Naughty Dog working on second game alongside Intergalactic, Neil Druckmann confirms

by admin May 20, 2025

It feels like we’ve only just been introduced to Naughty Dog’s sci-fi action-adventure Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, but studio boss Neil Druckmann has now confirmed there’s a second game in development at the studio.

Druckmann shared the news in conversation with the Press X to Continue podcast, explaining that alongside Intergalactic – where’s he’s serving as writer and creative director – “there’s another game that’s being worked on at Naughty Dog where I am more of a producer role.”

“And I get to mentor and watch this other team, and give feedback and be, like, the executive in the room,” he continued. “I enjoy all those roles, and the fact that I jump between one to the next, it makes my job very exciting and always feeling fresh. I’m never bored.”

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet was unveiled in December.Watch on YouTube

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard multiple games are in development at Naughty Dog; the studio said it had “more than one ambitious, brand-new single player game” in the works back in 2023, when it announced the cancellation of The Last of Us Online. Druckmann’s latest statement is, however, the first confirmation since then that multiple projects are still underway.

As to what this second project might be, Druckmann offered no hints, but it’s possible it’s being helmed by Uncharted: The Lost Legacy director Shaun Escayg – who rejoined Naughty Dog back in 2021 after serving as creative director on Crystal Dynamics’ Marvel Avengers.

Druckmann has, of course, been teasing a third The Last of Us game in recent years, but he seemingly backtracked on that in March, telling fans, “Don’t bet on there being more.” For now, his main focus appears to be Intergalactic, which is currently expected to arrive in 2027. And while details on the game are currently limited, Druckmann recently named another actor who’s been cast in Intergalactic after their appearance in The Last of Us’ television show.

The Last Of Us Cut A Segment From The Museum, But HBO Shot It

by admin May 20, 2025

Image: HBO

One of the best scenes in The Last of Us’ second season came in this week’s sixth episode, with Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) taking a trip to an abandoned museum. It’s a beautiful moment that is ripped right out of the Last of Us Part II video game, and the show does it justice. But fans who have played the game will know that this segment had a bit more to it originally. It’s only natural that the TV show, with its shorter run time, would have to cut some scenes down, but the wild thing is that it looks like HBO actually shot the rest of the segment and just didn’t use it in the final edit.

Nintendo Switch 2 Price Is Set at $450 for Now, But Could Go Higher

This section of the game depicts Ellie’s 16th birthday. Joel knows she has a fixation on space and dinosaurs, so what better way to make her big day one to remember than by taking her to a museum that spotlights both? In the game you find a huge dinosaur exhibit on the bottom floor, and after you’ve explored that one, there’s another section dedicated to space travel waiting for you upstairs. Ellie is ecstatic exploring both floors, with the highlight being when she enters a spacecraft and listens to a recording of a pre-apocalyptic NASA launch so she can imagine what it might’ve been like to get off this ruined rock. It’s an incredibly sweet moment sandwiched between a lot of violence and heartache.

The show, meanwhile, only has one of these floors. We see Joel and Ellie mess around with a solar system diorama and pretend to be astronauts, but we miss the section where Ellie spouts off cool dinosaur facts and puts a hat on their skeletons. Ultimately, if you have to pick one or the other, the spaceship is the more important moment and the one worth showing the TV audience. But, wildly enough, it looks like Pascal and Ramsey shot scenes on a recreation of the dinosaur floor that never made their way into the episode. In the behind-the-scenes featurette for the episode, we can see footage of the actors and crew on the dinosaur floor, complete with all the overgrowth, grit, and grime you’d expect in a place that has been mostly abandoned for decades.

Fans are sad to see the set but none of the scenes that took place in it. Maybe we’ll see some deleted scenes in the special features whenever the season two box set is released. Who among us doesn’t want to see Ramsey putting a cowboy hat on Pascal as he grimaces and lightly protests? Don’t deny me this, HBO.

The Last of Us has one more episode this season, but it won’t be the end of the show’s take on The Last of Us Part II’s story, as HBO is stretching it out across multiple seasons.

Minecraft Ender Dragon Boss Guide – Where To Find And How To Beat

by admin May 20, 2025

Beating the Ender Dragon in Minecraft technically marks the end of the game, as the credits will roll when you leave the area post-fight. However, there are several useful techniques and important mechanics that you need to know before you head into the fight with one of the strongest Minecraft mobs. Here’s how to find the Ender Dragon, how to beat it, and the rewards you’ll get for slaying it.

Items to bring to the fight

Before we get into the mechanics of the Ender Dragon fight, there are several items you should seek out and bring with you on the journey. You’ll want to read our dedicated Minecraft The End guide for information on how to find The End and how to get there, but in terms of items that will be useful, we’ve got you covered.

You’ll need three full stacks of scaffolding in order to reach the tops of the towers. You can bring normal blocks, but scaffolding allows you to go up and down at will, instead of relying on water buckets to break your fall from the top of the tower. If you’re anything like me, you’ve failed at the water bucket trick too many times to count, so scaffolding is the safer option. Having said that, do bring a water bucket to protect yourself from the many Endermen that spawn in the fight arena.

Suggested items to bring to the Ender Dragon fight.

Bring a full stack of golden carrots to restore health if you do get hit quickly. Also, bring three stacks of empty glass bottles with you to collect the Dragon’s Breath that pools on the floor. This is an important ingredient for several Minecraft potions, so it’s well worth collecting while the fight progresses. To collect it, right-click with a glass bottle equipped when it pools on the floor, taking care not to step directly in it.

Bring your best weapons. For the Ender Dragon, this is a Netherite sword with your preferred enchantments, and a bow with the infinity enchantment at a minimum, as this gives you unlimited arrows. You’ll also want full diamond or Netherite armor, with your preferred enchantments. If you’d prefer to avoid the Endermen completely at the sacrifice of limited vision, you can carve a pumpkin and wear it as a helmet. This way, the Endermen won’t attack you no matter how much you look at them.

Bring a bed and a chest with spare armor and weapons. Place the bed and chest next to the End portal, and set your respawn on the bed before jumping into the portal.

Finally, bring some stacks of building blocks, preferably cobblestone or something else similar to obtain, as the spawn into The End is random and you may find yourself on one of the area’s many standalone platforms with no way to reach the Ender Dragon. Should this happen after jumping through the portal, you can create a bridge across to the main area.

How to destroy the tower crystals and cages

When you spawn into the Ender Dragon fight, you’ll notice several pillars with End Crystals on top of them. Two of these towers will also have cages around the crystals. You’ll need to climb the towers to destroy the cages.

Some towers have cages at the top.

You can use your bow to shoot the crystals at the top of the towers. All of the crystals need to be destroyed, as they will heal the Ender Dragon. You can shoot the crystals from the ground, but if you’re finding it difficult then use your scaffolding to ascend the tower to get a better angle to hit it from.

Destroy the cages around the crystals with a pickaxe.

You will have to use the scaffolding to climb the towers to destroy the caged crystals, as the cages cannot be destroyed using projectiles. When you reach the top, use a pickaxe for the most efficient way to destroy the cage. Remember that there are two towers with cages. When the cage and crystal are destroyed, head down the scaffolding or use the water bucket to create a safe space to jump into.

If you destroy a crystal while the Dragon is tethered to it–signaled by a white beam between the Dragon and the crystal–it will cause the Ender Dragon to take more damage when the attack phase begins.

How to avoid being killed by Endermen

As mentioned above, you can carve a pumpkin and wear it as a helmet to avoid Endermen attacking you. However, the limited visibility this provides often isn’t worth it. Instead, try to avoid looking at them directly.

An Enderman can’t attack if you’re stood in water.

If you accidentally do look at one for too long it will become hostile. Use your water bucket and stand in the middle of where the water was placed. If you stay in this safe area, the Endermen will not get closer and therefore cannot hit you with their melee attacks. However, the Ender Dragon can still use its Dragon’s Breath attack, so keep an eye out for it as it will still do damage over time while you’re standing in water.

How to kill the Ender Dragon

You can now begin to damage the Ender Dragon. Use your bow and aim for it as it circles in the air, keeping an eye out for its Dragon Breath attacks. Remember not to look at the Endermen during this time too, as if you anger one, they’ll all become hostile and can actually prove more deadly than the Dragon itself at times.

The Ender Dragon has several hitboxes on its head, body, wings, and tail. Hitting it in the head causes the most damage.

Shoot the Ender Dragon with arrows when it’s in flight.

When the Ender Dragon lands on the perch made of Bedrock in the center of the arena, it’s time for the next stage of the fight. Again, hitting it on the head will cause the most damage, but be careful of its flapping wings, as they’ll cause damage.

The Ender Dragon dying

It will still be using its Dragon’s Breath attack, so use the glass bottles in your inventory to quickly bottle it up, or move away from it. As the Dragon’s health depletes, it will periodically return to the sky to fly around before landing again on its perch. Keep attacking it with arrows in the air, or melee attacks when it’s on its perch, until it’s killed.

Ender Dragon Drops

For defeating the Ender Dragon, you will receive several items. Firstly, you will get 12,000XP in orbs, so run around and collect them all for a huge amount of level boosts. It’s enough to raise your level to 68 from zero, to put that into context. If you resummon the Ender Dragon and defeat it again, it will only drop 500XP.

Secondly, the Dragon Egg will spawn. To safely get it without destroying it, follow these steps:

  • Hit the egg once so it falls from the portal.
  • Mine underneath the egg and place a torch underneath the block it is sitting on.
  • Break the block it is sitting on, and it’ll fall on the torch.
  • You can now pick up the egg and have it in your inventory.

This also grants The Next Generation achievement. There is only one Dragon Egg in each Minecraft world, and there is no way to get more than one without using Minecraft mods.

How to pick up the Ender Dragon Egg.

Finally, defeating the Ender Dragon opens a portal to the End Islands, which gives access to things such as Elytra and Shulker boxes. The portals appear in random locations, and look like a cluster of blocks. There can be up to 20 portals around the main island, and teleport you large distances to the End Islands.

How to resummon the Ender Dragon

You’ll need four End Crystals to summon the Ender Dragon for a repeat of the fight. Place one End Crystal on each side of the perch where the Ender Dragon usually rests during the fight, on the central block. This will cause four beams to shoot up, one from each crystal, which will take it in turns to point to the top of each obsidian tower to create a new End Crystal, and the Ender Dragon will respawn when all of them have spawned.

Resummoning the Ender Dragon.

Fancy a Witcher 3 10th anniversary playthrough with extra “classic RPG feel”? Well, this new mod gives it a totally revamped Witcher 1-style skill system

by admin May 19, 2025

In case you missed it, The Witcher 3 is now a decade old. We’re all knee-deep in replays of old games right now, but if all the TW3 anniversary chat has you thinking about firing it up again, a new mod looks like it’ll offer an interesting twist for folks looking forward to The Witcher Remake.

After all, how best to switcher up your Witcher experience than swapping one Witcher skill system for a different Witcher skill system from an older Witcher game. That way, you can see Witcher is better. All right, I’ll stop mucking about.

The mod is Gerwant30’s Witcher 1 talent trees remake for The Witcher 3, with its creator having previously scored second place on one of CD Projekt’s REDkit modding contests with a work that lets you explore a bit of Cintra.

Now, as part of their ongoing “Tales of the Witcher” project, they’ve had a go at adding their own version of first Witcher game’s skill system into TW3, with the goal of giving you “a lot more control” over Geralt’s development via “13 new talent trees and over 200 new skills”. “This mod attempts to recreate that feeling and philosophy within The Witcher 3,” Gerwant30 explained, “replacing the standard skill trees with a more layered and, hopefully, rewarding progression system.”

Watch on YouTube

As you can see in the showcase video above, the mod sees you work up and earn bronze, silver, and gold talents across trees dedicated to the likes of strength and dexterity as you level up. You’ll start off by earning bronzes early-game, then gradually move on the silvers and golds as you get more proficient and gradually morph into a master witcher.

There are four main skill trees including the two mentioned earlier, each with 17 skills, but that’s far from it. The five Witcher signs each have their own 18 skill strong tree “allowing for deep specialization”, and there are four combat skill trees aimed at “strong” and “fast” attacks with your steel and silver blades.

“Your power comes mostly from how you build your character,” the modder writes, “Skills, talents, and preparation define your strength, equipment statistics are less important.” Certainly a lot to tweak if you’re a fan of in-depth build engineering, though it’s worth noting that this being a beta, a fair amount of the skills and features are still very much a work-in-progress.

It’s also worth noting that Gerwant30’s designed the mod to work exclusively with “a fresh new game in the base version of The Witcher 3 only”, with them being very clear that existing saves and standalone playthroughs of the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine DLC won’t work as intended. They also intend for it to be used with another mod, SkylineR390’s ‘Alchemy’, so you’ll need to grab that if you fancy giving this skill tree mod a go.

PsychoCaki’s ‘SCAAR’ and a camera mod like TheMenxceX and ElementaryLewis’ ‘Immersive Camera for Next Gen’ are also on Gerwant30’s recommended list.

Did you prefer the first Witcher game’s more old-school approach to skills, or is how TW3 does things second nature at this point and not something you’d want to tweak? Let us know below!

Alternate between 14 lives in Level-5’s latest open world fantasy RPG, out on PC this week

by admin May 19, 2025

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is a “Slow Life RPG” in which you live out 14 different lives in… hold on, record scratch and/or Gru’s Plan fourth panel – let me run that premise by myself again. I have to live 14 different lives? How is that “slow”? I have a hard enough time keeping up with one life in the amateurishly designed role-playing game we call reality, with its saddening shortage of rideable dragons.

Ah, but of course developers Level-5 are merely being cute with their framing. By “lives” they really mean classes or character jobs. In this blend of open world boglin basher and island town-builder, you will switch lives like you’re, well, exactly like you’re putting on different coats and hats, going by the trailer. Those 14 lives are split between three self-explanatory categories: under Gathering Lives we find farming and fishing, while Crafting Lives include blacksmithing, alchemy and such, and Combat Lives are all about ending them.

Watch on YouTube

The game launches this week, as detailed on Steam. We haven’t covered it before, and I’m not aware that anybody currently employed at the Treehouse has played the previous instalment on 3DS. I do, however, have many fond memories of Level-5’s older RPGs – Dark Cloud and Chronicle, Ni no Kuni: Wrath Of The White Witch, and let’s not forget Dragon Quest VIII. Still the Dragon Quest to beat, for my onions. Professor Layton? I’m afraid I don’t know him. Did they consult with him on Jeanne D’Arc?

In any case, Fantasy Life i seems as bright and burgeoning and basically happy to exist as any of those games – so chipper and sparkling that I’m willing to forgo murdering the studio leadership for putting that lowercase “i” in the title.

The premise is that you’re part of an archaeological expedition who discover bits of fossilised dragon on an island. In the process, you also find a portal to the distant past that allows you to unravel the mystery of the island’s downfall.

Over the course of the game, you will alternate between roaming the monster-addled continents of yore and terraforming the island in the present, adding houses and decorations and terrain fixtures such as rivers. It’s an Animal Crossing game with its foot stuck in Dragon Quest Heroes. There is talk of saving the world, but it sounds like that comes a very distant second to choosing the wallpaper.

Look out for the game on 21st May. Given the multiple Lives framing, the obvious thing it’s missing is an introspective spiral akin to the tawdry soap opera that is The Alters, in which one man clones himself in order to operate a huge rolling spacebase. If I actually had 14 different lives at my disposal, I guarantee you there would be a pecking order with the Cook at the top of it.

Hideo Kojima’s next espionage game Physint won’t be out for a few years yet

by admin May 19, 2025

Hideo Kojima’s forthcoming espionage game Physint won’t be released for quite a few years yet.

Kojima’s next game, Death Stranding 2, is on the cusp of release, but Physint is already in development alongside Xbox horror game OD.

He even wants to create a film as well, but these game projects are a priority first. “Besides Death Stranding 2, there’s Physint in development,” Kojima told French magazine Le Film Français (via ResetEra). “It’ll take me another five or six years. But maybe after that, I could finally decide to tackle a film.”

8 Things You Need To Know About Death Stranding 2: On The Beach – Hands On Preview, New Gameplay. Watch on YouTube

He continued: “I grew up with cinema. Directing it would be a kind of homage to it. Besides, I’m getting older, and I’d prefer to do it while I’m still young.”

Kojima is now 61 years of age, meaning Physint won’t be released until he’s into his late 60s and, at this rate, a film won’t be likely until he’s in his 70s.

And with a few years to go until Physint, does that mean it could release on Sony’s next console? Back in 2022, a confidential document suggested the company wouldn’t expect a PlayStation 6 until at least 2027. Of course, that may have changed to even later now.

Kojima first announced Physint in 2024, describing it as “the third, new original IP since the establishment of Kojima Productions” and a “completely new ‘Action Espionage’ for the next-generation”. Many fans are expecting it to rival Metal Gear, the series Kojima is most known for.

“PHYSINT (working title)” will be the third, new original IP since the establishment of KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS. It is a completely new “Action Espionage” for the next-generation. It will be created using cutting-edge technology and the best talents from around the world, both from… pic.twitter.com/0vnMXJbGNz

Death Stranding 2 certainly has more than a shade of Metal Gear to it, both in its expanded combat options and its story themes.

At a recent preview for Death Stranding 2, Kojima mentioned the desire from fans for a new Metal Gear game inspired Physint.

“Of course, I have lots of new ideas that I want to create,” he said. “But when I became sick during the pandemic, I realised that a lot of people wanted me to make something like Metal Gear. That’s when I had the idea for a new espionage game. I reflected, and thought the idea was good. I took it to Sony and they were incredibly supportive. We explored many options, and we agreed on doing Physint.”

Still, he told Edge Magazine he’s not “interested in appealing to the mass market”, after test reviews for Death Stranding 2 came out positively.

“Sony is pleased, of course, but I do wish it was a bit more controversial,” said Kojima. “Blockbuster films need an 80 percent approval rating – I don’t want to make games like that. I’m not interested in appealing to the mass market, or selling millions of copies. That’s not what I’m aiming for.”

SAG-AFTRA Files Unfair Labor Practice Complaint Against Epic Games Due To A.I. Darth Vader

by admin May 19, 2025

Last week, Epic Games added a Darth Vader NPC to its battle royale game, Fortnite, as an AI-voiced character. Trained on the voice of James Earl Jones, who is the voice of Vader in the Star Wars movies and elsewhere, it didn’t take long for players to get this NPC Vader to say curse words and slurs, as reported by PC Gamer. Now, three days later, SAG-AFTRA has filed an unfair labor practice complaint with the National Labor Relations Board against Epic-owned signatory company, Llama Productions.

However, it’s not because Fortnite is using AI to give Vader a voice per se. According to the complaint filed today, SAG-AFTRA claims Epic replaced bargained union voice work with this AI without notice, thereby breaking terms and conditions supposedly agreed on by both SAG-AFTRA and Epic.

“Within the past six months, the Employer, by its agents and representatives, failed and refused to bargain in good faith with the union by making unilateral changes to terms and conditions of employment, without providing notice to the union or the opportunity to bargain, by utilizing AI-generated voices to replace bargaining unit work on the Interactive Program Fortnite,” the complaint against Llama Productions reads.

Disney

In a statement released following this filing, SAG-AFTRA says, “We celebrate the right of our members and their estates to control the use of their digital replicas and welcome the use of new technologies to allow new generations to share in the enjoyment of these legacies and renowned roles. However, we must protect our right to bargain terms and conditions around uses of voice that replace the work of our members, including those who previously did the work of matching Darth Vader’s iconic rhythm and tone in video games.”

The company says Llama Productions chose to replace human performers’ work with AI technology but did so “without providing any notice of their intent to do this and without bargaining with us over appropriate terms.” As such, SAG-AFTRA has filed an unfair labor practice complaint against the company with the NLRB.

Jones’ family is aware that an AI voice trained on him was added to Fortnite, as they released a statement confirming they collaborated with Epic to make this happen. They write, “James Earl felt that the voice of Darth Vader was inseparable from the story of Star Wars, and he always wanted fans of all ages to continue to experience it. We hope that this collaboration with Fortnite will allow both longtime fans of Darth Vader and newer generations to share in the excitement of this iconic character.”

Game Informer contacted Epic Games for comment and will update this story if it hears back.

All Water Tower Camcorder Spots

by admin May 19, 2025

Image: Don’t Nod

The water tower in Lost Records: Bloom & Rage is famous for its giant antlers symbolizing Velvet Cove’s dedication to hunting deer. To Swann, it looks like someone was deranged enough to put antlers on the water tower to make it look like the statue of a giant alien overlord, hence the title of her memoir, Our Alien Antler Overlord.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Part 2 Is Short, Shocking, And Strangely Satisfying

In Tape 1 of Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, you can tape the water tower from four different vantage points around town. Each view of the structure is absolutely stunning whether it’s day or night. Here are all the spots where you can tape the Velvet Cove water tower.

Water tower one

Screenshot: Don’t Nod / Kotaku

At the start of the game, you can see the water tower outside of Swann’s bedroom window. You might want to aim the camera from a good angle when trying to capture footage of the tower so it doesn’t get blocked by the window frames. Otherwise, you’ll only see a sliver of one of the antlers.

Water tower two

Screenshot: Don’t Nod / Kotaku

When you head to Movie Palace to return Swann’s latest VHS rental at sunset, capture footage of the water tower from either side of the Movie Palace building. You can tape it from the left side where the van with the yellow canoe on top is parked by the fence, or the right side, where there’s a standee of a scary clown.

Water tower three

Screenshot: Don’t Nod / Kotaku

While you’re at the abandoned playground after dark helping Autumn, Nora, and Kat find the keys to the ice cream shop after Corey threw them over the fence, tape the water tower from above the cargo train. You’ll see some shooting stars in the process.

Water tower four

Screenshot: Don’t Nod / Kotaku

Capture footage of the water from the parking lot of the Blue Spruce before Bloom & Rage’s first concert. The trees that surround it in the blue skies of the early evening make it look like something out of Twin Peaks.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage – Tape 1 and Tape 2 are out now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PCs

How To Find, Harvest, And Use Minecraft Coral

by admin May 19, 2025

Coral was added to Minecraft back in July 2018 as a way to add more color and function to the survival game’s oceans. While coral has limited uses, if you don’t know how to correctly harvest and use it, it could quickly turn dull, lifeless, and boring.

There are five types of coral–tube, fire, horn, bubble, and brain, as well as fanned variants of all of those. They naturally generate in warm ocean biomes in coral reefs, but they need water to survive. Otherwise, they’ll turn into dead coral. Where once they were bright blues, oranges, pinks, and yellows, dead coral turns gray and lifeless.

Coral is found in warm oceans

How to collect Coral in Minecraft

To collect coral, you’ll need a tool with the Silk Touch Minecraft enchantment. It does mine instantly, so unlike Obsidian you won’t need to spend ages harvesting it. That’s especially helpful since it’s underwater. You don’t want to drown, after all.

Occasionally, the Wandering Trader will offer coral blocks for three emeralds. Once you’ve collected Coral, you’ll find it can’t be used to craft anything. It only has one purpose in the game–looking pretty.

Coral needs to be in water to survive

How to use Coral in Minecraft

Now that you’ve got your coral safely from the bottom of the ocean, you can plant it inside lakes, rivers, and aquariums on your base for decoration or to give a nice colorful home to your fish. However, what happens if you want to use it outside of the water?

You can plant coral outside of water itself, but it have access to a water source on at least one side. That means that, technically, you could use coral as a building material as long as you have a hidden (or not so hidden) irrigation system keeping it wet.

If you want to use coral as a decoration, you can place a block of sand and pour a bucket of water on it, waterlogging the block. Then, plant the coral fans on top of the waterlogged block, and they won’t turn into dead coral. You can do this anywhere in the game, with any block that can be waterlogged.
