Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment – Preorder New Legend Of Zelda Spin-Off

The Legend of Zelda fans don’t have to wait too much longer to return to the world of Tears of the Kingdom. As announced during the September Nintendo Direct, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment launches November 6 exclusively on Switch 2. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment preorders opened September 12 at major retailers. Like most Switch 2 games published by Nintendo so far, Age of Imprisonment is priced at $70.

Nintendo-published games rarely have preorder bonuses, but it’s possible we’ll see exclusive Zelda-themed trinkets at major retailers in the coming weeks.

$70 | Releases November 6

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment’s physical and digital versions retail for $70. Preorders are available at Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, and GameStop.

For the physical edition, the full file is stored on the Switch 2 Game Card. This has been the case with all exclusives, but it’s worth repeating here because of the game’s file size. Age of Imprisonment is 44.9GB, according to the eShop store page, so it will take up roughly 20% of the console’s usable space if you purchase the digital version.

If you opt for the digital edition and want to expand your storage space, Amazon has restocked the officially licensed Samsung 256GB microSD Express Card for $59. For a higher-capacity card, we’d recommend the SanDisk Gameplay 512GB microSD Express Card at Walmart. This exclusive card is virtually identical to the $120 SanDisk model, but it’s sold for only $78 exclusively at Walmart.

Age of Calamity is the third game in Koei Tecmo’s Dynasty Warriors and Zelda crossover series. Like the previous two entries, Age of Imprisonment is a hack-and-slash action game that can be played solo or cooperatively with another player. It features a large cast of playable characters, led by Princess Zelda. This means that the two most recent Legend of Zelda games have actually starred Zelda. Last year, the heroine was the lead protagonist in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, the first mainline entry led by any character beyond Link.

Just as Age of Calamity served as a prequel to Breath of the Wild, Age of Imprisonment takes place before the events depicted in Tears of the Kingdom. The story revolves around Demon King Ganondorf’s previous attempt to take control of Hyrule. This invasion is referenced in Tears of the Kingdom, and now fans will get to see how it all went down. Other playable characters beyond Zelda include King Rauru, Mineru, and other Sages. Most importantly, you can play as a Korok.

Age of Imprisonment supports GameShare on Switch 2, so you can play with a friend over local wireless with only one copy of the game. All Zelda Amiibo figures are compatible with the new game. Scanning Amiibo figures will drop crafting materials and other items.

If you haven’t played Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, it’s worth noting that anyone with a save file on their console will get the High Guard’s Claymore weapon in Age of Imprisonment. You’ll also get the High Guard’s Sword if you have a Tears of the Kingdom save file.

If you want to catch up or revisit the previous Hyrule Warriors games ahead of Age of Imprisonment’s release, Woot has physical editions of Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition and Age of Calamity for $50 each. These are international editions, but the Switch and Switch 2 are region-free, so the only tangible difference will be the ratings board logo on the cover. Walmart has US editions for $55.

Even though Age of Imprisonment takes place before Tears of the Kingdom, you will almost certainly get more out of the story if you’ve played the brilliant open-world adventure. The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is available for $79, or you can grab the Switch version for $59 and purchase a $10 Switch 2 Upgrade Pack from the eShop. We’ve included a list of all of the mainline Zelda games with physical editions for Nintendo Switch and/or Switch 2 below.

Dying Light: The Beast gets a release date bump so short you’ll wonder why they bothered

Whenever there is word of a video game’s release date being changed, it’s hardly ever surprising because nine times out of ten, it’s because it has been delayed. That’s just the way things are these days, no one can have the luxury of Team Cherry, who took so long making Silksong just because they were having fun. However, in this case, the release date shifting news is actually a positive one, as Dying Light: The Beast will be launching just that little bit earlier.

By little bit, I truly do mean only a tiny amount. The game was originally slated for release on September 19th, and now it’s coming out… September 18th! I do genuinely wonder how such a miniscule change will make any difference to Techland’s bottom line, but I’m no accountant, or, I don’t know, money line go up predictor, whatever that particular job might be called.

In a press release, Dying Light franchise director Tymon Smekta&lstrok;a said that because they know the game is ready, they wanted to “do something special for our players,” so they pushed themselves to “make the impossible possible,” which translates to one day less that everyone has to wait for it. Feels like a slightly hyperbolic way to present such a tiny release date bump, but I suppose it is always nice to see this as opposed to yet another delay.

Also, as another form of thanks to those who have or will pre-order the game, some kind of “exclusive new reward” will be in store for them. Can’t tell you what that is, not because it’s a secret, but because proper details will be coming during launch week, i.e. next week.

Our own Edwin got to have a little jaunt through the upcoming open world game earlier this year which he described as “on the whole, quite jolly.”

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined Is A Remake Of The Classic RPG

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past is getting a remake that serves as a reimagining of the classic RPG.

Dubbed Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, the game features a new 3D art style with character models rendered using real-life dolls to create an overall hand-crafted, diorama-style aesthetic. According to Square Enix, the game’s story has been “enhanced to provide a more streamlined experience.” Other quality of life improvements include a redesigned UI.

The turn-based battles have also been overhauled to be more dynamic, and the vocation system has been updated with a “Moonlighting’ mechanic that lets players use two vocations at once. Furthermore, a “Let Loose” ability activates when a character becomes worked up, and a new “Monster Master” vocation introduces a perk called Positive Reinforcement that summons powerful monsters to help in battle.

Dragon Quest VII was first released in Japan for the PlayStation in 2000 and in North America in 2001. The game was later re-released for the 3DS in 2016, which served as a remake in its own right, so Reimagined is technically the time DQ VII has been overhauled.

Dragon Quest VII launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, Switch, and PC on February 5.

Borderlands 4 Shift Codes: All Active Keys And How To Redeem Them

Borderlands games are all about chasing down rate loot, and for Borderlands 4, players can once again expect to plug in some Shift codes to grab an instant high-caliber upgrade. Borderlands 4 supports Shift codes, and the ones that can be redeemed for Golden Keys will let you open the unique Golden chests found in Belton’s Bore, The Launchpad, Carcadia, or The Lockaway.

We’re still betting that each code you redeem will still give you Golden Keys that can be used to unlock a treasure chest of rare goodies in the game or new cosmetics that you can apply to your Vault Hunter. How to redeem Shift codes

To redeem your Shift code, you’ll first need to create a Shift account on the Gearbox website. This is quick and easy to do, and you can then activate your Shift codes on the same website or via the in-game Social menu or via Borderland 4’s Social menu at launch. The other thing to note about Shift codes is that they typically have expiration dates, so it’s a good idea to redeem one as soon as possible.

From there, you can bank the rewards if they turn out to be Golden Keys, or splurge and use all of them to grab some new gear in one go.

One important note: The rewards contained within these chests scale to your current level, so you may want to consider waiting to use a Golden Key. Otherwise, using one early in the game will net you low-level gun as opposed to one you can use long-term.

Still getting dunked on in Dota 2? Don’t worry, even Gabe Newell gets called a noob once a week, apparently

I don’t play online games particularly often, mostly the only ones that I do enjoy are the kind of games I can play with just my friends. People are mean, you see, and I have a sensitive soul, and also I often find them deeply boring conceptually and in practice. Take of that what you will in relation to this story about Dota 2! Moving on swiftly to a topic that I promise connects to this intro, Gabe Newell! He is a co-founder of Valve, and a noted Dota 2 lover. He also, apparently, is someone who is often subjected to ridicule while playing the very same game his company makes.

The man himself made a pre-recorded experience at this year’s Dota 2 International, opening exactly how you’d expect him to: “Hi, I’m Gabe Newell.” After clearing that up, he waxes not quite poetically about how he fell in love with the MOBA quite deeply thanks to the first International. But, he says says, “It’s not just the game I love, but the community.

“Sure, people talk s**t at me in chat, and about once a week people say, hey noob, uninstall the game and [censor blip]. But that’s really about their enthusiasm, and the energy that they bring, and that’s why, after all these years, I still play Dota every day.”

Now, I do feel I have to say that this is a pretty subtly horrendous way to endorse quite toxic behaviours that many people are often subjected to in online games. I don’t care if you’re enthusiastic! We’re all here to have fun, right? Try a friendly word of advice before you make your way to the arcade’s basketball machine for some easy dunks.

On the other hand, I find it quite an amusing, if brief, anecdote about the ways in which we don’t know who we’re playing with online. I fully believe that Newell regularly gets lambasted by strangers online, and it tickles me to imagine how they might change their behaviour if they had the relevant context.

Not to say that it’s good many of them would likely be kinder with said context, I just think there’s a lesson to be had here in how we encourage certain kinds of communication in game spaces. One that Valve, even now, still should probably learn how to do better.

Somehow, Virtual Boy Is Returning And Joining Nintendo Switch Online

Nintendo has a rich history of beloved consoles, from the Super Nintendo to the 3DS, that have filled generations of children with joy. They also released a console called the Virtual Boy. To call this console before its time is an understatement; the Virtual Boy is a retro attempt at virtual reality that left many complaining about strained necks and headaches. Despite that, Nintendo is honoring its legacy and bringing the lineup to the Switch Online Expansion pack for Switch 1 and 2.

The new collection comes with a physical Virtual Boy that you slot your Switch 1 or 2 into. after setting it on a table in front of you, you’ll press your head against it to see the screen. If you don’t want the big plastic Virtual Boy sitting on your table, Nintendo is also releasing a cardboard model, presumably for cheaper than the big one, and in the style of the Labo VR it experimented with a while ago.

The collection will eventually have 14 games, but in Nintendo fashion, they’ll be drip-fed to us slowly over time. The first batch launches early next year, on February 17.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined Preorders Are Up At Amazon

Dragon Quest fans got a big surprise during the September 12, 2025, Nintendo Direct presentation, which revealed that one of the biggest games in the series, Dragon Quest VII, is getting an all-new version next year featuring gorgeous new graphics, voice acting, and gameplay updates. The aptly titled Dragon Quest VII Reimagined launches for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC on February 5, 2026. Preorders are available now, and the game is available in multiple versions–including physical standard and Collector’s Editions, and a Digital Deluxe Edition. Grabbing an early copy unlocks a few in-game bonuses, and if you grab the Digital Deluxe Edition, you even get 48-hour early access to the full game.

This means you must download and install the game to your Switch 2 before playing. There does not appear to be a Switch 2 Edition upgrade available for the Switch version.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined Collector’s Edition

This limited physical edition includes a boxed copy of Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, the Early Bird preorder bonus, Digital Deluxe DLC content, a special Steelbook case, a Slime enemy plushie, and a Ship in a Bottle figure based on the boat the party uses to explore the many islands of Dragon Quest VII’s world.

You can preorder Dragon Quest VII Reimagined Collector’s Edition for $250 exclusively at Square Enix’s online store. It’s available in PS5, Switch 2, Switch, and Xbox Series X versions.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is a ground-up remake of the original PS1 version of Dragon Quest VII that launched in 2000. This is actually the second remake of the sprawling console JRPG; it was also remade for the Nintendo 3DS in 2016. However, Reimagined looks to be an even bigger overhaul of the game, featuring a gorgeous new artstyle reminiscent of sculpted figurines that resembles the FMV cutscenes of the PS1 version. It also maintains the top-down viewpoint of the PS1 version. Based on what we’ve seen so far, the new visual style looks to be a great fit for the late Akira Toryiama’s classic character and monster designs.

According to the announcement trailer and the game’s official website, Dragon Quest VII Reimagined will also make notable changes to the story and gameplay. While the exact changes to the story have not been detailed, Square Enix says the narrative has been “reworked to be pacier and more accessible to players,” which isn’t surprising, considering the PS1 and 3DS versions are notoriously large games that can easily take over 100 hours just to complete the main storyline.

On the gameplay side, Reimagined maintains the turn-based battles of the original game, with the option to increase battle speed or turn on auto-battling. Like the 3DS version, Reimagined will let players see monster encounters on the field, and you’ll automatically defeat low-level enemies without having to enter combat. The game will also feature a reworked class system that lets party members select two classes at once, as well as tweaks and updates to each of the various vocations.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined isn’t the only upcoming Dragon Quest remake. Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake also launches on PS5, Xbox, Switch 2, Switch, and PC on October 30. Preorders are available for $60 on al platforms. The game will feature enhanced versions of the first two Dragon Quest games from the 1980s with all-new graphics, gameplay updates, and even new content. The new HD-2D version follows up a similar HD-2D remake for Dragon Quest 3 that launched last year on all consoles, and recently got a Switch 2 Edition upgrade that increases performance on Nintendo’s new handheld. Eventually, we’ll hopefully hear more about the long-awaited Dragon Quest 12, but these remakes of classic entries in the series will keep fans busy until then.

Vampire Survivors developer Poncle on what it takes to be a good publisher: “Not everything can be a breakout hit”

Getting your game a publishing deal has never been an easy thing to do. Right now, it’s especially hard given that for many publishers, if it doesn’t seem like a guaranteed hit, it likely isn’t something they’ll take on. This is something that Vampire Survivors developer Poncle, or rather the actual person, Luca Galante, takes great issue with, and in a recent interview he spoke more broadly of his issues with publishers, and his thoughts on now being one.

“I see a lot of publishers I don’t like, and I think that’s my way to define what a good publisher should be, probably,” Galante explained to GamesRadar. “I see a lot of publishers that try to exploit the platforms just to make money, basically, because the video game industry is very obviously an industry that makes a lot of money. There is a lot of money to make. I see that these publishers will try and just exploit platforms for money.”

He went on to note how there are publishers who will put out simply incomplete games, or early access games that never get finished, and that for him, “what a publisher should do is, first of all, make genuine games, genuine products, something that has some real value, and then understand that not everything can be a breakout hit.” Galante also spoke of the importance of post-launch support, and for him this is “definitely a big thing from my point of view that publishers should be able to offer.”

As of now, Poncle has published two games, Berserk or Die, a beat ’em up where you have to mash your keyboard to beat enemies, and Kill the Brickman, a Brick Breaker-esque, turn-based roguelike game, both of which are cheap as chips (£3 and £4 respectively).

It’s these kinds of affordable games with smaller teams that Galante wants to lean towards in publishing, and in particular his priority is to find devs “that are very transparent in what they do, they want to talk with their community, and they have a real, genuine passion for making games.” Not only that, it’s important to him that these devs get to realise their vision by enriching it, as opposed to forcing in things like microtransactions or season passes.

Galante is, perhaps most importantly, fully aware with how lucky he got with Vampire Survivors, and that’s why he wants to publish other games. “We definitely made some mistakes when it comes to putting the game out there, but we learned a lot, and wanted to try to sort of share what we learned with other indies. It was a way to try and give something back to the indie community, share the luck.” Good luck indeed! At this point in time, every dev needs every ounce of the stuff they can get.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Hits Nintendo Switch 2 And Switch This December

Nintendo has revealed that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will launch this December. More specifically, it hits Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch on December 4, and that same day, a Sylux amiibo will hit stores, too. Before that, though, you can pick up a Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Samus amiibo and a Samus + Vi-0-La (motorcycle) amiibo on November 6.

Nintendo announced this news during today’s Nintendo Direct with a new gameplay trailer showcasing Samus in a desert biome, utilizing a new tool in her arsenal: a motorbike. Its official name is Vi-0-La, and it’s the bike featured in the aforementioned amiibo. The trailer also gives us a new cinematic look at Sylux, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond’s first-person gameplay, and more.

Donkey Kong Bananza DLC Adds Roguelike Mode And Is Out Today

During Friday’s hour-long Nintendo Direct, a new paid DLC expansion for Switch 2 game Donkey Kong Bananza was announced. It’s out later today.

Here’s the official trailer for the new DK Island and Emerald Rush DLC, which will be available after the Direct.

The other cool thing this new DLC adds is a whole new way to play Nintendo’s massive 3D platformer. If you have completed the main story of Bananza, you can actually work for the villain of the story and join his mining company. Doing so unlocks a new mode in which you smash up emeralds as fast as possible.

This mode is structured like a roguelike, with players completing runs to get higher scores. During these runs, Donkey Kong can find powerful artifacts that offer new, random perks. These perks offer up passive bonuses that can be stacked to help Donkey Kong earn more emeralds.

Doing well in this new mode, which is playable across the other parts of Donkey Kong Bananza and not just DK Island, lets you earn currency that can be used for buying and unlocking new cosmetic items. You’ll also be able to buy and unlock various statues to place all around DK Island.

This all sounds great to me and I’m excited to hop back into Donkey Kong Bananza. We might not be getting a new 3D Mario platformer anytime soon, but at least Donkey Kong has my back. Thanks, DK!
