Resident Evil Movie Director Says It “Lives In The World” Of These Specific Games

by admin September 3, 2025

After making the successful horror movies Barbarian and Weapons, writer-director Zach Cregger is directing a Resident Evil movie next. He’s now shared more details about it, including why he decided to adapt a story instead of making another original film.

Speaking to Double Toasted, Cregger said he believes his Resident Evil movie is, in fact, “original,” and viewers will understand that when they see it. He didn’t elaborate on this point, however.

Cregger also said he has never seen any of the half-dozen live-action Resident Evil movies from Paul W.S. Anderson that came before his. “I’ve never seen a Resident Evil movie. If there are people out there who are rabid fans of the movie franchise, they are probably not really prepared for what I am going to be doing. But I think fans of the games are going to be stoked,” he said.

Also in the interview, Cregger said his Resident Evil movie will be “true to the experience” of the video games, and probably “lives in the world” of Resident Evil 2 and 3, but that it adheres more to the tone of Resident Evil 4. The game is not a direct adaptation of any Resident Evil game, however.

Cregger said the video games, too, don’t have a set lore and aren’t rigid with timelines or settings. “I don’t think I am taking any more liberties with this [movie] than the game franchise does. I think I am coloring within the lines,” he said.

“I’ve never seen a movie like it,” he added. “I am beyond excited making this.”

The director added that his sense of tone and his general filmmaking sensibilities honed with Barbarian and Weapons will come through in Resident Evil, albeit on a bigger scale and with a bigger budget.

“It takes place in the world of the games, but most importantly, the journey you’ll have as a viewer watching this movie is going to be similar to the journey you have as a player when you play these games. What that means is it follows one protagonist from point A to point B as they descend deeper and deeper and deeper into hell,” he said. “As someone who has played I don’t know how many thousands and thousands of hours of Resident Evil, I just feel like I know how that pacing can go, and it’s inherently cinematic. I feel like there is a great movie that can live inside this world and inside that sort of pacing. I am really, really pumped about the story that we get to tell here.”

Finally, Cregger confirmed the shooting schedule for Resident Evil, saying cameras are due to begin rolling this October in Prague and continue through the end of January 2026. Why Prague? Cregger cited the city’s generous tax rebates and other factors. “It’s the right place,” he said.

The Resident Evil movie is slated for release in September 2026. Official casting announcements have not been made, but Weapons actor Austin Abrams may appear in it.

Arrowhead will target Helldivers 2’s “crippling” tech issues now Xbox release is sorted, but would rather not do a “performance-only update”

by admin September 3, 2025

Shams Jorjani, boss of Helldivers 2 developers Arrowhead, has taken to Discord to address the rise in reports of performance issues following the arrival of the shooter’s Into the Unjust update. In addition to admitting that the new addition has missed the mark from a stability pespective, the exec added that the game’s Xbox release now being in the rear view mirror should free up more resources to tackle performance problems.

Since the Terminid spelunking expedition-themed update arrived yesterday, players have cited an uptick in crashes that Arrowhead are already looking into, with the installation size the game’s ballooned to on PC and your usual sorts of pesky bugs also being sources of ire, at least among vocal online Helldivers.

In light of that, Arrowhead CEO Jorjani made one of his fairly regular trips to Helldivers 2’s Discord server last night, to address some of the concerns folks there were raising. “Performance is something we’ve talked about a TON today. It’s not good enough,” he admitted fairly early on. “A fix for some of the most immediate things is being prepped.”

“Nobody is saying ‘this is fine’ at Arrowhead or PlayStation,” he added an a separate post. “We are talking about what to do differently – cus we really want to release content AND keep performance in line. With [the] Xbox release behind us more resources will be available.” Jorjani made the last point a number of times, when discussing fixes for performance issues that’ve drawn ire from players on and off for a while, but have come to a head with this update.

The update isn’t the root cause of the issues. Instead, the CEO links them to a build-up of engine-related limitations he calls “technical debt”. “The technical debt is crippling,” he wrote in another of these many posts. “With the Xbox release behind us we’ll be able to take a much better stab at it. Like a double stab with a bigger knife.”

Jorjani reckons a single massive performance-focused update – something he said Arrowhead would “prefer not to have to do”, but will if it’s “needed” – wouldn’t be enough to tackle all of this tech debt. He also suggested that pulling all the game’s developers off of creating new additions, like warbonds, and putting them onto fixes isn’t the simple solution it might seem, writing: “if we could put every single soul on just performance/stability and significantly improve those we would – but not everyone can make an impact on performance and the issues that need to be fixed are complex and take time to work at.”

I didn’t run into any major issues while dipping my toe into the update last night, but here’s hoping Arrowhead can offer some performance relief soon. For now, their CEO doesn’t reckon this uptick in player dissatisfaction has put the shooter back in as dire straits as it found itself following the Escalation of Freedom update last year. The studio ended up unveiling a 60-day plan of tweaks, in an effort to turn around player sentiment back then.

While acknowledging there are “definitely some similarities” between the two situations, Jorjani argued that this time it at least isn’t a double whammy of player frustrations about how the game plays mechanic-wise and how it runs. “Since then, I think it’s safe to say we’ve fixed one thing and kept wobbling on the other,” he wrote. “I hope we proved back then that we won’t give up till we get it right.”

Fighting game players in uproar after Evo’s new Saudi government owners, calls to support grassroots events

by admin September 3, 2025

Fighting game players are up in arms following news that RTS – a gaming talent agency and owner of the Evo tournament series – has been acquired by the Saudi Arabian mega city project Qiddiya.

This news came yesterday afternoon via an official statement by CSO at Qiddiya Muhannad Aldawood, who wrote on Linkedin: “Excited to share that Qiddiya has acquired full ownership of RTS, a strategic step that will further strengthen our esports business and unlock new opportunities across the broader gaming ecosystem. And most importantly, this will enable Qiddiya to keep fueling the continued growth of Evolution Championship Series (EVO), the world’s largest fighting game event since 1996, with unlimited [potential].”

The response online from fighting game community members was largely one of disappointment, as various fans of the genre came out to express sadness at the new owners and emphasised the importance of supporting grassroots community-run events. Saudi Arabia has been criticised by Human Rights organisations for its prolific use of slavery, the death penalty, and more.

Here’s the recent Sagat trailer for Street Fighter 6Watch on YouTube

Professional Street Fighter 6 player ChrisCCH, who previously refused a place at the Saudi-owned Esports World Cup, wrote on X: “Not terribly surprising, but still unfortunate news. Sad for the LGBTQ+ members of the community, and also worried about the scene becoming increasingly funded by money that will disappear as soon as the funders get bored.”

Sajam, a popular commentator and content creator within the fighting game space, stated: “I think the news personally just makes me want to think about more ways to create cool stuff for the rest of our community. It feels like the pieces that belong to fighting game fans are shrinking all the time.”

With a general distaste around Evo following the news, some have looked to other American alternative events to attend, including CEO. One user on X Roycebracket summed up their thoughts with: “CEO is about to become the real evo” while LandedIt took a more humorous approach, writing: “Glory to Alex Jebailey ceo 2026 4 jebaillion entrants”.

In response to the news, Evo general manager Rick Thiher posted his own statement: “Everything I have worked on in fighting games has been with the ambition of bringing our communities together. Inclusivity, community, and connectivity matter to me. It’s deeply personal that they remain part of what I work on and that the future of Evo respects that.”

Whether or not this uproar on social media actually manifests into a material impact on the future of Evo remains a question mark: there’s a big difference between expressing displeasure on Twitter and taking actual action.

Surprise Press Conference Reveals Trump Still Not Dead

by admin September 3, 2025

After a weekend of online speculation, conspiracies, and jokes about President Donald Trump’s current state of health, the controversial leader held a conference in the White House that was technically about Space Command moving from Colorado to Alabama, but served as a proof of life for many online. And when he appeared alive and mostly well, a lot of people were disappointed.

Starting late last week, rumors began to swirl online that something had happened to President Donald Trump. Reports of music being played in the Rose Garden led some to speculate that it was covering up doctors shouting or the aging President crying out in pain. As the weekend continued, Trump seemed to spend most of the holiday inside the White House. When he did appear outside, photos showed a man who many claimed looked extremely tired, out of it, and sickly. It didn’t help that the White House and Trump shared a photo that claimed to be the President golfing over the weekend, but which was actually from earlier. A popular thread spread on Twitter with all sorts of claims, including theories related to Trump keeping his mouth open more often and bruises seen on his hands.

So when the White House announced on Monday that Trump was going to make an announcement about…something, people were extremely curious to see the president. Was he dead? Was he alive? Was he being puppeted by VP JD Vance? Sadly for those wishing for the worst, Trump appeared mostly fine and as stable as you’d expect during his Tuesday conference.

On YouTube and Twitch, the chat quickly turned hostile and disappointed when Trump appeared and began speaking without any signs of a stroke or other medical issue. And on BlueSky and other social media platforms, people expressed their disappointment that Trump was still alive and kicking. Others pored over every frame of him talking during the event to see if they could spot any signs of something wrong.

— RAYMAGEDDON‼️ (@Raymagedd0n) September 2, 2025

At one point during the conference, which was primarily about Trump moving Space Command’s HQ from Colorado to Alabama, Trump was asked by a reporter about the rumors of his death and medical emergency over the holiday weekend. This didn’t go over well with Trump, who first denied hearing about this, and then seemingly confirmed he had heard the rumors about his untimely demise.

“I also did a number of Truths,” he said, referring to his posts on social media network Truth Social. “Long Truths, and I think pretty poignant Truths,” said Trump. “No, I was very active over the weekend.” Trump also claimed the media, aka “Fake News,” incorrectly reported on his death or illness, adding: “[The media asked] Is he okay? How’s he feeling? What’s wrong?”

Here’s the video of the full conference, which, as of 3:15 pm EST, was still dragging as Trump talked about many other topics, including school shootings, elections, and more.

Save 50% On Disney Lorcana's Single-Player & Co-Op Card Game

Save 50% On Disney Lorcana’s Single-Player & Co-Op Card Game

by admin September 3, 2025

Disney Lorcana’s latest standalone card game is up for grabs for an incredibly low price at Amazon. For a limited time, you can save 50% on Illumineer’s Quest: Palace Heist, dropping the price from $60 down to only $30. This is the lowest price yet for Palace Heist, which launched in June as part of the TCG’s Reign of Jafar set. Palace Heist is a standalone game that can be played solo or cooperatively with another player. This makes it ideal for brand-new players and seasoned Lorcana enthusiasts looking for a change of pace. Palace Heist is only the second cooperative game in the Disney Lorcana TCG’s two-year history.

Palace Heist isn’t the only Lorcana deal at Amazon right now. Collectors can save on various Booster Boxes, Illumineer’s Trove bundles, budget-friendly Gift Sets, Starter Decks, and the Gateway Board Game. We rounded up Amazon’s best Disney Lorcana TCG deals at the bottom of this story.

Amazon is also taking preorders for Disney Lorcana TCG: Fabled ahead of the new set’s launch this Friday, September 5.

$30 (was $60)

Palace Heist comes with everything you need to play the new standalone game, including two player decks with 60 cards each, a scenario deck themed around the Aladdin villain, a playmat, and a bunch of other game pieces and tokens.

Illumineer’s Quest is designed to be a replayable experience and offers four different difficulty levels. Players place character and item cards from their deck on the game mat and square off against Jafar’s 50-card deck. Your objective is to make it through the palace and secure the Reforged Crown. It’s not a straightforward journey, however, as Supreme Sorcerer Jafar has plenty of tricks up his sleeve to impede your progress.

Palace Heist is a compelling variant on Lorcana that is especially great for those who don’t always have someone around to battle. It’s also a good tool to introduce new players to the game, since it’s fully playable as a single-player experience as well as cooperatively with one other player. You can also use the cards in the standard Lorcana TCG.

Illumineer’s Quest: Palace Heist includes the following:

  • 1 Jafar Scenario Deck (50 cards)
  • 2 Player Decks (60 cards each)
  • 1 Oversized Jafar Card
  • 4 Battleground Cards
  • 1 Reforged Crown Tile
  • 1 Palace Heist Playmat
  • 1 Jafar Draw Token
  • 5 Lore Tracker Tokens
  • 29 Damage Counters
  • 1 Victory Card
  • Palace Heist Rules Sheet

As mentioned, this is the second Illumineer’s Quest game. The first, Deep Trouble, released as part of the Ursula’s Return set in May 2024. Illumineer’s Quest: Deep Trouble still regularly sells for full price, though you can save a few bucks at Amazon. It’s worth clarifying that Palace Heist and Deep Trouble are different games with unique scenarios and entirely separate decks of cards, so both games are worth checking out.

Disney Lorcana TCG: Illumineer’s Quest: Palace Heist

Along with the terrific deal on Palace Heist, Amazon has the Disney Lorcana TCG: Gateway Board Game for $19.88 (was $25). Gateway teaches new players how to play Lorcana’s traditional competitive card game, and it’s an especially great introduction for parents to play with kids. Several Lorcana Booster Boxes are up for grabs for $30-$40 off. Reign of Jafar’s Booster Box is available for $115 (was $144); the best deal is the Azurite Sea Booster Box for $98. Each box comes with 24 booster packs with 12 cards in each, so you’re getting 288 cards total.

Though not marked as a deal, it’s worth noting that Amazon recently relisted the Into the Inklands Bundle for $35. Originally released in early 2024, this budget-friendly bundle comes with two single-player decks, six booster packs, and a Glimmer Foil Mickey Mouse Pirate Captain promo card. The bundle originally sold for $45 and was thought to be out of print, so Amazon’s restock lets collectors circle back to Lorcana’s third set. And if you’d like to return to the Lorcana’s original set, Amazon has restocked two of The First Chapter Starter Decks.

Disney Lorcana TCG: Fabled Set Launches September 5

Disney Lorcana TCG: Fabled Set

Lorcana’s next set, Fabled, is themed around classic Disney animated movies and characters, including Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Fabled is also notable because it has cards themed around A Goofy Movie, and everyone loves that delightful animated film. Amazon is taking preorders for Booster Boxes, Starter Decks, and Booster Packs. Illumineer’s Trove isn’t available to purchase from Amazon, but you should be able to order it later this week.

Build your own spaceship body as you fly in Jitter, an asteroid-heavy physics-based survival sim

Build your own spaceship body as you fly in Jitter, an asteroid-heavy physics-based survival sim

by admin September 3, 2025

I guess the simplest way to describe Jitter is that it’s Heat Signature, the hectic spaceship hijacking game from Suspicious Developments, but you are the spaceship, not the hijacker, and also, you can glue pieces of other ships onto yourself, like in Captain Forever, and also, this looks a bit like Lemmings on the Game Boy. Boil that down, and we have a brand new subgenre, the Hot Lemming Boy Foreverlike, which… let’s maybe forget I wrote the words “Hot Lemming Boy Foreverlike”. Let’s proceed without further reflection to this video showcasing the combat.

Watch on YouTube

If the above description confuses and alarms you, there’s a cleaner one on the game’s Steam page. “Jitter is an immersive sci-fi exploration and survival game set on a mining colony and its outskirts in the Main Asteroid Belt,” it reads. “You assume the role of an experimental AI that maintains ship functions and engages with the crew on board. As you explore the mining colony, you will take on new missions, expand ships and bases using various modules, add survivors to your crew, engage in space fights, and repair the damage left by enemy fire and onboard accidents.”

Cue impressive scenes of your greenish top-down AI core chewing through asteroids like a lemming through a baguette. Shoo, lemming! That’s my lunch, not an asteroid, and since when do lemmings eat asteroids, anyway.

No time for lunch, though, because it’s time to talk about simulation systems. As in FTL, you’ll organise the generation and flow of power and oxygen around your craft as you expand it, ensuring that you still, for example, have the means to swiftly fix hull breaches while adding gun turrets to the design. It might sound like it requires a shedload of menus, but the largely mouse-based controls are quite simple for a game of this fiddliness. There’s a demo on Steam, if you’d like to try for yourself.

If the idea of playing an AI seems dry, may I draw your attention to the line above about your crew. It consists of named humans with fetching character portraits and bespoke abilities. You’ll shepherd them through boarding actions, opening airlocks and tactically clicking rooms to have them survive against greater numbers. Beware: if you lose one of the story-critical ones, it’s game over. This seems to rule out the possibility of being an Evil AI, alas, though there’s definitely scope for venting the odd humanoid in a fit of cybernetic pique.

I’ve enjoyed what I’ve played of Jitter, though it’s a bit too processing-intensive for my work laptop, with all manner of physics-enabled celestial body bouncing around the playing field. There’s no release date yet, but developers Berko Games posted in June that they’re now focussing on “the final major updates before our Early Access release”.

Their practical difficulties include living in Ukraine, a country that has been fighting off a Russian invasion for three and a half years. “It’s not easy working under drone and missile strikes, but your attention and support should remain focused on the game itself,” the developers comment briefly in a recent update about the game’s NPC vessel behaviour.

No Man’s Sky Fans Are Doing Wild Stuff With Voyagers Update

by admin September 3, 2025

After its initial reveal in 2013, anticipation for No Man’s Sky was astronomical–until it fell off of a procedurally generated cliff as eager virtual space explorers found the initial 2016 release a little too anemic, and lacking many features promised by Hello Games co-founder Sean Murray. The game’s devs, however, weren’t satisfied letting NMS drift off into the vacuum of forgotten games.

Read More: No Man’s Sky Goes Full Star Trek Mode In Latest Massive Update

The Voyagers update, the latest in the studio’s persistent efforts to improve and deepen the experience of exploring its procedural universe, has been a hit with the game’s community. Allowing players to construct their own ships with fully traversable interiors and more, the update has seen a wild influx of players come to the game, the most since its launch on Steam in 2018.

Taking to X, Sean Murray shared that on September 1, which coincided with the Labor Day holiday in the U.S., NMS saw just under 100,000 concurrent players.

Highest number of players since launch 🤯 pic.twitter.com/d51JpviRb2

— Sean Murray (@NoMansSky) September 1, 2025

The game has also surged to second place in the top-10 most played Steam Deck games for the past week, surpassed only by Hollow Knight (fans of that game must be excited about something, I imagine). With so many players jumping in to play with the game’s new shipbuilding mechanics, the internet is full of cool new designs, including original creations, builds modeled after classic science fiction ships, and of course more than a few silly ones, such as this recreation of a Nokia 3310.

Legends say he flew it into a black hole and the black hole blinked@NoMansSky #NoMansSky@hellogames@Griff_ pic.twitter.com/Dq7T8LCUcS

— Ray Reynolds (@RayReynoldsNMS) September 2, 2025

But while the ability to build new ships with fully furnished interiors is perhaps Voyagers’ most attention-grabbing addition to the game, the chance to finally float out in space is also drawing in players, inspiring some to take daredevilish skydiving trips from orbit down to the surface. And yes, folks are doing it in VR as well.

It may be hard for No Man’s Sky to fully match the level of hype early trailers inspired in the 2010s, but seeing what players are up to now with the Voyagers update sure as hell makes it feel like it’s finally become the epically endless space sim many of us were so excited to play.

Check Out This Lego Star Wars AT-ST UCS Bundle Deal Before It’s Gone

by admin September 3, 2025

As part of Walmart’s Bricktember Sale, Star Wars fans can get Lego’s Darth Vader Helmet display model for only $10 with the purchase of the AT-ST Walker Ultimate Collector Series. The AT-ST Walker launched August 1 for $200, and Walmart’s bundle deal is $210. This deal has already sold out once since Walmart’s big Lego promotion started September 1, and the retailer only had a few remaining at the time of writing on September 2.

It’s one of four Lego Star Wars bundle deals available exclusively at Walmart. The Darth Vader Helmet is also featured in a bundle with the new Kylo Ren Lego Helmet for $99.

Lego Star Wars 2-in-1 Bundles at Walmart

Walmart also has an exclusive Lego Star Wars 3-in-1 Gift Set featuring a bunch of minifigures and droids for $45.

Updated on September 2

Editor’s Note: You can read our original story from August 1 below, but prices and deals listed below may no longer be accurate.

Lego launched nine new Star Wars playsets and display models on August 1, including the latest Ultimate Collector Series build for adults. The 1,513-piece, highly detailed recreation of the AT-ST Walker transport vehicle costs $200, which makes it the cheapest member in the exclusive UCS club in print today.

The AT-ST Walker UCS was revealed in early July, but preorders were only ever available at Amazon. Now that launch day has arrived, you can grab the AT-ST Walker at Walmart, Target, Lego Store, and Best Buy. It’s also worth noting that Jango Fett’s Firespray-Class Starship, the UCS build for Star Wars Day this year, is no longer exclusive to the Lego Store. The 2,970-piece model from Attack of the Clones is up for grabs for $300 at Amazon.

Lego Star Wars New Sets (August 1)

$200

The All Terrain Scout Transport, better known as AT-ST, has been part of the Star Wars movie universe since The Empire Strikes Back. The 1,513-piece building set creates a detailed replica that looks quite similar to the AT-ST from Return of the Jedi.

The completed build measures 14.5 x 8.5 x 8.5 inches and has multiple interactive components, including an openable top hatch covering the cockpit, a rotating head, viewport shutters, and adjustable laser cannons. The AT-ST is well-known for its unique gait that resembles a chicken. Lego’s AT-ST has articulated legs, so you can move it around like a real chicken walker.

As an Ultimate Collector Series set, this AT-ST has a myriad of small details that you won’t find on transport walkers in Lego’s playsets. The spacious two-person cockpit has finer details that make it more aligned with its appearance in the movies. UCS builds also take a more thoughtful approach when it comes to layering and visible studs, and the promotional images reflect that here. The build process is generally more complex with an Ultimate Collector Series set, so the AT-ST and UCS sets are recommended for experienced builders ages 18 and up.

Like all UCS Star Wars builds and other large-scale display models, the AT-ST comes with an information plaque and a minifigure. Appropriately, the minifigure for this kit is an AT-ST Driver.

Lego Star Wars: AT-ST UCS 75417

The rest of the kits in Lego’s August lineup are marketed toward younger Star Wars fans, but adult builders will probably be interested in at least two of the large buildable character figures. Lego designed an adorable 1,010-piece Wicket the Ewok model from Return of the Jedi and an 845-piece K-2SO Security Droid from Rogue One.

Technically, there’s a 10th new set, as two of them are also available in a discounted bundle called the Epic Battle Set, which comes with a bonus miniature Millennium Falcon (Lego Polybag). Speaking of bundles, Walmart released an exclusive 3-in-1 Lego Star Wars Gift Set this week for $45, and it’s likely to sell out fast.

The new AT-ST is actually the second in Lego’s Ultimate Collector Series. The first one released back in 2006 and has been retired for many years at this point. The upcoming model is far more detailed, partially because it has roughly 500 additional pieces, but also simply because Lego has upped its game over time.

As mentioned, the $200 AT-ST Walker is currently the most affordable set in the Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series. There are a few others available for under $250, including the TIE Interceptor Starfighter, X-Wing Starfighter, and Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder.

  • AT-ST Walker (1,513 pieces) — $200
  • Jango Fett’s Firespray-Class Starship (2,970 pieces) — $300
  • TIE Interceptor Starfighter (1,931 pieces) — $230
  • Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder (1,890 pieces) — $240
  • X-Wing Starfighter (1,949 pieces) — $240
  • Jabba’s Sail Barge (3,942 pieces) — $500
  • The Mandalorian’s Razor Crest Starship (6,187 pieces) — $600
  • Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser (5,374 pieces) — $630 ($650)
  • Millennium Falcon (7,541 pieces) — $815 ($850)
  • AT-AT Walker (6,785 pieces) — $1,148 (MSRP was $850)

Helldivers 2’s Into the Unjust update has caused an uptick in crashes, and Arrowhead are “working to isolate fixes”

by admin September 3, 2025

Helldivers 2’s Terminid spelunking update, dubbed Into the Unjust, has dropped from orbit today, September 2nd. Sadly, that hellpod’s impact with the game’s surface looks to have triggered an uptick in crash reports, and Arrowhead are now busy “working to isolate fixes”.

If you missed the update’s announcement the other day, Edwin was strapped into the news driver’s seat at the time, and has a nice rundown of what’s in it here. He even consulted some very real geographers, the absolute pro. The short version? Terminid cave missions on Hive Worlds to aid Super Earth’s efforts to fight an evil cloud, and some new enemies flying around.

Sadly, as Arrowhead have been admirably transparent about in the past, new additions to Helldivers 2 tend to bring with them a helping of new issues that need shooting into submission. Into the Unjust’s been no different, with a wave of fresh crash reports leading community manager Katherine Baskin to let players know via Discord that the devs are on the case.

“We are aware of the issues with crashing, which are NOT in accordance with Super Earth Standards and we are working to isolate fixes now. We apologize for this delay and will report back with updates soon,” she wrote. Phew, now the many folks writing their own individual Reddit posts about encountering crashes can chill out a bit.

Speaking of the Helldivers 2 subreddit, in my trip there to check just how widespread the crash chatter was, I ran into a number of folks also registering their unhappiness at quite how beefy the game’s file size is getting on PC. As someone who’s had the update installing onto my games box since late this morning, and as of yet hasn’t had it finish patching all of its files, that really hit me where I live.

It’d be unwise to assume that the file size is the only factor contributing to Helldivers 2 taking a while to update – I’m usually the first to go the other way and assume the problem must be on my end – but given a thread on the subject’s amassed 9.1k upvotes and just under 800 comments in about six hours, landing near the top of the subreddit, it’s maybe worth Arrowhead looking into. That said, in my case there’s also the fact I’ve been using my PC to do my job while Into the Unjust’s been downloading, and that may well have had an impact.

Regardless, I’ve got some bug spelunking planned for tonight, so you may well hear about my travails if anything noteworthy or wacky happens.

Paramount And Activision Strike Deal To Make Call Of Duty Movie

by admin September 3, 2025

In the latest “Can’t believe this hasn’t already happened” installment of news, a Call of Duty film is in the works. Paramount, the movie and television studio behind Top Gun: Maverick, Halo, and more, announced today that it struck a deal with Call of Duty publisher Activision to produce a live-action feature-length film.

“Under this milestone partnership, Paramount will develop, produce, and distribute a live-action feature film based on Call of Duty, designed to thrill its massive global fan base by delivering on the hallmarks of what fans love about the iconic series, while boldly expanding the franchise to entirely new audiences,” a press release reads. “Both companies are committed to honoring the brand’s rich narrative and distinctive style, promising an authentic and exciting experience for longtime fans and newcomers alike.”

Activision president Rob Kostich writes in the press release that this movie will “honor and expand upon what has made this franchise great in the first place” to create an “unforgettable blockbuster movie.” Paramount CEO and chairman David Ellison writes, “We’re approaching this film with the same disciplined, uncompromising commitment to excellence that guided our work on Top Gun: Maverick, ensuring it meets the exceptionally high standards this franchise and its fans deserve.”

There’s no word on which direction this film adaptation of Call of Duty will take, but considering the game series has featured campaigns set during World War 2, the Vietnam War, riffs on the War on Terrorism, as well as fictional modern war campaigns, and stories set in the near future and far future, too, Paramount has plenty to work with.
