Nintendo Direct Could Happen Very Soon

by admin September 2, 2025

Even more evidence has come to light that suggests the next Nintendo Direct event could take place very soon. Reliable leaker NateTheHate2 has backed up the initial reports of the next Nintendo Direct coming in September, saying, “Yes, there is a Nintendo Direct in September.”

But when? The leaker said fans can expect it during the second week of September. He said it’s likely to happen on September 11 or 12. That matches up with a previous report that the event could happen on September 12, which is one day before the 40th anniversary of the release of 1985’s original Super Mario Bros.

Now Playing: Nintendo Switch 2 Console Review

As for what might be on tap for the next Nintendo Direct, the leaker said it’s possible the Direct could be the venue for the announcement of the rumored Red Dead Redemption II port for Switch 2.”Maybe? Depends if Nintendo was able to court Rockstar. RDR2 is Switch 2 bound regardless of announcement/reveal venue,” NateTheHate2 said.

The latest Nintendo Direct took place on August 19 and it was a beefy broadcast focused exclusively on Kirby: Air Riders.

Nintendo has held a September Nintendo Direct each September for the past eight out of nine years, so it would be a more notable event if Nintendo did not have a Direct on tap for September 2025.

If the Nintendo Direct is real, it would be the second major platform-holder’s broadcast in September, with the next PlayStation State of Play event lined up for September 3.

Fan-made The Crew revival gets a release date, a year and a bit on from the Ubisoft racer’s controversial shutdown

by admin September 2, 2025

The developers behind The Crew Unlimited, a community project that aims to make Ubisoft racer The Crew playable again following its unceremonious shutdown last year, have announced a release date.

If you need a bit of a refresher, Ubisoft’s decision to take The Crew’s servers offline in March 2024 rendered it totally unplayable even for those who own a physical copy, due to its online-only nature. That’s since served as the spark for the Stop Killing Games campaign we’ve reported on as its organisers have petitioned lawmakers across the world to ensure companies are required by law to put concrete end-of-life plans in place, when they decide to switch a game’s servers off. It also set a group of Crewers off on a quest to make the game playable again.

For a year or so, The Crew Unlimited’s devs have been working towards that goal. They’ve now announced a release date for their creation, which comprises of a server emulator designed to stand in for those Ubisoft took offline. As per an announcement on Discord from project lead whammy4, it’ll come out on September 15th, 2025, and be distributed for free to minimise the chances of the publisher directing their lawyers to intervene.

“We were trying everything we could, anything to preserve the game,” reads The Crew Unlimited’s freshly published website. “We eventually came to the conclusion that writing a server emulator for The Crew was the best and only solution. This would allow us to effectively implement both an Offline Mode and an Online Mode back into the game, Offline Mode simply being a local server running on your computer while playing the game. Your local server, your local savegames, your game. No one will ever be able to take this away from you now.”

The Crew Unlimited’ll be grabbable from that same site once it’s live, and you’ll need to have owned The Crew on PC before to access it, as the devs won’t be illegally distributing game files. You know, because that’d almost definitely result in Ubisoft’s lawyers coming down like a ton of bricks. Though, the project’s Discord FAQ does see them admit that they’ve got no way on their end of telling a legit copy from a pirated copy, so they’ll have to let all players in regardless, which sounds far from ideal.

In a Discord discussion linked in the FAQ, the devs have made some notes about what works in terms of re-downloading your old The Crew save files. I’d say players may well be in for a tricky time getting things up and running. The devs say you’ll need to start from scratch unless you only want to play offline, and have already used a tool they developed to dump your save prior to the game’s shutdown.

Meanwhile, they also hint that their online server may harbour a few additions or changes. That said, the group insist tweaks outside of any new stuff would be limited to “technical improvements and careful rebalancing”, and that they’d “never change the core experience of the game”.

All in all, even though the project’s been public info for around a year now, with whammy4 having posted videos of them driving around in it to YouTube, it’s maybe worth waiting to see how the release plays out before you give it a go.

September’s PS Plus monthly games are now available

by admin September 2, 2025

Those PlayStation Plus subscribers among us are now able to access the monthly games for September.

The three games now available across the service’s Premium, Extra, and Essential tiers are:

  • Psychonauts 2
  • Stardew Valley
  • Viewfinder

If you are yet to play Stardew Valley, now is the time really. Last year, solo developer Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone released Stardew Valley’s bumper 1.6 update, which essentially boosted the game to an almost 2.0 status, introducing a vast number of features to the base game such as new NPC dialogues, home renovations and turtle pets. The developer also recently announced another surprise update, despite saying he was going to hold off until his next game – Haunted Chocolatier – was released.

Psychonauts 2, meanwhile, comes from the always creative minds at Double Fine, and was met with overwhelming praise on its release. Edwin Evans-Thirlwell called it “witty, eccentric and imaginative” in Eurogamer’s own review, noting it had a “more developed understanding of mental health” than its predecessor.

Lastly, we have Viewfinder, which is a puzzle game that asks players to “challenge perception, redefine reality, and reshape the world” all with an instant camera. Chris Donlan called it all “magical” in Eurogamer’s Viewfinder feature.

This is a news-in-brief story. This is part of our vision to bring you all the big news as part of a daily live report.

Lego Batman Animated Series 3D Wall Art Gets Rare Discount At Walmart

by admin September 2, 2025

Lego’s highly detailed recreation of Gotham City’s skyline is on sale at Walmart as part of the retailer’s huge Lego sale dubbed Bricktember. The month-long event includes a bunch of exclusive Lego bundles and deals on seldom-discounted sets such as this Batman: The Animated Series display model. At 4,210 pieces, Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City is the largest Caped Crusader Lego set in print today.

Released last spring with a $300 price tag, this incredible piece of 3D wall art is on sale for $267 while supplies last. Bricktember runs until the end of September, but this is one of the deals that’s very unlikely to remain in stock through the duration of the sale. The same goes for Walmart’s stellar deal on Lego’s Batman Construction Figure and Bat-Pod Bike. Normally $65, Batman fans can snag this 713-set based on The Dark Knight movies for only $45.

Walmart Bricktember Sale: Batman Lego Deals

$267 (was $300) | 4,210 Pieces

Lego’s colorful depiction of Gotham City’s skyline is based on the opening credits from the classic ’90s cartoon. From a design perspective, this is one of the coolest and most intricate builds in the Lego DC Batman lineup, past or present. But you’ll want to make sure you have ample shelf or wall space ready before you begin piecing together this elaborate love letter to Batman’s best animated TV series. The completed Gotham City skyline measures 17 x 30 x 3 inches, including the large Batman: Animated Series logo above the skyline.

If you like building Lego sets cooperatively with a friend or family member, Gotham City’s large canvas sets up well for two people working simultaneously. Lego even includes two instruction booklets with this set.

Similar to the discontinued Lego Art Jim Lee Batman Collection, the Gotham City Skyline can be mounted to a wall or placed on a shelf. For shelf display, it has a flip-out stand to ensure it remains upright.

Though primarily a piece of artwork to admire with your eyes, the depth and layering of the buildings allowed Lego to incorporate neat interactive elements and some secrets. There are 15 removable panels that provide a glimpse inside of iconic locations across Gotham City, including Wayne Manor, the Batcave, and Arkham Asylum. A couple of panels hide small, buildable Batmobile and Batwing vehicles that can be removed and displayed separately.

You’ll even build small, removable Batmobile and Batwing vehicles. Illustrations of Batman’s confrontations with Catwoman, Joker, and Harley Quinn as well as other scenes are rendered behind some of the other panels. Fittingly, the set includes minifigures of those four characters based on their appearances from the show.

Lego DC Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City

If you want to watch Batman: The Animated Series while working on the Lego version of Gotham City, you can get the complete series on Blu-ray for cheap at Amazon and Walmart. Batman: The Complete Animated Series is available for $39 (was $80) right now. The DVD version of the series is on sale for $30 (was $60) at Walmart.

As mentioned, Walmart’s other major Batman Lego deal for Bricktember is a buildable Batman action figure and bike playset based on The Dark Knight. The Batman Construction Figure and Bat-Pod Lego set is down to $45 (was $65).

If you want to build a larger Lego Batmobile from Batman: The Animated Series, check out the 435-piece Batman with Batmobile vs. Harley Quinn and Mr. Freeze Lego set for $48 (was $60). The Batmobile comes with an information placard to attach to the vehicle’s rotating display stand. The three characters mentioned in the set’s name are included as minifigures.

Lego’s most recent DC Batman building set is the 909-piece Batman Forever Batmobile, which launched in August for $100.

On September 9, the Lego Batman lineup will expand once again with the release of the 2,953-piece Arkham Asylum display model for adults. A modular build with many different rooms, the Arkham Asylum set is pitched as both a traditional display model and a buildable holiday calendar. Lego DC Batman: Arkham Asylum is available to preorder for $300 and is exclusive to the Lego Store at launch.

Hollow Knight: Silksong won’t cost nearly as much as they could probably charge for it

by admin September 2, 2025

Team Cherry have confirmed release times and price points for Hollow Knight: Silksong. It’ll cost $19.99, €19.99 and ¥2300 at launch on Thursday 4th September, with pricing for other regions such as the UK to follow. As an indication, the above pricepoints equate to around £17, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they charged £19.99 for it, purely for the sake of symmetry.

It’s traditional among games journalists to illustrate pricepoints in terms of high street chain cups of coffee. But this is Silksong, a game anticipated as fervently as the ancient Mayans once anticipated the coming of an eclipse, so I will resort to more ornate means of comparison: Silksong will cost you 4200000th as much as a B-52 Stratofortress. It will cost you three-sixteenths of your soul on a rainy Friday, or two-sixteenths if the sun is out. It will cost you considerably less than they could probably charge for it. I’m not saying we should be grateful, mind, but we can breathe a sigh of a relief that this isn’t being published by EA, Take-Two or Microsoft.

The game will launch on 7am PT, 10am ET, 3pm BST, and 4pm CEST this Thursday. This means that North American players can take the whole day off so as to rise and shove their gloating faces into Hornet’s adventure, very first thing. You won’t even have to shower first, you bastards. Seething Brits and Europeans must twiddle their thumbs in apoplexy till mid-afternoon, while the poor, sleepless Japanese seemingly won’t get access till 11pm Tokyo time, if I’m converting the timezones correctly.

James was recently able to actually play Silksong at Gamescom, finding it both enjoyable and familiar. “The upside of playing it safe is that absolutely nothing has compromised what made the first game’s action a tactile pleasure: its abnormally fine-tuned controls and pin-sharp audio/visual feedback on hits and jumps,” James wrote.

We had a bit of a ride with the original Hollow Knight. Back in 2017, John Walker (RPS in peace) recommended that people play Ori and the Blind Forest instead. This caused quite the hullabaloo over the subsequent eight years. My sage and considered verdict in hindsight is that they’re both mid and you should play Animal Well. Here’s to another eight years!

Best Roblox song IDs

There’s just something about listening to your favorite music in a public setting and forcing it upon the ears of others. Roblox has turned this real-world nuisance into a series of games on its platform.

Using a database of uploaded songs, players can input Song IDs to blast their song of choice directly into the ears of strangers all over the world. Here are some of the best.

Best songs for Roblox 2025

Prior to a change in March 2022, users could upload virtually any audio file and have it be playable in any game that supported the boombox via a Song ID. The change retroactively made any audio longer than six seconds private. This meant that if you weren’t the person who had originally uploaded the audio file, you would no longer be able to play or hear the sound.

Screenshot by Destructoid

This means the vast majority of Song ID repositories are now functionally useless, and users have been restricted to a much smaller selection of songs and sound clips of varying quality. One important thing to know is that there’s no guarantee that any individual Song ID may work, as they can be made private by either Roblox staff or the user who uploaded it.

Below are 30 absolute bangers to entertain yourself and possibly others around you. I have personally confirmed that each is working at the time of this writing. Go forth, aspiring DJs!

How to search for Song IDs in Roblox

To search for music codes on Roblox, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Roblox homepage
  2. Select ‘Create’
  3. Go to ‘Store’
  4. Select the ‘Audio’ tab
  5. Choose any audio
  6. Hit the arrow on the right side and press ‘More Info’
  7. Copy the numbers within your internet browser’s URL (right after assets)
  8. Paste the numbers to use your music code in-game

You’ll discover many sections on the Audio page, from the top Roblox Song IDs to the newest hits of the day. After you find a song, you can get its ID through ‘More Info.’ Discover the correct number from your URL. For instance, mine came out to ‘create.roblox.com/store/asset/75793628822368/Mirage-Portal.’ Thus, the bolded numbers would be utilized as the Song ID.

How to use music codes in Roblox

Playing music in Roblox varies in each game, as they all have different methods. Sometimes, it can cost money with Robux, while other times, it doesn’t cost a thing. To play music for free, play Catalog Heaven, a game that allows you to customize your avatar and battle nearby bases. Once you start playing, select ‘Catalog’ and type in Boombox. There will be a few choices here, including the Boombox Gear 3.0 and Golden Super Fly Boombox. Choose one of them to trigger a prompt to enter Roblox music codes.

Screenshot by Destructoid

Tap on the Boombox again if you want to change songs. You can also stop the music by unequipping it in your inventory. Besides Catalog Heaven, you can see if other games permit music. I discovered that Jailbreak features a Car Stereo mechanic, costing 200 Robux. With this title, you can type in ‘R’ or tap the radio on the bottom-right corner of the screen. Then, enter any Song ID you prefer to listen to some tunes on Jailbreak.

Screenshot by Destructoid

For the most part, it seems like Roblox titles that use music codes require a subscription pass. Therefore, if you’re unsure whether your game is compatible, check the title’s Subscription & Passes section to see if there’s a radio or stereo feature.

Can I create custom music playlists in Roblox?

Only Roblox game developers can create custom music playlists. It’s associated with a tool used in scripting to create soundtracks for various worlds. If you’re a player, you must manually enter each ID to make your own version of a playlist.

Lego Super Mario World Pixel Art Model Gets Rare Price Cut At Amazon And Walmart

Lego’s Retro Super Mario World Model Gets Huge Limited-Time Discount At Walmart

by admin September 2, 2025

Lego Super Mario World: Mario & Yoshi is on sale for 20% off at Walmart thanks to the retailer’s newly launched Bricktember Sale. The promotion is loaded with exclusive Lego bundles as well as deals on rarely discounted sets. Walmart’s deal drops the price of the 1,215-piece pixel art display model to only $104 (was $130). The Bricktember Sale also includes the largest Lego Super Mario expansion playset. The 1,392-piece Bowser Express Train is discounted to only $80 (was $120).

Last week, Walmart and Amazon both had the Super Mario World Lego set for $117. Only Walmart has the $104 deal at this time, but Amazon’s $117 deal is still active. Lego Super Mario World: Mario & Yoshi launched last October and is one of only a handful of Nintendo Lego sets geared toward adults that is actively being produced today.

$104 (was $130)

Lego Super Mario World: Mario and Yoshi is a 1,215-piece set that authentically captures the pixelated aesthetic from the Super Nintendo era. It’s a fun build to piece together and a fitting display piece for all Super Mario fans, but especially those with a fondness for the 16-bit character designs.

The completed model is 15.5 x 10 x 4 inches and features several interactive components. There’s a dial behind Yoshi’s head that extends his tongue. The crank on the side of the base creates a more elaborate animation. Yoshi’s legs move to make it appear as if he is running. Adding to the illusion is the figure’s quick bouncing motion. Yoshi’s head inches forward and back, and Mario’s cape sways gently, just as it does in the game.

It also has an Action Tag, so if you own one of the Adventures with Lego Super Mario starter courses, the Interactive figures (Mario, Luigi, or Peach) will react.

Lego did a wonderful job making the instructions easy to follow. I used a combination of the physical instruction booklet and the Lego Builder app on iPad. The square pieces used to create the “pixel art” are numbered in the booklet, which was extremely helpful for me as someone with colorblindness.

Though technically part of Lego’s 18-plus “for adults” line, kids who have assembled sets in the 1,000-piece probably won’t have any issues.

Lego Super Mario World: Mario & Yoshi is one of only eight Lego Nintendo display models designed for adults. Earlier this year, Lego launched a 1,972-piece Mario Kart display model for $170. The elaborate build features Mario’s iconic red kart and the first realistic Lego replica of the character’s modern 3D look.

On October 1, exactly one year after Lego Super Mario World: Mario & Yoshi’s launch, Lego’s highly anticipated Game Boy replica will be available at major retailers and the Lego Store. The 421-piece display set only costs $60 and includes two buildable cartridges, three lenticular screens, multiple display stands, and several interactive features. Check out our Lego Game Boy preorder guide for more details, and keep in mind multiple retailers have sold out of preorders numerous times. Preorders sold out at Amazon in late August, but Walmart restocked the Lego Game Boy around the same time.

Lego Nintendo Building Sets for Adults

The most affordable Lego Nintendo display model is the 540-piece Piranha Plant, which you can find on sale at Amazon and Walmart for just $48 (was $60).

Save on the largest Lego Super Mario Playset

Lego Super Mario: The Bowser Express Train

As mentioned, The Bowser Express Train is the largest Lego Super Mario playset by piece count. There are a few Lego Nintendo display models for adults with more pieces–The Mighty Bowser is the biggest overall with approximately twice as many pieces–but the 1,392-piece Bowser’s Express Train is considered a Lego Super Mario Expansion Set. Based on The Bowser Express level in Super Mario 3D World, this elaborate and well-designed build has four train cars, a makeshift station, and numerous interactive elements such as a spring-loaded shooter. It comes with six buildable Lego Super Mario figures.

Up until now, The Bowser Express Train hadn’t received any notable discounts–it almost always sold for full price–so now’s your chance to save $40 on this awesome Bowser-themed Lego set.

“The cat’s out of the bag” – Stardew Valley update 1.7 revealed, bagged cat content TBC

by admin September 2, 2025

Stardew Valley will get at least one more significant game update, says Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, mere months after stating that he doesn’t “want to just be the Stardew Valley guy.” It’ll be called update 1.7, and the trimness of the numbering implies that it’ll be a large one. For context, Stardew Valley update 1.6 brought eight player PC co-op, new crops, a lot more NPC dialogue, a mastery system, new pets, and the ability to give those pets hats (which caused a few problems).

“Okay, I revealed this at the concert last night and now the cat’s out of the bag, so I will confirm for everyone: There will be a Stardew Valley 1.7 update,” Barone wrote on Xitter over the weekend. “No release date, no estimate. But it’s happening.”

Barone is theoretically also working on a brand new game, the more combat-focussed RPG Haunted Chocolatier, but Stardew Valley keeps luring him back, for there is always something else to fix or introduce, however daft. “It’s just so much easier to just add more stuff to Stardew Valley than to make a whole new game from scratch,” he said in May. “Because Stardew Valley, all the systems, the major systems, are already all done. That’s the stuff that’s not fun to do. When I make an update, it’s like, throw in this, throw in that, let’s add green rain. These random ideas I have. Whimsical ideas.”

In Barone’s defence, if I had made the fourth best-selling premium PC game of all time, I would feel in no great rush to move on from it. I would tinker for years. Well, I mean, I would actually take a lot of holidays. But in between all those trips to Alton Towers and when not playing Micro Machines in my bedroom-sized caramel fondue, I would do plenty of tinkering. Ah, I imagine George R. R. Martin wishes he could be updating the old GOT novels instead of writing The Winds Of Winter.

When sitting at the right angle and distance, the curvature really sucks you in. Prices have been coming down over the pas few years too so they’re really not too much to add to your gaming desk. The Alienware 34 curved gaming monitor right now is 20% off too. It’s listed on Amazon at $400, but with the discount, it comes down to just $320. That’s an extra $80 you get to keep in your bank account.

Designed for Gamers

The Alienware monitor measures in at a massive 34 inches. It’s ultra-wide and comes in at a curvature of 1500R. This better reflects the way we perceive our surroundings through our eyes. Our environment isn’t just in front of us, it’s all around us. As overused as the term has becomes, a curved display like this one really does allow your gaming to feel more immersive.

The display is working with a QHD resolution of 1440p and maximum refresh rate of 180 Hz. You can expect smooth and clear responsive gameplay with a low response time of 1ms. AMD FreeSync Premium and VESA Adaptive Sync help improve performance and eliminate screen tearing while you game.

I think we all know at this point staring at a bright screen for hours on end isn’t exactly good for you. If you like to marathon gaming session, the Alienware curved display comes with hardware-based tools in its dedicated console to limit blue light. This can help reduce eyestrain during those long hours of play or work while still preserving a wide depth of color.

Breaking down the various ports and slots, along the read you’ll find two HDMI ports along with one DisplayPort. This will let you connect multiple sources to your Alienware monitor at once. You can use it primarily for your gaming PC but also choose to hook up a console like your Nintendo Switch 2. Just hop between input instead of having to disconnect and rearrange anything on your desk. The display also has two USB-A ports. The display makes cable management simple in its stand design.

Speaking of the stand, it’s fully adjustable. Raise and lower it or tilt the screen toward you with ease. The footprint base is small to save space on your desk despite the massive size of the screen itself.

For a limited time, you can pick up the Alienware 34 curved gaming monitor for just $320.
