Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.6 brings new forms for Dan Heng and March 7th, and you can earn one of them for free

by admin September 12, 2025

The Honkai: Star Rail livestream just ended, and it brought us a first look at Version 3.6, and confirmed a few of the fan theories that have been going around. To begin with, 3.6 is titled Back to Earth in Evernight, and it’s going to arrive September 24.

If that title wasn’t enough of a hint, 3.6 will indeed deliver for fans of March 7th, and Dan Heng, and there’s even more great news for longtime players.

Honaki: Star Rail Version 3.6 marks the start of a new storyline that will unfold over several chapters in the future. Miss Evernight’s Era Nova project is at the centre, and there’s a lot at stake for the world of Amphoreus.

The new story sees the return of Dan Heng, who’s going back to Amphoreus to reunite with the Express Crew. Which leads us nicely into the two new characters joining the roster. Evernight is a 5-Star Ice character who follows the Path of Remembrance. Evernight, of course, is a new form of March 7th’s, one of Star Rail’s starting characters.

Evernight is designed to fight with Memosprites summons. She increases the crit damage of all Memosprites on any team she’s on. This bonus grows the more characters on the team follow the Path of Remembrance. Evernight has her own summon, Evey, which grants her Memoria when summoned. The more of that she gathers, the higher Evey’s damage output.

Her Ultimate deals damage to all enemies, and places herself and Evey in a state called Darkest Riddle, which increases both of their damage outputs for as long as it lasts.

Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae is the second playable character in 3.6. Like Evernight, this is also a new form of one of the game’s earliest characters, that being Dan Heng, of course. This evolved version (also 5-Star) of Dan Heng is post-Imbibitor Lunae, taking him further down the Path of Permanence.

Permansor Terrae is the name of his newly-unlocked power, which allows him to be a better defensive character. The way this takes form in combat is that he can pick one teammate and designate them as Bondmate, which summons a Souldragon for them. This form also grants all allies an additional Shield. Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae’s Ultimate deals damage to all enemies, and grants more Shields to the team, while enhancing the Souldragon.

Permansor Terrae may be the easier of the two new characters to get, because anyone (at Trailblaze Level 3 or above) who logs in can claim him for free. This offer is available until the end of Version 4.0.

There’s more new content worth mentioning in Version 3.6, too. Anomaly Arbitration, the high-difficulty trial, arrives alongside the update. Anomaly Arbitration is made up of three trial stages, with one final stage.

You’ll need to form a separate team for each trial stage. Clearing all stages earns you an Interference Key, a new item, alongside other rewards. MiHoYo said you can also expect more events to roll out gradually, including the seasonal Colorful Mayhem.

The other major feature in 3.6 is Main Story Replay, which does exactly what you think. You can replay any Trailblaze Mission, Trailblaze Continuance, and Companion Mission, so long as you’ve previously completed them. The feature even lets you pick the specific segments/cutscenes you want to reexperience.

French Lara Croft actor starts lawsuit over alleged AI-generated voice lines in Aspyr’s Tomb Raider remasters

by admin September 12, 2025

Françoise Cadol, the long-time French voice actor for Lara Croft, has reportedly launched legal action against Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered publishers Aspyr over alleged use of generative AI to replicate her voice for lines in the game. Cadol claims Aspyr didn’t contact her to ask for permission, and it appears the voice of Croft in at least one other dub of the remasters may have been put in a similar position.

According to a report from French publication Le Parisien, spotted by TheGamer, Cadol has issued a cease and desist to Aspyr over the matter.

We’ve reached out to Aspyr for comment.

It looks like the alleged AI-generated lines may have been added to the game by Patch 2 in mid-August. The notes for that patch include one that reads: “Restored missing or incorrect voiceover lines in various languages (especially Brazilian Portuguese)”.

Cadol told Le Parisien she’d been alerted to the possible use of genAI to mimic her lines in the remaster by Tomb Raider fans, who’ve circulated what they believe to be examples of it happening on social media. Some of the lines supposedly using genAI in the remaster look to be tutorial instructions telling you how to do things like climb, with the comparison below featuring some different wording in the Remastered versions of some lines. The apparent genAI lines have a more robotic edge to them, in contrast to the natural inflections Cadol speaks with in the original.

The French version isn’t the only dub of the game to have allegedly done this. Lene Bastos, Croft’s Brazilian Portuguese actor, has posted a video to Instagram stating that Tomb Raider fans have informed her that some of voice lines appear to have been subject to AI generation in the remasters. Bastos claims to have recieved a message from Aspyr about it, with the publishers putting the blame at the feet of an external development partner and telling her the lines will soon be removed in the game’s next patch.

Voice actors fighting for protections against the possibility of companies using generative AI to mimic their voices was a key element of the SAG-AFTRA strike that concluded a few months ago. “Basically you have to get our consent to make a digital replica of us,” Horizon and Borderlands voice actor Ashly Burch told the BBC when the strike was suspended. “You have to tell us how you’re going to use it, and then you have to compensate us fairly.”

Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann Discusses Intergalactic Gameplay And Casting In New Interview

by admin September 12, 2025

Game Informer spoke with Naughty Dog president and The Last of Us director Neil Druckmann last year on the set of The Last of Us Season 2. Since then, he’s revealed he is stepping back from Season 3 of the show to focus on developing the studio’s next game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which Naughty Dog revealed at The Game Awards 2024 last December.

In a new interview with Variety, Druckmann discussed a number of things about Intergalactic, including casting Tati Gabrielle as the game’s lead, Jordan A. Mun, working with Joel actor Troy Baker again, casting The Last of Us Season 2 actor Tony Dalton (who played Joel’s dad), and more.

Perhaps the most revealing statement from Druckmann came when Variety asked him about his description of Intergalactic as having “the deepest gameplay” in Naughty Dog history.

“You can look at our previous titles and see the evolution going from ‘Uncharted,’ where we’re really cutting our teeth on a realistic character-action game, third-person shooter, combined with emotional storytelling,” Druckmann said. “With ‘The Last of Us,’ we added some RPG elements, we started playing with wide linear layouts. Continue that trajectory forward, add sci-fi, and you start to get the sense of what we’re doing, and then we’ve gotten even more ambitious than that.”

My money’s on a deep, third-person, character-driven RPG with multiple open hubs to explore, and I hope I’m right.

When asked about Gabrielle’s casting, Druckmann explains Naughty Dog had an idea of who protagonist Jordan is as a character, but via documents and backstories – scripts and gameplay come much later as the team wants the space to “run experiments and prototypes and then see what works, what doesn’t work,” and so on.

“We were kind of at that stage when we started talking to [Gabrielle],” Druckmann told Variety. “That came about because we had just cast her in Season 2 [of The Last of Us], and just got the idea that she might be perfect for this role. Then she showed up, she came by Naughty Dog, I pitched her the story as it was at the time, and we kind of walked through it beginning, middle, end, and explained what her role would be.

“I asked her if she’d be willing to audition, and she was. We had her on stage, and I asked Troy to come in and read with her, so she read against Troy Baker. We were just very confident that is our Jordan A. Mun.”

Druckmann says since then, he’s been writing with Gabriella, something he did with Ellie actor Ashley Johnson and Baker when making The Last of Us. “[Gabrielle’s] been just as influential in the writing and the thinking of this character, her arc, and I believe she’s gonna be very iconic and complex and interesting in the Naughty Dog tradition.

Speaking of Baker, Druckmann says, “Troy is in the game, and it’s been five years since I’ve worked with Troy, and I’ve got to do it again, and it was a lot of fun to be on stage with him again.”

The final piece of casting information from this interview is about Dalton. Druckmann says after working with him on Episode 206 of The Last of Us where he played Joel’s dad, he DM’d him on Instagram to ask if he’d jump into a Zoom call to check out Intergalactic. “We jumped on a Zoom call, and I showed him parts of the game, and I talked to him about it,” Druckmann said. “He’s like, ‘Yeah, I’m in. I’d love to do it.’ So Tony Dalton is there, and maybe there’s a few more [of actors from Season 1 or Season 2 of The Last of Us].”

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is due out on PlayStation 5, though there’s no word on when to expect the game.

In the meantime, read Game Informer’s interview with Druckmann about creating Season 2 of The Last of Us.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is Naughty Dog’s most expansive – and expensive – game, says Neil Druckmann

by admin September 12, 2025

Naughty Dog’s forthcoming sci-fi game Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is the company’s “most ambitious game we’ve ever made”.

That’s according to creator Neil Druckmann, who spoke to Variety ahead of the Emmys this week – for which The Last of Us won an award.

“I can tell you we’re in the thick of it,” said Druckmann on the game’s development status. “We’re making it, we’re playing it. We’re firing on all cylinders. I’ve said this before, but I really mean it, I’m really feeling it right now: It’s the most ambitious game we’ve ever made. It’s the most expansive game we’ve ever made, maybe the most expensive, by the time we finish it.”

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet – Announcement Trailer | PS5 GamesWatch on YouTube

Druckmann added he’s “antsy to show it and talk about it because the trailer that we showed doesn’t even scratch the surface of what this game actually is”, but don’t expect anything just yet.

While he wouldn’t go into detail on gameplay, Druckmann explained it continues the studio’s trajectory from Uncharted to The Last of Us, creating a realistic action game with emotional storytelling and then adding RPG elements and “wide linear layouts” – but now with sci-fi and even more ambition.

What’s more, Intergalactic may also receive some form of adaptation in the future like The Last of Us. Naughty Dog has already been approached by studios based solely on the initial trailer, but Druckmann doesn’t want to “put the cart in front of the horse”.

“This needs to be a fantastic video game first, and then if that happens and we have the right partnership, those opportunities would be great,” he said.

“But that’s not why we do what we do. So there’s a lot of ideas of what we could do with Intergalactic, and in some ways it’s easier to expand that because it’s just how that story is structured in that universe. So there’s some interesting conversations happening about potential projects that could come down in the future, but our priority right now is to make Intergalactic the next big, fantastic Naughty Dog game.”

Could a sequel to Intergalactic also be on the cards straight after its development?

“I’m sure if Intergalactic is successful, you will see it again,” he said. “Whether that will be our next game right after that, I can’t say, and I leave that door open.”

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet was first revealed at The Game Awards last year (trailer above), with Tati Gabrielle in the lead role.

Earlier this year, Druckmann confirmed the studio has a second game in development too.

Silksong’s Collection Of Weird Little Guys Rules

by admin September 12, 2025

There’s a lot to love about Hollow Knight: Silksong. Conversely, there’s also a lot to throw your controller and crash out about in Team Cherry’s long-awaited Metroidvania sequel. But one thing we can all agree on is that Silksong’s cast of weird little bug creatures are all a bunch of stars. Yeah, some of them are trying to kill you and will probably succeed, but they’re all so full of charm that they steal the show whenever they’re on screen. Hornet may be the star, but she’s got competition for the title of fan favorite.

Silksong maintains the original Hollow Knight’s hand-drawn, almost storybook art style, so even the most badass or grotesque characters in the game have an air of cuteness to them. Shakra, the merchant whom Hornet buys items and equipment from, has been an early standout for players, both for her intense, aura-farming demeanor and the comforting melody she sings when she’s nearby. Hearing Shakra sing is usually a sign of safety, but if an enemy does follow you to her shop, she’ll join the fight and rock their shit.

Shakra’s not the only ally Hornet can meet that has stolen the hearts of Silksong players. Garmond and Zaza are a pair of traveling companions whom Hornet can save from captivity in Greymoor. They can then help you in one of Silksong’s tough boss fights, and after hearing Garmond’s regal-as-fuck battle cry, I would trust him to follow me into any battle.

Not every friendship in Silksong starts out as such, though. The Bell Beast is a large creature Hornet encounters in the Marrow. At first, she is trapped in Silk, and you must free her using your Silk Spear, but then she will attack you, and you’ll have to defeat her and eventually tame the beast. Then she becomes a loyal companion who will help you fast-travel. You can even pet her…kinda!

Hollow Knight’s cute character designs lend themselves to plushes, pins, and other merchandise, so I’m sure we’ll see some of Silksong’s stars joining the likes of Hornet and the Knight in the coming months. A huggable Bell Beast is an easy sell.

Ubisoft's deal with Saudi Arabia over free Assassin's Creed Mirage DLC has reportedly seen staff pushback

Ubisoft’s deal with Saudi Arabia over free Assassin’s Creed Mirage DLC has reportedly seen staff pushback

by admin September 12, 2025

Ubisoft workers have raised concerns with company management about a deal with Saudi Arabia to create a free DLC for Assassin’s Creed Mirage set in the country, according to a new report.

Announced with little fanfare – at least, as far as add-ons for pretty prominent games are concerned – on a Saturday morning last month, the free DLC is set to add a new story chapter set in 9th century AlUla later this year. AlUla is an ancient oasis city and governorate in Saudi Arabia, though Ubisoft’s announcement post didn’t mention the country by name.

As detailed in this report from Game File, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot announced the DLC alongside the online reveal during a speech in Riyadh at a conference put on in conjunction with the Esports World Cup, which the Saudi government are funding.

According to an internal Ubisoft Q&A, which Game File’s Stephen Totilo has published as part of his report, workers at the publisher have demanded answers from management about this partnership with Saudi Arabia. The question from a staffer about the issue specifically cited the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, asking whether Ubisoft execs believed an association with the authoritarian Saudi state could have a negative effect on the company’s image.

While they’ve publicly told IGN that they have creative control over what goes into this DLC, Ubisoft reportedly wouldn’t tell staff anything about how it came to be, simply stating that they don’t comment on “rumours”. They did however, make a distinction between the Saudi government’s Public Investment Fund and Saudi ruler Mohammed bin Salman, the latter being the Public Investment Fund’s chairman and the person who allegedly ordered Khashoggi’s assassination. “The [PIF]’s money is not MBS’s, and talking with partners who do not share our democratic values does not mean abandoning them,” Ubisoft management told workers.

The company also defended Guillemot having travelled to Saudi Arabia in late 2024 alongside French president Emmanuel Macron to meet with Saudi politicians. That was just a “classic diplomatic tool for expanding France’s influence and reach around the world”, according to Ubisoft.

The reported partnership with Ubisoft over Mirage DLC – released at no charge, as is often the case for sizeable add-ons boasting not just new missions, but a totally fresh location to explore – is far from the only gaming-related investment the Saudi government and their associates have made in recent years. Just last week, PIF-backed “giga project” Qiddiya bought co-ownership of fighting game tournament Evo.

Naughty Dog Debated Going Straight Into The Last Of Us Part III After Part II

by admin September 12, 2025

Naughty Dog president and The Last of Us director Neil Druckmann has seemingly revealed that The Last of Us Part III is, at the very least, an idea that’s been floated at the studio. In a new interview with Variety, Druckmann says Naughty Dog debated going straight into Part III after completing Part II, but that ultimately, the team decided to move forward on what we now know as Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

While a Part III to The Last of Us seems like a no-brainer, considering how well this franchise does for Naughty Dog and PlayStation, Druckmann has given mixed signals over the years. When The Last of Us Part II Remastered dropped last year, it eventually included Grounded II, a documentary about the making of the game.

Near the end of it, Druckmann said, “For years now, I haven’t been able to find that concept [for Part III], but recently, that’s changed, and I don’t have a story, but I do have a conept that to me is as exciting as 1, as exciting as 2, is its own thing, and yet has this throughline for all three. So it does feel like there’s probably one more chapter to this story.”

But then, in a March 2025 Variety interview, Druckmann, when asked about a potential Part III, said, “I guess the only thing I would say is don’t be on there being more of The Last of Us. This could be it.”

Now, in a new interview with Variety, Druckmann has seemingly revealed that Naughty Dog, at one point, had plans regarding a Part III game in its Last of Us franchise.

When asked about potential Intergalactic sequels, Druckmann said, “We don’t tend to plan too much in the future, because we find – and this is something I inherited, it’s just the Naughty Dog culture – that we do our best work when it’s something we’re really excited about, really passionate about.

“Just to give you an example, when we finished The Last of Us Part II, and that was highly successful for us, we were debating whether we should just go straight into The Last of Us 3, and we had a really long period where we looked at ideas for maybe what could be in that game.”

The team looked at Uncharted, Jak and Daxter, and its “sci-fi thing,” though, and Druckmann said what is now Intergalactic is where the team’s passion led it.

So for now, it sounds like a third Last of Us game is on the theoretical or potential table as Naughty Dog continues work on Intergalactic.

For more, read Druckmann’s thoughts on the casting and gameplay of Intergalactic, and then check out Game Informer’s interview with Druckmann on the set of The Last of Us Season 2.

Konami Deletes Yu-Gi-Oh! Videos That Used AI To Steal Actor’s Voice

by admin September 12, 2025

Skillfully doing commentary on sporting events and competitive games is no easy task. You have to know a lotta stuff off the top of your head, and be able to deliver reactions and facts with confidence and a bit of theatrical flair. It’s work! Konami has recently tried to cut the labor out of said work by creating AI-generated commentaries for its Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship matches. But this use of the tech has blown up in the company’s metaphorical face as an actress has caught wind of her voice being used for the AI-generated commentaries without her involvement or consent.

Read More: French Voice Actress For Lara Croft Accuses Developer Of Using AI To Alter Her Voice

As reported by Automaton West, Konami’s deletion of two YouTube videos in which Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship duels are presented with AI-generated commentary follows the publisher’s announcement of a trial run of the tech. The video announcing that trial included a promise to leverage training data based on “countless simulations” of games using over 12,000 cards’ worth of data. Konami alleges that it understood the AI speech model it used–called “Anneli”–to be permitted for commercial use. But the company is now investigating whether the data used to train the model may have been “based on unauthorized learning.” That’s because voice actress and singer Hibiku Yamamura has asserted that it was her voice the AI had digested to produce the commentary tracks in question. In a post to X, the singer claims that (as translated using the built-in function on X),“No matter how I listen, it’s unmistakably my voice. But it’s clearly not me–my voice is reading text I’ve never read before.” She adds, “countless people who don’t know this are listening to that narration.”

Yamamura was certainly onto something. As it turns out, it was her voice, which the AI had acquired by way of a character she voices in an adult bishōjo visual novel. The creator of Anneli admitted to scraping Yamamura’s performance as Esther Gealach Arnotts in Tsuki ni Yorisou Otome no Sahou 2.

Stories like this are only going to become more commonplace as this kind of tech works its way through, well, everything if its creators have their way. Naturally, the ease with which creative talent can be so easily replaced now is unnerving from a pro-labor perspective, but I also found Yamamura’s post to add an important layer of humanity here as she speaks about the emotional impact of hearing your voice taken and used without your consent.
