nansen has also suggested Sun was not directly responsible for WLFI’s sharp price decline, instead linking the sell-off to large market-maker activity.

Governance Concerns and Market Outlook

The standoff between Sun and WLFI has amplified investor concerns about centralization and transparency within the project. Critics warn that blacklisting wallets without clear communication risks damaging WLFI’s credibility, especially at such an early stage.

In an attempt to stabilize prices, the WLFI team has announced a buyback-and-burn program, including the destruction of 47 million tokens. However, uncertainty remains high as the dispute with Sun continues and market volatility weighs on investor sentiment.

For now, Sun is pressing WLFI to restore his rights and unlock his frozen tokens, while the broader crypto community debates whether the project can recover trust, or whether this controversy marks the start of deeper governance challenges.

Public Keys: Big ETH Stakes, AI Boost for Bitcoin Miners and 24/7 Trading

by admin September 6, 2025

In brief

  • SharpLink Gaming plans to stake part of its $3.6 billion ETH holdings on Linea network for higher yields, moving beyond traditional custodians Anchorage and Coinbase.
  • SEC and CFTC leaders announced they’re considering 24/7 trading markets to align with crypto’s always-on nature, marking another potential Trump administration change to financial markets.
  • Bitcoin miners hit a record $39 billion combined market cap by pivoting to AI compute services, with companies like TeraWulf seeing massive stock gains from GPU hosting deals.

Public Keys is a weekly roundup from Decrypt, that tracks the key publicly traded crypto companies.

Sharpening the Stake

Ethereum treasury firm SharpLink Gaming is planning to stake a portion of its $3.6 billion ETH stash on the Linea network once it hits mainnet.

The company had been staking almost all of its holdings through its custodians, Anchorage and Coinbase. But now it’s eyeing higher-yield opportunities.

“When you hold billions of dollars of ETH and you’re looking at a portfolio of staking, there is going to be an ability to deploy that through staking opportunities on Linea,” SharpLink co-CEO Joseph Chalom told Decrypt. “And that is really, really important, not only to Consensys, but to the Linea Consortium. And if there are opportunities that SharpLink can avail itself of to get better yield, higher risk-adjusted yield through the Linea network, we will do that.”

There’s been an awful lot of interest in staking and becoming Ethereum validators. The line to become a validator has a wait time of more than 16 days, according to Validator Queue.

An Ethereum ICO whale awakened recently and moved $645 million worth of ETH into a staking wallet this morning—although they still hold $1.1 billion worth of funds.

The news about staking ETH hasn’t exactly been great for SharpLink’s share price, though. SBET has lost 4% and shares are currently trading for $14.81. That’s nearly a 20% drop since the start of the week.

What business hours?

SEC and CFTC leaders  on Friday said they’re considering “24/7 markets” to match the cadence of the digital assets market.

“Further expanding trading hours could better align U.S. markets with the evolving reality of a global, always-on economy,” SEC chair Paul Atkins and CFTC acting chair Caroline Pham said in a joint statement on Friday.

But the chairs added the caveat that around the clock trading might not be a good fit for all asset types.

If the change comes to pass, the Trump administration will have left another mark on financial markets.

The chairs said the proposals all align with a report released in July by the Trump administration directing the agencies to loosen numerous U.S. restrictions on crypto trading..

It’s an ironic twist 10 years after Wall Street firms had to ban interns from pulling all nighters.

Bitcoin miners get an AI boost

According to JP Morgan analysts, publicly traded Bitcoin miners have AI to thank for a new record-high market cap set last month.

Their combined market cap soared to $39 billion as firms leaned into their high-performance computer pivots, which primarily serve AI firms’ voracious appetite for compute power.

Last year’s Bitcoin halving and soaring hashrates have relentlessly cut into margins, but thankfully there’s lots of demand in the GPU farms.

JP Morgan tracks 13 U.S.-listed miners, including Iris Energy, Hut 8, Core Scientific, Marathon, and Riot. The list also includes TeraWulf, whose stock rose a staggering 83% after the company upsized its colocation and AI hosting deal with Fluidstack.

This is less a scrabble for profits and more a sign of carefully laid plans panning out. Plenty of miners have been planning these pivots for years.

Other Keys

  • Strategy drops $450M on Bitcoin: It’s hardly surprising when Strategy buys more Bitcoin. This one kept its streak alive the same week its stock earn a reiterated Buy rating from Benchmark.
  • Back in custody: U.S. Bank has revived its Bitcoin custody service. The $60 billion market cap lender has revived the program after a years-long pause as demand for institutional grade custodians swells.
  • Metaplanet shareholder crunch: Shareholders of the Japanese Bitcoin treasury firm approved an $884 million capital raise as the company struggles to raise cash. An analyst told Decrypt he expects the firm to keep its BTC buying pace, even if Bitcoin dives this month.

Dogecoin price slumps despite Elon Musk, DOGE treasury rumor

Dogecoin price holds support at $0.20, is a reversal to $0.32 next?

by admin September 6, 2025

Dogecoin’s price is consolidating at $0.20 high-time-frame support, a region with multiple technical confluences. If this level holds, price action is well-positioned for a rotation toward $0.32 resistance.

Summary

  • DOGE consolidates at $0.20 high-time-frame support, backed by strong confluence.
  • Market structure remains bullish, with $0.32 as the next major resistance.
  • Declining volume suggests accumulation, with bullish influxes needed for breakout.

Dogecoin (DOGE) price action is currently holding steady at $0.20, a critical high-time-frame support level backed by the 0.618 Fibonacci retracement and VWAP support. This consolidation is likely to form another higher low in the ongoing bullish structure, paving the way for a potential continuation higher. Adding to sentiment, CleanCore Solutions is targeting Dogecoin as a treasury asset with a $175 million private placement. This development adds emphasis to volume behavior to confirm accumulation and anticipate an expansion phase.

Dogecoin price key technical points

  • Critical Support: $0.20 aligns with the 0.618 Fibonacci retracement and VWAP, reinforcing demand.
  • Market Structure: Holding this zone establishes another higher low, maintaining bullish macro structure.
  • Upside Targets: Value area high is the immediate hurdle, with $0.32 as the next high-time-frame resistance.

Dogecoin/USDT (1D) Chart, Source: TradingView

The $0.20 level has become a decisive support zone for Dogecoin. Acting as a confluence of key technical markers, it has thus far contained price action, suggesting demand is firmly present in this region. This level is expected to establish another higher low within the bullish macro trend, preserving the structure of consecutive higher highs and higher lows.

The next technical hurdle lies at the value area high. A confirmed close above this region would signal that demand has overpowered supply, paving the way for a rotation toward the swing high. Once the $0.32 resistance is tested and breached, this would establish another higher high, reinforcing Dogecoin’s macro bullish trajectory and further validating its trend.

Volume dynamics provide further insight. The current decline in volume is typical of consolidation phases, where support holds and sellers become exhausted. This behavior suggests accumulation, as market participants steadily build positions in preparation for expansion. However, for this consolidation to evolve into a decisive breakout, strong and sustained bullish inflows must accompany the move. These volume surges will validate the shift in demand and fuel a continuation toward resistance levels.

Overall, both market structure and price action confirm a bullish bias. The key lies in whether volume can back the next leg higher. If demand sustains, Dogecoin is likely to reclaim the value area high, rotate toward $0.32, and maintain its series of higher highs and higher lows.

What to expect in the coming price action

Dogecoin remains bullish above $0.20 support. A breakout above the value area high could trigger expansion toward $0.32, with strong bullish volume required to confirm and sustain the continuation.

Ethereum ICO Whale Stakes $646M as Price Holds Above $4.3K

by admin September 6, 2025

An early Ethereum investor has made a dramatic return to the market by staking one of the largest ETH deposits in recent memory.

On Thursday evening, 150,000 ETH, valued at around $646 million, moved from three wallets tied to Ethereum’s 2014 initial coin offering (ICO) into a staking address. This move comes as the Ethereum price trades at $4,325.35, up 1.20% in the last 24 hours at the time of writing.

The wallets had been sitting idle since February 2022, only handling transactions that weren’t in ETH. The investor made a move which is not usual by buying 1 million ETH during the ICO for $310,000, which means they snagged each token for a mere $0.31.

An #Ethereum ICO participant who received 1,000,000 $ETH just woke up after 8 years of dormancy.

He moved 150,000 $ETH($645M) to a new wallet for staking.

He invested $310K in the ICO via 3 wallets and received 1,000,000 $ETH — now worth $4.3B.

That holding is now worth about $4.3 billion, according to Blockchain analytics platform Lookonchain on X. Even after this massive staking deposit, two wallets still hold another 105,000 ETH worth $451 million.

Dormant Ethereum Supply Comes Alive

This latest staking action follows a trend of long-term Ethereum whales reentering the market. Last month, another early participant transferred $19 million worth of ETH to Kraken, while a separate whale moved 2,300 ETH to the same exchange.

However, unlike those transfers, this week’s activity adds to Ethereum’s staking layer instead of fueling sell pressure. Ethereum staking now exceeds 33 million ETH as older investors seek stable yields through the proof-of-stake model.

Market Trends Reflect Bullish Sentiment

According to data from Coinglass, Ethereum’s funding rates have mostly remained in the positive territory over the past few months. Funding rates being positive means that long-term traders are paying short-term traders, which is a bullish signal.

Ethereum OI-Weighted Funding Rate, source: Coinglass

According to the chart, Ethereum’s price surged from around $1,800 in early April to over $5,000 by mid-August. Since then, it has pulled back a bit, settling in the $3,000 to $3,200 range before bouncing back.

The rising funding rates have coincided with these price increases, suggesting a strong buying momentum. On the other hand, sharp declines in funding rates often indicate a cooling-off period when the market gets too hot.

Ethereum whale choosing to stake $646 million instead of selling is a sign of long-term confidence. Hence, this move supports Ethereum’s network security and alleviates concerns about sudden sell-offs.

Breaking: Strategy Snubbed from S&P 500 Inclusion

by admin September 5, 2025

Strategy (MSTR), the leading corporate Bitcoin holder, has failed to make it to the flagship S&P 500 index in a big setback for the company.

MSTR shares are down more than 2% in after-hours trading following the snub. Meanwhile, Bitcoin is currently changing hands at $110,832 after dipping by 0.5% over the past hour, according to CoinGecko data.

Notably, Strategy failed to get included in the S&P 500 index despite meeting various criteria (such as market cap, liquidity, public float, and so on).

As explained by Bloomberg’s Eric Balchunas, the company got rejected by a selection committee that has a final say when determining which companies end up being part of the index. “You have to realize SPX is essentially an active fund run by a secret committee,” Balchunas said in a social media post.

The secretive committee, whose members are not public, takes into account qualitative factors and can reject companies based on rather subjective criteria.

Why wasn’t $MSTR allowed into the S&P 500 Index despite meeting all the criteria? Because the ‘Committee’ said no. You have to realize SPX is essentially an active fund run by a secret committee. We intv’d the dude who used to run this committee on Trillions. Check it out. pic.twitter.com/w334JrX9VO

Robinhood makes the cut

That said, cryptocurrency-friendly brokerage platform Robinhood has made the cut. It will join the index together with mobile technology company AppLoving and construction and facilities company Emcon Group.

Meanwhile, casino company Caesars Entertainment, financial technology company MarketAxess Holdings, and clean energy company Enphase Energy are on their way out.

Legislation Steering U.S. Fate of Crypto Emerges in New Version in Senate

by admin September 5, 2025

The U.S. Senate’s work on the crypto industry’s top policy priority — a bill to establish the regulatory workings of crypto markets in the U.S. — advanced further on Friday with the private circulation of a new draft bill that further outlines protections for crypto developers, bankruptcy guidelines for some digital asset issuers and how federal regulators can support tokenization in financial markets.

Despite the big lobbying win this year in which the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act that represents one approach to setting crypto market structure, the House’s work has represented only a broad jumping-off point for the Senate, which is pursuing its own version that is expected to take the lead as the policy most likely to be enacted.

The much lengthier new version obtained by CoinDesk would establish legal protections for those “developing, publishing, constituting, administering, maintaining or otherwise distributing” a distributed ledger system or a “decentralized finance messaging system.”

The new market structure draft from Senate Banking has the best developer protections language we have seen to date. Still digging into the rest of the bill, but this is worth celebrating immediately.

Could not be more thrilled to see @BankingGOP include an amendment to Section… pic.twitter.com/MufkAfOgpQ

— Amanda Tuminelli (@amandatums) September 5, 2025

The new draft also includes a section on bankruptcy, amending existing law to account for “ancillary assets” and clarifying that during bankruptcy procedures, ancillary assets and digital commodities should be treated as customer property.

The bill’s authors want the SEC and CFTC to conduct a joint study on tokenizing securities and other real-world assets with the aim of developing standards for how third-party custodians can handle tokenized assets, as well as what standards should exist for those tokenized assets. Following the study, the agencies could go through the rulemaking process for “tailored regulatory pathways” if needed.

Tokenized securities are still to be treated as securities, while tokenized real-world assets that aren’t securities should not be treated as securities because they’re tokenized, the bill said.

Though the bill is now circulating, it’s not yet clear whether this version pushed by key Republicans in the Senate Banking Committee will win support from their Democratic counterparts, or from the Senate Agriculture Committee that also must get behind the legislative effort.

While the House’s Clarity Act did clear its 308-122 vote with very wide bipartisan support, the Senate’s requirement for 60 votes puts a higher technical demand on Republican leaders there to win several Democrat votes. When the Senate’s previous major crypto undertaking, the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins (GENIUS) Act, arrived for House consideration, President Donald Trump urged that chamber to pass it as-is rather than putting its own stamp on the language.

That’s what happened, with the Senate’s take on stablecoins becoming law, marking the biggest U.S. policy accomplishment for the industry so far.

Though the two chambers’ separate market-structure efforts are broadly similar, some significant differences have emerged, including in how a crypto asset can transition from a security to a commodity. That’s one of the core questions as the center of the legislation, working out which agency may have oversight authority for specific approaches to digital assets. Uncertainty remains over the timing of the Senate’s work. Trump had originally said he wanted it done by August — a deadline that is now in the rearview. Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott, a South Carolina Republican, had later set a Sept. 30 target and repeatedly claimed it could be met. While Senator Cynthia Lummis, the Wyoming Republican who runs the panel’s crypto subcommittee, had agreed with Scott’s plan, she later said Trump can sign it by Thanksgiving.

The Senate has this week returned from its August break. Congress faces a full plate with budget demands and other matters, but crypto has remained among its leading priorities — and the one that’s consistently drawing major support from both parties. Before now, the Senate Banking Committee had first released some broad priorities for the market structure bill, held a hearing on the topic and then put out a discussion draft in July to gather thoughts from interested parties.

This latest, full version of the bill represents another step toward passage. It could next get what’s known as a markup hearing in which senators may be permitted to amend the legislation, then a Senate floor vote in which it’ll need 60 votes to advance. To win Democratic backing, this version would almost certainly be further revised with those lawmakers’ proposals.

Before any bill can become a law, matching legislation must pass both the Senate and House. So, if this bill eventually clears the Senate, the House then gets its vote, and judging by the margin by which the Clarity Act passed, it’s likely to clear that hurdle easily.

UPDATE (Sept. 5, 2025, 22:23 UTC): Adds detail on tokenization.

Ripple CTO Claps Back At Pundit Over Budding XRP Vs. Litecoin War

by admin September 5, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

Ripple CTO David Schwartz has clapped back at a Litecoin influencer who attacked XRP in a post on X. The argument began when Jonny Litecoin, a supporter of the Litecoin network, said XRP was created “out of thin air” without any mining or staking. With both sides trading sharp words online, the debate reignites the long-standing feud between XRP and Litecoin supporters.

Ripple CTO Claps Back With Energy Efficiency Argument

David Schwartz, the chief technology officer at Ripple, did not stay silent after seeing the comments from Litecoin influencer Jonny Litecoin. Schwartz pointed out that XRP and Litecoin offer similar use cases, but the difference lies in what it takes to create them. He argued that Litecoin requires significantly more energy to produce, as it operates on a proof-of-work system, whereas XRP does not.

In making this point, Schwartz presents XRP as one that could increase in popularity and adoption over time because it avoids the high costs and waste associated with energy-intensive proof-of-work methods.

In the X post, he says, “Two products are equivalent except that one takes much more energy. Which one do you think is the most likely to grow in popularity over time?”

Ripple has long promoted its “green” side, and even co-founder Chris Larsen worked with Greenpeace to campaign against the heavy energy use of proof-of-work systems. Proof-of-work blockchains, such as Bitcoin and Litecoin, face criticism for being wasteful and environmentally damaging.

Litecoin Influencer Sparks XRP Feud With Critical Post

Jonny Litecoin sets off the debate when he claims Litecoin holds more real-world value than XRP. He dismissed the asset, saying it was created by a company with no mining or staking and written into existence “out of thin air.” According to him, this means XRP lacks actual value, despite its market cap of $169 million. He argues that every Litecoin undergoes fair mining with electricity and computational power.

Jonny Litecoin’s comments did not happen in isolation. The official Litecoin X account also jumped into the fight on August 29 with a long, mocking post aimed at XRP and Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse.

The caustic “fun fact” post compares XRP’s purpose to the smell of comets and mocked the idea of using the token in bank payments.  It even went as far as calling Garlinghouse “Brad Garlicmouse,” sparking outrage among XRP supporters.

While many XRP supporters pushed back firmly, the Litecoin account refused to back down. Instead, the account frames the entire exchange as part of a community “roast.” This back-and-forth has once again highlighted the deep divide between proof-of-work supporters and the XRP community, with no signs of the feud slowing down.

Investors choose this memecoin competitor with massive growth potential

by admin September 5, 2025

Disclosure: This article does not represent investment advice. The content and materials featured on this page are for educational purposes only.

This new meme token Little Pepe gains traction with utility and massive upside potential.

Summary

  • Little Pepe raises $23.8m with 14.9b tokens sold, offering utility SHIB lacks through its meme-only Layer 2 chain.
  • With CEX listings, strict vesting, and a $777k giveaway, Little Pepe positions as SHIB’s logical successor.
  • Analysts see LILPEPE surging 20,500%, fueled by its Pepe Launchpad, utility, and microcap growth advantage.

After peaking in 2021, the Shiba Inu price has fallen by more than 85%, leaving investors questioning whether its best days are behind it.

Recent whale movements and modest technical rebounds are keeping hope alive. However, a new competitor, Little Pepe (LILPEPE), is quickly becoming the go-to utility-driven meme token with significantly higher upside.

Little Pepe: The utility meme alternative outshining shiba inu

While SHIB works to claw back relevance, Little Pepe is rapidly positioning itself as the next-generation memecoin. Unlike SHIB, which relies primarily on branding and community loyalty, Little Pepe has embedded real utility into its ecosystem: a meme-only Layer 2 chain.

At the heart of the project is the Pepe Launchpad, a dedicated platform for launching meme tokens that offers enhanced security, anti-bot measures, and fair participation models. This infrastructure solves many of the pain points that plagued SHIB in its early days, including bot-driven manipulation and poor tokenomics.

Momentum is also firmly on LILPEPE’s side. Its presale has already raised $23.8 million, selling 14.9 billion tokens, making it one of the largest meme presales in recent history. With the final listing price at $0.003, early investors at $0.001 have a 3x return before trading begins.

The early completion of its CertiK audit establishes trust beyond hype. This blend of credibility and utility has positioned Little Pepe not just as a competitor to SHIB but as its logical successor in the meme coin hierarchy.

Why analysts believe Little Pepe could surge this cycle

Analysts are projecting that LILPEPE could rise in this bull run, citing a mix of fundamentals and market dynamics that SHIB can no longer replicate. Here’s why:

  • Microcap Advantage: At launch, LILPEPE’s market cap will be a fraction of SHIB’s, giving it far more room for exponential growth.
  • CEX Listings: With two tier-1 exchange listings already lined up, liquidity and exposure will drive early adoption.
  • Strict Vesting Schedule: Unlike SHIB’s early free-for-all, LILPEPE’s tokenomics prevent inflation and dumping, ensuring stability.
  • $777k Giveaway: The ongoing campaign accelerates community expansion, fueling viral growth similar to SHIB’s 2021 breakout.
  • Utility Layer: The Pepe Launchpad transforms LILPEPE into more than a meme. It becomes an ecosystem for future meme projects, adding long-term relevance.

These factors create the perfect setup for Little Pepe to achieve explosive gains, a feat that Shiba Inu price action may no longer be able to replicate. With analysts calling for a potential 20,500% surge, it’s clear why so many investors are shifting focus from SHIB to LILPEPE this cycle.

Trump Media Buys $105M in Cronos Tokens from Crypto.com

by admin September 5, 2025

Trump Media and Technology Group Corp. (DJT), the parent company of Truth Social, said in an announcement on Friday that it has finalized a purchase agreement with Crypto.com valued at about $105 million.

The deal involves Trump Media acquiring 684.4 million Cronos (CRO) tokens at approximately 15.3 cents each, paid through a fifty-fifty split of cash and company stock.

Trump Media and https://t.co/vCNztATkNg have closed their purchase agreement today, with Trump Media completing its acquisition of 684.4 million $CRO to be securely stored and staked with https://t.co/vCNztATkNg Custody.

— Crypto.com (@cryptocom) September 5, 2025

This makes Trump Media one of the larger holders of CRO, and gives it about two percent of the tokens that are currently available in the market.

Both the CRO tokens and Trump Media shares that were part of the deal cannot be traded right away because they are under a lockup period. Trump Media will keep the tokens safe using Crypto.com’s custody service, and will also stake the tokens to earn extra income.

Devin Nunes, who is the chief executive and chairman of Trump Media, said the company was happy to close the agreement quickly.

“We’re convinced that CRO has tremendous potential to spread widely as a versatile utility token and a superior form of safe, fast payment and money transfer, and we’re excited to add this innovative asset to our balance sheet.” He said in the press release.

Both firms said the agreement is just one of many partnerships that will bring the CRO token to be used in Trump Media’s platforms Truth Social and Truth+ as part of a rewards program.

In addition, Trump Media recently announced a new company called Trump Media Group CRO Strategy, Inc. This new group has a deal with Yorkville Acquisition Corp., a special-purpose acquisition company, to buy up to 19% of all available CRO tokens.

Moreover, the media has been pushing deep into the world of digital money and finance. Recently, it announced plans to launch crypto investment products and reported holding two billion dollars in bitcoin earlier this year.

Top 3 Reasons to Buy Crypto Before 2026

by admin September 5, 2025

Very likely, the peak of the cryptocurrency cycle — which started in November 2022 with the recovery post-FTX collapse — is close. At the same time, the coming weeks might bring some opportunities for buying cryptocurrency assets, or at least Bitcoin (BTC) and major altcoins.

Post-halving peak might be near — next one expected in late 2029

Q4 of a post-halving year is normally considered to be the peak of Bitcoin (BTC) performance. Bitcoin (BTC) set its 2017 high in December — the year after the 2016 halving. The situation repeated itself in November 2021, when Bitcoin (BTC) reached its $69,000 top in the year after the 2020 halving event.

The last Bitcoin (BTC) halving happened in April 2024. Thus, Q4 of 2025 will most likely mark the top of this Bitcoin (BTC) rally. While there is a major risk of “buying the top,” the volatility in the peak phases of a bullish run might open up space for more income opportunities.

Also, as the segment matures and its net capitalization surges, the cycles are getting longer and longer. Should we assume that the peak comes in Q1, 2026, it might be worth buying Bitcoin or Ethereum in September-December 2025. If not, the next cycle will definitely start from the decline of crypto prices. While the reduced rates open up more lucrative buying opportunities, those who buy Bitcoin or Ethereum in 2026 will be forced to hold until at least late 2029.

Of course, all of these implications only work for long-term holders. Opportunities for futures trading will be available in every period of existing and upcoming cycles.

Institutions are coming for Ethereum (ETH): Price discovery in the cards

What is special about the current bullish rally of cryptocurrencies is that it is really driven by institutions interested in gaining exposure to crypto price volatility. Unlike previously, institutional buyers — family offices, retirement funds, investing conglomerates, banks and TradFi VCs — do not have to find exotic ways to benefit from crypto.

During previous cycles, they were forced to either buy the stocks of mining companies or seek off-shore instruments as well as OTC buying deals. In 2024, cryptocurrency spot ETFs in the U.S. arrived. In January 2024, 11 Bitcoin ETFs went live in the U.S., while in July, they were accompanied by Spot Ethereum ETFs. With these instruments, large-scale investors now have reliable and secure methods to benefit from crypto trading without holding private keys physically.

This resulted in a huge inflow of liquidity into such products. The cumulative volume of Spot Bitcoin ETFs and Spot Ethereum ETFs as of press time is targeting $200 billion. While this is definitely a landmark milestone for Web3 economics and the digital assets segment as such, for regular traders it might result in too-high prices.

Should the institutional inflow accelerate, with Spot ETFs and Digital Assets Treasury companies like Sharplink or ETHZilla siphoning more and more liquidity, Ethereum (ETH) and Bitcoin (BTC) might skyrocket too high for ordinary users. Simply put, you might be interested in buying while you still can buy.

Bitcoin (BTC) security budget under pressure; this might be last big cycle

Also, this cycle might actually be the last in which we see the status quo, with Bitcoin (BTC) dominating here and there. As of press time, the Bitcoin (BTC) dominance rate eyes 60%, even in the context of a decline registered in Q3, 2025.

However, with the inception of quantum computers, Bitcoin’s (BTC) 21 million supply cap — one of its greatest long-term investing narratives — might be destroyed. More and more researchers are warning that if the Bitcoin (BTC) mining mechanism is altered by quantum computers, the asset will not be verifiably scarce any longer. Therefore, its attractiveness to investors will fade.

Also, Bitcoin (BTC) is facing big trouble when it comes to the so-called security budget, i.e., to rewards for miners participating in the Bitcoin (BTC) economy. As covered by U.Today previously, some analysts are sure that Bitcoin (BTC) will not be secure any more in 2030.

Given these facts, there are at least three obvious reasons to consider buying crypto in 2025.
